The current drawings show a core neighbourhood park at the centre of the neighbourhood adjacent to the school and mixed-use "village square" sites. Linear parks link to two neighbourhood parks closer to the east and west peripheries, and two small "pocket" parks in the northeast part of the neighbourhood.

The Illinois Freedom Bell is rung during the annual Let Freedom Ring festival, and it can be found beneath a gazebo on the village square. The bell has been credited with starting an Independence Day bell- ringing tradition across the United States. The bell was designated the official Illinois Freedom Bell in 1971.
In 2007, veterans of the Clamshell Alliance marked the 30th anniversary of its founding with the creation of a website called, "To the Village Square: Nukes, Clams and Democracy", which relates the story of the Clamshell Alliance and why it matters today. In addition, a book and a travelling exhibit are planned.
The village has a fairly large square where the city buses make the return journey. There is one primary school, and the steps to the Jwalamuki temple start from the square. The village is populated by farmers. The village square has one grocery, one bakery, one teashop and ten other small shops.
The Osho Meditation Center in Uthanahalli is about six km from Mysore. The ashram is situated in the middle of a large expanse of paddy fields. The center is about one km from the village square. The Osho center conducts three day yoga camps and there is a lot of cottages for visitors.
A pathway links the village to the relatively new development of Eden in Blackrock, which is a mix of apartments, duplexes and houses along with green spaces built on the former grounds of Blackrock convent. The village square and surrounding area were subject to a €2 million "rejuvenation" scheme between 2015 and 2017.
Ekwe is small in size and portable while Ikoro is enormous in size, cannot be carried by one person and is never carried from place to place. Ikoro is kept in a fixed place usually at the village square. Ekwe is an ordinary musical instrument and is used to play many types of traditional music.
Another group was sentenced to a single year of imprisonment. One teenager, then aged fourteen years of age, was sentenced to six years in a reformatory, while a small child was acquitted. 210 people of Digne died for France during World War I. The hospital took care of the soldiers injured in the fighting, including nearly seventy who died of their injuries, and are buried in the military cemetery of the village square. Nobel Drive is a future San Diego Trolley station located adjacent to the La Jolla Village Square shopping center in the La Jolla Village district of San Diego, California. It is expected to begin service in 2021 as a new station on the Blue Line and is being constructed as part of the Mid-Coast Trolley extension project.
It had by then access to the newly built railway line which connects Hannover with Kassel, about 3 km away. Its beam can be seen up to 50 kilometres away. The village square of Saasen was established on the eastern bank of the Wieseck on a ridge of land backed by a steep hill. It is at this point and the spring of Wieseck. The site is located east of the main town in the valley on the Busecker tal and at the Wieseck in central Hesse.
The most notable was Heikant, which is still the name of the biggest neighbourhood. Its former village square including the old church is still present. The northernmost part of the district is still agricultural with some forests. In this agricultural area, the blessed Peter Donders was born; there still stands a chapel and a procession park.

With the exception of the village square at Albany, Broad, Chatham and Hudson streets, these areas are residential. Agia Anna ( meaning Saint Anne) is a mountain village in the municipal unit of Oleni, Elis, Greece. In 2011 its population was 168. Agia Anna is built on the slopes of the hill Axofolia, a western spur of the Foloi plateau. In the village square, the elevation is 450 m, and the top of the hill is around 670 m.
The last hotel to be built on the site was constructed by entrepreneur Paul Terry in 1991. Paul Terry was killed in a freak helicopter crash in Hawaii in 1993 and the hotel passed out of the family's management, and was eventually sold. The building was demolished in 2007 to build the new hotel, village square, health and recreation facilities, and function centres.
Kattavia is a part of the Municipality of Southern Rhodes which is one of 10 municipalities on Rhodes. The municipality seat is Gennadi, which is located about 14 km north of Kattavia. Kattavia village square or platia is situated over a creek which is dry for most of the year. The village currently has five full-service cafes and two general stores.
Jandiala is a revolutionary village from the very beginning. The village played an important role in the freedom struggle and produced prominent political leaders. Jandiala is the only village in India where two flags were hoisted in the village square called ‘Jhandian wala chowk’. A red flag with hammer and sickle (Communist Party of India) and another tri colour flag (Congress Party).

International Baccalaureate students will come to Pearson from all ten junior high schools situated in Area III of Calgary. Pearson is also connected to the Village Square Leisure Center by a skyway. Thury's World War I monument The World War I monument stands in the middle of the village square. It was inaugurated in 1925 after six years of preparations. The statue of a resolute poilu is a cast of Charles-Henri Pourquet's sculpture, La Résistance, manufactured by the and also adopted by hundreds of other French villages for the same purpose.
Niederöfflingen village square Edeltrudiskapelle A church consecrated to "St. Adrud" had its first documentary mention in 1197. A new building of Saint Edeltrudis's Church was built in 1822, for which stonecarving from the destroyed Himmerod Abbey was used for doors and windows, and also a portal. When building work finished on the new church, the parish obtained a new high altar in 1826.
El Carmen is a residential area for many of the farm workers for Tacama and other surrounding vineyards and farms. El Carmen was badly damaged by the 2007 Earthquake in Peru. The main school in town is Instituto Estatal 22340. The main church in the village square is Yglesia del Carmen , built in 1779, but was destroyed during this 2007 earthquake.
Birchington-on-Sea railway station is on the Chatham Main Line in England, serving the village of Birchington-on-Sea, Kent. It is down the line from and is situated between and . The station and all trains that call are operated by Southeastern. The station is located at one end of the high street and a short distance from the village square.
The plans for Rosewood show two dedicated commercial zones: one at the southwest entrance to the neighbourhood, and the other surrounding the village square. Another mixed-use site in the northeast is another possible location for businesses. Rosewood is located adjacent to the Lakewood Suburban Centre which already has established commercial development. Eight home-based businesses exist in the neighbourhood.
Smalley's, a stage theater converted into a movie theater, had a single screen across from a Farm & Home store. With its post office, library, and the Baseball Hall of Fame, Main Street resembled a true village square. Today, the village has fewer traditional services for year-round and seasonal residents. Once boasting half a dozen gas stations, the village now has two.
Samuel Moffat built a trading post on the village square in 1811 at the junction of the New Windsor and Blooming Grove Turnpike with the Goshen Road. His son David later endowed Moffat Library on the spot. The hamlet began to prosper with a tannery, grist and plaster mills. A hotel was needed and Samuel Moffat built his Washington Tavern in 1818.
Vrysochori was founded in 1295. It was called Liasintsa (or Lesinitsa), until 1927, when it was renamed to Vrysochorion. The church of St. Charalambos in the village square dates back to 1814. The town suffered severe damage in both World War II and the Greek Civil War, and lost a large portion of its population during the 1940s as a result.
In 1932 a small number of residents of Cold Spring Harbor, NY commissioned a monument commemorating the village's earlier days as a whaling port. A boulder was dredged from the harbor and erected on the village square and lists the names of the nine vessels in the fleet. In later years the monument was moved to the museum's property, where it remains today.
Chèo orchestra accompanies the performance of water puppetry Chèo is a form of generally satirical musical theatre, often encompassing dance, traditionally performed by peasants in northern Vietnam. It is usually performed outdoors by semi-amateur touring groups, stereotypically in a village square or the courtyard of a public building, although today it is also increasingly performed indoors and by professional performers.

