The Sespe Formation is the first to appear above the "Great Unconformity" and is marked by interbedded mudstones, sandstones and pebbly sandstones. This bed sequence indicates an alluvial fan, meandering stream or braided stream origin. Upward from the Sespe Formation toward the Vaqueros, the grains become finer and the beds become thinner; indicating a transition to a shallow marine environment. UTRGV Fieldhouse (formerly UTPA Fieldhouse until the 2015 merger that created UTRGV) is a 2,500-seat multi-purpose arena on the campus of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg, Texas. It was built in 1969 for one of UTRGV's predecessor institutions, Pan American University, which later became the University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA), and is home to the UTRGV Vaqueros men's and women's basketball teams, as well as the Vaqueros women's volleyball team. The Fieldhouse is also used extensively by the Department of Health and Kinesiology. Located on the far east end of the campus, the UTRGV Fieldhouse is among the oldest Division I arenas in Texas.

Later Californio vaqueros made "El Camino Viejo" a well-known trail that connected Rancho San Antonio with the Pueblo de Los Ángeles. Perhaps the first Spanish immigrant to take up residence in Hawaii was Francisco de Paula Marín (1774-1837), a self-promoting adventurer who knew several languages, and served King Kamehameha I as an interpreter and military advisor. Later Marin may have advised Kamehameha's son Kauikeaouli (Kamehameha III) on Hawaii's fledgling cattle industry, as Marin had spent time in Spanish California, and Kauikeaouli visited there in 1832 to observe the California cattle industry first-hand. Kauikeaouli was greatly impressed with the horsemanship and cattle handling skills of the Spanish vaqueros of California, and he invited several of them to Hawaii to teach those skills to his own people. The native Hawaiians these vaqueros trained became the "Paniolo", or "Hawaiian cowboys", who carry on a tradition of horsemanship and cattle ranching to the present day.

The Los Vaqueros Reservoir is located in the northern Diablo Range, within northeastern Contra Costa County, northern California. It was completed by the Contra Costa Water District (CCWD) in 1998 to improve the quality of drinking water for its 550,000 customers in Central and Eastern Contra Costa County, and the reservoir is accessible via Vasco Road, a road which connects Brentwood and Livermore.

Estadio Nelson Fernández is a multi-use stadium in San José de las Lajas, Mayabeque Province, Cuba. It is currently used mostly for baseball games and up to 2011 was the home stadium of the Havana Vaqueros team. Small landowners occupied the second rung of the South Texas economic and social ladder. These landowners lived in one-room adobe houses and spent most of their time caring for their horses and cattle. Hotel Vaquerías, over a century old, sits in a hillside niche with artesian springs, swimming, and horseback riding. "Vaquerías" or "place of cattle" is a natural funnel where vaqueros (cowboys) would drive the cattle from the grazing pastures for branding, birthing, or collection. Darío Antonio Veras (born March 13, 1973 in Villa Vasquez, Dominican Republic) is a former Major League Baseball player. A pitcher, Veras played for the San Diego Padres ( and ) and Boston Red Sox (). Veras attempted a comeback with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2007, but ultimately was cut from the team during spring training. Veras signed with the Vaqueros Laguna of the Mexican League and played for them during the 2010 season.

The industry grew slowly under the reign of Kamehameha's son Liholiho (Kamehameha II). Later, Liholiho's brother, Kauikeaouli (Kamehameha III), visited California, then still a part of Mexico. He was impressed with the skill of the Mexican vaqueros, and invited several to Hawaii in 1832 to teach the Hawaiian people how to work cattle. Even today, traditional paniolo dress, as well as certain styles of Hawaiian formal attire, reflect the Spanish heritage of the vaquero.

As of February 17, 2017, seven of the trails on the Los Vaqueros property have been temporarily closed to protect possible golden eagle nests. Four pairs of eagles have exhibited nesting behavior, according to CCWD, and the number may change during the spring. More trails may be closed, or some that have been closed may be reopened, depending on how productive the nests are. The closures typically last until late May or June, when the eaglets are fledged.

Ríos was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico on August 14, 1957. He debuted with the Vaqueros de Bayamón in 1978. In 1981, Ríos was traded to the Leones de Ponce where he became the starting point guard. He ended up averaging 17.7 points per game in his first season and remained a consistent scorer during this first stint with the team. However, in the middle of the 1985 season, Ríos was traded to the Atléticos de San Germán.

