He later created an irreverent short video about the show.

Sutaria in 2019 Sutaria started her association with Disney Channel India as a video jockey and continued to be associated with them, having two successful sitcoms to her credit. She has also been recording music in India and abroad for films, advertisements, and her own original work. Her song "Slippin' Through My Fingers" is part of the Ashwin Gidwani Production of Bharat Dhabholkar's Blame It On Yashraj. She has also played the lead role of Sandy in Raell Padamsee's production of the musical Grease.

Adams Ibrahim Adebola (born 5 May 1988), popularly known as VJ Adams, is a Nigerian video jockey, television presenter, entrepreneur, musician cum executive producer. His journey into limelight came after he contested at the 2008 edition of Next Movie Star West Africa. VJ Adams is renowned as a presenter on Soundcity TV, a Nigerian music channel based in Lagos. He co- anchored the Official Red Carpet at the 8th Africa Movie Academy Award with Nollywood Actress, Alex Okoroji and co-anchored 2014 edition of City People Entertainment Awards ceremony which was held in Lagos.

Ali Ansari (Urdu: علی انصاری) (born 8 September 1987) is a Pakistani actor, model, musician (trained drummer) and video jockey. Born in Lahore, he began his career as a RJ for hit radio show "Dude, where’s my song?" and then became a model. He made his debut as a television actor in the 2015 television soap series, Riffat Appa Ki Bahuein. He gained popularity by playing the role of "Saarim" in romantic saga Khaani and "Arham" in Mehreen Jabbar's small screen venture Dino Ki Dulhaniya and Baba Jani (TV series) (2018).

Abhirami Suresh (born 9 October 1995) is an Indian actress, singer, musician, composer, and video jockey. She began her acting career as a child (at age 12) with the television serial Hello Kuttichathan on Asianet, and her first composition was released at age 14. Meera in Beware of Dogs (2014) was her first character in a female lead role in a film. She is also known for anchoring the musical show Dear Kappa on Kappa TV. Abhirami and her sister Amritha Suresh are the lead vocalists of their music band Amrutam Gamay.

Still in his teens, Sheridan's Eli Radish toured with such notable acts as The Who and The Doors. The lyrics of Coe's "Longhaired Redneck" forever memorialized the concerts he performed with Sheridan while fronting the Eli Radish Band. In 2014 Sheridan began managing Coe and co-produced his new CD "Just As I Am", with Boris Menart. Sheridan also helped launch and manage his then-girlfriend Playboy model Nina Blackwood’s TV career as MTV’s first video jockey (VJ), and in October 1983 US Magazine praised his "astute management" for "orchestrating her meteoric rise".

Shruti Seth is an Indian actress and video jockey. Having began her career as television show host, she gained wider recognition with her comedic roles in several television shows and the Hindi film industry. Born and brought up in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Seth graduated St. Xavier's College with a degree in economics. She ventured into a modelling career and began hosting television shows for Channel V. A significant turning point came in her career when she cast in the role of Jiya Malhotra, a teenage witch in Star Plus's comedy series Shararat (2003–06).

Seth started her career as a guest relation executive at the Taj Mahal Hotel, Bombay. She began modelling at the same time "to make some pocket money", and was soon offered guest roles in a few television shows. Seth then hosted such successful shows as First Day First Show and Junglee Jukebox on Channel V. She said, in a later interview, that it was her time as a video jockey and television presenter on the channel "that firmly put me on the map." Seth in a promotional event in 2012.

In 1981, the cable television network MTV was launched, originally devoted to music videos, especially popular rock music. The term "video jockey", or VJ, was used to describe the fresh-faced youth who introduced the music videos. In 1982, the demise of disco in the mainstream by the summer of 1982 forced many nightclubs to either close or change entertainment styles, such as by providing MTV-style video dancing or live bands. Released in 1982, the song "Planet Rock" by DJ Afrika Bambaataa was the first hip-hop song to feature synthesizers.

Born to Nagesh and Nalini, Nakshathra was schooled at Chettinad Vidyashram in Chennai. She has an older brother, Nakhul Nagesh who is a lawyer. Nakshatra studied hotel management at IHM, before moving into the entertainment industry as a video jockey. She first worked on Thanthi TV by hosting the show Vaanavil before moving on to work as a host on television shows such as Sun Singer for Sun TV, and as an awards host for ceremonies such as Sun Kudumbam Viruthugal and the South Indian International Movie Awards.