Serga tsässon is situated in the middle of the Serga village. The vicinity of the tsässon is used as a village square and has a swing, a flag post and some benches. Serga tsässon is dedicated to Saint Anastasia and the feast for this tsässon is on the 11 November (Nahtsipäev) (29 October according to Julian calendar). Tsässon is still used today.
Frederick Charles Brenckman wrote in 1913: The Split Rock Lodge and Lake Harmony was originally a private retreat for the executives of the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company, but much of the land was sold to developers. The lodge was destroyed by fire in 1970. A portion of the building survived the blaze, and it was rebuilt and sold to Village Square, Incorporated.
After four years of Ikpoko ogbo, the age group at 18 years is initiated into the masquerade system. On the day of initiation during the Nzire Ani festival, the courage and endurance of the group is tested through whipping by anyanchu cain on their legs. They are exposed to the egwegeregwe awala masquerade which dances at the village square kindred by kindred.
The layout of Benis is centralized; the village is surrounded by nearby mountains, which supply a stream that feeds into a local aqueduct. The aqueduct waters local gardens and greenery. There is a mosque, public bath, and various shops located around the village square. A main asphalt road leads south out of the village, into the rest of Shabestar County.
The church is significant primarily because of its strong associations with the important figure archpriest John Joseph Therry (1790-1864), co-founder of the Roman Catholic Church in Australia; champion of the rights of Irish immigrants and convicts; and patron of several church building projects in New South Wales and Tasmania. The building derives considerable significance from its location in a village square conceived by Therry in 1837, which, although never fully realised, retains a townscape significance value not found elsewhere in New South Wales. The modest character of the building reflects the needs and requirements of the time and the restrictions imposed by finances and the use of local building materials and techniques. Zygovisti (, also Ζιγοβίστι Zigovisti) is a village in the municipal unit Dimitsana, western Arcadia, Greece. It is located in the mountains east of the river Lousios, 3 km southeast of Dimitsana and 4 km north of Stemnitsa. At 1160 m elevation, it is one of the highest villages in Greece. There is a large marble book in the village square, commemorating the Greek War of Independence.

Other activities are often scheduled for the fair day, such as the Kinderhook Memorial Library Book Sale, free tours of the James Vanderpoel House, and live music.
In the former village hall, the history of Reningelst appears on a stained-glass window. Until the 1960s a brewery on the village square brewed Roökop (translated from Flemish: Red Head). The beer has now gone, but the brewery still stands (though part of it in ruins), now as the local cultural centre, also called Rookop. The Rookop cultural centre houses many local sports and hobby clubs.
Leitersburg Historic District is a national historic district at Leitersburg, Washington County, Maryland, United States. The district is centered on this early-19th century village. The village square retains three original early 19th century brick buildings, a tavern, general store, and dwelling; as well as a late-19th century wooden frame grocery store / meeting hall. Most of the original 30 log buildings, somewhat altered, remain.
Retail establishments in Smithville are congregated amongst two major nodes: the downtown core, and the Village Square Mall. Some of these businesses include: Tim Hortons, A&W; Restaurants, Gino's Pizza, Dollarama, and Giant Tiger. Smithville got its first and only tattoo establishment called Hellbender Ink Vintage Tattoo. It opened in 2013, and is a well respected business known for its various charity endeavours and community support.
Houses Overview Syrrako was inhabited before the 15th century (possibly in the 11th century) by Aromanians (Vlachs). Evidence for this includes the age of the plane trees in the village square. During the Ottoman period, after 1480, it was the capital of the self-governed federation of Malakasioi, consisting of 42 villages and belonging to the Valide Sultan. Because of this it enjoyed a privileged treatment.
As a result, the settlement suffered extensive damage due to shelling: the two Greek churches were destroyed, and only few traces of its medieval and ancient past remain, such as a column in the village square or architectural elements reused as spolia. Following the departure of the Greek population in the Greco-Turkish population exchange, the village was resettled with Turks from Romania in 1938.
Following the fire, new regulations kept the village square (Dorfplatz) open and clear of construction. There have been least nine non=conformist Chapels in the Mechell area, dating to the nineteenth and early 20th centuries:- Libanus Chapel, Llanfechell ;Libanus Chapel, Llanfechell: Methodistiaid Calfinaidd, Welsh Calvanistic Methodist Chapel on the village square. Founded in 1832, rebuilt in 1903. SH369912. Ebenezer Chapel, Llanfechell ;Ebenezer Chapel, Llanfechell: Welsh Independent chapel near the School, on Mountain Road. Built 1862, replacing a Chapel built soon after 1800.

Carolina Forest Boulevard was recently extended into the Village Square Shopping Center and currently terminates at Village Center Boulevard. Plans call for the entire road to be widened into a multi-lane, divided highway running through the center of Carolina Forest. As of June 2011, of the road still needs widening, at a cost of $9 to $10 million, with bicycle paths to be included.
This first graduation tower was about 166 m long and stretched south from the current Sülbeck village square, Dorfplatz. In 1686 the first main brine well was ready plus two smaller wells. To pump the brine out of the soil and supply the graduation tower pumps were needed. The only apparent source of power at the time was water, which was in short supply on site.
The executions almost eradicated the male population of the village, leaving many women without any support in raising their orphaned children. No reparations were ever paid to the families of the victims. One of the hostages, Giannis Kartsonakis (Γιάννης Καρτσωνάκης), survived the execution and the following coup de grâce and was later ordained Orthodox priest. A monument commemorating the victims has been erected in the village square.
The village has a primary school with about 180 pupils in the 4–11 age range, serving Worsthorne, Hurstwood, Brownside and Pike Hill. The school houses seven classes in modern buildings and has extensive playing fields and grounds. Students are organised into four houses, Gorple, Extwistle, Brownside and Ormerod. The houses are named after the four roads running into Worsthorne, which meet in the village square.
Dorsheim does not have its own daycare, but the centre in neighbouring Laubenheim is intended for children from both villages.Daycare Found in Dorsheim itself are a village square with an oversize chess set, a playground, a football pitch and an outdoor basketball court. Paragliding is common at the Naheblick, the local lookout point from the cliffs.Public institutions The municipal hall (see above) is used for various events.
The first six stores were set to be in Palm Beach Gardens, Boca Raton, Vero Beach, Tampa, Naples, and Coral Springs, Florida. The first GreenWise Market opened on September 27, 2007 in Palm Beach Gardens. The second Publix GreenWise Market opened in Boca Raton on May 29, 2008, located in Boca Village Square. The third Publix GreenWise Market opened November 6, 2008, in Tampa's Hyde Park neighborhood.
Bernsbach’s village square and church It is believed that Bernsbach was founded about 1200 by Frankish settlers. It had its first documentary mention in 1240 under the name Wernhardispach. About 1460, it was named in the gazetteer compiled by the Zwickau Franciscans as Pernsbach. At this time, Bernsbach belonged to the Grünhain Monastery, after whose dissolution in 1536 it passed to the Amt of Grünhain.
The village was put on a formal footing in 1872 after the etymology seems to be a romanian village as such name is not present in Hungarian language. The Roman Catholic Church, built in 1902, lies in the village square. It was donated by Bishop Sándor Dessewffy (b. 1931). The villagers drilled a well to supply water, and the main square is named the Heroes' Well.
There is a children's play park and a wooded area, Bellsquarry Wood, with trails connecting Bellsquarry to Murieston, and a primary school. The Elm Tree Inn located at the village square, re-opened in early 2005 as a pub (downstairs) and restaurant (upstairs). Brucefield Industrial Estate is to the west of Bellsquarry. Bellsquarry is situated just South of the Edinburgh to Kilmarnock road (A71).
During the Middle Ages, Angeren grew to a village with a village square, a fortification ('Het Roode Wald') and a flour mill. The symbol of Angeren is Het Keuje ('The Pig') and there is a small statue of it in the center of the town. The symbol refers to the historic dependency of Angeren on agriculture (mainly pig farms). The local football club is S.V. Angeren.
Turkish authorities claimed that approximately 100 heavily armed militants rampaged through the village, dragged all the civilians to the village square and burned their homes and property. After an hour of propaganda session dozens of men from the village were killed in front of their families. The militants then moved on to setting the whole village on fire. 214 homes, the school, the mosque and the community center were burnt down.
Morsko is known for its annual spring Morsko carnival (Morščanski pust). Many locals wear original masks hand-crafted by the painter, sculptor, and cartoonist Branko Drekonja. The costumes reflect political or other events of interest that took place that year. The villagers then take part in a traditional carnival procession that visits each village household and holds a public performance in the village square, known as na Gorici.
Elemaga people receive day-to-day government authority at a local level in Ama-ala (the village assembly), through the help of the town crier (PRO). Barbauld's father was headmaster of the dissenting academy in Kibworth Harcourt and minister at a nearby Presbyterian church. She spent her childhood in what Barbauld scholar William McCarthy describes as "one of the best houses in Kibworth and in the very middle of the village square." Biso was a Frankish prince who had holdings in the area. Bürstadt lies in one of the most culture- and history-laden of Germany's old domains. Conditioned by the Rhine rift's fertile soil and wealth in wildlife and biodiversity, the Rhine's upper bank was already settled very early on.
As part of the Verkommnis Fribourg and Solothurn were admitted into the confederation. During the Middle Ages, Stans was protected with seven towers. However, the town never built a wall to connect the towers and encircle it. The village square (Dorfplatz) was rebuilt following the destruction of the 1713 fire. Repairs were not always sympathetic to the traditional forms. However, there are some old manors still in existence, built in the traditional style of Zagori, notably that of the Gennadios family, near the village square and those of Cyparrisos, Frangoulis and Theodosiou.
St-Maurin, the only village in France of that name, is named after the saint to whom the village's 11th-century abbey is dedicated. The abbey, parts of which still stand beside the village square, was built by Benedictine monks. Reliefs cut into the stone of an archway portray Maurin having the top of his head cut off and his brain spooned out. The abbey was destroyed by the Albigeois war, then rebuilt.

