The second artist colony was Lawrence Park, developed in Bronxville by William Van Duzer Lawrence in 1889. The third and final artist colony was Cedar Knolls. Its provenance resurfaced in an offering of 1893–94 that referred to “266 Choice Lots Being a Part of Cedar Knolls at Bronxville in the City of Yonkers.” This subdivision was generally bounded by present-day Bronxville Road, Chatfield Road, Bayberry Street, and Palmer Road.

The Graveyard Knolls is a home to over 50 species of fish, dominated by the orange roughy (Hoplostethus atlanticus), black oreo (Allocyttus niger), and cardinalfish (Apogonidae). Orange roughy in particular aggregate on the Graveyard Knolls for spawning and their visits here have supported a commercial fishery since the mid-1990s. A number of the seamounts are also home to extensive deep water coral forests, made up of Solenosmilia variabilis and Madrepora oculata, both species not known to be of wide extent near New Zealand until camera surveys of Graveyard Knolls in 2001 revealed their extent. These forests offer a home to a diverse invertebrate community that includes squat lobsters, seastars, brittlestars, polychaete worms, and crabs.

Before India broke off from Australia-Antarctica at 127 Ma the Naturaliste Plateau was flanked by what would become two microcontinents, the Batavia and Gulden Draak Knolls, now located on the western margin of the Perth Abyssal Plain from Australia. South of the plateau, during some 45 Ma after India and the two knolls broke off, rifting occurred between the plateau and the Bruce Rise, now located off Antarctica. This rifting continued until sea-floor spreading began 83 Ma. Continental metamorphic and granitic basement rocks have been dredged from both knolls.

Between 1902 and 1910, title to the Plat A area changed hands several times, finally subdivided as The Cedar Knolls at Bronxville in the City of Yonkers. Map No. 2026, dated May 18, 1910, illustrates a neighborhood nearly identical to today's Cedar Knolls. The Dr. Charles Compton House is a historic house located at 1303 South Wiggins Avenue in the Oak Knolls neighborhood of Springfield, Illinois. The house was built in 1926 for Dr. Charles Wentworth Compton, a local surgeon and the founder of local political group the Wentworth Republicans. Springfield architects Helmle and Helmle designed the Tudor Revival house, which was one of their many works in Oak Knolls. The house's front facade features a variety of materials and textures.
Originally known as the Knolls, Harbor Heights was first developed by Harry Rich Mooney in the 1920s. This coincided with the building of a stately stone bridge, the 1911 County Bridge, over the Bronx River, providing a very marketable access point to and from the Bronxville train station. A second stone bridge over the newly completed Bronx River Parkway was constructed nearby in 1917. Also at this time, a shanty town between the bridges and Cedar Knolls was replaced by the tall brick apartment buildings present along Pondfield Road West. The imposing Colonial Revival house at 98 Pondfield Road West was the first house built in Cedar Knolls.

The Simi Valley Woman’s Club was located there as well (the building which served as the clubhouse for the Woman's Club was moved from the town of Simi). The Woman's Club club house was used by many individuals and organizations as a community meeting place. The Tuzo Wilson Seamounts, also called J. Tuzo Wilson Knolls and Tuzo Wilson Knolls, are two young active submarine volcanoes off the coast of British Columbia, Canada, located northwest of Vancouver Island and south of the Haida Gwaii archipelago (briefly known as the Queen Charlotte Islands.) The two seamounts are members of the Kodiak-Bowie Seamount chain, rising to above the mean level of the northeastern Pacific Ocean and is a seismically active site southwest of the southern end of the Queen Charlotte Fault. Sugar Bush Knolls is a village in Portage County, Ohio, United States. It was formed from portions of Streetsboro and Franklin townships in 1964. The population was 177 at the 2010 census. It is essentially made up of a single subdivision.

In 1920, the association's newly adopted name was engraved on a sterling silver Tiffany trophy, designed and executed by Louis Comfort Tiffany himself, presented to that year's inaugural winner of the Cedar Knolls Colony Golf Tournament. The Lenape were once sovereign over a vast domain stretching along the Middle Atlantic coast from New York to Delaware Bay, between Long Island Sound and the Atlantic coast to the Delaware River valley. This tribe made its settlements on the banks of the rivers that flowed between the surrounding hills and on knolls that held special significance for the Lenape. One of their longhouses actually served as a wintertime school and was located on a knoll overlooking the present site of the Patricia A. Dichiaro School on Bronxville Road, then a major trail.

Other genera included Myriophyllum, Isoetes (indicating the formation of littoral communities) and Pediastrum. Algae grew in the lake, leading to reef knolls (bioherms) formed by carbonate rocks. These grew in several phases, and some were initially considered stromatolites. Some dome-shaped bioherms reach a size of , forming reef-like structures on terraces.
The morainic system south of the Wabash River is from to wide and will separate into two or more ridgelines. It has a steep rises from to above the surrounding plains. Its drift is largely clay till and has few boulders. The neighboring plains are of stiff clay till with a few knolls.

The Granite Knolls () are conspicuous rock outcrops on the northwest flank of Blue Glacier, west of Hobbs Peak in Victoria Land, Antarctica. This descriptive name was given by the British Antarctic Expedition, 1910–13, under Robert Falcon Scott. Anderson Knoll is the southernmost nunatak in the knolls, sitting south of the main massif and marginal to Blue Glacier, in Victoria Land. It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names after Klaus G. Anderson (died 1991), a civil engineering technician with the United States Geological Survey (USGS), 1960–90; he was a member of the USGS field team which established geodetic control in the Hudson Mountains, Jones Mountains, Thurston Island and Farwell Island areas of Walgreen Coast and Eights Coast during the 1968–69 season.

Western Knolls of Knowland Park Joseph Knowland State Arboretum and Park is a park located in the Grass Valley neighborhood of Oakland, California. It was formerly a state park, and is now the property of the City of Oakland. The Oakland Zoo occupies the developed western lowlands of the park, just off I-580.

Oftentimes several lots were needed to build structures. In 1944 the Garden Club, an active community organization in the area petitioned the county supervisors to change the name of Mortimer Park to the Susana Knolls. The first attempt to incorporate the towns of Simi, the area known as Community Center (93065) and Santa Susana (93063) in 1966 was unsuccessful.
The creek rises in the hills west of the town of Fairfax. It descends northward to Woodacre, where it turns westward and parallels Sir Francis Drake Boulevard through the villages of San Geronimo, Forest Knolls, and Lagunitas. It then turns southwestward and joins Lagunitas Creek at the eastern edge of the Samuel P. Taylor State Park.

The latter provide evidence to document settlement patterns, and population changes, over time at Pacbitun. Slightly more than half of these elevated knolls were stand alone, isolated, mounds. The rest were found clustered in residential patio groups (plazuelas), typically with three mounds.

Hebden Beck flows down from Grassington Moor, which is dominated by the long-abandoned remains of the lead mining industry, through a rugged and wooded gill, past the hamlet of Hole Bottom, made famous by William Riley's novel Jerry and Ben, and then over the Scala Falls. A popular walk is an circuit up to Grassington Moor, and thence to Grassington, returning along the River Wharfe. South of Hebden, the edge of the limestone is heralded by a number of text-book examples of reef knolls, including Elbolton Hill, Stebden Hill, and Kail Hill, which are the conical remnants of limestone reef structures. Behind the reef knolls is a large expanse of Grassington Grit grouse moor, Thorpe Fell and Burnsall Fell, where walking may be enjoyed - especially around the edges.
Metaphor: The Tree of Utah was built on the northern side of I-80 in the middle of the salt flats further east from the rest area. Before terminating at I-80 the highway veers north and forms a diamond interchange in the unincorporated community of Knolls. A frontage road continues on the northern side of I-80 after this interchange.
The lake was saline. The lake received water from Lake Titicaca, but whether this contributed most of Tauca's water or only a small amount is controversial; the quantity was sufficient to influence the local climate and depress the underlying terrain with its weight. Diatoms, plants and animals developed in the lake, sometimes forming reef knolls. The duration of Lake Tauca's existence is uncertain.

Småknoltane Peaks () is a chain of peaks long, rising on the east side of the mouth of Snuggerud Glacier in the Filchner Mountains of Queen Maud Land. They were photographed from the air by the German Antarctic Expedition (1938–39) and mapped by Norwegian cartographers from surveys and air photos by the Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–60), and named Småknoltane ("the small knolls").
Ditto Knolls is a historic home and farm located near Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland, United States. It was built about 1790, and is a five-bay, two-story brick house with a two-bay, one-story brick rear wing. It features a one-story entrance porch supported by Doric columns. Also on the property is a large stone bank barn and springhouse.
Train stations were established every mile or so along the line, and villages developed around them. One of these stations was built in 1844 at the site of a river ford, Underhill's Crossing, which was later renamed Bronxville. Trains ran twice a day in each direction, 90 minutes each way. In 1876, Nathaniel Valentine bought the Cedar Knolls Farm and subdivided it.

The top is grassy with a number of small knolls and some outcropping rock. The highest point has an imposing square sectioned columnar cairn, and there are many other small cairns at other vantage points. Like many shorter hills in mountainous areas, the views from the summit are excellent, and Hallin Fell commands views across Martindale Common, High Street, Helvellyn, Blencathra and Ullswater.
Hartsop above How has a number of knolls along its length, the principal tops being above Gill Crag—the summit—and Gale Crag (). The ridge is generally grassy, but with considerable rock outcropping, particularly on the Deepdale side. The main faces here are Bleaberry Knott, Gale Crag, Holly Crag and Erne Nest Crag. Arenig Fawr South Top is the twin top of Arenig Fawr in southern Snowdonia, North Wales. It is the second highest member of the Arenig range, being 18 m less than its twin. From here the south ridge continues into an area of rocky knolls and small tarns, where Arenig Fawr South Ridge Top can be found.Nuttall, John & Anne (1999).
The second attempt in 1969 was successful, with residents voting 6,454 to 3,685 in favor of incorporation. 59% of eligible voters turned out for this vote. Susana Knolls is an unincorporated area of the Valley. Voters also voted whether to call this newly incorporated city ‘Santa Susana’ or ‘Simi Valley.’ The name Simi Valley garnered 2,000 more votes than Santa Susana.
The Cobbler Sandhills near Lake Blanche is a section of the Strzelecki Desert where the dunes are replaced by small eroded knolls, mostly with vegetation on the top. This area provided great difficulty for early attempts to cross the desert by car, and the name relates to the sheep which were the most difficult to shear, known as the "cobblers".
Geddes was formed from Salina on March 18, 1848. It lies upon the west bank of Onondaga Lake with level surface in the north and rolling hills in the south. In the southwest of the town, are several isolated, rounded drift hills (or knolls). The Seneca River forms the north border and Onondaga Creek formed part of the eastern boundary.

They are made up of basin and range fault blocks from the Oquirrh Range. Wildlife includes wild pronghorns, mountain lions, coyotes, rattle snakes, and a variety of lesser mammals. The knolls are home to Utah's largest herd of wild horses. Vegetation varies based on elevation, and includes a variety of sage species, cacti, milkweed, and a wide variety of wildflowers.
Hawthorne's residents are served by the Mount Pleasant Central School District, which includes the Hawthorne Elementary School, Columbus Elementary School, Westlake Middle School and Westlake High School (the latter three actually located in Thornwood). The NRF is a United States Department of Energy-Naval Reactors facility where three nuclear propulsion prototypes A1W, S1W and S5G were located. Surenne, Watt, Hogan and others have advanced notions that the site of the battle may have been Kempstone Hill, Megray Hill or other knolls near the Raedykes Roman camp.
The council operated The BSA Adventure Camp in Rochelle, Illinois in a joint venture with Three Fires Council. The council sold Camp Tomo-Chi-Chi-Knolls in Huntley, Illinois to the Kane County Forest Preserve District as of January 1, 2007. Many rocky knolls characterise the area, the most prominent being Blake Rigg and Great Intake. To the south east of Wetherlam is a further upland area, named Yewdale Fells on Ordnance Survey maps. Arenig Fawr South Ridge Top is a top of Arenig Fawr in southern Snowdonia, North Wales. It lies in area of rocky knolls and small tarns, found on the broad south ridge of Arenig Fawr. The summit, marked by a few stones, is a top of the highest rocky outcrop found in the area. The views are limited, blocked by the bulk of Arenig Fawr.
Many of the greens are located on top of knolls or small hills. The property is approximately . In general, the course provides plenty of room off the tee, with the real challenge being ahead at the green. The greens are often fast, with significant slope from back to front, and it is usually preferable to remain short of the hole rather than beyond the flag stick.
Lagunitas-Forest Knolls is a census-designated place, composed of two unincorporated areas in the western half of the San Geronimo Valley in Marin County, California, with San Geronimo and Woodacre to its east. The population was 1,819 at the 2010 census. The two towns are locally seen as separate. Geographically divided by narrow points in the San Geronimo Valley, each has its own small commercial center.

Totternhoe is an ancient village in southern Bedfordshire, near Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard. Totternhoe Knolls has been a fort for many peoples including Romans and Normans. Totternhoe Castle, of motte-and-bailey design, was built during the Norman period, probably during the years of the Anarchy, only the mound survives. Behind the knoll is a large chalk quarry producing Totternhoe Stone and modern lime kilns.
There is also service on route 62 from Point Reyes Station to Stinson Beach, with one trip continuing as route 68 from Point Reyes Station to the county seat San Rafael through Lagintas-Forest Knolls, San Anselmo and other communities in the San Geronimo Valley. Due to the town's geographic isolation, residents are, in most cases, taken to hospitals by helicopter instead of by ambulance in emergencies.
The majority of Sag Harbor lies on a flat, sandy coastal plain which makes up much of southern Long Island and extends along the southern coast of the island. It is the remains of a glacial moraine. Small hills rise up from the shore at about inland. Knolls and hills are dominated mostly by Red and Scarlet oak trees, which are interspersed with pitch and white pines.
An important role in shaping the terrain has always played a Caspian Sea, which level is constantly rising and falling. In prehistoric times the whole area was flooded and about 15 thousand years ago the sea receded. Settlement and its surroundings are located on the plain aggradation below sea level, as most of the Astrakhan Oblast. A notable feature of the plains are Baer knolls.
It consists of species-rich calcareous grassland and rock-face situated on Carboniferous Limestone. Steeper banks and knolls in the grassland have a flora which includes orchids Somerset Hair Grass (Koeleria vallesiana), and Honewort, (Trinia glauca) and the Goldilocks Aster (Galatella linosyris) along with several species of butterfly and Weevil (Curculionoidea). The site is approximately co-terminus with two local nature reserves, Uphill Hill and Walborough Common.
Highland Cemetery covers about 50 acres, with a rolling, sloped topography which includes knolls, valleys, and ravines. A number of structures dating from 1880-1925 are included on the grounds. As designed by Glen, the cemetery features curved paths through stands of trees. The cemetery is the site of the Starkweather Memorial Chapel which was commissioned by Mary Ann Starkweather to honor her husband.

