By 1947, the government estimated that 64 percent of hospital patients had syphilis, and 37 percent of patients had other venereal diseases such as chancroid (chancre blando). Samples that can be used for diagnosis include chancre fluid, lymph node aspirates, blood, bone marrow, and, during the neurological stage, cerebrospinal fluid. Production design at Corner Theatre was best showcased in 1976 with Yeager's staging of C. Richard Gillespie's Marguerite, starring Linda Chambers, James Hild, and Bruce Johnson, and featuring an electronic score by recording artist Vangelis.
