They are allowed six-month work permits at Araminta Station, the main settlement, an enclave of on Deucas, the most hospitable of Cadwal's three continents.

Given their attractive appearance, the Yip females naturally take part in considerable prostitution. Indeed, Yip girls are compelled to take part in this to gain money for the Yip State. In Araminta Station, the Yips are confined to the small Lutwen Islands. They would dearly love to colonise the hospitable continent of Deucas but are prevented from doing so by members of the Conservancy who, pursuant to the Charter, consider Cadwal to be a nature preserve and prevent humans from forming large settlements.

He won his first PGA Tour title in just his fourth event of 1993, the AT&T; Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. He won one other tournament on the tour, the Hawaiian Open in 1994. He was unable to maintain that form as he struggled with the yips, and lost his card at the end of the 1996 season. Beginning after part of the intro, Mr. Largo discourages Lisa from playing the saxophone on the account that, no matter how hard she tries, some people will be better than her, a claim supported by Principal Skinner. Meanwhile, the family waits for Lisa to take part in a lumberjack-themed couch gag. At home, Marge attempts to make Lisa play in front of the family, but is unable to. Looking in the Internet, she finds out she has an incurable disorder called "the YIPS", which disable an expert performer for no reason whatsoever.

However, Bureau B is under no illusions that the danger has been averted. Glawen Clattuc is sent off-world with Eustace Chilke to feel out Lewyn Barduys, a construction magnate who had been seen talking with Dame Clytie. Bureau B fears that Barduys will be persuaded to provide enough transportation for the Yips to burst out of their severely overcrowded atoll and overwhelm the Conservancy with their vastly greater numbers. When Glawen finally tracks Barduys down, he and Chilke arrive just in time to save the man's life.

The origin of Chandler's songs range from 16th century Spanish ballads, to a tale of a hanging in nearby Burnsville, to a prison song from Gastonia. Allmusic writes that Chandler sings with "deft precision, often with the song's strong sexual undercurrents intact". The Season 5 episode of Northern Exposure “Blood Ties” features an explicit reference to Blass during a discussion of Dr. Joel Fleischman’s sudden inability to hit a vein while attempting to draw blood.

However, his season was beset with issues, he was placed on the disabled list in May after suffering a dislocated left shoulder while weight- lifting, battled the yips in June which led to another lengthy stint on the disabled list. Jamie Cope (born 12 September 1985) is an English former professional snooker player. A finalist in two ranking tournaments, the 2006 Grand Prix and the 2007 China Open, Cope also reached the semi-finals of the 2011 Masters. He reached his highest ranking, 13th, in September 2010, but thereafter developed a tremor which has been attributed to being either an essential tremor or the yips, which makes his cue arm shake. This condition caused Cope to slip markedly down the rankings in the 2010s, culminating in his relegation from the main tour at the end of the 2016–17 season.

Then, after the murder of her brother (engineered by a Yip), Wayness reveals to Glawen that while she was visiting Earth, her father's cousin became the secretary of the nearly moribund Naturalist Society and discovered that the Charter was missing (a previous secretary had been a thief and sold the society's assets). Whoever possesses it is the legal owner of Cadwal. She decides to return alone to Earth to search for it. Glawen is ordered by Bureau B chief Bodwyn Wook to join the Bold Lions (a boisterous drinking club for devil-may-care youths) and travel to Yipton with them on an annual jaunt, using the opportunity to spy on the Yips.

The now disappeared Wong Nai Chung Village (黃泥涌村) was settled by the Ngs (吳) and Yips (葉), both Hakkas from the mainland, before the British settlement on Hong Kong Island. It was located part-way up the slope that Blue Pool Road follows today and below today's Village Road. Wong Nai Chung Village was replaced with residential buildings in the 1920s, as a consequence of urban development. The street is named after the former "Blue Pool", a natural feature near the former Wong Nai Chung Village, in which people could bathe until around World War I. The Pool was fed by the Wong Nai Chung river, which then flowed into Victoria Harbour.

The novels are in the third person, though they sometimes come close to an omniscient narrator viewpoint, and are told mainly from Glawen's point of view (with the exception of part of the second novel, which is told from the perspective of Wayness Tamm). He is an intelligent, capable young man and a member of the Conservancy at Araminta Station. Although his initial index number is a little high, Glawen has reasonable hopes for Agency status. He joins Bureau B, the department responsible for enforcing the laws of the Charter, and quickly becomes embroiled in a plot by the Yips to take over Deucas (possibly with the assistance of traitors at Araminta Station).

The Olympic marmot's whistles include flat calls, ascending calls, descending calls, and trills; all of these are in a small frequency range of about 2,700 Hz. Flat, ascending, and descending calls are most often voiced singly. The ascending call has a duration of about half a second, starting with a "yell" on one note and ending with a "chip" on a higher note; it is often used as a distress or warning call for unfamiliar smells and noises. These same "yips" are heard when Olympic marmots are play fighting, along with low growls and chattering of teeth. The descending call ends on a lower note than the one on which it started.

Born and raised on a farm in Royalton, Minnesota, Mary Jane (February 1, 1917 - 1981) and Carolyn DeZurik (December 24, 1918 - March 16, 2009) were part of a family of seven. Their father Joe played fiddle, their sisters sang, and their brother Jerry played accordion and guitar. Inspired by their family and the sounds of the animals and birds around them, they developed an astonishing repertoire of high, haunting yodels and yips that soon had them winning talent contests all over central Minnesota. In 1936, they signed a contract to appear regularly on Chicago radio station WLS-AM's National Barn Dance, and were hired in 1937 to perform on Purina Mills' Checkerboard Time radio show, where they sang as The Cackle Sisters. In 1938, the sisters recorded six songs for Vocalion Records: "I Left Her Standing There" (Vocalion 4616-A), "Arizona Yodeler" (Vocalion 4616-B), "Sweet Hawaiian Chimes" (Vocalion 4704-A), "Guitar Blues" (Vocalion 4704-B), "Go To Sleep My Darling Baby" (Vocalion 4781-A) and "Birmingham Jail" (Vocalion 4781-B).
