The House at 118 Greenwood Street in Wakefield, Massachusetts is a rare well- preserved example of a Stick-style house. Sawtooth edging to sections of board-and-batten siding give interest to the base of the gables, and on a projecting window bay.

The 15-story building is tall, and is supported by a reinforced concrete superstructure. The exterior is covered in brick, with stone covering the ground floor and the mezzanine. The interior features elements such as the wood-paneled pier supports, checkerboard patterned flooring, mezzanine stairway marble treads, newel posts, rails, and balustrade ironwork.

The Judge W.A. Sawle House is a historic house located at 151 Central Street in Tonopah, Nevada, United States. W.A. Sawle, the local Justice of the Peace, built the house for himself in 1904. The frame house was designed in a blend of the Late Victorian and Colonial Revival styles. The home has a "T"-shaped plan and features a verandah with a crooked shape and a balustrade, wooden jig-cut bracketing along the top of the verandah, and a hipped roof.

The Solon Dogget House is a historic house at 50 Union Street in Quincy, Massachusetts. The 1-1/2 story wood frame house was built in 1872 by Henry G. Pratt, who sold it to Solon Dogget, a poet and artist. It is a well-preserved local example of Second Empire style, with a mansard roof, patterned shingling on the walls, and Queen Anne porches with spindled friezes and turned posts. It has Stick style bracketing on the door hoods.

The Linden Flats was a three-story, brick building that was built on a stone foundation. The façade combined elements of the Victorian and Federal styles. The Federal style was found in the simple box structure, the unadorned windows, the stone columns and lintels over the doorways, and the symmetry of the building's composition. The Victorian elements were found in the building's decorative embellishments, which included the two window bays that rose and became part of the cornice, the two-toned brick pattern work and the bracketing, and the garland swags on the cornice.

CT scanning of the specimen in the University of San Carlos revealed the presence of osteosclerosis (high bone density). This condition had previously only been observed in Spinosaurus aegyptiacus, as a possible way of facilitating submersion in water by making its bones heavier. All birds have a fixed erect stance, and crocodilians have the ability to high walk with their limbs erect. If an erect stance is considered homologous in birds and crocodilians, phylogenetic bracketing implies that they inherited this trait from their common ancestor and that this ancestor also had an erect stance. With this reasoning, the first archosaurs are thought to have had the ability to high walk.

White Avenue is located northeast of downtown Wakefield, and is a short street in a residential area just east of Lake Quannapowitt. This house stands on the north side of the street, facing south on a lot that slopes west toward the lake. It is a 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a hip roof, with two gable-roof and clapboarded exterior. Its roof has dormers bracketing an oriel window in front, and a normal gabled dormer to the side; these gables are decorated with jigsawn Queen Anne woodwork.

The leaves have a narrow base connecting to the long petioles. They have regularly spaced teeth along the margin that are rounded and bearing glands, and a few specimens from the McAbee site also have distinct laminal lobes bracketing the petiole. The leaves have an overall range between long by , with an obovate outline. Like Trochodendron the leaves have a pinnate vein structure, with between eight and fifteen secondary veins that fork from the central main vein and arch towards the leaf apex before merging with the secondary above.

The location is the Valley of Exarchus close to the village on the northeast and several miles from Kalapodi to the northwest. In 1894 the British School at Athens, then in its infancy, undertook the first modern excavations in the region. There were only two locations that could be major ancient sites, both in the Valley of Exarchos, then known as Kalapodi, bracketing the village to the north and south.

The Asa Locke House is set on the south side of High Street, at the southeast corner with Overlook Way, in what is now a predominantly residential suburban area. It is a 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, three bays wide, with a front- facing gable roof and clapboard siding. A single-story porch extends across the north-facing front and around to the east side, supported by chamfered square posts with segmented-arch bracketing. The front door is set to one side, with full-length windows in the side base.

Another common criticism of the Elite is that the arrow keys' inverted-T layout has been changed into a cross-like layout, with left/right arrows keys side by side and up/down keys bracketing them from above and below, increasing the distance between the vertical keys. Another significant change was the keyboard's adjustable feet. While the original Microsoft Natural Keyboard had feet in the front to generate reverse tilt, the Elite and its successors have their feet in the back. The fast destroyer , captained by Commander Leon S. Kintberger, was the flagship of the small destroyer and destroyer escort screen of Taffy 3. As towering splashes from Japanese shells began bracketing the ships of the task group, Hoel started zig-zagging and laying smoke to help defend the now fleeing CVEs. When the Japanese had closed to Kintberger opened fire, and was in turn targeted by the Japanese. Yamatos guns scored a hit on Hoels bridge at , knocking out all voice radio communication, killing four men and wounding Kintberger and Screen Flag Officer Commander William Dow Thomas.

