The main building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 25, 1999. Today, the Milk Pail remains open and is a popular local location for wedding receptions.
The name Clichy was recorded for the first time in the 6th century as Clippiacum, later corrupted into Clichiacum, meaning "estate of Cleppius", a Gallo-Roman landowner. In the 13th century, the plain of Clichy was used as a garenne ("warren" in English), i.e. a hunting park and game preserve for the exclusive use of the king or a lord. Clichy became known as Clichy-la-Garenne ("Clichy the Warren" or preserve).
Paphos Forest at Mount Tripylos The Paphos Forest is a state forest located in the Troodos Mountains of Cyprus with an area of 70,000 hectares. It has been a Permanent Game Preserve since 1938 . Paphos forest is a mediterranean type forest with both coniferous trees like Brutia pine (Pinus brutia) and Cyprus cedar (Cedrus brevifolia) and broadleaf trees like Golden oak (Quercus alnifolia) and Platanus orientalis. Paphos forest is home to the Cyprus mouflon, Red fox and Cyprus mouse.
Additional visitor attractions at the reservation are the White Horse Hill National Game Preserve and the Fort Totten State Historic Site, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Spirit Lake Tribe operates Cankdeska Cikana Community College, a tribal college established in the 1970s. The two-year college provides classes in subject areas needed by the reservation and to prepare students for other jobs, as well as strengthening their Dakota culture and language.

Elk Ridge Run, Macintosh Run and Thicket Run are all seasonally intermittent minor tributaries of the Jordan. Just before the ford, the Jordan is joined by Elk Ridge Run. This south flowing watercourse begins near the bison paddocks and drains the eastern slope of Elk Ridge and the western slope of the environmental center grasslands.
Rodriguez at the premiere of Grindhouse, Austin, Texas, 2007 On February 7, 2010, it was announced that Rodríguez would produce a new Predator sequel, entitled Predators. This film's script was based on early drafts he had written after seeing the original. Rodriguez's ideas included a planet-sized game preserve and various creatures used by the Predators to hunt a group of abducted yet skilled humans. Opening to mostly positive reviews, the film fared reasonably well at the box office.
Locally such projects included Wilburton Municipal Airport, schools at Panola and elsewhere, and road-paving works. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), another federal program conducted in collaboration with state governments, developed a park project at the state game preserve, now part of Robbers Cave State Park. In 1933, Spanish–American War veterans established Veterans Colony in the county, buying land together. The war veterans could build cabins here and grow their own food, living year round in a community.
Generally all islands are covered in thick forest and they rise steeply from rocky shores. The small steep rocky islets are important as nesting places for the edible-nest swiftlets (Aerodramus fuciphagus). The beaches are breeding grounds for different species of sea turtles. In 1924, during colonial times, the whole archipelago was declared a game preserve and in 1927 a wildlife sanctuary; even then local people went to the islands to collect large numbers of turtle eggs.
Construction of the reservoir necessitated the removal of 5,800 trees and nine miles of hedgerow. The dam is at the north end and is crossed by Kinchley Lane. An island known as Brazil Island (the part of Brazil Wood left above water level after flooding) is located south of the centre of the reservoir, with a weir on either side. Brazil Island was the site of a game preserve until it was destroyed by fire in 1938.
The Mason gift was contingent the area be used as a permanent game preserve, no part shall ever be sold or developed [i.e. natural gas fracking] by the state, and no camping be allowed in the area for 25 years. The State of Michigan has continued the no-camping restriction in the Mason Tract. The only camping allowed is within Canoe Harbor State Forest Campground, located at the north end of the Tract on the Au Sable River.
After nearly 50 years of service, the Salling Hanson Company had shut down its operation in January 1927. He was a successful entrepreneur and created many businesses in Northern Michigan. Along with being one of three lumber barons of Northern Michigan, Hanson owned the Michigan Sugar Company and the Bay City Sugar Company. In 1916, he donated 13,826 acres of cut-over land in Crawford County to the state of Michigan for use as a forest game preserve and military reservation.
U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt visited the Grand Canyon in 1903. An avid outdoorsman and staunch conservationist, Roosevelt established the Grand Canyon Game Preserve on November 28, 1906. Livestock grazing was reduced, but predators such as mountain lions, eagles, and wolves were eradicated. Roosevelt along with other members of his conservation group, the Boone and Crockett Club helped form the National Parks Association, which in turn lobbied for the Antiquities Act of 1906 which gave Roosevelt the power to create national monuments.
