The coat is characterized by its short and smooth appearance and is often red, brindle or fawn, but occasionally it can be a dull black. Maintenance of the coat is usually minimal.
Marshall retained his place for the next international, a return against Wales, played at Alexandra Meadows, Blackburn on 26 February 1881, where he lined up alongside another Darwen player, Thurston Rostron. With a "lucky" goal from Jack Vaughan, Wales secured their first victory over England at the third attempt. Marshall remained at Darwen until 1886, before retiring after a very short spell with Blackburn Olympic, where he was re-united with his former Darwen and England colleague, Thomas Brindle.
Brindle and Kerr, p. 31. The East Terrace has a private formal rose garden, first laid out by George IV in the 1820s. The present garden was updated by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, after it was used for victory garden production during World War II, tended in part by Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret. Chicago based Dave Cashman entered Monalee Pride following the brindle dog's disappointing National Produce Stakes campaign. Monalee Pride and his litter mates had cost Cashman £4,000 to buy. It was Own Pride that showed first in round one after winning in a fast 29.40 which shortened his odds further.
The Dutch Shepherd was discovered as a naturally occurring shepherd's dog type living in the rural areas of the larger region that today includes the Netherlands.Bosch, Bas (2002). The Dutch Breeds, Raad van Beheer Organization, The Netherlands, p. 24. When the first breed standard was written in 1898, the coat could be any colour, but in 1914, it was decided to allow only brindle to distinguish the breed from the then- similar German Shepherd and Belgian Shepherds.
The dog has a rough coat, which can be grey, black, brindle, brown or white. Height at the withers is about 56 to 60 cm for males, while females are a couple of centimeters shorter. A typical characteristic of the breed is the fiery expression of the eyes, whose position, unlike other dog breeds, is totally frontal, giving the dog a unique "monkey-like" appearance. Variability observed between individuals is likely due to the lack of selective pressures.
A GWR 4073 Class locomotive waits to depart, adjacent to Brunel's cast-iron bridge (April 1962) In 2003 while researching a book about the station, Steven Brindle, Inspector of Ancient Monuments for English Heritage (London region), discovered that Isambard Kingdom Brunel was responsible for the original Bishop's Bridge, and that the section he built over the canal was his first iron bridge and had a unique design. The bulb-headed cast iron girders used in this bridge would have an influence on the much longer wrought iron girders he would later develop in his balloon flange pattern. Unaware that they were intending to replace the bridge, by the time Brindle contacted Westminster City Council, their planning of the replacement project was at an advanced stage, with the main contract due to be signed the following week, and demolition due to take place 10 months later. Investigations determined that the canal section of Brunel's 1839 bridge had survived, as rebuilding work in 1906 had merely obscured it and caused it to be forgotten.
In the words of Steven Brindle the result was a "great and apparently architecturally unified palace... uniform in all sorts of ways, as to roof line, window heights, cornice line, floor and ceiling heights", echoing older designs but without any real defensive value.Steven Brindle, cited Nicolson, p. 125; Nicholson, p. 121. The wealthy John of Gaunt redesigned the heart of Kenilworth Castle, like Windsor the work emphasised a unifying, rectangular design and the separation of ground floor service areas from the upper stories and a contrast of austere exteriors with lavish interiors, especially on the 1st floor of the inner bailey buildings.Emery, pp. 205–206. By the end of the 14th century a distinctive English perpendicular style had emerged.Stokstad, p. 77. The late 14th-century tower keep of Warkworth Castle in England In the south of England private castles were being built by newly emerging, wealthy families; like the work at Windsor, these castles drew on the architectural themes of earlier martial designs, but were not intended to form a serious defence against attack.

"Marks, Craig & Tannebaum, Rob, I Want My MTV, Penguin Books, 2011, pp. 167–168 The network's director of music programming, Buzz Brindle, told an interviewer in 2006, "MTV was originally designed to be a rock music channel. It was difficult for MTV to find African American artists whose music fit the channel's format that leaned toward rock at the outset." Writers Craig Marks and Rob Tannenbaum noted that the channel "aired videos by plenty of white artists who didn't play rock.
Regan was the original financier behind the online fashion retailer ASOS plc, which is now the UK's largest independent online fashion retailer. The 2019 Boylesports Irish Greyhound Derby took place during August and September, with the final being held on 21 September at Shelbourne Park. The winner was the Graham Holland trained Lenson Bocko. The brindle dog owned by the Lochead-Ponder-Whelan syndicate (Graham Box, Austin Whelan and Len Ponder) won the first prize of €140,000. The second round saw Boher Ash eliminated but Mick the Miller won by 8 lengths in 30.45 at odds of 4-1 on. Buckna Boy defeated Palatinus and another greyhound called Entomb equalled Mick the Miller's time of 30.45 in winning.
As a result, architect Sir William Whitfield has pointed to Windsor Castle's architecture as having "a certain fictive quality", the Picturesque and Gothic design generating "a sense that a theatrical performance is being put on here", despite late 20th century efforts to expose more of the older structures to increase the sense of authenticity.Nicolson, p.78; Brindle and Kerr, p. 61. Although there has been some criticism, the castle's architecture and history lends it a "place amongst the greatest European palaces".
They began gaining support among the disenfranchised and the Liberal Republicans. For their part, the Brindle Tails mockingly referred to the Carpetbaggers and Claytonist Republicans as "the Minstrels", and that name stuck as well. This moniker can probably be traced to John G. Price, the editor of the Little Rock Republican and a staunch Clayton supporter. Price was known to be a good musician and comedian and had even once filled in for a sick performer in a minstrel show, complete with blackface.
The body is full with no appearance of spine or ribs. Skinnies can come in a variety of skin colors and patterns, including "Dutch", "Brindle", and "Himalayan". The term "skinny" is used for hairless guinea pigs either because it colloquially refers to the exposed skin of the animal, or because it describes their thinner appearance due to their lack of hair. The modern breed of skinny pig originated from a cross between haired guinea pigs and a hairless lab strain.
Anisolabis howarthi is a blind, troglobite species of earwig in the genus Anisolabis, the family Anisolabididae, the suborder Forficulina, and the order Dermaptera. The species is native to Hawaii, and was first classified by Brindle in 1979. According to a paper published by him in 1980 in the journal Pacific Insects, the species is first known true troglobite earwig; while there are other blind species that live underneath soil or humus, this is the first to actually inhabit a cave.

The story is about an orphaned girl called Jessamy, age unstated but about nine to eleven, who lived with one aunt during school term and another during school holidays. Both aunts were superficially affectionate, but neither paid heed to her as a person. The book begins with her arrival unaccompanied by train, to find that her "holiday" aunt's uncongenial children had caught whooping cough. Jessamy had to be farmed out for the summer to Miss Brindle, the childless caretaker of an empty Victorian mansion: Posset Place.
Later, Billy and Jessamy fixed a swing to an old bough of the mulberry tree, which broke off, revealing the book of hours hidden in a crack, just where the tree house had been. It was damp and discoloured, but Miss Brindle showed it to the house agent, who showed it to the owner of Posset Place. He was delighted to have it, for when the present-day Jessamy visited him at his request, he turned out to be the aged Kitto. Dramatic irony appears.
The English has the widest color variation of the coonhound breeds, coming in redtick, bluetick, and tricolor patterns. The Bluetick Coonhound and tricolored Treeing Walker Coonhound were originally considered varieties of the English, but were split off and recognized as different breeds by 1946 and 1945, respectively. The Plott Hound, a dark brindle in color, was the last to be recognized, in 1946. It is the only coonhound that does not descend from foxhounds; instead, its ancestry traces back to German boar-hunting dogs.
Throughout the years the track would switch between fully licensed affiliation and independent status (unaffiliated to a governing body) but would boast an English Greyhound Derby finalist in 1945. The greyhound Lilacs Luck (winner of the Irish Greyhound Derby) had been put with trainer Mr R Jones and he steered the blue brindle to runner up behind Mondays News. A year later he also won the Wembley Gold Cup. In 1947 the tote turnover was a healthy £147,357 when still licensed by the NGRC.
Industrial melanism is known from over 70 species of moth that Kettlewell found in England, and many others from Europe and North America., which cites Kettlewell 1973. Among these, Apamea crenata (clouded border brindle moth) and Acronicta rumicis (knot grass moth) are always polymorphic, though the melanic forms are more common in cities and (like those of the peppered moth) are declining in frequency as those cities become less polluted. Among other insects, industrial melanism has been observed in a beetle, Adalia bipunctata, the two-spot ladybird.
The Kuchi (or Afghan, Pashtun call them "Ghiljak" or "Kucchi") Shepherd is an Afghan livestock guardian dog, taking its name from the Kuchi people of Afghanistan. It is a working dog following the nomads, protecting caravans and flocks of sheep, goats, camels and other livestock from wolves, big cats and thieves. It is sometimes known as just a local variant of the Central Asian Shepherd Dog and its status as a distinct breed is disputable. The Afghan Kucchi is usually brindle grey and dark black stripes.
The St Leger went to Satans Baby (winner of the 1934 and 1935 Daily Mirror Trophy) after defeating a field that including Bosham. Kitshine completed a successful season when winning the Oaks. Then in heat three of the first round, a brindle dog called Prince of Bermuda was fast away and gained an easy victory; when the time was announced as 28.98 the Irish greyhound world was left stunned. The 29 second barrier had been broken for the first time. Both of the greyhounds won their second round heats with Prince of Bermuda posting 29.20. In the semi-finals the pair met in the same heat with Prince of Bermuda defeating his main rival by three lengths in 29.35.
Merle can affect all coat colors. The merle forms of brown and black are usually called "red" (though this is not correct; red and brown are genetically different) and "blue" as patches of blue are formed throughout the coat. Dogs who are recessive red can still be affected by merle, but the patches are either hardly seen or, if the dog is a clear recessive red, are not visible at all. Combinations such as brindle and sable merle exist, but are not typically accepted in breed standards.
One year later in 1934 Greenfield was represented by a greyhound called Deemsters Mike in the English Greyhound Derby final. The brindle dog trained by Fred Livesly also went on to win the Northern Flat. The track was described as a well laid out course with a good run-in to the finish and suitable for all types of runners. There was an 'Outside Sumner' hare and race distances of 310, 500, 650 and 700 yards on a circuit with a 420-yard circumference.