Forest Knolls is a neighborhood of San Francisco, located within the Inner Sunset built on the southwestern side of Mount Sutro, near the main UCSF campus. Warren Drive is the southern and western border, Mount Sutro is the northern border and the Midtown Terrace neighborhood is to the east. Homes are mostly fully detached and many have views of the San Francisco Bay or Pacific Ocean.
Los Cerritos (sometimes called Los Cerritos/Virginia Country Club) is a neighborhood with approximately 700 homes and 2,000 residents located within the Bixby Knolls neighborhood of Long Beach, California. Established in 1906, the Los Cerritos neighborhood has been used by the film industry of Hollywood with its historic, estate-sized homes. It was one of three finalists in the 2007 Neighborhood of the Year national competition.

Tremont is part of the Peoria, Illinois Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the census of 2010, there were 5,500 people, 900 households, and 750 families residing in the village and the surrounding upscale subdivisions and agricultural areas. There are 4 main subdivisions of Tremont: Lake Windemere, Royal Colony, Hickory Hills and Lake Knolls. The population density was 2,128.8 people per square mile (824.6/km).

The range is bordered by the Sevier River, and its corridor, and related valley landforms, three valleys border to the west, and Juab Valley lies to the north-northeast. Though it is a north-south trending range, the center of the range contains a small north-trending valley, Japanese Valley. Various knolls exist on the southwest and south. The Sevier River borders the range on the north, northeast, east, and southeast.
This section of the fell is named Low Bank on Ordnance Survey maps and is clad primarily in bracken. The final section bears a series of rocky knolls, still rising slowly north westward. A tumbling descent of crag and scree then follows as the end of the ridge drops steeply to the valley floor, halfway along the shore of Crummock Water. Rannerdale farm lies below this terminal face.

The picturesque indented form of Angle Tarn lies just west of the depression between these fells. Protruding from this angle in the ridge like a swollen elbow is the main body of the fell. It consists of a circular area of high ground about half a mile across, with a number of rocky knolls. Brock Crags itself has two tops, the lower one having the OS spot height.
Just north of the summit are Allen Crag, Ewe Crag, Raven Crag and Thrang Crag, falling in tiers from the ridge. Further on, above Howe Grain, are more rock faces at Nickles, Halstead Brow and Winter Crag. Descending from Angletarn Pikes, Beda Fell begins as a series of rocky knolls on a narrowing ridge. The last of these is Bedafell Knott at 1,580 ft, after which grass generally prevails.
There has been much debate on how the low micritic limestone hills in the Craven Basin were formed, one theory led to them being called reef knolls, knoll reefs, or bioherms but work in 1972 by Miller & Grayson identified them as mud mounds with the same fossil content as those near Waulsort. They include accessible geological sites at Clitheroe Castle, Salthill and Bellman quarries, Crow Hill and Worsaw, Gerna and Sykes.
Its retaining wall is still largely intact. The ridge from Trough Head to Arnison Crag is fairly level and passes over a series of knolls. One of these- about halfway along- is the true summit, being high. Wainwright and later guidebook writers Richards, M: Lakeland Fells, Near Eastern Fells: Collins (2003): have chosen to ignore this top because it is grassy and too far back to give an adequate view.
However, the knolls at the Lafaurie, Luc and Plassotte Farms were even higher, the last-named rose above Saint-Boès. The three high points were crowned with French artillery. Aside from Saint-Boès, the ridge can be approached from the west by two spurs with marshy ground in between. Soult posted four and one-half divisions along this ridge, one division in Orthez and one division in reserve.
Medical care is available at Howard County General Hospital, affiliated with Baltimore's Johns Hopkins Hospital. The Columbia Medical Plan was founded in 1967 as a health maintenance organization (HMO) available to citizens of Columbia. In more recent years, however, this plan has divided into separate medical groups that simply share the Twin Knolls buildings. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in speech communication from Penn State in 1993. Benfatti was an All-State football player and heavyweight wrestler at Morris Knolls High School in Denville, New Jersey.
The Hughes Early Man Sites are a complex of prehistoric archaeological sites in central Kent County, Delaware, near the town of Felton. The complex includes six areas of concentrated finds located on well-drained knolls. Finds include a Clovis projectile point, a collection of notched projectile points, bifaces, and remnants of stone tool-making activities. The sites were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Streetsboro is a city in Portage County, Ohio, United States. It is formed from the former township of Streetsboro, which was formed from the Connecticut Western Reserve. It is nearly co-extant with the former Streetsboro Township; the village of Sugar Bush Knolls was also formed in part from a small portion of the former township. The population was 12,311 at the 2000 census, and 16,028 at the 2010 census.
Yimbun Railway Tunnel is located between and from Wulkuraka station along the former Brisbane Valley Branch Line formation and is sited beneath a saddle between two knolls. Yimbun Railway Tunnel is a semi-elliptical, concrete-lined, straight tunnel that is long and has a gradient of 1:165 against north-bound traffic. It has an earthen floor and is approximately high at its apex. Both portals feature the date "1910".
The Beaver Lake Mountains is made up of three basic sections: the southwest contains a massif of the Beaver Lake Mountains, at , about in diameter. Adjacent to the northeast is Lime Mountain. (The lower elevation, and smaller Badger Knolls, , are just east.) The Rocky Range is a long separate mountain range to the southeast, and is surrounded by washes to the southwest and northwest, that connect eastwards to the Beaver River.
A long line of crags also stands above Grains Gill on the eastern side, looming above the popular path from Seathwaite to Esk Hause. The western face, although rough, drops more gently down to Styhead Gill. In addition to a number of rocky knolls, the summit ridge also carries numerous small tarns. None are named on Ordnance Survey maps, although the one below the south top is of a reasonable size.
A Platoon had avoided the worst of the bombardment but lost contact with the rest of A Company and continued the attack. The majority of the homes in the area were custom-built between 1920 and 1940, providing a variety of home architecture. Small shops and restaurants dot a strip of Atlantic Avenue south of San Antonio and north of the 405 Freeway, as well as on the streets surrounding this main thoroughfare. Andenes Knoll () is the southeasternmost knoll in a group of three knolls in the Weddell Sea, the other two being Explora Knoll and Polarstern Knoll. It was named for the Norwegian coast-guard vessel K.V. Andenes, the name being proposed by Dr. Heinrich Hinze of the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research, Bremerhaven, Germany, and approved by the Advisory Committee on Undersea Features in June, 1997.
This is an area of hummocks and knolls with soil that ranges from poorly drained to moderately well drained. Soil permeability is slow to moderately slow. The main branch of Euclid Creek gently meanders over a nearly level plateau through the cities of Lyndhurst, Mayfield Heights, Richmond Heights, South Euclid, and Euclid. Soil permeability improves in Richmond Heights, South Euclid, and Euclid, ranging from moderately slow to moderately rapid.
The Davis Knolls () is a system of semi-arid desert hills, situated southeast of Dugway, Utah in Skull Valley (Utah). It was extensively studied and mapped by the University of Utah in 1962, under the direction of James Harrill. Geologically, the region consists of seven gravel outcroppings that all run North to South, with small valleys between them. These outcroppings have an average relief of between 200 and 600 feet.
Kitchen received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ (1980). Before his video game career, Kitchen developed electronic toys at Wickstead Design Associates, in Cedar Knolls, New Jersey. In 1979, Kitchen was an engineer on Wildfire, a handheld electronic game distributed by Parker Brothers. After Wildfire, in 1982, Kitchen co-invented the handheld electronic game Bank Shot, a pool simulation also distributed by Parker Brothers.
The roundnose grenadier is found in the northern Atlantic Ocean at depths between and occasionally at much greater depths. It tends to spend the summer in deep waters and the winter in shallower locations. Its range normally extends from Baffin Island, Greenland, Iceland and Norway south to the New England Seamounts and North Africa. It is found on continental shelves and in the vicinity of seamounts and knolls.
KAPL operates two sites in New York, the Knolls site in Niskayuna and the Kenneth A. Kesselring site in West Milton. Niskayuna is the primary site for the KAPL, focusing on the design and development of naval propulsion plants and reactor cores. Fosbury Camp, is the site of an Iron Age bivallate hillfort located in Wiltshire. The site is oval in shape, and approximately 26 acres in area The site is a scheduled national monument number WI162. The fort sits atop Knolls Down and is excellently defended to the south, south west, and east, from the very steeply sloped topology. To the north the land is less steep, and is mostly bounded by Oakhill Wood.

Eleazer Hart House is a historic home located at 243 Bronxville Road in the Cedar Knolls section of Southeast Yonkers, Westchester County, New York. It was built in 1788 and is a Federal period residence. The building incorporates an earlier tenant farmhouse dating from the Philipse Manor era (1684–1783) and most likely dates to about 1760. The older house is a -story, three-by-two-bay building on a stone foundation.
The main structures of this group are oriented to the west and include: a large square platform, with a central plaza and knolls in three sides; a large terrace or Plaza 2 with an altar; and a ballgame court I shaped, 70 meters long. The explorations in the residential zones produced findings of tombs and burials with ceramics and other offerings. There are five main sets at the site, each with several structures.

They are located on a seafloor hill named "Chapopote," Nahuatl for "tar." The site is located in a field of salt domes known as the Campeche Knolls, a series of steep hills formed from salt bodies that rise from underlying rock, a common feature in the gulf. The research team documented tar flows as wide as across. Also discovered alongside the asphalt were areas soaked with petroleum and methane hydrate, also spewed from the volcano.
Austin Creek State Recreation Area is a state park unit of California, United States, encompassing an isolated wilderness area. It is located in Sonoma County, California, adjacent to Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve, with which it shares a common entrance. Its rugged topography includes ravines, grassy hillsides, oak-capped knolls, and rocky summits offering glimpses of the Pacific Ocean. There are of trails, panoramic wilderness views, and camping (both back-country and vehicle-accessible).

The Sugarloaf Mountain of Rio de Janeiro is a typical example of this landform and is the origin of the common bornhardt nickname "sugar loaf". Bornhardts are seen at their best in arid and semi-arid regions, but occur over a wide range of climates. Found in diverse topographic settings they mainly occur in multicyclic landscapes. Over geological time bornhardts may degrade to form other landforms such as nubbins (or knolls) and castle koppies.
San Geronimo (formerly Nicasio Station) is a census-designated place (CDP) located in the San Geronimo Valley in Marin County, California in the United States. San Geronimo is located with Lagunitas-Forest Knolls to its west, Woodacre to its east, and southwest of downtown Novato, at an elevation of 292 feet (89 m). The population was 446 at the 2010 census. San Geronimo is the home of the San Geronimo Golf Course.

Professor Aikens categorized the pottery sherds found in the cave into 6 types: Great Salt Lake Grey, Knolls Grey, Snake Valley Grey, Snake Valley Corrugated, Promontory ware, and Shoshoni ware.Aikens 1970, p. 31-32 The first pottery appeared in Stratum 12, increasing in later strata, and continued to Stratum 16. Aikens explained that the frequency distribution of the pottery suggested concurrent use of the cave by makers of both types of pottery.
Another early image manipulation program was Adobe Photoshop. It was first called Display and was created in 1987 by Thomas Knoll at the University of Michigan as monochrome picture display program. Wendover is on the western border of Utah, and is contiguous with West Wendover, Nevada. Interstate 80 runs just north of both cities, while Interstate 80 Business (Wendover Boulevard) runs through the two cities. The Wendover Cut-off was the former path of the Victory Highway as well as U.S. Route 40 to Wendover. Today it serves as a frontage road between Wendover and Knolls just to the south of the Interstate.

The close relative of P. intermedium is probably "Elodon transsilvanicus" (Kretzoi, 1941) from Oligocene of Romania because of similarity of knolls on their molars. In spite of this, Paraentelodon have more common features with Asian and North American entelodonts. It was similar in size and form to the giant entelodont, Daeodon, of early Miocene of North America.
When travelling clockwise, Crinkle Crags is the last of the high cirque of fells forming the head of upper Eskdale. It sends out a trio of ridges to the south, running parallel like the prongs of a trident. Working from the west these ridges culminate in Hard Knott, Little Stand and Cold Pike. The Cold Pike ridge begins indistinctly in an area of rocky knolls and small tarns beneath the Fifth Crinkle.
It is rich in fossils: mainly Crinoid ossicles together with gastropods and brachiopods. There has been much debate on how these mud mounds were formed. One theory led to them being called reef knolls, knoll reefs, or bioherms but work in 1972 by Miller & Grayson explained their structure. Clitheroe Castle is the most southwesterly of a chain of mudmounds in the Bowland Sub-basin of the Craven Basin, that has been dubbed the Clitheroe 'Reef' Belt.
The A Line maintenance and storage yard is located between the Wardlow and Del Amo stations. The station entrance is at 3420 N Pacific Pl, Long Beach, CA 90806. The exit from the nearby 405 freeway is Long Beach Blvd (exit 30B - follow signs for Bixby Knolls and merge onto Long Beach Blvd - take 1st left onto E Wardlow and next right on to N. Pacific Pl). There are entrances to both the 405 and 710 freeways from Wardlow.
On January 28, 2011, Lovato completed inpatient treatment at Timberline Knolls and returned home. She acknowledged that she had bulimia, had cut herself, and had been "self-medicating" with drugs and alcohol "like a lot of teens do to numb their pain". She added that she "basically had a nervous breakdown" and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder during her treatment. Lovato later said that she had used cocaine several times a day and smuggled cocaine onto airplanes.
Measure P was placed on the November 2013 ballot, but failed to pass. Measure P would have funded capital programs to add a fifth grade to Bowditch Middle School and reopen Knolls Elementary, but debates on Measure P exposed a rift between Foster City and San Mateo residents who felt that Measure P provided disproportionate benefits to the smaller Foster City. Final voting showed support for Measure P in Foster City was outweighed by opposition in San Mateo.
Sugar Bush Knolls withdrew in 1965 and both Kent and Brady Lake formally separated from the township in 1993. Franklin Township is included in the Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area and the larger Cleveland-Akron-Elyria Combined Statistical Area. Located on the western end of the Glaciated Allegheny Plateau, the topography of Franklin Township includes rolling hills and varied terrain. Lake Rockwell, the main drinking water source for the city of Akron, is in the northeastern part of the township.
Del Mue was born in 1875 in Paris, France, and he emigrated to the United States at age 7. He was trained at the San Francisco Art Association and the École des Beaux-Arts. Del Mue began his career as an illustrator for the San Francisco Chronicle in the 1920s. He designed posters for Foster & Kleiser until 1941, when he established his studio in Forest Knolls, Marin County and he joined the Society of Marin Artists.
The spine of the Central Fells runs north from High Raise, forming the watershed between Thirlmere and Borrowdale. A number of lesser ridges radiate out eastwards from High Raise, centred upon the subsidiary top of Sergeant Man. One of these runs between the valleys of Far Easedale and Easedale, terminating at their confluence above Grasmere village. The ridge is narrow to the east of the summit, rising over a series of knolls between the gradually diverging valleys.
Rocky Woods contains rugged, granite hills and knolls with occasional scenic vistas, boulder caves, rock formations, narrow ravines and defiles, glacial erratics, and local boulders. Six pondlets (originally constructed as fire suppression pump ponds) are located on the property: Chickering Pond, Echo Pond, Notch Pond, June Pond, Little Chickering Pond, and part of an unnamed sixth pond. The rugged, rocky terrain of Rocky Woods was formed via glacial action during the last ice age through glacial plucking and scouring.

