Green bridges are developed using fibrous material with stones. All the floatable and suspended solids are trapped in this biological bridge and the turbidity of flowing water is reduced. Green plants on the bridges increase the DO level in water, which in turn facilitates the growth of aerobic organisms, which degrade organic pollutants. On the waterways, the Authority operates two skimmer boats that remove floatable debris from the Anacostia and Potomac rivers every Monday through Friday. Canoeing on the Mulberry near Ozark The Mulberry is a scenic and popular river for recreational boating with kayaks or canoes. The river varies greatly in its flow depending upon the season and recent precipitation, but the water level is usually adequate for paddling between mid-October and mid-June. Water quality is excellent. Forty-five miles of the river are floatable beginning at Wolf Pen Access and Recreation Area in the Ozark National Forest and continuing until near the river's mouth where it flows into the Arkansas River.

The Aniakchak River is floatable in small to medium rafts and other watercraft. However, The Alaska River Guide advises against trying it "unless you are an expert paddler, extremely self-reliant in Alaska wilderness camping, and ready for severe weather and self-rescue." From a put-in at Surprise Lake, the river begins quietly, but downstream of the Aniakchak Crater wall it plunges through of rocky rapids rated between Class II (medium) to IV (very difficult) on the International Scale of River Difficulty. Below the rapids, the rest of the river is rated Class I (easy).

This commercial graving dock was capable of handling the largest vessels of the day. In 1893, to the east of this, there was a timber pond of connected to the No.1 dock by a short channel almost parallel with the then-existing dry-dock, but this link was later severed and part of its length converted to another dry-dock with the pond beyond filled in to make way for the necessary high-level rail viaducts and embankments run to the No.2 dock coal hoists. The remaining dry-dock, minus its floatable caisson, is still flooded with the waterline commoned with that of the two docks (July 2017).

Jake is ordered to sit down by Silver and is almost killed but Flanna shoots Tyler with a compound bow. The night before they would leave the lake and find another place to set up camp, Woolcott, the one who is willing to fund the preserve, along with Buzz, lands in a very nice floatable private plane. It was initially hoped by officials with the provincial government that Transport Canada would pay for the removal of MV Miner, since the tow was operating under federal shipping regulations at the time of the grounding. The Government of Canada denied any responsibility in paying for cleanup costs of the provincial wildlife management area, which were initially estimated to be at least $5 million CAD. Only weeks later, the Government of Nova Scotia estimated that if the wreck could not be towed away, and had to be taken apart on-site, costs could rise as high as $25 million CAD. In fall 2011, after it became apparent the Government of Canada was not going to undertake a salvage operation before winter set in, the Government of Nova Scotia contracted a company in an "emergency operation" to remove contaminants from on board the wreck, including the oily waste water, fire extinguishers, furniture from the cabins, and other floatable material.

It was realized that extraction of water from the aquifer was the cause. The sinking has slowed markedly since artesian wells were banned in the 1960s. However, the city is still threatened by more frequent low-level floods—the Acqua alta, that rise to a height of several centimetres over its quays—regularly following certain tides. In many old houses, staircases once used to unload goods are now flooded, rendering the former ground floor uninhabitable. Studies indicate that the city continues sinking at a relatively slow rate of 1–2mm per annum; therefore, the state of alert has not been revoked. In May 2003, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi inaugurated the MOSE Project (Modulo Sperimentale Elettromeccanico), an experimental model for evaluating the performance of hollow floatable gates; the idea is to fix a series of 78 hollow pontoons to the sea bed across the three entrances to the lagoon. When tides are predicted to rise above 110 cm, the pontoons will be filled with air, causing them to float and block the incoming water from the Adriatic Sea. This engineering work was due to be completed by 2018.
