The EggRobos excavate the source of the signal, a magical gemstone called the Phantom Ruby, just as Sonic and Tails arrive. The EggRobos gain new powers from the ruby, becoming the Hard Boiled Heavies, and send Sonic, Tails, and the island's guardian, Knuckles, through zones they have previously visited where they pursue Eggman to prevent him from using the ruby's power for evil, clashing with him and the Heavies along the way.

The monthly showcase ran for nearly two years. The showcase featured three to four female acts, unsigned and signed singers, and comedians. Between releases, Smith served as a temporary lead session singer for British funk group The Brand New Heavies on their album We Won't Stop.The Syberspace Social on Amazon.

In July 2016, the band began touring extensively in Europe and Japan with Sulene Fleming on vocals. She stayed until 2018. In November 2018 the band started touring with Angela Ricci on vocals. The Brand New Heavies premiered their new single "Getaway" with N'Dea Davenport on vocals in April 2019.

The second stage was hosted by Chapel FM and featured performances from artists such as Arcarode and Samuel S. Parkes. The main stage saw performances from Garforth Jazz Rock Band and Ubunye alongside BBC Big Band featuring Clare Teal; Seth Lakeman; Femi Kuti & The Positive Force and headliners The Brand New Heavies.

Horace McMahon (May 17, 1906 - August 17, 1971) was an American actor. He was one of Hollywood's favorite heavies. McMahon began his acting career on Broadway, then appeared in many films and television series. In 1962, he received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for his performance in the series Naked City (1958–1963).

However, compared to his previous singles, "All Through the Night" failed to live up to expectations. Despite its poor performance in radio and sales, the music video received heavy airplay on MTV and BET. It is his last single to chart. A remix was made featuring Tone Lōc's labelmates, the Brand New Heavies.

Suck were a rock band who were part of South Africa's first wave of hard rock titled "The Big Heavies". The group lasted eight months between 1970 and 1971, during which they recorded their lone LP, Time to Suck. It was later released in America in 2009."[ Time to Suck > Overview]". Allmusic.

A new version of the Heavies' debut single "Got To Give" with new vocals by Davenport and Jan Kincaid closes the album. Though N'Dea was not originally a member of the group, by the time of this 1992 re-release she was shown on the cover of the album with the band and her own feature credit.

BANG was founded in New York City in January 1989 by former advertising agency creative director Lyle Greenfield. The company was first housed in the studios of hip-hop recording facility, Calliope Productions, where artists such as De La Soul, Queen Latifah, Black Sheep, A Tribe Called Quest, Brand New Heavies and Stereo MCs had recorded their early records.

The album's liner notes have a dedication from Maxwell to his "musze", stating "I could never have done this without you". The album opens with an instrumental track, "The Urban Theme", which begins with the sound of a stylus dropping on a vinyl record. The track's prominent funk sound is reminiscent of the music of the Brand New Heavies.

He soon returned to his home after a false arrest and a near death experience. From there, he pursued a career in music and worked as a break- dancer. Prior to forming his own band, it was widely reported that he failed an audition to become a singer for The Brand New Heavies. The group, however, denied these claims.

Soul Food is the second album by Def Jef. It was released on September 22, 1991, on Delicious Vinyl and featured production from Def Jef, DJ Mark the 45 King, the Brand New Heavies, and Devastatin' of Funkytown Pros. Two singles were released, "Here We Go Again" and "Cali's All That," but neither made it to the Billboard charts.

This saw the transition of debt to trouble as Marco is pursued by the "loan shark's heavies" daily.Monroe 1996, p.19. Marco's exit storyline saw him traveling to London with Rick and Debbie Martin (Marnie Reece-Wilmore) to watch Michael Jackson on tour. Very well received by the Press, Feiz’s clothes are featured in Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar, British Vogue, Teen Vogue and Paris Match among other magazines and have been worn by celebrities such as Katie Holmes, Elizabeth Hurley, Beyoncé, Julia Stiles, Paris Hilton and Girls Aloud.

The gang included John Junkin, Frank Mills, Oscar James and Peter Blake. Other notable actors included Norman Rodway (as Inspector Bryce - the man who put Ross away), Brian Croucher (Frank's only real friend Chris), Andrew Paul as his son Paul Ross with Linda Robson as Paul's girlfriend Mo, Brian Cox (as gangland rival McGrath), Derrick O'Connor and Bryan Marshall (two of McGrath's heavies).

M103 at Ft. Lewis The M103 was manufactured at the Detroit Arsenal Tank Plant and the first units were accepted in 1957. The M103 was designed to counter Soviet heavies. Its long-ranged 120 mm cannon was designed to hit enemy tanks at extreme distances, but it was never used in combat. Of the 300 M103s built, most went to the Marines.

Mike Smith is an English musician. He gained experience as a studio musician, playing and touring with Brand New Heavies. Smith is a member of the Gorillaz live band and performing with them right up to their Humanz tour. He also an arranger of film scores including The Kid Who Would Be King and A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon.

There was a 48-hour preliminary bombardment, then when the attack went in at 05.30 on 9 April the most powerful and concentrated bombardment of the war so far crashed onto the German lines. A limited number such types operated in the Kongo kingdom, and were armed with shields, unlike other forces. Lester began his career in the music business as a guitarist with London glam rock outfit, The Eyes. Under the pressure, Gary fell victim to alcoholism, became violent in the process and walked out on Val and Lucy. With Gary gone, Valene is then driven off Southfork by J.R., but she soon returns to get baby Lucy and flees to Virginia, and later to her home state of Tennessee, where she tries to get help from her mother, Lilimae Clements (Julie Harris), to take them in, but they are turned away. At this point, Valene and Lucy had already been tracked down by heavies that were hired by J.R. and the heavies rip Lucy right out of Valene's arms, and take Lucy back to Southfork to be raised by her paternal grandparents. At the club a pair of hired muscle known as Buddy Boom and Buddy Bing are threatening the club owner, Kilopatra, so Sinister and Dexter step in to help him and scare off the heavies, thus picking themselves up a holiday job. Kilopatra sends the pair off to pay a visit to local mob-king Philly O'Fisch, as it was he who sent the two heavies after Kilopatra. "Sometimes" is a 1997 song by British group Brand New Heavies. The song was released as the lead single from their third album, Shelter. It is performed by singer Siedah Garrett, who also co-wrote it. The song is one of their most successful songs and charted at number 11 in the UK and number 88 in the US. It also peaked at number 16 in Scotland.

Reed started his cinema career in Bordertown Gun Fighters, a 1943 western starring Wild Bill Elliott. (Another source says, "He made his screen debut in Silver Spurs (1943).") An athletic stuntman, Reed handled much of his own fighting and riding. Over the years, he did dozens of westerns and cliffhanger serials for Columbia and Republic studios, in which he was usually cast as action heavies.

Terra was immersed in Prince, Al Green, Bob Marley, Joni Mitchell, Cocteau Twins, PJ Harvey, Tori Amos, Björk, Seal, Joyce, Lenny Kravitz and Nick Drake. She was also into the Brand New Heavies and Deee Lite and all of the underground vinyl you would hear on the dance floor. She wanted to create music as life changing as the artists that were changing her.

In 1930, Lawrence befriended another young actor, John Garfield. The two appeared in a number of plays before Lawrence was given a film contract with Columbia Pictures. Lawrence's film debut came in 1933. Lawrence's pock-marked complexion, brooding appearance and New York street-guy accent made him a natural for heavies, and he played scores of gangsters and mob bosses over the next six decades.

Most often he played lovable father figures, stern businessmen, heavies, ship captains or authority figures of some sort. During the 1940s, he was nominated three times for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He served as host of the 1950s television series The Man Behind the Badge. On April 16, 1958, Bickford appeared with Roger Smith in "The Daniel Barrister Story" on NBC's Wagon Train.

In a same 1988 article, an INS officer at the Embassy of the United States, Seoul, said that social workers were hired by adoption agencies to perform the role of "heavies" to convince South Korean mothers to give their children up for adoption.

The band issued a debut recording for Eddie Piller's Acid Jazz label in 1990 with Jay Ella Ruth as lead singer. A single, "Got to Give", came out on Cooltempo before the Brand New Heavies signed to Acid Jazz Records and released Brand New Heavies to critical acclaim. The band signed to a division of Chrysalis Records in the UK, and American distribution was picked up by influential label Delicious Vinyl, and N'Dea Davenport (who had signed an artist development deal with Delicious Vinyl) joined the group. A revamped version of the first album with vocals by N'Dea Davenport was then released, and the singles "Dream Come True", "Never Stop" and "Stay This Way", all with Davenport on lead vocals, became hits on both sides of the Atlantic, with the latter becoming a music video directed by Douglas Gayeton that saw heavy rotation on MTV.

Nicknamed "Sonny", McCalman helped form the Front Street Theatre in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army. Over the course of his acting career McCalman appeared in various film and TV guest roles, usually in supporting parts, both dramatic and comedic often as heavies and authoritarian figures. He got his acting start on Broadway appearing in productions of The Last of Mrs.

Her diverse musical tastes led to an eventual stance as a New York club DJ and she continues to DJ on special events around Asia. In 2006, she re-emerged once more with the Brand New Heavies for one last album release of Get Used To It. Her latest project is with collaborator Katsuya Everywhere in the multi-media based electronic and acoustic duo Celectrixx, which was conceived in Japan.

Cowley was born in London, England. He began as a classical pianist and performed a Shostakovich piano concerto at the age of 10 at Queen Elizabeth Hall. In his late teens Cowley moved into being a keyboardist for soul and funk acts Mission Impossible, the Brand New Heavies, Gabrielle and Zero 7. He also appeared as a co-composer and session musician with the jazz-rock group Samuel Purdey.

He was also guest host on season two of GunnyTime. AllMovie journalist Tracie Cooper wrote that, by the conclusion of The X-Files in 2002, Patrick had developed a "solid reputation within the industry", with critics, fans and co- stars alike praising his "work ethic, personality, and consistent performances." Actor and director Jason Bateman described Patrick as "one of the great heavies."Identity Thief: Cops, Cons and Skiptracers .

