Located in a cooler and less humid area of the country, the Schuler Chocolates company itself was an amalgam of several candy companies, including the maker of the Chicken Dinner candy bar, originally created by Milwaukee-based Sperry Candy Company. The name was meant to convey a sense of wealth and prosperity à la "a chicken in every pot" (another of Sperry's big sellers was the Club Sandwich bar.) Thomas Alfred Vardon (11 October 1874 – 13 October 1938) was a professional golfer from Jersey, Channel Islands, and the brother of golfing icon Harry Vardon. The growing popularity of bacon has also encouraged product introductions such as bacon salt, maple bacon donuts, and baconnaise. Bacon food oddities include the bacon explosion ("a barbecued meat brick composed of 2 pounds of bacon wrapped around 2 pounds of sausage"), chicken-fried bacon, bacon-infused vodka, bacon ice cream, and chocolate-covered bacon, all popularized over the internet.

Like other groups before them, many of their dishes passed into the mainstream enough so that they became part of diner fare by the end of the 20th century, a type of restaurant that is now more numerous in this region than any other and formerly the subject matter of artist Edward Hopper. In the past this sort of establishment was the haven of the short order cook grilling or frying simple foods for the working man. Today typical service would include regional staples like beef on weck, Manhattan clam chowder, the club sandwich, Buffalo wings, Philadelphia cheesesteak, the black and white cookie, shoofly pie, snapper soup, Smith Island cake, grape pie, milkshakes, and the egg cream, a vanilla or chocolate fountain drink with a frothy top and fizzy taste. As in Hopper's painting from 1942, many of these businesses are open 24 hours a day.

Bayona (The Impossible, A Monster Calls), Baz Luhrmann (Romeo + Juliet), Alfonso Cuarón (Roma), Sebastián Cordero (Crónicas, Rabia and Europa Report), Floria Sigismondi (The Runaways), Claudia Llosa (Aloft), Fernando Eimbcke (Club Sandwich), Carlos Cuarón (Rudo y Cursi), Russell Mulcahy (Resident Evil: Extinction), among others. His first collaboration with J.A.Bayona on The Impossible, starring Naomi Watts, Ewan McGregor and Tom Holland, earned him a Goya nomination and an Art Directors Guild nomination in 2013. In 2014, Caballero designed the Paralympic Opening Ceremony of the 2014 Winter Olympics, for director Daniele Finzi, with whom he have also collaborated with the Cirque du Soleil in the show “Luzia” in 2016. In 2015 and 2016, he worked on the film A Monster Calls, also directed by J.A. Bayona and based on the multi awarded book by Patrick Ness, which earned him a “Goya” early this year on his third nomination to this award.

Contemporary scholarship holds that the shorter Prajñāpāramitā sūtras, using the Aṣṭasāhasrikā as the base, were redacted and expanded in the formation of the longer sūtras. As Jan Nattier characterises, > the evolution of the Aṣṭasāhasrikā-Prajñāpāramitā into the Pañcaviṃsati- > sāhasrikā through what we might call the “club sandwich” style of textual > formation: with the exception of the final chapters (30-32 in the Sanskrit > version) of the Aṣṭa-, which have no counterpart in the Sanskrit Pañca- and > apparently circulated separately before being incorporated into the Aṣṭa- > ... the [Pañca-] consists of the Aṣṭa- being “sliced” like a loaf of bread > and then layered with “fillings” introduced from other sources. Very little > of the text of the Aṣṭa- has been altered in the process, and only rarely > does a crumb of the “bread” seem to have dropped out. The Pañca- is not > simply related to the Aṣṭa-; it is the Aṣṭa-, with the addition of a number > of layers of new material.

As well as writing his own books, Lewisohn has written forewords to such books as Recording The Beatles by Brian Kehew and Kevin Ryan, Beatles Gear by Andy Babiuk and the German book Komm, gib mir deine Hand by Thorsten Knublauch and Axel Korinth. He has also contributed to In My Life: Lennon Remembered, a book to accompany the 10-part BBC radio series about John Lennon, and edited McCartney's book Wingspan, after working for a long time as editor and writer for McCartney's (now ceased) fanzine Club Sandwich. This led to him being invited by the former Beatle to write the liner notes for several of his albums, namely Flaming Pie, Band on the Run: 25th Anniversary Edition and Wingspan: Hits and History. He also wrote the liner notes for the retrospective six-CD box set Produced by George Martin – 50 Years in Recording, and the Beatles' albums 1 and The Capitol Albums, Volume 1.

The surname of Sir John Masterman, the MI5 agent and Oxford academic who ran the double-cross system during the Second World War, was used as the basis for the Masterton sisters; Alfred Whiting, the golf professional at Royal St George's Golf Club, Sandwich, became Alfred Blacking; while the Royal St George's Golf Club itself became the Royal St Mark's, for the game between Bond and Goldfinger. In June 1957 Fleming played in the Bowmaker Pro-Am golf tournament at the Berkshire Golf Club, where he partnered Peter Thomson, the winner of The Open Championship; much of the background went into the match between Bond and Goldfinger. One of Fleming's neighbours in Jamaica, and later his lover, was Blanche Blackwell; Fleming used Blanche as the model for Pussy Galore, although the name "Pussy" came from Mrs "Pussy" Deakin, formerly Livia Stela, an SOE agent and friend of Fleming's wife. Fleming's golf partner, John Blackwell (a cousin to Blanche Blackwell), was also a cousin by marriage to Ernő Goldfinger and disliked him: it was Blackwell who reminded Fleming of the name.
