Along with Show of Hands and Out for the Count, Tall Ships never returned to print after its original run in 1990. To keep the availability of music from the cassettes that the band likes most, on their newly established own label Hands on Music, they released a compilation album in 1995 of the name Backlog 1987–1991, which features highlights of the three cassette albums, including three of the six tracks from Tall Ships.

14, 22 February 1916 On March 13, 1916 Leonard defeated Sam Robideau in a six round newspaper decision in Philadelphia. According to the Washington Post, Leonard had Robideau "almost out for the count". In the first three rounds, Robideau tried to take the lead, but Leonard waited him out and let him tire against his defense, still getting a few effective counter punches. Siki claimed that he had agreed to take a dive, but when Carpentier dropped Siki, the outraged African decided to get up and fight. Although he had agreed to throw the fight, he did not intend to get beat up doing so. In the sixth round Siki hit Carpentier with a powerful right uppercut that appeared to put Carpentier down and out for the count. The referee, however, claimed Siki had tripped Carpentier, and awarded the bout to the unconscious champion on a foul.

Recorded straight to Digital Audio Tape in The Old Court, Devon, in 1991, the duo released the album later on in the year on cassette, becoming the final of their cassette-only releases. The album was released to a positive reception from concert goers, but as with the duo's previous releases, it did not bring the bang attention from any publications.

Myatt continued to appear in a variety of roles in television, movies, audio productions, computer games and pantomime. In 1996 he played the character of Stephanos in the Ancient Greece unit of the BBC Schools series Zig Zag, and in February 2000 he played "The Count" in an episode of the BBC television series ChuckleVision entitled "Out for the Count". The Huffington Post's Ashley Percival thought Stooshe were "making a bid to become our new favourite girl group" with "Slip". Robert Copsey from Digital Spy said that "Slip" is the type of song that radio stations play months after the release date. Copsey later gave the track four out of five stars and stated that "Slip" is "a worthy follow-up" to "Black Heart", adding "with their animated ad-libbing and energy-packed vocals, Stooshe prove they're not out for the count yet." Kim Carr from the Daily Star called the single "the best thing since 'Black Heart'".

The Famous "Dukla Pumpherston" football team was purely fictional, having been used by the comedian Tony Roper, sometime in the 1980s for the Naked Radio show, The name "Dukla Pumpherston" came from a play called "The Broons" held in Pumpherston Scout Hall circa 1982. It was the second play held there written by Scud Broon, the first was a play called "Out for the Count". Along with the play group around that time was their football team Pumpherston All-Stars. Both plays had their scripts sent to Radio Scotland with a few of Scud's poems sent by Jim McDougall.

Just three days after his victory over Malone, Moody travelled to Waterbury, Connecticut to fight world middleweight champion Harry Greb. Greb stayed out of the reach of Moody's powerful right, and floored the Welshman in the fourth round with a powerful body shot; and after that Moody had little fight left, being knocked out for the count after a barrage of blows in the sixth. This was followed by defeats in rematches to Bogash and Malone, before facing future light heavyweight champion of the world, Jack Delaney. Delaney won the fight in the fifth on a technical knock-out.

The duo self-released the album in early 1987 on cassette only. It was recorded and released to coincide with their first tour, and was only sold from the duo's concerts. The duo halted their time together as Beer returned The Albion Band, but returned in 1990 with Tall Ships, an album centered on its title track which is a twenty-two minute adaption of the much shorter song that opens Show of Hands. Both albums, along with Out for the Count (1991), were out of print by 1995, so the duo released the compilation Backlog 1987–1991 (1995) to compile highlights from the three albums.

Boxing historian Ken Blady believes Benjamin had fought with a fever that day, and had problems with injuries to his hands, an issue which occurred frequently in his boxing career. Though he had fought lightweight champion Leonard once, this single poor showing reduced his chances of a sanctioned championship shot, which many of his fans believed he was due. He decided to return to California to treat his arthritic hands, but against the sage advice of his gifted manager Billy Gibson, took a bout with Ritchie Mitchell on his way out west and was knocked out in the ninth in Milwaukee. It was the first time in 200 bouts Benjamin would be called out for the count.