Illustrated complete with sewer lines were the first three roads to be built: Swain Street (now Pondfield Road West), Dellwood Road, and Beachbrook Avenue (now Birch Brook Road). Marketing of the subdivision by the ultimate developer of Cedar Knolls, the Merrilees Corporation, first appeared in a local paper (The News) in 1912. By 1912, extensive excavation of an extension of Swain Street allowed for a connection to Pondfield Road in Bronxville. Swain Street was then renamed Pondfield Road West.
The terrain surrounding Kunersdorf suited itself better to defense than offense. Between the Frankfurt dam, a long earthen bulwark that helped to contain the Oder river, and to the north of Kunersdorf itself stretched a line of knolls; Judenberge (Jews Hill), Mühlberge (Mill Hill) and Walkberge (also spelled Walckberge). None was more than high. The hillocks were steeper on the north side than the south, but bounded by a marshy, boggy meadow called the Elsbusch, or the Alder wasteland.
Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in New York has the longest operational history of NPTUs. However, two other sites also provided operational training during the Cold War. From the early 1950s to the mid-1990s, Naval Reactors Facility (NRF) in Idaho trained nearly 40,000 Navy personnel in surface and submarine nuclear power plant operations with three nuclear propulsion prototypes -- A1W, S1W, and S5G. From 1959 until 1993, over 14,000 Naval operators were trained at the S1C prototype at Windsor, Connecticut.
The neighborhood is bordered on the west by Stanyan Street and the Sutro Forest, on the south by Tank Hill, and on the east by Clayton Street. The main commercial strip is condensed into three blocks along Cole Street and part of Carl Street. This strip includes more than a dozen restaurants and cafés. Cole Valley is surrounded by the neighborhoods of Inner Sunset, Haight Ashbury, Buena Vista/Ashbury Heights, Corona Heights, Clarendon Heights, and Forest Knolls.
At an elevation of above sea level, Ariano Irpino is centered between the Adriatic Sea and the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is 39 km east of Benevento, 51 km north-east of Avellino and 62 km south-west of Foggia. Formerly called just Ariano, it was built on three hills, and for that reason it is also known as Città del Tricolle (City of the Three Knolls). From 1868 to 1930 it was known as Ariano di Puglia.

The steeply sloping spoil heaps have developed into grasslands which have a wide variety of flowers, including orchids. Grass chalkland is a habitat under threat, and the site has a number of rare plant species, including great pignut. It also has butterflies such as the chalkhill blue and the nationally rare Duke of Burgundy. There is access from a footpath between Sewell Cutting and Totternhoe and from Totternhoe Knolls, which is also part of Totternhoe nature reserve.

The Monroe area of Whippany is located around Whippany Road and Cedar Knolls Road, marked by a building in the intersection named Monroe Hall. Until the post-World War II suburbanization of New Jersey, Hanover Township was a sparsely populated industrial town known for its iron works and paper mills. This industry was driven by the ever-present power of the Whippany River. Over the second half of the twentieth century, the Township became thoroughly suburban.

Seamounts can be found in every ocean basin in the world, distributed extremely widely both in space and in age. A seamount is technically defined as an isolated rise in elevation of or more from the surrounding seafloor, and with a limited summit area, of conical form. There are more than 14,500 seamounts. In addition to seamounts, there are more than 80,000 small knolls, ridges and hills less than 1,000 m in height in the world's oceans.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 43.2 square miles (112.0 km), of which 43.1 square miles (111.5 km) is land and 0.2 square miles (0.5 km), or 0.44%, is water. The western border of the township is the Ohio state line. The township surrounds the boroughs of Bessemer and S.N.P.J. and includes the unincorporated communities of Mount Jackson, Sunnyside, Willow Grove, Jackson Knolls Gardens, Derringer Corners, and Moravia.
The western end point of the New Castle system is on Route 91, on U.S. 422 at the Country Manor Social Hall at the Ohio/Pennsylvania border , about 3 miles from the easternmost point in the WRTA system (Route 32 Wilson-Struthers, U.S. 422 at Struthers-Liberty Road). The New Castle system formerly served the nearby Lincoln Knolls Plaza and made a direct connection with the WRTA route, but New Castle buses no longer enter Ohio.
In the immediate neighborhood of the Brahmaputra, the land is low and exposed to annual inundation. In this marshy tract reeds and canes flourish luxuriantly, and the only cultivation is that of rice. At a comparatively short distance from the river banks the ground begins to rise in undulating knolls towards the mountains of Bhutan on the north, and towards the Khasi hills on the south. The hills south of the Brahmaputra in some parts reach the height of .
After Vassar's death, the lands were divided among several other local families, who continued to work the landscape. Judge Homer Nelson, New York's Secretary of State, bought the southern half of the property and renamed it Hudson Knolls. He lived elsewhere while a boardinghouse operated on the site. The northern half was purchased by local shoe manufacturer John Whitehouse, who merged it with his own adjoining property to the west of the site, retaining the Springside name.
Most of the camp was located in between Camas Creek and Spring Creek, although the tent of General Oliver O. Howard was located on a rise to the east of Spring Creek. The siege site is located further to the northeast, at about . Its principal features are two low knolls at which the detachment of Captain Randolph Norwood took refuge from the numerically superior Nez Perce. In this area the soldiers dug out several rifle pits, which survive.
Finding the controls should require skill rather than luck. They should therefore be placed at a small identifiable feature—depressions, knolls, small reentrants—not in the middle of a field of tall grass, but also not too close to the top of a hill that anyone can find. Try to avoid legs which just require physical effort but no skill. Place controls before linear features instead of after them so that more skilled navigators have an advantage.
The Lagunitas School District is a public K-8 school district located 18 miles northwest of San Francisco in western-central Marin County, California. Bending east, the parkway crosses over NY 25 (Jericho Turnpike), entering exit 31A, which serves the northern terminus of the Meadowbrook State Parkway in Westbury. After the interchange, the parkway proceeds northeast, passing under Carle Road in Westbury, entering The Hedges section, where exit 32, serving Post Road, interchanges. The Northern State then crosses through Birchwood Knolls and West Jericho as a six-lane parkway, where it enters exit 33, the northern terminus of the Wantagh State Parkway.
The top of the fell is a broad plateau with a number of small rocky knolls rising above areas of heather and bog. The summit is the rocky Airy Crag, on which an Ordnance Survey triangulation pillar has been built. This now bears a National Trust plaque, reflecting the ownership of the land. Views from here include the two Mell Fells, Blencathra and the Northern Fells, and the northern parts of the Helvellyn range including the Dodds.
The lagoons enclose a variety of reef structures including faros, micro-atolls, patch reefs and knolls. The main habitat types found in the reserve are coral reefs, islands, sea grass beds and mangroves. Coral reefs are the most important habitat type in terms of area as well as biodiversity. Maldivian coral reefs are home to the richest diversity in the region and are the seventh largest in the world, accounting for 5% of the world’s reef area.
Long Beach Polytechnic High School, founded in 1895 as Long Beach High School, is a four year public high school located at 1600 Atlantic Avenue in Long Beach, California, United States. The school serves portions of Long Beach, including Bixby Knolls, and some parts of the cities of Signal Hill and Lakewood. Polytechnic (more commonly known as Poly) is the flagship high school of the Long Beach Unified School District. It is a large urban high school with about 4,000 students.

During the 19th and 20th centuries, industries developed along the Mohawk River, especially concentrated in Schenectady in this county. Farming continued in outlying areas. The headquarters of General Electric and Westinghouse Electric developed in the city of Schenectady, which became a center of broad-reaching innovation in uses of electricity and a variety of consumer products. After World War II, the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory was opened in 1946 in Niskayuna, under a contract between General Electric and the US government.
The highest are Old Man of Coniston and Swirl How which slightly exceed . The third group to the west of the Duddon includes Harter Fell and the long ridge leading over Whitfell to Black Combe and the sea. The south of this region consists of lower forests and knolls, with Kirkby Moor on the southern boundary. The southwestern Lake District ends near the Furness peninsula and Barrow-in-Furness, a town which many Lake District residents rely on for basic amenities.
San Geronimo Valley is located in Marin County, California, composed of four unincorporated towns: Woodacre, San Geronimo, Forest Knolls, and Lagunitas. It is a fairly close-knit community, with a rather liberal citizenry. The farther west one goes along the valley, the more forested the land becomes. The valley is bisected roughly east-to-west by Sir Francis Drake Boulevard; a number of streets in the towns along this road were constructed on the former right-of- way of the Northwestern Pacific Railroad.
Conaumet Cove, Lowell Holly Reservation The Lowell Holly Reservation is a nature reserve in Mashpee and Sandwich, Massachusetts and is managed by the Trustees of Reservations. The area was extensively planted by Abbot Lawrence Lowell and Wilfred Wheeler with rhododendrons, mountain laurel and holly trees, for which the reservation gets its name. There are of hiking trails and two peninsular knolls that jut into Mashpee Pond and Wakeby Pond. Abbot Lawrence Lowell bequeathed the property to the Trustees of Reservations in 1943.
Nottingham Country is a master-planned community developed during the 1970s and 1980s in multiple phases by the Kickerillo Companies in Harris County, Texas, lying in unincorporated Harris County between the cities of Katy, Texas and Houston, Texas, with a population of approximately 5,000. there were 2,400 residences. Nottingham Country was built in the 1970s and 1980s. It is bordered by Interstate 10 at the north, Westgreen Boulevard to the west, Fry Road to the east, and Highland Knolls Drive to the south.
In contrast, the knolls in the group that are affected by bottom trawling are mostly barren, with few coral and a completely different ecosystem. In 2001, witnessing the damage of bottom trawling to seamount communities, 19 seamounts off the coast of New Zealand were closed off to bottom trawling, three of them from the Graveyard group. Timed surveys of the seamounts over the years are being used to examine how well a seamount coral community recovers from the effects of dredging over time.
Nuclear Propulsion While exact specifications are classified, the S6G reactor can propel a Los Angeles-class submarine at over when surfaced and over while submerged. Design and operational support for the S6G is provided by Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (KAPL).KAPL: What We Do The S6G reactor plant was originally designed to use the D1G-2 core, similar to the D2G reactor used on the guided missile cruiser. All Los Angeles-class submarines from on were built with a D2W core.
Woodacre is an unincorporated town and census-designated place (CDP) located in the eastern half of the San Geronimo Valley in Marin County, California, with San Geronimo and Lagunitas-Forest Knolls to its west. Woodacre is located south-southwest of Novato, and 8 miles northwest of San Rafael; the nearest incorporated town is Fairfax, 4 miles east-southeast. At 364 feet (111 m), Woodacre has the highest base elevation in Marin County. The population was 1,348 at the 2010 census.
In the Knolls subdivision, Ridgeview Middle school serves students in grades 6-8. Just to the north of Olentangy West, Centennial High School serves all students in the area in grades 9-12 and is recognized as one of the top High Schools in the United States by U.S. News & World Report. Additionally, semi-public The Metro School is located in the southern portion of the area on Ohio State's west campus. Private schools include St. Timothy School, a Catholic school.
On the east it is becoming coupled with North America, while the western side becomes part of the Pacific Plate. Earthquakes also occur due to the separating of the Pacific and North American Plates along the Queen Charlotte Basin. Seismic recording studies have been made in the region with the two most active regions being the immediate area surrounding the Dellwood knolls and the Dellwood-Revere fracture zone (refer to fig.1).Riddihough, R. DELLWOOD KNOLLS AND THEIR ROLE IN TRIPLE JUNCTION TECTONICS OFF NORTHERN VANCOUVER ISLAND. Canadian Journal of Earth Sciences, 17(5), 577–593. The magnitudes ranged from 0.2–3.2 in 76 events over the course of the 15-day study; however, magnitudes in the region have gone up to a magnitude 6.4 within the last 5 years. Using the locations of these epicentres it is possible to map the Pacific plate boundary along the Dellwood valley where the concentrations of events occur.
Small fortifications restrict access to rocky knolls, a promontory, and a stack; a wall also bars access to the top of An Sgurr, a quarter of a mile west from the summit, except for a single narrow entrance. More substantial Duns existed at Galmisdale Point, at Upper Grulin, and at Loch nam Ban Mora; the last of these is located on a natural island (entirely encompassed by the Dun's walls,) which local traditions claim was once inhabited by unusually large women.
The brigade of Robert Ross swept through Saint-Boès but was repulsed by the battery on the Plassotte knoll. When his soldiers fell back into the village, Cole brought up a KGL battery to duel with Taupin's guns. The battery immediately became the target of the French batteries on the Plassotte and Luc knolls; two guns were knocked out and Captain Frederick Sympher was killed. Cole deployed José Vasconcellos' Portuguese brigade on Ross' right and sent his line forward again.
The Whippany line is M&E;'s original main line, in use since 1903 and with some portions dating back to 1895. The 9-mile (14.48 km) line runs between Baker Interlocking (connection with NJT's Morristown Line in Morristown, where M&E;'s main office, yard, and shop are located) northeast to Roseland in Essex County. The line is single track and has many grade crossings. It serves Cedar Knolls and Whippany in Hanover Township, and East Hanover and Roseland.
"A co-worker, Brandi Wine, asked Fyfe, a native of Denville, if she'd like to train with her and become a professional wrestler. Soon, Fyfe, known as MaryBeth Bentley during her days at Morris Knolls High School, was in the ring." She spent a couple of years in Toledo, Ohio and St. Petersburg, Florida when she was very young. Bentley went to Elon College in North Carolina and now resides in Tampa, Florida after a couple of years in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
The new school sign: A project sponsored by the Student Government Association in conjunction with the Class of 2008 and the Interact Club. The Student Government Association (SGA) of Morris Knolls is composed of five elected Senior officers, and six elected representatives from each class. Members of the SGA organize school wide events to promote school spirit, and interact regularly with the Administration regarding school activities and improvements. Each class has four elected officers; President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary.

