The Vendetta Vixens (VV) is a roller derby league based in Northampton, England. Founded in 2011, the team skates Flat Track Roller Derby. Venter began her netball career playing for the Gauteng Jaguars in the South African Brutal Fruit Netball Cup. She was quickly selected for the South African senior national team, having previously represented the under-19 national team as early as 2014. Venter was spotted by Melbourne Vixens head coach Simone McKinnis whilst representing South Africa at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and later that year she was signed by the Vixens for the 2019 season. Venter made three appearances for the Vixens before being signed to the Queensland Firebirds ahead of the 2020 season.

Simone McKinnis is a former Australia netball international and the current head coach of Melbourne Vixens in Suncorp Super Netball. As a player she was a member of the Australia teams that won gold medals at the 1991 and 1995 World Netball Championships, the 1993 World Games and the 1998 Commonwealth Games. She also captained the Melbourne Phoenix team that won the 1997 Commonwealth Bank Trophy. She was head coach when Vixens won the 2014 ANZ Championship title.

Bianca Lee Chatfield (born 2 April 1982) is a former Australian netball player. She played in the positions of GK, and GD. In 2001, she was selected for the Australian team as an 18-year-old, one of the youngest ever netballers to play for her country. Tayla Honey (born 20 August 1997) is an Australian netball player in the Suncorp Super Netball league, playing for the Melbourne Vixens. Born in Geelong and raised in Echuca in regional Victoria, Nevins made her elite-level netball debut in the ANZ Championship in 2014 for the Melbourne Vixens. Her debut at the Vixens coincided with a premiership that season and the vice-captaincy of the Victorian Fury in the Australian Netball League. Scott was born in Newcastle in 1946. He joined the Royal Navy in 1964 and after training, flew Sea Vixens. This was followed by tour with the US Navy, including the Top Gun course at the Fighter Weapons School at NAS Miramar. Consequently he was posted to HMS Ark Royal in 1974 as an Air Weapons Instructor, flying F-4K Phantoms.

Tregear is a versatile netballer capable of covering WA, C and GA. After co-captaining the Melbourne Kestrels in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy. She missed selection for the inaugural season of the ANZ Championship in 2008. She captained Victorian Fury to success in the Australian Netball League in 2008. It was this form that earned her, as Chelsey Nash, a callup to the Melbourne Vixens squad.

Micaela Wilson (born 3 November 1992 in Melbourne, Australia) is an Australian netball player. In her career, Wilson has played for the New South Wales Swifts and Melbourne Vixens. Most recently she played for the Collingwood Magpies in 2017 before being cut from the team at the end of the season. She predominantly plays goal keeper or goal defence, but has also played wing defence in her career.

The GB Swans were established in January 2016 by two England Vixens players, Charlotte-Ellen Eales and Lisa Wilson. The team was created with its sights set on entering the International Cup in Melbourne in 2017. Vibe Vixen was a magazine geared towards female readers of Vibe magazine that covered beauty, dating, entertainment, fashion, and societal issues for "urban minded females". Margaret Court Arena Formerly known as Show Court 1, Margaret Court Arena was opened in 1988 along with the Melbourne Park precinct. Originally seating 6,000 spectators, the arena underwent a renovation which increased the capacity to 7,500 and added a retractable roof – the fastest of its kind in the world, opening or closing in just five minutes. The redevelopment was completed prior to the 2015 Australian Open. The arena is also used for regular music concerts and is one of the two home courts of Super Netball team the Melbourne Vixens.

As a result of an increase in COVID-19 positive tests in Victoria, the league initially announced the temporary relocation of the two Victorian teams (Magpies and Vixens) to Queensland. The 2014 ANZ Championship season was the seventh season of the ANZ Championship netball competition in Australasia. The 2014 season commenced on 1 March 2014 with the Canterbury Tactix hosting the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic. Overall, the 2014 season comprised 69 matches played over 17 weeks, including an initial 14-week round-robin stage, followed by a three-week finals stage. The competition concluded with the grand final on 22 June 2014 with the Melbourne Vixens winning their second ANZ Championship trophy by defeating the Queensland Firebirds.