This process is known as bracketing used for a video stream. In 1991, the first commercial video camera was introduced that performed real- time capturing of multiple images with different exposures, and producing an HDR video image, by Hymatom, licensee of Georges Cornuéjols. Also in 1991, Georges Cornuéjols introduced the HDR+ image principle by non-linear accumulation of images to increase the sensitivity of the camera: for low- light environments, several successive images are accumulated, thus increasing the signal to noise ratio. In 1993, another commercial medical camera producing an HDR video image, by the Technion.

The verandah and entrance porch has brick column bases with timber columns and bracketing with a slate roof. A small (remnant) garden survives, with large pre 1857 Port Jackson fig (Ficus rubiginosa) on George Street, jelly palm (Butia capitata) near the south-western corner of the house, and more recent cottage plantings in beds edging lawn. The former Marine Hospital building occupies a prominent hilltop on Martin's Point, a peninsular projection in eastern Portland that marks the southern side of the mouth of the Presumpscot River at Casco Bay. The larger and lower modern Martin's Point Health Care building stands to the southeast, with the main entrance rotary to the building's northeast. The Marine Hospital is a three-story structure, built with load-bearing brick walls and granite trim. It has a roughly H-shaped plan, with granite quoining at the corners, and a multi-stage projecting cornice that includes a band of bracketing.

The Hamilton House is set at the northeast corner of South and Manning Streets, near the eastern edge of Calais' developed residential area. It is a two-story wood frame structure, roughly square in shape, with a hip roof that is topped at its center by a full-height monitor section. The walls are finished with clapboards and quoining at the corners, and the eave has Italianate brackets. The main facade, facing southeast, has a single-story porch extending across its width, supported by square posts with elaborate bracketing at their tops, and in the cornice of its hip roof.

John C. Didier and David Pankenier relate the shapes of both the ancient Chinese characters for Di and Tian to the patterns of stars in the northern skies, either drawn, in Didier's theory by connecting the constellations bracketing the north celestial pole as a square, or in Pankenier's theory by connecting some of the stars which form the constellations of the Big Dipper and broader Ursa Major, and Ursa Minor (Little Dipper). Cultures in other parts of the world have also conceived these stars or constellations as symbols of the origin of things, the supreme godhead, divinity and royal power.

Another example is bracketing text with the symbol for the element iron (`` and ``) in order to denote irony. Typing in all-capital letters, and emoticons like "Rolling eyes", ":>", and ":P," as well as using the "victory hand" dingbat / emoji () character to simulate air quotes, are often used as well, particularly in instant messaging, while a Twitter-style hashtag, #sarcasm, is also increasingly common. The use of the ":^)" emoticon has recently taken hold in a subset of Internet users to punctuate facetious or otherwise sarcastic commentary. In many gaming communities, the word "Kappa" is frequently used to display sarcasm as well as joking intent.

The Main Library is situated on the south-west corner of George Square, chosen because this was the quietest section of the square. Opened in 1967, the eight-storey building was designed by Sir Basil Spence. The horizontal library exterior is deliberately designed to look like a bookcase; the architecture features brutalist elements but also clear oriental features. The exterior columns on the north side feature bracketing and are non-weight bearing, in what may be seen as a humorous stab at the movements at the time following the principle that architecture must be truthful and form must follow function.

Some years after the 1900–1901 publication of his main work, the Logische Untersuchungen (Logical Investigations), Husserl made some key conceptual elaborations which led him to assert that in order to study the structure of consciousness, one would have to distinguish between the act of consciousnessde Warren, N., Husserl and the Promise of Time: Subjectivity in Transcendental Phenomenology (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 2009), p. 79. and the phenomena at which it is directed (the objects as intended). Knowledge of essences would only be possible by "bracketing" all assumptions about the existence of an external world. This procedure he called "epoché".

If is a continuous function and there exist two points and such that and are of opposite signs, then, by the intermediate value theorem, the function has a root in the interval . There are many root-finding algorithms that can be used to obtain approximations to such a root. One of the most common is Newton's method, but it can fail to find a root under certain circumstances and it may be computationally costly since it requires a computation of the function's derivative. Gordon is also known as the founder of postcolonial phenomenology and the leading proponent of Africana phenomenology which has enabled him to make a mark in Fanon Studies. Gordon was able to develop postcolonial phenomenology, which he sometimes refers to as Africana phenomenology or de-colonial phenomenology, through making a series of important innovations to Husserlian and Sartrian phenomenologies. The first, and perhaps most important, is his transformation of parenthesizing and bracketing of the natural attitude into what he calls "ontological suspension". Although Husserl called for a suspension of the natural attitude, his goal was primarily epistemological.

