Nick Whiffles is a fictional American frontier character which first appeared in a serial by John Hovey Robinson (1820-1867) published in Street & Smith's New York Weekly from June 5 to September 11, 1858. Monika Antonelli (born February 17, 1959) is a voice actress and librarian best known for voicing Puar and Chiaotzu in the Dragon Ball anime series, as well as earlier video games and other media for the franchise from 1999 to 2008. Before Dragon Ball, she was a librarian for the Denton Public Library in Denton, Texas and was the voice of the library's mascot, Whiffles the Bunny. Antonelli currently resides in Mankato, Minnesota.

In the 1990 John Waters film Cry-Baby, Beckley, Andrew Gold, and Timothy B. Schmit appeared as Baldwin and the Whiffles, performing "Mister Sandman", "The Naughty Lady of Shady Lane", and "Sh-Boom". Beckley has worked with a wide variety of musicians on many projects. In the mid-1970s, he collaborated with David Cassidy on Cassidy's critically acclaimed RCA albums, co-writing, dueting, and even co-producing. One of the most notable is the 2001 recording "Like a Brother", performed with Carl Wilson of The Beach Boys, and Robert Lamm of Chicago.

He appeared on Smalltime, and was joined in 1962 by Fred Barker (a shaggy dog made for Postgate/Firmin 1961 production The Dog Watch) and in 1963 by Whiffles, an otter puppet, and Penelope, another owl. With Ivan Owen, Firmin co-created the TV puppet Basil Brush in 1962. He made the first puppet for The Three Scampies, using a real fox brush, lending the correct name for a fox’s tail to the puppet character. For the UK's Decimal Day (15 February 1971), Muskit reappeared with Firmin and made a trip to the shops in a BBC TV schools' programme.

In May 2018, an advert showcased at the Licensing Expo showcased new redesigns of the Care Bears. Eventually, this was confirmed by the then-rebranded Cloudco Entertainment in September 2018 they would be making a new television series, titled Care Bears: Unlock the Magic. For the first time in a Care Bears series, the setting is set outside of Care- a-Lot, in a mysterious world known as the Silver Lining, populated by creatures known as the Whiffles. The main 5 Bears for this incarnation were Grumpy, Cheer, Share, Funshine and Good Luck, with the series also featuring a main Whiffle character known as Dibble, serving as "the team's newest pet and companion".