In February 2000, a core group of parents, community members, and administrators founded Peoria Academy as an independent, private, non-profit school, serving students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. A 3 million dollar capital campaign was established to purchase the Knights of Columbus building on Willow Knolls Drive and renovations began immediately. Peoria Academy opened its doors in August 2000 with 137 students. In 2001, a Pre-K program was added, and additional classes were added at each grade level.
The 1960 population number as reported by the VCPD is a little less than double when compared to the Census figure. This is likely due to the different geographical areas which were included in the count. Census data included Santa Susana and Simí, while the table below is an example of the areas which the VCPD included – Burro Flats (Knolls), Santa Susana, Simí Urban (town of Simí), Tripas-Tapo (area north of Santa Susana). It’s unclear where Community Center was categorized.
Nelson, the founder of the Red Ball Line shipping company, lived in the former boardinghouse with his family. He bequeathed it to his wife, and she in turn passed it on to their children. The two daughters and son kept the property in the family and lived in various of its buildings. Gerald Nelson moved his family into the Hudson Knolls mansion, which Homer Nelson's widow had built anew in 1911 after the former boardinghouse had succumbed to a fire three years previously.
Accessed May 21, 2015. Green Village is the site of the Rolling Knolls Landfill, a landfill identified by the United States Environmental Protection Agency as a Superfund site. The landfill is bordered on two sides by the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, and was formerly known as Miele's Dump, after owner Robert Miele. In operation from the 1930s until the late 1960s, the landfill accepted a wide variety of waste material from municipal and industrial sources, including residential septage and pharmaceutical materials.
The South Burying Ground occupies a roughly rectangular on the west side of Winchester Street, a short way south of Massachusetts Route 9 in Newton Highlands. The cemetery's primary topographical features are two knolls, which flank the main entrance. The street-facing front and parts of the sides of the cemetery are lined by a stone wall that is probably of 19th century origin. A chain link fence is mounted on the wall, and encircles the rest of the property.
After mating, the hen leaves the lek for the nesting grounds. Open areas such as swales, irrigated fields, meadows, burns, roadsides, and areas with low, sparse sagebrush cover are used as leks. Of 45 leks, 11 were on windswept ridges or exposed knolls, 10 were in flat sagebrush, seven were in bare openings, and the remaining 17 were on various other site types. Leks are usually surrounded by areas with 20 to 50% sagebrush cover, with sagebrush no more than tall.
The spiny-back eel is a deep sea, demersal fish, living at depths between about in the Southern Hemisphere, in subtropical, temperate and subpolar waters. Its range includes the continental slope of South Africa, from Walvis Bay to Durban, the continental slope of South America from Brazil to Chile, and the continental slope to the south of Australia from Western Australia to Tasmania and New South Wales, as well as New Zealand. It is also found on knolls and seamounts.
Burke Centre is a planned community that was formerly part of the Burke CDP but is now a separate census-designated area. It is located west of Burke and is divided into five subcommunities: The Commons, The Landings, The Oaks, The Ponds and The Woods. Other notable communities in the Burke area include Rolling Valley West, Burke Village I & II, Lakepointe, Longwood Knolls, Burke Lake Meadows, Edgewater, Lake Braddock, Signal Hill, Crownleigh, and Cherry Run along with Burke Station Square.
The Porcupine Abyssal Plain is a vast, relatively level stretch of seabed with a depth range of . It has a muddy floor in the abyssopelagic zone and scattered rocky abyssal hills that rise into the bathypelagic zone forming seamounts and knolls. The water at this depth is relatively stable and moving slowly towards the south and southeast. There is a downward flow of organic detritus derived from primary production in the upper layers of ocean that settles on the sea floor.

Several factors contribute to the biodiversity of Bartholomew's Cobble. First, the region is so spacially and climatically located that it contains a number of species that reach the northern or southern limit of their range in North America. Second, the property is located at the boundary of two distinct state bioregions: the marble valley lowlands of The Berkshires geology and the Taconic uplands. Third, the Cobbles, twin rocky knolls abutting the Housatonic River, are composed of quartzite, an acidic rock, and marble, an alkaline (calcareous) rock.

KAPL was instituted in 1946 under a contract between General Electric and the United States government. In the 21st century, KAPL is a government-owned, contractor-operated laboratory for the US Department of Energy. KAPL is responsible for the research, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of U.S. nuclear-powered warships.
Santa Rita Union School District is located in Salinas, California, USA. The district consists of Gavilan View Middle School (grades 6-8), Bolsa Knolls Middle School (grades 6-8), La Joya Elementary School (K-5), Santa Rita Elementary School (K-5), McKinnon Elementary School (K-5), and New Republic Elementary School (K-5). The district office is currently located in front of Gavilan View Middle School on Russell Road. The district office used to be located about a half mile away in a smaller building.
The southeastern area is the territory between Coniston Water and Windermere and east of Windermere towards Kendal and south to Lindale. There are no high summits in this area which is mainly low hills, knolls and limestone cuestas such as Gummer's How and Whitbarrow. Indeed, it rises only as high as at Top o' Selside east of Coniston Water; the wide expanse of Grizedale Forest stands between the two lakes. Kendal and Morecambe Bay stand at the eastern and southern edges of the area.
The project to build the stadium was simultaneous with the redevelopment of the southern half of the property on the other side of Central Avenue into a shopping center, with a UofL themed Kroger store as its anchor. All of the site is owned by Faulkner Hinton & Associates, including the stadium itself. UofL currently holds a 99-year lease on the stadium site. At its opening, the stadium had 1,500 chairback seats, with several knolls along the outfield wall which seat an additional 1,000 people.
The potential for gas hydrate accumulations in the Campeche Knolls was demonstrated as early as 1970, with the retrieval of gassy cores from Site 88 drilled during Leg 10 of the Deep Sea Drilling Program (DSDP). DSDP Site 88 was drilled to demonstrate that the topographic high seen on profiler records was a salt diapir. Clarke sits on an intimate campus located atop a prominent hill in Dubuque. The college consists of 16 buildings, an athletic field, and features large, grassy knolls along the south and east sides of campus for areas of study and recreation. The grounds are bounded by West Locust Street on the south, Clarke Crest Court on the north, Clarke Crest Drive on the east, and North Grandview Avenue on the west. Clarke Drive is the "main street" through the campus, bisecting it into "north" and "south" sides.

In addition, Ecolé Kenwood (a French immersion school) is a Magnet school with enrollment via lottery that serves grades K-8 and is located in Greenfield Estates.
When properly executed the play of this green is one of the most pleasing and interesting plays in golf. The tee for this hole is 48 feet above the surface of the water, partially crossing the fairway. Directly in front of the approach a broad bunker runs across the fairway necessitating a carry of 150 yards to safety. The fairway is flanked on either side by high knolls so that a straight shooting and a 150-yard carry are the compelling influence of the hole.

In 1943 he was recruited by Hans Bethe to help Edward Teller's staff of researchers at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico develop the thermonuclear reactions for the hydrogen bomb. In 1946, Hurwitz became one of the first scientists to work at GE's Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Schenectady, New York. In 1947 he transferred to the GE Research and Development Center to become manager of the Nucleonics and Radiation Branch. His team of scientists used advanced theta- pinch techniques to harness fusion reactions.
Carlton Edward Lemke (October 11, 1920 - April 12, 2004) was an American mathematician. Lemke received his bachelor's degree in 1949 at the University of Buffalo and his PhD (Extremal problem in Linear Inequalities) in 1953 at Carnegie Mellon University (then Carnegie Institute of Technology). In 1952-1954 he was instructor at the Carnegie Institute of Technology and in 1954-55 at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory of General Electric. In 1955-56 he was an engineer at the Radio Corporation of America in New Jersey.
Totternhoe Knolls is a 13.1 hectare Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in Totternhoe in Bedfordshire. It is also a local nature reserve, and part of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The site is owned by Central Bedfordshire Council and leased to the National Trust. Most of the site is maintained jointly by the National Trust and the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire (WTBCN), and is part of the WTBCN Totternhoe nature reserve, which also includes Totternhoe Chalk Quarry and Totternhoe Stone Pit.
The former Corriganville Movie Ranch and its Fort Apache film set, now Corriganville Regional Park, is the Santa Susana Knolls. During the Depression, the Davey Tree Company operated a nursery and experimental tree farm on the site of what is now called the Village of Sugar Bush Knolls. The village was named for the sugar maple trees which originally stood near Lake Martin. The Davey Company owned the land where the village is now located and kept horses in the barn on Ferguson Road where the Framptons would later live. The company owned the small white house on the corner of Ferguson and Lake Martin Drive.
Born Nancy Burr Deloye in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, she became the first female student to study chemical engineering at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, graduating with a bachelor's degree in 1949. Hired by Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in 1950, she worked as an assistant engineer with the heat transfer group. In 1952, she became a development engineer for General Electric, initially working on the Hermes Missile Program and designing heat transfer surfaces for nuclear reactor cores. Nancy would remain with the General Electric company for the next 37 years.

North Long Beach (or "Northtown") is a predominantly working-class area of Long Beach, California. The neighborhood is bounded to the west, north and east by the Long Beach city limits (the Rancho Dominguez unincorporated county area and the cities of Compton, Paramount, Bellflower and Lakewood), and to the south by Del Amo Boulevard and the Bixby Knolls neighborhood. The north boundary with Paramount is only a few blocks north of the Artesia Freeway (California State Route 91). North Long Beach is mostly residential.
At the west side of the Tindley Peaks is Horse Bluff, surveyed by the British Antarctic Survey from 1970, and so named from a distinctive feature on the bluff resembling a horse's head. South of the Tindley Peaks is McArthur Glacier. Swine Hill is the southernmost of two rugged, rocky knolls, high, which stand west-northwest of the summit of Mount Bagshawe on the west coast of Palmer Land. The hill overlooks Gadarene Lake, a meltwater lake long in the ice shelf of George VI Sound.

His younger brother, Walter Fürnberg, was born in 1913. After the First World War and the dissolution of Austria-Hungary, they became citizens of Czechoslovakia. Fürnberg attended Gymnasium in Karlovy Vary. Following his father's wishes, he began an apprenticeship as an artistic ceramist in Knolls Porzellanfabrik (Knoll's Porcelain Factory) in Fischern (now ), but he had to withdraw in 1926 due to tubercular disease. To construct Atkinson's house, earth was removed and this was found to be a burial mound. Three burial urns were found containing bones and charcoal. They were earthenware made of light clay and about eighteen inches tall. Dublitskiy Bay () is a bay 12 nautical miles (22 km) wide indenting the ice shelf fringing the coast of Queen Maud Land. The bay lies 70 nautical miles (130 km) north of the Sigurd Knolls, and is separated from Kamenev Bight by Cape Krasinskiy. The feature was photographed from the air by the Sixth Norwegian Antarctic Expedition in 1958–59 and mapped from these photos. It was also mapped in 1961 by the Soviet Antarctic Expedition and named for K.A. Dublitskiy, former captain of the icebreaker Fyodor Litke.

In June 2008, a 7-1 decision of the United States Supreme Court placed the burden on all employers to prove that a layoff affecting older workers is based on reasonable factors other than age, reversing a lower court that placed the burden of proving age discrimination on the dismissed employees. The long- running case, Meacham v. Knolls Atomic Power Lab (Docket 06-1505), was filed by 28 of 31 employees dismissed during downsizing at the lab in 1996.