A brindle Spanish Mastiff The Spanish Mastiff (mastiff) originated in the Spanish territories of Asturias, Cantabria, the Province of León and the Province of Zamora. In medieval times, it has accompanied the herds of sheep crossing from northern to southern Spain, defending cattle from attack by wolves and other predators. The mastiff had the protection of chunky metal necklaces with skewers. Its function was primarily protective, unlike its fellow Carea dogs, whose function is grazing, driving the herds in response to indications of the shepherd.
All colored dogs should have a black nose and black pigment around the eyes, with the exception of chocolate (brown) dogs, which may have dark brown pigment on their nose instead. Examples of coat colors are white, cream, fawn, red, chocolate brown, beige, gold, silver, blue, and black. The coat may be one solid color or have markings in one or more other colors. For example, sable, brindle, black & tan, tri-color, Irish pied, parti colored, belton, or piebald, black and white, beige black, and white.
During its brief lifespan an all-star team went through there, including Buzz Brindle, Jack Casey, Dick Downes (using Bob Lawrence), G. A diverse set of subtropical rainforest flora is preserved along Brindle Creek. Lower areas of the park contain eucalypt forests that provide habitat for eastern grey kangaroos, red-necked wallabies and koalas. Pademelons and potoroo are also found in the park as well as a diverse array of birdlife including the rare Albert's lyrebird. The park is part of the Scenic Rim Important Bird Area, identified as such by BirdLife International because of its importance in the conservation of several species of threatened birds.
England were thus left to chase 75 for the Ashes, but Emma Liddell did not want to be beaten, and her pace trapped Laura Newton and Jenny Gunn lbw in the second over as England lost their first two wickets for one run. However, Liddell could not make any further breakthroughs, and even though England lost Connor and Edwards to Fitzpatrick - both lbw - Arran Brindle batted out an hour for 24 not out to see England to the target about three hours before the scheduled close.
A puppy gifted to Fitz by Lady Patience and with whom he forms a Wit-bond. He is described as a small brindle terrier, and his temperament is playfully fierce. Two brindle dogs called Pigalle Wonder and Mile Bush Pride were heavily involved in the 1958 Derby and would become famous names within the sport of greyhound racing. Pigalle Wonder started his career called Prairie Champion and won the 1957 McCalmont Cup at Kilkenny Greyhound Stadium. He was bought by Al Burnett (owner of the Pigalle Club in London) after clocking 29.10 sec in a 525 yards trial at Harold's Cross Stadium and was renamed Pigalle Wonder. However in the first round he suffered a shock defeat.

In 1990 he trained Fires of War, who reached the 1990 English Greyhound Derby final.. The following year Coalbrook Suzie reached the final of the Oaks and Grand Prix before Deanpark Atom won the Pall Mall Stakes in 1992. He also recorded two Puppy Derby successes with Murlens Support and Lughill Slippy.
Sallie Ann Jarrett, Civil War mascot. An American Staffordshire Terrier Sallie Ann Jarrett was the canine mascot of the 11th Pennsylvania Infantry, accompanying the soldiers throughout nearly the entire American Civil War, until she was killed in action in February 1865. Sallie, as the men would come to call her, was born in the spring of 1861 and was described by Colonel Richard Coulter as "a brindle, bull-terrier, of a fine breed," who "showed marks of blood."Bates, Samuel P., "Martial Deeds of Pennsylvania," 1875, p. 1103.

Victarion describes some people as "squat and hairy as the apes of Sothoros", and some people fighting in Daznak's Pit for Daenerys's entertainment in A Dance with Dragons are described as "brindle-skinned half- men from the jungles of Sothoros". Martin said that, unlike other peoples in the novels, the brindled men of Sothoryos were pure fantasy constructs.

The Vancouver campus is led by Training Principal Nicole Brindle.
They are a square breed, which means they are as long as they are tall with males usually larger than females. Basenjis are athletic dogs, and deceptively powerful for their size. They have a graceful, confident gait like a trotting horse, and skim the ground in a double suspension gallop, with their characteristic curled tail straightened out for greater balance when running at their top speed. Basenjis come in a few different colorations: red, black, tricolor, and brindle, and they all have white feet, chests and tail tips.
The area does not have a long industrial past. As late as 1960, the area remained largely rural despite the then recent construction of the Preston By-pass section of the new M6 motorway.Lancashire Country Council, 'MARIO: Mapping - (1960s overlay)' Despite this, the area was important toward the south east near Brindle as the summit of the Lancaster Canal's Walton Summit canal basin. After a short rest during the winter the brindle dog won his first ten races and was again on course to beat Mick the Miller's world record for consecutive wins. However his attempt was unsuccessful when he was again beaten by Laughing Lackey, at White City. His career came to an end in the Stewards' Cup when he pulled up lame and was retired to stud. At stud he was the first stud dog in history to command a 100 guineas mating fee but he failed to sire any offspring of note.
One year later it was decided to introduce the Easter Cup which commemorated the 1916 Easter Monday Rising in Dublin. However the race soon became known for its own fame rather than its naming origins. The first winner was a greyhound called Odd Blade and the brindle dog went on to successfully defend his title the following year. Famously Mick the Miller equalled the world record time for 500 yards when recording 28.80 in 1928 but he only managed runner up spot to Odd Blade in that previously mentioned 1929 Easter Cup final.
He started his 1992 campaign by successfully defending his Easter Cup crown and becoming only the third greyhound to do so and emulating Odd Blade and Spanish Battleship. He also became the first greyhound to break 29 seconds at Shelbourne on four separate occasions. The connections of the blue and brindle dog then decided to travel to England and compete in the 1992 English Greyhound Derby at Wimbledon Stadium. Farloe Melody steadily progressed through the rounds and by the semi finals was still one of the favourites to claim the title.
Many of the major competitions were postponed until 1945, classic races the Scurry Gold Cup, Cesarewitch and St Leger were some of the biggest casualties. The Joe Harmon trained brindle, Juvenile Classic, completed a second successful campaign in the Grand National. He had finished runner up the previous year and had won it during 1938. The Gold Collar followed the Grand National as usual and the Wembley trained Cash Balance stopped Grosvenor Ferdinand, now trained by Jack Harvey, from becoming the first greyhound to defend the title successfully.
This was extended to 331-6 declared before lunch on the second day, Sarah Elliott completing her maiden Test century. Arran Brindle departed early, but a flowing fifty partnership from Heather Knight and Sarah Taylor put England in the ascendancy. Taylor was dismissed by Holly Ferling as England dramatically slumped to 113-6 and were in sudden danger of being forced to follow on. That they did not was due to a partnership of 156 between Knight and Laura Marsh, which ultimately saw England cede only a lead of 17 to Australia.
This track garnered much critical praise, with some reviewers considering it one of the best tracks from the mixtape. Reginald Smith Brindle, The New Music, Oxford University Press, 1987, pp. 42–43 Elements of music such as its form, rhythm and metre, the pitches of its notes and the tempo of its pulse can be related to the measurement of time and frequency, offering ready analogies in geometry. The attempt to structure and communicate new ways of composing and hearing music has led to musical applications of set theory, abstract algebra and number theory. Some composers have incorporated the golden ratio and Fibonacci numbers into their work.
Pelorus Jack was first seen around 1888 when it appeared in front of the schooner Brindle when the ship approached French Pass, a channel located between D'Urville Island and the South Island. When the members of the crew saw the dolphin bobbing up and down in front of the ship, they wanted to kill him, but the captain's wife talked them out of it. To their amazement, the dolphin then proceeded to guide the ship through the narrow channel. And for years thereafter, he safely guided almost every ship that came by.
Brindle and Kerr, p. 44. The defensive features, however, were primarily for show, possibly to provide a backdrop for jousting between the two-halves of the Order of the Garter. Sands was one of six players who made their England debut in this match which England won 3–2 with two goals scored by Francis Sparks of Clapham Rovers. Thomas Brindle had to leave the game in the second half due to injury, and England played on with ten men.Wales 2 England 3, 15 March 1880 (Match summary) Sands continued to play for Nottingham Forest until 1883, his final recorded appearance being in an FA Cup replay in January 1883. There is little recorded about his career outside football.
In fawn, red, and brindle variations the black mask is preferred. The withers height of the female Kintamani dog is 44–52 cm, 49–57 cm for the male, about the same as the stature of the Bali street dog. The desired physical traits of the Kintamani dog include erect ears, forwardly curved tail held at the midline, medium to longhaired coat, almond-shaped brown eyes, and black skin pigment. Bali street dogs come in many colors and coat patterns, and they are almost always shorthaired and straight- to curve- tailed.
A brindle Cairn Terrier A red/wheaten Cairn Terrier The Cairn Terrier has a harsh weather-resistant outer coat that can be black, cream, wheaten, red, sandy, gray, or brindled in any of these colors. Pure black, black and tan, and white are not permitted by many kennel clubs. While registration of white Cairns was once permitted, after 1917, the American Kennel Club required them to be registered as West Highland White Terriers. A notable characteristic of Cairns is that brindled Cairns frequently change colour throughout their lifetimes.
Whittle-le-Woods (commonly shortened to Whittle) is a village and civil parish of the Borough of Chorley in Lancashire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 5,434. Whittle-le-Woods lies on the A6, about three miles north of the town of Chorley, and to the south of the city of Preston. It is divided into two areas, the older part on the old coach road running through Waterhouse Green to Brindle and the more modern part on the A6 road where the church of St John is situated.
Manx Treasure, a brindle dog, had a toe amputated in January 1992 before he had even competed in a single race. When he made his comeback in June he progressed well before suffering a stress fracture on his hock curtailing his recovery. With the Respond Irish Derby fast approaching the dog recovered well and took his place in the qualifying round. In the first round Manx Treasure was bumped running from a bad draw and finished last but four days later he won by ten lengths in 30.67 in the repechage round.
In the qualifying round Eyeman trained by Eddie Wade equalled Dew Reward's track record of 29.97 and immediately became the favourite for the competition. Larkhill Jo then posted a very fast 30.00 and the original ante-post favourite Plasterscene Gem drifted in the betting despite winning his heat. In the second round the fastest winners were She Will Survive in 30.24, Westpark Lemon and Droopys Eric in 30.25. Eyeman then broke the Shelbourne track record again in the quarter finals, the brindle dog stopped the clock at 29.92.