Juan José Gonzales, came to California with his father José Manuel Gonzales, as settlers on the 1775 De Anza Expedition. In 1833, Juan José Gonzales was mayordomo of the Mission Santa Cruz. He received a grant for the former Mission Santa Cruz pasture land, when the Mission was secularized. He built an adobe house on the eastern side of the property near Pescadero Creek and a wood frame house near Butano Creek, where his vaqueros lived.

Leones de Ponce is a professional basketball team in Ponce, Puerto Rico. They are a member of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional league (BSN). The primary economic activity in the Llanos since the Spanish colonial era is the herding of millions of cattle. An 1856 watercolor by Manuel María Paz depicts sparsely populated open grazing lands with cattle and palm trees. The term llanero ("plainsman") became synonymous with the cowhands that took care of the herds, and had some cultural similarities with the gauchos of the Pampas or the vaqueros of Spanish and Mexican Texas. Decades of extensive cattle raising has altered the ecology of the Llanos.

Between 1807 and 1830 the settlement area was used as an estancia (farm) for nearby Mission San José de Tumacácori. In 1808, Spanish settlers and Christian Indians moved into the Calabazas area and restored the chapel. In response, the Apaches again attacked in 1830, setting fire to the buildings and carrying off sacred vessels and vestments in the process. This discouraged anyone from living there for more than two decades, but vaqueros from Tumacácori continued to run cattle in the vicinity.

By the late 1870s, Fisher had a reputation as being fast with a gun. In 1878, an argument between Fisher and four Mexican vaqueros erupted. Fisher is alleged to have clubbed the nearest one to him with a branding iron, then as a second drew a pistol Fisher drew his own pistol and shot and killed the man. He then spun around and shot the other two, who evidently had not produced weapons and merely sat on the fence during the altercation.

On 19 August 1936, at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War, Nationalist forces detained him; he was subsequently shot during the early morning at a location between Alfacar and the neighbouring village of Víznar. The circumstances of his assassination and the location of his grave remain a controversy. The town of Alfacar has grown considerably from its ancient centre.

The 2014 campaign began with the inaugural Red River Cup featuring former PDL and future NASL side Oklahoma City FC, NPSL newcomers Fort Worth Vaqueros and USASA and former US Open Cup entrant Tulsa Lobos. OKC FC narrowly slipped past Lobos 2–1 and a late Juan Peralta header completed Athletic 2–1 victory over Ft. Worth. Lobos surprised Ft. Worth in the third place match by winning 2–1. The final again saw Tulsa dig itself into a hole.

In 2014 Oklahoma City FC left PDL to join the NPSL, which created an instant rivalry. The two clubs separated by just 100 miles play the OK Derby at least twice a season, as both compete in the NPSL South-South Central Conference. The inaugural Red River Cup was contested in May 2014. Four clubs (Fort Worth Vaqueros, Liverpool Warriors, Oklahoma City FC) met in a two-day tournament hosted by Tulsa, who won the title over Oklahoma City FC.

Eyen, a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, began his coaching career in 1979 as an assistant coach to Frank Carbajal at Santa Barbara City College, where the Vaqueros participated in the post season three consecutive years and led the State in defense two of those three years. In 1982 he became head coach at Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta, Calif., led his team to the 1984 CIF playoffs and was named coach of the County All Star team.

The Summerland Offshore Oil Field – distinct from the offshore portion of the main Summerland field, as it was more than a mile from shore – was not discovered until 1957. Vom Steeg was named head coach of Santa Barbara City College in 1992 after approaching the college regarding their lack of soccer teams and then raising $40,000 to start a men's and women's program. With the Vaqueros, Vom Steeg won five Western State Conference championships, as well as the 1996 California Community College State Championship. Vom Steeg led SBCC to four California State Final Fours in total. The team went 120-18-7 overall under Vom Steeg's reign, which ended in 1998.

The following year Valdez returned to the Mexican League and played the 2000 season with the Mexico City Tigres. After spending 2001 with the LG Twins of the KBO, Valdez's career came to a close with two more seasons in the Mexican League. Valdez played with the Cordoba Cafeteros and Tabasco Olmecas in 2002 and with Tabasco and Vaqueros Laguna in 2003.

