After a two-year deployment to the West Indies, Alarm was beached in order to examine the effects of the experiment.

The stage at Fairport's Cropredy Convention in August 2009 Kami Thompson and Fairport Convention, 2012 Dave Mattacks moved to the US in 1998, and Gerry Conway took over on drums and percussion. Fairport produced two more studio albums for Woodworm Records: The Wood and the Wire (2000) and XXXV (2002). Then, for Over the Next Hill (2004) they established a new label: Matty Grooves Records. In this period the band toured extensively in the UK, Europe, Australasia, Europe, the US and Canada, and staged a major fund raiser for Dave Swarbrick at the Birmingham Symphony Hall. In 1998, members of the band began their association with the Breton musician Alan Simon.

In 1981 Pegg joined Ralph McTell and ex-Fairport members Richard Thompson and Dave Mattacks in the GPs (an abbreviation for the 'Grazed Pontiffs', after a comment by Dave Mattacks following the attempted assassination of the Pope). In 1924, Lefroy and his assistant Elizabeth Eades started producing bottles of woodworm treatment fluid from a small factory in Hatton Garden to manage a stream of requests, this led to the formation by them of a company called Rentokil Limited (now Rentokil Initial) in 1925.

Haworth also has a long song-writing pedigree and has had several of his compositions recorded by other artists including Lulu, Sandy Denny and Mary Black (for the latter on her 1999 album Speaking with the Angel). He made a brief UK tour in September 1997, with a line-up of Haworth (vocals, guitar) Jeff Hamer (guitar), Terry 'Tex' Comer (bass) (previously of the band Ace) and Henry Spinetti (drums). An old woodworm who lives in a very small piece of wood, near the top of a mountain, tells the story of his ancestors... Willi, the oldest ancestor in the old worm's family tree, lives on a hole in a trunk, alongside his wife, Alice. One day, while both of them are eating in their house, it starts shaking. It turns out that this is one of the many trunks used to build an ark, constructed by a carpenter named Noah, who is discussing with God about the construction plans. God tells him that in the ark, he and his family will be saved and that he has to save a couple from each animal species.

In 1492, many believe that the Earth is flat and that ships could fall over the planet's edge; the dangers of the ocean have thus far prevented the extensive travel that would disprove this belief. However, Italian navigator Christopher Columbus theorizes that the Earth is a cube, which negatively affects his cartography. An adventuring woodworm named Pico eats away the corners of Columbus' cube globe, which convinces him that the Earth is round. With the prospect of falling off the Earth eliminated, Columbus concludes that he could reach the Indies faster by sea travel than Marco Polo had done by land, and he goes to present his theory to King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella in the hope of receiving funding for an expedition.

David Cyril Eric Swarbrick (5 April 1941 – 3 June 2016) was an English folk musician and singer-songwriter. He has been described by Ashley Hutchings as "the most influential [British] fiddle player bar none" and his style has been copied or developed by almost every British and many world folk violin players who have followed him.Fairport Convention, The Cropredy Box (Woodworm, WR3CD026, 1998) disk 2. He was one of the most highly regarded musicians produced by the second British folk revival, contributing to some of the most important groups and projects of the 1960s, and he became a much sought-after session musician, which led him throughout his career to work with many of the major figures in folk and folk rock music.

After their 1979 album Sunnyvista had sold poorly, Richard and Linda Thompson found themselves without a record deal. Thinking that he's in love, Del heads to Miranda's shop, which is closed due to an infestation of woodworm, and is informed that she's gone to the local auction house. Meanwhile, as early as 1952 St George's Church was found to have been experiencing subsidence "for some time", and when Canon Curtin took over the church the altar and most of the seats had to be destroyed because they were infested with dry rot and woodworm respectively; the church was unheated, the walls and floor "were of rough uncovered cement", and the site was found to be waterlogged causing the building to be affected by damp.
