The first tropical cyclone of the season was initially noted on June 14, located 158 mi (254.27 km) southwest of Puerto Ángel, Mexico. Hurricane One headed north-northwestward toward the coast of Mexico, but veered away near Acapulco on June 16\. After veering away from Mexico, the hurricane began to parallel the coastline, until curving due north. On June 19, the hurricane passed within 20 mi (32.18 km) of Isla Maria Cleofas in the archipelago of Islas Marías offshore of Mexico.

The 1960s witnessed a declining Church, with shrinking portions of society expressing affiliation with the church. The church veered away from its defensive stance in the 50s, but was able to maintain its presence in some areas. In 1962, when the GDR introduced military conscription, an opportunity for the church to maintain its sphere of influence presented itself in the form of ‘construction soldiers’ (Bausoldaten). After Blanck left Black Dice to focus on painting, he returned to music, but veered away from his former band's electronic aesthetic. The surface version of Nirbhay missile was test fired for the first time on 12 March 2013 from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Balasore district of Odisha. The missile in its maiden flight was supposed to hit a static target situated 1000 km away in the Bay of Bengal. Missile took off from the launch pad successfully and reached the second stage of propulsion, travelling 15 minutes through its envisaged path at a speed of 0.7 mach. After that it veered away from its trajectory forcing the command centre to detach the engine from the missile mid way into the flight.

Sometime after composing the soundtrack for the Peanuts television special You're in Love, Charlie Brown, Guaraldi accepted a two-week performance engagement at the Old Town Theatre in Los Gatos, California. The tracks contained on An Afternoon with the Vince Guaraldi Quartet were recorded during several of those performances, which took place on October 17–29, 1967. It was soon after these performances that Guaraldi veered away from traditional jazz and began experimenting with electronic keyboards that Guaraldi historian Derrick Bang described as a "fusion-laced detour" resulting in albums like The Eclectic Vince Guaraldi (1969).

Developed by the Monotype drawing office team in Salfords, Surrey, led by Fritz Steltzer, the project veered away from a purely faithful revival towards a denser, more condensed design. This differentiated it from the other Janson revivals on the market. Nicholas commented "I think it was Morison's take on Janson - made a little heavier and narrower to give improved legibility and economy." After one voyage to bring elements of the 188th Glider Infantry Regiment of the 11th Airborne Division from New Guinea to Leyte, Feland embarked soldiers at Aitape, from which she sailed 28 December 1944 in the San Fabian attack force. In the initial assault in Lingayen Gulf 9 January 1945 she landed troops and cargo in record time, despite heavy mortar fire from shore which wounded two of her men handling landing craft. She cleared the beachhead next day, and that evening fired on a Japanese suicide plane which veered away, selecting another target. After calling at Leyte and Ulithi, she sailed to Guam to take aboard Marines for the Iwo Jima operation.

The road between the Southern Maryland Road at Camp Springs and Marlboro Pike at Meadows was included in the original state road system designed by the Maryland State Roads Commission in 1909. The Meadows Road was built as a concrete road between 1916 and 1919. The highway began at what is today Old Branch Avenue and followed modern Allentown Road east to Auth Road. There, the Meadows Road veered away from MD 337's modern course and headed due east along a road that was mostly obliterated by the construction of Andrews Air Force Base. MD 337's original eastern terminus was at the modern intersection of Fetchet Avenue and Patrick Avenue on the east side of the military reservation.

The Category 4 Hurricane Jose, as expected, veered away from Puerto Rico. A short time later, the devastating Hurricane Maria made landfall on Puerto Rico on Wednesday, September 20, near the Yabucoa municipality at 10:15 UTC (6:15 am local time) as a high-end Category 4 hurricane with sustained winds of 155 mph (250 km/h), powerful rains and widespread flooding causing tremendous destruction, including the electrical grid, which would remain out for 4–6 months in many portions of the island. Hurricane Dorian was the third hurricane in three years to hit Puerto Rico. The recovering infrastructure from the 2017 hurricanes, as well as new governor Wanda Vázquez Garced, were put to the test against a potential humanitarian crisis.

