There the heretic priest, Claus set up a profane altar, namely a table lifted far above the ground where he occasionally celebrated his communion. It was in the end destroyed, and the profane altar which still stands there today was set up, but the pictures and the altar pictures were thrown out, cut to pieces, destroyed and burned and then the parish priest was given a compensation amount and was installed as pastor for the whole town's religious life. Now we follow the plan further whereby he drove the brethren out of the friary.

In the coming few weeks Clan's form went up and down so a number of changes were made at playing level. The club introduced new captain Ville Hämäläinen, Brooks became an assistant captain alongside Craig Peacock and Ryan Potulny. Clan's form, however, maintained its stop-start nature and numerous defeats to the hands of rivals Fife Flyers saw the club at the wrong end of the league table and chasing Fife in the Gardiner Conference. In February the team's form did eventually hit its stride and a run of impressive wins saw a late comeback, but the damage was already done and defeats in the final weekend by Nottingham Panthers and Guildford Flames consolidated Clan to its worst ever season, missing out on the Gardiner Conference to bitter rivals Fife Flyers and ending the regular season in 9th place, its lowest ever Elite League finish, and missing out on the EIHL playoffs for the first time in club history.

For Snorri Sturluson, Óðrerir is the name of the kettle in which Kvasir's blood was mixed with honey to create the mead: :[Kvasir] went up and down the earth to give instruction to men; and when he came upon invitation to the abode of certain dwarves, Fjalar and Galarr, they called him into privy converse with them, and killed him, letting his blood run into two vats and a kettle. The kettle is named Ódrerir, and the vats Són and Bodn; they blended honey with the blood, and the outcome was that mead by the virtue of which he who drinks becomes a skald or scholar. : ::—Skáldskaparmál (V), Brodeur's translation Similarly, Snorri considers that "liquid of Óðrerir and Boðn and Són" (lögr Óðreris ok Boðnar ok Sónar) is a kenning for the mead of poetry (Skáldskaparmál, 3). But in skaldic poetry, Óðrerir is a synonym of mead of poetry and it is therefore assumed that Óðrerir as a vessel is Snorri's invention.

The following day, the Earl of Essex Robert Devereaux and his army forded the river at Sandford-on-Thames, halting on Bullingdon Green in full view of the city. Whilst the main army marched on to Islip to make quarters there, the Earl of Essex and a small party of horse came within cannon shot to make a closer inspection of the place. For a large part of 29 May, various parties of Parliamentarian horse troop went up and down Headington Hill and had a few skirmishes near the ports, although little damage was made on either side--the work at St Clement's Port made three or four great shot at them, driving them back to the main body of troops. The King, being at that time on the top of Magdalen Tower, had a clear view of the troops' manoeuvres. On 30 May and 31 May the Parliamentarians made unsuccessful attempts to cross the River Cherwell at Gosford Bridge, and Earl of Cleveland Thomas Wentworth made a demonstration with 150 horse troops towards Abingdon, where Waller had 1,000 foot and 400 horse troops.
