In 1916, Lettow- Vorbeck had managed to successfully harass the British Central Railway to Uganda without being forced in an engagement, which he would certainly lose being hopelessly outnumbered. After leaving Dar es Salaam to the British, he withdrew to a position in the easily defended Uluguru Mountains. Lettow- Vorbeck was planning to make a stand there, allowing his supplies to move south before going there with the main force himself. General Jan Smuts, detached the 3rd Infantry Division, led by Coen Brits and the 1st Mounted Brigade, led by Nussey from the main South African force on the Central Railway and had planned that the mounted division would be available to flank the German forces while the 3rd Infantry division engaged the enemy, but he failed to take the rugged terrain into consideration.

The 18th- century German Jewish philosopher Moses Mendelssohn read the admonition of "Therefore, know and take it to heart that the Lord alone is God, in heaven above and on the earth below, and there is none else," along with that of "Hear, O Israel, the Eternal, our God, is a unique, eternal being!" to demonstrate that whenever it is a question of the eternal truths of reason, Scripture does not say "believe," but "understand" and "know," in order that we may know that the Eternal is the true God, and there is no other. Nowhere does Scripture say: "Believe, O Israel, and you will be blessed; do not doubt, O Israel, or this or that punishment will befall you." Thus Mendelssohn concluded that Scripture does not command faith, but accepts no other commands than those that come by way of conviction. Its propositions are presented to the understanding, submitted for consideration, without being forced upon our belief.

Days before the war against Hades, Kanon is cleansed of his evil by Athena who grants him her forgiveness for his numerous sins, and Kanon embraces his destiny as Gold Saint, not without being forced to tortuously prove the legitimacy of his conversion by Scorpio Milo. Choosing to bear the stigma of being responsible for the deaths of millions for the rest of his life, Kanon parts to the front and displays true courage and fearsome strength by wreaking havoc in Hades' ranks, defeating numerous powerful Specters, fueled by unfailing devotion and gratitude to Athena.

At the Japanese surrender meetings in Rangoon on 11 September 1945, published in Major General Ichida read a statement which identified two unforeseen and vital factors which had put the Japanese at a "disastrous disadvantage": > (a) Allied air supply, which permitted ground forces in Burma to consolidate > their positions without being forced to retreat and thus rendered the > enemy's infiltration and encircling tactics abortive. > (b) Allied air superiority, which so disrupted Japanese supply lines, both > in Burma and further afield, that starvation and illness overtook thousands > of Japanese troops facing Fourteenth Army and also denied them the essential > supplies of fuel, equipment and material with which to fight a better > equipped and supplied, Allied Force. In the second week of March, the 161st Indian Infantry Brigade (part of the 5th Division) finally captured the "Tortoise" and the other fortifications around Razabil by a flanking manoeuvre, before the division was withdrawn into reserve. The 26th Indian and 36th British Divisions resumed the offensive in late March and early April.
