Plutonian eventually admits that he knows Modeus has possessed Samsara's corpse because he recognizes Modeus' mannerisms. Plutonian maims Modeus-Samsara's face. Encanta transfers his essence from Samsara into Qubit's rogue Modeus robot.

Milverstead is waiting for him at the club, and offers a bonus to any of his henchman who kills John Keem.

Soon after the funeral of the rebel kings, Balin sets out to avenge a man slain by an invisible knight while travelling under his protection. The villain is the brother of the Grail king Pellam, and Balin kills him at a feast in Pellam's castle. Pellam immediately seeks revenge for this act, breaking the weapon Balin used. Searching for a weapon with which to defend himself, Balin unknowingly grabs the Spear of Longinus and stabs Pellam with it: this is the Dolorous Stroke that maims Pellam, turns the Grail kingdom into the Wasteland, and brings the castle down on Balin's and Pellam's heads.

At the end, B.J. defeats and maims the Harbinger of Doom, a Nazi-summoned demon that is none other than the later Cyberdemon from Doom.

Since Skull-Crusher made her the leader of his clan before her death Chao's death violated the ritual and resurrected Leiko to punish Midnight Sun. Shang-Chi is able to knock out Midnight Sun during their fight while Leiko brutally maims Razor Fist. Leiko uses her newfound powers to summon the dead spirits of Skull-Crusher, White Dragon and the other dead triad leaders, who drag Midnight Sun into their realm. When Leiko attempts to execute Razor Fist, Shang-Chi pleads with his former lover to stop; while he is able to get Leiko to spare Razor Fist, he is unable to bring her back to her normal self.

As the route progresses, Shiki's connection to SHIKI gives him glimpses into his mind and visions of a girl who looks like Hisui being abused. Later on, Shiki learns that these visions are indeed SHIKI'S, who, wanting to sever the connection and torture Shiki, mutilates and maims himself to cause his brother immense pain, leaving him bedridden and barely holding on to his sanity. Knowing that killing SHIKI will heal him, Akiha searches for him. Shiki eventually learns from diaries that Hisui and Kohaku were taken in by Makihisa Tohno to serve him as Synchronizers, to supply him with energy to suppress his demonic blood.

Trevor Bruttenholm appears in the 2004 motion picture Hellboy, first as a young man in 1944 (played by Kevin Trainor), then as the B.P.R.D.'s aging director in the 2000s (played by John Hurt). In the film, "Broom" accompanies the team of American commandos to stop Rasputin from initiating Project Ragna Rok. He receives a bullet in the leg from Karl Ruprecht Kroenen that causes him to limp for the rest of his life, but throws a hand grenade under the portal machine that both destroys the machine and maims Kroenen as he is attempting to retrieve it. When the infant Hellboy appears, Broom adopts him and dedicates himself to raising Hellboy as a human, despite his demonic origins.

A spate of superhero deaths (Freedom Beast, Gloss, and Tasmanian Devil) and attacks on others (Barry Allen, Batwoman, and Crimson Avenger) is revealed to be the work of the true Prometheus. The villain impersonates Freddy Freeman and gains access to the JLA satellite, which in turn allows Prometheus to place teleportation devices in the home cities of various heroes which will "strand" them in various places in the past and future, as revenge for the years that he spent with his mind damaged. Prometheus also maims Roy Harper after Harper realizes his foe is not Freddy Freeman. After defeating the JLA and the Teen Titans by reading files on them, Prometheus is captured by Donna Troy and beaten brutally, until being stopped by the Shade.

The Governor returns to Woodbury and secretly orders Martinez to set an ambush at the barn, to kill all of Rick's group and bring Michonne to Woodbury so The Governor can torture her. In the episode "Prey", Andrea flees for the prison, and the Governor hunts her down personally, bringing her back to Woodbury and strapping her in the dentist's chair that he meant to use on Michonne. In the episode "This Sorrowful Life", Merle kidnaps Michonne at Rick's suggestion to turn her over to the Governor, but lets her go and instead lures walkers to the Governor's meeting place to ambush the Woodbury army. Then, the Governor maims, shoots, and kills Merle, leaving his body to reanimate as a walker, which Daryl later kills, out of pure anger, remorse, and pain.

With help from the Hawkman villain I.Q., Prometheus plans on creating the ultimate weapon in mass murder, a massive doomsday device which he plans on using to destroy entire cities, as part of his revenge scheme against the JLA for lobotomizing him. Disguised as Captain Marvel Jr., Prometheus maims Roy Harper and brutally injures JLA members Dr. Light II, Vixen, and Plastic Man while using the JLA Satellite to activate his doomsday device, which destroys Star City, killing 90,000 innocent civilians, including Roy Harper's young daughter Lian. Prometheus ultimately extorts his freedom from the League in exchange for the codes that will shut down his weapon, much to the horror of the JLA members. Green Arrow (with help from reformed supervillain the Shade), tracks Prometheus down and kills him by firing an arrow into his head.

Another Skinwalker was revealed to have been destroyed by Morgan in the 1950s, who lured it into the blast area of a nuclear bomb test before escaping into the Nevernever seconds before the detonation of the bomb slew the Skinwalker.

She is able to only find solace in Shiina, however, she cannot approach Shiina about the bullying but must endure it until the day she snaps. After experiencing the unfairness of modern society and being separated from Shiina due to her father's orders, Hiroko wishes that everything would disappear. This activates her shadow dragon, Oni, which she proceeds to use to commit a string of brutal murders including stabbing and dismembering Mihaya in a dark alley; crushing the skull of Aki Honda's brother (who Aki had a sexual relationship with, and who is only referred to as Aki's lover in the English manga) against a wall; forcing worms down Aki's throat, then using a talon to rape her and tear open her abdomen before ripping her body in half; and throwing Hiroka out of a classroom window before the eyes of the rest of the class. Additionally, Oni severely maims Miyoko by ripping her lower leg off and breaking several of her ribs and then scars Shiina's left hand when she tries to fend Oni off.
