After the recommencement of the season, Melbourne Storm initially played home games at AAMI Park as usual; however, an escalation in coronavirus cases and a subsequent second lock-down in the state of Victoria forced the Storm to relocate in late June, firstly, to New South Wales and then to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. This has meant that the Storm have had to play home games at multiple venues interstate throughout the 2020 season including Netstrata Jubilee Stadium in Sydney, Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane and Sunshine Coast Stadium on the Sunshine Coast. The Club had a successful season on the field and after 20 rounds finished the regular season in second spot and earning a "home" Qualifying final against Parrmatta Eels which was played at Suncorp stadium in Brisbane. The Storm won this final progressing through to Week three Preliminary final at the same venues, where they played and defeated the Canberra Raiders for a spot in the 2020 NRL Grand Final.

Following the end of World War I in 1918 and the recommencement of horserace meetings in Britain, Vernet made it known that she was willing to take small bets from female acquaintances who, like her, attended local race meetings throughout the English Home Counties. Unfortunately, as word got around and demand for her services visibly increased, her illegal and unlicensed activities soon came to the attention of the authorities. She was duly "warned off", the procedure whereby a person of proven dubious character is banned from attending official racecourse meetings in Britain for a set period of time. Because word of her activities had got around, she was recruited by bookmaker Arthur Bendir, who had been running the Ladbrokes bookmaking firm since 1902. Under the direction of Bendir, in 1913, Ladbrokes had established an office in the heart of London’s Mayfair; the intention was to provide horserace betting for an elite clientele drawn from the ranks of the British aristocracy and upper classes who frequented the nearby exclusive gentlemen's clubs, including of White's, Boodle's, the Carlton, the Athenaeum and the Royal Automobile Club.

After the failure at Cartagena the Burford came home and paid off. Barton was appointed to the 50-gun , in which ship he went to the Mediterranean and continued till after the battle off Toulon, 11 February 1743–4, when, in September, he was appointed to HMS Marlborough, and a few months later to , carrying the flag of Vice-Admiral William Rowley, the commander-in-chief, by whom, in May 1745, he was promoted to the command of the fireship ; and in February 1746–7 he was further promoted by Vice-Admiral Henry Medley to the frigate . In that, and afterwards in the xebec , he remained in the Mediterranean till the peace, when the Postilion was paid off at Port Mahon, and Barton returned to England in the flagship with Vice-Admiral Byng. He had no further employment at sea till the recommencement of the war with France, when he was appointed to the 50-gun , one of the fleet which went to North America with Edward Boscawen in the summer of 1755, and which, off Louisbourg, in June 1756, captured the French 50-gun ship, Arc-en-Ciel, armed en flûte, and carrying stores.

A total of fifteen events were not able to be rescheduled, or were definitively cancelled during the 2020 season. The centennial Volta a Catalunya (23–29 March), the Tour of the Basque Country (6–11 April), the Tour de Romandie (28 April to 3 May), the Tour de Suisse (7–14 June), and the Clásica de San Sebastián (25 July) were all cancelled prior to any updated calendars being released by the UCI. Following the May calendar update, the E3 BinckBank Classic (27 March), and the RideLondon–Surrey Classic (16 August) were both cancelled; in the June calendar update, Eschborn–Frankfurt (initially scheduled for 1 May), and Dwars door Vlaanderen (having been rescheduled for 14 October) were also cancelled. In July, the EuroEyes Cyclassics (initially scheduled for 16 August, and then rescheduled to 3 October), and the two Canadian races in Québec City and Montréal (scheduled for 11 and 13 September) were cancelled. Following the recommencement of racing on 1 August, the season-ending Tour of Guangxi (initially scheduled for 15–20 October, and then rescheduled to 5–10 November) was cancelled on 10 August.

The first exploration well at the Thar Jath field was spudded on 7 April 1999, expected to reach the Cretaceous Bentiu and Darfur sandstones at a depth of around in four to six weeks. In May 2000, Lundin suspended operations after rebels attacked the Thar Jath rig and killed three government employees. They resumed in March 2001 after the local population had been forcibly removed, but halted once more in January 2002. According to a Lundin report: "... in view of increasing instability in the area, to ensure maximum security for its personnel and operations, the Consortium decided to suspend seismic and drilling activities on Block 5A as a precautionary measure". In March 2003, Lundin said there had been "positive developments in the peace process and the improved conditions in its concession area" and said that it was planning to undertake infrastructure work "as a first step towards an eventual recommencement of activities". In June 2003 Lundin Petroleum completed sale its working interest in Block 5A to Petronas Carigali for USD 142.5 million. In August 2003 ONGC Videsh (OVL) of India was given approval to acquire the 26.125% stake owned by OMV in Block 5A. On 2 September 2003 OVL bought OMV's stake in Blocks 5a and 5B for $135 million.