In 2018 Guiseley got off to the worst start imaginable at the half way stage of the season they had not won one game, they were sitting bottom of the Premier League 11 points from safety. In 2006 and 2007 club members made up two-thirds of the County team that finished in silver and bronze places respectively in the National Open Water Championships. Stroud Hockey Club was founded in 1928 and has produced some top-class hockey players including Simon Mason. The club has three men's teams, three women's teams and a boys Badgers and a girls Vixens team, and under 8s, 10s and 12s for rising club stars. The club's home ground is at Stratford Park Leisure Centre, with training on Tuesday evenings during the season.

In the Men's Division Ireland finished as runners-up for the third year in a row, and to a third different opponent as Denmark won their third Euro Cup title and first since 2015. Meanwhile, in the Women's Division, a strong Irish side continued the duopoly of titles between them and England, defeating the England Vixens in the final 5.3 (33) to 1.3 (8).

By the fall of 2004 the team was practicing at a local community center, on a basketball court. Since its formation, the group consists of more than 80 players and four at-home teams: The Black Eye Susans, the Dreadnought Dorothys, the Knockouts and the Victory Vixens. KCRW originally held their bouts at the Winnwood Skate Center and Hale Arena in Kansas City before moving to the Kansas City Municipal Auditorium, where they skated through 2015. 2011 saw a strengthened line-up, with the addition of unwanted Melbourne Vixens shooter Caitlin Thwaites, at the expense of Paula Griffin. Cox captained the New South Wales Swifts in the inaugural ANZ Championship season in 2008 and was awarded player of the match in the grand final win against Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic. In June 2010, Cox played her 200th domestic match against the Melbourne Vixens, the second Australian to reach that milestone after Sharelle McMahon. In August 2011, Cox lost the captaincy of the New South Wales Swifts and left to join West Coast Fever. Cox was the captain for the West Coast Fever and is currently the only player to be captain for two different teams since the inaugural season.

In 2014 Chatfield captained the Melbourne Vixens to claim their second ANZ Title with a victory over the Queensland Firebirds. Later that year she was named vice-captain of the Australian Team to compete at the 2014 Commonwealth Games who went on to win gold in the final against New Zealand. After the Australian Netball Diamonds won gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games Chatfield announced that she was officially retiring from international netball but would stay on to play in the ANZ Championship. Ashlee Howard (born 2 March 1988) is an Australian netball player in the ANZ Championship, playing for the Melbourne Vixens. Howard came to prominence on the national netball scene in 2007 playing for the Melbourne Kestrels in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy, the preceding competition to the ANZ Championship. Howard was selected for Kestrels as a rookie after being a standout player for Victoria at U17, U19 & U21 level. Howard's performances for Kestrels in her debut season were rewarded when she won the Commonwealth Bank Trophy Best New Talent Award at the Netball Australia Awards Dinner for 2007.

The Memorial Hall is the location of most meetings, sports events and other gatherings among locals. Over the last few years, it has undergone an extension which saw the installation of a state-of-the-art sports complex. The cost of the renovation neared €1 million and despite charity donations, government grants and other fundraising efforts, the community hall committee is still faced with a large debt which has been decreasing each year due to fund raising activities carried out by the committee. Today, the Hall is home to the local basketball team, the Athea Vixens and Athea GAA frequently use its indoor sports facilities.

Browne began her professional netball career as a replacement player for the Melbourne Vixens in the 2015 ANZ Championship season. She played for the Victorian-based club for two seasons before having a breakout year in 2017 at the Sunshine Coast Lightning in the new Super Netball league, where she developed a reputation as one of the most ruthless wing-attack players in the competition. Browne has represented Australia at under 17, 19 and 21 levels. Browne took her game to another level in the 2018 season and was rewarded with a call-up to the Australia national netball team for the end of year Quad Series and Constellation Cup.