Bison on the Woolaroc Wildlife Preserve Woolaroc Ranch Historic District, also known as Rock Creek Game Preserve, Frank Phillips Ranch, Phillips Osage Park and Woolaroc Museum and Wildlife Preserve, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 5, 2008. It is significant as a reflection of the time period and for its role in the petroleum industry of the time. It is also significant for its landscape architecture. Contributing resources include 18 buildings, 22 sites, 115 structures, and 17 objects.
The Milk Pail Restaurant, formerly known as the Country Tea Room, is a historic restaurant (tearoom) in unincorporated Dundee Township, Kane County, Illinois, United States. It was originally a farmhouse for Increase C. Bosworth, who operated the farm as a creamery. He sold it to Max McGraw in 1926, who converted into a teahouse restaurant. To meet the demands of the changing tastes of travelers in the 1930s, the teahouse was converted into a full restaurant, featuring game from McGraw's nearby game preserve.
Like his predecessor John R. Neill, Dick Martin was a veteran Oz illustrator who moved into Oz authorship; The Ozmapolitan of Oz is Martin's single sustained work of Oz fiction. He includes Decalcomania, Xenophobia, Yahooism, and Zymolysis in a list of human diseases;Dick Martin, The Ozmapolitan of Oz, Kinderhook, IL, The International Wizard of Oz Club, 1986; p. 45. his "Game Preserve" is a Parcheesi-like board game laid out in a landscape.The Ozmapolitan of Oz, pp. 52-7.
He became an active member of the community. Fond of the theater and performance arts, he organized and directed several musicals in Peace River. He also had a horse drawn wagon that he would take around the region and perform magic shows with his daughter as the assistant. An avid outdoorsman, he and fellow Peace River resident, Norman Soars, persuaded the government to create the Greene Valley Game Preserve Greene died on August 28, 1952, in Edmonton, Alberta from a stroke.
The village can be easily reached via car or bus. It lies close to the crossroads of two main routes, one from south to north (Prague-Písek) and the other from east to west (Březnice-Tábor). The château, Orlík Castle, stands right adjacent to the water and is surrounded by a huge castle park and a game preserve. The property belongs to the House of Schwarzenberg, but during the summer months it is open to the public on most days.
Loch Lomond is a lake in geographic Glasgow Township in the Unorganized North Part of Algoma District in Northeastern, Ontario, Canada. It is in the Great Lakes Basin and lies within the Chapleau Crown Game Preserve. The primary inflow is the Lochalsh River arriving from Glasgow Lake at the west. The primary outflow, at the east, is also the Lochalsh River, which flows to Dog Lake and then via the Dog River, the Michipicoten River, and the Magpie River to Lake Superior.
This land became the first state-owned game preserve. The area south of Lake Margrethe (named in honor of Hanson’s wife, Margrethe) continues to be used as a National Guard base that serves Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana guards., originally published in the Otsego County Herald Times, October 6, 1927 Since 1947, Grayling has been the starting point of the Au Sable River Canoe Marathon, which is held every year on the last weekend of July. This is the longest nonstop canoe race in North America.
The American Bison Society was formed to prevent the extinction of the American bison. In 1907, the ABS shipped 15 bison from the Bronx Zoo to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge and Game Preserve in Oklahoma by cart and rail. This was the first animal reintroduction in North America. In 1908, following successful petitioning by ABS, the US Congress passed a bill to establish a permanent National Bison Range in Montana, provided that ABS raise the $10,000 needed to purchase the animals for the herd.
Kisumu is set south of the Equator and has moderate temperatures because of its 1130 m elevation. Just four hours away by car is the massive Kenya National Game Preserve: the Maasai Mara, a world-renowned safari attraction. Since Kisumu is a few kilometers south of the Equator, daytime there always lasts about 12 hours, and local sunset always occurs between 18:40 and 19:00 local time. The metropolitan region comprises the city and its suburbs and satellite towns of Maseno, Kondele, and Ahero.
Near the Holly Shelter Game Preserve it merges with US 17 and travels southwest towards the unincorporated community of Hampstead, where it leaves to the west and takes a winding path towards an interchange with I-40 in the Pender County community of Rocky Point. Following a winding path eastwards through several rural, unincorporated communities, it crosses US 421 and has a brief concurrency with NC 53 before turning due north and changing designations from east-west to north-south before entering Bladen County.