Greenane Squire won again and 1992 Irish Greyhound Derby finalist Radical Prince impressed. Under heavy conditions following torrential rain, Lisglass Lass made it no further than the quarter-finals and in the first semi-final a pile up resulted in Radical Prince winning his race by 10 lengths from Daleys Denis and Kenmare Gem in 30.33. The second semi-final resulted in Carrigeen Blaze winning ahead of Drumsna Queen and Ballygroman Bill in 30.20. In the final Daleys Denis, a white and brindle dog, trained by Brendan Mullan was bred in Surrey by John O’Brien.
Brindle was aware that BHC would not be paid until the SR.N4 was in service, and thus there was a considerable emphasis placed on getting the craft ready for commercial use right at the point of delivery.Paine and Syms 2012, pp. 309-310. In August 1968, the first SR.N4 entered commercial service with the Princess Margaret being initially operated by Seaspeed between Dover and Boulogne, but later craft also traversed the Ramsgate (Pegwell Bay) to Calais route as well. In 1971, the Princess Margaret featured in the James Bond film "Diamonds Are Forever".
Brindle, currently disallowed by the main breed standards, is considered by some to be a traditional Rat Terrier pattern, and there is a growing movement to have this pattern accepted into the breed. However, merle is widely considered to be the result of recent outcrosses and, because of associated health problems, is rejected by most Rat Terrier breeders. Rat Terriers usually have naturally erect ears and an alert expression. Ear carriage is erect, but can also be tipped, or button, all of which contribute to an intelligent, alert expression.
Gay McKenna's Monalee Champion went out at this stage but would become a major breeding success. Always Proud the 5-4 favourite duly obliged in the final to seal a second successive victory for Gay McKenna. The brindle dog had been knocked out of the 1965 Irish Derby in the third round after which his English owner Albert Lucas put him with Gay McKenna. Failure a year later in the English Derby second round was put down to him being off-colour (sick) before he returned to Ireland.
The resulting puppies were all consistent with the inheritance pattern of a yellow Labrador with black pigment. The most probable cause was either a somatic mutation early in development or a fusion between two zygotes that left some cells with genetics capable of producing dark fur, and others including the reproductive cells incapable of doing so. Other “mis-marks” such as brindle, tan points, white spots, and rings around the tails are not uncommon in Labradors. Each of these conditions have various underlying genetic as well as environmental causes.
A calico is not to be confused with a tortoiseshell, which has a mostly mottled coat of black/orange or grey/cream with relatively few to no white markings. However, outside North America, the calico pattern is more usually called tortoiseshell and white. In the province of Quebec, Canada, they are sometimes called chatte d'Espagne (French for '(female) cat of Spain'). Other names include brindle, tricolor cat, mike neko (三毛猫) (Japanese for 'triple fur'), and lapjeskat (Dutch for 'patches cat'); calicoes with diluted coloration have been called calimanco or clouded tiger.
A brindle Bull Terrier showing head profile, triangular eyes, robust and very muscular body The Bull Terrier's most recognizable feature is its head, described as 'egg-shaped head', when viewed from the front; the top of the skull is almost flat. The profile curves gently downwards from the top of the skull to the tip of the nose, which is black and bent downwards at the tip, with well-developed nostrils. The lower jaw is deep and strong. The unique triangular eyes are small, dark, and deep-set.
The two Tests formed The Women's Ashes, an accolade that England had not won since 1963. In the first Test, Taylor scored a patient 35 runs in the first innings, and shared a partnership of 81 with Edwards, but the pair fell in quick succession, and England struggled thereafter. In the second innings, England required over 300 runs to win, but their top-order collapsed, losing three wickets for just fourteen runs. Taylor suffered a duck in the match, and only a century by Arran Brindle rescued a draw for her side.
At 10.15pm, on Saturday 28 June, before a crowd of 55,000 Mondays News was hoping to emulate Mick the Miller by winning a second Derby. Mondays News broke in front but moved wide at the first bend allowing Trev's Perfection inside him. The brindle dog resisted the efforts of the favourite and ran out a two length winner, in a new Derby final best time. It was the first time 29 seconds had been broken in the Derby final and it was also the first time the Derby had been won from trap two.
Born in Brindle, Lancashire, he became head gardener to George Hibbert, who was an enthusiastic amateur botanist. Hibbert became caught up in the craze for cultivating Proteaceae, and as a result Knight became adept at their cultivation and propagation. He eventually set himself to write a book on their cultivation, which would be published in 1809 under the title On the cultivation of the plants belonging to the natural order of Proteeae. Despite the title, this book contained only 13 pages related to cultivation techniques, but over 100 pages of taxonomic revision.

Ford and bridge over the River Lostock at Cuerden Valley Park The River Lostock is a river in Lancashire, England. The source of the Lostock is at the confluence of Slack Brook and Whave's Brook at the entrance to Miller Wood near Withnell Fold. Slack Brook drains an area around Brindle, having its source close to Thorpe Green just outside the village, whereas Whave's Brook rises near Brimmicroft and runs southwards, almost parallel to the Leeds and Liverpool Canal by Ollerton Fold. Whave's Brook is fed by Laund Brook, running northwards from close to Withnell.
The following season, Alastair was in the side that finished second in the league and reached the 1961 Championship Final at Odsal, only to lose out to Leeds. In 1962/3 he played in the Warrington side that just missed out on reaching Wembley, losing to Wakefield in the semi- final. Brindle was part of the Warrington side that beat Rochdale to win the Lancashire Cup in 1965 which would be Alastair's second and final trophy with Warrington. In 1965, Alastair played against the touring New Zealand side at Wilderspool which Warrington lost 7-14.
The "Brooks–Baxter War" was a factional dispute, 1872–74 that culminated in an armed confrontation in 1874 between factions of the Arkansas Republican Party over the disputed 1872 election for governor. The victor in the end was the "Minstrel" faction led by carpetbagger Elisha Baxter over the "Brindle Tail" faction led by Joseph Brooks, which included most of the scalawags. The dispute weakened both factions and the entire Republican Party, enabling the sweeping Democratic victory in the 1874 state elections.Earl F. Woodward, "The Brooks and Baxter War in Arkansas, 1872–1874", Arkansas Historical Quarterly (1971) 30#4 pp.
Spectre II also won the Midlands St Leger at Wolverhampton. Monalee Champion trained by Frank Conlon broke Fearless Mac's White City track record when winning the Longcross Cup, winning his semi-final by 16 lengths and defeating Tric-Trac in the final. After running up in the Gold Collar final his preparations for the English Derby were hit when Conlon lost his licence and the dog was transferred to Vicky Holloway. Carry on Oregon, a brindle dog, came to prominence by lifting the Scurry Gold Cup in July and within a month the Laurels at Wimbledon Stadium was won.
Peruvian Style, a light brindle 1973 whelp owned by Deirdre Hynes and trained by Tony Fahy had been beaten in the 1,000 Guineas final by Lively Band at Dundalk. Following this he went on to win the Tipperary Cup, made the semi-finals of the Laurels, won the Harp Lager Stakes at Dundalk and the Waterford Glass Stakes breaking the track record. Twelve consecutive wins were achieved after a Shelbourne Park event win before a winter rest. The Ger McKenna trained Ballybeg Prim was voted Irish Greyhound of the Year after winning the Irish Cesarewitch, Irish St Leger and the Shelbourne 600.
Brindle is elated as he will be able to retire early. Prunella is not so happy, but she and Julian quickly land other jobs. Rod, realizing that the staff of the museum will not be so fortunate, decides to campaign to save the collection (however, the closure plot is wrapped up rather abruptly four episodes into the initial run, though Rod's efforts to attract more visitors continue into season two). In the second series it is revealed that the museum's endowment originally came from the company "Joshua Maltby & Sons", a manufacturer of porcelain toilets in Blackburn.
The American Kennel Club describes this as a "significant factor and a critical part of the judging process." It is not done to measure the size of the chest, but rather to feel for the correct shape. Under the show standard, there are several physical points which would be treated as faults in the show ring. These are for the height of the dog at the withers to be outside of the standard range, or for the dog to possess either pricked up ears, a liver or brown coloured nose, an overshot or undershot jawline or to have brindle markings.
Two years later in 1957 a greyhound called Prairie Champion took the honours; this brindle would have his name changed to Pigalle Wonder who went on to win the 1958 English Greyhound Derby. The circuit has been described as both a good galloping track and too tight which is probably because of the slightly odd shape of the track. In addition to the McCalmont Cup the track hosted two other popular events called the Hurst Cup and Great Whistler Cup. Jimmy Kinahan was the Racing Manager when the track opened back in 1946 and remained so until his death in 1978.

Elliot Brindle, a meek salesman, loses his job despite his debt and the people who depend on him: Michael, his mentally handicapped brother; Shelby, his pregnant fiancée; and Samson, his abusive father. Elliot receives a mysterious phone call that offers him $1,000 to assertively kill a fly that has been harassing him. After Elliot checks his bank account online and sees that he has been credited, he accepts the next challenge: to eat the dead fly. The caller explains that he will be offered a series of thirteen challenges, each of which will result in greater rewards.
Altamatzin won the Welsh Greyhound Derby before defeating Mick the Miller in a match race on 15 August, at the Welsh White City. Future Cutlet secured a second major trophy by virtue of winning the Laurels at Wimbledon. Another greyhound that had appeared during the year was a brindle dog called Wild Woolley, the April 1930 whelp, came to prominence when winning the Trafalgar Puppy Cup. Bradshaw Fold confirmed her status as the leading bitch by reaching a third consecutive Oaks final but a third place finish meant that she would retire with only a Coronation Stakes to her name.
Quite variable in appearance since it never had a defined breed standard, it is appreciated in Sardinia, but is practically unknown in the rest of Italy. In Sardinia, this dog is commonly called jagaru, sorgolìnu, trighinu, beltigadu, pastore gavoese, cani perdigatzu, alano di bonorva and cane Sardo antico, as well as the Dogo Sardesco or Dogo Sardo. It is a very athletic molosser-type dog, agile, resistant, strong, and of great size. It is a working, intimidating-looking dog, with a coat usually reddish-brown, gold, gray, black or brindle with short to medium-sized hairs.