The Devil's Touch is the first of three compilation albums by Lucifer's Friend. This compilation collects some of Lucifer's Friend's best songs from their first album Lucifer's Friend (1970) up to Mind Exploding (1976) (excluding, however 1972's, Where the Groupies Killed the Blues). This compilation was released by Fontana Records in 1976. The other compilation would be released by Vertigo Records in 1980, which was called Rock Heavies: Lucifer's Friend.

In late 2006, Moulton remixed the Brand New Heavies (featuring N'Dea Davenport)'s single "I Don't Know (Why I Love You)." A Tom Moulton Mix was used as the title of a compilation of Moulton's remixes on Soul Jazz Records. The British label Harmless Records has released albums of Moulton's work of remixed tracks, originally issued on Philadelphia International and other Philly soul labels, mainly during the 1970s.

It was also used as the b-side for their 1975 single Try A Little Harder, and peaked at No. 42 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The song was covered by the B.E.F. on their 1991 album Music of Quality and Distinction Volume Two, featuring Green Gartside of Scritti Politti on vocals. The Brand New Heavies cover the song on their 2006 album Get Used to It.

He was part of the ensemble cast of the Martin and Lewis radio show. He also appeared frequently on The Adventures of the Saint, often playing gangsters and heavies, but also sometimes in more positive roles. Leonard was also a regular on the radio comedy series The Adventures of Maisie in the 1940s. During the 1950s, Leonard provided the voice of lazy fat cat Dodsworth in two Warner Bros.

After he started to get acting jobs in France, Juan adopted the French version of his name, Jean, and shortened his surname to Reno. Due to his large frame (), Reno was called on to play "heavies" in his early career. He later appeared in romantic comedies and action films. He began his film career in France, appearing in many films by director Luc Besson, including his early Le dernier combat (1983).

The album was recorded in New York and London; and the lead single "I Don't Know Why (I Love You)" was issued in early May. The single was notable for being one of very few late releases to feature the trademarked A Tom Moulton Mix, as he had been asked to contribute remixes. Later that year, their Heavy Rhyme Experience, Vol. 1 album track "Jump 'n' Move" featuring Jamal-ski was featured on the soundtrack for the 2006 computer animated feature film Happy Feet and the in-game soundtrack for 2004's NBA Live 2005 and 2009's NBA 2k10. The band toured at the end of 2006. The Heavies recorded a cover of "C'est Magnifique" (originally from Cole Porter's 1953 musical Can-Can) for an early 2009 TV ad by Lancôme. The song also appeared in an early track listing of the Heavies' 2009 live album, but wasn't eventually included. The 2-CD Live in London was released in October 2009.

The 1991 US release of The Brand New Heavies on Delicious Vinyl Records reached #17 on the Billboard R&B; Album charts. The release brought the band to prominence with the success of the singles "Never Stop" and "Dream Come True." The former of the two reached #3 on the US Billboard R&B; singles chart. Much of their success was due in part to singer N'Dea Davenport's charismatic vocal performance and stage presence.

The label's roster included Pharoah Sanders, Stereo MCs, MC Solaar, and Courtney Pine. In 1991 acid jazz broke into the mainstream with the success of Brand New Heavies. After one eponymous album (1990) with Acid Jazz Records, the group signed with FFRR Records and had the hit singles "Never Stop" and "Dreams Come True". Other bands included Incognito and Us3, whose "Cantaloop (Flip Fantasia)" (1993) was the biggest hit in the genre.

"Apparently Nothin" is a 1991 song by British/American acid jazz band Young Disciples. It features singer Carleen Anderson and was released as the second single from their only album, Road to Freedom. The song remains their biggest hit, peaking at number 13 in the UK. It also reached number 34 in the Netherlands. In 1999, a new version of "Apparently Nothin'" was released with Carleen Anderson and British group The Brand New Heavies.

Instead he had Wilfred Jackson (who is credited for the music of Steamboat Willie) act out the part for him, and that is what he used as live action reference.Bowers, pg 3 By 1940 Tytla was tiring of animating heavies. Not one to want to be typecast Tytla requested as his next assignment Dumbo, the baby elephant ridiculed and rejected because of his big ears. This time his reference was his own infant son, Peter.

Werfft claimed 11 more heavies in 1944, he was a Hauptmann (Captain) by October 1944. He was awarded the Ritterkreuz on 28 January 1945. At the end of World War II he was a Major and gruppenkommandeur of III./JG 27, flying a Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 fighter ("Yellow One") with a green fuselage band signifying dedication to Reich strategic airspace defence; he also had a total of 26 air kills.

Young's work has been shown nationally and internationally including at Scope/Basel, Switzerland SCOPE Art Show and Art Miami, Florida.

The Assassin class is fast and efficient in dueling enemies, but the class deals much less damage to multiple enemies. The Heavies (Tanks) are more resistant to damages and are suitable for holding capture points, though their attacks are slow. The last class, known as "Hybrid", is a combination of two of the three types, and is capable of using uncommon skills. All heroes are unique and have their own weapons, skills, and fighting styles.

Reel to Reel is the debut solo studio album by American rapper Grand Puba. It was released on October 20, 1992 through Elektra Records. Recording sessions took place at Power Play Studios in Long Island City, at Chung King House of Metal and at The Hit Factory in New York. Production was handled primarily by Grand Puba, along with Stimulated Dummies, Anthony Latief King, DJ Shabazz, Kid Capri and The Brand New Heavies.

Fearful for his family's safety, Stephen sends Phoebe and Hope to stay with Phoebe's former guardian Dorothy Burke (Maggie Dence) in the country for several days. In desperation, Stephen then asks Lou Carpenter to have some heavies "persuade" Russell to leave. Unfortunately the plan backfires and Wayne Duncan is mistaken for Russell and badly beaten instead. Some cite "Six Pack" and "Soul Fiesta" by The Apostles (1969) as acid jazz records during the 1960s. Acid jazz became popular in London clubs during the 1980s when disc jockeys associated with the rare groove movement played samples of obscure jazz records. The program's teacher, Reggie Andrews, taught the group about essential elements of the music industry, and later oversaw the group's writing and recording sessions. Dilla remix of "Sometimes" featuring rapper Q-Tip, and "Put the Funk Back in It." The US Trunk Funk also includes two tracks from Heavy Rhyme Experience, Vol.

Like many Israeli pop musicians such as Teapacks and the Idan Raichel project, Hadag Nahash blends Western pop music with Eastern elements to create a sound tapestry containing influences from funk and world music. "Ballad of Easy Rider" has been covered by the British folk rock band Fairport Convention and their version of the song was included as a bonus track on the 2003 re-release of the band's 1969 album, Unhalfbricking. Folk and blues singer Odetta also recorded a version of "Ballad of Easy Rider" for the 1969 various artists compilation, The Original Hits Of Right Now Plus Some Heavies From The Motion Picture "Easy Rider". Additionally, the arranger and composer Percy Faith released a recording of the song on his 1970 album, Held Over! Today's Great Movie Themes.

Thomas G. Lingham (April 7, 1870 - February 19, 1950; also credited as Thomas Lingham, Tom Lingham, and as T. G. Lingham) was an American stage performer and then a film actor during both the silent and early sound eras. He appeared in over 100 motion pictures between 1914 and 1934, often portraying villains, which in the film industry at that time were also called "heavies". During his 20-year screen career, Lingham was cast in productions for Kalem Company, Signal Film Corporation, Pathé, Universal Pictures, Mascot Pictures, Lone Star Film Company, and for other studios in and around Hollywood.

Mother Earth were an English acid jazz outfit based in London, formed by longtime Acid Jazz associate Bunny. The band members were Matt Deighton on guitar and vocals, Bryn Barklam on Hammond organ, Chris White on drums and Neil Corcoran on bass. Shauna Green was the lead singer on the first album. Prior to their debut live performance, where they played alongside another debutant band Jamiroquai, they started out as a studio project in 1991 with Paul Weller (on "Almost Grown"), James Taylor of the James Taylor Quartet and Simon Bartholomew from the Brand New Heavies as contributors.

Deborah Christine "Siedah" Garrett (born June 24, 1960) is an American singer and songwriter who has written songs and performed backing vocals for many recording artists in the music industry, such as Michael Jackson, The Pointer Sisters, Brand New Heavies, Quincy Jones, Tevin Campbell, Donna Summer, Madonna, Jennifer Hudson among others. Garrett has been nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Original Song, and won the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media at the 50th Grammy Awards for co-writing "Love You I Do" (performed by Jennifer Hudson) for the 2006 musical film, Dreamgirls.

At the very end of his career, his final appearance was in The Sin Ship, which was also his only directing credit. The film was released in April 1931, after Wolheim's death, however after its completion, Wolheim had decided that directing was not for him, and had stated he would only act from that point forward. According to the biography included in the DVD version of All Quiet on the Western Front, Wolheim wanted, at one point in his career, to play romantic leads instead of tough "heavies". To that end, he sought to have plastic surgery performed on his broken nose.

He was later the spokesman for American Express. Film and culture critic Charles Champlin described Malden as "an Everyman, but one whose range moved easily up and down the levels of society and the IQ scale, from heroes to heavies and ordinary, decent guys just trying to get along", and at the time of his death, Malden was described as "one of the great character actors of his time" who created a number of "powerhouse performances on screen". A medium bomber is a military bomber aircraft designed to operate with medium-sized bombloads over medium range distances; the name serves to distinguish this type from larger heavy bombers and smaller light bombers. Mediums generally carried about two tons of bombs, compared to light bombers that carried one ton, and heavies that carried four or more. The term was used prior to and during World War II, based on available parameters of engine and aeronautical technology for bomber aircraft designs at that time. After the war, medium bombers were replaced in world air forces by more advanced and capable aircraft.

