Crataegus erythropoda is a hawthorn native to the southern Rocky Mountains in the United States. The leaves are conspicuously shiny above and fruit ("haws") are dark purplish red. It is seldom cultivated, but at one time was listed in the nursery trade under the common name "Chocolate Haw".Andrews, D.M. 1923.

Weathercote Cave is formed in Lower Carboniferous limestone, and is part of the underground watercourse of Winterscales Beck. Winterscales Beck sinks at Haws Gill Wheel, about upstream of Weathercote Cave, and flows through a shallow and largely flooded cave system. When the river reached a major cross joint at Weathercote, it descended to base level. The roof has since collapsed to form the surface shaft.

Pipewell Woods is an 85.3 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south-west of Corby in Northamptonshire. It is composed of Pipewell Wood itself, Little Haws Wood, Foxhole Wood, Barrowdykes Wood, Monk's Arbour Wood and Rawhaw Wood. It is a Nature Conservation Review site, Grade 2. Bowmanstead is a village in Cumbria, England. It is situated 1 mile to the south of Coniston and contains a Catholic church and a pub - The Ship Inn, it is located next to Haws Bank. The High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) is a training and research establishment of the Indian Army. In 1948, Indian Army established a ski school in Gulmarg which later became the High Altitude Warfare School of the Indian army specialising in snow–craft and winter warfare. It is located in an area which is prone to avalanches. It is one of the most famous warfare academies of the world.

Fields married Sarah "Sallie" Haws Baker on November 28, 1892, with whom he had two children. Their son died in infancy, but their daughter, Inez C. Fields, became the second Black woman admitted to the Massachusetts Bar and worked for William H. Lewis. She was the third Black woman admitted to the Virginia State Bar and worked for her father's practice. They were possibly the first Black father-daughter team to practice law in Virginia.

Born in the southwestern Minnesota town of Tracy, Haws graduated from Loyola High School in Mankato, then went on to St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, receiving his B.E.S. in Recreation and Biology. Mould Bay Weather Station, now abandoned Map including Prince Patrick Island A High Arctic Weather Station ("HAWS") and associated airstrip called Mould Bay were opened in 1948 as part of a joint Canada-US military effort to support a weather station network. Regular weather observations began on May 14, 1948. It had a temporary staff of between 10 and 40 people. K-145 began at US-83 and US-160 and began travelling east. It then passed to the north of a small group of houses, and after 1 it intersected County Road NN. From here, it continued east as it entered Sublette and became Haws Avenue. It continued through the city until it reached North Inman Street, where it turned south. It started south along North Inman Street through a residential neighborhood, then reached its eastern terminus at US-56.

There are numerous natural and managed public parks and open spaces within Barrow. Walney North and South Nature Reserves are protected as Sites of Special Scientific Interest, as is Sandscale Haws. Walney Island has two world-renowned nature reserves (the 130 hectare (0.5 sq mi) South Walney Nature Reserve and the 650 hectare (2.5 sq mi) North Walney Nature Reserve). Haws and crab-apples are the original food source of the flies, but they have moved to feeding on mainly apples, though they have been found feeding on other cultivated fruits. Male and female flies feed constantly from the surface of their food source, primarily apples. The fly extends its proboscis and drops saliva onto the skin of the apple, and the saliva is used as a solvent for substances on the apple. If drier substances are present, the fly dissolves them before sucking up fluid.

The shoots sprouted from haws which had fallen from the parent tree, and the strongest of these was chosen. This shoot flourished, but because it was so near the roadway, many people, instead of cutting sprigs from it, broke pieces off. This was gradually killing the tree and Coylton Burns Club finally decided that if the thorn was to be preserved it would require to be moved farther from the roadway and ring-fenced. The birth of High Altitude Warfare School(HAWS) of Indian Army in 1948 can be directly attributed to the loss of Gilgit-Baltistan in the Siege of Skardu to Pakistan in 1947-1948 Indo-Pak war. The school was established in December 1948 by General K S Thimayya, then holding the rank of Brigadier. It was initially known as the 19 Infantry Division Ski School. During the winter of 1949–50, the school was redesignated as a Command Establishment and renamed as the Winter Warfare School.

