Rapee Sagarik was born on 4 December 1922 in Worachak Sub-district, Pom Prap Sattru Phai District, Bangkok. He is the eldest son of Nueng Sagarik and Sanit Phamornsut, out of six children. Rapee started primary education at Samsen Witthayakhan School and then in 1953, he moved to Satri Chulalak school until 1928. From 1928 to 1930 he studied at Saint Gabriel's College, then took further study during 1931–1932 at the Yaowakumarn School under Royal Patronage and received two certificates from the Ministry of Education.

However, due to his passion for fieldwork, he chose to work at an agricultural experiment station in Mae Jo as a temporary employee assigned to conduct research on rice, vegetable and tobacco varieties. Meanwhile, he also conducted research on orchids using his own funds, an activity which would later become a fixture in his life. He was devoted to orchid research, and would become internationally recognized in the field of orchidology as one of its foremost experts.

Rapee Sagarik was married to Kalaya Montriwat (daughter of Phichai Montri, Chief of the Free Thai Movement in Kanchanaburi during World War II). They had four children. After 1990, he resigned from the various public and private positions he held, to turn to a peaceful and simple life, though he continued to accept invitations for lectures, especially in rural and youth development, focusing on morality and ethics.

As General Motors Concert, the final 13-week series brought together radio's first concert stock company on October 3, 1937. With Rapee conducting the General Motors Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, these broadcasts were part of a Sunday Nights at Carnegie Hall series sponsored by General Motors. Swedish tenor Jussi Björling made his American debut as part of this series on November 28, 1937. The rotating line-up of leading name performers featured Björling, Donald Dickson, Helen Jepson, Maria Jeritza, Grace Moore, Erna Sack, Joseph Schmidt and Richard Tauber.

Ernö Rapée (or Erno Rapee) (4 June 1891 – 26 June 1945) was an Estonian-born American symphonic conductor in the first half of the 20th Century whose prolific career spanned both classical and popular music. His most famous tenure was as the head conductor of the Radio City Symphony Orchestra, the resident orchestra of the Radio City Music Hall, whose music was also heard by millions over the air. A virtuoso pianist, Rapée is also remembered for popular songs that he wrote in the late 1920s as photoplay music for silent films.

Due to the profound impacts of the anxiety disorder, it has been found that late marriage or staying unmarried for the lifetime is prevailing among population with social phobia. This is problematic, because being unable to gain needed social supports from intimate ones further confines the social phobic in the loneliness and depression that they have been suffering from. It was reported in the media that the four and another friend, Yok Meneh Yok Din, 47, had gone to the Bukit Tapah forest reserve to collect jungle produce when a tiger attacked Yok Meneh. One of the four then shot the tiger dead to save their friend from being attacked.