Vixen history dates back to 1999, when businessmen Carter Turner and Terry Sullivan decided to explore the feasibility of a professional women's football league by gathering together top female athletes from across the United States and dividing them into two teams for a nationwide series of exhibition game. More than 100 women attended tryouts. The teams were named the Minnesota Vixens and the Lake Michigan Minx, and the "No Limits" Barnstorming Tour featured six games in such locations as Miami, Chicago, and New York. The final exhibition game was played at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis (known worldwide as home to the National Football League's Minnesota Vikings).

After finishing second (out of eight teams) on the ladder, the Lightning defeated the Melbourne Vixens by one goal in the major semi-final to progress directly to the Grand Final, where they comfortably defeated Giants Netball at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre and became one of the few expansion teams to record a Premiership in their debut season in Australian sport. The following season the Lightning narrowly qualified for finals, though defeated the Firebirds and Giants to qualify for the second consecutive Grand Final, this time against West Coast Fever in Perth.

Rideau Valley gained full membership in the WFTDA in June 2012, and are represented in WFTDA competition by their charter all-star team, the Rideau Valley Vixens. 2012 was the final year that the WFTDA used geographical regions for organizing rankings, and initially Rideau Valley was placed in the East Region. In August 2014, Rideau Valley became the first team from outside the United States to take first place at a WFTDA Playoff tournament, when they defeated Bear City Roller Derby of Berlin at the Division 2 Playoff in Kitchener-Waterloo. Rideau Valley then played for the Division 2 Championship in Nashville, Tennessee on November 2, 2014, losing to the Detroit Derby Girls.

Kate Eddy (born 28 December 1996) is an Australian netball player in the Suncorp Super Netball league, playing for the New South Wales Swifts. Eddy was raised in Victoria, representing the state netball team at several underage levels before going on to play for the Victorian Fury in the Australian Netball League. In 2017 she was made a training partner at the Melbourne Vixens, though moved to Sydney to play for the Swifts in the Super Netball league during the 2018 season. She made her debut for the Swifts in round 1 of the season and played all 14 matches that year and was re-signed by the club ahead of the 2019 season.

Fountain is also a novelist, and has written three humorous detective books and one serious thriller. The detective books, collectively titled 'The Mervyn Stone Mysteries' were published by Big Finish in 2010 and recount the exploits of an ex-script editor of science fiction television series called 'Vixens from the Void'. Mervyn Stone encounters murders wherever he goes, whether it be a sci-fi convention (Geek Tragedy), the recording of a DVD commentary (DVD Extras Include: Murder) or the revival of the aforesaid television series (Cursed Among Sequels). The serious thriller is called 'Painkiller', published by Sphere, and recounts the story of Monica Wood, a woman suffering from chronic neuropathic pain who discovers her own suicide note in a drawer - but she cannot remember writing it.

Illustrator Benjamin Roman made his professional debut with the first volume of I Luv Halloween; he wanted to create "something that was offbeat and a little gory, but with a kind of humor and playfulness." Having spent years trying to get into the comic book industry, he moved to Los Angeles, California, in 2003, and worked at Kinko's in Hollywood; there, he met a Tokyopop employee, who passed along some of his "rejected proposals" to now-former editor Mark Paniccia. Keith Giffen, an American comic book illustrator and writer who had previously adapted the Tokyopop-licensed manga Battle Royale and Battle Vixens for an English-language audience, joined the project as the writer. Together, they spent three to four years working on the series.

Mentor was dropped by England for the next 18 months due to England Netball's new policy of limiting selection to domestic-based players. The policy, an attempt to improve the standard of domestic netball, stated England Netball were not prepared to accommodate athletes plying their trade in overseas leagues and consequently disqualified Mentor from playing for England. She was considered ineligible for the England national team for that entire year, including the 2011 Netball World Championships in Singapore, although this ineligibility was later overturned via a compromise agreement between the players and the management team allowing Mentor to play for England in the World Championships. In 2014 Mentor played her fourth season with Melbourne Vixens as their number 1 Goal Keeper.

