Upon returning "Embattle" was designated a Reserve training ship homeported in Long Beach, CA.

Embattle was decommissioned in September 1972. She was struck from the Navy list on 15 May 1976, and was sold for scrapping on 11 January 1976.

Embattle was launched 17 September 1944 by American Shipbuilding Co., Lorain, Ohio; and commissioned 25 April 1945, Lieutenant P. A. Dulaney, USNR, in command. Embattle sailed from Cleveland, Ohio, 30 April 1945 via the St. Lawrence Waterway and after voyage repairs at Boston, Massachusetts, and shakedown exercises at Norfolk, Virginia, was en route to the Pacific when the war ended. After calling at San Pedro, California, she continued to Okinawa, arriving 6 November to aid in the postwar minesweeping operations there and in Japanese waters. Reporting to Subic Bay, Philippine Islands, 21 March 1946, she was demilitarized and departed for Shanghai, China.

She was decommissioned there 29 May 1946, and turned over on the same day to the Chinese Maritime Commission via the Foreign Liquidation Commission of the State Department. She was renamed Yung Hsing (A 7). Her fate is unknown. Embattle received one battle star for World War II service.

Since commissioning Embattle has served with Mine Forces, Pacific Fleet, engaged in type training and exercises along the U.S. West Coast from her home port of Long Beach, California. From May to November 1956, and from November 1958 to May 1959, she cruised to the Far East for exercises with the U.S. 7th Fleet and called at various Japanese ports, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, and the Philippines. From May 1959 through the end of 1960 Embattle cruised the U.S. West Coast, training and maintaining her readiness at the traditionally high Navy level. Deployed to the Western Pacific in 1969, she remained active with the 7th Fleet until 2 May 1970 when she returned to the U.S. West Coast.

The ROCS Yung-hsing was formerly the USS Embattle (AM-226) transferred to the ROC navy after the war. In January 1947, after making a failed attempt to dislodge the Chinese garrison from Woody Island, France established a permanent presence, on behalf of Vietnam, on Pattle Island in the western Paracels. After the Hainan Island Campaign in 1950 during the Chinese Civil War, the ROC garrisons on Woody Island and Itu Aba were withdrawn to Taiwan. France had a chance to take over the islands, but decided not to, for fear of compromising its interests with the newly established PRC.

The daughter, Jane, married George Wyatt of Allington Castle, Boxley, Kent, son of Sir Thomas Wyatt, whose rebellion Finch had been sent to quell in 1554. Finch's heir, Moyle, created a baronet 27 May 1611, married in 1574 Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Thomas Heneage of Copt Hall, Essex ; inherited Eastwell on his mother's death in 1587 ; obtained a license to enclose one thousand acres of land there, and to embattle his house, 18 Jan. 1589, and died 14 December 1614. His widow was created, in consideration of her father's services, Viscountess Maidstone, 8 July 1623, and Countess of Winchilsea, 12 July 1628, both titles being granted with limitation to heirs male.

The estate of Thorndon Hall, known previously as the manor of West Horndon, can trace its records back to the 1086 Domesday Survey commissioned by William the Conqueror. However, a building on the site of Old Thorndon Hall was first recorded in 1414 when King Henry V of England gave licence for its new owner, a merchant from South Wales called Lewis John, to "empark , to surround his lodge within this park with walls and to crenellate and embattle the lodge". The current house replaced Old Thorndon Hall which was located about a mile to the south in what is now known as "ruin wood" next to Old Hall pond. The old hall was damaged by fire in the early 18th century and was subsequently pulled down after being used briefly as farm buildings.

Site of the Black Friars' church: its stones were used to build the first pair of navigation lights at North Shields. In 1536, a charter of Henry VIII gave permission to the Guild of the Blessed Trinity (which is known today as Trinity House of Newcastle) to build and embattle a pair of towers on the north bank of the River Tyne to serve as leading lights for safe navigation at the mouth of the river. The granting of the charter coincided with Henry's policy of dissolving England's monasteries and in 1539 he gave the monastic church of the town's Blackfriars monastery to the Guild, which used its stonework to build the two towers. Work began on the towers the following year: they were built on high and low ground either side of Pow burn, which flows into the Tyne at 'the Narrows' (the narrowest point of the river mouth).

Cratley and Walesby have been held as Sub Manor of Wellow and Grimston. There was an assize in the time of King John, between the Abbot of Rufford, and William, son of Robert, and others, concerning Common of Pasture in Wellow and Grimston, The Abbot pleaded that they could not claim nor have any common of pasture in the pasture of the said Abbot, nor he in theirs, because the said lands and pastures were granted from lands of divers Baronies (or lordships) viz.