Because the proximity of a human community provided the elk with an additional source of food, this population thrived more successfully than a similarly-sized population that was transferred to the Chapleau Crown Game Preserve at the same time."Land for elk herd won't be sold". By 1950, however, concerns that the elk were spreading liver fluke to other local animal populations led the provincial government to institute a program of reducing the population by permitting hunting of the elk.
Grand Canyon National Park Act of 1919 is a United States statute establishing Grand Canyon National Park in the state of Arizona. The Act of Congress describes geographic metes and bounds relative to the tract of land designating the Grand Canyon Park. The public law authorizes provisions for agricultural purposes, mineral prospecting rights, irrigation projects, and railroad easements. The Act provides restrictions for building on private land, game preserve exclusion, and rescinding the Grand Canyon National Monument as created by Presidential Proclamation 794 in 1908.
These include the town of Independence, the village of Folsom, and the unincorporated communities of Loranger and Bush. LA 40 also connects Independence with Interstate 55 (I-55), the area's primary route to the New Orleans area. Further east, the highway provides access to the Global Wildlife Center, a popular wildlife and game preserve located west of Folsom. LA 40 was designated in the 1955 Louisiana Highway renumbering from portions of several former routes, primarily State Route 408, State Route 1080, and State Route 189.
In 2015 Brigadier General Malcolm Frost said, "Every Army installation is named for a soldier who holds a place in our military history." He further explained that the historic names chosen "represent individuals, not causes or ideologies," and that it was done "in the spirit of reconciliation, not division." After World War I, Camp Lee was taken over by the Commonwealth of Virginia and designated a game preserve. Later, portions of the land were incorporated into the Petersburg National Battlefield and the Federal Correctional Institution, Petersburg.
The former Webb estate has stunning views and some of the grandest barns of any Gilded Age property. A great horseman, Dr. Webb had a large collection of carriages, many of which are on display today at the Shelburne Museum. The Vanderbilt Webb's other country estate was an Adirondack Great Camp named NeHaSane, a game preserve of some 200,000 acres (800 km²), most of which was later donated to the State of New York to become part of the Adirondack Park. The town of Webb, New York in the park is named after him.
The Bruces planted hardwoods and pine, built ponds to attract waterfowl and provide for irrigation, and placed 70 percent of the farm fields back into cultivation. In 1954 Edward Starr and James Madison Barker, a distinguished MIT alumnus and early leader in the field of international business, purchased the islands. They continued to manage them as a game preserve. In 1975, they donated the islands to the United States Fish and Wildlife Service to be managed exclusively as a National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) and as a nature and forest preserve for aesthetic and conservation purposes.
ND 57 begins at an intersection with US 281 in Benson County and starts east toward Fort Totten along a two- lane road. A few miles east of this intersection, the route turns northeast and enters Fort Totten. After leaving Fort Totten, ND 57 crosses Devils Lake for the first time, entering the White Horse Hill National Game Preserve upon returning to land, but leaving the preserve shortly after. The route continues to travel east, curving along the shore of the lake until reaching a small island that is home to a casino.
In March 2012, 63 American bison from Yellowstone National Park were transferred to the Fort Peck Indian Reservation prairie, to be released to a game preserve north of Poplar. There are many other bison herds outside Yellowstone, but this is one of the very few genetically pure ones, not cross- bred with cattle. Native Americans celebrated the move, which came over a century after bison were nearly wiped out by hunters and the government. The Assiniboine and Gros Ventre tribes at the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation will also receive a portion of this herd.
Instead, the tower was sold in 1872. In 1882 Great Island was purchased by Charles B. Cory, the ornithologist, for use as a game preserve and bird sanctuary. He restored the tower and added a structure on top for bird-watching, replacing the long absent lantern; the keeper's house was used to house his butterfly collection. Cory lost his fortune in a stock market crash, and in 1914 he sold the land to Malcolm Greene Chace, a banker from Rhode Island; the property containing the old light has remained in the family since.
On the south Browne hid the bulk of his army on the other side of a marsh defined by the Morellenbach. He had his battalions lie down in the tall grass and hid his heavy cavalry squadrons behind the woods of a game preserve next to the village of Sullowitz. In this village he also placed some battalions of infantry and artillery. Most of his army was hidden from Prussian view by morning mist and terrain. On the morning of 1 October, in heavy fog, Frederick's Prussians approached Lobositz in column of route.