Many scholars trace the sexualization of Black women back to slavery, where certain stereotypes were invented as a way to dehumanize Black women. These stereotypes include the Jezebel who was seen as a light skin overly sexual Black woman with no control over her desires; the Mammy a dark-skinned fat Black woman who was asexual in nature and whose sole purpose was to cook for a white family; the Sapphire first shown on the Radio/Television show Amos n’ Andy, she was a loud, crude, jealous woman, who took joy in emasculating men. These stereotypes have carried over to the way black girls view themselves and how society views them. The Jezebel stereotype, in particular, has reemerged in the form of rap video vixens.

The Harrison Hoist is a netball manoeuvre in which one defender lifts another during a jump, in order to get more elevation, in an attempt to deflect a shot or as a form of goaltending. It was named after Northern Mystics defender Anna Harrison, who pulled off the move for the first time on 20 May 2012, during the Mystics' round 8 ANZ Championship match against the Melbourne Vixens in Melbourne. She was lifted first by Kayla Cullen, then by young defender Jessica Moulds. The move was first seen in the 1970s with Chris Stanton the first recognised performer, and more recently at the 2011 Netball World Championships, when it was used by the Singapore defenders in an attempt to intercept the ball, albeit unsuccessfully.

Angels' Wild Women (1972) centers around a group of tough female bikers who dominate men and eventually go a revenge-driven rampage.

The Military Aviation Service of Chile placed an initial order for twelve Vixen Vs in May 1925, this being increased to 18 in July. While prone to engine problems owing to the problems with the special fuel ( petrol to benzol) required for the high-compression Lion V engine, and requiring frequent re- rigging owing to the use of wooden wings in the high temperature of Northern Chile, the Vixen Vs, operated by the Grupo Mixto de Aviación N° 3. were popular in Chilean service, being used for long-distance flights of several hundred miles and continued in service for several years. Vixens participated in bombing raids against mutinying ships of the Chilean Navy (including the Battleship ) during the Sailors' mutiny of September 1931.

Later in the season, the Hustlin' Rollers were victorious at Honky Tonk Stomp and were again Tennessee State Champions. After a measurable dip in proficiency in the past 2 years, The Hustlin' Rollers were out of the gate strong in 2013 with an early win against Magnolia Roller Vixens but had a lackluster mid-season drop after losing to Gold Coast Derby Grrls, Duke City Roller Derby, and Dallas Derby Devils in the annual Clover Cup tournament. Memphis went on to defeat Springfield Roller Girls later in the season and secured a repeat tournament win at the annual Honky Tonk Stomp. Keeping momentum, a late season re-match with Dallas resulted in a nail-biting loss for Memphis by only 2 points.

The New Zealand successor to the previous ANZ Championship is the ANZ Premiership. The new league consists of the five former Australian ANZ Championship teams; the Adelaide Thunderbirds, Melbourne Vixens, New South Wales Swifts, Queensland Firebirds and West Coast Fever, in addition to three new teams, the Collingwood Magpies, Giants Netball and Sunshine Coast Lightning. Giants Netball are owned by Netball New South Wales and in a strategic partnership with the GWS Giants, and the two other new teams are owned and operated by two clubs in the popular Australian Football League and National Rugby League football codes. Expansion teams Sunshine Coast Lightning and Giants Netball met in the Grand Final in the competition's inaugural season, the Lightning winning the match 65–48 before a crowd of 8,999 at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

American Siren was launched by Invision Filmworks in January 2011 as a recruiting tool for new faces in the entertainment industry, keeping inline with the principles of presenting more positive images of minorities and urban life. The pageant was created as a solution to the exploitation and controversy of hip hop models and so called video vixens; providing positive representations of the morals and values of minority and urban women instead of the more common negative, degrading, subservient, or misogynistic images popularly portrayed. The pageant's intention is to showcase the "urban woman" in a new light by combining the world of entertainment with the world of business thus giving young women not just positive new role models but educating them of the many career options available despite the preconceived prejudices toward beauty.

UK Prime Minister Harold Wilson and his cabinet held a mini cabinet meeting at the Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose and decided to set fire to the vessel and surrounding oil slick to limit the extent of the oil disaster. On 28 March 1967, the Fleet Air Arm sent Blackburn Buccaneer planes from RNAS Lossiemouth to drop forty-two 1,000-lb bombs on the ship. Then, the Royal Air Force sent Hawker Hunter jets from RAF Chivenor to drop cans of aviation fuel to make the oil blaze. However, exceptionally high tides put the fire out and it took further bombing runs by Sea Vixens from the RNAS Yeovilton and Buccaneers from the Royal Navy Air Station Brawdy, as well as more RAF Hunters with liquified petroleum jelly to ignite the oil.

