In turn, it was a kind of prequel to We zijn weer thuis, which ran from 1989 to 1994. Story and script were written by Schippers, who directed the show with his longtime associate Ellen Jens.

De Fred Haché Show is a 1971 Dutch television show written and directed for the VPRO by Wim T. Schippers, Ruud van Hemert, Wim van der Linden, and Gied Jaspars. The show marked the return to television for Schippers, van der Linden, and Jaspars, who had been on the team that was responsible for the controversial 1967 show Hoepla, canceled after three episodes. Like its "sister show" Barend is weer bezig (1972-1973) and Van Oekel's Discohoek, it was an absurdist show with much nudity, linguistic humor, satirical skits, and illogical plot lines.

The Romani flag or flag of the Roma () is the international flag of the Romani people. It was approved by the representatives of various Romani communities at the first World Romani Congress (WRC), held in Orpington in 1971. The flag consists of a background of blue and green, representing the heavens and earth, respectively; it also contains a 16-spoke red chakra, or cartwheel, in the center. The latter element stands for the itinerant tradition of the Romani people and is also an homage to the flag of India, added to the flag by scholar Weer Rajendra Rishi.

Football Club Volendam () is a professional football club based in Volendam, Netherlands, that competes in the Eerste Divisie, the second tier of Dutch football. Nicknamed "de Palingboeren", the club was founded as Victoria in 1920, changed its name to RKSV Volendam in 1923 and emerged as an exclusively professional club, FC Volendam, in 1977, following a split from its parent club. Weer De Leeuw is probably best known internationally for its notorious appearance in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest, where De Leeuw gave the results of the Dutch televote from the programme's studio (the show was usually broadcast during the time period occupied by Eurovision). In 1921, the North Tyrolean Horse Breeders' Cooperative was formed in Zams, and in 1922, the first Haflinger Breeders' Show was held in the same location. Many extant Austrian Haflinger mares were considered to be of too low quality to be used as brood mares, and every effort was made to import higher-quality brood mares from the South Tyrol herds now in Italy. In 1926, the first studbook was established in North Tyrol. In the late 1920s, other cooperatives were established for Haflinger breeders in Weer and Wildschönau, and were able to gain government permission to purchase 100 Haflinger mares from South Tyrol and split them between North Tyrol, Upper Austria and Styria.

After a few small Dutch TV roles, Ten Damme made her film debut starring in the 1991 short film The Tears of Maria Machita by director Paul Ruven, and was nominated for a Golden Calf movie award. Since then Ten Damme has consistently worked in TV and film – mostly in Dutch and German, and mostly in supporting roles and guest parts. Examples are recurring parts in Dutch comedy series We zijn weer thuis (1993) and Jiskefet (1995–1997), and appearing in 25 episodes of lawyer drama Pleidooi (1993–1995). Further movie parts included The Little Blonde Death (1993), No Trains No Planes (1999), Full Moon Party (2002) and Interview (2003), directed by Theo van Gogh.

Schippers made three television plays for the VPRO, ' (1976), Sans rancune (1987), and De bruine jurk (1988). In 1986 he drew international attention as theater director with Going to the Dogs, a 46-minute play that premiered in the Stadsschouwburg in Amsterdam and featured six Alsatian dogs reading newspapers, watching TV, barking at the screen when they saw another dog on it, and occasionally relieving themselves. The drama on stage continued the absurdity of his television work, but the real play, according to Schippers, was the audience watching dogs on a stage. Since Going to the Dogs he has periodically returned to the stage, with Wuivend graan (2007) (nominated for the Toneel Publieksprijs, an audience award), Wat nu weer (2009), and most recently Het laatste nippertje (2011).

Blokker was born in Den Helder and studied drums at the Amsterdamse Muziekschool, and worked in a number of orchestras in the Netherlands and Germany, including the Snip en Snap Revue. He was drum teacher as well; one of his students was Jan Keizer, who gained fame with BZN. Blokker became widely known in the 1970s playing the character of Barend Servet in a series of television shows: De Fred Hachéshow (1971), Barend is weer bezig (1972-1973), and Van Oekel's Discohoek (1974). These shows, conceived, written, and directed by Wim van der Linden, Wim T. Schippers, Gied Jaspars, and Ruud van Hemert and aired on VPRO, caused consternation by having naked dancers and extras, cursing actors, and absurdist humor.

Nyte was invited to the internationally acclaimed radio show Border Crossings, where he performed select songs from The Valley live on air to more than 300 million listeners. Following the US success of The Valley, in 2012 Nyte announced that he was planning to release his next album written entirely in Afrikaans, entitled Moederland which he referred to as "an album that pays homage to my Afrikaans heritage and the country that has shaped me." The album's lead single entitled Kan Ons Weer Begin went to #1 on major Afrikaans stations throughout South Africa and remained in the top ten for several weeks. Dutch football club FC Volendam are known as the Heen-en-weer club (The to-and-fro club): they won promotion from the Eerste Divisie to the Eredivisie in 1959, were relegated in 1960, were promoted in 1961, were relegated in 1964, were promoted in 1967, were relegated in 1969, were promoted in 1970, were relegated in 1972, were promoted in 1977, were relegated in 1979, were promoted in 1983, were relegated in 1985, were promoted in 1987, were relegated in 1998, were promoted in 2003 and were relegated in 2004. In 2008 FC Volendam promoted once again, only to finish last and be therefore relegated the following year. For the 2009–10 season, the club is playing in the Eerste Divisie.