Black, fawns (red, apricot, or dark), and brindled (fawn, black, or brown brindle) colors are permitted, except mouse-grey, black and tan, blue, dappled and solid white. White markings, not exceeding 1/4 of the coat surface area, are permitted on the feet, the chest and the tip of the tail in the FCI standard. The CAFIB standard does not accept black, mouse-grey, black and tan, blue, or dappled coats, as it considers them as a sign of crossbreeding; on the other hand, it accepts dogs with large white markings on any part of the body.
The brindle dog arrived in the United Kingdom during February 1949 and was placed in the Hook Estate and Kennels training out of White City. His first race in England was at Stamford Bridge on 14 May. He was aimed at the 1949 English Greyhound Derby at White City and was described as the Greyhound Racing Association's best chance to claim the trophy but crashed out in the first round in heat six. Nicholl switched trainers and put him with Stan Martin at Wimbledon Stadium which proved to be a wise decision because Ballymac Ball was an instant hit at the track.
Dark-coloured dogs typically have a black nose, while light-coloured dogs typically have a brown nose. Eyes may be any color, and typically have a black or very dark rim. Starting in the 2000s, some Hortaya were exported to parts of Europe and North America (see below), where a breed standard for a new, as-yet unnamed subtype was established. Among these dogs, coat colour and colour combinations are restricted to a few types: white, black, cream of all shades, red, sable and brindle, solid or piebald (with white markings, or white with coloured markings).
Terry as Toto with Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz (1939) In the 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz, Toto was played by a female brindle Cairn Terrier named Terry. She was paid a $125 salary each week, which was more than some of the human actors (the Singer Midgets who played the Munchkins reportedly received $50 to $100 a week). Terry/Toto's memorial at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery During production, Terry's foot was broken when one of the Winkie guards accidentally stepped on it. A second dog had to be used while she healed.
Charles W. Morgan in dry-dock undergoing restoration Charles W. Morgan arrived at Mystic Seaport in December 1941, and she was declared a National Historic Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966.and In 1971, Melbourne Brindle of Bridgeport, Connecticut designed four commemorative stamps of historic landmarks including the Morgan. For the first 30 years at Mystic Seaport, she was surrounded by a bed of sand to prevent her from sinking. Even so, she was open to the public and was the centerpiece of a recreated 19th century maritime village museum inspired by Colonial Williamsburg.
Marshall was born in the village of Withnell, approximately midway between Chorley, Blackburn and Darwen. After playing junior football in Lancashire, he joined Darwen in 1878. Described as "a speedy winger with an accurate passing ability", he was selected for the second international match against Wales, played at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground on 15 March 1880. The match ended in a 3–2 victory for the English, with two goals from Francis Sparks and the other from Marshall's Darwen teammate, Thomas Brindle (although some sources credit this as an own goal by the Welsh goalkeeper, Harry Hibbott).
The church was previously a Benedictine monastery, the Priory of St. Thomas the Martyr of Up Holland. A Catholic seminary, St Joseph's College, used for training Catholic priests, was once based in Up Holland. The college closed down in 1987 after over 150 years of serving the northern Catholic dioceses of England, and its extensive buildings are now derelict. Notable former students include the historian Paul Addison, Tony Brindle-Wills, comedians Tom O'Connor and Johnny Vegas, the libel lawyer George Carman, pop musician Paddy McAloon of Prefab Sprout, the editor of the Jerusalem Bible, and former British Member of Parliament John Battle.
Senator Clayton issued a statement saying that "Brooks was fairly elected in 1872; and kept out of office by fraud." Governor Baxter was now being supported by the Brindle Tails, re-enfranchisers, and the Democrats; whereas Brooks was finding support among the Claytonists, Northerners, Unionists, the Minstrel Republicans. Brooks was assigned three prominent Minstrel attorneys, and after a year of sitting on the docket, at about 11 AM on April 15, 1874, Baxter's demurrer to Brook's complaint was suddenly called up. Neither of Baxter's lawyers were present in the court room, and the demurrer had been submitted without their knowledge.
The 1872 gubernatorial election resulted in a narrow victory for Minstrel Elisha Baxter over Brindle Tail Joseph Brooks in an election marked by fraud and intimidation. Brooks challenged the result through legal means, initially without success, but Baxter alienated much of his base by re-enfranchising former Confederates and in 1874, Brooks was declared governor by a county judge who declared the results of the election to have been fraudulent. Brooks took control of the government by force, but Baxter refused to resign. Each side was supported by its own militia of several hundred Black men.
The South Mountains, carved out of the Blue Ridge by erosion, are a broad belt of peaks and knobs rising abruptly from a deep valley. These steep, rugged mountains encompass 100,000 acres (404 km²) in Burke, Cleveland and Rutherford counties. The Catawba Valley and the gaps across the mountain ranges to the west were once major travel routes. The South Mountains served as a buffer zone between the Cherokee and the Catawba Indians, and the first European settlers in the area farmed the fertile land along the Catawba River. In 1828, gold was discovered at Brindle Creek.
The site's damp woodland supports a number of uncommon moths including Acasis viretata, the yellow-tarred brindle; Aporophyla nigra, the black rustic; and Idaea straminata, the plain wave moth. It also supports a ground beetle, Pterostichus cristatus found only in Northumberland and Durham; and a number of rare spiders including Centromerus persimilis. Alpine penny-cress (Thlaspi alpestre) found at the site indicates heavy metal contamination of the river probably arising from mineral mines in the river's catchment area. The condition of Allen Confluence Gravels was judged to be favourable in 2010, although concern was expressed about the incidence of Himalayan balsam (Impatiens glandulifera).
If both parents are liver, then all puppies will be liver-spotted. Other colors that occur occasionally but are not desired, include blue (a blue-grayish color), brindle, mosaic, orange or lemon (dark to pale yellow) or tricolored (with black, liver & orange/lemon spots), none are within breed standards. Another coloration fault is a larger solid patch of color, which appears anywhere on the body, but most often on the head, ears, or tail. Patches are visible at birth and are not a group of connected spots; they are identifiable by the smooth edge of the patch.
Brindle Japanese Akitas The story of Hachikō, the most revered Akita of all time, helped push the Akita into the international dog world. Hachikō was born in 1923 and owned by Professor Hidesaburō Ueno of Tokyo. Professor Ueno lived near the Shibuya Train Station in a suburb of the city and commuted to work every day on the train. Hachikō accompanied his master to and from the station each day. On May 25, 1925, when the dog was 18 months old, he waited for his master's arrival on the four o'clock train, but Professor Ueno had a fatal brain haemorrhage at work.
He resigned in 1901 and in 1904 was transferred to the titular Archbishopric of Seleucia. The Rt Rev. Robert Brindle, Bagshawe's successor, was born at Liverpool on 4 November 1837. The first Roman Catholic chaplain to receive the pension for distinguished and meritorious service, as well as Turkish and Egyptian orders and medals, he was, after his retirement from the army in 1899, on the petition of Cardinal Herbert Vaughan, third Archbishop of Westminster, appointed his assistant, and on the resignation of Dr Bagshawe, received his Brief to the See of Nottingham on 6 November 1901.
Together with Caroline Atkins, Brindle set the world record for women's cricket when they put on an unbeaten 150-run opening partnership in a Test against India at K. D. Singh Babu Stadium in Lucknow. She represented England women in 9 Test matches and 58 one-day internationals from 2000–2005, scoring a century in the first Test against Australia at Hove in 2005 and eight ODI fifties. In 2006, she decided to take a break from top-level cricket to spend more time with her family. She continues to play club cricket in the Lincolnshire ECB Men's Premier League for Louth.
On January 28, 2011 a critic wrote on CraveOnline, "The ill-fated love affair of a prissy barmaid and a retired, egomaniacal relief pitcher made an art out of teasing a love story ... ", ranking Cheers one of the "Best TV Romance Shows". In the March 2, 2011 issue of the Chicago Sun Times, Walter Podrazik wrote that both characters were the focus of Cheers. However, since Shelley Long departed from the series in 1987, Podrazik observed that the series changed its focus into an ensemble. On March 11, 2011, Beth Brindle of HowStuffWorks called their relationship "completely unrealistic".
Priceless Border was a short ante post favourite at odds of 5-1, the brindle dog had been unlucky during the 1947 English Greyhound Derby and had already won the Wood Lane Stakes at White City. In the heats he broke his own track record with a 28.64 win. Another favourite Local Interprize missed the break in his heat and failed to pick up the leader Mazurka in a slow time of 29.24, but still qualified. Other notable first round winners who dipped under the 29 second barrier were Cheerful Comedy 28.95 and Don Gipsey 28.98.
Trafalgar Cup champion Magourna Reject, owned by Mrs Frances Chandler and trained by Noreen Collin was the ante post favourite for the 1952 Derby, the blue brindle and white dog had never been out of the first three in his career to date. Three times Derby winning trainer Leslie Reynolds was represented by the defending champion Ballylanigan Tanist and a newcomer called Endless Gossip. Black Mire reappearing after injury was another fancied to do well. Endless Gossip recorded 28.52 seconds, in winning by ten lengths and recording a sectional split of 15.94, the first ever greyhound to break 16 seconds.
A brindle Swedish HareThe Swedish Hare is a breed of domestic rabbit that resembles a hare and was developed, starting in 2008 in Sweden, for its competitive jumping ability. At the same time but separately, the Elfin breed was being developed in the United States--also in response to the popularity of rabbit show jumping. The Elfin officially became the Swedish Hare in October 2011. Specimens from all rabbit breeds may do well in rabbit sports, but the Swedish Hare breed specifically combines the athleticism and temperament to excel in jumping competitions, while avoiding extremes of body type, fur length, or ear length.
The Aboriginal Medical Service (AMS) was established in Redfern from 1971. It was the first Aboriginal community controlled health service in Australia, and it is now a key Indigenous community organisation, from which most Aboriginal medical services around the State of New South Wales have stemmed. The AMS pioneered the concept of Aboriginal community-controlled health care, and as part of its broader objectives, the AMS aims to improve the health standards in Aboriginal communities across Australia The project had distinctly co- operative beginnings. Its foundation was led by Mum (Shirl) Smith, Ken Brindle and Chicka and Elsa Dixon.
