The Tribesmen reeled off five points without reply after the restart to narrow the deficit, however, it was as close as they got to Waterford. In spite of this a shock looked like a very real possibility with Limerick, who had played into a stiff breeze, belying their massive underdog tag with a first-half display of poise and class. Even seven minutes into the second half, that shock still looked likely, with Limerick easily containing the anticipated Kilkenny backlash. The following twelve minutes saw Kilkenny up the ante and score 205 without reply to sink Limerick's challenge. Aidan Fogarty and Colin Fennelly bagged the goals that secured a 4-16 to 1-16 victory.

At half time, this expectation looked justified, as they led 2–1 with goals from Lewis and Bill Robertson, but in the second half Blackpool pulled themselves together and scored twice without reply (as well as having three more "goals" disallowed for offside) to secure their first away victory of the season.

Van de Pas faced Paul Nicholson in the opening round and made a dream start by throwing a 180 in his first visit and went on to take the first set without reply. The match would go into a deciding set in which van de Pas won all three legs, sealing it with a 109 finish. He continued his progress by twice coming from behind against world number eight Dave Chisnall to defeat him 4–2.
Whilst at Oxford University, Evans played for the university football team but failed to win a blue. In 1876, he replied to an advertisement placed by Llewelyn Kenrick in "The Field" seeking Welsh players to represent their country in a match against Scotland. Evans was the only player from South Wales selected for the first Welsh international XI, with the others all from North Wales (other than John Hawley Edwards who was born in Shrewsbury in England and had previously represented the England national football team). The match was played at Hamilton Crescent, Partick, the home of the West of Scotland Cricket Club on 25 March 1876 and the Welsh were well defeated, conceding four goals without reply.
In what many consider to be the greatest provincial championship decider of them all, Cork narrowly lost on a 3–16 to 1–21 score line. The game was not without incident for Murphy, who was involved in an off-the-ball altercation which led to John Mullane's sending off. In spite of surrendering their provincial crown, Cork still reached the All-Ireland final via the back door. Kilkenny provided the opposition on a gloomy and overcast day, however, the game failed to live up to expectations. The sides were level for much of the game, and in the final twenty minutes Cork scored nine points without reply and secured a 0–17 to 0–9 victory.

Eight Midlands clubs formed a league to be played as a supplementary competition to fill vacant dates in the season without the trouble and expense of arranging friendly matches, later joined by Small Heath and Notts County. Small Heath's first four matches in this United Counties League were played in February. After "a creditable draw" at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers of the First Division, they "thoroughly deserved" to win the return match 2–1. West Bromwich Albion took a 5–1 lead in the first half at Coventry Road, yet in the second, the Small Heath forwards raised their level of performance, scored three times without reply, and were unfortunate not to secure a draw.
The 1925–26 British Home Championship was an international football tournament played during the 1925–26 season between the British Home Nations. The competition was won at a canter by Scotland, who whitewashed all three opponents, scoring eight goals in three games without reply. Scotland began to competition as they finished it, with a 3–0 defeat of Wales in Cardiff as England and Ireland played a tame scoreless draw as the tournament opener. Ireland improved from their poor first match performance against Wales in their second game, running out 3–0 winners to move into second place, but were hammered 4–0 by Scotland in their final game, ending any hopes of a winners place.
The following Saturday, Yeovil visited Coventry City searching for their sixth consecutive league victory and this was achieved thanks to a goal in first half injury time from in-form Irish striker Paddy Madden. This sound defensive display led to Dan Burn being included in the Team of the Week for the second consecutive week. On 12 February, Yeovil matched their club record for consecutive wins in the Football League with their seventh consecutive victory after coming from behind against Preston North End. The Glovers were trailing to Chris Beardsley's goal at half time, but scored three second-half goals without reply from Hayter, Nathan Ralph and top scorer Paddy Madden with his ninth goal in just six appearances.
One of the most abiding memories of that game is of Keher grabbing the sliotar out of the sky and racing up the wing in the shadow of the Hogan Stand. From that sideline position Keher pucked the sliotar as if going for a point, however, the sliotar dropped short, deceiving Cork goalkeeper Paddy Barry, and ending up in the back of the net. After scoring that goal an almost emotionless Keher simply turned around to go back to his normal playing position with blood pouring out of a cut over his eye. Keher finished the game with a tally of 2-9 as Kilkenny scored seven points without reply to capture a memorable 3-24 to 5-11 victory.