La Varenne-de-St.-Hilaire by Camille Pissarro, circa 1863 The little settlement that grew around the abbey, known as Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, developed a market during the thirteenth century. The present territory also includes a formerly distinct village, La Varenne-Saint-Hilaire, against the perimeter of the nearby game preserve of Saint-Hilaire, part of the abbey's domaines. In 1791, part of the territory of Saint-Maur-des-Fossés was detached and became the commune of La Branche-du- Pont-de-Saint-Maur, later renamed Joinville-le-Pont.
Highway 651 is a route which connects the community of Missanabie with Highway 101, also providing access to the western side of the Chapleau Crown Game Preserve. The southern terminus of the route is a junction with Highway 101, midway between Wawa and Chapleau. From there it proceeds north through an isolated region of northern Ontario, passing through the thick forests of the Canadian Shield. At the midpoint of the route, a short road branches off to the east, connecting with Dalton, a siding on the Canadian Pacific Railway's transcontinental line.
The Morton Freeman Plant Hunting Lodge is the centerpiece of a hunting retreat at 56 Stone Ranch Road in East Lyme, Connecticut. It is a large two-story Bungalow style house, designed by Dudley St. Clair Donnelly and built in 1908 by financier Morton Freeman Plant, and is one of the only early 20th-century purpose-built hunting lodges in the state. It was the heart of a large private game preserve that Plant stocked with game birds. The property, now reduced to , is surrounded by town conservation land and a state military reservation.
Most of Jackson County is a high relatively broad intermontane basin known as North Park, which covers . This basin opens north into Wyoming and is rimmed on the west by the Park Range and Sierra Madre Range, on the south by the Rabbit Ears Range and the Never Summer Mountains, and on the east by the Medicine Bow Mountains. Elevations range from 7,800 to above sea level and is home to the head waters of the North Platte River. The term park is derived from parc, the French word for game preserve.
In 1903, he proposed to deactivate the Erie Canal, and use the right-of-way of the canal bed to lay railroad tracks instead, and then ship freight (especially his grains and malts) by rail. Besides being faster than the canal boats, the rail transport would work all year round, while the canals were closed during the winter when the water froze to ice. During his last years, he spent the winters at "Seminole Grove", an estate with an extensive game preserve and fruit orchards, near Fort Myers, Florida, and died there in May 1928.
A local group, the Lehigh Valley Zoological Society, formed to assume private control of the zoo under a lease arrangement with Lehigh County. After the confluence of the Jordan and Mill Creeks, the Jordan enters the preserve and heads north- north-east. To its west, the Jordan is bounded by the imposing Mill Hill (along which the Theyken Ridge Trail runs). Further downstream, Mill Hill recedes straight north as the Jordan turns east—Mill Hill's proximity to the Jordan is further distanced by a valley cut by Hegel's Run.
A few miles from Finnup Park, the Big Pool and Lee Richardson Zoo is the Buffalo Game Preserve, with one of the largest herds of bison in the world. Windsor Hotel (2015) The Windsor Hotel, built downtown in 1887 by John A. Stevens, was known as the "Waldorf of the Prairies" because of its lavish quarters. Among its early guests were Eddie Foy, Lillian Russell, Jay Gould and Buffalo Bill Cody, who stayed in the presidential suite of the third floor. The Windsor, which closed in 1977, is owned by the Finney County Preservation Alliance.

Menier named the island's high Vauréal Falls after the town of Vauréal in France where he owned a home. He constructed the entire village of Port-Menier, built a cannery for packing fish and lobsters, and attempted to develop its resources of lumber, peat and minerals. Many of the original houses still stand today. Furthermore, he converted the island into a personal game preserve and introduced nonindigenous animals for this purpose, including a herd of 220 white-tailed deer. The deer thrived and today the population exceeds 160,000 while the island's moose population is about 1,000.
In 1884, Martin leased Balmacaan, a well known game preserve in parish of Urguhart, Inverness-shire Scotland, a mile from Drumnadrochit, from Lady Seafield. From that point on, they generally lived there except for a few months, generally during the Winters, they spent in New York. Martin was a member of the Union Club. In January 1885, the Martins gave a ball for the "Four Hundred" invited guests at their residence, which was considered, with the exception of the Vanderbilt "fancy dress ball of 1883, " the most unique and beautiful entertainment ever enjoyed by the members of New York Society.

Industry in the woreda includes 4 edible oil mills, 35 grain mills and one brick factory employing 177 people, as well as 777 registered traders of whom 22.9% were wholesalers 50.7% retailers and 26.4% service providers.