Roche left home in 1993, still aged 17, and formed the garage rock group The Dubinskis with three female friends. The band never released an album, nor recorded any material, nor notably performed anywhere. There followed a period where she undertook anything that would shock and offend people – self-mutilation to paint with blood, drug experiments, or shaving her head. After successfully auditioning for the German music channel Viva, she worked there for several years as a video jockey and presenter, as well on the sister channel Viva Zwei, where she presented her show Fast Forward.

Smith landed a six-month job as a host for The Dixie Chicks' "Fly" tour, along with Nathan Blackburn on MTV's The Real World, entertaining tens of thousands of people each night between acts. Soon after the tour ended, Smith landed an interview with Country Music Television to be their first video jockey. Lance was CMT's first-ever VJ, joining CMT on April 28, 2001, as the host of CMT's new request show, CMT Most Wanted Live. Smith moved over to Top 20 Countdown in December 2001, as well as hosting other CMT specials, remaining a fan favorite.

Stolz was a video jockey for The Freshman on mtvU and was also an MTV News correspondent. In 2008, she reported extensively on the 2008 Iowa Caucus and interviewed presidential candidates John Edwards and Mike Huckabee. Stolz also pursued a career in fashion modeling; soon after she appeared on America's Next Top Model, Stolz was signed with Elite Model Management in New York City and was later signed to Ford Models in New York. Stolz also had a small role on an episode of the UPN series, Veronica Mars, as part of a challenge win for America's Next Top Model.

Monica Pauline "Nikki" Santos Gil-Albert (born August 23, 1987) is a Filipino singer, actress, host, model, and former video jockey. She is known for being part of the afternoon remake of Carlo J. Caparas' Pieta (2008–2009), and also in 2009, she portrayed Princess Punzalan's role in the afternoon drama Nagsimula sa Puso (2009–2010). She is also well known for her lead portrayal as Jennifer "Jenny" La Peña in the 2012 remake of the 1990 radio serial of Salvador Royales' Mundo Man ay Magunaw, originally played by Jennifer Sevilla in the film version and was produced by SEIKO Films.

As claimed by the multimedia magazine Village Pipol: "[w]ith Sharlene San Pedro and Nash Aguas' cuteness and palpable chemistry, they became one of the youngest love teams loved by millions of Filipinos". San Pedro was surprised to have been given the lead role, as it had been a while since she was given an acting role. Her drama episode in Maalaala Mo Kaya (for which she received the "Best Single Performance by an Actress" nomination at the 32nd PMPC Star Awards for Television) was her most recent work. She was a regular video jockey in MYX during this time.

Jon Jonsson (born Jon Grimkell Helgasson) was born in Reykjavík, Iceland to an Icelandic father and a Thai mother. After winning Manhunt in 2004, he modeled and signed with major agencies in Singapore, Australia, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Most notably, Jonsson was a temporary video jockey for MTV Southeast Asia, and landed covers for several major magazines such as V, Men's Health, Urban, Female, and Catalogue in Singapore. He also modeled in campaigns for companies such as Abercrombie and Fitch, Ed Hardy, OCBC Bank, and headlined various runways shows and hosted the Singapore Fashion Festival for MediaCorp.

Van der Vlugt had previously worked as a model, but rose to prominence as a video jockey for MTV Europe. Initially performing as The Merry Babes with her then-boyfriend and guitarist Paul Kennedy, the addition of Pete Brown on bass and Rob Wakeman on drums resulted in the creation of Salad in 1992. Songwriting duties were mainly borne by Kennedy and van der Vlugt, with significant contributions from Wakeman who was also responsible for sampling. Distinctive parts of Salad's sound include the Kawai K1 synthesizer (always present on stage next to van der Vlugt during live performances) and Kennedy's backing vocals.