Germany continued on the winning path the following day, taking a four- goal lead at half-time against Slovenia in a rerun of the 2004 final, before Slovenia pegged them back to 27–27 midway through the second half. The following nine minutes gave the Germans a five-goal advantage, with keeper Henning Fritz conceding one goal in those nine minutes, and with five minutes to spare Slovenia could only come back to a three-goal deficit. Nevertheless, Germany were still third in the group, as France beat Poland by ten goals and Spain were eventually pegged back to 31–29 by Ukraine after conceding five goals without reply in the last seven minutes. However, Ukraine missed a penalty shot from Konstantyyn Tkhorevskyy and Spain prevailed.
Carlo Ancelotti, the only man to manage both Reggiana and Parma, went on to win major titles with Milan and Chelsea. In the 1989–90 Serie B season, both teams performed well, chasing promotion to Serie A. Fan trouble was caused by Parma fans in the Reggio Emilia game in late December, when they attempted to halt the train early in order to avoid police controls and also damaged locals' cars. In the match itself, Parma were superior, Maurizio Ganz scoring twice without reply. In the return match at the Tardini, Parma secured promotion to Serie A for the first time in its history. Nevio Scala's team again won the game 2–0 thanks to goals from Alessandro Melli and Marco Osio.
The match was played at Hamilton Crescent, Partick, the home of the West of Scotland Cricket Club on 25 March 1876, with Davies playing at outside-right in a 2–2–6 formation. The Welsh were well defeated, conceding four goals without reply. Described as "equally at home as a forward or half back (who) could pass the ball accurately and possessed good dribbling skills", Davies was sometimes criticised for selfishness, although "his presence as a forward always meant danger for opposing defences." On 18 January 1879, he was one of eight Oswestry based players to be selected for the first international match between Wales and England, including three who were spending a season with Oswestry as their own club, Druids, was temporarily without a ground.
The U's followed up their defeat with a goalless draw against Oldham Athletic at the Community Stadium on 18 August. Colchester's trip to Fleetwood Town on 22 August saw them concede two goals in either half without reply to continue their winless start to the season. Colchester boosted their ranks on 27 August with the signing of former Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town midfielder Owen Garvan on a short-term contract until January, before reinforcing the midfield further with the loan signing of Charlton Athletic winger Callum Harriott on loan until 2 January 2016. The U's guaranteed a winless start to the new season on 29 August when they fought back from two goals down to draw 2–2 with Scunthorpe United at the Community Stadium.
This game was a one-sided affair with the Aztecs posting 50 points without reply. But, the Banshees were soon to taste their first win, when they beat a full-strength Reading Renegades. A late- season game with Division One Oxford Saints ended with victory going to the Saints but the Banshees had successfully completed their Associate campaign and awaited the deliberations of the assessor from League HQ. Going on the strength of superb facilities that included a full-sized 100-yard playing field, the British American Football League promoted the Banshees to full league membership in November 2008. The Banshees drafted players from the now- defunct Hereford Chargers in preparation for their first season as full members of the British American Football League.
The club once again had a slow start to the season, but a long winning streak followed, which took them to the top of the table by the end of September. A series of inconsistent results then followed, mainly away from home, and the club eventually finished the season in fifth place. In November a 'landlords vs tenants' match at Queensgate between Bridlington Town and Scarborough Athletic attracted a division record of 1,082 fans and in April, Athletic hit 13 goals without reply against relegated Brodsworth Welfare – a record for the club and division. This season also saw Scarborough Athletic enter the FA Cup for the first time, although they fell at the first hurdle, losing 2–1 at home to Guisborough Town in the extra-preliminary round.
He reached the quarter-finals of the UK Championship, but lost 4–6 against Bingham, despite making breaks of 135 and 127 in the match. Ronnie O’Sullivan at an autograph session in Berlin after he could not qualify for the German Masters At the Masters, O'Sullivan defeated Robert Milkins 6–1 in the first round, before he whitewashed Ricky Walden 6–0 in the quarter-finals, a match that lasted just 57 minutes and 48 seconds. During the match he scored 556 points without reply, a new record in a professional event, beating the previous record of 495 points set by Ding Junhui at the 2007 Premier League Snooker. He defeated Stephen Maguire 6–2 in the semi-finals to reach a record tenth Masters final, surpassing the nine appearances by Stephen Hendry.