It was later administered by Tintern Abbey. The church was greatly extended in the 15th century, and was restored and re-dedicated to St. Mary in the mid-19th century. Remains of The Procurator's House, some parts of which may date from the 14th century and others from the 16th century, are still standing just off the village square. The procurator was responsible for collecting the tithes of the village on behalf of the abbey.

From there it ran through the meadows between Salzderhelden and Sülbeck and reached its end point at the current village square in Sülbeck after crossing the Salzgraben very close to its end point.

Settlements always face the direction of the river, which was the obvious focus of life for its inhabitants. The basic layout of the settlement consists of two separate wings and a wide empty central space which served the purpose of a village square or meeting place. During works late antique burials were discovered.Asnières / Hôtel de Ville: Travaux Behind this wing was a rear courtyard opening onto the village square. The centre of the wings was marked by a forecourt with semi-circular lawns and topped by a bust of the king with the marquis' monogram on the base to remind the viewer of his royal post. Some courtiers thus mocked the château d'Asnières, calling it a new royal residence built in the marquis' name.

As many other villages in Cyprus, Angastina, until 1907, was bi- communal. On 17 August of that year a murder occurred that would eventually drive a wedge between the village's Christian and Muslim communities. A young Turk fell in love with a married Greek woman. He was warned off but took it to heart and stupidly fired upon a company of young Greek men very late at night while they were having a coffee in the village square.

The Grand Pacific Hotel served as a hotel until 1888 when Philip Simmerer bought it and turned it into a hardware store. It continued as a store until the 1970s. The Grand Pacific Hotel was then owned by Bill Kucklick, and he renamed it Kucklick's Village Square Annex. On October 10, 1975, while Kucklick owned the building, it was put on the National Register of Historic Places, and was known in the register for having Greek Revival-style architecture.

Church of Saint-Martin de Viam The parish church of Viam was probably built in the 12th century, as mentioned in its general structure. It is built on a rocky headland, all its walls resting on it. Well situated, it dominates the lake, the village square and the surrounding buildings. Essentially Romanesque, with thick walls, narrow openings on the south side, a half-circular apse, quite rare in the Corrèze and corbels of different profiles reign under the cornice.
The fireworks are made by Saint Catherine Fireworks Factory which falls under the musical society. Friday 31 August- "L-ahhar Jum tat-Tridu" St Catherine Band Club makes a march through the streets of Zurrieq accompanied by a statue of St Catherine. This is considered as the largest march of the feast, followed by many enthusiasts. The statue is later put on a pedestall in the village square accompanied by the march, fireworks and the traditional Hymn.
The Atlantic Pond, in the shadow of Páirc Uí Chaoimh is also used by walkers and is populated by wildlife, mainly ducks and swans. Dundanion Castle, overlooking the Marina but difficult to access, is a ruined 16th-century castle. It is from this spot that William Penn reputedly sailed on his first voyage to America in 1682 before founding the state of Pennsylvania. Blackrock Village hosts a farmer's market every Sunday morning in the village square.
Sanjay and Suman return to the haveli to seek the trishul and offer a battle to Samri. Durjan had moved the trishul to a different location within the haveli itself. After a series of tumultuous events, Sanjay manages to trap Samri in a coffin and, with the trishul in hand to check the monster, drags him out to the village square (next to the old temple). Chaïm Soutine, View of Céret, ca. 1921-22 While Pearlman initially decorated his Croton home with Old Master and American Realist paintings, including those found at local flea markets, he later turned to expressionist paintings. In 1945, he purchased an expressionist painting by Chaïm Soutine – View of Céret (formerly Village Square, Céret). Pearlman quickly made connections in the New York art world and traded his decorative collection for carefully selected examples of modern works by impressionist, post-impressionist and expressionist European artists.

At the south end of the village, a community recreation area has been under development since 1978. It has a swimming pool (first established by the Nazis in the 1930s), a grass sports ground, and two clay tennis courts.
Gradually, the families began to enlarge and became villages until Eastern Sha Tau Kok was developed, the 7 villages associated and made up the Hing Chung Engagement. They also opened up the Seven-Village Square. After the establishment of the engagement, the life has been smooth therefore villages all believed that it was because of the blessing of Guan Di and Guan Yin. To thank the gods and pray for good fortune, they decided to hold a ten-year session (Bun Festival).
Phoenixville, PA, runs an annual Sly Fox Bock Festival & Goat Race at the Sly Fox Brewhouse & Eatery in Pikeland Village Square on the first Sunday in May. The Sly Fox Brewhouse & Eatery is owned and run by the Sly Fox Brewery, a Pennsylvania brewery. The event has evolved into multiple races where the final race matches the day's winners. The winning goat has a Maibock named after it and its owners receive a $75.00 USD gift certificate for the Sly Fox Brewhouse & Eatery.
This bridge connect's Pullinkunnu area to the main Land Which is well connected to Changanassery and Alapuzzha towns. Pulincunnu is situated midway between Alleppey and Changanacherry, 2 km inward from the gorgeous AC Road. The village can be accessed via a road bridge or by a ferry that transports vehicles and people between the village and the shore connecting to the AC Road. There is also a waterway ferry service run by the KSWTDC which has a jetty near the village square.
The placename "Tycroes" is derived from the cottage or house (Ty) that stood at the crossroads, which is now the village square. In 1900 the village consisted of less than 100 homes but today there are about 800. The population at the turn of the century was approximately 400 and today is 2,122. Since 1965 and especially during the house building boom of the early 70s, housing development erupted spreading its wings in all directions and this changed the face of the village.
The rooms were enlarged, bathrooms were installed and the houses made more energy efficient. Between 2010 and 2011 the renovation of the houses 20 and 21 and the kindergarten in house 15 were carried out. From 2012 to 2013, houses 5, 18 and 6 were renewed by the architects Brenne. In 2014, the renovation of the houses 9, 10, 22 and 23 began, its completion was finished in October 2015. The former library on the village square was renewed in 2014.
Tourism is an important industry for the town, and the information centre is a good source of advice about accommodation, activities, wineries and where to eat. There are numerous options for accommodation, from casual B&Bs; to a five-star hotel. A small number of wineries and specialist tour operators offer vineyard tours, while there are many dining opportunities at wineries, or at the cafés and restaurants dotted around the attractive village square. A vibrant shopping precinct exists with boutique shops.
Catholicism, brought to the Basques by Christian missionaries, replaced early pagan beliefs in the 4th and 5th Centuries. Most of the festivals and banquets are held in celebration of a particular Saint in the Catholic Church. The Antzar Eguna used to be held during the Andra Mari or San Roque festival until 1877. The event also used to be held in the village square using horses in place of boats until 1722 when they started doing it in the harbor.
As a result, this raises questions about whether the other uncovered standing stones have indeed stood there since prehistory, or whether they are more contemporary in nature. Other standing stones have occasionally been found in the community grounds, including Garreg Hir (Grid Ref SN703835) and Cerrig-yr-Wyn (Grid Ref SN685836). In 1923 a quartz standing stone was moved from Fanc Troed-rhiw- seiri to the village square to serve as a memorial to the dead of the First World War.