Officer recruitment is through many military-related academies. Besides the tri-service National Defence Academy, Pune, the three services have their own training institutes for this purpose. These include: the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Air Force Academy, Hyderabad, Officers Training Academy at Chennai and Gaya. Other notable institutions are the Army War College, at Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, the High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS), at Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir, the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School (CIJW), in Vairengte, Mizoram, and the College of Military Engineering (CME), in Pune.

This leads to a carpark at an altitude of , a popular starting point for climbs. Beyond here motor vehicles are prohibited, but the track continues to its summit at , crossing the ridge to the south of Dow Crag. Coniston Old Man has no connecting ridges other than that to Brim Fell, but a discernible rib falls due east via Stubthwaite Crag and Crowberry Haws. Below the tourist route path, this rib climbs again to The Bell, a fine rocky top (1,099 ft) with excellent views of the lake and village.

Boon Tuan was born on July 18, 1865 in the village of Bang-Pa, Ratchaburi province, Thailand. After the death of his father, Boon Tuan's family moved to Bangkok, where Boon Tuan and his brother Boon Yee were enrolled at the Christian school at Samray. At eleven years old, Boon Tuan was taken to the United States by the pioneer medical missionary Dr Samuel Reynolds HouseFeltus, George Haws, Samuel Reynolds House of Siam: Pioneer Medical Missionary 1847-1876, Revell, 1924 and his wife. After leading his team to a regular-season conference championship, he was named WAC Player of the Year. Carroll completed his career at Utah State with a loss to Illinois State in the first round of the NIT. He scored a total 2,507 career points, falling 35 short of breaking the record, at the time held by Keith Van Horn, for all-time leading college basketball scorer in the state of Utah. That Utah state record is now 2,720 career points, currently held by Tyler Haws of BYU.

SR-102 was originally designated in 1931 as the road from Deweyville to Haws Corner. In 1969, the route was extended westward through Tremonton to SR-83 east of Lampo Junction (this stretch of road was formerly part of SR-3). Signage used from 1966 to 1977 on SR-30 In 1966, the counties in northern Utah requested that the State Road Commission designate a single route number to run east-west across that part of the state. This route overlapped SR-102 between Deweyville and I-84.

Among other community services, Haws was a member of the Citizen Advisory Committee on Finance for School District 742, a board member of the Minnesota-North Dakota Alzheimer's Association, a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, a member of the Veterans Affairs Housing Project, a board member of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, and a board member of the Saint Cloud Kiwanis. He was also involved in the restoration of Bard Park, the oldest park in St. Cloud, and served on the Bard Park Historical Preservation Committee.

On 5 September 1935 Doric collided with the French vessel Formigny, of the Chargeurs Reunis line, off Cape Finisterre. Following this collision Doric had emergency repairs at Vigo, Spain. Following the spread of the Bloodhound from Britain in the 19th and 20th centuries, imports and exports and, increasingly, artificial insemination, are maintaining the world population as a common breeding stock, without a great deal of divergence in type in different countries. The reason for this was to determine why an Injunction Order was not granted pursuant to the claim and demand of the said complaint. Haws returned to a BYU team that had left the Mountain West for the West Coast Conference (WCC) in 2011. In his first season back from the mission field in 2012–13 as team captain, he scored 20 or more points in his first six games, and was the WCC's leading scorer that season, both overall and in conference games. He is only the second BYU sophomore to have scored 1,000 or more career points, after Danny Ainge. He was named WCC Player of the Week, SI.com and NBCSports.com National Player of the Week on December 31, 2012 after scoring 42 points against Virginia Tech.

