After tests and modifications, it received its certificate of airworthiness on 3 October 1927. Sometime in that year it was fitted with a Salmson 7AC seven- cylinder radial engine. It was later sold to the state. After aileron flutter was induced in a full power dive, L'Ailes wrote an article characterising it as a reliable carthorse rather than a highly strung racehorse.

He experiences a dizzy spell with patterns appearing in his vision, and suddenly finds himself in another world devoid of civilization. He is accosted by a woman with the words "Anagram of 'carthorse'?" to which he instinctively replies "Orchestra".

Not valued by his new French owner, it is believed he was used as a carthorse. The horse was then imported from France by Edward Coke and sent to his stud at Longford Hall, Derbyshire, where he remained until the death of his owner in 1733. Tim, Graeme and Mrs Carthorse decide to end Bill's violent programming, but Bill, who has become obsessed with violence, goes on the rampage and wreaks havoc, resulting in the BBC Television Centre being destroyed, leaving "ITV back on top". In North America, though a small number of draft horses are also shown under saddle, the term "Draft horse showing" refers to a specific horse show competition that primarily features driving exhibitors presenting their horses to be judged in harness. Worldwide, some draft horse shows also feature riding classes. The driving events at these competitions are somewhat akin to fine harness classes at horse shows for light horses, though the four horse and larger hitch classes also resemble some aspects of combined driving.

Mrs. Desiree Carthorse (Beryl Reid, a deliberate parody of Mary Whitehouse) (subscription required) approaches The Goodies as the ideal people to make a clean sex education film about the facts of life. However, she thinks that S-E-X is a sin and does not want the word to be mentioned during the film. The Goodies respond with an absurdly coy film ("How to Make Babies by Doing Dirty Things") that could not possibly offend anyone, but the use of the word 'gender' in the opening credits disgusts her to such an extent that she refuses to watch the rest of the film and begins legal proceedings, at which point The Goodies learn that her husband "keeps his distance". The Goodies are then publicly attacked by everyone.

Draft horses and draft crossbreds are versatile breeds used today for a multitude of purposes, including farming, draft horse showing, logging, recreation, and other uses. They are also commonly used for crossbreeding, especially to light riding breeds such as the Thoroughbred, for the purpose of creating sport horses of warmblood type.