In the Netherlands, Teeuwen became well known in 1991 when he won an award at the Dutch cabaret festival Cameretten for his show Heist, together with his friend Roland Smeenk. Just before the ending of the try-outs of this show, Smeenk died in a car accident in 1992. Teeuwen decided to go solo as a cabaretier. (Dutch cabaret is a sort of stand-up comedy often lasting for an hour or two, which has a storyline or theme, and can include songs, music and poetry as opposed to purely stand-up comedy.) Initially he did five shows, Hard en Zielig (Hard and Soulful, 1994–1995), Met een Breierdeck (With a Knitter's Deck, 1995–1997), Trui (Sweater, 1999–2000), Dat Dan Weer Wel (2001–2002,So There's That) and Industry of Love (2003–2004).

This left Banali as the second member of the classic Metal Health-era Quiet Riot lineup to have died, following Kevin DuBrow in November 2007. It was announced three weeks after his death that Quiet Riot would continue without Banali, who was replaced by Johnny Kelly. On September 4, 2020, as a result of a fan-led petition, MTV Classic on their Metal Mayem show which airs every Friday evening from 9 PM to 1 AM EST, aired a rock block of Quiet Riot videos to honor Frankie. The Sad Movies were released as a bonus on the DVD edition of De Fred Haché Show. Van der Linden worked as a camera man as well, for instance on the first full-length movie by Wim Verstappen, De minder gelukkige terugkeer van Joszef Kàtus naar het land van Rembrandt (1966). As a television maker, he is best known as the colleague of Schippers, Gied Jaspars, and Ruud van Hemert, the team that made groundbreaking and controversial shows such as Hoepla (1967), the first show in which a naked woman (model Phil Bloom) appeared, and absurdist comedy shows such as De Fred Haché Show (1971) and Barend is weer bezig. He made a few shows for German television, then moved to Los Angeles where he invented the ScriptBoy, an electronic clapperboard.

British glam rock band Slade (pictured in 1973) was among the band's influences Kiss was strongly influenced by Alice Cooper and the New York Dolls, while Gene Simmons has stated that the band's "musical heart and soul lies in England". the Beatles and the Yardbird's trio of rock guitarists Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck were among the British acts he praised, with Simmons stating, "I've ripped off so many English riffs, if the British influence wasn't there, we wouldn't be here. 'Rock and Roll All Nite' is a direct bastard child of Slade's 'Mama Weer All Crazee Now'". In his book, Kiss and Make-Up, Simmons wrote of the glam rock group Slade, "... we liked the way they connected with the crowd and the way they wrote anthems ... we wanted that same energy, that same irresistible simplicity".

The show's plot was intentionally unclear, though one plot line involved the head of a "school with the bible", Rein Schaambergen, whose marriage is threatened when he meets singer Ingrid Gortebroek in the bar "The Old Dick" and decides to produce a record for her. De lachende scheerkwast turned out to be a play written by writer Jacques Plafond (played by Schippers), and the show itself was a chaotic affair ("anarchist...always derailing") with more emphasis on absurdist, comical scenes and linguistic jokery than on story development. It was a prequel of sorts to Schippers' later radio show Ronflonflon (1984-1991) and his television shows Opzoek naar Yolanda (1984), Plafond over de vloer (1986), and We zijn weer thuis (1989-1994). The cast likewise returned in many Schippers productions, and included jazz musician Clous van Mechelen (as Jan Vos).

The show provoked national controversy with a skit in which Barend Servet interviewed Juliana of the Netherlands (played by "Ria", one "RiMiCo ladies"); the queen drank sherry, and cleaned Brussels sprouts in order to pretend to feel close to the Dutch people, before throwing them in the trash or donating them to a children's home. The show rose quite a few questions in Dutch parliament about the depiction of Her Majesty the Queen. VPRO was reprimanded by the minister of culture, narrowly escaping having its broadcasting hours cut. While there were plenty of negative reviews, one notable supporter of De Fred Haché Show and Barend is weer bezig was Frans Haks, an art historian and critic who in 1978 became the director of the Groninger Museum (where he became known and controversial for his appreciation of avant-garde art).

Art Amsterdam was begun as a rival event in 1994 by galleries with a more radical and internationalist focus, originally in the former stock exchange building. Theunisse turned professional in 1984 with the Panasonic cycling team. That year he came third in the Ronde van Nederland and had places of honour in races such as the Grand Prix de Fourmies and the Grand Prix d'Isbergues in 1986. However it was not until 1988 that he achieved great success. In the 1988 Tour de France he challenged his former teammate, Pedro Delgado. However he tested positive for testosterone and received a 10-minute penalty which moved him from fourth to 11th overall. Theunisse returned the following year and won the mountains classification and the stage up Alpe d'Huez in the 1989 Tour de France . The show was built around two main characters, Fred Haché (Harry Touw) and his assistant Barend Servet (IJf Blokker), with cameos by Kees van Kooten, Wim de Bie, poet Simon Vinkenoog, and Dolf Brouwers, who would return as the regular Sjef van Oekel character in Barend is weer bezig and Van Oekel's Discohoek. Schippers tendency to treat serious matters in irreverent fashion is exemplified in the interview with God, which Jan Blokker, then director of VPRO television, had cut from the show: apparently the show had at some point been unable to get more guests, and Schippers thought God would make a good guest for an interview with Fred Haché, who asked him if He didn't think it unreasonable that people who lived their life carelessly "could get into heaven by converting just before death comma God?" ("Comma" was one of Haché's catchwords.) God promised to consider it. The fragment is lost, though the audio was saved.