Gabelich drove a split window 1960 era Volkswagen delivery van for Vermillion's Drug store in his younger days. He lived with his parents in the Bixby Knolls area of Long Beach, California during this time. He later went to work for North American Aviation which became North American Rockwell after a 1967 merger with Rockwell-Standard. Gabelich started in the mail room and stayed for nine years in various positions from staff assistant before becoming a part-time test subject for Project Apollo in the years 1968 and 1969.
These nuclear fission pressurized water reactors (PWRs) were jointly designed by Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory and built by Westinghouse Electric Company. Their reactor cores are expected to operate for about 25 years before refueling is required. The only ships to use these nuclear reactors are the Nimitz-class supercarriers, which have two reactors rated at 550 MWth each. These generate enough steam to produce approximately 100 MW of electricity, plus 140,000 shaft horsepower (104 MW) for each of the ship's four shafts – two per propulsion plant.
Each elementary program (Open Classroom, Montessori-inspired) has its own unique philosophy and pedagogical methods, all working within the framework of the California professional and academic standards. Each program involves parent participation to some degree. On March 6, 2000, Squad Co. 1 was decommissioned and re-organized as Rescue Co. 1 at Fire Headquarters (Station 1). Thus, Rescue 1 was back in service as a front line company 24 years after it was decommissioned on January 1, 1976. In 2004, Engine Co. 311 was deactivated from service at Station 11 and Squad Co. 11 was subsequently commissioned and placed into service at Station 11 (along with the YFD Collapse Unit). Squad Co. 11 operates as an engine company for its first due area, Cedar Knolls.
The valley above the flood plain is a series of knolls below the plateau. Further down the valley, the river receives Pine Creek which has also entered the valley from a deep gorge, Pine Creek Gorge (also known as the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania). East of Williamsport, the Bald Eagle ridge ends, the river turns south, and the valley opens up and follows the river to the water gap at Lewisburg. In Clinton and Lycoming Counties, it is northeast of the Bald Eagle Valley and runs from Lock Haven to Williamsport.
These included streams, bridges, knolls, sloping lawns (French: pelouse) and several small pavilions and gazebos in different styles. In Piper's 1797 land use plan, one extension to the north was to contain a cave with canals and cascades, a small lake with bridges and walking paths, and a Turkish pavilion. Apart from Green Crag, other notable high points on the fell include: Crook Crag (469m, ); White How (444m, ); Great Worm Crag (427m, ); Kepple Crag (328m,); Great Crag (323m, ); Rough Crag (319m, ); Water Crag (305m, ); and Brantrake Crags (259m, ). Between these points are a plethora of smaller crags and knolls, separated by shallow valleys and bogs, giving the high fell an uneven and chaotic appearance. Water plays an important role in defining the character of Birker Fell. Between the crags flow many small streams, known as becks or gills in the local terminology.
The Valley Mountains are a north-south trending range, narrowing at its north and south ends. The range is about 9-mi at its widest, with two ridgelines, from the center northwards, on the east and west; from the center to the south, the ridgelines merge into a small mountain region. The southwest contains Dairy Knoll, , and Three Knolls, , both on the east perimeter of Round Valley, south of Scipio Lake. Scipio Lake lies at the north of Round Valley as the Valley Mountains meet the northeast terminus and foothills of the Pavant Range.
A Quaker school named Friends Meeting School (FMS) moved to the area in 1997, sharing space with Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, also located in Ijamsville. FMS was originally established for preschool through 6th grade, but expanded until it reached its current size in 2013, serving pre-K through 12th grade. As the school expanded, it purchased and moved onto land near Windsor Knolls Middle school. The Christian Life Center, a United Pentecostal organization from Rockville, MD, purchased land near FMS in early 2012 and began holding services in Damascus High School.
The Yankees needed good legal representation then and attorney Tony Caputo (Pondfield Road West) provided the team with it for many years. In 2004, the triangular park at the confluence of Pondfield Road West and Dellwood Road was officially renamed Darcy Plaza, in memory of Dwight Darcy, a resident who died on September 11, 2001, in the attack on the World Trade Center. In 2005, Cedar Knolls was awarded a state grant for neighborhood beautification. The funds were used to design and purchase period street signs and portal signs.
The soils of Cedar Knolls are composed of the products of decay and erosion of the original igneous and sedimentary rocks. This debris of disintegration was added to residual soils and clays, constituting a soil combination of many ingredients favorable to the growth of plant life. In general, the soil is acidic and requires at intervals the addition of lime and magnesium for bountiful plant growth. The quality of the soil plus the elevation and excellent drainage of the area create a favorable condition for an abundance of plants and trees.
A standard size Period House in Cedar Knolls customarily has a living room, dining room, and kitchen on the ground floor, with a modest entry hall. A large Period House in the district incorporates a more formal entry space, a second porch, a library or den, and additional bedrooms and baths. The Period House celebrated the arrival of the automobile and the informal freedom for American society that it ushered in. Period Houses in the district constructed pre-1920 are characterized by a detached garage, often a mini-version of the house.
This design, designated as S4G, was used for the two reactors on the USS Triton (SSRN-586); no other ships used this reactor plant. The plant had unique design features such as horizontal steam generator U-tubes, and it was one of the only submarine plants with a deaereating feed tank (DFT). A prototype reactor was built ashore at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory's Kesselring Site in West Milton, New York in 1958 to test the reactor design. Once the design was proven, the prototype continued operation to train students and test new systems and materials.
The north-east ridge to Beda Fell is also well defined, a fair path traversing a series of rocky knolls before the final rise to the summit, named Beda Head. Southward from Angletarn Pikes is Angle Tarn itself. This indented waterbody is about a quarter of a mile long with an island in the middle and forms a picturesque foreground for views of the Pikes. The tarn sits in a hollow on the centre of the ridge, issuing westwards through a break in the parapet via the ravine of Angletarn Beck.
By 1980, WDHA had evolved into a full time album rock station, competing with WPLJ and WNEW-FM, New York's two rock stations. In 1984, WDHA was the world's first radio station to play compact discs, a new invention that would replace vinyl records. By the late 1980s, more heavy metal bands were heard while the station still kept a balance between classic rock and new rock. In 1990, WDHA moved out of its Randolph facilities and into new Cedar Knolls studios, along with sister station 1250 WMTR.
The Rolling Knolls Landfill is a landfill located in the Green Village section of Chatham Township in New Jersey. It is bordered on two sides by the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, and was formerly known as Miele's Dump, after owner Robert Miele. The Landfill is notable for being identified by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Superfund site. It was operated as a municipal landfill from the early 1930s until December 1968, during which time it handled municipal solid waste, as well as construction and demolition debris from neighboring communities.
The top of Glenridding Dodd is a short ridge, with patches of heather, rocky knolls and marshy hollows. The highest point, at the western end, is marked by a small cairn, but better views of Glenridding and almost the whole of Ullswater may be had from the eastern end of the ridge where the ground falls steeply away, just above the 400 m contour. For a low fell the view is "delightful." Beyond Glenridding are the claw-shaped end of Birkhouse Moor, and Keldas, its subsidiary top closer to the lake.
The area also has a small Asian & Hispanic population that is more similar to Mid-Island neighborhoods than other South Shore neighborhoods. About a mile north of the "Greens" is the Aspen Knolls development, located off Arthur Kill Road, next to the St. John Neumann Church. Plans for this development began in the early 1990s and were originally meant for housing of Navy families. However, due to Base Realignment and Closure, the housing contract was terminated in November 1994 after the closure of the Staten Island Homeport in Stapleton.
Picton's skirmishers quickly drove back the French outposts. When the leading brigades came under accurate artillery fire from the Escorial and Lafaurie knolls, Picton held back his formed troops and reinforced his skirmish line to seven British light companies, three 5th/60th Foot rifle companies and the entire 11th Caçadores Battalion. This heavy skirmish line moved forward until it came into contact with Soult's main defense line, but it was unable to press any farther. On January 3, 2014, Kesha checked into Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center, a rehab facility in Lemont, Illinois, for eating disorder treatment. Kesha's mother Pebe Sebert confirmed that Kesha was suffering from the eating disorder bulimia nervosa and that she was struggling with it since she was signed. She also alleged that Dr. Luke was partly the cause of Kesha's eating disorder, saying that Luke had allegedly told her to lose weight after he signed her, comparing the shape of her body to a refrigerator. Sebert asserted that this caused Kesha's disorder to worsen.
The landscape of this plain combines knolls crowned by forts with agricultural plains and grasslands, important lagoons like the ones in Cospeito or Caque and over a hundred rivers and streams that run through the region. Its average height is 400 meters. Two mountain ranges named Serra da Cova da Serpe and Serra da Loba (700–800 meters) set the limits with the province of A Coruña, while in the north, the mountains of A Carba, Xistral and Toxiza interpose marinas, while reaching the highest altitudes in the county up to 1,000 m.

In traditional Hebridean folklore, the Sithchean (or fairies) are a morally ambiguous supernatural race of small humanoid creatures that inhabit knolls and places of special significance across the Hebrides. Evidence of the Sithche are found throughout the Hebrides interwoven within its landscape, stories, music and traditional healing beliefs of the native Hebridean people. The Sithchean are thought to be the distorted folk memory of the Iron Age Pictish peoples who inhabited the Hebrides before they amalgamated into the Gaelic and Viking societies that became dominant after their end.
The Hardaway Site is located on a rocky ridge overlooking Badin Lake, occupying two knolls and the intervening saddle at the ridge's northern end. The site is stratified into four layers of cultural material, found above an otherwise sterile layer of clay. Each of these layers contains extensive evidence of human habitation and use, including stone-lined hearths, and large volumes of stone tool creation byproducts (debitage). The uppermost layer of material has been disturbed by historic activities, including occupation by Native Americans in the colonial period, and plowing for agriculture.

Maplewood is on Portland's western border with Garden Home and on Multnomah County's western border with Washington County. The British left was covered by another group of Indian troops, facing directly southward from atop the aptly named 'Punjab Ridge.' The gap itself was manned by the more numerous Rhodesian line infantry. They sat upon a line of rocky knolls, named from north to south Black, Knobbly, Mill, Observation, and Castle Hills, positioned in a ragged diagonal echelon with 2,000–2,500 yard gaps between them across the mouth of the gap. The southeast of the range merges north into mountains/hills that extend into Rush Valley, forming a small valley west, against the Sheeprock northeast flank. The mountainous area is from both the south Sheeprocks and the north of the West Tintic Mountains. Red Skin Knolls, , of the Sheeprocks lies between, at the south of Rush Valley. At the Sheeprock Mountains northwest terminus, a narrow stretch of hills/ or mountains extend due-north to connect to the south of the Onaqui's; Lookout Pass separates Little Mountain, (a standalone mountain peak, at ), from Red Pine Mountain in the north terminus region of the Sheeprocks, (at ).
Mitchell Glacier is a glacier which descends steeply from Chaplains Tableland in the northeast of the Royal Society Range, Victoria Land, Antarctica, flowing east-northeast between Transit Ridge and Ibarra Peak to join the Blue Glacier drainage south of the Granite Knolls. It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names in 1992 after J. Murray Mitchell, a climatologist with the U.S. Weather Bureau and successor agencies from 1955 to 1986. From 1974 onwards he played a significant part in the Polar Research Board of the National Academy of Sciences, and the Division of Polar Programs of the National Science Foundation.
On May 15, 1946, KAPL began with a contract between General Electric and the U.S. Government to conduct nuclear research and development, including the generation of electricity from nuclear energy. In 1950, the nuclear power plant project was converted to a Naval Nuclear Propulsion project. Several years later Knolls' work joined that of Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, the Argonne National Laboratory, and others in developing the world's first nuclear-powered submarine, the USS Nautilus on January 21, 1954. In 1952 and 1953, Jimmy Carter, who would later become a US president, worked at KAPL as an engineer.
Lake Pippen, located in the eastern part of the township Franklin Township is located in west-central Portage County in Northeast Ohio approximately northeast of Akron and southeast of Cleveland.Grismer, p. 202 It is bordered by Kent on the south and west, Brimfield Township on the south, Stow on the west, Streetsboro and Sugar Bush Knolls to the north, Ravenna Township on the east, and the township completely surrounds the village of Brady Lake. Franklin Township also touches the city of Hudson on the northwest corner, Shalersville Township on the northeast corner, and Rootstown Township on the southeast corner.
While the Iwasa Unit arrived at its attack position on 8 March, its assault on the American perimeter was delayed until the next day. Hill 700, in the 37th Division's sector, was held by the 2nd and 3rd Battalions of the U.S. Army's 145th Infantry Regiment. Very steep, with a deep saddle between two knolls, Hill 700 proved difficult to both defend and to attack. For several days prior to the attack there had been clashes between U.S. and Japanese patrols in the front of the position, and Japanese patrols had been engaged in wire cutting around the perimeter.
Lava flow near Duck Creek The appearance and weathering characteristics of many volcanic structures imply that they have a recent age. Argon-argon dating has yielded an imprecise date of 58,000 ± 35,000 years ago for the Henrie Knolls lava flows. On the Miller Knoll flows, surface exposure dating has yielded ages of 38,000 - 36,000 years ago for the middle member and of 34,000 ± 4,000 and 32,000 ± 3,000 for two other flows which are likely of the same age. The middle member is overlaid by the Dry Valley flow which is also younger than the other two flows.
The strike lasted two days. On April 19, 1982, due to another financial crisis within the City of Yonkers, Engine Co.'s 302, 305, and 311, as well as Ladder Co. 76 were all decommissioned and removed from front line service (Engine 305 and Ladder 76 would never be returned to front line service). Due to these changes, Ladder Co. 70 was moved from Station 14 to Station 11 to provide coverage in the Cedar Knolls section of the city. In June 1983, Engine Co. 302 and Engine Co. 311 were recommissioned, with Engine 302 quartered at Station 1/Fire Headquarters.
Red beryl Red beryl (formerly known as "bixbite" and marketed as "red emerald" or "scarlet emerald" but note that both latter terms involving "Emerald" terminology are now prohibited in the United States under Federal Trade Commission Regulations) is a red variety of beryl. It was first described in 1904 for an occurrence, its type locality, at Maynard's Claim (Pismire Knolls), Thomas Range, Juab County, Utah. The old synonym "bixbite" is deprecated from the CIBJO, because of the risk of confusion with the mineral bixbyite (both were named after the mineralogist Maynard Bixby). The dark red color is attributed to Mn3+ ions.
Soon after the surrender of the New Amsterdam colony to the British in 1664, Frederick Philipse was issued a royal grant to the Van der Donck land. On his estate, Philipse built a large manse (restored as Philipse Manor Hall) and attracted settlers to develop the town along the banks of the Hudson River. During the sixteen and seventeen hundreds, Yonkers flourished and became a significant coastal city supported by farming, light manufacturing, and river-based trading. In 1760, pioneer settler Eleaser Hart bought 154 acres of farmland which included a small house erected in 1725 and named it the Cedar Knolls Farm.
In the spring of 1918, six of the first homeowners met to form the second-oldest homeowners’ association in the City of Yonkers and officially named their association The Cedar Knolls Colony. The original six were William Riggs, Gardner Taylor, Thomas Massey, A. Carlyle Porteus, A. H. Babcock, and Wentworth Hicks, at whose house on Pondfield Road West they first met to form the association. There they elected William Riggs the first president and wrote the first bylaws. The association was initially open only to male residents, with membership by invitation only; therefore, not all homeowners were members.
Cedar Knolls was planned and primarily developed during the era of the American Period House, 1910 to 1930. It initiated the modern concepts of an open interior plan and a close relationship between house and private recreational garden, clad in a variety of revival architectural styles. The plan of the Period House reflected a change in lifestyle for the middle class American, coinciding with a move away from a household staff. Rooms in a Period House are generally rectangular in plan and are larger than those of typical Victorian-era houses, although there are fewer of them.
The final segment of NC 197 that follows the Toe River does so in the reverse direction as the previous two times this occurred. This segment comes after a railroad crossing and a new concrete arch bridge that carries the highway across the Toe River into Yancey County. After leaving the river area, NC 197 continues through mountains and grassy knolls until it arrives at U.S. Route 19E (US 19E) just east of Burnsville. Following a short overlap with US 19E, NC 197 leaves US 19E in Burnsville as Pensacola Road and goes through the Cane River valley to Pensacola.