The Easter Cup was run behind closed doors and Wolfe made amends for his 2019 English Greyhound Derby problems by claiming the event for trainer Graham Holland. The quality of the competition was high with two Derby champions Priceless Blake and Ballyanne Sim both being eliminated in the semi finals. After the lockdown the Champion Stakes attracted a superb entry which resulted in a shock win for Pestana, the blue brindle dog's fast break was the decisive factor for winning the event. Derby champion Lenson Bocko had a bad start and encountered trouble in the final that included three Liam Dowling runners.
The white and brindle dog then broke two track records before winning the Key, the Test, Wembley Gold Cup and Birmingham Cup in 1944. In 1947 Slaney Record trained by Jack Toseland finished third in the English Greyhound Derby and the following year Baytown Stork qualified for the Derby final, it was a great feat for a trainer outside of London to make two consecutive finals. Toseland was to train four more Derby finalists (three in the next four years), Saft Alex in 1949, Black Mire the runner up in 1951, Dashboard Dan in 1952 and Shy Prairie some years later in 1965 completing a remarkable sequence of achievements.

The hurdler Long Hop won the Grand National, Empire Stadium Hurdles and Wimbledon Challenge Trophy in the process of securing 16 consecutive wins. Future Cutlet returned to track racing and was expected to take over the mantle of leading greyhound following the retirement of Mick the Miller. The brindle won the Wembley Spring Cup but was quoted at 100-1 for the 1932 English Greyhound Derby which led to a surge in ante-post bets that left the bookmakers with huge liabilities on the dog. Following his Derby defeat Future Cutlet bounced back to his best winning a second successive Cesarewitch, a competition that included Seldom Led.
Belgian/Dutch Draught Dog from 1915 The Belgian Drafting Dog was a large dog, molosser-type, which was used both as a drafting dog and as a guard dog. It was known for its docility and obedience. Its coat was short and smooth, the color varied from fawn to brindle, sometimes tricolor, sometimes with white markings and a black mask. It had a big head with a big muzzle, and semi-drooping ears. “Draught Dog — This is more or less of a nondescript variety, but he is worthy of a place in the sun by reason of the inestimable service he renders to his master or misttess.
Ireland had been a hot bed of coursing for many years and was also subjected to the new version of track racing. A greyhound called Mick the Miller had been born in June 1926 and the brindle dog was named after Michael Greene, who was the odd-job man at the vicarage and Millbrook house where the dog was born and raised. One of his duties was looking after the dog and the other eleven in the litter when they were puppies. Bred by a parish priest called Father Martin Brophy, Mick the Miller was sent coursing and was actually beaten in his first course against a greyhound called Hidden Jew.
Only six months after opening, the mall was on the verge of bankruptcy due to millions of dollars in overruns in construction. Brindle was removed as general manager, and Illinois Central Railroad (an investor in the project) installed Clyde Farman. The outdoor Six Flags Great America (then known as Marriott's Great America) theme park opened in 1976, drawing visitors away from Old Chicago. Unusual stores, boutiques, and a lack of recognizable anchor stores proved to be another of Old Chicago's undoings; the mall was not very successful in attracting local residents week after week because of a lack of stores where they wanted to shop.
Clayton Brook is a large residential estate in Lancashire, between the city of Preston and the town of Chorley. It forms part of the Clayton-le-Woods civil parish, and is in the Clayton-le-Woods North ward of the borough of Chorley. Lying next to the industrial estate of Walton Summit, one-time terminus of a branch of the Lancaster Canal, it also neighbours Clayton Green, Hoghton and Brindle, and is not far from the small town of Bamber Bridge. Clayton Brook Village as it is often termed, is bounded by the A6 road and the M61 and M65 motorways, and is conveniently near the M6 motorway.
Brindle was born in Darwen, Lancashire and played junior football in the local area before signing with his local club, who were then one of the major forces in the game. He helped them to win the Lancashire Cup in its inaugural season of 1879-80 defeating Blackburn Rovers 3–0 in the final. In March 1880 he became the first Darwen F.C. player to represent England. Having successfully negotiated his way through a North v South trial match at the Oval on 6 March, he made his debut in a friendly game against Scotland, played at Hampden Park, Glasgow on 13 March 1880.
Some conservatives and democrats refused to participate in the writing of the constitution and ceased participation in government. Republicans and unionists wanting Arkansas to rejoin the United States formed a coalition to write and pass the new constitution, and formed a new state government. In the wake of a wave of reactionary violence by the Ku Klux Klan and a poor economy, the coalition soon fractured into two factions: the "Minstrels", who were mostly carpetbaggers, and the "Brindle Tails", who were mostly scalawags. This led to a failed impeachment trial of the carpetbagger Republican governor, Powell Clayton; he was then elected a U.S. Senator by the General Assembly.
Samuel Pegge's church in thumb Pegge was ordained in 1729, and in 1730 became curate to Dr. John Lynch at Sundridge in Kent. On 6 December 1731 he became the vicar of Godmersham, Kent, where he lived for about twenty years, writing on antiquities and collecting books and coins. From 1749 to 1751 he lived at Surrenden, again in Kent, as tutor to the son of Sir Edward Dering. In 1751 he was elected fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, and in the same year was inducted into the rectory of Old Whittington, near Chesterfield, exchanging Godmersham for the rectory of Brinhill (or Brindle), Lancashire.
In Women's cricket, England's opening batters Caroline Atkins and Arran Brindle (aka Arran Thompson) have broken the world record for an opening partnership for England by putting 150 on the board without loss at the end of the first day of the first Test against India in this stadium. In Test cricket the highest score was made by India, scoring 511 all out followed by Sri Lanka 218 all out. The next highest score was also made by Sri Lanka scoring 174 all out. The most runs scored here was by Sachin Tendulkar (142 runs), followed by Navjot Sidhu (124 runs) and Roshan Mahanama (118 runs).
Nationally, WGNA has been a nominee several times for the "Medium Market Station of the Year" award at both the Country Music Association Awards and by the Academy of Country Music. R.E. "Buzz" Brindle was nominated in 2005 for Radio & Records Magazine's "Country Program Director Of The Year" award. In terms of air talent, afternoon personality Kevin Richards was the winner of the CMA's 2006 Medium Market Personality of the Year award. As well as morning show hosts, Sean McMaster and Richie Phillips winning the CMA Personality of the year award in 2000, and a couple New York State Broadcasters Awards for Personality of the year.
Essai d'une Nouvelle Agrostographie, plate XVIII (18) figure III (3) line drawing of Deschampsia cespitosa The genus is named for French physician and naturalist Louis Auguste Deschamps (1765–1842).Jstor Deschamps, Louis Auguste (1765-1842) Deschampsia species are used as food plants by the larvae of some species of Lepidoptera, including antler moth, the clay, clouded-bordered brindle, common wainscot, dark arches, dusky brocade, shoulder-striped wainscot, smoky wainscot and wall. Deschampsia sometimes grow in boggy acidic formations, an example of which is the Portlethen Moss, Scotland. Deschampsia antarctica is the world's most southern monocot, and one of only two flowering plants of Antarctica.
In 1930, as the sport continued as the nation's leading pastime, the GRA acquired the nearby White City track in the Old Trafford area from Canine Sports Ltd. The first major Belle Vue hound was Wild Woolley; the brindle dog had won the Derby with Jack Rimmer in 1932 but switched kennels to join Jimmy Campbell. Belle Vue had 320 heated kennels housing both track's greyhounds and Wild Woolley won the Northern Flat in a world record time and the Laurels the following year before returning to Rimmer. In 1936, Banksell won the Edinburgh Cup for John Dickenson and Genial Radiance claimed the Oaks for A.G.Hiscock.
Its colour may be grey, brindle, red, black, white, fawn, and wheaten. The Irish Wolfhound was bred for long solitary hunts based solely on the dog's ability to visualize its landscape and perceive, unlike scent hounds (such as Bloodhounds and Beagles) who rely on scent rather than sight. For this reason, the neck of an Irish Wolfhound should be long with the head held high the majority of the time. The Irish Wolfhound should also appear to be longer than it is tall. Once used to hunt wolves, an Irish Wolfhound's structure should appear as if it is “fast enough to catch a wolf, and strong enough to kill it”.
The decrease in attendances continued as a result of the Betting and Gaming Act 1960, which contributed to more track closures. Boundary Park Stadium in the Hellesdon area of Norwich closed on 1 December 1962, to become a redeveloped site for the Eastern Electricity Company. Rochdale switched to independent status and Charlton Stadium closed after difficulties (it would re-open four years later however), in the meantime their top event the Cloth of Gold would take place at Wandsworth Stadium. English Greyhound Derby finalist Dromin Glory, a brindle dog trained by John Bassett had a brilliant year winning both the Scottish Greyhound Derby and Cesarewitch at West Ham Stadium in consecutive months.
Mick the Miller won the 1930 Wembley Spring Stakes defeating a greyhound called Swashbuckler by a short head, Swashbuckler had won by 20 lengths in a race on the opening night and held five track records over all distances between 1928 and 1929. Mick the Miller successfully defended his title in 1931 culminating in a track record performance in the final and then claimed the St Leger later in the year. Another star called Future Cutlet arrived on the track in 1931; he had come over from Ireland after being purchased for £600 by W.A. Evershed to race at Wembley Stadium; the Probert trained brindle dog became the first Derby winner for Wembley.
In the February 12th, 2005 edition of the UK newspaper, The Sun, Miss Silvstedt again posed as a giantess of Godzilla height next to various London landmarks. In a CSL ad, model Polly Brindle appeared as a 98 foot tall giantess walking around the city of London and meets a giant, who is the same height as her. Giantesses have also appeared in some television series such as Genie in the House, Snorks, Schoolhouse Rock, The Electric Company, The Muppet Show, Dexter's Laboratory, Animaniacs, Toonsylvania, Kids Next Door, The Powerpuff Girls in Attack of the Fifty Footed Woman, Totally Spies! episode in Attack Of The 50 Ft Mandy, Phineas and Ferb, and The 7D.
