Sheldon was raised in Galveston, Texas, along with his older brother, George Jr., and fraternal twin sister, Missy, by his mother, Mary Cooper, an overtly devout Baptist; and his father, George Cooper, a football coach. Sheldon once got his father fired when he told Mr. Hinckley, a store owner, that George was stealing from the cash register. In Young Sheldon, this is retconned: his father is a football coach who was fired from his coaching position in Galveston because he disclosed that other coaches were illegally recruiting players to their school, forcing the family to return to Medford, a fictional town in East Texas. He does drink, mostly beer, but is a loving father who is trying to understand his intellectually gifted son.
Malina had powers resembling those of her weather-controlling great-great-aunt Alice Shaw, while Nathan inherited Arthur Petrelli's power of power absorption, as specifically stated by Angela Petrelli. However, Nathan had a different version of the ability where he could only keep one stolen power at a time like his uncle Peter did with his second ability. Nathan, being Malina's fraternal twin brother, possessed the ability to share Malina's power without permanently taking it from her as he did Claire and Hiro. However, while the bond they shared as twins allowed them to briefly share abilities, they could not control the resulting power and needed their grandfather Noah Bennet, a regular human with no powers of his own, to act as the conduit to channel the power they generated safely.
A fifty-something husband, Gene Bergman (Wilder), and his wife, Annie (Hillary Bailey Smith), who is in her thirties, are learning to cope with raising 4-year-old fraternal twin sons, Sam and Gabe (Carl Michael Lindner and Ian Bottiglieri). Sensible Annie pulled him through all the obstacles, and in the meantime, the Bergmans were just settling in for the joy of Sam and Gabe's innocent years. Gene ran an advertising agency with his partner, crabby best friend Jack Travis (Gregory Itzin), whose offices were located adjacent to both their homes.

Natera launched a non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT) in February 2013 called Panorama, that uses an advanced bioinformatics-based algorithm to analyze the cell-free fetal DNA that is found in the mother’s blood. Panorama detects chromosome abnormalities, including Trisomy 21, the cause of Down syndrome, Trisomy 18, the cause of Edwards syndrome, Trisomy 13, the cause of Patau syndrome, sex chromosome abnormalities, triploidy and certain microdeletions as early as the first trimester of pregnancy. Using its patented SNP Technology, it is the only commercially available NIPT that differentiates maternal and fetal (placenta) DNA which in turn allows it to be the only commercially available NIPT that can detect Vanishing Twin and Triploidy and in twin pregnancies, individual gender and tell whether it’s a identical or fraternal twin pregnancy. A clinical study evaluating Natera’s NIPT is funded by the National Institutes of Health, and is currently ongoing.
In later seasons, Roger's role is retconned to portray him knowing about Jeannie from the beginning (i.e., to him having been with Tony on the space flight that touched down, and thus having seen Jeannie introduce herself to Tony.) Jeannie's evil fraternal twin sister, mentioned in a second-season episode (also named Jeannie – since, as Barbara Eden's character explains it, all female genies are named Jeannie — and also portrayed by Barbara Eden, in a brunette wig), proves to have a mean streak starting in the third season (demonstrated in her initial appearance in "Jeannie or the Tiger?" [September 19, 1967]), repeatedly trying to steal Tony for herself, with her as the real "master". Her final attempt in the series comes shortly after Tony and Jeannie are married, with a ploy involving a man played by Barbara Eden's real-life husband at the time, Michael Ansara (in a kind of in-joke, while Jeannie's sister pretends to be attracted to him, she privately scoffs at him).
Cherone grew up in Malden, Massachusetts, and attended Malden High School, the third of five brothers and the younger fraternal twin of Greg Cherone. In his teenage years, Cherone turned to singing in local bands and was heavily influenced by the reigning rock frontmen of the day, most notably Roger Daltrey of The Who, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, and Queen's Freddie Mercury. In 1979 Cherone and drummer friend Paul Geary along with guitarist Matt McKay, formed a hard-rock band called Adrenalin, which performed locally. In 1981, they changed the band's name to The Dream and recorded a six-song independent vinyl EP. A few years later, Cherone and The Dream appeared in a music video produced by David Horgan, on the early MTV program, Basement Tapes, a show in which the viewing audience "voted" (via a toll-free telephone number) for one of two competing amateur music videos submitted by unsigned artists.
DiMarco is a fourth- generation Deaf individual originally from Queens, NY. As DiMarco was growing up, his mother moved their family around the country in search of the best deaf education for her children. DiMarco’s family, including his mother, fraternal twin Nyle, and older brother Neal, first moved to Texas before settling in Frederick, Maryland, close to Washington D.C. Overall, Nico is one of 25 Deaf individuals in his family, and has been known to share how proud he is to be Deaf. DiMarco grew up in a Deaf family without much exposure to music. When he first became introduced to music at a young age, he became intrigued specifically by the beats, as he is unable to hear most music, accessing lyrics by reading along or through memorization. At first, his family was skeptical about Nico’s love for music, and wondered why he was so fascinated by it. Eventually, however, DiMarco’s parents purchased some speakers for him in order to aid in DiMarco’s ability to feel the beat of music.