A branch of the Saugeen River runs through the centre of Wareham - and was the reason for settlement here. (The current crossroads of Centre Line A and Sideroad 41.) Originally there where three small water mills grouped around this corner. Remains of one of the largest of these, in the form of poured concrete bracketing the river, can be found to the SE, upstream from the intersection. "Monumental" in scale, the style of these buildings is different from those at Kemp Town, built a few years earlier: the Brighton area's architecture was moving "away from Regency towards the Neo- Renaissance". Pevsner stated that the heavy bracketing of the eaves on this section "shows at once that we are on the way to the Victorian age". Burton's ramps, saved from demolition in the 1960s, were an integral part of the composition. The 3–5–3 composition is repeated around the corner at the bottom of the west-facing section, omitting only the central pediment.

With the abandonment of divisions in SEC men's basketball starting in 2011–12, the top four teams in the conference standings received first-round byes. The dancheong, or decorative paintwork, of Gakhwangjeon Hall's exterior has almost completely worn away. The remnants around the bracketing, and photos from Record of Ancient Sites and Monuments in Korea, however, indicate that the building had originally been painted in the sophisticated geumdancheong style. The triangular-shaped wall paintings between the bracket clusters of the first floor are the largest visible sections, alternating between potted lotus flowers and peony blossoms. On the facade they are depicted in full bloom but on the side walls they can be seen growing smaller in size until towards the rear, where the lotuses are mere buds while the peonies appear as lilies of the valley.

The Fobes-O'Donnell House is located in what is now a rural setting of northern Oakham, on the south side of the junction of Old Turnpike Road and Hunt Road. It is a 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a side gable roof, central chimney, and clapboarded exterior. The main facade is five bays wide, with symmetrically placed windows around the center entrance, A single-story porch extends across the front, with late 19th-century Victorian bracketing and slender columns. The interior follows a typical central chimney plan, with a narrow entrance vestibule, kitchen to the left, and parlor to the right.

Photographers with heavy telephoto lens attachments use a tripod to stabilize their camera to get sharp images Tripods are used for both still and motion photography to prevent camera movement. They are necessary when slow-speed exposures are being made, or when lenses of extreme focal length are used, as any camera movement while the shutter is open will produce a blurred image. In the same vein, they reduce camera shake, and thus are instrumental in achieving maximum sharpness. A tripod is also helpful in achieving precise framing of the image, or when more than one image is being made of the same scene, for example when bracketing the exposure.

The entrance is sheltered by a porch extending across the bay's width, with a decorative wooden frieze below the roof between its square posts. The building originally had other period details, including bracketing in the eaves and vertical board finish on the projecting bay, but these have been lost or obscured due to the application of modern siding. The house was built about 1890, early in the development of Oak Hill as a streetcar suburb serving workers in the city's downtown and southern factories. In terms of recognising orogeny as an event, Leopold von Buch (1855) recognised that orogenies could be placed in time by bracketing between the youngest deformed rock and the oldest undeformed rock, a principle which is still in use today, though commonly investigated by geochronology using radiometric dating. Based on available observations from the metamorphic differences in orogenic belts of Europe and North America, H. J. Zwart (1967) proposed three types of orogens in relationship to tectonic setting and style: Cordillerotype, Alpinotype, and Hercynotype. His proposal was revised by W. S. Pitcher in 1979 in terms of the relationship to granite occurrences. Cawood et al.

Among the clearest examples of the style are the windows and front porch: the windows (some paired and some single) feature rounded arches, while the porch features small columns with decorative elements both at top and bottom. Some of the windows (more on the side than on the front) are rectangular instead of rounded; some of these feature complicated lintel constructions instead of simple frames. Besides the "normal" porch surrounding the main entrance, the house includes a subsidiary second-story porch placed above the entrance to the main porch. The hip roof covering the house is supported on all sides by bracketing, which combines to form a decorative cornice.

If a Condorcet winner exists, they will be elected. If not, (there is a Condorcet cycle) then the preference with the smallest majority will be eliminated. The Turner-Ledbetter House is a historic house at 1700 South Louisiana Street in Little Rock, Arkansas. It is a two-story wood frame structure, its exterior mostly finished in brick, with a hip roof and a variety of dormers, projections, porches, and decorative elements typical of the Queen Anne period of architecture. Notable features include a three-story turret with flared conical roof, an entry porch with turned posts, bracketing, and a spindled balustrade, and windows with stone sills. The house was built in 1891-92 for Susan Turner, and was given additional Craftsman styling during renovations in the early decades of the 20th century.

