NADL also has an independent board, the National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology, founded in 1955 as an independent certification organization. It administered the first Certified Dental Technician (CDT) tests in October 1958 and awarded the first CDT certificates in March of the following year.

Many veterinarians will use a Triadan chart to record the animal's dental problems for future reference. To help prevent dental problems, it is recommended to get a horse's teeth checked by a vet or equine dental technician every 6 months. However, regular checks may be needed more often for individuals, especially if the horse is very young or very old. Harold Mockford (born 1932) is a Sussex artist closely associated with the Towner Gallery in Eastbourne. Mockford was born in the town and developed an early talent for art in preference to other subjects at school. Later he attended evening classes at Eastbourne School of Art and continued with his painting while working as a dental technician. Born in Brasília, Distrito Federal, the daughter of a retired soldier, Fernandes finished high school and then started a course for dental technician that later ended up to become a model. After taking part at the Rede Record show Galera, Fernandes gained notoriety by participating as a dancer to the comedy show Festa do Mallandro hosted by Sérgio Mallandro on Rede Gazeta. In 1999 she sued Mallandro for sexual harassment, assault, threat and duress arguing that these events occurred during the time of the show. When Soft Machine acquired their first record deal, The Wilde Flowers decided they needed one too, and reconstituted themselves as Caravan. James Byron Dean was born on February 8, 1931 at the Seven Gables apartment on the corner of 4th Street and McClure Street in Marion, Indiana, the only child of Mildred Marie (Wilson) and Winton Dean. He also claimed that his father was partly Native American, and that his mother belonged to a "line of original settlers that could be traced back to the Mayflower". Born on 6 March 1945 in Copenhagen, Gudrun Bodil Nielsen was the third child of the dental technician Niels Otto Nielsen (1913–1952) and Ragnhild Eleonore Kirstine Hansen (1912–1992), a secretary. Heinz-Christian Strache (born 12 June 1969) is an Austrian politician and dental technician who served as Vice-Chancellor of Austria from 2017 to 2019 before resigning for treasonous behavior. He was also Minister of Civil Service and Sports from January 2018 to May 2019 and chairman of the Freedom Party (FPÖ) from April 2005 to May 2019. He previously served as a member of the National Council from October 2006 until December 2017 and as a member of the municipal council and state legislature of Vienna (2001–2006). In May 2019, footage from 2017 was released showing Strache suggesting he could offer business contracts in exchange for political support from a woman posing as the niece of a Russian oligarch.

Barry Buckley (1938–2006) was an Australian jazz double bassist and dental technician from Melbourne, a notable presence on the modern jazz scene for over 40 years. Stalin was wary of believing Hitler was dead, and restricted the release of information to the public. By 11 May, part of a lower jaw with dental work was identified as Hitler's; his dentist's assistant Käthe Heusermann and dental technician Fritz Echtmann both confirmed dental remains of Hitler and Braun.