Trunk Funk – The Best of The Brand New Heavies was released September 13, 1999 in the UK on FFRR Records. It highlights the group's dance and pop oriented UK hits, with many appearing in remixed, edited, or radio-friendly formats. Because lead singer Siedah Garrett left the band in 1998, and previous lead N'Dea Davenport was out promoting her solo debut, UK singer Carleen Anderson fills in on vocals for this album. Three new recordings appear here, "Try My Love," the Marvin Gaye redux "Saturday Nite," and a cover of "Apparently Nothing," originally done by Anderson's former band Young Disciples.

Army and Company Cards were eliminated and detachments were picked from largely unrestricted detachment rosters of a very general type (Imperial Guard Infantry, Space Marine Armour and so on, in the case of the Imperial army list). Jack Lambert (April 13, 1920 – February 18, 2002) was an American character actor who specialized in playing movie tough guys and heavies. He is best known for playing the psychotic cat-loving, iron-hooked Steve "the Claw" Michel in Dick Tracy's Dilemma. Following a spell on Broadway, the Yonkers, New York-born Lambert moved to Hollywood and began working in films in 1942. He was a familiar figure in Westerns and crime dramas after World War II, in such movies as The Killers, The Enforcer, Bend of the River, Vera Cruz, Kiss Me Deadly, and How the West Was Won.

This led to Frederick Lindemann's notorious "dehousing" paper, which called for the bomber efforts to be used against the houses of the German citizens to break their ability to work and will to resist. This became official policy of the RAF in 1942. While the debate raged, Bomber Command dramatically lowered their sortie rate, awaiting the rebuilding of the force with the newly arriving 4-engine "heavies" such as the Handley Page Halifax and Avro Lancaster, and the deployment of Gee. The two, combined, would offer the accuracy and weight of bombs that Lindemann's calculations called for.

Heavy tank was a class of tanks produced from World War I through the end of the Cold War. These tanks generally sacrificed mobility and maneuverability for better armour protection and equal or greater firepower than tanks of lighter classes. The origins of the class date to World War I and the first tanks; designed to operate in close concert with the infantry and facing both artillery and the first dedicated anti-tank guns, early tanks had to have enough armour to allow them to survive in no man's land. In Los Angeles, in between tour dates with The Syndicate, Bronx Style Bob became a founding member of Los Angeles funk collective Trulio Disgracias featuring members of Fishbone, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Brand New Heavies, Parliament, Funkadelic, Thelonious Monster, Suicidal Tendencies, and The Untouchables. They became opening band for groups like Living Colour, Bad Brains, Soundgarden, and Primus to name a few. Bob also discovered an experimental rock/metal band from Sacramento, California called the Deftones and he immediately brought them to the attention of Maverick Records's Guy Oseary. With Maverick, the Deftones became a Grammy award-winning multi platinum success.

In 1987, along with fellow DJ Gilles Peterson, he started a new record label: Acid Jazz Records.BBC, Eddie Piller This soon gave rise to Britain's newest musical movement, the acid jazz scene, which included bands such as the James Taylor Quartet, Corduroy, Brand New Heavies, Mother Earth, Galliano and Jamiroquai, most of whom Piller signed in 1992 after Peterson's departure from the label. As well as managing the bands Piller produced some of the records, most notably Mother Earth's album The People Tree. Currently, actor Matt Berry is signed to Acid Jazz Records and has released four albums on the label.

In fact, in the 1916 "Motion Picture Studio Directory" published in the trade publication Motion Picture News, a section of several pages is devoted to profiling actors who specialize in roles as villains or "heavies".MPN news item reporting about Lingham's work on Signal's 1916 five-reeler The Manager of the B. and A., August 12, 1916, page 922.

In the age of cannon at sea, the main battery was the principal group of weapons around which a ship was designed, usually its heavies. With the coming of naval rifles and subsequent revolving gun turrets, the main battery became the principal group of heaviest guns, regardless of how many turrets they were placed in. As missiles displaced guns both above and below the water their principal group became a vessel's main battery. Between the age of sail and its cannons and the dreadnought era of large iron warships fighting ships' weapons deployments lacked standardization, with a variety of naval rifles of mixed breach and caliber scattered throughout vessels.

The Ratskin tribes have lived within the underhive for millennia and treat it as a god, generous in its bounty and merciless in its vengeance. They have little to do with the hivers and are rarely encountered, preferring to steer clear of the heathens who desecrate their sacred hive by poisoning its sacred places. From a player perspective, Ratskins are a fast close combat gang with no heavies to provide covering fire. They are also less affected by attrition than most gangs; injured Ratskins may re-roll the injury table results at the end of the battle, but they must accept the second result.

Soon after the album Ruff Life was released. The Group performed as an opening act in the Flavor Unit Tour which featured House of Pain, Cypress Hill, Das EFX, Apache, Black Sheep, Queen Latifah, and Naughty by Nature. The Group was also a member of the original Source Magazine mobile van tour along with EPMD, Black Sheep, Raheem, K-Solo, Red Hot Lover Tone and the Brand New Heavies. After releasing their second single, Not U Again B/W I Mean It the group felt the Select Records did not do a good job promoting them or their music so they parted ways with the label.

They had been allocated 10 rounds per gun for the first pre-arranged lift, 15 for the second, and their last 25 rounds for the third and final lift. After the initial phase of the attack, therefore, the intensity of the shelling the Germans received, and the direct support that the heavies could offer, was severely limited. Interviewed by 5 Chicago magazine in June 2006, singer stated that she was, "working on another album," with George Jackson (a former manager of the Silk Entertainment label), Tre, and Ron Carroll, and expressed her wish to work with Steve Hurley as well back again. Instead, Peniston co-wrote with Jackson single "It’s Alright" for RaShaan Houston, and took part in another proto-D’vas project, produced by Full Flava, to which she contributed with a Brand New Heavies hit from 1997 (No. 21 in UK ), "You Are the Universe".

The result was that the first fork of the Russian cavalry attack encountered The Thin Red Line and were driven off, while the second fork, crossing the heights above the plain, encountered four regiments of the Heavy Brigade. The Russians – with between 1,500 and 2,000 men – were initially surprised to see the 800 British cavalry approaching, allowing Scarlett, the commander of the Heavy Brigades, to charge the Russians uphill. By this point Lucan had left Lord Cardigan in charge of the Light Brigade and raced over to the Heavies, later claiming that his duty trumpeter had ordered the British charge, which eventually forced the Russians to flee.

On 20 January 2008, The Sunday Star-Times printed an article entitled Cash-strapped schools call in heavies to collect donations by Catherine Woulfe. The article claims that debt collector Baycorp says that it has contacted "a handful" of parents on behalf of state schools to pay school donations. It further claims that community law advisory group YouthLaw has received calls from parents who have been chased by debt collectors because they have chosen not to pay school donations. Secondary Principals' Association head Arthur Graves, principal of Greymouth High School says he would never use a debt collector to chase school fees, but knows of others doing so.

The Russians were routed and retreated across the heights into the valley that shortly after would become so infamous. Although successful, it defied military doctrine of the time, as the Russians were more numerous and, more importantly, the charge was made uphill against an oncoming force. Cardigan had observed the action with his Lights from a short distance away, and had he used his initiative and chosen this moment to finish what Scarlett had started, the Charge of the Light Brigade might well have been remembered as a success. Later when Cardigan finally led his men into the valley, the Earl of Lucan, Scarlett and the Heavies waited in reserve.

Brand had an uncredited bit in Battleground (1949) and Port of New York (1949). His first credited part was in D.O.A. (1950) as a henchman named Chester. However, Lyman has developed the "Dynamic Vibrator" - a device intended for mining operations but one that can be amplified into a devastating weapon. Using his purple death Dr. Maldor forces Lyman to disclose the location of his plans. Captain America intervenes as the Scarab's heavies attempt to steal the plans and this leads to a sequence of plots by the Scarab to acquire a working version, as well as other devices, while trying to eliminate the interfering Captain before he succeeds in discovering Dr. Maldor's true identity or defeats him.

In the 1960s the building then became used as a music venue called Starkers Royal Arcade Ballrooms, which was visited by acts such as Pink Floyd, Status Quo, Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, Hawkwind, The Faces and David Bowie. In 1982 the building had a multimillion-pound refurbishment to become the Academy Nightclub. The nightclub had one of the first water- cooled lasers and the first Karaoke bar in the UK. Acts included The Sisters of Mercy, Hawkwind, Brand New Heavies, Courtney Pine, JTQ and Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Other acts known to have held concerts at the venue include Deep Purple, Canned Heat, T.Rex, Colosseum, Freedom, Joe Jammer and Slade.

Reynolds dismisses the claim by Read, as the publishers at the time wanted the name of the perpetrator before they would do a deal, therefore Buster offered himself up as the villain (Edwards and Goody were the chief movers behind the Read book).Crossing the Line (1995) by Bruce Reynolds (pp. 222-23) Buster Edwards was the member of the gang who ambushed David Whitby, Mills' assistant (called the "fireman" or "second man" on diesel locomotives). At the same time the rest of the gang were moving into position with Roy James, "Bill "Flossy" Jennings", and Jimmy White uncoupling the carriages and the 'heavies' ambushing the cab of the locomotive itself.

Meanwhile, Jo Halsaw allowed the La Luz nightclub to become notorious for all the wrong reasons, allowing drug dealing and prostitution to operate within the club and therefore the partnership between Barry and Jo never ran smoothly. Wanting Barry out of the partnership, Jo got her hired heavies to force Barry to sign the club completely over to her. Barry planned to torch the club for the insurance payout but was attacked by Jimmy Corkhill when he revealed to him that he had done it before to his shop. Jo wanted Barry out of her way for good and so invited him to the club to talk about the future.