The novelist Samuel Richardson included Carter's poem "Ode to Wisdom" in the text of his novel Clarissa (1747–48) without ascribing it to her. It was later published in a corrected form the Gentleman's Magazine and Carter received an apology from Richardson. Elizabeth Gaskell, the 19th- century novelist, refers to Carter as an epistolatory model, bracketing her in Cranford with Hester Chapone, a self-taught Bluestocking.Cranford, Chapter V-- Old Letters Virginia Woolf saw her as a feminist precursor – urging "homage to the robust shade of Eliza Carter – the valiant old woman who tied a bell to her bedstead in order that she might wake early and learn Greek."V.

Artist's restoration of the juvenile specimen During the conference where Bambiraptor was first introduced, the dinosaur reconstruction specialist Brian Cooley portrayed Bambiraptor as having feathers, despite the fact that no feathers were found with the fossil itself. His decision was influenced by the fact that because Bambiraptor within a cladistic analysis was a member of a group, Paraves, that contained feathered true birds and that was the sister taxon of Oviraptorosauria, a group that also had feathered forms (e.g. Caudipteryx), Bambiraptor most likely had feathers too due to phylogenetic bracketing. Most paleontologists support Cooley's view, and subsequent discoveries confirmed that small dromaeosaurid dinosaurs like Bambiraptor were fully covered in feathers (see Dromaeosauridae for more information).

With the dredging of the harbor in the 1870s and the extension of the piers bracketing it, the need was felt for a light to guide ships into the harbor entrance, as the existing lighthouse high above the water did no more than indicate the location of the town. Accordingly, a short wooden tower was constructed at the end of the north pier, equipped with a fourth-order Fresnel lens. This light supplanted the older lighthouse in 1903, but the keepers of the newer light continued to live in the latter, as no dwelling was provided on the pier. The beacon itself was automated in 1924 but the fog signal continued in manual operation.

134-144 Bourke Street, Melbourne, Australia The Hoyts cinema Centre, designed in 1966 and completed in 1969, is considered unique due to the shape of the building, taking similar traits to an upside down oriental pagoda was seen to be of considerable interest in the local area. In fact the design was based on a structural idea of bracketing each floor out similar to the way in which very wide eave overhangs were created in Chinese and Japanese roofs. This particular building is the largest built project by Peter Muller and was the first 'cinema centre' of its kind in Australia; housing three screens in the complex.National Trust Database; file number B6961, "Hoyts Cinema Centre".

An 1896 project to improve harbor facilities resulted in the reconstruction of the sides of the Duluth Ship Canal, bracketing it in the two concrete piers which define its channel to the present. While the south pier had been equipped with a light from 1874, the north pier was unlit, and given the difficult approach (highlighted by the notorious wreck of the SS Mataafa in 1905), calls for aids were soon made. A 1908 Lighthouse Board report, in recommending construction of a light on the north pier, noted that a private aid was already being placed on the pier. Appropriation was made in 1909, and a tower was erected and lit the following year.

An alternative hypothesis (Lewis 1994) is that Cardan was referring to the highly penitential First Book of four-part motets; however, in neither case is it clear how Gombert was able to compose while rowing in the galleys as a prisoner. It is not known how long Gombert lived after his pardon or what positions, if any, he held; his career faded into relative obscurity after he was freed. He may have retired to Tournai, spending the final years of his life as canon there. Bracketing dates for his probable death are 1556 and 1561; in the former year Finck mentioned that he was still living, and in 1561 Cardan wrote that he was dead, without giving details.

The selection committee uses a number of factors to place teams on the S-curve, including record, strength of schedule, and the NET in the Division I men's tournament and the RPI in all other championship tournaments. Relative subjective comparison of individual teams close on the S-Curve are also considered. Though the brackets only feature the seed numbers 1-16 in each region, the committee assembles an S-curve of teams seeded from 1 through 68. In theory, the teams 1-4 on the seed list will all be #1 seeds (the #1 "seed line"), 5-8 will be #2 seeds (the #2 seed line), and so on; however, bracketing rules often lead to some deviation from this.

