Occasionally Ban will use Mustachio to comment on the development of Tezuka's artwork, drawing Mustachio commenting on a reprint of Tezuka's art, in one of many moments where the past and future of manga artistry seem to converge in a literal conversation.

In the anime, Golden Ball's slingshot has a laser sight. Golden Ball is voiced by Sota Arai in the Japanese version and by Kaiji Tang in the English dub. Spring Mustachio is voiced by Makoto Yasumura in the Japanese version and by David W. Collins in the English dub.

Schodt translated the nickname "Higeoyaji" to "Mr. Mustachio," and decided to use Astro Boy's English name. He explained that "Astro" is close to the Japanese name, "Atom", an English word. In addition, Schodt believed that using "Atom" in an American edition of the story would be "going too much against the history".

Pratt institute is known for the campus's "Pratt Cats" which roam freely on campus, and inspired the schools's mascot, Charlie. The cats each have their own names and personalities, including but not limited to: Charlie, L'il Mama, Mustachio, Shadow, Thomas, and Benji. The cats have heated homes on campus, and are fed by staff and students.

Lemke landed his first professional role in a production of the play Nurse Jane Goes to Hawaii by the Canadian playwright Allan Stratton at what is now the King's Wharf Theatre. His first role in a TV series followed shortly thereafter when he was cast in La Femme Nikita. He got the role largely because he could speak Czech from the year he spent teaching English in the Czech Republic. In 2000 Lemke landed the role of the mustachio-twirling mercenary Captain Grisham on the fantasy-genre series The Queen of Swords, which Variety Magazine declared a "guilty pleasure".

The last two of these communications treated of male and female headdress in England from 1500 to 1700. Another curious paper, "on the beard and the mustachio, chiefly from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century," which was read before the Society of Antiquaries, but not published, was printed at Repton's expense in 1839 (London, 8vo). In 1820 he displayed his antiquarian learning in the production of an "olden-style romance", entitled A trewe Hystorie of the Prince Radapanthus, of which he printed eighty copies in a very small size. His name is not on the title-page, but may be spelt out from the initial letters on turning over the pages.

He takes an interest in Hero Association profiles to plan attacks for their strengths and weaknesses, taking out Golden Ball and Spring Mustachio before being unknowingly knocked out by Saitama. Following his attacks on Metal Bat and Watchdog Man, the latter forcing him to retreat, Garo is injured by Saitama while attempting to attack King. Following being attacked by heroes while attempting to heal his injuries, he is taken to the Monster Association's base after he was nearly killed by Genos, Bang, and Bomb. Losing against Orochi in a one-on-one fight following his rampage throughout the Monster Association's lair, he was enchained until he was found by Puri-Puri-Prisoner.