Tian scored only 37 points in the match. In the third round, he defeated Jimmy Robertson 4–0 in 55 minutes, a performance that included breaks of 94 and 131 as part of a run of 300 points without reply. He defeated Yu Delu 4–1 in the last 16, and then defeated world number one Mark Selby 5–1 in the quarter-finals, finishing with a break of 132. A 6–3 victory over Joe Perry in the semi-final secured a place in the final against Neil Robertson. Despite trailing 3–5 after the afternoon session, O'Sullivan won all six frames played in the evening session, finishing with a break of 141 to defeat Robertson 9–5 and equal John Higgins's record of four Welsh Open titles.
For the sixth time in eight seasons, Kilkenny and Tipperary faced off in an All- Ireland final on 4 September 2016. The pattern of the first-half saw the teams refusing to yield as they stayed close to each other. Kilkenny may have been in front 0-3 to 0-1 after seven minutes but Tipperary soon reeled them in and the teams were level ten times on the scoreboard in the opening period. Seven minutes after the restart, Kilkenny led by 1-14 to 0-15 after a Kevin Kelly goal, however, they then conceded 1-04 without reply which put Tipperary firmly back in control. By the 55th minute, Tipperary had stormed 1-22 to 1-15 and the final nail was hammered into Kilkenny’s coffin with John McGrath’s blast to the net.
On 6 June he organized a meeting of the delegates with Lord Northesk to whom he handed a petition and a form of ultimatum that their grievances be addressed within a period of 54 hours, after which he warned "such steps by the Fleet will be taken as will astonish their dear countrymen". The increasing tension led to the desertion of the mutiny by several ships, and even some of the radical delegates began to sense the end and fled abroad. The fear that the by now thoroughly demonized Parker would also escape led to a reward of £500 (equivalent to £ in present-day terms) being posted for his arrest. When the delegates' deadline passed without reply, Parker ordered that the fleet sail for Texel on the morning of 9 June.
Leinster defeated Connacht at Parnell Park, scoring 7–4 without reply. Ulster defeated Munster by a point in Carrickmacross, 4–3 to 3–5. Leinster pulled away in the second half of the final with three goals from Josie Kehoe and two from Orla Ni Siochain to win by 5–4 to 0–5.Report of final in Irish Press, 1 November 1971Report of final in Irish Independent, 1 November 1971Report of final in Irish Times, 1 November 1971Report of final in Irish Examiner, 1 November 1971Report of final in Irish News, 1 November 1971 Agnes Hourigan wrote in the Irish Press: > The game was won and lost in the ten minutes after the interval when > Leinster scored three goals and two points and Ulster's only score was a > point from a thirty.
Elsewhere in the top- flight, Ipswich Town rack up a fifth win in a row by beating Manchester United 4–1, Tottenham Hotspur play out a goalless draw at Sheffield Wednesday, Birmingham City put four without reply past West Ham United, who slump into fifth, below both Ipswich and Spurs. In the rest of the Football League, Liverpool are seven points clear of Scunthorpe United at the top of the Second Division, South Coast clubs Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic and Portsmouth lead Division Three, and Welsh club Wrexham, who have recorded 14 wins already this season, are top of the Fourth Division. 23 April 1962: Ipswich beat Arsenal 3–0 and Burnley are held by Blackburn Rovers in the East Lancashire derby, giving Town a two-point lead over Burnley at the top of Division One.
Contained there among other inclusions, Colardeau's version of Pope is paired with one of the earlier verse epistles in Abelard's name by De Beauchamps. A closer translation of Pope's poem by Aimé Ambroise Joseph Feutry (1720–89), first published in 1758, is replied to by Claude Joseph Dorat’s 1760 imitation, Epître d’Abeilard à Héloïs. Louis-Sébastien Mercier’s ‘imitation’ of Pope's epistle (published in 1763) is followed by a later revised reply by Dorat dating from 1767. The succeeding Épitre d’Héloïse à son Époux, an imitation of Eloisa's response to the Historia Calamitatum, devised by Sébastien Marie Mathurin Gazon-Dourxigné (1720–84) but dependent on Pope for its occasion and Gothic setting, is followed by a reply by André-Charles Cailleau. Bernard- Joseph Saurin’s 1765 ‘imitation’ of Pope appears without reply but has as companion piece scenes from a play based on the story.
