Sambandam discreetly brings the villagers to the Collector's residence at the same time when Lingeshwaran hands over his property documents, gold and silver, and makes them believe that, the Raja is a spy of the British and his handing over their property to the British.

The intention was to link Bremer with the Democrats. He decides to ruin and crush the boy, and orders Falco to plant marijuana on him, then have him arrested and roughed up by corrupt police lieutenant Harry Kello. It is such a dirty trick that even Falco wants no part of it, at least until Hunsecker, planning to take a long sea voyage with Susan to make her forget Dallas, promises to turn his column over to Falco in his absence. At the jazz club, Falco slips the marijuana cigarettes into a pocket of a coat belonging to Dallas, who is accosted by Kello outside the club and beaten so badly he ends up in the hospital.

Goldwater in his office at alt= Goldwater was grief-stricken by the assassination of Kennedy and was greatly disappointed that his opponent in 1964 would not be Kennedy but instead his Vice President, former Senate Majority Leader Lyndon B. Johnson of Texas. Goldwater disliked Johnson (saying he "used every dirty trick in the bag"), and Richard Nixon of California (whom he later called "the most dishonest individual I have ever met in my life"). After Goldwater again became a senator, he urged Nixon to resign at the height of the Watergate scandal, warning that fewer than 10 senators would vote against conviction if Nixon were impeached by the House of Representatives.