In 1991, Rough Trade Records went into liquidation and with it, Lee's job. The slack was taken up by increasingly large amounts of studio commissions as his work as a remixer grew. The most important early remix, and the first done at new studio Unit 3, was Simphonia’s "Can't Get Over Your Love", which originally appeared on the Republic compilation Rewind in 1990. Over the next two or three years, Lee was responsible for some of the best UK dance remixes of the era, among them "Direct Me" by The Reese Project, Brand New Heavies' "Dream Come True" and Adeva's "Don't Let It Show on Your Face".

However the Firm subsequently set up a hit on Den, which fails when he escapes from hiding and turns himself into the police to avoid the Firm's heavies. As the Firm busy themselves with ways in which to silence Den from inside, Brad causes more grief by doing a bit of moonlighting; breaking into several people's houses on the Square with an accomplice who works as a cab driver for Ali Osman (Nejdet Salih). The burglaries result in a greater police presence in the area. The Firm are not impressed and Gregory Mantel (Pavel Douglas) – a superior member of the Firm – threatens Brad with serious repercussions should his deviance continue.

His ability to deliver straight, tough dialogue ("youse mugs") made him a natural for parts as heavies. Shorts like Calling All Curs, Nutty But Nice and Fright Night gave Schindell a chance to bully the Stooges around to great effect. In Matri-Phony and Fright Night the ex-pugilist was knocked cold by the trio, only to have the Stooges (concealed behind a curtain) maneuver the unconscious Schindell like a puppet (when Fright Night was remade in 1955 as Fling in the Ring, this footage was reused). The Richmond Minis is a large youth rugby organisation whilst the Richmond Heavies organise games for more veteran players. Cricket is played in many locations around the borough including Ham Common, Richmond Green and Kew Green.

All About the Funk (stylized as Allabouthefunk) is a funk album released by the Brand New Heavies. After their most identifiable lead singer N'Dea Davenport left the band to pursue a solo career in the mid-90s, the band rotated in several African-American singer/songwriters Siedah Garrett, Carleen Anderson, and Sy Smith as lead vocalists on previous projects. This independent follow-up release features British singer Nicole Russo on vocals for the entire project. The band covers Jimmy Cliff's "Many Rivers to Cross," as well as covering their own "What Do You Take Me For" which previously featured N'Dea Davenport on their 2003 album We Won't Stop.

"I Don't Know Why (I Love You)" was notable for being one of very few late releases to feature the trademarked A Tom Moulton Mix, as the legendary disco pioneer had been asked to contribute mixes. Impressed with the Heavies, the pioneering engineer eventually took on the task of remixing the entire Get Used To It. Unfortunately, the album's original mix was already finished and on its way to press. The new mixes were eventually re-released as Get Used To It: The Tom Moulton Mixes with a new cover featuring only Moulton's image. The digital re-release also made available instrumental mixes of each Tom Moulton mix.

Buono made his first network TV appearance playing the bearded poet Bongo Benny in an episode of 77 Sunset Strip. Over the next few years, he played menacing heavies in series on TV and appeared on The Untouchables. After appearing in a few uncredited film roles, he was cast by director Robert Aldrich in the psychological horror movie What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962). The film starred Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, and Buono played the hapless musical accompanist Edwin Flagg, a performance for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor – Motion Picture.

Sonic and his allies discover that Eggman has used the Phantom Ruby's power to retake control of Little Planet from Sonic CD. They board Eggman's robotic fortress, defeat him and the Heavies, and escape just as it explodes. If all 7 Chaos Emeralds are collected while playing as Sonic, the Phantom Ruby transports him and Eggman to another dimension. There, the Heavy King betrays Eggman and takes the ruby, imbuing himself with power; Eggman attacks the Heavy to try to reclaim it. Sonic uses the Chaos Emeralds to become Super Sonic and fights Eggman and the Heavy King separately to keep the ruby out of their possession.

At the end of each act, the player takes part in a boss battle against Dr. Robotnik or one of his robots, including the Hard-Boiled Heavies, elite henchmen based on the EggRobo enemies from Sonic 3 & Knuckles. The player collects golden rings, which serve as a form of health; players survive hits as long as they have at least one ring, but, if hit, their rings scatter and disappear after a short time. Television monitors containing rings, elemental shields, or power-ups such as invincibility and faster running speed are scattered throughout each level. Like Sonic 3 & Knuckles, the story is told via short in-game cutscenes between levels.

On 23 November, the striking workers held a protest march along Darlinghurst Road through Kings Cross to the El Alamein Fountain. A "shoving duel" between demonstrators and "heavies" took place as they passed the Pink Panther. The march was addressed by state Labor MP George Petersen, federal Building Workers' Industrial Union secretary Pat Clancy and the federal organiser of Actors Equity, N. Kirkpatrick. Clancy announced that he would request that the Australian Council of Trade Unions support the state black ban on the clubs, and Petersen told media that "it is incredible that these clubs are allowed to operate under conditions that are illegal".

Afterwards she worked on two more shows with Bally Sagoo for BBC and ITV before going on her first U.S. tour in 1997. Her U.S. tour covered 15 states and a few cities in Canada. The same year Kiani performed many other international events in the United Kingdom, Australia, and China. By the summer of 1997, Kiani was representing Pakistan as the only Pakistani singer to perform at "Celebration Hong Kong 97" at Happy Valley Race Course, alongside other International singers like Lisa Stansfield, Wet Wet Wet, Michael Learns to Rock, All 4 One and The Brand New Heavies, an event to celebrate Hong Kong's freedom from the United Kingdom.

Part of the battery was withdrawn but one section could not get its horse teams up under the heavy fire. The section commander, Lt N. Roberts, with some gunners manhandled some ammunition wagons to provide flank protection against the fire, and then got his teams up and 'snatched his two heavies from under the very noses of the enemy, a most gallant and courageous act'.Farndale, pp. 274–5. Fifth Army was reconstituted as Fourth Army at the beginning of April, and 21st (Mobile) Bde remained with it until the Armistice, through the later phases of the Spring Offensive and then the Allied Hundred Days Offensive (see above).

The first annual Austin Psych Fest was held on Saturday March 8, 2008 at The Red Barn in north Austin, featuring performances by The Black Angels and Ringo Deathstarr among others. In 2009, the festival was extended to three days and was held from March 13–15 at the Radio Room, a short lived venue on Sixth Street. The Seeds' Sky Saxon performed with Shapes Have Fangs as his backing band and Austin psychedelic legends The Golden Dawn performed their 1968 album "Power Plant" in its entirety. The lineup included modern psychedelic heavies Dead Meadow, A Place to Bury Strangers, Wooden Shjips, The Warlocks, and The Black Angels.

It appears that Uxbridge expected the brigades of Sir John Ormsby Vandeleur, Hussey Vivian and the Dutch cavalry to provide support to the British heavies. Uxbridge later regretted leading the charge in person, saying "I committed a great mistake", when he should have been organising an adequate reserve to move forward in support. Sergeant Ewart of the Scots Greys capturing the eagle of the 45ème Ligne in The Fight For The Standard by Richard Ansdell The Household Brigade crossed the crest of the Anglo-allied position and charged downhill. The cuirassiers guarding d'Erlon's left flank were still dispersed, and so were swept over the deeply sunken main road and then routed.

Brighton: The Truth about the Charge of the Light Brigade, 92–93 Scarlett gave the order 'Left wheel into line' which turned the two advanced regiments into line to face the enemy; these were shortly followed by the other two regiments forming a second line. Had the Russians charged at this moment they would have caught Scarlett's men completely disorganised, yet Ryzhov let the chance slip.Fletcher & Ishchenko: The Crimean War: A Clash of Empires, 171 Lucan, who had also seen the Russians, rode across with his staff from the Light Brigade to join the Heavies. So impatient was he to attack that he ordered his duty trumpeter, Trumpet Major Joy, to sound the charge – but nothing happened.

The Spanish Civil War also convinced Soviet war planners that the air force was most effective when used in close cooperation with ground forces. Nonetheless, after the war, Marshal Vasili Sokolovsky admitted that the Soviets would have gladly launched a strategic bombing offensive had they the capability. In reality, the Soviets never geared aircraft production towards long-range bombers, beyond the small force of indigenously designed and produced Petlyakov Pe-8 four-engined "heavies", and so never had enough to mount an effective campaign. The land-based nature of warfare on the Eastern Front also required closer cooperation between the air forces and ground troops than did, for example, the defence of Great Britain.

In some recreational groups, a form of archery known as combat archery is practiced, where several archers divided into "lights" and "heavies", namely those wearing armour or not, shoot at each other with cushion-tipped arrows from low-powered longbows, with a maximum draw-weight of . The rules of combat archery dictate that no archer may shoot at a light, however all may shoot at a heavy. Combat archery can be an interesting challenge for participants, as it involves shooting at moving targets, and can be used to re-create battles. In Australia, it is more common for 'lights' to wear enough protection that they can shoot at each other as well.

Acid jazz, also known as club jazz, is a music genre that combines elements of jazz, soul, funk, and disco. Acid jazz originated in clubs in London during the 1980s with the rare groove movement and spread to the United States, Japan, Eastern Europe, and Brazil. Acts included the Brand New Heavies, Incognito, Us3, and Jamiroquai from the UK and Buckshot LeFonque and Digable Planets from the U.S. The rise of electronic club music in the middle to late 1990s led to a decline in interest, and in the twenty-first century, the movement became indistinct as a genre. Many acts that might have been defined as acid jazz are seen as jazz-funk, neo soul, or jazz rap.

On 21 June 1992, Arista Records released in Japan a special CD maxi single "Real Woman Hip Selection" which included remixes and B-sides form the Real Love era. Arista used the same single cover art as for the "Time to Make You Mine" single. In 2003, "Time to Make You Mine" was included on Biography: The Greatest Hits. In 2014, the remixes of "Time to Make You Mine" were included on the deluxe 2CD + DVD re-release of Real Love and on People Hold On ... The Remix Anthology (also on The Collection 1989–2003), including the previously unreleased Bomb Squad Remix by The Bomb Squad and Sunship Mix by Ceri Evans formerly of the Brand New Heavies.