Stubby was described in contemporaneous news items as a Boston Terrier or "American bull terrier" mutt. Describing him as a dog of "uncertain breed," Ann Bausum wrote that: "The brindle-patterned pup probably owed at least some of his parentage to the evolving family of Boston Terriers, a breed so new that even its name was in flux: Boston Round Heads, American...and Boston Bull Terriers." Stubby was found wandering the grounds of the Yale University campus in New Haven, Connecticut in July 1917, while members of the 102nd Infantry were training. He hung around as the men drilled and one soldier in particular, Corporal James Robert Conroy (1892-1987), developed a fondness for him.
Motts Regret, a brindle whelped in April 1944 by Trev's Dispatch out of Friar Tuck, had been bred and reared in the Cumberland Fells by Mr H.G. Nunn. During the year he won a number of open races and was entered for the English Greyhound Derby at White City without success. Later that year he went down with distemper and pneumonia at the GRA Hook Estate and Kennels in Northaw and it was thought he would die, but after a long convalescence would make it back to the track in 1947. Lemon Flash (the 1946 McAlinden Cup winner) and Tim O'Linn died of distemper in Birmingham private kennels, the latter had recently cost his new owner £1,400.
Blue brindle Glen of Imaal Terrier puppy A genetic test is available for progressive retinal atrophy (type crd3), a congenital disorder that gradually results in blindness beginning at about five years of age. As blindness from this cause did not become apparent until well into the breeding years, it was difficult to breed out this trait before the advent of the test. Completely eliminating the defective gene will be tricky even now, as breeding only clear-to-clear would severely restrict choices in an already small gene pool. It is straightforward, however, to produce litters that will never be affected by this type of PRA, even though some individuals in the litter may carry the gene.
By the early 1990s, she had raised over 60 children. Likewise, many people with no family or friends in Sydney arrived at Mum Shirl’s Redfern house seeking shelter. In 1970, Smith, along with Ken Brindle, and Chicka and Elsa Dixon, were the guiding force behind a group of young Aboriginal men and women who were involved in the campaign for land rights by the Gurindji people. This same group, with Fred Hollows and others helped to establish the Aboriginal Medical Service in July 1971. They also helped establish the Aboriginal Legal Service in 1971, the Aboriginal Black Theatre, the Aboriginal Tent Embassy, the Aboriginal Children’s Service, the Aboriginal Housing Company and the Detoxification Centre at Wiseman’s Ferry.
Mick the Miller now trained by Sidney Orton successfully defended his English Greyhound Derby title and in the process propelled greyhound racing into a boom period that would last for over thirty years. A crowd of 50,000 witnessed the brindle dog win the 1930 English Greyhound Derby at White City Stadium on 28 June. Following the Derby win, he then won the Cesarewitch at West Ham Stadium over the longer distance of 600 yards and the Welsh Greyhound Derby at White City Stadium, Cardiff, winning the final by ten lengths in a new track and national record of 29.55. His season ended when he finished lame during the Laurels, a new event introduced at Wimbledon Stadium.
The Alpine Mastiff is an extinct Molosser dog breed, Although they have the same origin as Saint Bernard but they are still two totally different breeds. Alpine Mastiff is a major contributor to the modern Mastiff (through such dogs as "Couchez"), as well as to other breeds that derive from these breeds or are closely related to them. M.B. Wynn wrote, "In 1829 a vast light brindle dog of the old Alpine mastiff breed, named L'Ami, was brought from the convent of Great St. Bernard area, and exhibited in London and Liverpool as the largest dog in England." William Cavendish, 5th Duke of Devonshire, is believed to have bred Alpine Mastiffs at Chatsworth House.
However, as the day wore on, England lost their stamina, and the lower order batters took over. No. 7 Cathryn Fitzpatrick, No. 9 Julie Hayes and Test debutante No. 10 Shelley Nitschke all made fifties as Australia eked out 223 more runs before the end of the first day, losing only two more wickets, and Nitschke was 70 not out overnight. She finished on an unbeaten 81, as Australia added a further 27 before Clea Smith was lbw to Katherine Brunt, to end with 355. England scored slowly after losing Laura Newton for 24, as they used 129 overs to make 273 – Charlotte Edwards top-scoring with 69, while Arran Brindle made her second Test half-century with 54.
In the first round, Jack Mullan’s 77 pound Wonder Valley recorded an extremely fast 29.47, propelling himself to competition favourite. The dark brindle dog had not performed well in the 1964 English Greyhound Derby going out in the first round but he followed up his first round win with an even faster time of 29.27 in round two. The Derby looked destined to go to Wonder Valley who was described by some of the press as one of the fastest greyhound's that they had ever seen. The best of the others in round two were Chubby Crackers (29.44), Gleaming There (29.55) and Granada Chief (29.71), Rex Again (29.83) and Bannside King (29.95).
A new event the Sussex Cup was introduced at Brighton. The Grand National at White City arrived in April and Sherrys Prince qualified for the final amidst huge interest from the greyhound public, this remarkable hurdler went to the traps as 5-4 favourite and recorded his third successive title. The brindle dog whelped in April 1967 was owned by Mrs Joyce Matthews and had been schooled for hurdles in 1969 after finishing his flat career. He ran in 105 hurdle races winning 70 and finishing second 15 times and set 15 track records and all of this was achieved despite a broken hock in the final of the 1970 Scottish Grand National and a serious kidney infection in 1972.
Boxer early genealogy chart The German citizen George Alt, a Munich resident, mated a brindle-colored female dog imported from France named Flora with a local dog of unknown ancestry, known simply as "Boxer", resulting in a fawn-and-white male, named "Lechner's Box" after its owner. Flocki, the first boxer This dog was mated with his own dam Flora, and one of its offspring was a female dog called Alt's Schecken. George Alt mated Schecken with a Bulldog named Dr. Toneissen's Tom to produce the historically significant dog Mühlbauer's Flocki. Flocki was the first Boxer to enter the German Stud Book after winning the aforementioned show for St. Bernards in Munich 1896, which was the first event to have a class specific for Boxers.
Passman (aka Passman Jewelry) is a line of black coral jewelry currently produced by Brindle & Fig under license. The brand was created in 1975 by Bernard Passman, sculptor and jeweler, on Grand Cayman. Examples of the company's work include gold and black coral sculptures for the White House, a gold and black coral crucifix sculpture for the Pope, the Cayman Islands's gift of a 97-piece set of sterling silver and black coral tableware for Prince Charles and Lady Diana's wedding in 1981, a miniature set for the birth of Prince William, and a black coral horse and corgi dogs for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. After Bernard Passman's death in 2007, the company was acquired by Cayman Islands-based Active Capital Ltd.
Now he was also wanted by the Royal Ulster Constabulary and the British security services. He was shot dead on 1 June 1993 in the Royal Hotel (now Royal Inn on the Park) in Hackney, East London by an unknown assailant, who was described as being in his late forties and wearing a leather bomber jacket. The assailant fled in a stolen Ford Fiesta. Following his death, Moody was linked to multiple unsolved murders including that of gangster David Brindle in August 1991, of businessman Terry Gooderham and his girlfriend Maxine Arnold in Epping Forest, and that of a couple, the Dixons, walking the Pembrokeshire coast in June 1989 who were thought to have inadvertently unearthed a cache of Provisional IRA weapons.
The first attempts to form a trade union for cotton spinners occurred in the late 18th century, and there were numerous attempts to establish local and national unions throughout the 19th century. There had been the Manchester Spinners Union and the Grand General Union of Operative Spinners of the United Kingdom formed in 1828, by John Doherty. It only lasted two years.. In 1845 several local associations in the North West and Yorkshire combined to form the Association of Operative Cotton Spinners, Twiners, and Self Acting Minders of the United Kingdom. This grew to 49 local affiliates, was able to appoint a full-time secretary, Thomas Brindle, and was central to the National Association of United Trades for the Protection of Industry.
The proposed phenomenon may be due to a number of factors. Research has identified geographic location, fear stigma against certain breed types, and the fact that large, black dogs are often portrayed as aggressive in film and on television as possible correlates. Initial research at one location identified a longer period experienced by black dogs before adoption, but subsequent studies considered to be more robust (as conducted in a larger number of geographically spread shelters) has shown that when shelter visitors video- recorded their walk through the adoption area, they spent equal amounts of time looking at every dog, regardless of coat color. Other studies have suggested brindle dogs may be more likely to experience longer delays before adoption than black dogs.
Stan Biss won the Oaks for the fifth time with Dumbles Maid, a brindle and white bitch that had turned in the traps and refused to chase just a few weeks previous. A strong entry for the St Leger saw Bohernagraga Boy win by just a short head from recent Oaks champion Dumbles Maid, Monday's News struggled with the longer distance and could only finish a disappointing fifth. History was made during the All England Cup, held at Brough Park when four of the entries were all four nations Derby winners. The English Greyhound Derby winner Mondays News, the Irish Greyhound Derby champion Lilac Lady, Welsh Greyhound Derby winner Negro's Lad and Scottish Greyhound Derby champion Lattin Pearl all competed.
The Groenendael variety is long-haired, it has a solid black double coat, the outer coat is straight and particularly long around the shoulders, neck and chest; they have short hair on the face, and well feathered legs and tail. The Laekenois variety is rough- coated, its coat is fawn in colour with discreet black overlay and is harsh, dry and normally slightly tangled in appearance; it has a bristled, feathered muzzle and limited feathering on the legs and tail. According to the breed standard, black overlay means the tips of the hair are black but not in patches or stripes such as brindle. The Malinois variety is short-haired, it is fawn in colour with black overlay, with a charcoal coloured face and extremities.
The blue brindle became the first greyhound in the history of Shelbourne Park to break 29 seconds over 550 yards with a 28.99 run beating Newinn Taylor by 3½ lengths. Two big names safely through became four after Ballymac Anton defeated Wolfe in the next heat and this was followed by a double Ballymac success when Ballymac Wild and Ballymac Cooper both blitzed round in 29.15 and 29.10 respectively. The night finished with a win for Boylesports Xtra and a second place for Lenson Bocko behind Feudal Spirit. The third round was run on the 29 August and the big shock of the night was the elimination of defending champion Lenson Bocko after he was involved in a troubled race.
In general, border collies are medium-sized dogs with a moderate amount of coat, which is more often thick and prone to shedding. They have a double coat that varies from smooth to rough and is occasionally curled. While black and white is the most commonly seen color pattern of the Border Collie, the breed appears in just about any color and pattern known to occur in dogs. Some of these include black tricolor (black/tan/white), liver and white, and red tricolor (red/tan/white) which have also been seen regularly, and other colours such as blue, lilac, red merle, blue merle, brindle, and Australian red (also known as ee red, blonde, recessive red, or gold) which is seen less frequently.