Erasmo Seguin helped to create the first public school in Bexar, which his son attended. Although the Seguin family lived in Bexar, on the south side of Main Plaza facing Nueva (between current Main and Dwyer), they also owned a ranch of located from Bexar in present Karnes County. The land had been purchased from the Missión San Antonio de Valero after its secularization. The ranch was named La Mora, and by 1810 Seguin employed five vaqueros to work it.

In 1832 Kamehameha III invited vaqueros from California, then part of Mexico, to train native Hawaiians in managing the wild livestock, which led to the development of Hawaiian cowboys - paniolos. The trampled dead body of Scottish botanist David Douglas (discoverer of the Douglas fir) was found in 1834 in a bullock pit on Mauna Kea. Those traps were known for catching people, but the possibility of murder was considered in this case. Feral cattle contributed significantly to the decline of many plant species in the Hawaiian Islands.

During the California Gold Rush, Livermore made no attempt to join the miners. Instead, in 1847 he and Noriega had purchased Rancho Cañada de los Vaqueros and added it to their holdings. Their lands were on the route from the southern San Francisco Bay Area to the gold fields and so, a post office was established there in 1851, operating for two years. He was known for his generosity and hospitality to passers-by, so much that the area became known as "Livermore's Valley".

The religious origins of many of the Beni's towns can be attested to by the centrality of the local church in most of the communities, and in the very names of the towns: Trinidad, Santa Ana, San Borja, Reyes, etc. Today, the Beni region is the seat of the Roman Catholic Apostolic Vicariate of El Beni. The importance of cattle ranching is prominent in the regional culture. Cowboys, or "vaqueros", still play an important role in Beni society, comprising a large portion of the working class.

William Dutton Hayward arrived during the gold rush and "squatted" as he began to build a house next to the creek at the site of the old Polamares School. Guillermo Castro's Vaqueros came by one day and told Hayward to get off of Castro's property. William did leave, but went to Guillermo Castro directly and asked to buy a piece of his land. Saddles, spurs, ropes and vests used by the Rangers were all fashioned after those of the vaqueros. Most Rangers also preferred to wear broader-brimmed sombreros as opposed to cowboy hats, and they favored square- cut, knee-high boots with a high heel and pointed toes, in a more Spanish style. Both groups carried their guns the same way, with the holsters positioned high around their hips instead of low on the thigh. This placement made it easier to draw while riding a horse.

In Southern California, the Mexican citizens repelled American troops for five months, utilizing about 160 vaqueros, or cowboys, against about 700 American forces.

Loche began his coaching career at his alma mater until 1965, when he accepted the head men's basketball position at Vermont. Over a seven-year period, Loche guided the Catamounts to a 69–96 record before stepping down to take the head men's basketball coach and athletic director position at Florida Institute of Technology, where he stayed until 1976. Between 1807 and 1830 the settlement area was used as an estancia (farm) for nearby Mission San José de Tumacácori. In 1808, Spanish settlers and Christian Indians moved into the Calabazas area and restored the chapel. In response, the Apaches again attacked in 1830, setting fire to the buildings and carrying off sacred vessels and vestments in the process. This discouraged anyone from living there for more than two decades, but vaqueros from Tumacácori continued to run cattle in the vicinity. Temescal Creek is one of the principal watercourses in the city of Oakland, California, United States. The word "temescal" derives from the word temescalli, which means "sweat house" in the Nahuatl language of the Mexica ("Aztec") people of Mexico. The name was given to the creek when it became part of the Peralta's Rancho San Antonio. It is surmised that the Peraltas or perhaps one of their ranch hands (vaqueros) had seen local indigenous (Ohlone) structures along the creek similar to those in other parts of New Spain which were called temescalli.

About a year later, at age 19, Rivera was forced to abandon his father's ship after it began capsizing due to a malfunctioning water pump and an overweight load of fish. The Vaqueros Formation is a sedimentary geologic unit primarily of Upper Oligocene and Lower Miocene age, which is widespread on the California coast and coastal ranges in approximately the southern half of the state. It is predominantly a medium-grained sandstone unit, deposited in a shallow marine environment. Because of its high porosity and nearness to petroleum source rocks, in many places it is an oil-bearing unit, wherever it has been configured into structural or stratigraphic traps by folding and faulting. Being resistant to erosion, it forms dramatic outcrops in the coastal mountains.