Most of the escorts turned back or missed the rendezvous, and as a result, 60 B-17s were destroyed. A third raid on Schweinfurt on 1944 highlighted what came to be known as "Big Week", during which the bombing missions were directed against German aircraft production. German fighters needed to respond, and the North American P-51 Mustang and Republic P-47 Thunderbolt fighters (equipped with improved drop tanks to extend their range) accompanying the American heavies all the way to and from the targets engaged them. The escort fighters reduced the loss rate to below 7%, with only 247 B-17s lost in 3,500 sorties while taking part in the Big Week raids.

He is a fan of soul, Motown, and jazz music, and presented an episode of BBC Two's The Culture Show in 2009 entitled "Martin Freeman Goes to Motown". He also selected music for a 2006 Motown compilation entitled Made to Measure, and worked on a jazz compilation with his friend Eddie Piller entitled Jazz on the Corner, which was released on Acid Jazz Records on 23 March 2018 and featured tracks by Kamasi Washington and The Brand New Heavies. The pair presented Craig Charles' Funk and Soul Show on 31 March 2018. In 2019, a follow-up album entitled Soul on the Corner was announced, featuring tracks by Leroy Hutson and Bobby Womack.

Simuloids are humanoid plant life constructs grown from alien spores; they are made of wood and capable of movement and mimicking human life, and are capable of speech and can be programmed as extensively as any hi-tech robot. There are two basic kinds of Simuloids: "Heavies" and "Replicas". Certain Plantman simuloids were programmed with Samuel Smithers' brain patterns to believe they were the original Plantman, thus it is not always clear whether any appearance of Plantman is the actual Plantman. In one instance, a simuloid gained independence to the point that it became a separate, sentient entity, re- christening itself Terraformer and becoming part of the ecological/elemental- themed supervillain team, the Force of Nature.

The long tradition of clashes with University (nicknamed 'The Red Heavies' or 'The Students') first began in senior competition on 8 June 1912, with Brothers running out victors 24 – 0. The tradition of hard, close fought games between these two clubs remains a feature of the Brisbane club scene and there have been many memorable tussles over the years, particularly in grand finals. The most famous being the 24-all draw in 1979 that resulted in a rematch where Brothers lost 16–13 in a tight match. The latest bragging rights are with University after a 31–26 win in the 2019 final, the last time the teams have met in a grand final.

The Swords were presented to him at the Führerhauptquartier at Rastenburg on 10/11 August 1943. In January 1944, Lent downed three so-called "heavies"—four-engined strategic bombers—in one night, but his aircraft was damaged by return fire, requiring a forced landing. He used only 22 cannon shells to down two bombers on the night of the 22–23 March 1944, and fired only 57 rounds in seven minutes against three Avro Lancasters on 15–16 June. Promoted to Oberstleutnant, he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds () in recognition of his 110 confirmed air kills, the first of two night-fighter pilots to be awarded the decoration.

61 Despite this difference, "a few bold souls have identified Black Sabbath's eponymous 1970 debut album as the first ever 'Goth-rock' record". The author Gavin Baddeley notes that the title track of the album "describes a satanic rite, complete with driving-rain and tolling bell sound effects, while the cover focuses on a black-cloaked, spectral-looking girl in a graveyard, shot through a sickly pale ochre filter". As a band, and as individuals, the New Mastersounds have collaborated with an array of musicians DJs and producers, including: Soul Rebels Brass Band, Lou Donaldson (Blue Note), Corinne Bailey Rae (EMI), Quantic (Tru Thoughts), Carleen Anderson (Young Disciples / Brand New Heavies), Keb Darge & Kenny Dope (Kay Dee Records), John Arnold (Ubiquity), Mr Scruff (Ninja Tuna), Snowboy (Ubiquity), Fred Everything (2020 Vision), Andy Smith (Portishead), James Taylor (JTQ), LSK (Faithless), and Karl Denson (Lenny Kravitz, Greyboy AllStars). In 2006, as well as playing club gigs in France, Spain, Belgium and Italy, the band toured the US and Japan. In August, they finished recording their fifth album, 102% (released on One Note Records in 2007).

Stringer has also made two guest appearances in the BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses, in the episodes Go West Young Man, he plays an Australian and in Who Wants to be a Millionaire, he plays Del's old business partner, Jumbo Mills, who developed an Australian accent. He is also noted for his strong performance alongside Trevor Byfield in the Minder episode 'The Old School Tie' from Series 2 in 1980 in which they play heavies in what is often claimed to be the most violent episode of the entire ten series. Nick also appeared in Super Gran as super villain Mad Mick Merseyside.(1985) Stringer lives in Bristol, England, and is married with two children.

The battery came under the command of 50th HAG on 16 November, in time for Third Army's great tank attack on 20 November (the Battle of Cambrai). 50th HAG was assigned to III Corps, which used its 'heavies' to support individual attacking divisions as well as for CB fire. Efficient flash spotting and sound ranging ensured 90 per cent accuracy of the CB fire, and the combination of tanks and artillery on III Corps' front overwhelmed the Hindenburg Line defences. However, getting the batteries forward to support follow-up attacks on succeeding days proved difficult, and the attacks fell short of a complete breakthrough.Becke, Pt 4, pp. 92–8.Farndale, pp. 221–30.

After simultaneously getting in way over his head with a criminal organisation (The Firm), Den torched Kathy's rapist's winebar in retaliation, and was then made to take the blame for the deed by the firm. After he refused, went on the run, and was nearly killed by the firm's heavies, Den turned himself into the police and was put on remand at Dickens Hill prison in September 1988. For the next five months he was seen, in the company of a small group of new but ultimately short-lived characters also confined in the prison, on a regular basis in EastEnders. This material was shot in less than a month at Dartmoor Prison, Devon.

Corden's obituary in the Tampa Bay Times noted, "With his deep voice, jet-black hair and ethnic looks, Corden was frequently tapped to play heavies in films and on television."[2] He can be seen in such live-action films as The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, The Black Castle, Abbott and Costello in the Foreign Legion and The Ten Commandments. He also appeared in dozens of TV shows, including Hogan's Heroes (in five episodes), Dragnet, Perry Mason, Peter Gunn, McHale's Navy (in five episodes), Gunsmoke, The Mary Tyler Moore Show and was a regular on The Jerry Lewis Show. Corden also played landlord Henry Babbitt on The Monkees and Mr. Haskell, the owner of an ice cream parlor, in an episode of The Brady Bunch.

There are numerous other facets to the controversy, but whatever the school of thought, all agree that the traditional strengths and weaponry of the heavy infantry legion declined from the standards of earlier eras. The 4th-century writer Vegetius, in one of the most influential Western military works De Re Militari, highlighted this decline as the key factor in military weakness, noting that the core legions always fought as part of an integrated team of cavalry and light foot. In the latter years, this formula that had brought so much success petered out. Caught between the growth of lighter armed/less organized foot soldiers, and the increasing cavalry formations of the mobile forces, the "heavies" as the dominant force, withered on the vine.

One look at Rodney P's discography illustrates a who's who of the UK music scene collaborating with fellow UK Hip Hop heavyweights, Skinnyman, Blak Twang, Roots Manuva and The Nextmen to name a few, as well as featuring on various soul and R&B; productions with artists such as Omar, Terri Walker and The Brand New Heavies and on Dance and Electro tracks with MJ Cole, Mercury Award-winning Roni Size, The Stanton Warriors, Timo Maas and French Hip Hop Reggae outfit L’Entourloop. More unusual affiliations with artists Bjork and Nitin Sawhey demonstrate Rodney P's role as a genre-defying emcee as well as reflecting his own diverse musical taste.

Miloco was formed out of the merging of three former London recording studios: Milo Music, The Garden and Orinoco Studios. Milo Music began in 1984 as a small studio in east London's Hoxton Square (the studio is commonly referred to as simply 'The Square'), which was used by the likes of Tricky, M People and The Brand New Heavies in the early years of its life. In the early nineties they took over another building nearby to The Square and used it to build seven programming suites for artists and producers to use for long-term periods. Today, Miloco still operate five of the seven rooms, and people filling them currently include pop producer Richard X and Swing Out Sister.

Working outside of the Extra Beat Boys, Bromfield, Olugbo and O'Reordan have produced and mixed tracks alongside producer/engineer Phil Harding. Among Bromfield's works with Harding are Climie Fisher's "Rise to the Occasion", Shooting Party's "I Go to Pieces", Rick and Lisa's "When You Gonna" and Shanice's "I'll Bet She's Got a Boyfriend". Bromfield, O'Reordan and Harding remixed Belouis Some's "Imagination" on the single release of "Some Girls" (the 'Can U Dig This Mix'). Olugbo has co-written/co-produced tracks for many artists; together with Harding, they mixed Jermaine Stewart's "Tren de Amor", then later on Olugbo worked on tracks such as the Brand New Heavies' "You Are the Universe", BoA's "I'm OK", Emma Bunton's "Breathing", Hear'Say's "Another Lover" and S Club's "Straight from the Heart".

Lee quickly rose to the ranks of leading lady and often starred opposite such matinee heavies as Conrad Nagel, Gloria Swanson, Wallace Reid, Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle, and Rudolph Valentino. Lee bore more than a slight resemblance to Ann Little, a former Paramount star and frequent Reid co-star who was leaving the film business and at this stage in her career an even stronger resemblance to Marguerite Clark. In 1922 Lee was cast as Carmen in the enormously popular film Blood and Sand, opposite matinee idol Rudolph Valentino and silent screen vamp Nita Naldi; Lee subsequently won the first WAMPAS Baby Stars award that year. Lee continued to be a highly popular leading lady throughout the 1920s and made scores of critically praised and widely watched films.

A turf war involving the Blue Angels and the Nomads – a club formed in Aberdeen in 1966 – started after the Blue Angels expanded into Aberdeenshire by patching over the Road Mutts and Tribe 21.

