Belghoria Expressway is a four-lane (including Dakshineswar to Rajchandrapur extension) long access controlled tolled expressway in the North Suburban fringes of Kolkata, West Bengal. It is a key arterial road, linking the terminal junction points of NH 16 and NH 19 at Rajchandrapur (near Dankuni) to Dakshineswar across Nivedita Setu and then to NH 12 (Jessore Road) at Dumdum/Kolkata Airport. The vacant space was utilised for the much-needed expansion and renovation of the Gun Factory of Fort William. Besides casting of brass guns, it also took up manufacture of iron shot and shells. Around 1855, breech-loading steel rifled guns had got its way to the British arsenal, but the Cossipore plant was not properly equipped to undertake manufacturing of such guns. The mini-bullet factory was transferred to Dumdum.

He once studied for the priesthood in Galway, Ireland, but left the seminary to take up law. After years of practicing law, he was appointed Regional Trial Court judge. He won prizes for his poetry, which he has published and read in the Philippines and abroad.
Kala-azar first came to the attention of Western doctors in 1824 in Jessore, India (now Bangladesh), where it was initially thought to be a form of malaria. Assam gave kala-azar one of its common names, Assam fever. Another common name, kala-azar (Hindustani: काला आज़ार (Devanagari) کالا آزار (Nastaleeq) kālā āzār), is derived from kala which means black in Sanskrit, as well as in the languages descended from it, including Assamese, Hindi and Urdu; the word azar means Fever in Persian and Hindustani; as such the disease is named for the darkening of the skin on the extremities and abdomen that is a symptom of the Indian form of the disease. The agent of the disease was also first isolated in India by Scottish doctor William Leishman (who observed the parasite in spleen smears of a soldier who died of the disease in Dumdum, Calcutta, India \- hence the name dumdum fever) and Irish physician Charles Donovan, working independently of each other.

It was the second Severe Cyclonic Storm to make landfall in West Bengal after Cyclone Aila. The storm produced heavy rain over many parts of West Bengal with Digha receiving 98 mm, Kolkata receiving 101 mm, Halisahar recording 95 mm and Dumdum receiving 90 mm of rain. Strong winds were also reported in many parts of South Bengal. Strong winds of 75 km/h also battered the Kolkata by uprooting many trees.

Dum Dum Park is a locality in South Dumdum Municipality of North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is close to Kolkata and forms part of the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) area. Dum Dum Park is a planned area with straight and wide roads, multiple water tanks have become a coveted neighbourhood in Greater Kolkata. In recent years, the multiple high budget pandals draw several visitors to the area during the Durga Puja.

Vinjerock is a rock festival 1060 meters above sea level, at Eidsbugarden in the Jotunheimen area in southern Norway. Approximately 15 rock bands play at this festival on the first weekend in August each year. The festival was arranged for the first time on 4 and 5 August 2006, with artists as Dumdum Boys, Thomas Dybdahl, Minor Majority and The Blackbirds on stage. The initial protests against NRC were organised by the Matua (Namashudra) community in West Bengal. On 1 August 2018, the members of the Matua community protested across the state, in places such as Dumdum, Sodepur, Titagarh, Palta, Halisahar, New Barrackpore, Madhyamgram, Barasat, Thakurnagar and Bhaybla in North 24 Parganas district and Chakdah, Bagula, Badkulla in Nadia district. They blocked the national highway-6 connecting Kolkata and Mumbai at Chandrapur in Howrah district. Sarva Bharatiya Namashudra Vikash Parishad promised to continue protests against NRC.

VIP Road (officially Kazi Nazrul Islam Sarani) is a major thoroughfare connecting the city of Kolkata with Dumdum/Kolkata Airport. Located in the North-Eastern outskirts of the city, it was built in 1962 to provide speedy connection with the city and its sole airport. VIP Road is part of State Highway 3. To reduce traffic jams especially in the crossings of Kestopur and Baguiati, a flyover is constructed over the stretch between Dum Dum Park and Raghunathpur, which opened in March 2015.

The semi-final, held on Dalhousie Ground on 24 July saw the biggest crowd for a football match in India at that point. A bout of diphtheria at the age of ten seriously affected his hearing for the remainder of his life. A few years later he was sent as a boarder to Eton College. During the Second Boer War, Cole was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Yorkshire Hussars, in which he quickly rose to the rank of acting captain. He was wounded by a dumdum bullet on 2 July 1900 and recuperated from shrapnel wounds at the Red Cross hospital in Kroonstad until September that year.

