In the court proceedings that ensue, Holloway reveals the fuzzies' speech and behavior to persuade the Colonial Authority judge to recognize their sapience and also embarrasses the corporation by persuading his line manager to testify that Holloway's contract was never reactivated after the rider was approved, giving him outright control of the seam he found. Zaracorp loses its exploration and extraction license for trying to deceive the judge and Holloway, Isabel, the line manager, and other helpers become the human guardians of the fuzzies.

In 1948, 58,086 tickets were sold and 90,076 collected, ten years later these figures had risen to 106,110 and 126,272 and by 1965, they were 120,016 and 140,129 respectively.

John Coletti, Ford's small-car engineering manager and a vociferous opponent of the SN-16 Mustang, said of the project, "I would rather have seen the Mustang name die than put the Mustang name on the Probe ...". Ken Dabrowski, Ford's small-car line manager, tapped Coletti to lead a skunkworks team that would develop a RWD Mustang successor with the understanding there would not be a full budget to create an entirely new car. Coletti's team heavily revised the 1979 Fox platform for the new car, which eventually became the fourth-generation Ford Mustang released for the 1994 model year. However, production for the SN-16 was about to commence, meaning Ford had to put it on sale or lose its development budget along with further potential financial headaches if Ford would break its production contract with Mazda.

The documentary investigates the 2015 killing by a robot of an assembly line manager in a Volkswagen factory in Germany, a driverless Tesla car that hit a white truck ahead of it and the use of drones by the police in the USA (especially in Dallas) to drop bombs on snipers and suspects. It also follows the use of artificial intelligence in facial tracking, use of robots in Japan including hotels manned by them, Geminoids in Japan, and the use of facial recognition for targeted marketing. The films uses Isaac Asimov's "Three Laws of Robotics", first proposed by him in his 1942 short story Runaround, and describes how human beings have in recent years ignored them. The film follows these with interviews with experts in the field, footage of real robots being used for bomb disposal and "smart guns" that are able to shoot people automatically based on facial recognition.

Line managers have total authority over those who report directly to them, but staff workers have primarily advisory authority. Their function is to create, develop, collect and analyze shop information, which flows to line workers in the form of advice. Staff positions can have four kinds of authority: "advise authority," with line managers choosing whether or not to seek advice from the staff person, and deciding what to do with the advice once they get it; "compulsory advice" or "compulsory consultation" in which line managers must consider the staff person's advice, but can choose not to heed it; "concurrent authority," in which the line manager cannot finalize a decision without the agreement of the staff person, and "functional authority" in which the staff person has complete formal authority over his or her area of specialty, such as the Personnel Department in the United States Navy. The Staff Officer in this role is typically a rank of O-3(LT) or O-4(LCDR) and is granted authority over personnel assigned to those specific roles.

His colleague was similarly promoted but resigned in early 1963 after a series of reprimands and suspensions. The public inquiry into the accident eleven years later agreed that this incident was a seemingly isolated occurrence and all had reason to believe Wilsdon; the Line Manager who reinstated the two was not criticized for this approach, although some criticism was given to the Management in 1961 for promoting Wilsdon so quickly after being reinstated. The second incident occurred on March 28th 1969 when Wilsdon was fined £1 for being drunk in Lewisham, similarly off-duty at the time, at which point again the railways were not informed of this occurrence until April, although he was not suspended at all for this incident owing to the fact that his superior at Hither Green was busy and then went on leave and as such was not able to speak with Wilsdon until June (at which point he gave Wilsdon a stern reprimand and advised him that such behavior was not acceptable). The actions of the superior for this incident were criticized as "unwise" but was not considered a serious failing: his eventual response to Wilsdon was appropriate and all that could have been done.