The first European to make an expedition into this part of California was Pedro Fages, who passed through the Livermore Valley in 1772, on his return from Monterey. Mission San Jose (in present-day Fremont) was founded in 1797, and the Ssaoams lived there from 1806 to 1836. As mission lands were converted into ranchos by the Mexican government, some of the people left Mission San Jose to work as laborers on the new ranchos. The land was probably grazing land for cattle from Rancho Cañada Los Vaqueros.

Osbourne is recognized for having built up the men's and women's golf teams at the college, leading both teams to appearances in the California Community College Athletic Association Golf Championship. He became the head coach when the golf program was reinstated in 2008 after having been suspended in 1985. Eyen graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara with a bachelor's degree in Communications Studies in 1979 and he earned a master's degree in Education from Azusa Pacific University in 1984. He began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Santa Barbara City College in 1979 where he helped lead the Vaqueros to the state tournament three consecutive years. In 1982, Eyen was named head coach of Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta, Calif., and led his team to the 1984 CIF playoffs as well as coaching the county all-star team.

Carmelo Antrone Lee (born June 7, 1977) is an American professional basketball player currently playing for Atenienses de Manati of the Puerto Rico league Baloncesto Superior Nacional and Ironi Ramat Gan of the Israeli Basketball Super League. Lee has played with the Guaynabo Conquistadores in the National Superior Basketball league of Puerto Rico, he has played with Vaqueros de Bayamón since 2009. Internationally he has played with the Guaros (Venezuela), CAB (Portugal), Regatas C. (Argentina), LNBP (Mexico) and Metros (Dominican Republic). In 2007, Lee was included as a small forward in the Puerto Rico national basketball team.

Beginning in the 1970 season, the Mexican League used the format of two zones, North and South, and the champion would be determined in a play- off. Mexico won the 1970 North title, but lost in the final series against the Red Eagles of Veracruz by 4 games to 2. In 1972, the team was sold again, this time to a group led by Angel Vazquez. The team won on three of the four seasons between 1973 and 1976, defeating the Saraperos de Saltillo (1973) and the Vaqueros Unión Laguna (1974 and 1976) in the championship series.

The tradition of hackamore use in the United States came from the Spanish Californians, who were well respected for their horse-handling abilities.Connell, page 4 From this tradition, the American cowboy adopted the hackamore and two schools of use developed: The "buckaroo" or "California" tradition, most closely resembling that of the original vaqueros, and the "Texas" tradition, which melded some Spanish technique with methods from the eastern states, creating a separate and unique style indigenous to the region.R.W. A claim for Rancho Pescadero was filed with the Public Land Commission in 1852.United States. Atléticos de San Germán is a basketball club of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) based in San Germán, Puerto Rico. Founded in the 1930s after the amalgamation of the old San Germán team and the Farmacia Martín team, the team is one of the original BSN franchises. The Athletics play their home games at the Arquelio Torres Ramírez Coliseum. The franchise's fourteen championships are tied with the Vaqueros de Bayamón and the Leones de Ponces for the most of any BSN franchise, and account for 16.8% of all BSN championships since the league's tournaments began in 1930.

John Frederick "Jack" Fulbeck (December 19, 1916 - December 25, 2011) was an American poet and professor of comparative literature at the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He served two terms as president of the California State Poetry Society. His poems have won numerous awards, such as "Apostrophe to Amour" and "Introspection in the Cold" which won first prizes in California state level poetry contests, and "In Fuente Vaqueros" which won an international grand prize. His poem "Challengers" was read by Taylor Wang from the orbiting Space Shuttle Challenger in 1985 and is on record at the National Archives Building.

The eighteenth edition of the Caribbean Series (Serie del Caribe) was played in . It was held from February 1 through February 6 with the champions teams from the Dominican Republic, Águilas Cibaeñas; Mexico, Naranjeros de Hermosillo; Puerto Rico, Vaqueros de Bayamón and Venezuela, Tigres de Aragua. The format consisted of 12 games, each team facing the other teams twice, and was played at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico. For the first time in Series history, the designated hitter was adopted following the implementation of this rule by the American League during the 1973 MLB season.

In April 2020, the NPSL launched a competitive gaming competition to promote the growth of the league in new areas. The league hopes to "bring its community members together for friendly competition on a virtual pitch". The first eight clubs to formally join the new eSports league were Atlantic City FC, Central Florida Panthers SC, Denton Diablos FC, Duluth FC, Fort Worth Vaqueros, Milwaukee Torrent, Muskegon Risers, and Ozark FC. The league partnered with Virtual Pro Gaming to assist in operations of the league. Clubs will play full 11 v 11 in pro clubs mode, on FIFA, EA Sports video game.