The priests of Njoku Ji performed ceremonies such as the Ihu-ji na-ama, where the priest would lead the village council of elders in roasting yams in the village square. The Ihu-ji na-ama festival acted as the beginning of the yam planting season, and in fact, no yams were allowed to be planted before this ceremony had been performed, with the consequences of planting yams early being a curse of bad luck upon the offender and his household.

Conill's church in 1916 Conill was inhabited since ancient times. The village's church was mentioned in a document from 1151. The former church of Mare de Déu del Roser (Our Lady of the Rosary) dates from 1702. The rest of the village consists of five large houses built in the 18th century, named Cal Pont, Cal Palou, Cal Frare, Cal Cinca, and Cal Vilafranca, after the families who lived and worked there, and associated farm buildings, all surrounding a small village square.

In 2006 a memorial to those killed during world war two was constructed at the entrance to the tunnels. Access is possible, but it is unlit. Kokkino Chorio has three churches: St. George's which is located at the entrance of the cave and used on St. George's Day (April 23); St Katherines in the village which is used on November 25. The main church, used weekly and at other times during Lent/Easter and Advent/Christmas is St. Haralambos and is located in the village square.
The Carithers Store Building was a historic commercial building located adjacent to U.S. Route 136 on the northwest side of Village Square in Table Grove, Illinois. The two-story frame building was built in 1871; its design features Greek Revival and Italianate elements. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987 as the only surviving two-story frame commercial building in the Table Grove area. The building is no longer standing, and was removed from the National Register in 2020.
Householders used to be banned from owning dogs, but this rule is no longer enforced. Some features introduced by the NLT, such as commercial signage and a glass bridge connecting the Engine House and Mill Number Three, have been criticised. The retention of a 1924-pattern red telephone box in the village square has also been seen as inappropriate. The mills, the hotel and most of the non- residential buildings in the village are owned and operated by the NLT through wholly owned companies.
Shopping in Randfontein is characterised by typical High Street shopping with the majority of the shops situated along Main Reef Road and surrounds. The village, in which roughly 310 people live today, has retained its individual character in a cared-for and neighbourly atmosphere, underscored by a successful village renewal project with much greenery. Markham Public Library, Unionville Branch A new library, the Markham Public Library (Unionville branch), was completed in 1984, replacing the older Unionville Library, which was renamed the "Old Library Community Centre", and is now used for dance classes, meetings, and a church. The new library occupies 1,300 square metres, and is based on a traditional village square surrounded by eight "houses" of books expressed on the exterior as postmodern Victorian dormers. The library, which contains approximately 100,000 books and audiovisual materials, was designed by architect Barton Myers.
The belief being that roasting the new yam will make every other yam harvested to be strong, more edible and nourishing. The Igwe after the roasting of the yam is usually the first to eat the yam after which other people are invited to join him. Immediately the Igwe eats the yam, masquerades such as “Mikpala and “Ikehudo”, randomly parade the village square and market place teasing and entertaining children and women. The first outing of these masquerades signifies that the Igwe has eaten the new yam.
On the night of October 2, 1906, a mercantile building in the courthouse village square caught fire. The fire spread to the courthouse and destroyed it. All of its records were recovered except for a few old documents displayed in the gallery—likely tax lists. The destruction of the courthouse occurred during a years-long dispute between the citizens of Reidsville, who wanted to move the county seat to their city, and residents from other areas of the county, who were opposed to its relocation.
The parish church, St Martin's, dates back to the 13th century and remains in use. The buildings at the northern end of Ruislip High Street form the core of the original village square and are now Grade II listed. It originally featured a central water pump, but this was moved out of the road in the 1970s as a result of increased traffic. Early in the history of the Methodists, they established chapels, and fellowship meetings (seiadau) were established. There is a history of revivalists such as Daniel Rowland who held meetings at Tyddyn Isaf and the poet Dafydd Siôn Siâms who publicly cursed the new religion before himself being converted. He chastised the Methodists mercilessly before burning all their critical poetic works in a public bonfire in the village square. The Old Methodists' original communion chalice is to be seen in the National Library in Aberystwyth.
Galičnik () is a mountain village in North Macedonia and along with Lazaropole is one of the two biggest and oldest Mijak villages in the region. Galičnik has well-preserved traditional architecture, including an amphitheater in the village square, and is famous for its surrounding countryside and nature reserve. People from Galičnik and northwestern North Macedonia appreciate the local yellow cheese kaškaval (Kashkaval) that is produced in the region as well as the local salt brine white cheese "belo sirenje" which is a homemade speciality for this region.
Forsbrook is a village in Staffordshire, around three miles southwest of Cheadle and situated on the edge of the Staffordshire Moorlands. It is an old village and is mentioned in the Domesday Book, with the rather unflattering description as waste ground. The village derives its name from the Old English Fotes-broc - a brook or ditch. . The brook flowed through the village square, where it was crossed by a wooden pedestrian bridge and a ford for horses and vehicles, until it was culverted in 1932.
Park Square Historic District is a historic district located at Franklinville in Cattaraugus County, New York. The district encompasses the historic core of the village of Franklinville and include the landscaped village green, brickpaved streets, and the commercial or civic buildings fronting on the square or located immediately adjacent to it. Significant buildings range in date from 1828 to 1924 and reflect a variety of 19th-century and early 20th- century architectural styles including Queen Anne, Italianate, and Classical Revival styles. The village square was established in 1876.
The Tulsa location opened in 1971 near the intersection of 21st and Sheridan. The interior was designed to create the outdoor nighttime atmosphere of a Mexican village. Its various themed dining areas, with seating for over 500, included a village square with fountain, a 2-level lantern-lit cave, a tropical garden with 20-ft waterfall and stream, and a room resembling an aristocratic dining hall with a porch along with strolling mariachis. The Visigoth King Roderic is also said to have been buried here. The town is host to a restored 16th century church, called "the Cathedral", built on ruins dating from the time of the Suebi, as far back as to the fourth century — the first Visigothic cathedral built on the Iberian Peninsula. The inside of the cathedral holds the largest collection of Roman epigraphs in Europe, refurbished as a modern museum to contain the carved and inscribed Roman stones. There is also a 17th-century pillory in the village square.
Most of the villagers were hiding in two churches. The soldiers however were angry due to battle losses, the earlier procession, and possibly the discovery of a rotting head in one of the houses. According to a letter by village elders, one villager was killed and another wounded by IDF fire while assembling at the IDF's orders in the village square. They are saved from injury, though, by landing in the enormous hand of Bigpaw. Esplanade Hotel 1938 Esplanade Hotel site on Middleton Beach, Albany 2015 The Esplanade Hotel was a hotel that once stood overlooking Middleton Beach in Albany, Western Australia. The hotel was demolished in January 2007 by Singaporean owners, WCP Plaza, to make way for an 81-room hotel, function centre, village square, shops and health and recreation facilities. The proposal for the new hotel was approved in 2007 by the City of Albany. The Council also supported the rezoning of several locations in Earl Street and Barry Court to allow the development of the hotel.
After leading the college's concert band, Crest took over the leadership of the jazz band from Bud Young in the early 1960s. The San Mateo College Jazz Band won the majority of California Jazz competitions. Crest invited a number of professional jazz musicians, including John Handy and Vince Guaraldi, to make appearances with the band, which performed in the college's little theatre. Crest also led a professional band during the summer months at Rio Nido, California, on the Russian River, for evening concerts and dances in the village square, during the 1950s and 1960s.
Fingo Festival The Fingo Festival is a community-led arts festival held at Fingo Village Square in Fingo Village, a township 3 kilometres outside of Grahamstown, Eastern Cape. The festival runs for five to seven days, depending on funding, every June/July during the National Arts Festival. Established in 2011, the festival uses art as a tool to promote social cohesion, dialogue and social transformation within the Fingo Village township and the larger Grahamstown community. Featuring local and international acts, the festival's programme includes children's programmes, visual art, drama, music, workshops and youth dialogues.
