Versal is an English-language literary journal that publishes poetry, prose and art.. It was founded in 2002 by American poet Megan M. Garr (editor) and is published by wordsinhere, a literary organization in Amsterdam, Netherlands.. In 2009, Poets & Writers magazine listed Versal as One of '22 lit mags that do more for your work.' Versal publishes both new and established writers from around the world, including Argentina, Uruguay, Morocco, Romania, the United Kingdom, Germany, China, South Africa, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Croatia, Hungary, the United States, Canada, France and Australia. Its editor Megan M. Garr has, in the Versal 7 and 8 editorials, on the Versal blog and in an interview, discussed the connections between Versal and translocality.. Garr was also a panelist at the 2011 Prague Microfestival of Literature at which translocality was a central theme. The text of Garr's presentation during the panel can be found on Versal's blog.

Uni-versal Extras Ltd. was founded in 2005 by 23-year-old Oxford Brookes graduate Wayne Berko. After researching the market, Berko realized that feature film and TV productions shooting in multiple locations across the UK would benefit from having one nationwide casting agency. Funding was obtained by investing his own savings and by applying for DTI loans.

Standard ideas can be used in singularity theory to classify, up to local diffeomorphism, the affine focal set. If the family of affine distance functions can be shown to be a certain kind of family then the local structure is known. The family of affine distance functions should be a versal unfolding of the singularities which arise. The affine focal set of a plane curve will generically consist of smooth pieces of curve and ordinary cusp points (semi-cubical parabolae).

Rifkat Ibragimovich Bogdanov (; June 13, 1950 - November 3, 2013) was a Soviet and Russian mathematician known for contributions to nonlinear dynamical systems, bifurcation theory, and differential geometry. He was an ethnic Tatar. In his work on bifurcations of limit cycles and versal deformations of singular points of vector fields (1975-76), he described a bifurcation of co- dimension 2, which has become known in the literature as the Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation. Born in the village of Mamykovo in Tatarstan, Bogdanov had a doctorate in physico-mathematical sciences and was a professor in two Russian research organizations: the Skobeltsyn Institute of Nuclear Physics at Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Department of Higher Mathematics at MATI -- the Tsiolkovskii State Technological University.

In 1971, Varchenko proved that a family of complex quasi- projective algebraic sets with an irreducible base form a topologically locally trivial bundle over a Zariski open subset of the base. This statement, conjectured by Oscar Zariski, had filled up a gap in the proof of Zariski's theorem on the fundamental group of the complement to a complex algebraic hypersurface published in 1937. In 1973, Varchenko proved René Thom's conjecture that a germ of a generic smooth map is topologically equivalent to a germ of a polynomial map and has a finite dimensional polynomial topological versal deformation, while the non-generic maps form a subset of infinite codimension in the space of all germs. Varchenko was among creators of the theory of Newton polygons in singularity theory, in particular, he gave a formula, relating Newton polygons and asymptotics of the oscillatory integrals associated with a critical point of a function.

Malech’s first full-length collection of poetry, Shore Ordered Ocean, was published in 2009 by The Waywiser Press. The Cleveland State University Poetry Center published her second collection, Say So, in 2010.