The front matter consists of a dedication "To the Honourable Lady Elizabeth Warburton", occupying two pages, a three-page Preface to the First Edition, and a fold-out plate of a suitable stove, complete with a "Description of the Plate" on the facing page. Plagiarism was combated in later editions (from as early as 1775) with the declaration at the foot of the title page "N. B. Findlay translated into English Husserl's Logische Untersuchungen (Logical Investigations ), which he regarded as the author's best work, representing a developmental stage when the idea of phenomenological bracketing was not yet taken as the basis of a philosophical system, covering in fact for loose subjectivism. To Findlay, the work was also one of the peaks of philosophy generally, suggesting superior alternatives both for overly minimalistic or naturalistic efforts in ontology and for Ordinary Language treatments of consciousness and thought. Findlay also contributed final editing and wrote addenda to translations of Hegel's Logic and Phenomenology of Spirit. And in 2013 Oxford University Press added Findlay's Kant book to the list of works it now reprints on demand .

The Maple Grove Friends Church is set on the west side of United States Route 1A in southern Fort Fairfield, a short way north of its junction with Up Country Road. It is a modest single-story wood frame structure, with clapboard siding, stone foundation, front-gable roof, and a three-stage square tower at its northeast corner. The east-facing front is dominated by a large stained-glass window and the tower, whose lower stage houses the main entrance, sheltered by a gabled hood with Italianate bracketing. The middle stage of the tower is shingled, and the upper stage has an open belfry with round-arch openings; the tower is topped by a pyramidal roof.

That same day, the U.S. government announced that foreign athletes would be exempted from pandemic-related travel bans still in effect. On May 26, Bettman formally discussed aspects of the "Return to Play Plan", including the proposed 24-team playoff format (with the top four teams in each conference playing a round robin tournament under regular season overtime rules to determine their seeds), and modifications to the procedures for the Draft Lottery. Aspects of the format (including the possibility of a best-of-five format for the first and second round, and changes to bracketing) were still being negotiated, but it was stated that the conference finals and Stanley Cup Finals would still use a best-of-seven series.

In the engagement, the Japanese had numerous large-caliber battleship and cruiser main guns with much more range and power than the Americans, but the Japanese guns lacked a blind fire capability and were thwarted by rain squalls and by smoke laid by screening American destroyers. In 1911, Gustaf Lindberg, established a logging camp and company town near the Glenavon station, which in addition to the logging camp included a shingle mill and saw mill. Due to financial difficulties, Lindberg lost his property in the mid 1920s, but the camp continued with the name Lindberg & Hoby Logging Camp into the 1940s. As of 1928, there were two train stops bracketing Lindberg, East Fork (formerly Glenavon) to the north and Coal Canyon to the south, the latter name eventually replaced Lindberg. The area shows few signs of the logging operation, but both sides of the road through this section are dotted with houses and businesses, all which bare a Morton address, though they are outside Morton town limits.

Phylogenetic bracketing can also be used to evidence the lack of feathered integument by inference. For example, the presence of scaly integument in a specific clade would be a strong indicator that members in the clade would share similar integument, as independent evolution of feathers multiple times is unlikely, regardless if fossil evidence is present for all genera within the clade. Grey denotes a clade that is not known to contain any feathered specimen at the time of writing, some of which have fossil evidence of scales. The presence or lack of feathered specimens in a given clade does not confirm that all members in a clade have the specified integument, unless corroborated with representative fossil evidence within clade members.

When quill knobs are present, this is considered a strong indication that the animal had long remiges on the wings. Since quill knobs are rare in the fossil record, paleontologists mainly relied on phylogenetic bracketing to determine if a species was likely to have had wing feathers - if a relative on a "higher" branch of the evolutionary tree had the feathers, and one on a "lower" branch down had them also, then a species in the middle position likely did as well. Dakotaraptor’s quill knobs show that the animal unequivocally had prominent wing feathers, making it the largest dromaeosaurid with confirmed plumage of that type. The quill knobs of Dakotaraptor have a diameter of about , which shows that these feathers were rather large.

Bill's conviction is overturned, and Ralph, now nearly catatonic, is sent to an asylum for the criminally insane for the rest of his natural life. The film's story is told in bracketing sequences at a lecture given at a parent-teacher association meeting by high-school principal Dr. Alfred Carroll. The dynamic range of the Nikon D3200 (Expeed 3 named Expeed 2 type, 14 bits reduced to 12 bits) exceeds even full-frame DSLRs like Nikon D3S (Expeed 2 named Expeed (1) type, 14 bits) or Canon 5D MK3 (DIGIC 5+, 14 bits) at low film speeds (ISO 100 and ISO 200) due to reduced effective resolution of the analog-to-digital converters. The D3200 does not have automatic exposure bracketing. The very high dynamic range of the Nikon D3200 makes it possible to shoot high dynamic range images (HDR, mostly created by combining multiple images with different exposures) with one shot, especially when using raw image format.