See the 2009 Transfer Season The 2008 Off season, saw franchises working hard to sign up the best talent in the ANZ competition, while trying to remain under the Salary Cap. Several teams including the Southern Steel, Waikato/BOP Magic and the Queensland Firebirds looked like teams that improved their rosters the most, joining the NSW Swifts, Adelaide Thunderbirds and the Melbourne Vixens with potential to win the second edition of the competition. The Steel went out to sign all the old guns, picking up its former Southern Sting star duo of former Silver Ferns Adine Wilson and Donna Wilkins, while also inking international defender Sheryl Scanlan. The Waikato/BOP Magic added to its already five current internationals players by putting star backline player Leana de Bruin in the mix also.

It was later confirmed in October that the name of the team would be the 'Northern Stars', based in the South Auckland area. Their training base is located at the new High Wire Trust gymnasium in Papakura, and home stadium at the Vodafone Events Centre in Manukau. Former England and Fiji coach Julie Hoornweg was named as the head coach of the team in August 2016, who has also had experience in the ANZ Championship as the coach of the Melbourne Vixens from the establishment of the competition in 2008 until her resignation in 2012. She is joined by former Silver Ferns and Northern Mystics midcourter Temepara Bailey as assistant coach, who was part of the Silver Ferns 2003 World Netball Championships winning squad and Netball at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medallist.

Originally known as "Rideau Valley Roller Girls", in April 2017, the league announced it was rebranding as Rideau Valley Roller Derby in an effort to put the emphasis more on the sport and to better respect its members. At the end of 2017, Rideau Valley featured the Vixens A-team and Sirens B-team, and three home teams, the Slaughter Daughters, Riot Squad and Prime Sinisters. In January 2018 Rideau Valley and another Ottawa league, Capital City Derby Dolls, announced a merger and rebrand on Facebook as Ottawa Valley Roller Derby.

A centre for Air Direction Radar was also established at Speckington Manor on the edge of the airfield. After the end of the war, Yeovilton became one of the main demobilization centres for the Royal Navy, with many of the men helping to refurbish the runways while they stayed at the base. In 1952, Yeovilton became the shore base for the fleets all-weather fighters. The runways were further extended by Taylor Woodrow in 1952 and 1957 to cope with jet aircraft. In May 1953, it became the headquarters of Flag Officer Flying Training. BAe Sea Harrier FRS1 of 899 Naval Air Squadron at Yeovilton Naval Air Station in 1982. During the 1960s, further development work was undertaken, with the School of Fighter Direction returning to the site and the Sea Venoms being replaced by the de Havilland Sea Vixens then in turn by the McDonnell-Douglas Phantom FG1 as a carrier-borne fighter.

In the 1960s, the Royal Navy was still one of the premier carrier fleets in the world, second only to the US Navy, which was in the process of building the 80,000-ton s. The British fleet included the fleet carriers and , and two smaller carriers, the completely reconstructed , and the somewhat newer light carrier , both with 3D Type 984 radar and C3, but limited to air groups of 25 aircraft: at the most 20 fighters and strike aircraft and five helicopters, or alternately 16 fighters and strike aircraft, four turboprop Fairey Gannet AEW, and five helicopters. A fifth carrier, , was modernised to the minimum standard to operate second-generation Scimitars and Vixens in 1959, but was never satisfactory or safe for operating nuclear strike aircraft and was a purely interim capability while Eagle was refitting. While all four of the Navy's large carriers were capable of operating the S.2 version of the Blackburn Buccaneer strike aircraft, only Ark Royal and Eagle were realistically big enough to accommodate both a squadron of Buccaneers (up to 14 aircraft) and a squadron of F-4 Phantoms, which the Royal Navy intended to procure as its new fleet air defence aircraft.