The modern horse was reintroduced to the Americas by the Spanish conquistadors. By the time the Spanish missionaries were making their way into California in the 18th century, the Spanish vaqueros (cowboys) were well established in other parts of America and came with them. The King of Spain granted large tracts of land to loyal subjects, which were the basis for the "Californio" ranches and lifestyle common until the mid-19th century (and whose eventual owners were the source of the names of many California communities, including Irvine and Pacheco). These vast ranches raised range-bred beef for Mexican and other markets.

The CBL folded at the end of the 2010 season. The Bayamón club clinched the Series and was managed by José Pagán, winning five games in a row before losing to the Dominican Republic's Águilas Cibaeñas in the closing game, 5 to 4.

Harris coached seven seasons in Puerto Rico's National Superior League (1969–75), posting a 176-61 record and winning three national championships (1973–75). His club team, the Bayamón Vaqueros, won bronze in the FIBA Will Jones Cup in 1972 in São Paulo Brazil, the championships for World Club team. He also served as head coach of the National Team for the CentroBasket games in El Salvador in 1974, winning the first international gold in Puerto Rico's history. He also coached the team to a silver in the FIBA Copa do America X Europa in São Paulo, Brazil in 1974.

As stated by scholar Ralph Armbruster- Sandoval, "while they should have been owners, the Tongva became workers, performing strenuous, back-breaking labor just as they had done ever since settler colonialism emerged in Southern California." As described by researcher Heather Valdez Singleton, Los Angeles was heavily dependent on Native labor and "grew slowly on the back of the Gabrieleño laborers." Some of the people became vaqueros on the ranches, highly skilled horsemen or cowboys, herding and caring for the cattle. There was little land available to the Tongva to use for food outside of the ranches.

Oil was found on her land in August 1929, with the drilling of the "Erburu No. 1" well by General Petroleum Corporation, in the Vaqueros Formation at a depth of 1446 feet. The "El Capitan Oil Field" became one of the richest in the state; production at the field peaked in 1946. It was part of Bruno's large landholdings in the region and remained in the hands of his descendants until the property was sold to Exxon Mobil Corporation in 1971. On August 17, 1993 the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors declared County Landmark status for the Orella Adobes.

He has teamed up with Texas Governor Greg Abbott to help with disaster-relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, which devastated coastal areas of Texas. Strait along with long time friend and business partner Tom Cusick created the Vaqueros Del Mar (Cowboys of the Sea) Invitational Golf Tournament and Concert held annually at Strait and Cusick's Texas Hill Country resort Tapatio Springs Resort in Boerne Texas. The Invitational raises money for David Feherty's Troops First Foundation, benefitting wounded servicemen, servicewomen and their families. Since its beginning in 2012, more than US$5 million have been raised by the events.

Vaca Adobe or Vaca Dugout is a former settlement in what was then Tulare County, now Kings County, California. It was located at a stopping place on the eastern route of the El Camino Viejo about 3 miles north of the site of what is now Kettleman City close to the shore of Tulare Lake. In Mexico, the sombrero associated with the mestizo peasant class was adapted from an earlier hat introduced by the Spanish colonials during the 18th century. This, in turn, was adapted into the cowboy hat worn by American cowboys after the US Civil War. In 2016, the University of East Anglia prohibited the wearing of sombreros to parties on campus, in the belief that these could offend Mexican students, a move that was widely criticized. American Western wear was copied from the work attire of 19th century Mexican Vaqueros, especially the pointed cowboy boots and the guayabera which was adapted into the embroidered Western shirt.

Originally all Ruger Vaqueros were shipped with walnut grips incorporating a Ruger logo in a medallion. In 1998 some models began shipping with a faux-ivory grip and limited runs with gold inlay and engraving were offered. Like the New Model Blackhawk the Vaquero does not require the hammer to be half-cocked for loading and unloading, and uses a transfer bar mechanism which prevents the cartridge under the hammer from being fired without the trigger being pulled. The "New Model Vaquero" comes with checkered black plastic grips, which look similar to the checkered black rubber grips Colt used in the late 19th century.