He appeared on Thorgeir Stubø's first album Notice, later establishing himself in Trondheim, where he teaches on the Jazz programat at the Trondheim Musikkonservatorium, where he holds an instrumental teaching degree from 1982. In addition he is Associate professor at the Musikkonservatoriet i Tromsø, and has also written several textbooks on drumming like Hvordan spille moderne trommesett, to mention one. Sandbakk appeared on the album Blodig Alvor (1988), with the renowned Norwegian rock band DumDum Boys, playing drums on the song "Idyll".

Nivedita Setu (also called Second Vivekananda Setu) is a multi-span extradosed bridge completed 2007 over Hooghly River connecting Howrah with Kolkata, in West Bengal. It runs parallel to and about 50 m downstream of the old Vivekananda Setu opened in 1932. The bridge is named after Sister Nivedita, the social worker-disciple of Swami Vivekananda. Belghoria Expressway that connects the meeting point of NH 16 with NH 19 at Dankuni to NH 12, NH 112, Dumdum/Kolkata Airport and northern parts of Kolkata passes over the bridge.
The large Kudghat bus depot serves as a terminus of a number of state buses and a private bus. Bus services connect Kudghat with Rashbehari, Gariahat, Chowringhee, Howrah Station, Dakshineswar, Salt Lake, New Town, Dumdum/Kolkata Airport etc. The Netaji Metro Station is the first of several to be constructed over the Adi Ganga which stretches on to New Garia as part of the first extension to the network of Kolkata Metro. The naming of the station had given rise to a controversy as no historical evidence has been found showing any link between Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and the Kudghat area.

Mokshaprana Mataji was elected as a trustee of Sri Sarada Math in 1959 and in 1960 she became the vice president of the Math and the Mission. She personally supervised the construction of a degree college, Vivekananda college in Dumdum, under Ramakrishna Sarada Mission. She had knowledge of Homeopathy and she established a charitable dispensary in Dakshineswar which was frequented by the local people and this helped Sri Sarada Math to garner local support for its activities. In 1962 Ramakrishna Siksha Mandir, the second branch of Ramakrishna Sarada Mission was established in Baruipara Lane near Alambazar.

Belghoria Expressway is a tolled expressway connecting the junction points of NH 19 and NH 16 at Rajchandrapur (near Dankuni) to Dakshineswar, across Nivedita Setu and then to NH 12 (Jessore Road), near Dumdum/Kolkata Airport. Dakshineswar is also connected by ordinary toll-free PWD Road to Dankuni across Vivekananda Setu (old Bally Bridge) and to Dunlop More on Barrackpore Trunk Road (part of both SH 1 and SH 2). Dakshineswar is also connected to Ariadaha via Ramkrishna Paramhansa Dev Road-Rabindranath Tagore Road-D.D. Mondal Ghat Road and to Baranagar via Surya Sen Road-Deshbandhu Road.

The very same year, Bukta Tromsø Open Air Festival picked up the gauntlet from North of Nowhere, and was awarded the "Festival of the Year" award. 2006 saw further progression, and the festival was completely sold out a fortnight before the first concert. Some 13,000 attendees got to see among others Motörhead (UK), Danko Jones (CAN), Håkan Hellstrøm (SE), Mew (DK), Kaizers Orchestra, DumDum Boys and Seigmen. For 2007, the festival was expanded from two to three days, something which enabled the festival directors to book even more acts and further expand the artistic palette of the festival.

These were not the first expanding bullets, however; hollow-point expanding bullets were commonly used for hunting thin-skinned game in express rifles as early as the mid-1870s.

It was formed after bifurcation of the North 24 Parganas Police District, and has eleven police stations under its jurisdiction. Shri Mukesh is the current Commissioner of the Bidhannagar City Police. Shri Rajeev Kumar was the first commissioner of Bidhan Nagar City Police.
" Barghouti called in 2009 for Israeli officers to be brought up on war-crime charges, saying that "Israel has killed 1,410 people, mostly unarmed civilians, including more than 400 children." After passing of The Bengal Suppression of Immoral Traffic Bill, 1933, the ABWU rescued girls and started a rehabilitation home called the All Bengal Women's Industrial Institute at Dumdum. Romola Sinha, who later became first chairperson of Central Social Welfare Board in West Bengal, an institution founded at national level by Durgabai Deshmukh. She was also first Secretary of All Bengal Women's Union in 1932 founded under Presidency of Maharani Suniti Devi of Cooch Behar and later became President of ABWU for many years.
