As chairman of the House Finance Committee during the administration of Governor John M. Parker from 1920 to 1924, Keith worked to maintain state finances on a sound footing and to treat all state agencies and commissions with fairness in regard to budgetary constraints. The Methodist Keith donated the land for construction of what is now the Keithville United Methodist Church at 11145 Old Mansfield Road. Construction was begun in 1904 by Tom Hudnall, and the first service was held on October 4 of that year.

In 1840, Youssef aged 17 years, fought alongside his father and elder brother against the Egyptian armies then occupying Lebanon in the battles of Houna and Bazoun. Youssef showed remarkable skill as a warrior and leader, and his reputation and influence in the area steadily grew; so much so that in 1846, when his father died, Youssef succeeded him as ruler instead of his elder brother. Youssef ruled with fairness, and his credibility and influence as a soldier and politician continued to grow. Youssef Karam became the acknowledged leader of the district, and in time one of the most powerful personalities in Lebanese Politics.

After a two-month search, Sessions was nominated to succeed William H. Webster as FBI Director by President Ronald Reagan and was sworn in on November 2, 1987. Sessions was viewed as combining tough direction with fairness and was respected even by the Reagan administration's critics, although he was sometimes ridiculed as straitlaced and dull and lacking hands-on leadership. He worked to raise the image of the FBI in Congress and fought to raise the pay of FBI agents, which had lagged behind other law enforcement agencies. Despite being a Republican who was appointed by Reagan, Sessions disappointed the administration of President George H. W. Bush for not being partisan, and he was personally disliked by Attorney General Dick Thornburgh.

An Advanced History of India is a book on Indian history written by R.C. Majumdar, H.C. Raychaudhuri and Kalikinkar Datta, first published in 1946. J. Coatman wrote in a review in the journal International Affairs that this book is "easily the most valuable history of India for the serious student." According to his review, the first part on Ancient India "epitomizes all that the most recent as well as older scholarship has to tell us about this fascinating period...", and the "Muslim and British parts of India's history are treated with fairness and dignity and attention is drawn to the fundamentals of history - the growth of institutions, social and economic developments, and so on. Kevin Rudd came to office pledging to overhaul WorkChoices, a key Howard Government policy commencing in March 2006 which had been attacked for reducing pay and conditions in the workplace, and which was crucial to Howard's defeat at the 2007 federal election. Upon Rudd's arrival as Leader of the Opposition in December 2006, he gave a speech emphasising this commitment. In April 2007, he announced Labor's "Forward with Fairness" plan to take to the election, which included a phased abolition of Australian Workplace Agreements (AWAs) over five years, a safety net consisting of 10 National Employment Standards, an independent umpire and simplified industrial awards. It also included the restoration of unfair dismissal laws for companies with under 100 employees (probation period of 12 months for companies with less than 15 employees), and the retention of the Australian Building and Construction Commission until 2010.

It was for many years the sole independent newspaper in Guyana, with Catholics and non-Catholics alike turning to it for objective news. Fr. Harold Wong, SJ, succeeded Fr. Terence Petry, SJ, as editor of the Catholic Standard in March 1967, at the young age of 37. His mission as editor, he said, was: > "to change the character and image of the paper to reflect a more militant > church's concern for the people [...] I was determined to ensure that while > I was editor, the Standard would not merely publish the usual religious news > items but also demonstrate an awareness of the public issues of the day by > analyzing and commenting with fairness and courage on those issues."