At the ground surface, the contact with the Vaqueros is obvious along the south slope of the mountains, for it is almost always defined by the line dividing the rounded, grassy foothills from the more rugged, chaparral-covered sandstones upslope. Thickness of the unit at the surface ranges from about 1400 to 1700 feet south of the mountain crest, averaging 1600 feet. It is less thick north of the mountains, attaining a maximum thickness of around 1000 feet at the western end of its range, and thinning to the east. In the subsurface under the Santa Barbara Channel the thickness is variable but generally less than onshore.

Several thin layers of bentonite occur within the unit, and the unit is capped by one as well, which forms the base of the conformably overlying Monterey Formation. North of the Santa Ynez River, the Rincon is typically capped not by the Monterey but by the Temblor Formation, a sandstone similar to the underlying Vaqueros; additionally, north of the river the Rincon Formation grades into this sandstone to the east.Dibblee (1966), 43 Northeast of Blue Canyon and the Little Pine Fault, in the backcountry of easternmost Santa Barbara County and Ventura County, the Rincon Formation disappears, and the Temblor Formation rests unconformably on the much older Cozy Dell Shale.

In some places, certain high-porosity sandstones within the Sespe unit have been deformed into anticlinal structures, and contain considerable amounts of petroleum and has produced of oil in Ventura County, California. For example, both the South Mountain and West Montalvo Oil Fields have producing horizons within the Sespe, and as such the unit is of economic importance. Within Southern California, the combined Sespe-Vaqueros coarse-grained clastic rocks form the second-most important petroleum-bearing unit, second only to the Pliocene-age Pico and Repetto Formations, which are usually much nearer the surface. The overlying Rincon Formation, a shale deposited in a deep-sea environment, serves as an impermeable cap.

Led by the caudillos were the Argentine gauchos, a group demographically defined by their nomadic lifestyle in Argentina's interior as well as by their mixed heritage. Typically illiterate and lacking formal education, the gauchos remain a romanticized figure in the mythology of Argentina and were immortalized in José Hernández' epic poem, Martin Fierro. Similar in lifestyle to American cowboys or the Iberian vaqueros, gauchos were itinerant horsemen of the pampas with their own customs and folklore.Children of Facundo, de la Fuente Due to Argentina's chronic labor shortages, the caudillos' ability to galvanize the large gaucho population was vital to their economic interests and to their capacity to field armies and militias.

Roberto "Bobby" Ríos at an early age had excelled in a variety of sports before playing basketball including track and field where he was a prospect at Central High School in Santurce, Puerto Rico. He started his semi-pro basketball career in 1977 with the San Juan Moderno team that at the time was head coached by the legendary Julio Toro. That led him to be invited by the Vaqueros de Bayamón's then star Rubén Montañez to the team practices and eventually Ríos was signed by then Bayamón owner Hetin Reyes in 1978. Ríos moved to Ponce, Puerto Rico in 1981, after he was traded to the Leonés De Ponce.

The major occupations or industries in the Rupununi Savannah are cattle ranching for beef, Balatá bleeding to extract latex; farming groundnuts, maize (corn), cassava, and vegetables; fishing and hunting; and craft work such as the manufacture of hammocks, leather articles, Nibbi furniture and beadwork). There are Amerindian villages dotted throughout the Rupununi Savannah, as well as many ranches worked by vaqueros (cowboys), some of whom are descendants of 19th century Scottish settlers. The main town is Lethem, located beside the Takutu River, on the border with Brazil. Owing to the savanna's remoteness from the rest of the country most trade is conducted with Brazil and most people speak Portuguese.

La Goleta Gas Field Structure Map and Geologic Cross Section The gas field is within an anticlinal structure cut and bounded on the north by the More Ranch Fault.La Goleta EIR, 3-4 The geologic unit on the surface is the Monterey Formation. Beneath the Monterey is the Rincon Formation, a shale unit which forms an impermeable cap on the gas reservoir below. The main productive zone, directly under the Rincon, is in the Vaqueros Formation, a sandstone unit found about 4,000 feet below ground surface, familiar from its outcrops on the lower slopes of the Santa Ynez Mountains, right at the line where chaparral replaces grassland.

Four new gas wells would be drilled into a deeper, previously untapped gas reservoir believed to exist in an Eocene-age sandstone formation under the Vaqueros Formation. After this gas was exhausted, this reservoir could be used to expand the field's storage capacity. The County produced an Draft Environmental Impact Report, then solicited comments from the public and regulatory agencies, and then compiled those with responses into a Final Environmental Impact Report. In June 2013, the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors voted to allow the project to proceed, and drilling of the new wells, and construction of the upgraded facilities began in 2014.