From 1988 to 1992, he was president of Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Illinois. He was the founding president of Montgomery College just outside Houston, serving in that role from 1992 to 2002, and president of Tallahassee Community College from 2002 to 2010. In 2010 Law became the sixth president of St. Petersburg College, following the unexpected retirement of Carl M. Kuttler, Jr. In November 2016, he announced his resignation effective July 1, 2017. Along with Ambassador Allan J. Katz, Law co-founded nonprofit The Village Square.
Building of the Jewish Historical Institute on Tłomackie Street Tłomackie is a small street in Warsaw, Poland, in the area of Śródmieście, next to Plac Bankowy. Initially a small village square of the settlement of the same name, with time it was incorporated into the city of Warsaw and retained its traditional name. Among its most notable buildings was the monumental Great Synagogue. Blown up by the Germans in the aftermath of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising during World War II, the Great Synagogue was not rebuilt after the war.
Other than traditional festival days, The Polperro Festival has been held annually since 1996, being a community festival run by volunteers beginning on the 3rd Saturday in June which helps to promote business for the village. It started as an Arts and crafts Festival, and has developed to include live music of many genres, dance, street entertainment, theatre and children's entertainment. Most of the entertainment centres on Big Green, the village square, and for the last few years under a covered marquee. After 9 pm, for noise considerations, the festivities at Big Green disperse elsewhere.
There was some excitement when building works at the new village square brought up some ceramic piping that was thought might be Roman. However, the discovery turned into a disappointment when it became clear that the old pipes were actually the ones that had once been used to feed the old village drinking trough, and were not nearly old enough to be called ancient. Furthermore, they came not from Rome, but rather from the Kannenbäckerland (“Jug Bakers’ Land”, a small region still known for its ceramics industry) in the Westerwaldkreis, also in Rhineland-Palatinate.
The south and west sides of the courthouse Architect Joseph W. Royer of Urbana, Illinois designed the courthouse. Royer designed many government buildings across the Midwest throughout his career; his other designs in Illinois included courthouses in Champaign, Douglas, Marion, and Piatt counties. Royer used the Classical Revival style, which became popular in America in the 1890s and remained so through the 1940s, for the courthouse. The building is situated on a mound in Louisville's village square and is the highest and most prominent building in the city's downtown.
The pub near the railway station was built to house a cultural hall, which became the largest facility of its kind in the Plzeň-North District. Since 1990 the private companies have transformed the mining facilities for the production of precast concrete, interlocking tiles, and several other products. Skamneli village square The monastery of St Paraskevi (Agia Paraskevi) dates from the 12th or 13th century, as some of the oldest murals suggest, during the period of the Despotate of Epirus. It was founded as a nunnery with 60 nuns. On the record of its last commissioner, it became a Stauropegic monastery in 1453 after the Fall of Constantinople - that is it came under the direct jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople - and has remained so ever since.
In some parts, a small image of the folk Lohri goddess is made with gobar (cattle dung) decorating it, kindling a fire beneath it and chanting its praises. The folk Lohri goddess is believed to be an ancient aspect of the celebration, and is part of a long tradition of Winter solstice celebrations manifesting as a god or goddess. In other parts, the Lohri fire consists of cow dung and wood with no reference to the Lohri goddess. The bonfire is lit at sunset in the main village square.
Forty vehicles carrying members of the 24th Infantry Division Pinerolo then arrived at the village. Aided by a local collaborationist mayor, Italian troops rounded up the local population at the village square, while also setting fire to 150 houses. 25 men accused of directly participating in the assault on the column were taken to Mauritsa where they were executed. Women and small children were then transferred to the Amouri village, while all males above the age of 14 were told that they would be sent to a concentration camp in Larissa.
Tributes in Rothley on 17 May 2007 In 1988 Rothley was involved in a cricketing controversy, when then- England captain Mike Gatting was accused by The Sun and Today newspapers of improprieties with a barmaid at the Rothley Court Hotel.cricinfo.com These accusations led to the sacking of Gatting as captain, despite his protestations of innocence. In May 2007, Madeleine McCann, who lived in Rothley, disappeared when on holiday in Portugal shortly before her fourth birthday. The village square was decorated with yellow ribbons, teddy bears, notes and cards by people wanting to show support.
The festival is a seven-day event that is characterized by visitations, kindred meetings, cultural dances and masquerade display. During the period, issues bordering on the security, welfare and development of the community are discussed and possible solutions proffered. On the day of the festival climaxes, people from the seven families that make up the Obazu Mbieri assemble at the village square various delicacies made of fish are served. Different sizes and species of fish are prepared and one's affluence and generosity is measured by the size of fish he presents.
By mid- morning, the British troops had reached the village square, by fighting house- to-house. The old Newfoundland, two-room schoolhouse was the Village Square Inn Restaurant until it closed in 2010. The old Hillcrest School is now the township's community center.
Ocean Village in Dominica, Caribbean in December 2008 Ocean Village was the only ship in the Ocean Village fleet after 2009, a former brand of Carnival UK. It was aimed at mature cruisers who prefer casual informal cruising. The ship was sailing from Bridgetown, Barbados in the winter and from Palma de Mallorca, Spain in the summer. Onboard features included a 3-storey atrium called Village Square incorporating shops, a performance space, coffee and cocktail bars. A 2-storey show lounge called the Marquee featured tribute acts and dance/show routines from the onboard cast.
Zepperen has an elongated territory with the village square in the southwest corner. The communities of Roosbeek, Gippershoven, Tereyken and d’Eygen are situated more to the east and north. Ekhout or Dekken, in the middle of this territory, was mentioned in a document of 1244. This pasture between Eigenbeek and Bergbeek was used to graze the cattle of the villagers and to grow Canadian poplars by the village administration. In the late 19th century Dekken was transformed into farmland en since the 1950s the government allocated this terrain to build houses.
Interior of the Chapel The village of Ħal Millieri is believed to have been a very old habitat dating back to Roman times. The area is situated between the villages of Żurrieq, Qrendi, Kirkop and Mqabba. A total of four churches were located within the village of which only two survive, St John's and the Annunciation chapel. Records show that the chapel of St John was located in the village centre, with the square in front of the chapel serving as the main village square where trade could take place.
The great, new main building was completed in 1905 and 1906, whereupon the original house was converted into a commercial building and communal dwellings. Moreover, in the 1980s a modern building with more dwellings and office space was built on the institute's grounds. Today the Deaconry of Kreuznach cares for youths at the home; former facilities for babies and the elderly have been given up to other institutions. The village's appearance nowadays is predominantly characterized by the village square created in the 1980s and the new street, Ortsgemeindestraße, built in 1997 and 1998.
The use of a sickle, a tool used by peasants to cut the > rice at harvest time, suggested that another local peasant worker had > committed the murder. The local magistrate began the investigation by > calling all the local peasants who could be suspects into the village > square. Ugborough is from the Devon Expressway the A38. The main bulk of the village is situated encircling a central village square. In the village hall, which doubles as a pre-school, various entertainments are held mainly in the summer months ranging from live music to themed evenings. Campbells Creek Park is located on Main Road, Campbells Creek, Victoria. In 2009, the Mount Alexander Shire Council decommissioned the local swimming pool due to the poor quality of the shell and pipe work, and high operating costs. The council was committed to redeveloping the site in two stages. Stage 1 involved installing irrigation and drainage, a central path from the front entrance through the park to the Campbells Creek Trail and Reserve at the rear, development of a village square/boccie courts, grassed amphitheatre, arborist works and soft landscaping.

