The album was the band's first to be released via Lifeforce Records. It was recorded during the period August 2010 - October 2010. After the album release, Omnium Gatherum toured Europe with Rotting Christ in April/May 2011.

Omnium Gatherum's music is influenced by Gothenburg-style bands such as At The Gates, In Flames, Dissection, Dark Tranquillity, but also Iron Maiden, Death, Anathema and Megadeth among others. On June 17 it was announced that Joonas "Jope" Koto has joined Omnium Gatherum as their new full-time second guitarist, replacing Harri Pikka. On July 10, 2015, the band announced that they had almost finished the recordings for a new album.

It is the first track to feature new guitarist, Markus Vanhala (Omnium Gatherum), who replaced Ville Vänni in 2011. Dark Tranquillity headlining the Agglutination Metal Festival, 2008 In 2007, Fiction was released, which in turn, saw a return of Stanne's clean vocals, and the first female guest vocalist since Projector. The album also saw writing style that combined the stylings of Projector and Haven, with the more aggressive traits of Character and Damage Done. At this time, Dark Tranquillity toured with The Haunted, Into Eternity, and Scar Symmetry for the North America Metal for the Masses Tour. Beyond is the sixth full-length studio album of Finnish melodic death metal band Omnium Gatherum and their second record released on Lifeforce Records. The album was released digitally worldwide on February 22, 2013, and physical CD was released in Finland, Germany, Switzerland and Australia on February 22, in the rest of Europe on February 25, and in North America on March 5. the album was produced by Teemu Aalto and Sami Koivisto and recorded at Teemu Aalto Music Productions studio (except for drums, which was recorded at Nordic Audio Labs by Sami Koivisto). Orpheus Omega on stage in Tokyo (April 6th, 2019) After signing to EVP Recordings in December 2018, their forth studio album, entitled Wear Your Sins was released on March 29th 2019 , produced by Mark Lewis. Lewis has previously worked with international acts such as Unearth, Trivium and The Black Dahlia Murder Wear Your Sins has received positive reviews and the band announced show in Japan and Australia with Omnium Gatherum and Scar Symmetry in support of the new album. These shows being the first time that Orpheus Omega had played in Japan, after the Australian tour, bassist Nathan Mesiti parted ways with the band due to personal reasons.

Winter in June (MCD EP) was released in Finland and was well received in the metal and hard rock community. Their ability to combine extreme subgenres of metal with hard rock and classical guitar have led them to become a recognizable force. Later that year, Rage of Achilles reported that they were going out of business due to the fact they could not support themselves due to belonging to so many record deals in such short amount of time. Lifeforce Records is a German heavy metal independent record label that specializes in metalcore and death metal. Their roster contains bands such as Confession, This or the Apocalypse, Omnium Gatherum and Last Leaf Down, and they have helped to launch the careers of bands who went on to larger labels, such as Heaven Shall Burn, Between the Buried and Me, Caliban and Trivium. While Lifeforce has signed and continues to sign both European and American artists, they announced in October 2002 that they were going to shift focus away from the latter following the breakup of Endthisday and Beyond the Sixth Seal, as well as Between the Buried and Me (who were at the time one of their most successful bands) leaving the label for Victory Records.

From September to October 2008, Nile set out on a European headlining tour with Grave, Omnium Gatherum and Severe Torture. In October 2008, the band planned to take their Ithyphallic tour to South Africa for a booking of three shows, but were canceled for unknown reasons. In June 2009, Nile entered the recording studio to begin work on their sixth full-length album entitled Those Whom the Gods Detest. The album was released on November 3, 2009 and was critically well- received, with one reviewer suggesting "pretty much the only thing standing in Nile's way at this point is the fact that we as listeners have become so accustomed to the band's excellence that another excellent album seems almost par for the course".