Salta () is the capital and most populous city in the Argentine province of the same name. With a population of 618,375 according to the 2010 census, it is also the 7th most-populous city in Argentina. The city serves as the cultural and economic center of the Valle de Lerma Metropolitan Area (Spanish: Área Metropolitana del Valle de Lerma, AMVL), which is home to over 50.9% of the population of Salta Province and also includes the municipalities of La Caldera, Vaqueros, Campo Quijano, Rosario de Lerma, Cerrillos, La Merced and San Lorenzo. Salta is the seat of the Capital Department, the most populous department in the province.

A western-style show saddle with silver decoration Western saddles are used for western riding and are the saddles used on working horses on cattle ranches throughout the United States, particularly in the west. They are the "cowboy" saddles familiar to movie viewers, rodeo fans, and those who have gone on trail rides at guest ranches. This saddle was designed to provide security and comfort to the rider when spending long hours on a horse, traveling over rugged terrain. The design of the Western saddle derives from the saddles of the Mexican vaqueros—the early horse trainers and cattle handlers of Mexico and the American Southwest.

A plaque (California Historical Landmark #344) near the intersection of State Routes 33 and 198 now marks the approximate site of Murrieta's headquarters in Arroyo de Cantua, where he was presumably and officially ruled by the State of California to have been killed. However that claim was soon disputed and has continued to be. However the result of that skirmish was that the gang was broken up, and its activities ended. Some of the members returned to Sonora, although many of the gang's members remained in California, some continuing their criminal carriers, many others became vaqueros on California ranches or followed other walks of life.

When he refused to obey Hardin's demand to stop, Hardin hit him over the head with his pistol. That same month, Hardin may have wounded three Mexicans in an argument over a Three-card Monte card game, pistol-whipping one man over the head, shooting one man in the arm, and shooting the third man in the lung. While driving cattle on the Chisholm Trail to Abilene, Kansas, in the summer of 1871, Hardin is reputed to have fought Mexican vaqueros and cattle rustlers. Towards the end of the drive, a Mexican herd crowded in behind Hardin's and there was some trouble keeping the two herds apart.

Expansion teams were added in Great Bend, Kansas and Tucson, Arizona. On February 25, 2016 it was announced that the Las Cruces Vaqueros would sit out the 2016 season due to severe damage to their home stadium. Expansion team Salina Stockade was added to the league and played a limited 11-game home schedule in 2016. Following the 2016 season, a drastic shift in the Pecos League landscape occurred as two Kansas teams, the Salina Stockade and Great Bend Boom, both folded, while a third, the Topeka Train Robbers, moved to Bakersfield, California, taking the place of the former Bakersfield Blaze, who folded following the 2016 California League season.

Frederick Russell Burnham wearing a campaign hat The origins of the hat can be traced to the 1840s when U.S. Army mounted troops posted to the far-west sometimes wore wide-brimmed civilian hats, which were more practical than the regulation shakos and forage caps then issued. The crease was influenced by the designs of the sombreros worn by the Mexican Vaqueros. The name started to be used after the 1872–1876 regulations, which introduced a black felt hat—which could be drab after 1883—for fatigue use derived from the types popularized during the American Civil War. Some were worn with campaign cords, mainly as a form of decoration.

Farrington Field, home of the Fort Worth Vaqueros FC While much of Fort Worth's sports attention is focused on Dallas's professional sports teams, the city has its own athletic identity. The TCU Horned Frogs compete in NCAA Division I athletics, including the football team, consistently ranked in the top 25, and the baseball team, which has competed in the last six NCAA tournaments and 3 straight College World Series, coming within a win of making the College World Series finals in 2009 and 2016. The women's basketball team has competed in the last seven NCAA tournaments. Texas Wesleyan University competes in the NAIA, and won the 2006 NAIA Div.

Charreria, a word encompassing all aspects of the art, evolved from the traditions that came to Mexico from Salamanca, Spain in the 16th century. When the Spanish first settled in Colonial Mexico, they were under orders to raise horses named criollos (Spanish Creole people), but not to allow the indigenous people to ride. However, by 1528 the Spanish had very large cattle-raising estates and found it necessary to employ indigenous people as vaqueros or Criole herdsman, who soon became excellent horsemen. Smaller landholders, known as rancheros or ranchers, were the first genuine charros and they are credited as the inventors of the charreada.