The final was played as a curtain raiser to the Tipperary v Kerry Munster hurling championship tie in Thurles and Cork ran up 2-10 without reply in the opening 20 minutes. By half time it was 5-13 to 0-3. When Dierdre Hughes pointed forty second after the start of the second half Cork replied with two goals within a minute.Report of final in Evening Echo, May 23, 1999Report of final in Irish Independent, May 23, 1999Report of final in Irish Times, May 23, 1999Report of final in Irish Examiner, May 23, 1999Report of final in Irish News, May 23, 1999 Gerry Slevin wrote in the Guardian: > The idea was good, playing a major camogie fixture before a hurling match, > now the ladies have upped their complement of players to fifteen a side, > using a full pitch.
Previously the senior team had entered the 2003 South Pacific Games, performing poorly, losing all four games and conceding 52 goals without reply. This was the last recorded time that any Micronesian team had played against full international sides, although individual islands of Micronesia competed in the 2014 Micronesia Games. However, before the tournament, Kiribati withdrew, Guam chose not to send a team and the Northern Mariana Islands were unable to send a team as their regular squad was playing in the EAFF East Asian Cup, leaving non-FIFA member Palau as the only international representative and Micronesia competing as separate states. Under the auspices of manager Stan Foster and assistant manager Curtis Graham, The Federated States of Micronesia under-23 team, nicknamed the Four Stars, began training in the second half of 2014 in unusual circumstances.
All four quarter-finals were played between 29 and 30 March. The first quarter-final was between three-time Irish Masters champion Stephen Hendry and fellow Scot McManus. Hendry took 50 minutes to lead 4–0 as McManus scored 21 points in this period. McManus won the fifth frame with a break of 51 to prevent a whitewash before Hendry took the following two frames in 23 minutes to win 6–1 and qualify for the semi-finals for the eighth time in the season and defeated his opponent for the 19th time. Hendry outscored McManus 557 points to 94 and amassed 358 points without reply as the latter failed to a ball in five frames. Mark Williams, the 2000 World Snooker Championship winner, faced fellow Welsh player Stevens in the second quarter- final in a rematch of the world final.
Tipp faced a strong sun in the opening half and conceded two early points without reply. A goal by Eddie Gleeson after fifteen minutes gave Tipp the lead and by half-time they had stretched their advantage to 4–3 to 0–3. Kilkenny fought back after the interval and goals by Tom Walton, Jack Mulcahy and Seánie O'Brien reduced Tipp's advantage to four points with ten minutes remaining. A Tony Brennan goal settled the game and gave Tipp the impetus once again as they finished the game as champions with a 5–6 to 3–6 victory. After a five-year absence, Kilkenny faced reigning champions Tipperary in the All-Ireland final on 3 September 1950. Kilkenny played into a gale-force wind and glaring sunshine for the opening period and took a 0–7 to 0–5 lead at the break.
In 1996, Manchester United notoriously introduced a grey strip which had been specifically designed to look good when worn with jeans, but abandoned it halfway through a match after manager Alex Ferguson claimed that the reason why his team was losing 3–0 was that the players could not see each other on the pitch. United switched to different colours for the second half and scored one goal without reply. The leading leagues also introduced squad numbers, whereby each player is allocated a specific number for the duration of a season. A brief fad arose for players celebrating goals by lifting or completely removing their shirts to reveal political, religious or personal slogans printed on undershirts. This led to a ruling from the International Football Association Board in 2002 that undershirts must not contain slogans or logos; since 2004 it has been a bookable offence for players to remove their shirts.
A poor start to the season was halted when Baird overcame Rory McLeod, Zhang Anda and Chris Melling all without dropping a frame at the Bulgarian Open, and then beat Jimmy Robertson 4–3 and Judd Trump 4–1 to make the semi-finals of an event for the second time. He was defeated 4–2 by Ryan Day. He lost 4–0 to John Higgins in the second round of the Welsh Open, but a further last 16 showing to add to his semi-final in the European Tour events saw him placed 25th on the Order of Merit to qualify for the Grand Final, but he lost 4–2 to Mark King in the first round. He qualified for the China Open and went 2–0 up on Stuart Bingham before conceding 547 points without reply, a record in ranking events, and went on to lose 5–3.