At the season's end, Haws earned Honorable Mention All-American honors by the Associated Press, as well as West Coast Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year, All-WCC Team, WCC All-Tournament Team, USBWA All-District VIII First Team and NABC All-District 9 First Team honors. He received Bronze Honors on the WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll for the second straight year, and was named the Co-Male Athlete of the Year and received the Floyd Johnson Service Award at the 2014 Y Awards. For the season, he averaged 23.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals and shot .463 from the field, .

Even the haws, being "burhs" or strongholds within a stronghold, enjoyed a local "peace" which protected from official intrusion. Besides heterogeneity of tenure and jurisdiction in the borough, there was also heterogeneity of status; there were burh-thegns and cnihts, mercatores, burgesses of various kinds, the three groups representing perhaps military, commercial and agricultural elements. The burh generally shows signs of having been originally a village settlement, surrounded by open fields, of which the borough boundary before 1835 will suggest the outline.

The east Kishtwar range of Brahma massif was first assessed by an Australian team in 1939. The eastern approaches of this Peak were explored by Fritz Kolb and his friends, the two Austrian mountaineers in 1947, from its base at Machail and climbed two small peeks. After a period of closure, the area was again open to foreigners in the early seventies, and there was a rush to climb the obvious plums in the western region. In 1973 British mountaineers Nick Escourt and Chris Bonington made an ascent of Brammah I (6416 m) and two years later in 1975 a team of Indian High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) led by Lt. Col.

In January 1841, Smith received a revelation with instructions to construct a house in Nauvoo which would be "a resting-place for the weary traveler". The revelation also instructed that the building should be called the Nauvoo House, and set out detailed instructions about how the building of the house would be financed.Doctrine and Covenants 124:56–83. George Miller, Lyman Wight, John Snider, and Peter Haws were appointed as the overseers of the project, and they created the Nauvoo House Association on 23 February 1841. Construction of the Nauvoo House began later in 1841, with Smith placing the original manuscript of the Book of Mormon in the cornerstone of the building.

Pre-commission training of Gentlemen Cadets is carried out at the Indian Military Academy at Dehradun and the Officers Training Academy at Chennai. There are also specialised training institutions such as the Army War College, at Mhow, Madhya Pradesh; the High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS), at Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir; the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School (CIJW), in Vairengte, Mizoram; and the College of Military Engineering (CME), in Pune. The Army Training Command (ARTRAC), at Shimla, surpervises training of personnel. In 2020 a 'Tour of Duty' scheme was proposed for voluntary recruitment into the forces for civilians, to enable them to join for a period of three years of short service.

She was pregnant at the time of her death. Everyone knows everyone in Floral Beach, and Kinsey acquaints herself with a number of the locals in pursuit of the truth: Pearl, the local bar-owner, whose son's evidence put Bailey on the spot at the time of Jean's death; Tap Granger, who was Bailey's accomplice in several robberies before the murder; the local pastor, Reverend Haws, and his wife; and Dr. Dunne, whose wife Elva has a violent objection to being questioned. The high school principal at the time of the murder, Dwight Shales, offers some help. Through the years, Haws was active in his local community and in local government. He was elected to the Stearns County Board of Commissioners in 1998, serving from 1999 until 2006, when he was elected to the House. He was a delegate to the Association of Minnesota Counties, a Stearns County liaison to the NorthStar Corridor light rail project, a board member of Stearns County Human Services, and a board member of the Central Minnesota Mental Health Center and Foundation. He was a member of the Central Minnesota Council on Aging, a member of the Task Force for Regional Human Rights Committee of the Great River Interfaith Partnership, and a member of the Stearns County Historical Society.