It is sometimes an understory tree in pine stands on sandy knolls in the southeastern US. Along the coastal plain of New Jersey the probability of finding this species is increased in relatively sunny, open areas such as those near coastal salt marshes. This nuclear reactor utilizes natural circulation which is capable of operating at a significant fraction of full power without reactor coolant pumps. A land-based prototype of the reactor plant was built at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory's Kesselring Site in West Milton, NY. The prototype was used for testing and crew training throughout the 1980s. In 1994, the core was replaced with an S6W reactor, designed for the then-new Seawolf-class submarine. The prototype is equipped with an automatic reactor fill system that can flood the reactor with borated water in the event of a loss-of-coolant accident.

Cotton grass at Knockan Crag The plantlife of the area is highly influenced by its underlying geology. The soils formed on areas of limestone, fucoid beds and salterella grits are much richer than those on Moine schists. The lime-rich areas consequently support a richer vegetation, including plants such as mountain avens and rock sedge, whilst areas underlain by Moine schists tend to consist of wet heath and blanket bog. The transition between the two vegetation patterns is especially marked on the plateau above the crags, where there are small limestone knolls separated by peat-filled areas.
Due to the cholera epidemic of 1831 and the subsequent overcrowding of churchyards, it was decided to build new cemeteries in Sunderland after the passing of the Burial Act 1852 and 1853. The chosen for Bishopwearmouth Cemetery lay on the edge of the county and parliamentary boundary of Sunderland and was glebe land, owned by the Parish of Bishopwearmouth. The land was sold by the parish for £275 (£17,839.73 in 2007) per acre and the cemetery cost £2000 (£129,743.47 in 2007) to build. It opened in July 1856, on the same day as another new cemetery, Mere Knolls Cemetery, situated in Fulwell.
The stadium has 100 chairback seats that are part of the VIP club, named the Baumholtz club in honor of former Ohio baseball player Frank Baumholtz. Seawolf was the same basic "double hull" twin-screw submarine design as her predecessor , but her propulsion system was more technologically advanced. Steeper banks and knolls in the grassland have a flora which includes orchids, Somerset Hair Grass (Koeleria vallesiana), and Honewort (Trinia glauca), and the Goldilocks Aster (Galatella linosyris) along with several species of butterfly and Weevil (Curculionoidea). The hill and Walborough common, which are adjacent to each other, are local nature reserves making a total area of . There are a range of flowers including cowslip, primrose and green-winged orchid. The Salt marsh has sea barley, slender hare's-ear and sea clover and limestone grassland with Somerset hair-grass, honewort, green-winged and early purple orchids.
The Fort Worth Water Gardens Fort Worth has a total of 263 parks with 179 of those being neighborhood parks. The total acres of park land is 11,700.72 acres with the average being about 12.13 acres per park. The 4.3 acre (1.7 hectare) Fort Worth Water Gardens, designed by noted New York architects Philip Johnson and John Burgee, is an urban park containing three pools of water and terraced knolls; the Water Gardens are billed as a "cooling oasis in the concrete jungle" of downtown. Heritage Park Plaza is a Modernist- style park that was designed by Lawrence Halprin.

The steep slopes of Totterhoe Chalk Quarry Totternhoe nature reserve is managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire (WTBCN). The 31 hectare site is in Totternhoe in Bedfordshire, and it includes parts of three Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs). Totternhoe Knolls is a biological SSSI owned by Central Bedfordshire Council and leased to the National Trust. Most of it is managed jointly by the National Trust and the WTBCN, excluding Totternhoe Castle, the earthworks of a Norman motte-and-bailey castle which is part of the SSSI but not of WTBCN's nature reserve.
Sir Francis Drake Boulevard is an east-west arterial road in Marin County, California, running from the trailhead for Point Reyes Lighthouse at the end of the Point Reyes Peninsula to Interstate 580 just west of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. The majority of the strewn field (the debris field where the bulk of the fragments fell) is located in the eastern part of the present day town of Easton - in and around the Easton Reservoir. The remaining part of the debris field extended into the western part of neighboring Trumbull. Several fragments of this meteorite were collected in the Tashua section of Trumbull, in and around what is now Sturbridge Lane and Tashua Knolls. Currently none of the area where the debris field was located on is in the town of Weston, but in primarily located in neighboring Easton.
The origin of the Tuzo Wilson Seamounts is not without controversy. Some geologists theorize that the Tuzo Wilson Seamounts are linked with a hotspot because lava at the Tuzo Wilson Seamounts are fresh, glassy pillow basalts of recent age, as expected if these seamounts are located above or close to a hotspot south of the Haida Gwaii archipelago.J. The Wendover Cut-off, also called the Wendover Road or Wendover Route, is a two-lane highway in the western part of Tooele County in the U.S. state of Utah. Stretching from Wendover to Knolls across the Bonneville Salt Flats, a part of the Great Salt Lake Desert, the cut-off was once part of the primary link between the Nevada state line and Salt Lake City. In 2012, between 240 and 250 vehicles used the cut-off near its western terminus in Wendover on an average day. The first roadway across the Great Salt Lake Desert was completed in 1917 as a single-lane highway.
After Sebert and Kesha claimed that they didn't know who Kesha's father was, Bob Chamberlain approached Star in 2011 with pictures and letters, claiming them as proof that he and Kesha had been in regular contact as father and daughter before she turned 19. It was declared a National Natural Landmark in October 1971 The preserve includes two rocky knolls for which the property is named (the Cobbles), as well as floodplain along the Konkapot and Housatonic Rivers, working hayfields and pastures, meadows, and Hurlburt's Hill, an open hilltop with a panoramic view of The Berkshires, the Taconic Mountains, and the Housatonic River Valley. The property has been owned and managed by the non-profit conservation organization The Trustees of Reservations since 1946. Hiking trails and an interpretive center and museum are located on the preserve. Rangers and staff lead guided canoe trips on the Housatonic River in season.
After crossing Utah's western border in Wendover, I-80 crosses the desolate Bonneville Salt Flats west of the Great Salt Lake. The longest stretch between exits on an Interstate Highway is located between Wendover and Knolls, with between those exits. This portion of I-80, crossing the Great Salt Lake Desert, is extremely flat and straight, dotted with large warning signs about driver fatigue and drowsiness. East of the salt flats, I-80 passes the southern edge of Great Salt Lake and continues on through Salt Lake City, where it merges with I-15 for before entering the Wasatch Mountains east of the city.
GNS scientists considered this an "extremely rare seismic recording made near a fault rupture". The February 2011 Christchurch earthquake experienced PGA of 2.2 g. GNS seismologists and geophysicists, who believed the 7.1 Mw quake consisted of three or four separate quakes, quickly proposed at least two models for the quake. John Beavan proposed a four-fault model consisting of a 6.5 Mw quake on the Charing Cross fault, followed by a 7.0 Mw quake on the Greendale Fault, and a 6.2 Mw quake near Hororata, with a 6.5 Mw quake on the fourth fault, which could run between West Melton, Sandy Knolls and Burnham.
Deodar trees Los Feliz encompasses several smaller but distinct areas, including the Los Feliz Hills and Los Feliz Estates (north of Los Feliz Boulevard), Laughlin Park, Los Feliz Village, Los Feliz Square, Los Feliz Knolls, and Franklin Hills. According to the Mapping L.A. project of the Los Angeles Times, Los Feliz is part of Central Los Angeles. It is flanked on the north by Griffith Park, on the northeast by Atwater Village, on the southeast by Silver Lake, on the south by East Hollywood, and on the northwest by Hollywood and Hollywood Hills. Los Feliz is situated near the 101 and the 5 freeways in Hollywood and Atwater Village respectively.
Autumn in Derwood Derwood is an unincorporated area and census-designated place in east-central Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. It lies just north of Rockville, southeast of Gaithersburg, southwest of Olney, and northwest of the greater Silver Spring area. Derwood, originally "Deer Park", then "Deer Wood," is home to approximately 15,600 people. Derwood includes the neighborhoods of Derwood Heights, Derwood Station, Mill Creek Towne, Needwood Estates, Muncaster Manor, Muncaster View, Hollybrooke, Granby Woods, Park Overlook, Redland Crossing, Candlewood Park, Cashell Estates, Avery Forest, Avery Lodge, Avery Village, Bowie Mill Estates, Bowie Mill Park, Winters Run, Redland Station, Rolling Knolls, Emory Grove, and Shady Grove Crossing.
These features are often referred to as seamounts where a seamount is described as any geographic isolated topographic feature on the seafloor taller than , including ones whose summit regions may temporarily emerge above sea level, but not including features that are located on continental shelves or that are part of other major landmasses. The seamounts are the site of volcanism from the late Cenozoic era. The knolls are high, stand deep at their base and at their summit. Many of the seamounts bear marks of tidal scour from water erosion, the result of millions of years of wear by a current moving at per second.
The state highway then splits from US 52, and heads east into a predominantly forested setting, with the occasional house appearing along the side of the roadway. SR 743 curves its way around, but in a generally easterly trend, through its intersection with Fruit Ridge Road. The highway then starts to bend into a more northeastly direction, as it meets Brown Road and then passes underneath the Haul Road for the nearby William H. Zimmer Power Station. Some open grassy knolls start to line the sides of SR 743 amidst the forested terrain as the highway makes its way up to its junction with SR 756\.

In 1982, the Saint Michael's orphanage, situated off Arthur Kill Road, closed, with some land on which it stood being sold to developers (who have since built the Aspen Knolls development) and the remainder set aside for use as a church, named for the recently canonized St. John Neumann. The church also maintains a convent for the Presentation Sisters on the east side of the property; in 2005 a section of this land was sold off, with new home construction to follow here too — still another sign of the continuing housing boom on Staten Island, which has gone on virtually uninterrupted since the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge opened in 1964.
The first test run of the railcar was to Sandy Knolls, from Addington, and subsequent trials meant the railcar covered a distance of more than . The railcar successfully operated at a speed of , with its top attained speed approximately , but problems and faults became manifest over the trial period. The most notable problem was that the engine tended to overheat, and this combined with other flaws meant that the project became uneconomic and was abandoned before A 88 entered regular passenger service. The railcar parts were removed and sold and A 88 was returned to regular locomotive-hauled service in passenger trains after being re-converted into an un-motorised carriage.
Birchgrove Woolwich Cockatoo Island from the Gladesville Bridge Cockatoo Island is a UNESCO World Heritage Site at the junction of the Parramatta and Lane Cove River in Sydney Harbour, New South Wales, Australia. Cockatoo Island is the largest of several islands that were originally heavily timbered sandstone knolls. Originally the Island rose to above sea level and was but it has been extended to and is now cleared of most vegetation. Called Wa-rea-mah by the Indigenous Australians who traditionally inhabited the land prior to European settlement, the island may have been used as a fishing base, although physical evidence of Aboriginal heritage has not been found on the island.