Matt O'Donnell had two major challengers in the defending champion Batties Rocket and his sister Batties Spirit whilst Mountleader Peer edged the pair in the ante-post betting after a win in the Febo Champions Stakes and a sequence of nine straight wins. It was the Christy O'Callaghan brindle Mountleader Peer that showed first recording a fast 30.20 in qualifying. During the first round the 28.70 Kilkenny Greyhound Stadium record holder Spiral Nikita impressed with a 30.10 and Batties Spirit also went well winning in a time just six spots (0.06) slower. Batties Spirit completed three wins in a row with the fastest second round time of 30.17; Mountleader Peer took his record to twelve consecutive wins beating Spiral Nikita in the process.
When England batted, Edwards shared an opening partnership of 94 with Laura Newton, and both made half-centuries as England paced themselves well, keeping the required run rate just around six per over. However, fast bowler Cathryn Fitzpatrick took four wickets to trouble the English middle order, having Arran Brindle bowled for 50 to see England to 240 for 6. England only needed 20 for the last four wickets, and with England's captain Clare Connor hitting a couple of fours after being forced down the order, England needed six off the last over to win with one wicket in hand - having suffered two run outs as well. Isa Guha hit the first ball for a single, bringing Connor on strike with five needed.
In Women's cricket, England's opening batters Caroline Atkins and Arran Brindle (aka Arran Thompson) have broken the then world record for an opening partnership for England by putting 150 on the board without loss at the end of the first day of the first Test against India in K. D. Singh Babu Stadium, Lucknow, India. On 8 August 2008, she broke the record for the highest stand for any wicket in women's One Day International cricket with a first wicket partnership of 268 with Sarah Taylor at Lord's for England against South Africa. She was first out for 145. However this world record was broken by Deepti Sharma and Punam Raut She was a member of the England team which won both the World Cup and the Twenty/20 World Championship in 2009.

Following their review of parliamentary representation in Lancashire leading up to the 2010 United Kingdom general election the Boundary Commission for England created a new seat of Wyre and Preston North in the central part of the county, which caused "knock-on" effects elsewhere.
The breed's double coat is typically harsh and thick and they are usually black and tan or solid black with some white markings on their toes, chest and neck, they have small drooped ears and heavily plumed tail that is curled over their back. There are slightly distinct sub-varieties of the breed found in the Kumaon hills and Chamba; the former, which is known as the Cypro Kukur or Kumaon mastiff, is brindle, rich golden brown or black in colour, the latter is smaller than most of the breed and resemble a larger, longer haired black Labrador. In 2005 the Bhotia was one of four Indian dog breeds featured on a set of postage stamps released by the Indian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to celebrate the country's canine heritage.
The Brooks–Baxter War (or sometimes referred to as the Brooks–Baxter Affair) was an armed conflict in Little Rock and New Gascony, Arkansas, in the United States, in 1874 between factions of the Republican Party over the disputed 1872 state gubernatorial election. The victor in the end was the "Minstrel" faction (supported by the 'carpetbaggers') led by Elisha Baxter over the "Brindle Tail" faction (supported by 'scalawags' and freedmen) led by Joseph Brooks. The struggle began with the ratification of the 1868 Arkansas constitution, rewritten to allow Arkansas to rejoin the United States after the Civil War. Congress's 1867 Reconstruction Acts required rebel states to accept the 14th Amendment – establishing civil rights for blacks – and enact new constitutions providing suffrage to freedmen (ex-slaves) while temporarily disenfranchising former Confederate Army officers.
As a result, a lot of specimens started to lose their spitz characteristics and instead took on drop ears, straight tails, non-Japanese color (black masks, and any color other than red, white or brindle), and loose skin. A native Japanese breed known as Matagi (hunting dog) was used along with the Hokkaido Inu breed to mix back into the remaining Akita Inu to bring back the spitz phenotype and restore the Akita breed. The modern day Japanese Akita have relatively few genes from western dogs and are spitz in phenotype after the reconstruction of the breed took place, however the larger American breed of Akita largely descends from the mixed Akita before the restoration of the breed, and thus American Akita are typically mixed and not considered true Akita by the Japanese standard.
Mick, a male brindle Greyhound, was born in Killeigh, County Offaly, Ireland before the introduction of Greyhound track racing in Ireland, and before the sport became popular in Britain. The smallest of a litter of ten puppies, his father was a direct descendant of Master McGrath, a famous Irish Greyhound who won the Waterloo Cup on three occasions. Originally expected to be used for hare coursing, a deal was discussed with dog owner Moses Rebenschied to take Mick to America to compete in the Greyhound racing circuit. However, before the deal could go through a tornado struck St. Louis, Missouri, killing 27 of Rebenschied's Greyhounds when the roof was blown off their kennel, and a further four dogs died when a van driven by his son was overturned by the storm.
He is rescued by the Elizabethan people of Malmes-Wutton, who nurse him back to health. The initial fear brought about by the unusual facial feature on his forehead, is soon gone as Brindle shows himself to be a caring friendly individual. Malmes-Wutton itself, rather than being a part of the English countryside, is a floating island encased in a glass dome, and like the other floating islands of Englandia, is part of the collection of islands making up the uplifted isles of the Reflected Realm, where in place of animals there are mechanicals, and people live greatly extended lives. After befriending the two young apprentices who work in the workshop of Malmes-Wutton, he travels with them when they depart to return to the capital of Englandia to work on war machines.
In Ireland the 1940 Irish Greyhound Derby would not take place until October and a superstar would emerge, without fully being recognised during his racing career. Tanist was a brindle dog whelped in March 1938 by Inler out of the dam Tranquilia and would later become arguably the most significant breeding sire in Irish history. Owned Mr W.Twyford (real name Father F.Browne) and trained by Billy Quinn he reached the final of the Easter Cup at Shelbourne Park, won by Shy Sandy in April and broke the track record, recording 29.66 seconds and was also the first to break 30 seconds barrier at Clonmel Greyhound Stadium, setting a new record in his only race there. He finished runner up to great rival Another Dancing Willie in the McAlinden Cup final before being bought by Londoner Arthur Probert for £200.
There his teachers included Ildebrando Pizzetti and Luigi Dallapiccola for composition and Fernando Germani for organ. His compositional activity comprised three main phases: tonal until 1951; serial/"dodecaphonic" until c1970; and finally a freer third phase where many compositions were for his own instruments, guitar and organ. Brindle is presently best known for his solo guitar music (which was highly regarded by players such as Andres Segovia and Julian Bream, especially El Polifemo de Oro (1956), written for Bream, as well as five sonatas (1948, 1976, 1978, 1979), Variants on two themes of J. S. Bach (1970), Memento in two movements (1973), Do not go gentle... (1974), November Memories (1974), Four Poems of Garcia Lorca (1975), "Guitarcosmos" (3 volumes) and The Prince of Venosa (1994). His one chamber opera, The Death of Antigone, was premiered at Oxford in 1971.
Designer Robert Brindle conceived of the idea behind Old Chicago after a visit to Knott's Berry Farm amusement park in Buena Park, California, and wished to put an entire park - complete with roller coaster, Ferris wheel, and log flumes - indoors so that it could be open year-round. Brindle's concept featured an early 20th-century decor inside, with the mall featuring smaller local shops and boutiques rather than the traditional department stores that anchored most malls. Over two years in the making, Old Chicago was opened to the public on June 17, 1975, in a grand opening party that attracted over 10,000 invited guests, causing massive traffic jams. The Old Chicago TV commercial featured an 18-year-old Michelle Mauthe tap-dancing on top of the dome during high winds, while a cameraman filmed from inside a helicopter.
Colours permitted by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) breed standard are clear sand to dark fawn/brown, red and brindle (with or without a dark mask), with white bib, tail tip, and white on all feet (which can be tips of toes to high stockings). Since 2015 white stockings that go above the elbow joint are considered disqualifying features in the FCI member countries, as is a white collar or half collar (Irish marked). Some conservationists support the idea that in Africa, Azawakhs are still found in a variety of colours such as red, blue fawn (that is, with a lilac cast), grizzle, and, rarely, blue and black with various white markings including Irish marked (white collar) and particolour (mostly white).Colour, Pattern and Marking Varieties of the Azawakh in the Regions of Origin, 2005, Dr. Gabriel Meissen.
As Minister for Care Services, Lewis led the introduction of Putting People First, the then government's policy (accepted by the incoming coalition government) to personalise the provision of social care services for the elderly and people with disabilities. The policy offered adults eligible for care services the ability choose their own care services from a "personal budget", and shifted some responsibilities from the NHS to councils. Lewis described his own policy changes as "arguably the biggest redistribution of power from the state to the citizen that we have ever seen", while David Brindle of The Guardian praised him for having done a "huge amount" to raise the profile of social care. In March 2008, Lewis warned that the Labour Party was losing touch with ordinary people under the leadership of Gordon Brown in an article written for Progress Online.

1968 - this was possibly a Halloween edition of the series, and features Crocker, Bannerman, and a group of supporting singers and dancers, performing a sequence of lighthearted horror-themed musical numbers.Deadly Earnest on Say It With Music Bannerman also recorded an LP, Rave In Peace, released on the RCA Camden label in 1969, which featured ten original tracks co-written by Bannerman and musician John Brindle, including a song celebrating Bannerman's regular sponsor, "Cec Cook's Magic Shop". After Aweful Movies, Bannerman is reported to have worked for the ABC as a program assessor, but is since thought to have died, possibly some time in the 1980s. Hedley Cullen died in 1994 and no footage was known to exist of him as Deadly Earnest until SAS-7 (formerly SAS-10) celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2005, when three clips were discovered while researching a television special.

Previously, the studio's backgrounds had been considered to be somewhat unattractive by Jones, using a fairly mundane style with muted colors (which Jones disparagingly referred to as "shit-brindle"). Under McGrew and his contemporary layout artists (including Thomas McKimson in Robert Clampett's unit, along with Owen Fitzgerald and then Hawley Pratt in Friz Freleng's unit), the animators pioneered a far more abstract method of drawing the backgrounds, which set them apart from competing studios such as Disney. While Jones's subsequent layout designers, Earl Klein and later Robert Gribbroek would return to a more normal style of background design, his most famous layout man, Maurice Noble took up an abstract style that in many ways resembled McGrew's earlier work. After leaving the studio, McGrew entered the Navy,Hollywood Cartoons excerpt and after the end of World War II, continued to work as an artist and occasional animator.
