The score added up to six numbers, all sung by Kaye; conductor Billy May's 1950 composition "Bozo's Circus Band" (renamed "Music of the Big Top Circus Band") was deposited on the second side of the Merry Andrew soundtrack, released in 1958.

He was in his late 30s when he began doing character roles. Cahn and Chaplin relocated to Hollywood and scored two films for Universal Pictures. Chaplin then moved to Columbia Pictures to score Cover Girl and The Jolson Story. While on the latter film, Chaplin and Al Jolson penned the million-selling hit tune The Anniversary Song. In the late 1940s, Chaplin moved to MGM to work on a long string of films including On the Town (1949), Kiss Me Kate (1953), High Society (1956) and Merry Andrew (1958).

Sestini's husband José Christiano Stocqueler became the London agent of the Royal Wine Company of Oporto. One of their sons, known as Master Sestini, performed at Charles Dibdin's Royal Circus in Blackfriars Road and also Young Sestini sang in support of the Theatre Royal, Haymarket in 1787. The line "I am a Merry Andrew, Andrew is my name" has led to the erroneous suggestion that the Stocquelers had a son called Andrew.Highfill., Philip H., et al.

Bobèche Antoine Mandelot, better known as Bobèche, was a French theatre clown, similar to a Merry Andrew, under the First Empire and the Restoration. He was the son of an upholsterer of the St. Antoine faubourg. He was closely associated with Auguste Guérin, better known as Galimafré. These two comedians were very well known, and performed at the Boulevard du Temple in Paris for twenty years, at a time when theatres, acrobat schools and all kinds of spectacles were very popular.

In the 1950s, the advent of rock and roll and the transition of jazz into "bebop" cut deeply into Mercer's natural audience, and dramatically reduced venues for his songs. His continual string of hits came to an end but many great songs were still to come. Mercer wrote for some MGM films, including Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954) and Merry Andrew (1958). He collaborated on three Broadway musicals in the 1950s—Top Banana (1951), Li'l Abner (1956), and Saratoga (1959).

Of course this is repugnant to May whose heart is for Edward. Edward returning stops on the way at the inn where he learns of the approaching nuptials of Tackleton and May. Being a disguise from a strolling Merry Andrew, he goes in the garb of an old wayfarer on John’s cart to see Dot and find out the truth. John, prompted by Tackleton, watches the pair and not recognising Edward, assumes he is a lover and the first cloud shrouds the little home.

For Paramount, she was in contention for the role of Anna Magnani's daughter in The Rose Tattoo, but the role went to Marisa Pavan, her twin sister. MGM lent her to Columbia for Port Afrique (1956). She returned to MGM for Somebody Up There Likes Me as Paul Newman's long-suffering wife (Angeli's former lover, James Dean, was to play the starring role, which went to Newman after Dean's death). She then appeared in The Vintage (1957) and finished her MGM contract in Merry Andrew.

This continues in Kings and Emperors through the beginning of 1809, when Lewrie helps evacuate the British Army after the Battle of Corunna. Given the chance, Lewrie is lazy, casual, and inclined to be good humoured and amusing—a 'Merry Andrew' in the parlance of the day. However, what was initially a facade as an active and conscientious naval officer has actually become real over the course of the novels.

In November 2005, Andō's "Nouzenkatsura (Reprise)" was used in Gekkeikan's commercial for the "Tsuki" liquor. Because Andō was not credited on the actual commercial, the company was flooded with inquiries from people wanting to know the name of the singer, who for a period was confused to be Clammbon's Ikuko Harada. The song, based on a poem written by her grandmother over the loss of her husband, propelled Andō's second full album, Merry Andrew into the Top 10.

The "Jack" number appears as a bonus feature on a DVD of the film, and one commentator suggests that Kelly's judgment was not wrong as the number was listless and did not advance the plot. Kidd's screen acting debut, dancing with Gene Kelly and Dan Dailey in It's Always Fair Weather (1955) Kidd was both director and choreographer for the musical comedy film Merry Andrew (1958), starring Danny Kaye. By then, the era of movie musicals was pretty much over, and Kidd turned his attention to Broadway, where he had continued to work while choreographing movies. At the same time that he was choreographing The Band Wagon, he was staging dances for Cole Porter’s Broadway musical Can-Can.

She later regretted this decision. Lennart's later screen credits include A Life of Her Own, Love Me or Leave Me for which she received an Academy Award nomination in 1955,Certificate of nomination, Box 17, Isobel Lennart papers, Collection #3036, American Heritage Center, University of Wyoming Merry Andrew, The Inn of the Sixth Happiness, Please Don't Eat the Daisies, The Sundowners which also received an Academy Award nomination, and Two for the Seesaw. In 1964, Lennart wrote the book for the Broadway musical Funny Girl, based on the life and career of Fanny Brice and her tempestuous relationship with gambler Nick Arnstein. It catapulted Barbra Streisand to fame and earned her a Tony Award nomination.