Also, throughout Springfield, I-91 was constructed as an elevated highway, which blocked all riverfront views in downtown. Beneath the elevated highway, the City of Springfield's largest parking garage was constructed at 1756 spaces, as were a series of stone walls and grassy knolls, which have made the riverfront difficult to access by foot. The highway construction sliced through three of Springfield's most (theretofore) most desirable neighborhoods and many historical landmarks – among them, Court Square, Forest Park, and the Everett Hosmer Barney Mansion. In addition, the loss of Springfield's riverfront and the ugliness of the elevated Interstate 91 contributed to white flight from the city to its suburbs.
Larva 2–2.5 mm, white with a creamy hue, curved, dark brown head, on the upper jaws on each side of three growths, the middle of them increased; instead of legs six pairs of small knolls. Pupa 3–3.5 mm, yellowish white. Winter bugs on crops and in natural clover plants in the soil, at a depth of up to 5 cm, in forest belts, fringes, ravines, on the borders, roadsides - under fallen leaves and plant remains. Beetles from wintering places come out in 1-2 decades of April during the period of clover growth and feed on the parenchyma of young leaves during 15–21 days, gnawing out small holes.
In February 1951, Westchester County started getting ready to approve the new parkway plans from the State of New York. The new $16-18 million (1950 USD) parkway still had a short section still in question, with various groups preferring two different alignments. The State Council of Parks wanted to use the alignment used by the Odell Parkway, which still would require demolition of thirty homes in the Cedar Knolls section of Yonkers, while other groups wanted the parkway to be aligned through Crestwood, which would cost 100 homes. Five different sites were proposed at the meeting with the Westchester County Board of Supervisors on February 15.
Beechmont (also known as Beechmont Knolls and Beechmont Woods) is an upscale residential community located in the northern end of New Rochelle in Westchester County, New York. Its boundaries are the town of Mamaroneck on the east, by Rochelle Heights on the south, by Huguenot Park on the west and by Forest Heights and Bayberry on the north. Beechmont is within the larger Wykagyl sub-section of New Rochelle, served by the 10804 zip-code. The United States Board on Geographic Names recognizes Beechmont as the official common name for the neighborhood, which it defines as a populated place existing within the incorporated City of New Rochelle.
Stanbridgeford railway station on the London and North Western Railway's branch line to Dunstable served the Bedfordshire villages of Stanbridge, Totternhoe, Eaton Bray and Tilsworth from 1849 to 1964. Once popular with visitors to the nearby Totternhoe Knolls and ramblers, the station closed against a background of falling passenger numbers and declining freight returns. The station building has survived into private ownership, but a section of the alignment to the east and west of the site has been taken into the A505 Leighton Southern Bypass. National Cycle Network route 6 runs to the east over the bypass as far as the outskirts of Dunstable.
The Order of the Arrow is served by Woapalanne Lodge. In 1999, the Boy Scouts of America oversaw a number of council mergers. In 2000, the Morris-Sussex Area Council (based in Denville, NJ) and the Watchung Area Council (based in Mountainside, N.J.) underwent such a merger, forming the Patriots’ Path Council – now based out of Cedar Knolls, N.J. As there can only be one lodge for every council, there were merger meetings between the two lodges (Allemakewink #54 and Miquin #68). Since it was a NOAC year, and Allemakewink was both celebrating its 70th anniversary and hosting a Section Conclave, it did not want to merge immediately.
At the conclusion of the session, the No. 80 Larbre Porsche led in LMGT from the No. 70 Aspen Knolls MCR Callaway C12-R and the No. 72 Team Taisan Advan car. The day's fastest laps were predicted to possibly be set within the opening fifteen minutes of the second session due to lowering ambient temperatures and light levels. Kristensen improved provisional pole position to a 3 minutes, 32.458 seconds lap seven minutes into the session to be four seconds faster than Allan McNish's 2000 pole lap. He was unable to improve any further because of an electrical misfire that affected the No. 1 Audi.
Kevin McGarrity elevated the sister No. 33 MG to second in class and ROC Auto fell to third. In LMGTS, Oliver Gavin's No. 60 Saleen led the session and took the provisional class pole position from Corvette Racing. Fellows crashed into a tyre barrier at the second Mulsanne Chicane and the No. 63 Corvette sustained heavy rear-end damage. He was unhurt. The sole non-Porsche car in LMGT of the Aspen Knolls MCR-entered Callaway C12 of Cort Wagner moved to the front in class with Patrice Goueslard's No. 80 Larbre car second. Conditions were overcast for the third practice session on 14 June and some rain fell intermittently.
However, running soup kitchens and medical clinics was not the authentic, long-term concern of the Diggers' founders. After passing those institutions on to a local church and David Smith to continue, the Diggers moved out of the City, creating various land bases in California, including Forest Knolls, Olema, Covelo, Salmon River, Trinidad, and Black Bear Ranch. There they integrated with other groups: The Free Bakery, the Up Against the Wall Motherfuckers, and the Gypsy Truckers, creating The Free Family. That larger group still exists informally, and many of the Diggers' children and grandchildren remain in contact with one another, and many are still involved with progressive causes.
The forest provides habitat for a number of bird species, including great horned owls and various woodpeckers. Over thirty species were recorded in a single morning of bird watching. The city-owned portion of Mount Sutro and the eucalyptus forest, called the Interior Green Belt, is contiguous with the UCSF-owned Mount Sutro Open Space Reserve portion. The forest is bounded on the north by the UCSF Medical Center and the UCSF Stem-cell Research Building; on the west by the Sunset District; on the south by the Forest Knolls neighborhood, built in the late 1950s on cleared forest land; and on the east by the Cole Valley neighborhood.
The Kent City School District is a public school district based in Kent, Ohio, United States. It serves approximately 3,400 students living in Kent, Franklin Township, Brady Lake, and Sugar Bush Knolls, as well as a small portion of southern Streetsboro. The district has seven schools including four elementary schools housing kindergarten through fifth grade with preschool housed at one elementary school; Stanton Middle School for grades 6–8; and Theodore Roosevelt High School, which houses grades 9–12. The superintendent is George Joseph, who began his tenure in July 2014 after working as Executive Director of Administrative Services for the Worthington City School District in Worthington, Ohio.
Further into the countryside are the open-range Whipsnade Zoo, a garden laid out in the form of a cathedral at Whipsnade Tree Cathedral and the Totternhoe Knolls motte-and-bailey castle. The Icknield Way Path passes through the town on its 110-mile journey from Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire to Knettishall Heath in Suffolk. The Icknield Way Trail, a multi-user route for walkers, horse riders and off-road cyclists also passes through the town. The route of these now leisure routes now go to the west and north of the main conurbation rather than following the road which still bears its name.
Ideal for defence, it was held by well-entrenched Chinese troops supported by artillery and mortars. While British forces attacked further west, men from A Company 3RAR attempted an advance along a spur south-east of the summit. The attack acted as a feint by drawing Chinese defenders away from the main ridgeline, up which B and D Companies then advanced. After a series of assaults, D Company managed to capture four knolls leading up the ridgeline before C Company took over the attack and captured a feature known as Baldy, before moving on quickly to occupy the summit, which had been abandoned by the Chinese.
From the northwest to the southeast, the height of the mostly wooded knolls generally increases: the Gubrist (), the Hönggerberg (), the Käferberg (), the Zürichberg (), the Adlisberg () and the Öschbrig (). Between the Käferberg and the Zürichberg is located the saddle of the Milchbuck (about ), an important passage from the Limmat valley to the Glatt valley. The northernmost part of the municipality extends to the plain of the Glatt valley and to the saddle which makes the connection between the Glattal and Furttal. Also, a part of the Katzensee (nature reserve) and the Büsisee, both of which are drained by the Katzenbach to Glatt, belong to the city.
Woese turned his attention to the genetic code while setting up his lab at General Electric's Knolls Laboratory in the fall of 1960. Interest among physicists and molecular biologists had begun to coalesce around deciphering the correspondence between the twenty amino acids and the four letter alphabet of nucleic acid bases in the decade following James D. Watson, Francis Crick, and Rosalind Franklin's discovery of the structure of DNA in 1953. Woese published a series of papers on the topic. In one, he deduced a correspondence table between what was then known as "soluble RNA" and DNA based upon their respective base pair ratios.
A social reformer, Nolen believed that parks were critical to the health of urban residents and should be designed to provide a place of respite and relaxation in nature. In his original design plan, Nolen wrote that this park should be > "...a sequestered breathing place in the heart of East Walpole...a > combination of broad, sun-swept meadow lands, speckled with shadowed glades, > higher tree-screened knolls for the lover of shade, the whole set to the > music of a babbling stream." For most of its history, the park was owned and maintained by the Francis William Park Trust. By the later decades of the 20th century, parts of the park suffered badly from vandalism and neglect.
The grounds were originally slated to be a correctional facility, Wingdale Prison, but complaints by the local population caused a re- purposing of the buildings (under construction) into a state hospital. It is located on NY 22/55 opposite the Harlem Valley-Wingdale station on the Metro- North Harlem Line. The hospital was closed in 1994 due to budget cuts and was sold to a Long Island based housing developer, The Benjamin Companies. However, The Benjamin Companies gave up on its plans to pursue the Dover Knolls project - comprising development of a golf-course housing community surrounded by commercial, office, and retail development - when the Great Recession hit and just before the housing market collapsed.
More specific named divisions tend to be upscale residential areas. These include Bel Air, which is the area north of 4th Avenue NW and west of 16th Street NW and includes Bel-Air Elementary School, Eastwood Park, which is southwest of Roosevelt Park and north of Burdick Expressway along 7th and 8th Streets SE, Terracita Vallejo which is actually outside of the city, west of the US 83 bypass but north of US 2/52, and Green Acres, which is off 16th St. SW near Dakota Square mall and other area shopping with a neighborhood park. Southwest Knolls is one of the more established wealthy neighborhoods of Minot, specifically 8th, 9th, and 10th Streets South, along South Hill.
Elmwood Cemetery was established as part of the Rural Cemetery Movement of the early-to-mid-19th century. A classic example of a garden cemetery, it is notable for its park-like setting, sweeping vistas, shady knolls, large stands of ancient trees, and magnificent monuments. On 28 August 1852, fifty prominent Memphis citizens each contributed $500 for stock certificates in order to purchase of land for the cemetery; they envisioned that this land would be a park for the living as well as the dead, where family outings, picnics, and social gatherings could occur. It was meant to be a place where beautiful gardens were tended and individual monuments celebrated both life and death.
Olpe is found in a broad stretch of hilly country. In the town's north, the slopes are steeper and the dales narrower (for instance near the centres of Rhode and Neger); in the south, the hills have soft knolls and the dales are more spacious. There are also no plateaux there. The area around the Biggesee and the main town of Olpe, as the Bundesamt für Bauwesen und Raumordnung (“Federal Office for Construction and Regional Planning”) sees them, are included in the Mittelbiggebergland (“Middle Bigge Mountain Land”), while the eastern and southern portions of the municipal area are designated Südsauerländer Rothaarvorhöhen (“South Sauerland Rothaar Foothills”). The municipal area is an integral part of the Rheinisches Schiefergebirge (“Rhenish Slate Mountains”).
The school's most successful teams include football, golf, wrestling, soccer, swimming, diving, tennis, softball, cheerleading and cross- country. Sir Francis Drake high school was founded in 1951 in San Anselmo, California, providing schooling for students from Fairfax, Forest Knolls, Lagunitas, San Geronimo, Woodacre, San Anselmo, and Nicasio grades 9–12. This was the second high school to be introduced into the Tamalpais Union High School District, the first being Tamalpais High School. Until 1958, Sir Francis Drake High School served other towns of Marin that are now served by Redwood High School, including Corte Madera, Ross, Larkspur, Greenbrae, and Kentfield. Between 1992 and 1995, Drake High School started a new program of small learning communities due to the poor performance of students, which was affecting the perception of the school.
The station did not however appear in public timetables until October 1860, at which time two facing platforms made of old stone sleepers were provided. The opening of the station to goods traffic followed on 3 October 1860. The nearest settlement to the station was Stanbridge (then known as Stanbridgeford), although it was within reach of the villages of Totternhoe, Eaton Bray and Tilsworth. It became popular with visitors to the nearby Totternhoe Knolls, especially with Leighton Buzzard residents who took in great numbers to the countryside, so much so that in 1919 when 700 people arrived to take the train back from Stanbridgeford, the stationmaster had to call for extra coaches from Leighton Buzzard.
Within the greater city borders are many established neighborhoods and subsections, several of which are larger in both size and population than neighboring villages of Larchmont, Bronxville and Pelham Manor. The public community areas most noted include: Bayberry, Beechmont, Bloomingdale Estates, Bonnie Crest, Daisy Farms, Davenport Neck, Echo Manor, Forest Heights, Forest Knolls, French Ridge, Glen Island, Glenwood Lake, Lake Isle, Larchmont Woods, Northfield, Paine Heights, Pinebrook, Premium Point Park, Quaker Ridge, Residence Park, Rochelle Heights, San Souci, Scarsdale Downs, Shore Road, Sutton Manor, Vaneck Estates, Ward Acres, Wilmot Woods and Wykagyl. Brookridge, Riviera Shores, Premium Point, Pinebrook Hollow, Kensington Woods, and Cherry Lawn are gated neighborhoods accessible only by those immediate residents.
Theodore Roosevelt High School (RHS or TRHS), often referred to as Kent Roosevelt (KRHS), is a public high school in Kent, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in Kent and the Kent City School District and serves students in grades 9–12 living in Kent, Franklin Township, Brady Lake, and Sugar Bush Knolls as well as a small portion of southern Streetsboro. As of the 2018–19 academic year, enrollment was 1,308 students with 80 teachers for a student–teacher ratio of 16:1. Recognition for academic performance over the years has come from the United States Department of Education, Ohio Department of Education, and U.S. News & World Report.
Location of the school (in red) and the Central School Annex (in pink) within the Kent City School District The Roosevelt student body comes from an area that includes most of the city of Kent, most of Franklin Township, and all of the village of Sugar Bush Knolls. A very small portion of Streetsboro is also included. The student body can also include those from outside the district through open enrollment, which is open to students from any school district in Ohio. During the 2018–19 school year, in which Roosevelt had a student body of 1,308, 78.2% of students were classified as non-Hispanic White, 10.9% non- Hispanic Black, 1.4% Asian, 2.8% Hispanic, and 6.5% multi-racial.
Some of the Australians had apparently been ordered to take no prisoners and were reluctant to advance, when it became clear that few Italians intended not to fight on. The Australians were ordered to encourage the Italians to surrender and by the 2/9th Battalion had occupied the first four knolls. Due to the short shooting on A Company, a platoon of D Company, the battalion reserve, was sent forward to assist in the assault. The Italian defenders rallied, a mountain gun on the last knoll and Italian positions around the fort and plantation area opened fire and an attempt by an Australian platoon, to cross the flats into the town was repulsed.
The Church estate covers a series of small knolls rising up to the Sienghenbergh – Dutch for "Long Hill" – where the main house is sited. From various points around the property, one has views of the Hudson River, the Catskill, Taconic and Berkshire Mountain ranges, as well as New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont. In 1860, Frederic Church made his initial acquisition of a 126-acre (50.99 ha) farm, which he developed into a ferme ornée, an ornamental farm.[6] Around Cosy Cottage, a profitable 15.5 acre (6.3 ha) orchard and 4.3 acres (1.7 ha) of vegetable and fruit gardens were created in addition to pastures and crop land, each with a distinct visual character.
The site features a Teotihuacan influenced three-sided pyramid, 12 meters base by 8 meters high, with an altar that possibly was used for sacrificial offerings. There are approximately 28 knolls: small pyramids buried, in which no archaeological work has been made. The hill slope is divided by a ravine that divides the two sectors, this place is where Friar Bernardino de Sahagún passed and described it saying that it "has crystalline water cascades, at the foot stones, women were washing clothes while children swam and plunged into water". Over the ravine stones are the cave paintings, which are difficult to see, these are dispersed over the "Cerro La Mesa" behind the pyramid.
The fell is a wedge-shaped piece of high ground, about 2 km by 1.5 km in extent. The highest parts are on a short ridge which extends from Norman Crag in the north-west corner (above Thorneythwaite Farm), over Airy Crag, the actual summit (481 m), several other knolls, Green Hill (437 m) and down to Yew Crag in the south-east corner. A north-east trending ridge parallel to Ullswater continues the high ground over the subsidiary tops of Great Meldrum (437 m), Little Meldrum (404 m) and Watermillock Fell (424 m, unnamed on Ordnance Survey maps) to connect with Little Mell Fell at a col called The Hause (c. 380 m).
It marked a point where the Mojave River would appear above ground to run on the surface surrounded by grassland, marshes and groves of cottonwood and willow. This made it a camping spot along the old trails and roads that followed the river. In 1863, the area of Point of Rocks was first settled by the Nicholson family.Richard D. and Kathryn L. The Fajã of Entre Poios (), literally meaning the Fajã between Hills/Knolls is a permanent debris field, built from the collapsing cliffs on the northern coast of the civil parish of Velas, in the municipality of Velas, island of São Jorge, in the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores. There were several families from this district with their own woodlots at Entre Poios, where they would collect wood for their ovens. This fajã served the purpose of raising wild goats and for the collection of timber, which was transported uphill to the community of Beira (in the centre of the island). There are three small ravines, one of which is a permanent course, that cross the fajã.
Green Hill Fort is at about 16ha, 1.5km west-south-west of Thursday Island town, comprising all of Lot 9 SP133779, including all structures and formations associated with the fortifications at the summit of Green Hill. Green Hill Fort complex is situated on the western end of the high ridge that forms the east-west spine of Thursday Island. It comprises three principal areas: the fortifications at the western end of the ridge and the surrounding landscape; a small, densely forested saddle between two small knolls in the ridge to the east of the fortifications; and further east still the former barracks site and surrounding landscape. The complex is accessible by an unsealed track off Summers Street, and by a sealed road off Chester Street.
The Minnesota River flow is augmented by Yellow Bank River near the county's north corner, and by Lac qui Parle River near the county's east border. The south fork of the Yellow Bank flows northward through the west portion of the county, and meets the north fork of the Yellow Bank in the north end of the county; the combined flow discharges into the Minnesota at the county's NE border. The Lac qui Parle flows eastward through the lower portion of the county, discharging into the Minnesota near the community of Lac qui Parle. The county terrain consists of rolling hills, knolls and short bluffs near the west end, running to a steep bluff overlooking the Minnesota River valley on its east border.
Bronxville's 10708 ZIP code covers the village of Bronxville proper, plus Chester Heights and other sections of Eastchester, parts of Tuckahoe, and Lawrence Park West, Cedar Knolls, Armour Villa, and other sections of Yonkers. These areas are collectively known as "Bronxville P.O." and are not located with-in the boundaries of the Village of Bronxville, therefore their residents are not considered residents of the village despite sharing the same zip code. Central Bedfordshire Council and the National Trust commissioned Archetype architects to build a visitor centre known as the Chilterns Gateway Centre, on the very top of Dunstable Downs. The summit is right next to the B4541 road that crosses the hill, and so an ascent of the hill requires nothing more than getting out of a car at the highest point and walking across to the trig point. For those who wish to climb the hill from the base, it is possible to do a circular walk from the village of Whipsnade by following the Icknield Way Path and Chiltern Way, both of which are marked on Ordnance Survey maps. This circuit can be extended to take in the northern top of Five Knolls.
The complex was discovered by Horace Holland of Leighton, Alabama, a teacher at Colbert County High School and member of the Alabama Archaeological Society, who was interested in Alabama prehistory and often took his students on field trips to collect artifacts. The site Holland discovered is designated as Alabama State Site 1Ct161, and is located in the approximate center of the complex on an eroded knoll descending into the sinkhole. The remaining twenty or so fluted point sites are located on an undulating series of small natural mounds surrounding this large karstic pond. The knolls vary in elevation from 550 feet 580 feet AMSL, and most of these spots would have been in view of one another through during the Pleistocene Period.
These perplexing results have since led the shipboard researchers to believe that gas hydrates were present in the core and would explain the high volumes of gas locked in the small quantity of water filling the sediment pore spaces and the long degassing time. During the R/V Sonne SO174 research cruise in 2004, remote sensing results guided researchers to the discovery of oil, gas, and asphalt seepage on the top of one knoll in the northern tip of the Campeche Knolls province. This knoll was named Chapapote, the Aztec word for “tar,” and is located at 21° 54’ N by 93° 26’ W in approximately 1.8 mi (3, 000 m) water depth. Extensive surface deposits of solidified asphalt are present at Chapapote, with one subcircular-shaped flow measuring at least across.
The planning of the village, at least in the most important elements, concerns the patterns found in Trebiano and especially Castelnuovo Magra, which predominate in sets of houses and streets with a straight line along the ridge of hills, from which stand the volume of the church and bell tower. At the top of the village stand the ruins of an ancient castle, near rounded knolls, that recall the castles of the Ligurians, a people of shepherds and farmers jealous of their independence. Parts of the castle are much older than the medieval period. According to historian Livy, 40,000 inhabitants of the Ligurian Apuan, and other 7,000 people in the Val di Magra and Vara, the Sannio, were the victims of the first deportation of history, by the consuls Cornelius Cethegus and Mario Bebio.