Two years later at the July 2015 AFF U-16 Youth Championship, Asyraf played all five games at the group stage of the competition. The Young Wasps managed a draw against Timor-Leste, but lost the next four. Two months later, he was immediately promoted to the Brunei national under-19 football team along with several other under-16 teammates for the 2016 AFC U-19 Championship qualification matches in Myanmar. The age gap was proved to be too much as Brunei let in 18 goals in four games without reply. Asyraf was called up for the Under-19s for a double header in 2017, namely the 2017 AFF U-18 Youth Championship and also the 2018 AFC U-19 Championship qualification in Myanmar and South Korea respectively. He played in all four group games at the AFF tournament, scoring against the Philippines (3-2) and Vietnam (1-8).
Brendan Maher returned to the team for the semi-final alongside Jason Forde who replaced Michael Breen in midfield. John O’Dwyer didn't start the game and was replaced in attack by Steven O’Brien. Donagh Maher picked up a hamstring injury in training the week before the game and will be out for a number of weeks. In dry and warm conditions, Tipperary won the game on a 5–18 to 1-19 scoreline. With ten minutes to go in the game, Tipperary were two points in front but they then went on a run of scoring 2-4 without reply in a five-minute spell to go on and win the game with ease in the end. Tipperary had a 2–6 to 0–8 lead at half time with the first half goals coming form John McGrath in the 6th minute and the second from Noel McGrath in the 18th minute after a pass from Niall O’Meara.
Aberdare's first match was played on 5 September 1908, when Wigan travelled to Ynys Park. A crowd of 3000 paid to watch the game. Wigan was ruthless, and it was reported that Aberdare 'evidenced a decided weakness in their application of the rules', as they lost the game 56-0, Wigan running in 12 tries without reply. A visit to St. Helens two weeks later saw Aberdare score their first League points, but still lost 13-36.Lush (1998), pg. 258 Worse was to come when they lost to fellow newly formed Welsh team Treherbert away from home, then in the return match the very next week they lost again in front of fewer than 300 spectators. The arrival of Wakefield Trinity drew a better crowd on 17 October, but the 26-0 loss brought Aberdare's losing streak to six games. This was followed by another loss to Merthyr Tydfil before the team recorded their first win in a Welsh League match against Treherbert.
Webster saw a welcome return to form at the 2014 World Championship by winning each of his first three games in deciding sets over Mensur Suljović (3–2), John Henderson (4–3 having survived three match darts) and Raymond van Barneveld 4–3 (winning the final six legs of the match without reply). He stated after the van Barneveld match that coming into the event his career was on the line as he was close to dropping out of the top 32, but by earning £25,000 for reaching the last eight his place was secured. Webster lost the first three sets of his quarter-final against Michael van Gerwen inside 20 minutes and was also 4–1 down. He then raised his game as the Dutchman's dropped off to win two sets in a row, but lost the next to see his run in the event end with a 5–3 defeat.
Carlow's 2016 league campaign began with a home defeat to Antrim, but the scallioneaters were given renewed hope with to a 4-4 to 1-11 victory in London, thanks in large part to a Sean Gannon hat-trick. Defeat at home to Waterford by 3-15 to 15 points appeared to spell the end of their promotion chances, but these chances seemed to be reinvigorated by a three-point win in Aughrim the following weekend in a game where Murphy was shown the black card after about 20 minutes. A positive start the following weekend at home to Louth saw Carlow in contention early on, but Louth took over, scoring 2-10 without reply, and ran out easy winners to end Carlow's promotion hopes. Carlow did, however, finish off the campaign in a relatively positive manner, with victory in Carrick-on-Shannon and a defeat away to Wexford, leaving them finishing 4th in Division 4. The 1st round of the Leinster championship saw Carlow reacquainted with Louth, and this time Carlow stayed with their heavily favoured opponents for much longer than in the league encounter just a couple of months earlier.
In the quarter-finals held on 16 February, Higginson achieved a maximum break in the second frame of his 5–1 victory over Ali Carter. It was the first maximum break of his career, the third in the history of the Welsh Open and the 56th in professional competition. Frames three and four were won by Higginson with breaks of 83 and 48 and accrued 342 points without reply. Carter prevented a whitewash with a break of 54 in frame five but Higginson won the match with a break of 104. Robertson won 5–4 against O'Sullivan in a closely contested match. Robertson went 2–0 up with breaks of 135 and 45, which O'Sullivan tied with breaks of 69 and 122 in the following two frames. O'Sullivan compiled a 109 break in frame five as he accumulated 322 unanswered points but Robertson had a reprieve when a button on O'Sullivan's waistcoat made contact with the yellow ball and won frame six. O'Sullivan won a fragmented seventh frame and Robertson took the match to a final frame decider with a century break of 124.