Weekly forced marches with combat loads with distances over to and quarterly night drops with full combat loads are also conducted. In addition to this in- house training, the commandos also attend a number of schools run by the Army that specialise in terrain and environmental warfare. These include the Junior Leaders' Commando Training Camp in Belgaum, Karnataka, the Parvat Ghatak School (for high altitude mountain warfare) in Tawang Arunachal Pradesh, the desert warfare school in Rajasthan, the High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) in Sonamarg, Kashmir, the Counterinsurgency and Jungle Warfare School (CIJWS) in Vairengte, Mizoram, and the Indian special forces training school in Nahan, Himachal Pradesh. These schools are among the finest of their kind anywhere, and routinely host students from other countries.

Pakxan was founded in the late-19th century. The Pakxan region had experienced insecurity since the invasion by Annam in 1834, followed by invasions by the Siamese, and Siamese sovereignty over Laos in 1836, and especially after 1865 with the invasions of Haws or "red flags", gangs from southern China. In his junior year, Haws helped lead the Cougars to a 23-12 record, finishing as runner-up in the WCC Tournament and going out in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. He was named WCC Player of the Week on January 13, 2014 for averaging 33.0 points in wins over Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine. Ten days later, he scored a career high 48 points against Portland for third all-time in BYU history and tied for the most in the NCAA in 2013–14; he also set career highs in field goals made and attempted and three-point field goals attempted. He went on to be named WCC Player of the Week again on February 1, 2014 for averaging 35.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game in wins over Pacific and Saint Mary's.

BYU football has had seven inductees into the college football hall of fame, one Heisman winner, and was awarded the National Championship in 1984. BYU has had several standout basketball players including Jimmer Fredette, who in 2011 was named the NCAA basketball player of the year, and Danny Ainge who won the John R. Wooden Award in 1981. Krešimir Ćosić and Stan Watts were both inducted into then the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.List of players in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame More recently, Tyler Haws, as part of the 2014–15 season, was a finalist for the Jerry West Award and scored the most points in the nation; and Kyle Collinsworth, set the NCAA single-season record for triple-doubles with six (in both the 2014–15 and 2015–16 seasons) and holds the NCAA men's career triple-double record of 12.

In the 1930s, as part of the extensive electrification project that brought New York–Washington and Harrisburg–Philadelphia intercity passenger and through-freight service under wire, the Schuylkill Branch was electrified from its 52nd Street Junction in Philadelphia to Haws Avenue in Norristown. With the surge in automobile sales and construction of extensions of the Pennsylvania Turnpike and the Interstate Highway System in Pennsylvania in the 1950s, the PRR eliminated commuter rail service in 1960 north of Manayunk, yielding Philadelphia, Norristown, and Reading commuter and through-passenger service to the rival Reading. With the bankruptcies of the PRR's successor Penn Central and the Reading Company, the creation of Conrail in 1976 led to the closure and abandonment of the Schuylkill Valley Branch north of Manayunk. SEPTA, which took over the rail line in 1983, operated the former Conrail service as its Cynwyd Line rail service until 1986, when spalling conditions on the Manayunk Bridge concrete viaduct connecting the line between Bala Cynwyd and Manayunk/Ivy Ridge warranted its closure, forcing SEPTA to scale back service its Cynwyd Station in Bala Cynwyd.

In charters of the Anglo-Saxon period a haw, or enclosed area within a burh, was often conveyed by charter as if it were an apanage of the lands in the neighbourhood with which it was conveyed; the Norman settlers who succeeded to lands in the county succeeded therewith to houses in the burhs, for a close association existed between the thegns of the shire and the shirestow, an association partly perhaps of duty and also of privilege. The king granted borough haws as places of refuge in Kent, and in London he gave them with commercial privileges to his bishops. What has been called the heterogeneous tenure of the shirestow, one of the most conspicuous characteristics of that particular type of borough, was further increased by the liberty which some burgesses enjoyed to "commend" themselves to a lord of their own choosing, promising to that lord suit and service and perhaps rent in return for protection. Over these burgesses the lords could claim jurisdictional rights, and these were in some cases increased by royal grants of special rights within certain sokes.