Only one of the Oboes worked, but that was enough for the following heavies to bomb on and hit a number of industrial buildings. Another mission by three Mosquitos attacked the German night-fighter control room at Florennes airfield in Belgium, but there was complete cloud cover and the results were not known. It was clear by this point, after less than six months, that the PFF concept was a great advance. Picked crews from the bomber groups were allowed to transfer and the PFF soon expanded into a completely new Group – designated No. 8 Group (PFF) – in January 1943. In April 1943 the group's strength was increased by two squadrons, with No. 405 (RCAF) Squadron, flying Halifaxes and No. 97 Squadron, flying Lancasters.

Grant has Joseph Barron question an informant and learns that the raid was apparently planned by the "69 Krew", a Scottish criminal syndicate. He therefore leads a team of heavies to target the Krew, but realizes too late that Barron has led him into a trap; the thugs from the Master's gang are all killed, while Grant is taken prisoner and tortured by the Master's accountant, Marianne Kyle. Barbara, seeking something constructive to do, goes to interview Jackson to determine whether he is the real thing, only to find that he has been murdered. Boucher is assigned to the case, and the Brigadier, unable to fill him on the full details for reasons of security, asks Barbara to help Boucher in case he should find something relevant.

For the next 3 days planes from the carriers provided close tactical support for the marines who wrested the atoll from the Japanese Emperor. The destroyer returned to Majuro Logoon on the 4th. The destroyer accompanied the task force on the first strike against Truk, the major Japanese naval base in the Central Pacific, 16 and 17 February. In this operation Mitscher’s ships and planes destroyed several enemy warships, some 200,000 tons of merchant shipping, and about 275 planes. Lewis Hancock departed the Hawaiian Islands 15 March for 5 months of action in the forward areas. After rejoining TG 58.2, she screened the heavies during a strike on the Palaus late in March and during the capture of Hollandia in April.

In Bari's words, it was as if the investigators were "waiting around the corner with their fingers in their ears." It was later revealed that there had been a tip to law enforcement, suspected to be from the person responsible for the bomb, that "some heavies" were carrying a bomb south for sabotage in the Santa Cruz area. The rapid response of the FBI to the bombing and their immediate focus on Bari as a suspect rather than a victim are consistent with surveillance of Bari after receiving a tip about a bomb. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) took jurisdiction of the case away from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, alleging it was an eco-terrorism case.

Since Switchfoot's first release in 1997, the band's sound has changed significantly. The style of the early albums with independent label Re:think Records consisted primarily of guitar- driven alternative rock, hard rock with characteristics of a three-man lineup, though they also incorporated string arrangements with slower songs. Switchfoot playing on July 4, 2005 in St. Louis, Missouri Switchfoot's frontman and guitarist Jon Foreman cites his musical influences as U2, The Beatles, and Keith Green, and has said that he admires the vocal "strength and vulnerability" of Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash. Guitarist Drew Shirley cites U2, Miles Davis, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Tommy Walker, Phil Keaggy, Michael Jackson, Dave Matthews Band, and the Brand New Heavies, while bassist Tim Foreman pays tribute to Stevie Wonder.

The Ummah was a music production collective, composed of members Q-Tip and Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest, and the late Jay Dee (also known as J Dilla) of the Detroit-based group Slum Village. Occasional members included Raphael Saadiq, and D'Angelo. In addition to producing nearly the entirety of A Tribe Called Quest's fourth and fifth albums, the Ummah provided backing tracks and remixes for a notable array of hip hop and contemporary R&B; artists, including Busta Rhymes, Whitney Houston, Keith Murray, the Brand New Heavies, Janet Jackson, and Jon B. The group was so named because two of its members (Tip and Ali) are devout Muslims. The word "ummah" is Arabic for "community", "nation", or "brotherhood".

The band is credited with influencing the musical genre of neo soul and achieving success in the 1980s with songs that featured a sophisti-pop style, incorporating elements of soul, pop, smooth jazz and quiet storm. The band was part of a new wave of British R&B-oriented; artists during the late-1980s and early-1990s that also included artists Soul II Soul, Caron Wheeler, The Brand New Heavies, Simply Red, Jamiroquai and Lisa Stansfield. AllMusic's Alex Henderson writes that, "Many of the British artists who emerged during that period had a neo-soul outlook and were able to blend influences from different eras". Following the coining of the term "quiet storm" by Smokey Robinson, Sade was credited for helping give the genre a worldwide audience.

Coco Star has collaborated with artists including Sub Love (Way out West) in 1993 (both writing and performing with DJ Die & Jody Wisternoff), Tricky, Massive Attack, Victor Imbres (Deep Dish engineer), Rob Davis from 1994–'97 (Kylie Minogue's songwriter), Craig David and the Dreem Teem (Timmi Magic and DJ Spoony), Artful Dodger, Brian Harvey (East 17), Fragma (on the remix of "I Need a Miracle" 2000 & 2008) and Photek under his moniker of 'Sentinel'. In 2011, Coco Star teamed up with MYNC and Christian Luke for collaborative works involving "I Need a Miracle". Coco Star is also associated with Andy Levy and Simon Bartholomew of the Brand New Heavies with whom she collaborated with during the production of some of her self written music.

They have also performed with many legendary live acts such as Chaka Kahn, The Wailers, The Brand New Heavies, and Pharcyde. A succession of 12-inch singles followed Might Do Something Wrong, including Alix Alvarez's mix of How's Your Life and the romantic dance-pop of Fall in Love. Billboard dance critic Michael Paoletta lauded the latter track by calling it "a sterling, soul-slammed house jam". Each of the singles impressed the bevy of the world's dance halls, allowing the band to tour heavily with appearances at clubs and festivals across the US. With 2006's Introducing Tortured Soul, the band was able to piece together their debut album using all their earlier singles while also incorporating a few new studio additions.

He was then transferred to the Army War College, from which he graduated in June 1935. Streett's next assignment was with the War Department General Staff where he served as a member of the Miscellaneous and Operations Section of the War Plans Division. He became a student at the Naval War College at Newport, Rhode Island, in June 1939, and in July 1940 reported to Hickam Field, Hawaii, for duty as commanding officer of the 11th Bombardment Group, where the group operated B-18 Bolo medium bombers. On December 1, the 11th was redesignated a heavy bombardment group, and Streett prepared them to receive B-17 Flying Fortress heavies, the first ones arriving in April 1941 with Lieutenant Colonel Albert Francis Hegenberger to command them.

CCLXXXII Brigade was rested from 4 to 24 July, then spent a short period with 1st Canadian Division before joining XVII Corps on 31 July, first with 56th (1/1st London) Division, then with 15th (Scottish) Division. First Army was not involved in the early phases of the Allied Hundred Days Offensive, which opened on 8 August, but on 24 August the brigade transferred to the Canadian Corps, which took over part of the army's front in preparation for the Battle of the Scarpe. The Canadians' attack frontage was , backed by 14 brigades of field artillery and nine of heavy artillery. The creeping barrage began before dawn on 26 August, with the 4.5-inch howitzers firing ahead of the 18-pdrs, and the heavies ahead.

Vernon was born Mario Lippert in Baden-Baden, Germany, to a Swiss father and an American mother, and was fluent in German, English and French. Originally a stage and radio actor, he worked primarily in France and became a well-known supporting actor after 1945 by playing villainous Nazi officers in French films. Jean- Pierre Melville's Le Silence de la mer, in which he played a gentle anti-Nazi German officer, made him somewhat famous, but, in part due to his looks and Swiss accent, he was subsequently relegated to playing gangsters and heavies. In the 1960s, he became a favorite actor of Spanish horror director Jesús Franco and began starring in many low-budget horror movies produced in Spain or in France, often portraying a mad doctor named "Dr. Orloff".

The Heavies were also hit—Lucan himself was slightly wounded, and his horse hit twice – but these men would have suffered more casualties had it not been for the charge of the 150 men of the Chasseurs d'Afrique.Brighton: The Truth about the Charge of the Light Brigade, 123 The French cavalry had formed up to the left of the British position. When they had seen the Light Brigade cut up, Major Abdelal led an attack up the Fedioukine Heights to charge the flank of the Russian battery, forcing them to drag away their guns. Yet it was now that Lucan – concluding that the Light Brigade would be wiped out before they reached the Russians at the end of the valley – ordered the Heavy Brigade to halt their advance and retire, leaving Cardigan's men without support.

The Monkees in the Spring of 1966, shortly after production for the first season had begun Rafelson and Schneider wanted the style of the series to reflect avant garde film techniques—such as improvisation, quick cuts, jump cuts, breaking the fourth wall, and free- flowing, loose narratives—then being pioneered by European film directors. Each episode would contain at least one musical "romp" which might have nothing to do with the storyline. In retrospect, these vignettes now look very much like music videos: short, self-contained films of songs whose style echoed the Beatles' recent ventures into promotional films for their singles. Rafelson and Schneider also believed strongly in the program's ability to appeal to young people, intentionally framing the kids as heroes and the adults as heavies.

In the early morning darkness of 17 February, Hunt arrived off Truk with the rest of the force which began the systematic destruction of the Japanese ships and planes caught in the area. A group of heavies—two battleships, two heavy cruisers, and four destroyers—circled the atoll to catch enemy ships attempting to escape, while carrier-based planes attacked targets on the islands and in the Lagoon. Hunt's role in the operation was to protect Admiral Albert E. Montgomery's carrier group from submarine or air attack. When her task force steamed away the following evening, its planes and ships had sunk two light cruisers, 4 destroyers, 3 auxiliary cruisers, 6 auxiliaries of different types, and 137,091 tons of merchant shipping.

Depicted as living off the proceeds of years of crime and living in a large mansion near Newcastle upon Tyne, Barry returned in full for Brookside's final episode in 2003 when it was revealed that he and Lindsay were to marry. At the end of the show's penultimate episode he had his heavies bundle Jimmy Corkhill into a car and drive him to his mansion, where he held a gun to blindfolded Jimmy's head and in a put on Brummy accent asked Jimmy if he could marry his daughter. After the situation had calmed, Jimmy went on to tell Barry about Jack Michaelson. Slightly concerned that a new gangster figure was again threatening the close and the Corkhills in particular, Barry agreed to go back to the close "for old time's sake".