Verrès Castle is one of the most visited monuments of the Aosta Valley. Between 2007 and 2009 it had around 20,000 visitors every year. In 1884, the manor was used by Alfredo d'Andrade as one of his models for the Medieval Castle and Rock in Turin, which was built for the Italian General Artistic and Industrial Exhibition of that year. Every year since 1949, on the occasion of the historic carnival, the people of Verrès celebrate the 31 May 1449, when Catherine de Challant and her husband Pierre d'Introd went down to the village square and began to dance with the townsmen.
After passing through Glover center, VT 16 enters the town of Barton, then has a junction with I-91 (at Exit 25) about later. VT 16 enters the village of Barton, becoming Church Street until an intersection with U.S. Route 5 in the village square. The Ester Community Association sponsors an annual Fourth of July parade that travels from the village square on Main Street past the post office, turning right onto Old Nenana Highway, and ending about one mile away at the Ester Community Park. The parade features giant puppets, a children's bike brigade, small scale floats, antique cars and trucks, and dancing by the crew of the Ester Volunteer Fire Department. Summer residents of Calypso Farm throw vegetables to the crowd, and local politicians and community organizations hand out literature and candy. Lady Liberty and Uncle Sam are usually in the parade.

The town was established in 1843 in South Africa's inland plateau. It was founded to meet the religious needs of a growing farming community, but unlike most Karoo towns the church was not built as the physical focal point of the village; rather, the centrepiece is the village square. Bridgemere Garden World is to the north of Woore, just over the border in Cheshire. The village today is mostly residential with a number of small shops, centred on the Post Office and general stores on the village square. The old church of Agios Mamas in Koili was ruined by a massive earthquake in 1955 and is now covered by a trimithia tree. Before the earthquake, the whole village and the locals of the surrounding villages would visit Agios Mamas to celebrate the end of Easter, and also celebrate the end of their fasting. The church in the village square, Panagia Chryseleousis, replaced an older church which had stood in the same spot since the late 15th/early 16th century.

La Jolla Village Square is a retail power center with a collection of mostly big box retailers. The Siege of Seabrook In 2007, veterans of the Clamshell Alliance marked the 30th anniversary of its founding with the creation of a website called, "To the Village Square: Nukes, Clams and Democracy", which relates the story of the Clamshell Alliance and why it matters today.
This feat was possible mainly due to Tamm's very attractive position in direct proximity to both the Autobahn A81 and the railway line between Stuttgart and Heilbronn. Following the fire in 1713, the village square (Dorfplatz) was fully rebuilt, to its current unified appearance, in 1715 according to a plan by Josef Aebi and Ludwig Gassmann. The name of the area derives from the Pemberton family, landowners and industrialists from the North of England who played a role in the development of Llanelli (especially the local coal industry) in the early 19th century.The name 'Pemberton' was only present after 1902, and only appeared on the OS maps in 1911. It was named after the Pemberton arms that is now privately own house on Pemberton village Square. Before the name 'Pemberton' the village was known as 'Waun Wrla' and made out of a few cottages called Llanddafen row, the Pemberton arms and Llanddafen farm.
St Peter's Church, Dinas Powys St. Peter's church on Mill Road is the main Church in Wales parish church within the village while the Roman Catholic congregation worships at St. Mary's church on Edith Road. St Peter's Church was built in order to replace the old "Iron Church" in the village square in 1929-1930. The previous "Iron Church" serviced as a Chapel of ease for St. Andrews since 1881 but could only hold 180 worshippers. The Foundation Stone was laid on St. Peter's Day on the 29 June 1929 and was consecrated on 15 October 1930.
Koleda, an ancient Slavic winter ritual, is widely celebrated across northern Greece by Slavic speakers, in areas from Florina to Thessaloniki, where it is called Koleda (Κόλεντε, Κόλιαντα) or Koleda Babo (Κόλιντα Μπάμπω) which means "Koleda Grandmother" in Slavic. It is celebrated around Christmas by gathering in the village square and lighting a bonfire, followed by local Macedonian music and dancing. Winter traditions that are characteristic to Slavic speakers in Greece, Bulgaria and North Macedonia include Babaria (; ; ) in the Florina area, Ezarki (; ; ) in the Ptolemaida area, Rogochari (; ; ) in the Kastoria area, and Dzamalari (; ; ) in the Edessa area.
Thus a canal had to be dug to provide water supply from the river Leine, some kilometers upstream from Sülbeck. Water was tapped off the Leine at Hollenstedt, about 6,5 km upwards and following the rim of the Leine valley around the villages Stöckheim and Drüber. At the edge of the current village square the canal made a 90° bend from south to east and the water flowed back into the river Leine about 1 km downstream. About 100 soldiers dug the canal, called "Salzgraben" (salt canal) by the locals at a total construction time of two years.
The Youth Olympic Village (YOV) of the Games housed over 5,000 athletes and team officials from 10 to 28 August 2010. Located in Nanyang Technological University (NTU), it was divided into two zones: the Residential Zone and the Village Square. In an earlier interview Aoun said the villagers were summoned from a crier to assemble in the village square in front of a mosque. Two Israeli officers sipped coffee as the locals gathered. The crowd was then asked to hand over their weapons, and then the Arabic-speaking officer turned to converse with his troops, after which machine guns on top of the armoured cars opened fire and killed some 70 villagers. The corpses were left to rot for four days, and then Israeli bulldozers came and piled them into the mosque, which was then blown up with explosives.
In some villages, the tambourine, the triangle and the traditional dorga (a small earthenware pitcher, like a cruet, having a spout with a slot, similar to whistle) were played instead. When the dorga was filled with water and blown into, it produced a pleasant warbling note. In recent years, some volunteers form a small band and accompany the singing hymns as Dun Ġorġ had made it clear that no formal band was to take part. The procession used to make a stop, usually at the village square (pjazza) where one of the boys would deliver a short sermon on the Nativity.
Church of St Peter Near the village square are St Peter's Church of England Aided School, St. Peter's Church, St. Filumena's Catholic Church, St. Filumena's Primary School and a now disused Wesleyan Chapel. Also located on The Square is the Red House, a public house. In the middle of the square there is a large tree under which is a set of stocks. Caverswall Castle may date from a Saxon manor house, but the fortifications date from a licence to crenellate (royal permission to fortify) granted in November 1275, although there may have been an earlier application in 1230.
This is symbolic because it signifies the way the warriors that defeated Adah people were mobilized. The Otiekwe Adah moves round the villages every night with the chant "egwue egwue Otiekwe busa nkonko" It is usually called mmanwu anwulu. The eve of the Nzire Ani is usually eventful, it is the last day of Otiekwe masquerade performance and the dreadful Akpali masquerade. Akpali masquerade is the spirit that controls the water current (turbulence) when this masquerade performs at night and in the morning boats are docked ashore even at the village square, earthen pots kept carelessly are broken by this wave.
At the age of forty, all male adults of this age grade are initiated into adulthood through this ceremony. Prior to this ceremony it is expected that all of them must have married and the first to marry is celebrated as the father of the age grade (Nna Iru). After this celebration they are cleansed through shaving of their youthful hairs before taking up Isikolobia. As Isikolobia they are responsible for the organization and supervision of the youths to undertake specific jobs assigned to the youths such as vigilante services, clearing of village square, pathways, streams, fetching of firewood, digging of graves etc.
Dogwood Park is on the west side of the village, which houses the memorial carillon, offering concerts on Sundays throughout the summer months. Miami Bluff Drive provides good views over the river, and Mariemont Gardens is an area in the floodplain below the bluff which was used historically as farmland when not flooded. Located on the embankment below the drive is the Madisonville Site, a prehistoric Native American site that attracted early American settlers to the area. The village square serves as the community center with red brick Tudor buildings, including the Mariemont Inn and historical Mariemont Barber Shop.
Black Ham is very popular in this village and there is a speciality ham (Jamon) store selling large legs of ham of different types. The village also has ancient Tapas Bars which still retain their medieval, dark interiors and where ancient Spanish bar customs are still in vogue. Tapas like Jamon, Chorizo and Salami can be eaten at these bars and a custom involving the drinking of red water can be indulged in. The restaurant at the Plaza (village square) is also well-maintained in its ancient style and has beautiful ceilings, lovely paintings on the wall, old- style mock fireplaces near the ceiling of the restaurant and serves delicious Jamon.
Given these Western reviews, it is not surprising that African intellectuals of the time saw the book as bad for Africa, believing that the story showed Nigerians as illiterate and superstitious drunks. They worried that the novel confirmed Europeans’ racist "fantastic" concepts of Africa, "a continent of which they are profoundly ignorant." Some criticized the novel as unoriginal, labeling it as little more than a retelling of Yoruba tales heard in the village square and Tutuola as "merely" a story teller who embellished stories for a given audience. Some insisted that Tutuola’s "strange lingo" was related to neither Yoruba nor West African Pidgin English.
Naxxar F.C. was relegated two divisions and Zammit Tabona was suspended from the club presidency (which was offered to his wife), until he was reinstated two years later. In 1722, the rich Amsterdam merchant Jan Six II bought the fiefdom Hillegom and built improvements, including a stone bridge over the Hillegommerbeek and a pump in the village square as well as paving a portion of the main road. While performing vaccinations, Waldman is murdered by a stubborn patient, who is later hanged in the village square. He is so obsessed with his work that he drives Elizabeth away when she comes to take him away as Ingolstadt is being put into quarantine.
Clarens is an artists' haven with many well-known artists either living in or frequenting the village, with many art galleries scattered around the village square and the town. With the SS and SD corralled in the village square by the Wehrmacht force, it remained an extremely tense situation and a firefight was still a real possibility. When one of the British contingent drew the SD troopers’ attention to the weaponry they were facing, they finally conceded and began laying down their weapons. 1850 was the same year that Theodore Miles, son of an original pioneer settler of Newburgh Township, donated land east of Broadway Avenue, about equidistant between Harvard and Miles Avenues, for a village square. In 1852, the state of Ohio constructed the Northern Ohio Lunatic Asylum on what is now Turney Road between Warner Road and Vineyard Avenue, adjacent to the current neighborhood's western border. Housing will consist of 2731 single-unit dwellings and 1760 multi-unit condominium, townhouse and apartment dwellings. Between 2022 and 2025, Rosewood will reach completion and have an estimated population of 10,650. the city of Saskatoon has since updated the master plan eliminating a vital access point to highway 16, adding a large commercial property to the southeast and increasing density on the eastern portion of the subdivision by close to 50%.
Mochos village is located 12 km south of Stalis village, on the mountain side 45 km southeast of Heraklion city, in the inland of Hersonissos Municipality at an altitude of 400 m. A traditional village; which preserves its 16th century architecture, with a magnificent village square. In the square, traditional cafes, taverns and a local grocery shop offer local dishes, drinks and agricultural products. Every year on the 15th of August, the celebration of Virgin Mary take place, and a vast number of people gather in her honour, to feast on traditional delights and drink to the sound of Cretan traditional music and dance till the early morning hours.
Before the River Irwell was diverted to its present course it flowed by the foot of the rock, from which the road 'The Rock' takes its name, which provided the platform for the fortified manor house, parish church and a few houses nestling around the village square. The most imposing building in the early town would have been Bury Castle, a medieval manor house built in 1469. It sat in a good defensive position on high ground overlooking the Irwell Valley. Village of Geddes, 1624 West Genesee Street - old town square about 1875 - by Robert N. Dennis The town was formed from the Town of Salina in 1848. It is named after James Geddes, a prominent early settler who settled at the head of Onondaga Lake in 1794 and developed the salt industry. There also was an Old Geddes Village which included part of the west side of Syracuse and Tipperary Hill, the village square being located near St. Mark's Circle. The village of Geddes (incorporated in 1832 and 1837) was annexed to the City of Syracuse on May 20, 1886 with a population of nearly 7,000.
The village had significant importance to Portugal and was the retreat for Goa's high society, who would come to Colvá for their "Mundanca" or change of air. Today the Portuguese area is dotted with houses or villas, including many ruins. On weekends, huge crowds of tourists, visitors from around the world as well as local Indians, enjoy the sunset and various activities. The beach is particularly busy in October, when hordes of religious pilgrims come and visit Colvá Church, called Igreja de Nossa Senhora das Merces, that was founded in 1630 by the Roiz family and rebuilt in the eighteenth century on the village square.
For centuries, Mittelreidenbach was an agricultural community. But industrialization and improved transportation in the late 19th century and afterwards brought rapid changes to the village. In the years after World War II, the boom of prosperity allowed Mittelreidenbach to develop the “Ringstraße” and “Auf der Acht” areas in the 1960s and 1970s, to add a sewage system as well as the water supply system in 1974 and 1975, to resurface the roads and replace the 140-year-old village bridge, and to redesign the village square. But, eventually, because there were better jobs in the neighboring towns and cities, Mittelreidenbach turned into a residential community.