Over the next three semesters, it veered away from his original intent about mother-child separation toward a study of what Domalpalli later described as, "elements of class distinction and conflict that continue to infuse our society and culture even today." Kington joined the Wesleyan Methodist Church, but was expelled from that organisation when he disagreed with changes that veered away from some of Wesley's principles. Another attempt was made later and by dawn a small bridgehead had been established, where the 5th Panzer Regiment drove through and turned northwards, ready to divide into one column for the harbour and one to move west to stop the escape of the garrison. The German tanks were engaged head on by the 1st RHA and veered away, only to drive into the path of the British cruiser tanks, waiting hull-down and received anti-tank fire from three sides, losing sixteen of and retreated. From Dominguez Street, the dual tracks on private way ran southerly, just west of the Southern Pacific Branch Line and parallel to Alameda Street, crossing Carson Street, and Sepulveda Boulevard to a point approximately farther south. At this location, the dual tracks veered away from the Southern Pacific Tracks (and Alameda Street) southwesterly toward Wilmington, crossing a Santa Fe Branch Line and Pacific Coast Highway to reach Flint Junction, where the Long Beach–San Pedro Line joined from the east. From Flint Junction, the dual tracks continued southwesterly into Wilmington, crossing Anaheim Street, where the Catalina Dock Line branched off to the south.

The Rainbow Bridge and surrounding canyon seen from the Navajo Mountain side Rainbow Bridge is made from sandstone originally deposited by wind as sand dunes, during the end of the Triassic and the Jurassic periods. Extreme fluctuations in climate during the Triassic and Jurassic periods—the region was alternately a sea and desert on par with the Sahara—produced layers of sandstone with different levels of hardness. By the end of the Jurassic, the sea returned to cover these layers of sandstone and compressed them so tightly that they would persist until the present day. As Bridge Creek flowed toward the growing Colorado River during the last ice age, it carved first through softer rocks and veered away from the harder Triassic and Jurassic sandstones, eventually creating a wide hairpin bend that flowed around a solid "fin" of sandstone that would become Rainbow Bridge.

Part of the first class to reenter the Beijing Film Academy in 1978 (along with Fifth Generation helmers Zhang Yimou, Tian Zhuangzhuang and Chen Kaige), Ning Ying's career veered away from the path of her male counterparts when she was allowed to study abroad in Italy's Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. While in Italy, she met Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci, whom she would act as an assistant director for in the 1987 epic The Last Emperor. Her own career first reached international prominence with 1993's For Fun (also known as Looking for Fun), which would become the first of Ning Ying's "Beijing Trilogy," a loosely tied grouping of films that all take place in Beijing — the other two films being the black comedy, On the Beat and the drama, I Love Beijing. Together, the films are an analysis of the massive changes that China's national capital has undergone in the recent decades.

Over the past 40 years and particularly since the mid-1990s, Alliance's political philosophy has veered away from non-sectarian unionism towards a more liberal, neutral position on the question of either a united Ireland or continued Union with Great Britain. While the Good Friday Agreement has attempted to implement consociational power-sharing, Alliance continues to argue that such enforced coalition government in Northern Ireland entrenches division rather than providing a basis for overcoming it. The Alliance Party was founded on the back of efforts by the New Ulster Movement (NUM), which was established as a moderating influence upon the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP). After Irish nationalist politicians withdrew their role as official Opposition at Stormont, and the resignation of UUP Prime Minister of Northern Ireland Terence O'Neill in 1969, the NUM split between those who wished to remain a pressure group for the UUP and those who saw reform only through the establishment of a new political party.

However, his work veered away from the style pursued by his contemporaries, due to its uniquely bitter quality. As a filmmaker he is known for his Venice'58 Grand Prix winner The Last Day of Summer (Ostatni dzień lata, 1958), All Souls' Day (Zaduszki, 1961), as well as for his masterpieces Salto (1962) and How Far Away, How Near (Jak daleko stąd, jak blisko, 1973), as well as film adaptations: of Nobel Prize Winner Czesław Miłosz's book Issa Valley (Dolina Issy, 1982), and of Adam Mickiewicz's drama Forefather's Eve – Lava (1989). He is widely known for two novels, published by the Polish underground press: The Polish Complex (1977) and A Minor Apocalypse (1979). The latter work, a bitter satire about a washed-up writer who is asked to burn himself in front of the Soviet-built Palace of Culture and Science, Warsaw; the novel was adapted as a 1993 French feature film, directed by Costa-Gavras.