Thompson Island () is the largest and northeasternmost of the Balaena Islands, situated about 0.5 nautical miles (0.9 km) from the coast of Antarctica and 15 nautical miles (28 km) northeast of the Windmill Islands. The island consists of two rocky knolls separated by a low saddle of snow (it may actually be two islands connected by ice). This feature was first photographed from aircraft of U.S. Navy Operation Highjump in February 1947, and was mapped from that photography by Gardner Blodgett in 1955. It was visited by a party of the ANARE (Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions) on January 19, 1956, and named for Richard Thompson, Administrative Officer, Antarctic Division, Melbourne, who was second-in-command for several years of ANARE relief expeditions to Heard Island, Macquarie Island and Mawson Station.
It serves most of Kent and Franklin Township, the villages of Brady Lake and Sugar Bush Knolls and a small part of southern Streetsboro. Kent has four neighborhood elementary schools that serve students in grades K–5, Stanton Middle School for grades 6–8, and Theodore Roosevelt High School for grades 9–12. There are plans to redevelop the former Wingdale Psychiatric Center into a mixed-use commercial and residential neighborhood known as Dover Knolls, centered around the . Northward expansion took place most recently when it was extended from Dover Plains to Wassaic in 2000, requiring a costly rebuilding of tracks that had been abandoned years before. Going further north would require substantial investment to rebuild tracks, grade crossings, stations and other facilities that were removed long ago, and obtaining eminent domain for the train property used by the Harlem Valley Rail Trail. Expansion of either line would probably be limited to Dutchess County, as extending Metro-North into Columbia County, and thus to Chatham, would require changes to the MTA charter, and residents of that county would become subject to the MTA tax.

Uphill Cliff looking North East The partially ruined church, on the edge of Weston- super-Mare, sits on a cliff top the southern slope of which and the quarry at its western end form the Uphill Cliff Site of Special Scientific Interest, notable for its species-rich calcareous grassland. It consists of grassland and rock-face situated on Carboniferous Limestone. Steeper banks and knolls in the grassland have a flora which includes orchids, Somerset Hair Grass (Koeleria vallesiana), and Honewort, (Trinia glauca) and the Goldilocks Aster (Galatella linosyris) along with several species of butterfly and Weevil (Curculionoidea). The church overlooks Weston Bay, Brean Down and the mouth of the River Axe which was used as a port in Roman times, probably for the export of lead from the Mendip Hills.
All U.S. Navy submarines and supercarriers built since 1975 are nuclear-powered by such reactors. There are no commissioned conventional (non-nuclear) submarines or aircraft carriers left in the U.S. Navy, since the last conventional carrier, , was decommissioned in May 2009. The U.S. Navy had nine nuclear- powered cruisers with such reactors also, but they have since been decommissioned. Reactors are designed by a variety of contractors, then developed and tested at one of several government (Department of Energy) owned and prime contractor-operated facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania and its associated Naval Reactors Facility in Idaho, and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Niskayuna, New York and its associated Kesselring site in West Milton, New York, all under the management of the office of Naval Reactors.
Today, the park is part of a larger group of county parks known as the Pescadero-Memorial Park Complex, formed by nearby land acquisitions: # Memorial Park (1924) # Sam McDonald County Park (acquired 1958, established 1970) # Heritage Grove Redwood Preserve # Pescadero Creek County Park (acquired 1968) They are adjacent to Portola Redwoods State Park and close to several areas preserved by the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, including the Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve and the Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve. Sam McDonald Park is divided into two halves approximately by Pescadero Road: in the northwest, largely forested with redwood trees, and in the southeast, open ridge and grassy knolls. Heritage Grove Redwood Preserve lies to the east of the southeastern half of Sam McDonald Park, and has of old-growth redwood forest along Alpine Creek.

He was born approximately around 1180, his father was Obizzo II. He started his diplomatic career in 1198 when he himself confirmed the attornment of the knolls of the “Court of Gondola” to the city of Piacenza. The juridical procedures needed for this attornment had started to be composed years before by his uncles Alberto Malaspina and Morroello Malaspina. His diplomatic career hence began under the supervision of his uncles, who, until he turned 18, were acting in his name, he also worked alongside his cousins, they were tied by their common ancestor, the marques Obizzo I. In the period they worked together they had an intense diplomatic activity trying to solve the contrasts that arose with the Count-Bishop of the diocese of “Luni”, consequentially they signed agreements with the cities of Genoa, Milan, Piacenza, Tortona and Modena.
Cedar Knolls has also been host to many sports figures and people associated with sports, especially during the 1940s and 1950s. Ford C. Frick, ghost writer for Babe Ruth, president of the National League (1934–1951), founder of the Baseball Hall of Fame (1939), and Commissioner of Baseball (1951–1965), lived on Dellwood Road during much of this time. Prior to the invention of reliable stop-action photography, artist Lon Keller (Beechmont Ave.) pioneered the drawing of sports figures in action poses for magazines such as Sports Illustrated. He also designed the world-famous NY Yankees logo, incorporating a baseball bat and top hat; Lee McPhail, owner of the Yankees in 1949, wanted a patriotic post-war Yankee logo, and he got it with Lon's use of Uncle Sam's top hat with a red, white, and blue motif.
This theory was discounted as early as 1872, when Charles Kingsley commented in his book Town Geology: The natural bowl-shaped depression to which the name of chair has been attached, was formed by a cirque glacier during multiple ice ages when snow and ice accumulated on these slopes partly through avalanching. The glacier was up to a square kilometre in size surrounded on three sides by steep cliffs the highest being the headwall. The chair of Cadair Idris is this bowl-shaped hollow in the bedrock formed by the movement of glacial ice across the floor of the hollow, abrading it and the lip over which it then flowed. There are several tear-drop shaped knolls above the edge of Llyn Cau, each of which is a roche moutonnée formed by the abrasive action of the moving ice.

The boys team made it into the second round of the County Playoff Tournament before losing to local powerhouse, Delbarton School and the state tournament losing to Vernon Township High School in the first round. In 2018, the Morris Knolls boys soccer team started with a record of 0-4 and went on to win the North I Group IV state championship, and ended the season with a 17-10-1 season record. The team won their first sectional title in almost 50 years when they defeated top-ranked Montclair High School by a score of 3-2 in double overtime in the tournament final.

A lack of water during the early days of Palmer Township limited the amount of farming that could be done, and industry was limited mainly to the Bushkill Creek waterways, where some form of power was available. Residents had to get water from hand dug wells because it was too difficult to find a source of water close to the surface of the ground. Other industries began to arise in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including some iron ore excavation in the Fairview Knolls area and cement industry near the Tatamy area; also at this time, the Taylor Wharton and Treadwell Engineering were established in Palmer Township to manufacture equipment mainly for railroad use. Gradually, farming techniques grew more and more in the area, until by the late 1960s almost 50 percent of the township was in farm lands.
In February 1937, against the backdrop of the Great Depression, George Pepperdine founded a liberal arts college in the city of Los Angeles to be affiliated with the Churches of Christ and to be called—to the founder's embarrassment—George Pepperdine College. On September 21, 1937, 167 new students from 22 different states and two other countries entered classes on a newly built campus on at West 79th Street and South Vermont Avenue in the Vermont Knolls neighborhood of South Los Angeles, later referred to as the Vermont Avenue campus. The campus was designed in the Streamline Moderne style by John M. Cooper, an art deco architect. By April 5, 1938, George Pepperdine College was fully accredited by the Northwest Association in large part due to the leadership of president Batsell Baxter and dean Hugh M. Tiner.

The march took ten days, and the battery remained at Whiteside until 28 April, when it joined General Daniel Butterfield's Third Division of XX Corps at Lookout Valley for the advance towards Atlanta. The advance steadily proceeded until the 19 May Battle of Cassville, in which Battery I was engaged without loss. At Cassville, the Parrotts of the battery were emplaced in the sector of the Third Division on two knolls, potentially enfilading the Confederate line on the ridge east of Cassville. Late that day, the battery contributed to the Union bombardment against the ridge, which forced a Confederate retreat without a fight. The battery later fought in the Battle of New Hope Church on 27–28 May, the Battle of Lost Mountain on 17 June, the Battle of Culp's House on 1 July, the Battle of Marietta on 3 July, and the Battle of Peachtree Creek on 20 July.

The major Australian attack on Shaggy Ridge – codenamed Operation Cutthroat – was launched by the 18th Brigade on 19–20 January. The 2/4th Field Regiment, which established its guns around the Lake area to the west of the Mosia River, and south of Guy's Post, while stores were brought up to that position by jeep. The brigade's three battalions were to converge on the Kankiryo Saddle from three different directions: the 2/12th Infantry Battalion was to advance from Canning's Saddle, east of Shaggy Ridge, and attack two well-defended knolls on the northern end of Shaggy Ridge, known as Prothero I and II; the 2/9th Infantry Battalion would attack northwards along Shaggy Ridge itself, to take McCaughey's Knoll, by way of Green Sniper's Pimple; and the 2/10th Infantry Battalion would advance along Faria Ridge, which lay to the east of Shaggy Ridge and joined it at Kankiryo Saddle.

The Part Yellow trail – 3 km The trail starts at the car park by the road at Hafursá stream and leads up a gravel road, then under and along a power line. The Knolls Blue trail – 5 km The trail leads up from the old home economics school (now a guest house in summer), past a rock outcrop called the Old Woman and north through the forest. It goes through the Flat Forest, which is a tall (by Icelandic standards) birch forest and thence to Falcon Cliffs, which provides a view over the forest. Then, down through a spruce forest to an open area that was once the farm Ormsstaðir, from where the trail leads back to the start. Hallormsstaður Moors Orange trail – 7 km An easily followed and relatively easily hiked trail between Hallormsstaður Forest and the farm Geirólfsstaðir in the next valley to the east.

The Germans had occupied the area for years and in that time had developed an elaborate defensive system of four fortified lines with a dense network of wire entanglements, machine-gun positions, and concrete fighting posts. In between these trench lines, the Germans had added a series of strong points in the woods and knolls. With five divisions on the line and another seven in reserve, French General Philippe Petain believed that the German defenses were so strong that the Americans would do well if they managed to reach one of their first objectives, the town of Montfaucon, located a few miles behind enemy lines, before winter. At 05:30 hours on 26 September 1918, after a three-hour artillery bombardment, Pershing launched his attack.