Pee Wee Ellis, Jazzanova, Ron Carter Golden Striker Trio ft. Russel Malone, Nouvelle Vague, Marius Neset, Joe Bowie, Roy Hargrove, De Phazz, The Brand New Heavies, Georgie Fame, Terje Rypdal, Manu Dibango, Yehia Khalil etc. Stjepko Gut used the name of the festival – Nišville as the title of one of his songs and the whole album was published in the USA (with a big band whose leader was legendary drummer Alvin Queen) during the nineties of the previous century. Furthermore, in 2008, Duško Gojković dedicated to the festival the score “Nišville Jubilation”, which was first performed at Nišville in 2008. These two artists are highly renowned in the world – and are among the winners of the “Nišville Lifetime Achievement Award”, which the festival awards each year to important jazz musicians from Serbia.

Neil Barnes' music career started off as a DJ at The Wag Club while simultaneously playing percussion on a session basis. In 1986, he joined the London School of Samba and played in the bateria in the 1986 Notting Hill Carnival. Around 1989, inspired by Afrika Bambaataa, Barnes decided to try his hand at electronic music production, the results of which were the tracks "Not Forgotten" and "More Than I Know", released on the Rhythm King label. For the remixes of these tracks, Barnes called upon Paul Daley, percussion player with A Man Called Adam and formerly a session musician for the Brand New Heavies and Primal Scream, appearing on their Dixie-Narco EP. Barnes and Daley had previously worked together as percussionists at The Sandals first club, Violets.

He trained at the Actors' Lab in Los Angeles and then moved to New York City, where he first worked Off Broadway, subsequently appearing with Rod Steiger on Broadway in a revival of Clifford Odets's Night Music (a credit that is often misrepresented as A Little Night Music because of the similarity of the titles and the fact that the Sondheim musical featured an actor named Mark Lambert). Lambert's husky dark looks suited his frequent screen portrayals of gangsters and other heavies. In addition, he often appeared as authority figures such as executives, judges, and police officers. Among his major films were Spartacus (his movie debut), Planet of the Apes (in a brief role as a simian minister), and All the President's Men, in which he played the national editor of The Washington Post.

On 21 May 1917 174th Siege Bty was transferred to 45th HAG with Second Army in the Ypres Salient. Second Army had assembled 2266 guns and howitzers, including 316 6-inch howitzers, for the Battle of Messines. Although this attack was characterised by the surprise explosion of 19 huge mines under the German lines at Zero hour, it was preceded by days of preliminary bombardment aimed at destroying strongpoints and the opposing artillery hidden behind the Messines–Wytschaete ridge. This began on 21 May, with the assistance of Royal Flying Corps observation aircraft, and continued until 02.40 on 7 June, when the guns fell silent. Then at 03.10 the mines were exploded and the assault went in with massive artillery support, the heavies accurately hitting the remaining strongpoints and deluging the remaining German gunsites with gas shell.

General Doolittle's operation order of 7 September 1943 was: Intentions for September eight heavies will destroy town of Frascati - This target is important and must be destroyed. The aircraft headed for Littoria (modern Latina) and Monte Cavo (Alban Hills); they arrived over Frascati at 12:10. Their target was Field Marshal Albert Kesselring and his staff. The anti-aircraft defence was equipped with heavy anti-aircraft guns of 88/56 mm and light guns of 37 mm and 20 mm, which they had placed on Tuscolo ridge and terraces in the town reinforced with cement pillars to stand the recoils. The Italian Royal Air Force (Regia Aeronautica) engaged with about 30 aircraft fighters, some obsolete biplane Fiat CR.42s, some Macchi C.200s, Fiat G.50s, Reggiane Re.2001s, Macchi C.202s and two Fiat G.55s.

The third and lowest priority (from the AAF viewpoint) mission was "close air support" or direct assistance to ground units on the battlefront which consisted of bombing targets identified by ground forces, and strafing exposed infantry.Ian Gooderson, Air Power at the Battlefront: Allied Close Air Support in Europe 1943–45 (1998) Airmen disliked the mission because it subordinated the air war to the ground war; furthermore, slit trenches, camouflage, and flak guns usually reduced the effectiveness of close air support. "Operation Cobra" in July, 1944, targeted a critical strip of of German strength that held up the US breakthrough out of Normandy.Steven J. Zaloga, Operation Cobra 1944: Breakout from Normandy (2001) General Omar Bradley, his ground forces stymied, placed his bets on air power. 1,500 heavies, 380 medium bombers and 550 fighter bombers dropped 4,000 tons of high explosives.

The tunes the group put together became their successful debut album, My Afro's On Fire (Gee Street, 1990), an album that was dedicated to Bello B's late brother, Bentil Bello. Tours with Arrested Development and the Brand New Heavies followed, as the group went through their first change of name, releasing the single 'Party Time' and 'Good Vibrations' both featuring Singer and Songwriter Alison Evelyn (Gee Street, 1992) as Outlaw. The name didn't last until the end of the year, and by the release of their final album the name had changed again to Brothers Like Outlaw. The album was well received amongst the fans and the music press, but the dissatisfaction with their name echoed the group's growing dissatisfaction with each other - their final album's title The Oneness of Two Minds In Unison (Gee Street, 1992) clearly intended to be ironic.

Her legacy as an artist began also with her involvement in the burgeoning Los Angeles underground club and rave scene in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Working simultaneously as a dance artist and recording and commercial studio session singer, Davenport was soon connected with Fab Five Freddy, who recommended her to a DJ friend at new upstart label Delicious Vinyl. Eurythmics member and producer Dave Stewart offered Davenport a recording contract a year prior when introduced through a collaboration with Bootsy Collins and Malcolm McLaren, where she was featured on McLaren's Waltz Darling LP. She declined Stewart’s offer at the time due to his requirement for her to relocate to London, England. Later to ink a solo development deal with Delicious Vinyl, who made introductions to her future bandmates, The Brand New Heavies who at the time had no singer.

As Lucan advanced after them with the Heavy Brigade, he saw the Light Brigade being overwhelmed by the Russian artillery and ordered the Heavies back, saying that "They have sacrificed the Light Brigade; they shall not the Heavy, if I can help it". Lucan's subsequent explanation was that he saw no point in having a second brigade mown down, and he was best positioned where he was to render assistance to Light Brigade survivors returning from the charge. The French light cavalry, the Chasseurs d'Afrique, was more effective in that it cleared the Fedyukhin Heights of the two half batteries of guns, two infantry battalions, and Cossacks to ensure the Light Brigade would not be hit by fire from that flank, and it later provided cover for the remaining elements of the Light Brigade as they withdrew.

Yates studied music at Salford University before moving to London to study jazz at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He lived and worked in London for eight years, playing jazz with National Youth Jazz Orchestra, Peter King, Don Weller, Denys Baptiste, Jazz Jamaica All Stars, Alex Wilson, Clark Tracey, Gary Crosby's Nu Troop and the Caroline Taylor Quintet. During this time Yates also worked as session musician for Brand New Heavies, Supergrass, Black Grape, Lighthouse Family, Alison Moyet, Will Young, Raw Stylus, Suggs, Matt Bianco, Robbie Williams and Rhian Benson. Yates then chose to spend a year living in a small caravan travelling round the folk music festivals of Britain and Ireland, learning and playing traditional Celtic music, before moving out to the coast of North Wales coast to play and write, and to study Celtic music.

14 German airmen were captured, 17 killed, one injured and five missing.Mackay 2011, pp. 187–192. In contrast, the "Big Week" campaign's RAF contribution sent some 700 bombers to Schweinfurt on the same night as the Luftwaffe's Westminster-area raid, while the final American large strategic daytime raid of "Big Week" occurred on the 25th, with some 700 four-engined American "heavies" hitting daylight targets in Germany. There would be no attack for several days, after the American daytime and RAF nocturnal attacks of the Allies' "Big Week" campaign, but Steinbock suffered a blow on 29 February when Gruppenkommandeur, I./KG 66, Major Helmut Fuhrhop was shot down and killed by RAF Hawker Typhoons from No. 609 Squadron RAF while on a transfer flight from Paris to Dreux in Ju 188 3E+KH, belonging to 1 staffel.

It is alleged that Krahe became a criminal for hire after leaving the police force. Investigative journalists David Hickie and Tony Reeves name Krahe as the ringleader/organiser of a gang of "heavies" employed by developer Frank Theeman, who intimidated residents and assaulted protestors during the campaign against Theeman's high-rise development in Victoria Street, Kings Cross in the early 1970s. In that context, there have been repeated allegations that he was involved in the 1975 disappearance and presumed murder of anti-development campaigner Juanita Nielsen. There have also been allegations that Krahe was involved in the disappearance and presumed murder of Griffith, New South Wales anti-drugs campaigner Donald Mackay, in 1977,Patrick Bellamy: "The Rise and Fall of Drugs Lord Robert Trimbole" although the allegation about the Mackay killing was made by notorious Melbourne criminal James Frederick Bazley.

Dave Morales, Tony Humphries, the Brand New Heavies and Jamiroquai got signed after doing spots at the club. During the summer of 1992 he opened venues in Ibiza under the Milk Bar banner which ran for a couple of seasons, but later went bankrupt and had to attend rehabilitation. Pete Tong, Paul Oakenfold, Lynn Cosgrove and Lincoln Cheng a club owner of Zouk (club) in Singapore all chipped in to get him into the Charter Nightingale rehab clinic and for seven years he remained sober. Since cleaning his life up in 1998 Nicky has continued to produce music and is widely known as one of the first DJs in the UK to go digital, many of his Peers mocked him for this, however they soon realised the benefits outweighed the downside and within a few years where doing the same.