Currently, Ontario Parks does not have full agency status, but is a branch of the Ministry of Environment, Conservation, and Parks (MECP), but, interestingly, Park Wardens are still employed by the MNRF and not the MECP. Until recently, Ontario Parks as a whole was under the mandate of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF). The history of Ontario's provincial parks stretches for over 100 years. Here are some of the milestones from the past century plus: 1893 – Algonquin Park is created as a public park and forest reservation, fish and game preserve, health resort and pleasure ground.
Shortly after the story hit the press, the truth about the origins of the pig were revealed. Four days before "Monster Pig" was shot, he lived on a nearby farm, a domesticated, part Duroc hog named "Fred". The owners, Rhonda and Phil Blissitt, stated that the pig loved to play with their grandchildren and his favorite treat was canned sweet potatoes. Previous stories reported that the pig had escaped domestication; however, the Blissits in fact sold the pig to the game preserve, and he was released on the reserve four days before being hunted and killed by Stone.

In the Babylon 5 episode "Spider in the Web", John Carter is mentioned as the pilot of the first colony ship to Mars. In "Secret Origins", the pilot episode of the cartoon TV series Justice League, the first US astronaut on Mars is named J. Allen Carter.
The hotel, which had been under design since 1902, was built the next year and opened in January 1905. The Grand Canyon Game Preserve was established by Roosevelt's executive order in 1906, expanding protections granted by President Benjamin Harrison in 1893. The Grand Canyon National Monument was proclaimed in 1908, and Grand Canyon National Park was finally established by Congress in 1919 The Santa Fe Railway initially planned for a relatively small hotel, but increased the size in view of increasing traffic to the Grand Canyon. The site was an area of granted by the U.S. Government for use as a train terminal.
The Martinsburg Formation developed during the Ordovician period (490 to 443 million years ago), and is characterized by dark grey shale and thin beds of siltstone and sandstone, with depths up to 12,000 feet. The New Tripoli group, the dominant geologic member in the preserve, is composed of shale and calcareous turbidites with sedimentary characteristics. The preserve is the easternmost extent of the Schochary Ridge which arises from the relatively flat Lehigh Valley. In 1887, Cory was made the curator of birds at the Boston Society of Natural History. In 1882, Cory purchased Great Island in West Yarmouth, Massachusetts as a summer retreat and game preserve, and set about the restoration of its Point Gammon Light as an ornithological observatory. While summering there on Cape Cod, Cory entertained dignitaries such as President Grover Cleveland, and frequently sponsored community sporting and cultural events. From 1888 to 1892, he and friend Charles Richard Crane funded and played on the Hyannis town team in what is now the Cape Cod Baseball League.
Many of the black residents of Magruder and at least one church relocated to the majority-black community of Grove in nearby James City County. Grove had been sparsely populated until the years after 1918, when a large influx of displaced black families moved there after their land was taken to create a military reservation which became the Naval Weapons Station Yorktown. After World War II, the Camp Peary area was transferred to the Commonwealth of Virginia and was used as a state game preserve. Then, in 1951, the Navy reclaimed the land and closed the base to the public.
This left the First Nations of the area without a subsistence lifestyle, and resulted in ongoing conflict about their rights and access to hunting in the Game Preserve. The Brunswick House Band was relocated to a new reserve near Elsas on the main line of the Canadian National Railway. In 1948 they were relocated to another new Reserve at Tophet on the main line of the Canadian Pacific Railway east of Chapleau. They were again relocated in 1973 to yet another reserve at Duck Lake on Highway 101 three miles from Chapleau where they live today.
After the soldiers left the post, it was transferred to the Quartermaster Department. A handful of seven buildings were retained for the headquarters for quartermaster remount operations, and the rest were sold at auction in 1906, with the condition they be demolished and the grounds of the fort left clean. From 1906 to 1911 a small cadre of quartermaster offices and employees operated the fort as a remount depot, where they supervised the purchase of horses for cavalry and artillery. In 1912, after the remount depot activities ended, sixteen thousand acres of the original military reservation was set aside as a national game preserve by a conservation minded federal administration.
The open land to the north of Cambridge that now comprises King's Hedges was known as Albrach from as early as the 13th century. In 1558 it was agreed that Richard Brakyn could inclose all 34 acres of Albrach, following which it was renamed Kings Hedges (without an apostrophe, which was introduced into English in the sixteenth century in imitation of French practice. ). The name is believed to have derived from the fact that it is on the site of the ancient King's warren, or game preserve, where hedges were grown to direct the animals into areas where the hunters could easily catch or kill them.