Kayla Meagan Iovan (born August 13, 1990), known by her stage name Kayla Rivera (formerly K-LA Rivera and Kaye) is a Canadian singer and actress appearing both in theater and television, best recognized for being a grand finalist of: Sharon's Search for the Next Female Pop Superstar (Star Power (TV series)) and playing the title role in Atlantis Theatrical's: Beautiful - The Carole King Musical. Rivera is furthermore a recording artist, songwriter, model, host, video jockey, and voice teacher. Rivera is currently active in musical theater and performs regularly on "Eat Bulaga," (a noontime variety show) and is under the management of All Access to Artists, Inc.

Kim Jagtiani (born Komila Jagtiani on August 8, 1980) is an Indian Canadian television personality who has hosted multiple TV programmes, including regular appearances on Daily Planet for a series entitled India Unleashed. She was also a VJ (video jockey) for Channel V India, hosting Cool Stop, P.O.V. and Club V, and was considered to be a household name in India. Born in Mumbai, India, she and her family moved to Oshawa, Ontario in Canada, and she altered her name from Komila to Kim in order to better help her adjust to Canadian society. Jagtiani won Miss India Canada in 1999, and has modelled for Seventeen and Cosmopolitan.

Vignesh Karthick is an Indian Film and Television actor, Video jockey, Stand- up comedian Radio jockey, Screenwriter, Cinematographer and Film director. He started his career by acting and directing Short films and participating in reality shows, including the comedy game shows like "Athu Ithu Ethu" in STAR Vijay and Comedy Jodies in Zee Thamizh as a stand-up comedian. He later went on to host of those shows, especially the popular shows like Suriya Vanakkam, Thapal Petti En 8484 and many other shows in Sun TV and STAR Vijay respectively. In 2015, he started to work as Radio jockey with the radio station BIG FM 92.7.

Zebbler in 2012 Zebbler (Peter Zebbler Berdovsky) is a visual artist, video jockey and the founder of Zebbler Studios, who is known for his work with Shpongle, EOTO, and Zebbler Encanti Experience. Originally from Grodno, Belarus, Berdovsky graduated from Arlington High School in Arlington, Massachusetts in 1999 before completing a degree at Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2006. Growing up, young Zebbler Peter Berdovsky always had music in his house thanks to a mother who was a music teacher. He quickly got used to being surrounded by balalaikas, drums, cymbals, shakers, pianos, accordions, and bayans as well as the sounds of Abba and the best of 1980s Russian pop blasting on his mum's vinyl record player.

In season four, MTV video jockey, actor, and radio host Jamie Aditya replaced Indy Barends and musician, singer, producer, and impresario Anang Hermansyah replaced Dimas Djay who left the panel after three seasons. In season five, Jamie left the panel and only three judges, Indra, Titi, and Anang were the judges. In 2010, Indra Lesmana and Titi DJ left the panel and replaced by composer and conductor Erwin Gutawa and Indonesian superstar Agnes Monica. Indonesian and Malaysian pop diva Rossa joined panel to be the fourth judge. And in 2012, Anang Hermansyah and Agnes Monica return as judges, while a frontman of Dewa 19, musician, composer, and hits-maker music producer Ahmad Dhani replaced Erwin Gutawa in the panel.

She completed her BFA in Painting and Printmaking (1973) while still living in New York, and started working at various galleries, including OK Harris Gallery. Klonarides began exploring video while working at the Brooklyn Museum Art School in the early 1970s; she organized a video panel, "A New Generation of Artists?" that included Lizzie Borden, Paula Cooper, Neil Jenney, and Joel Shapiro, and made her first video, Post-Show Depression, in 1975, documenting young artists Judy Rifka, Bill Jensen, Barbara Schwartz, and Porfirio DiDonna taking their first one-person shows down. She later worked late night clubs as a VJ (video jockey) and presented video programs in galleries, lofts, and as program director for the Artists' Television Network on Manhattan Cable Television.McKenna, Kristine.

Ulmen started his television career in 1996 as a video jockey on MTV Europe. He is known for his creative, and sometimes provocative, humour, which he displayed in TV shows such as Unter Ulmen or Mein neuer Freund, the German adaptation of Channel 4's My New Best Friend, and the award-winning TV series Dr. Psycho – Die Bösen, die Bullen, meine Frau und ich. Ulmen has also appeared in leading roles in successful cinema productions including Berlin Blues (2003), the screenplay Atomised (2006), based on Michel Houellebecq's novel of the same title, and Men in the City directed by Simon Verhoeven and released in October 2009. Since 2013, Ulmen and Nora Tschirner play a team of investigators in the Weimar-based episodes of the Tatort series.