Rich Gang was met with mixed reviews from music critics. After they left school they formed various bands, playing under names such as Stepping Stoned, Decade and Suburban Surfers (where they signed to manager Tom Watkins). After a brief 9 months Tom, they left him and found a new manager in Tony Gordon, who had masterminded the careers of Culture Club and Curiosity Killed the Cat. They eventually called themselves Ultra (named after the Depeche Mode album), and the following year Nick Keynes joined as bass player after being introduced by mutual friend Neil Cowley, who at the time was the keyboard player for the Brand New Heavies, and more recently performed piano on Adele's 20 million selling album 21.

The label's first signing was singer-songwriter Rob Gallagher's band, Galliano, which released the label's first single "Frederick Lies Still" in 1987, which features a sample of "Freddie's Dead" by Curtis Mayfield. Few guns had fire-control systems, and the underpowered searchlights were usually ineffective against aircraft at altitudes above .Hooton 1997, p. 33.Richards 1954, p. 201. Upon moving to California, Bartell became a favorite of producer/director Norman MacDonnell, performing frequently on Escape (notably as Ronald Dawson in The Second Class Passenger and Peyton Farquar in Ambrose Bierce's An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge), and was a leading member of the Gunsmoke repertory company. Bartell was with the latter series from the first broadcast on April 26, 1952 until the last show on June 18, 1961; his roles ranged from friendly townspeople to victims to heavies, from the occasional role of Dodge City printer Mr. Hightower to famed gunslinger Doc Holliday in a 1952 episode. With fellow actor Vic Perrin, he also co-wrote two episodes near the end of the radio run, and appeared many times on the TV version of Gunsmoke, sometimes reprising his radio roles. Bartell worked on other radio Westerns such as The Six Shooter, Frontier Gentleman, Have Gun Will Travel, and Fort Laramie (a regular as Lt. Seiberts).

Edmonds, 1918, Vol IV, pp. 404–7. At the Second Battle of Cambrai (8–10 October 1918), XVII Corps was tasked with encircling the town of Cambrai on the south and compelling its evacuation. The heavies began a harassing bombardment on 6 October and continued this intermittently until Zero hour, 04.30 on 8 October. Despite German counter-attacks, the operation was successful.Edmonds & Maxwell-Hyslop, pp. 208–9. On 12 October, XVII Corps was pursuing the Germans towards the River Selle. Patrols found the villages of Haussy, Montrécourt and Saulzoir along the river were still strongly held, so an attack by 8th Battalion Queen's Royal Regiment (West Surrey) was quickly arranged for 18.30 that evening. While the infantry advanced behind a field artillery barrage, 62nd Bde shelled the three villages for 50 minutes. In the end, 30 different musicians were featured on the album, among them Brand New Heavies frontwoman N'Dea Davenport (with whom she duets on the song "Break Your Heart"), trumpet player Chris Botti, and the husband and wife duo, Don and Karen Peris from the band The Innocence Mission. While Ophelia is not a concept record in the traditional sense, the name of the album and the title track are a literary reference to Shakespeare's Ophelia. In the play Hamlet, Ophelia becomes mad and eventually commits suicide when Hamlet remains noncommittal and lost in himself. Merchant's Ophelia describes a series of women throughout time—women who dared question the patriarchal status quo and who were often castigated for doing so—and is a cry for women's rights and for more understanding of female archetypes beyond the scope of the "mother" and the "whore", both of which severely limit women and attempt to turn them into little more than chattel.

The German fighters were becoming more heavily armed to deal with the American "heavies": the USAAF's adoption of the combat box formations placed a score or more of bombers together for mutual defense, with dozens of heavy .50 calibre (12.7mm) Browning M2 machine guns — up to 13 per aircraft — aimed outwards from the formations in almost every conceivable direction. Some German fighters were fitted with heavy armament upgrades which were devastating to USAAF bombers' like the even larger calibre Bordkanone series of over-30mm calibre autoloading guns as just one way to attack from beyond the range of massed Brownings in the American bombers. Bf 110s, Dornier Do 217s and Ju 88s also joined in, firing both 20 mm and 30 mm autocannon, the 37mm and 50mm Bordkanone guns and unguided air-to-air rockets such as the BR 21, usable by both single and twin-engined defenders: BR 21 usage was initiated by day fighter wings JG 1 and JG 11 in the spring of 1943, and the Zerstörer wings ZG 26 and ZG 76 by the autumn of 1943.

77th Fighter Squadron P-38 (LC-C) at RAF Kings Cliffe, England during World War II. From 1930 until 1943, the squadron moved back and forth across the country with the 20th Group, flying several different aircraft, including the Boeing P-26 Peashooter, Curtiss P-36 Hawk, Lockheed P-38 Lightning, Bell P-39 Airacobra and the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk. In January 1943, the 77th settled at March Field, California, in time to be reassigned to England and the European Theater of Operations during World War II. The 77th, now designated a fighter squadron, arrived at RAF Kings Cliffe, Northamptonshire, England, in August 1943, flying the P-38. The 77th entered combat operations in November 1943, flying combat missions until 25 April 1945, when, armed with P-51 Mustangs, they began escorting "heavies" to Pilzen, Czechoslovakia, in one of the last raids of the war. The 77th was instrumental in the 20th Group achieving its kill record of 432 enemy aircraft, 400 locomotives, 1,555 freight cars, 94 ammunition cars and 536 motor vehicles destroyed.

Michael Creighton Balfour (11 February 1918 – 24 October 1997) was an English actor, working mainly in British films and TV, following his TV debut in the BBC's The Marvellous History of St Bernard, in 1938. He was a recognisable face, often in small character parts and supporting roles, in nearly two hundred films and TV shows, from the 1940s to the 1990s, often playing comical heavies or otherwise shady characters notable for their "loud" clothes, sometimes convincingly cast as an American. He worked for a roll call of film directors, including Tony Richardson, Pete Walker, Billy Wilder, Lewis Gilbert, Roman Polanski, Leslie Norman, Tim Burton, John Frankenheimer, François Truffaut, John Gilling, Stanley Donen, Ken Annakin, Cavalcanti, Lance Comfort, Terence Young, Gerald Thomas, Pasolini, John Paddy Carstairs, Terence Fisher, Val Guest, Frank Launder, John Huston, Basil Dearden and Howard Hawks. Balfour had parts in many popular TV shows of the era including Educated Evans, Danger Man, The Avengers, Hancock's Half Hour, Dixon of Dock Green, Rogue's Gallery, Z-Cars, The Onedin Line, and the detective drama The Vise, playing Saber's assistant Barney O'Keefe.

Mosquitos of No. 100 Group RAF acted as night intruders operating at high level in support of the Bomber Command "heavies", to counter the enemy tactic of merging into the bomber stream, which, towards the end of 1943, was causing serious allied losses.Harris 1993, p. 126. These RCM (radio countermeasures) aircraft were fitted with a device called "Serrate" to allow them to track down German night fighters from their Lichtenstein B/C (low-UHF-band) and Lichtenstein SN-2 (lower end of the VHF FM broadcast band) radar emissions, as well as a device named "Perfectos" that tracked German IFF signals. These methods were responsible for the destruction of 257 German aircraft from December 1943 to April 1945. Mosquito fighters from all units accounted for 487 German aircraft during the war, the vast majority of which were night fighters.Boiten 1997, pp. 188–189. One Mosquito is listed as belonging to German secret operations unit Kampfgeschwader 200, which tested, evaluated and sometimes clandestinely operated captured enemy aircraft during the war.

On their website, the publishers explained: 'Whilst maintaining a commitment to original ideas of Lagan Press i.e. promoting works of literary, artistic, social and cultural importance ... we will no longer pursue this aim through physical print publishing.' One of Leitch’s most compelling narratives, the novel was 'physically published' but almost immediately warehoused when the publisher abandoned print. It is set in the west England city of Bristol, not Belfast, but the city’s famous beauty spots are shaded by ominous shadows of a Northern Ireland that the main character, Walker, has fled. Genovese was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri to an Italian American family. Genovese earned a master's degree in drama at Eastern Illinois University and taught acting at Webster College from 1969 to 1973 before devoting himself to work as actor in Washington, D.C., where he met his future wife, TV/film actress Ellen Crawford, Chicago, and later Los Angeles. A character actor known for playing heavies, Genovese has appeared in many films such as two Richard Pryor billed vehicles, Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life Is Calling (1986) and Harlem Nights, which also co-starred Eddie Murphy, Redd Foxx and Della Reese, and guest roles on TV series such as The Dukes of Hazzard, The Paper Chase,The Paper Chase, Season 2, Episode 11: "Burden of Proof" (YouTube) Star Trek: The Next Generation, Family Matters, NYPD Blue, Quantum Leap, Arli$$, ER, Chicago Hope, and JAG, just to mention a few. In 1990 he was a cast member in the short lived series “The Flash” where he played Lt. Warren Garfield.

Founder Bobdog Catlin would eventually go on to found (with Scott Womak and Harlan Glenn) Juggernaut, and has performed on shows and recordings with numerous bands since then, including Pigface, and San Antonio experimental music outfit Pseudo Buddha. A prominent figure in the San Antonio retail music business, he has most recently teamed up with original co-founder of S.A. Slayer, Art Villarreal, to form Martyrhead, a band focusing solely on covers of the 1970s and 1980s releases of Motörhead. McClain would move to California where he joined a succession of bands, including Turbin, featuring former Anthrax vocalist Neil Turbin, Detente offshoot Catalepsy, Murdercar (featured on Metal Massacre X), the latter featuring guitarist Ross Robinson of future Korn, Slipknot, and Limp Bizkit production fame, and Ministers of Anger (featured on Metal Massacre XI), before moving on to Arizona thrashers Sacred Reich, and eventually Bay Area heavies Machine Head. Guitarist Ron Jarzombek went on to record with his brother/drummer Bobby Jarzombek under the name Happy Kitties, before joining Austin, Texas progressive thrash metal trailblazers Watchtower in late 1986, following the departure of original guitarist Billy White.