England set themselves up well against Australia, but failed to hit out in the last over thanks to some accurate and fierce bowling from Cathryn Fitzpatrick, who had earlier hit 38 not out with the bat to lift Australia to 222 for 7 after three for 39 from Clare Connor. Arran Brindle continued on her magnificent form from the first Test, when she made a fifty and a hundred, and in partnerships with Jenny Gunn and Claire Taylor she lifted the English to 198 for 4 with her score of 81. With only 25 runs left to hit for the last six wickets, it was there for the taking. But Fitzpatrick returned, having taken the wicket of Laura Newton earlier on, and she took three more wickets as the English lower order were strangled - and collapsed to 210 all out with five balls remaining in the innings.
The nearby Salford Crescent railway station, which opened in 1987, however, took much of the passenger traffic away from Pendleton station, sending it into terminal decline. In 1988 services to Bolton were withdrawn (with the closure of the Brindle Heath to Agecroft Jcn chord) leaving Pendleton served by Atherton line trains only. An arson attack in July 1994 led to the station being closed temporarily by GMPTE, though by this time it was only being served by 4 trains each day. Final closure came in 1998 after it was deemed that repairing the damage caused by the vandalism would not represent good value for money:...The Franchising Director advertised the closure and, in assessing the impact of the closure the RUCC for North Western England concluded (on 6 May 1998) that no hardship would result from closure as no trains had called at Pendleton for four years.

The Boston Terrier is characteristically marked with white in proportion to either black, brindle, seal (color of a wet seal, a very dark brown that looks black except in the bright sun), or a combination of the three. Any other color is not accepted as a Boston Terrier by the American Kennel Club, as they are usually obtained by crossbreeding with other breeds and the dog loses its characteristic "tuxedo" appearance. Any Boston Terrier from AKC parentage regardless of the color, or if it is a splash or has a blue eye or weak ears, can be and are registered by the AKC and participate in any AKC sporting events. According to the American Kennel Club, an ideal Boston Terrier should have white that covers its chest and muzzle, a band around the neck, halfway up the forelegs, up to the hocks on the rear legs, and a white blaze between (but not touching) the eyes.
A GWR seat at The pedestrian crossing at Cockwood Steps, on the South Devon Main Line, retains a gate with GWR spear-type railings The GWR's memory is kept alive by several museums such as STEAM – the museum of the GWR (in the old Swindon railway works), and the Didcot Railway Centre, where there is an operating broad-gauge train. Preserved GWR lines include those from Totnes to Buckfastleigh, Paignton to Kingswear, Bishops Lydeard to Minehead, Kidderminster to Bridgnorth and Cheltenham to Broadway. Many other heritage railways and museums also have GWR locomotives or rolling stock in use or on display. Numerous stations owned by Network Rail also continue to display much of their GWR heritage. Felicity Jones played Emma Carter from the age of 15 but after a period of studying at Wadham College, Oxford, she gave up the role to move into television and cinema. Some of the actors, when not playing their characters, earn their money through different jobs altogether: Charlotte Connor, when not playing Susan Carter (credited as Charlotte Martin), works full-time as a senior research psychologist at the Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation; her office is a short walk from BBC Birmingham, and thus she is able to fit her work around recordings.David Brindle "Young people log on for shared headspace", The Guardian, 9 February 2011 Meanwhile, Graham Blockey, who plays Robert Snell, worked till recently as a full-time general practitioner in Surrey, commuting to and from BBC Birmingham at weekends and on his days off. He kept his role secret from his patients, for fear of losing their respect, until his retirement from medicine in March 2017.
Heat 5 was mayhem and Grangeview Ten won the race with Wolfe knocked over and eliminated, the stewards failed to stop the race despite a greyhound turning and passing the hare in the wrong direction, luckily no greyhound was injured. Killmacdonagh and Ballymac Copper battled in heat 6 with the fawn bitch coming out on top by a head, Magical Bale bounced back top form with a win in heat 7 and finally Mucky Brae won heat 8 which saw the end of the challenge of defending champion Ballyanne Sim. Heat 2 saw the surprise elimination of Ballymac Copper who ran under par, Sophies Man took the race followed by Boylesports King and Mucky Brae.
As for the administrators of the System of Government which offers such services, to Herbert, the vast majority are self-interested nincompoops, and the system reliably self-perpetuating due to a more-or-less indefinite supply of same, viz: :Dr Aintee held no high opinion of the great black and brindle family he fathered, nor viewed their plight with sentiment, not understanding their plight nor being expected to do so by his employer, the Government. Like his employer, he regarded them merely as marsupials being routed by a pack of dingoes; and he understood that his duty was merely to protect them from undue violence during the rout. Most of the dingoes hated him for interfering with their rights as the stronger animals; the marsupials regarded him as a sort of devil-devil, and trembled at mention of his name. Thus he was loved by few; but he was well enough paid to be careless of what was thought of him; his salary amounted to about a quarter of the total expenditure on Aboriginal Affairs in Capricornia.
New works have been written for and/or dedicated to him (for solo and ensemble) by James Patten, Elisabeth Lutyens, Reginald Smith Brindle, Alfred Nieman, Charles Camilleri, David Bedford, Roger Williams, Glen Morgan, Robert Keeley, Jeffrey Joseph, Kenneth Paige, Daniel Sturm, Vojislav Ivanovic, Betty Roe, Ivor Mairants, Geoffrey Burgon, Aurelio Peruzzi, Judith Bingham, Monique Cecconi-Botella, Ottavio Negro and Luis Morales Giacoman. In addition to his pioneering work in chamber music, and always in search of exciting possibilities for the guitar, he expanded the role of the instrument by combining with mime in three works, "Pierrot", "Harlequin's Toccata" and "Colombine", which are now successfully established as stage and concert pieces. He has produced a great number of compositions, not only for solo and ensemble guitar but also for all string instruments including a concerto for guitar, cello and 19 strings, which received its world première at the Habana International Festival of Guitar, Cuba, in May 1992. His guitar compositions are being recorded and performed by an ever-increasing number of guitarists.
This mass immigration of Portuguese likely brought many working dogs to the country, especially multitasking dogs such as the Portuguese Alaunt, explaining why the Fila was formed and discovered in Minas Gerais, and not in other Brazilian states. The breed developed precisely in the routes of the exploration areas of these ores – in the cities, farms and commercial areas that existed due to the exploitation of this economic activity interconnected different regions – and were places with constant flows of people and, consequently, of dogs. A brindle Original Fila Brasileiro, 2018 Borges studied the probable origins of the Brazilian Fila under the guidance of André Oliveira and Antônio Ferreira – Portuguese cynologists and researchers at the University of Coimbra, Portugal – who provided study materials, including many historical documents and photos of old Portuguese dogs, among them the Portuguese Alaunt of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Portuguese Alaunt (Alão Português) is now extinct, but old photos show that it and the Fila Brasileiro (except the CBKC/FCI Standard modern Fila Brasileiro) are very similar.
The first greyhound in the United States was registered in 1894 and the oval form of racing with a mechanical or artificial hare was started by Owen Patrick Smith in 1912. California was the first state to introduce an oval greyhound track in May 1920, it was the first mechanical lure oval circuit in the world. Smith opened the track at Emeryville.Jane Alexiadis, What's it Worth? Greyhound collection sale to benefit charity, San Jose Mercury News (23 December 2011). The Emeryville arena was torn down in February 1920 to make way for the construction of a modern racetrack using the mechanical lure, described in the press as the "automatic rabbit" "Emeryville Arena Being Torn Down; Lumber Used To Build Coursing Park— Automatic Rabbit Electrically Controlled Brings Ancient Sport Back Within Law", Oakland Tribune, February 13, 1920, p18 The first race at the new park was on Saturday, May 29, 1920 "Emeryville Coursing Park Opens Saturday", Oakland Tribune, May 27, 1920, p18 A greyhound called Joe Dump set a world record of 31 race wins in 1978 and 1979; the red brindle dog was trained by JC Stanley and owned by Joe Fallon and raced primarily at Greenetrack.
The Catahoula Leopard Dog, a recognized cur breed In the United States, the term cur is also used to describe a distinctive type of short-haired dog that is used for both hunting and herding, the type was developed in the Southern United States. When describing these dogs, the term is actually an abbreviation of cur-tailed, as in a dog with a naturally occurring bobtail like that of the extinct English cur; many of the earlier examples of this type had a bobtail and some still do. A number of cur breeds have been standardised within the United States, some have been recognised by the United Kennel Club; these breeds include the Black Mouth Cur, the Blue Lacy, the Catahoula Leopard dog, the Mountain Cur, the Stephens Cur, the Treeing Cur, and the Treeing Tennessee Brindle. These versatile dogs are used in a number of roles: for herding livestock, as well as trailing and locating lost livestock in thick scrubland; and in hunting a variety of game, including squirrels, opossums, raccoons, feral pigs, cougars, and American black bears, locating game both by sight and scent.
The breed is of an early Mastiff type with a solid pale tan or sabled coat, and a black mask. According to official Kangal Shepherd Dog organisations in Turkey, including the Cynology Federation of Turkey (Köpek Irkları ve Kinoloji Federasyonu, KIF) and the Ankara Kangal Association (Ankara Kangal Derneği, ANKADER), Kangals may also be brindle or feature a recessive black tan pattern; with or without a black mask; and/or with white markings. While the Kangal Shepherd Dog is often referred to as a sheep dog, it is not a herding dog, but rather a flock guardian that lives with the flock of sheep to actively fend off predators of all sizes. Typically used as protection against wolves, bears, and jackals in its native Turkey, the breed has been exported to African countries like Namibia and Kenya in more recent years due to its intimidating size and capabilities as an effective guardian, where it successfully protects local herds from lions, cheetahs, and similar indigenous big cats, which has had the benefit of not only protecting livestock, but ensuring the continuity of endangered predators due to reduced cullings by local farmers.