While pursuing her education, she decided to appear in Chetan Shah's experimental English film, Framed, and subsequently received offers to be a music video jockey from SS Music. In early 2007, Lekha was signed on to play the lead role of an orthodox Tamil Brahmin girl alongside Silambarasan in his project Kettavan, after the actor and the film's director Nanthu had spotted her at a cinema hall. She replaced the team's original choice Sana Khan in the lead role, but despite completing a schedule, the film was shelved and later cancelled after the lead actor and director had creative differences. She had earlier made an uncredited appearance in a song from the 1999 romance film Kadhalar Dhinam and also made a guest appearance in director Jeeva's 2007 film Unnale Unnale as a bride at a wedding.

Cult Toons (also referred to by Exceeda as 'AKA Cult Toons') was a series of 30-minute slot experimental alternate comedy VJ (video jockey) videos, directed by Xavier Perkins and Brett Foraker. The inclusion of seemingly irrelevant and obscure clips from films and cartoons gave the show a very surreal and non sequitur quality. For example, common features of the re-edited cartoons would include repeated footage (when a character would say "You can say that again" the previous line would often be repeated), freezing the footage (usually after a line such as "Hold everything!" or "Stop!"), overdubbing voices (including randomly replacing lines with the theme music to The Godzilla Power Hour), and repeating a line or sound effect and adding drum beats and record scratches over it, turning it into a brief hip-hop song.

The series employs a panel of judges who critique the contestants' performances. The original four judges were AMI Awards-winning jazz musician Indra Lesmana, AMI Awards-winning pop diva Titi DJ, radio personality Meuthia Kasim and film director Dimas Djayadiningrat. The judging panel currently consists of musician, singer, entertainment producer, and impresario Anang Hermansyah, musician, music producer, and television personality Maia Estianty, Indonesian Movie Awards-winning actress and pop singer BCL, ex-frontman of Dewa 19 and pop-rock singer Ari Lasso, and runner-up of Indonesian Idol season 2 Judika. Other judges who have been a part of the show are radio and television host Indy Barends, MTV video jockey and actor Jamie Aditya, composer and conductor Erwin Gutawa, pop diva Rossa, Indonesian superstar and performer Agnes Monica, hits-maker producer Ahmad Dhani, frontman of Gigi Armand Maulana, and vocalist of Kotak Tantri Syalindri.

J.D. (John) Roberts began his news anchoring career as anchor of CityPulse Tonight after several years as an entertainment reporter and MuchMusic video jockey. On May 4, 1987, CityPulse moved into a newsroom set at 299 Queen Street West in Toronto along with the other station operations, from 99 Queen Street East. After the move, CityPulse began to move the anchors away from a central desk, positioning them around the newsroom (such as the assignment desk, equipped with police radios, banks of monitors, and perhaps the most unique feature, a map of Toronto with blinking lights indicating major highways, positioned behind a large glass wall, allowing the anchors to draw on the glass with markers to indicate the locations of stories and incidents), or walking through the newsroom. 24-hour coverage, akin to the 24-Hour News Source format popular in the US at the time, was instituted in the early 1990s, initially to cover the Gulf War (known as Gulfwatch).

The Zone began its life as the Afterschool Zone on YTV, debuting on September 2, 1991, with its first host Phil Guerrero, a lone speaker seated on a stool in front of a spartan orange backdrop. The Afterschool Zone was simply a small segment that played between airings of regular television programming, primarily as an entertaining segue into the next programming block to retain viewers and to provide some level of interaction with its young audience. Similar programming existed on YTV's weekend morning broadcasts, also starring variety of hosts, labeled "PJs", or program jockeys, as a take on DJ (disc jockey) and VJ (video jockey). This was done primarily as a tactic to comply with Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission restrictions on advertising in children's programming: popular imported programming would run a few minutes short due to fewer ads being permitted compared to US stations. Instead of filling the time with public service announcements or other filler material (which had been the previous practice of YTV in the late 1980s/early 1990s), the idea of devoting several minutes between programs to interaction between live-action hosts was used, and has proven successful to this day.