The South Peace Community Multiplex, located between the city and the village and partly funded by the village, was scheduled to open in 2007 and contain an aquatic centre with an Olympic-sized swimming pool, an indoor equestrian centre, and an indoor running track.
There are several catering and private bars in Varva and while tourism is not well developed there are several hiking trails around and throughout the city. Each year on the 17th of September there is a "village day", where traditionally a fair is held where residents participant with collective art shows. In the center of the village square is a "Fairy-tale Village", made in 1924, with gazebos, children's playgrounds, place of registration for special town events and several memorial signs. Along 'Peace Street' is the Park of Glory, made in 1967, which has the Obelisk of Glory, Alley of Glory and several of memorials.

In manor grounds a farmer's market and historic craft was to marvel at – just like the old farm equipment and the flea market in the village square and on the island. A choir singing with guests from Kitzscher and Mölbis in the church and a church service in the tent were also part of the program.

There are jogging trails that run through the parks and districts of the neighborhood, and the community's commercial areas and the facilities operated by the Assembly, which include swimming pools, tennis courts, playgrounds, performance spaces, and a large clubhouse, are all within walking distance. Kentlands is divided into several districts, including "Old Farm", built around the historic mansion and the Kentlands Village Square; "Gatehouse", named after the farm's entry gatehouse, which has been reconstructed; the "Hill Districts"; the "Lakes Districts"; "Kentlands Bluff"; "Midtown/Main Street"; "Market Square"; and "Kentlands Square".
Moy (mostly known by locals as "The Moy") was laid out in the 1760s for the Volunteer Earl – the patriot and aesthete James Caulfeild, 1st Earl of Charlemont (1728-1799) – opposite Charlemont Fort across the Blackwater. The formal rectangular market place, with lawns and horse-chestnut trees, was inspired by the square at Bosco Marengo in Lombardy, admired by the young earl during his grand tour of Europe. The houses lining the village square are mostly mid-18th century, though all four churches (Roman Catholic, Church of Ireland, Presbyterian and Methodist) are later. Moy used to hold a great horse fair, held once a month and lasting a whole week.

In 1948, Dame Ninette de Valois, a famous ballerina and ballet teacher, founder of the British Royal Ballet, was invited to Istanbul and the National Ballet School was established in Yeşilköy through her intermediary, modeled according to that of the Sadler's Wells Ballet in London. Later, it was integrated into the Ankara State Conservatory, giving its first graduates in 1956. Eventually, ballet and opera were separated in 1958, creating Turkish State Theatres and Turkish State Opera and Ballet. In 1965, the ballet season featured a ballet titled Çeşmebaşı, referring to the fountain found in the centre of the village square of every Turkish village.

In October 1917, the regiment took part in the Third Battle of Gaza, and on 13 November at El Mughar, supported a charge by 6th Mounted Brigade. 'A' Squadron, commanded by Maj. J.F.M. Robinson M.C.,The Battle for Palestine, John D. Grainger led 22nd Mounted Brigade, having captured their objective they pressed on to Akir and established a position on the far side of the village square, however they had to withdraw as they were unsupported by the rest of the brigade. Sadly it transpired that the village was the location of a Turkish Corps Headquarters, and had the success of the attack been exploited then a major dislocation of the enemy lines could have resulted.
On 1 January 2010 a Mitsubishi Pajero suicide bomb car with some 600 pounds of explosives drove into a village square where a crowd was watching a volleyball game played by some members of the lashkar, while most of the elders of the village and the lashkar were meeting in a nearby mosque. The blast caused at least 97 deaths (other sources claim 105 deaths), with a further 40 wounded. An unknown organisation within the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was responsible for the attack, which caused the most fatalities of any TTP attack. The driver of the bomb car was the son of a member of the Shah Hassan Khel lakshar.
Mark Daniels, the general superintendent of the parks from 1914, called for similar comprehensive planning to establish water and sewer systems, power distribution and telephone networks. A 1924 master plan by National Park Service landscape architect Daniel Ray Hull established a "village square" at the intersection of the railroad and east road just below the El Tovar. The first park administration building was established there. Hull used the local topography, dictated by Bright Angel Wash valley's topography, with residential neighborhoods on two small hills divided by a branch of the Bright Angel drainage, away from the main south entrance road down Bright Angel and keeping hotel development in the area of the Bright Angel Camp and the El Tovar.

