He won prizes for his poetry, which he has published and read in the Philippines and abroad.

Kala-azar first came to the attention of Western doctors in 1824 in Jessore, India (now Bangladesh), where it was initially thought to be a form of malaria. Assam gave kala-azar one of its common names, Assam fever. Another common name, kala-azar (Hindustani: काला आज़ार (Devanagari) کالا آزار (Nastaleeq) kālā āzār), is derived from kala which means black in Sanskrit, as well as in the languages descended from it, including Assamese, Hindi and Urdu; the word azar means Fever in Persian and Hindustani; as such the disease is named for the darkening of the skin on the extremities and abdomen that is a symptom of the Indian form of the disease. Dum Dum Park is a locality in South Dumdum Municipality of North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is close to Kolkata and forms part of the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) area. Vinjerock is a rock festival 1060 meters above sea level, at Eidsbugarden in the Jotunheimen area in southern Norway. Approximately 15 rock bands play at this festival on the first weekend in August each year. VIP Road (officially Kazi Nazrul Islam Sarani) is a major thoroughfare connecting the city of Kolkata with Dumdum/Kolkata Airport. Located in the North-Eastern outskirts of the city, it was built in 1962 to provide speedy connection with the city and its sole airport. VIP Road is part of State Highway 3. To reduce traffic jams especially in the crossings of Kestopur and Baguiati, a flyover is constructed over the stretch between Dum Dum Park and Raghunathpur, which opened in March 2015.

Sandbakk appeared on the album Blodig Alvor (1988), with the renowned Norwegian rock band DumDum Boys, playing drums on the song "Idyll".

Nivedita Setu (also called Second Vivekananda Setu) is a multi-span extradosed bridge completed 2007 over Hooghly River connecting Howrah with Kolkata, in West Bengal. It runs parallel to and about 50 m downstream of the old Vivekananda Setu opened in 1932. The bridge is named after Sister Nivedita, the social worker-disciple of Swami Vivekananda. Belghoria Expressway that connects the meeting point of NH 16 with NH 19 at Dankuni to NH 12, NH 112, Dumdum/Kolkata Airport and northern parts of Kolkata passes over the bridge.

The large Kudghat bus depot serves as a terminus of a number of state buses and a private bus. Bus services connect Kudghat with Rashbehari, Gariahat, Chowringhee, Howrah Station, Dakshineswar, Salt Lake, New Town, Dumdum/Kolkata Airport etc. The Netaji Metro Station is the first of several to be constructed over the Adi Ganga which stretches on to New Garia as part of the first extension to the network of Kolkata Metro. Mokshaprana Mataji was elected as a trustee of Sri Sarada Math in 1959 and in 1960 she became the vice president of the Math and the Mission. She personally supervised the construction of a degree college, Vivekananda college in Dumdum, under Ramakrishna Sarada Mission. She had knowledge of Homeopathy and she established a charitable dispensary in Dakshineswar which was frequented by the local people and this helped Sri Sarada Math to garner local support for its activities. Belghoria Expressway is a tolled expressway connecting the junction points of NH 19 and NH 16 at Rajchandrapur (near Dankuni) to Dakshineswar, across Nivedita Setu and then to NH 12 (Jessore Road), near Dumdum/Kolkata Airport. The very same year, Bukta Tromsø Open Air Festival picked up the gauntlet from North of Nowhere, and was awarded the "Festival of the Year" award. 2006 saw further progression, and the festival was completely sold out a fortnight before the first concert. Some 13,000 attendees got to see among others Motörhead (UK), Danko Jones (CAN), Håkan Hellstrøm (SE), Mew (DK), Kaizers Orchestra, DumDum Boys and Seigmen. After passing of The Bengal Suppression of Immoral Traffic Bill, 1933, the ABWU rescued girls and started a rehabilitation home called the All Bengal Women's Industrial Institute at Dumdum. Romola Sinha, who later became first chairperson of Central Social Welfare Board in West Bengal, an institution founded at national level by Durgabai Deshmukh. She was also first Secretary of All Bengal Women's Union in 1932 founded under Presidency of Maharani Suniti Devi of Cooch Behar and later became President of ABWU for many years. She later worked along with her other contemporaries like Renuka Ray, Seeta Chaudhuri, Arati Sen and was a guiding light to later generation women activists from West Bengal like Sheila Davar, Bela Sen, Mrs Manek Modi,Mrs Jaya Chaliha, Mrs Pranati Ghosal & Mrs Khorshed Narielwala and others.

Gridseth was regular bassist in the band «Soundtrip» together with guitarist Ove Bjørken, drummer Ernst-Wiggo Sandbakk and keyboardist Jan Gunnar Hoff, a collaboration that was continued with the ensemble «Trondheim Bop- service», which included Ernst-Wiggo Sandbakk, Odd André Elveland (tenor saxophone), Ove Bjørken, Torgeir Andresen (trumpet) and Kåre Kolve (alto saxophone). He was also part of Kjersti Stubø Band, and achieved international fame through being part of Siri Gellein's Svaleband (1987–), while attending the Jazz program at Trondheim Coservatory og Music (NTNU). Otherwise, he was occasionally in «Brand new sisters» (1984-1988). He also attended the releases Herberget sannheten (1987) by Hans Rotmo, Blodig Alvor (NaNaNaNa) (1988), Splitter Pine (1989), and Pstereo (1990) with DumDum Boys, The Song We Forgot / Mijjen Vuelieh (1991) with Frode Fjellheim, Vårsøg (1991) with Henning Sommerro , Rai Rai (1993) with D.D.E., The Music Machine (1996)Gunnar Andreas Berg, and Landstryker (1996) with Ove Bjørken.

Spread over 2640 acres at Dumdum in Kolkata, the largest in eastern India, the newly modernised Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport is the fifth busiest international airport in India in respect of aircraft movement (after Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai). It has two asphalt runways, the primary one extended by 700 meters (3627×50m) and upgraded to CATIIIB, and the secondary one (2790×46m) upgraded to CATII ILS standards. Its terminal is a new and sprawling L-shaped six-level integrated terminal of over 2,510,000 sq ft inaugurated in 2013, able to handle 25 million passengers per annum. It includes check-in counters that use CUTE (Common User Terminal Equipment) technology, 78 immigration counters, 12 customs counters, passenger lounges provided by Air India and Jet Airways, 18 aerobridges, 57 remote parking bays, 2 underground two-leveled carparks and car parking facilities in landscaped area capable of handling 5000 cars.

In August 1948, Knöchlein was formally arraigned on charges of war crimes, to which he pleaded not guilty. :The accused Fritz Knöchlein, a German national, in the charge of the Hamburg Garrison Unit, pursuant to Regulation 4 of the Regulations for the Trial of War Criminals, is charged with committing a war crime in that he in the vicinity of Paradis, Pas-de-Calais, France, on or about 27 May 1940, in violation of the laws and usages of war, was concerned in the killing of about ninety prisoners-of-war, members of The Royal Norfolk Regiment and other British Units. His trial began on Monday 11 October 1948 in Rotherbaum, and both Albert Pooley and William O'Callaghan were called to testify against him. Knöchlein's defence attorney claimed that Knöchlein had not been present on the day of the battle, and that the British forces had used illegal dumdum bullets during the battle.