Marijanović qualified for the 2013 PDC World Darts Championship after coming through the Eastern European qualifier. He was beaten 3–4 by Northern Ireland's Daryl Gurney in the preliminary round. In February 2013 he played in his first World Cup of Darts, representing Croatia alongside Tonči Restović and they advanced from Group G courtesy of a 5–3 victory over New Zealand. They survived two match darts from Northern Ireland in the last 16 to win 5–4 and face the Belgium brothers Ronny and Kim Huybrechts in the quarter-finals. Restović lost to Kim and Marijanović lost to Ronny 1–4 to expel Croatia from the tournament. In September 2014, Marijanović qualified for the European Darts Grand Prix and was beaten 6–2 by Ryan de Vreede in the first round. He won the Bulls Superleague Eastern Europe Play- Offs to earn a place in the preliminary round of the 2015 World Championship with a 10–7 victory over Boris Krčmar. He survived three match darts from Jermaine Wattimena to beat him 4–3, but lost the first six legs of his first round game against Stephen Bunting to be 2–0 down. Marijanović took the next set before Bunting took the fourth without reply to win 3–1.
Ding was defeated in the first round of the next two consecutive tournaments, losing 5–2 to Stephen Maguire in the 2007 Malta Cup and 5–1 to Jamie Cope in the Welsh Open. In March 2007, Ding qualified for the televised stages of the World Championship for the first time after beating Mark Davis in the final qualifying round. His losing streak in ranking tournaments continued, with a 5–3 loss to Barry Hawkins in the first round of the China Open and a 10–2 loss against O'Sullivan at the World Championship. Despite this, Ding ended the 2006–07 season ranked world number 11. The following season, Ding was consistent, reaching the last 16 of all-but-one ranking event. However, he failed to reach a single semi-final, causing him to drop to number 13 in the world rankings. At the 2008 World Snooker Championship, Ding reached the second round for the first time, beating Marco Fu 10–9 before losing 13–7 to Stephen Hendry. During the 2007 Premier League Snooker, Ding recorded 495 unanswered points (most points without reply) against Stephen Hendry, setting a record for the most unanswered points in any professional snooker tournament.
Anderson qualified for the 2011 World Championship as the number 11 seed and in the first round played Japan's Morihiro Hashimoto. Anderson won 3–0 in sets, taking all nine legs without reply, with an average of 103.23. In the second round he faced two-time world champion Dennis Priestley, winning 4 sets to 2. He then defeated Andy Smith in the third round (whilst setting his highest World Championship average of 108.39), Raymond van Barneveld in the quarter-finals, and Terry Jenkins in the semi-finals to ensure his place in the final against Adrian Lewis. Anderson was defeated 7–5 by Lewis, who also hit a nine-dart finish during the first set of the match. Despite the loss, Anderson's run ensured him a place in the 2011 Premier League as he had moved into the top four on the Order of Merit. Anderson was the number two seed for the 2011 Players Championship Finals, and reached his second successive major final, where he played Phil Taylor. Anderson led 11–9, but Taylor checked out 128 in the deciding leg to win 13–12. In the Premier League he got off to a winning start by beating Simon Whitlock 8–5 on the opening night at the O2 Arena.
In the following season's competition, it was Barcelona who experienced an unexpected comeback defeat, losing 3–0 to Roma in Italy at the quarter-final stage and going out on away goals, despite having held a strong 4–1 advantage from the home leg of the tie. For their part, Paris Saint-Germain bowed out at the Round of 16 stage again, despite adding Neymar and others to their squad and winning their group, losing to the eventual winners, Barcelona's arch-rivals Real Madrid. In the 2018–19 UEFA Champions League Round of 16, Paris Saint- Germain – without the injured Neymar – were the losing team in another significant comeback, as an under-strength Manchester United side won 3–1 at the Parc des Princes (the decisive goal from a penalty in added time awarded by VAR) having lost 2–0 at Old Trafford, the first time in the history of the competition that such a deficit from a home first leg had been overcome. In the semi-finals, Barcelona were eliminated after another second-leg collapse: holding a 3–0 advantage from the Camp Nou, at Anfield they conceded four goals without reply to Liverpool who went on to win the competition (beating Tottenham Hotspur who had themselves completed a dramatic comeback over Ajax to reach the final).