The village of Wytschaete was on the summit of the ridge and the main defensive position at the north end of the plateau, having been fortified and prepared for all-round defence. A line of trenches traced the edge of the village and an inner line went round the houses at the village square and the church. The most formidable part of the defences were machine-gun nests in emplacements and house cellars along the western fringe of the village. Because of this, the Moskowitz home, along with that of the Mousekewitzes, is destroyed. In Hamburg, the Mousekewitzes board a tramp steamer headed for New York City.

The Bavarian statesman Karl von Abel retired and lived until his death in 1859 on his tenure manor in Stamsried. After the death of Ludwig von Abel the village became property of the kingdom of Bavaria. In the two world wars Stamsried was taken over by allied powers without a single shot being fired or any major resistance, in particular at the end of World War II American tanks entered the village square and were welcomed peaceably with a white flag. In recent times Stamsried and the entire surrounding areas has been a stronghold of the conservative Bavarian political party, the Christian Social Union, of which the current mayor Alfred Long is a member.

Each year at Whitsun, all the local clubs together stage the village festival at the village square “Unter den Linden” in the middle of the village. In early July, the sport festival staged by the TuS Königsau-Kellenbach is held at the sporting ground. Following in mid-August is the Kellebacher Kerb, the kermis (church consecration festival), and in September, the volunteer fire brigade holds the fire brigade festival, both of which are held in or at the municipal hall. Moreover, a decades-long tradition is enjoyed by the Rosenmontagszug (Shrove Monday parade) in which the fools from Kellenbach and neighbouring Königsau go door to door in both villages reciting a speech asking for gifts (Hahnappeln).

Following the end of the dangers, the village spread outside of the walls, the area in front of the citadel was filled in which is how 'Brce' developed, an urban type village square with a baroque monumental building of the Fraternity of St Peter built in the 18th century. At the end of the 19th century, a marina developed in front of the village. The Katalinic family built storage warehouses by the tower, on the shore. Males were generally engaged in manual work on pastoral and agricultural properties and females worked as domestic labourers in rural and urban areas. Brittle Paper is an online literary magazine styled as an "African literary blog" published weekly in the English language. Its focus is on "build(ing) a vibrant African literary scene." It was founded by Ainehi Edoro (at the time a doctoral student from Duke University, now an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin–Madison). Since its founding in 2010, Brittle Paper has published fiction, poetry, essays, creative nonfiction and photography from both established and upcoming African writers and artists in the continent and around the world. A member of The Guardian Books Network, it has been described as "the village square of African literature", as "Africa’s leading literary journal", and as "one of Africa's most on the ball and talked-about literary publications".
The village clustered around the church and the village Square for centuries, slowly expanding northwards, a process accelerated by the creation of the James Wood Park in 1922 and of the building of council houses from 1945 in Greenside and Bowyett. In the mid-1950s, council housing was built in Priorscroft in the north and in St. John's Place in the south of the village. At that time, the village included a branch of Bathgate Co-op Society, a miners' welfare (reflecting locally resident miners rather than any substantial colliery) and a residents parish council. In the early 1960s, the last council housing built in the village was erected in Northgate and Priorscroft in the north and also at Manse road in the south of the village.
She moved home and studio to Connecticut in the middle of the 1960s and thereafter favored local commercial galleries for exhibitions. A gallery in Bethel, Connecticut, gave her a 47-year retrospective in 1977. Reviewing the show a critic for a local paper described architectural pieces that had not previously been noted, pointing to her use of "the sparsest elements--a single while wall and lintel of its portal, a couple of arches, a village square, a fragmented empty chapel." Regarding a retrospective show in 1981 a critic for the New York Times wrote of landscape plaster reliefs that began to appear following her postwar trip to Eastern Europe and mentioned house shapes that had become a more recent preoccupation.
A unique characteristic of these manors were murals with floral themes covering the interior and they were also characterised by their unique carved wooden ceilings. While the older ceilings are now mostly gone, a very fine example of modern work in the old Scamneliot style can be seen in the hotel "To Rhadio" (το Ραδιό), along the main road, near the church of the Apostles. The church of the Apostles (Agioi Apostoloi) was built in 1793 next to the village square by a benefaction from two Skamneliots living in Moldovlachia (Principalities of Moldavia, Wallachia and Bessarabia), Demetrios and Christodoulos Saitzes. Ιt has beautiful wooden panelling and is of considerable historical significance as a representative of the style of the period.
There are records of a "Kingswear Ferry" as early as 1365. By the 18th century, a second ferry was sailing from Hoodown on the Kingswear side, upstream from Waterhead Creek, which had an easier approach than the steep slipway in the village square. The Dartmouth and Torbay Railway was authorised by its 1857 Act of Parliament to establish a steam ferry across the Dart from its station and agreed to purchase the ferries, although this was not completed until 18 November 1873, by which time the railway was a part of the South Devon Railway. Within three years it had become part of the Great Western Railway who continued to operate the Steam Ferry up until nationalisation into British Railways on 1 January 1948.

Francesco, attached to the Gothic church of that name, now secularized; it contains some slight Roman lapidary material, but a more important collection of Umbrian painting from the late Middle Ages through the 17th century: the main work is the Coronation of the Virgin altarpiece by Lo Spagna, originally in San Martino. Particularly notable are a group of ex- votos representative of 16th‑ through 18th‑century folk art. The Museo della Civiltà dell' Olivo provides an educational look at the olive industry, from the planting of the olive through its processing into oil; the Trevi Flash Art Museum (Now Museum of Palazzo Lucarini) houses contemporary art exhibitions.
At the hairdresser's, a Fascist has just had his head shaved when Fiorella arrives to accompany her sister Gradisca (Magali Noël), the village beauty, to the traditional bonfire celebrating spring. As night falls, the inhabitants of Borgo make their way to the village square: the blind accordion player (Domenica Pertica) relentlessly tormented by schoolboys; Volpina (Josiane Tanzilli), the stringy blond nymphomaniac; the stout and buxom tobacconist (Maria Antonietta Beluzzi); Titta (Bruno Zanin), the adolescent protagonist; and Aurelio (Armando Brancia), Titta's father, a construction foreman of working-class background. Aurelio responds in frenzied anger to Titta's pranks while Miranda (Pupella Maggio), his wife, always comes to her son's defence. Miranda's brother, Lallo (Nando Orfei), lives with Titta's family, sponging off his brother-in-law.
At 8 pm on 5 November each year, while the rest of the country is burning an effigy of Guy Fawkes, Shebbear has its own unique celebration. The one tonne lump of rock known as the Devil's Stone (or Devil's Boulder), which lies in the village square, is turned over by the village bellringers. The stone is a glacial erratic - not from a local rock formation. According to local tradition the stone needs to be turned over every year or a disaster will fall on the village - the last year it was not turned on 5 November was during the Second World War when such frivolity was frowned on, but after a few days of bad news someone flipped it over anyway.
In DB there was a place called Wympelwell in parochia de Taleton referring to the spot where the stream rises in neighbouring Talaton parish. The village is centred on the largely 19th century village square and rebuilt Norman church (which W. G. Hoskins described as having little of interest 'except a few carved bench ends'). Through the square runs a small stream which is one of many local tributaries of the River Clyst, which in turn feeds into the Exe. Whimple is large enough to support two public houses [pubs], a village shop,Post office and a Church of England primary school, and was mainly notable during the 20th century as being the home of Whiteway's cyder and perry products until its closure in 1985.