Anaya chooses Maria Luna de Márez as the name of Antonio's mother, which parallels his own mother's surname, and her cultural and geographical origins: Rafaelita Mares, the daughter of farmers from a small village near Santa Rosa called Puerto De Luna. In additional ways Anaya's family and that of his young protagonist parallel: Both Rafaelita's first and second husbands were vaqueros (cowboys) who preferred life riding horses, herding cattle and roaming the llano, as did Antonio's father, Gabriel. Anaya's family also included two older brothers who left to fight WWII and four sisters. Thus, Anaya grew up in a family constellation similar to that of his young protagonist.

But grant was confirmed by the US District Court in 1856, and by the US Supreme Court; and the grant was patented to Antonio Maria Pico and Henry Morris Naglee in 1865. Report of the Surveyor General 1844 - 1886 Antonio Maria Pico sold his half the property to John C. Frémont in 1852. The grant was soon occupied by squatters and Frémont sold it in 1867 to Charles McLaughlin, who owned the adjacent Rancho Cañada de los Vaqueros.

The type locality of the unit is in Ventura County, on the east side of Rincon Mountain, where the formation is exposed in the south-flowing Los Sauces Canyon, north of U.S. Highway 101 and in the vicinity of the Rincon Oil Field.Dibblee (1966), 42 The unit is mapped from Ventura County westward along the south slope of the Santa Ynez Mountains, as well as on portions of the north slope. It also occurs in a few places north of the Santa Ynez Fault, but outcrops nowhere north of the Santa Ynez River. In the subsurface it frequently is found in well cores, underlying the Monterey Formation and overlying the Vaqueros Formation.

The events leading up to the gunfight seem to have started with around 75 Mexicans riding into El Paso looking for two young vaqueros who had been killed. The mercenaries, paid by a wealthy Mexican ranch owner, were looking for two missing farm hands, Sanchez and Juarez, and 30 of stolen cattle. Ben Schuster, the mayor of El Paso, had made an exception for the Mexicans, enabling them to enter the city limits with their guns. A constable named Gus Krempkau, at the request of the Mexican posse, accompanied the Mexicans to the ranch of Johnny Hale, a local ranch owner and known cattle rustler, whose ranch was some 13 miles northwest of El Paso in the Upper Valley.

Under the pseudonym "Los Tranz4Merz", they began working on various urban music albums outside the Christian sphere, with Linares El Elegido, Carnal, Stebani Cruz, Johnny Prez and Obie Bermúdez, while culminating projects by Christian artists, such as Alex Zurdo, Manny Montes, Samitto & Esabdiel and Jaydan. The large McLure Formation, of upper Miocene age, forms the impermeable cap beneath which enormous quantities of oil have pooled over millions of years, principally in the Temblor Formation, which is of Middle and Lower Miocene age. Within that formation, five different zones are identified in cross section, with a total thickness of petroleum-bearing rock approaching . Underneath the Temblor is yet another series of impermeable and permeable strata, like layers of a cake: the Vaqueros Sandstone and Kreyenhagen Formation are impermeable units beneath the Temblor; underneath them, another large pool of oil is found in the Upper McAdams Formation (of Eocene age) at a depth of around . This formation was not discovered until 1940.

Unlike many of the other major California oil fields, enhanced recovery methods have been used minimally at Kettleman Hills. Water flooding was used in both the Temblor and Vaqueros pools, between 1965 and 1977, but many of the enhanced recovery methods used successfully at other oil fields – steam flooding, fire flooding, gas injection, and so forth, which were so successful at Kern River, San Ardo, Midway-Sunset and elsewhere – have proved impractical because of the oil's relatively light API gravity and its depth. J.P. Oil Company, Inc., of Lafayette, Louisiana, took over operation of the entire Kettleman Hills North Dome Oil Field in 1997, but as of 2008 the oil field is run by Chevron Corporation.

The most important museums in the state are the Museo de Sonora, the Museo Costumbrista de Sonora, Museo Étnico de los Yaquis, Museo Étnico de los Seris, Museo de la Lucha Obrera, Museo de la Casa del General and the Museo del Niño la Burbuja, which are visited by over 180,000 people per year. Since colonial times, much of the economy of the state has traditionally been linked to livestock, especially cattle, with vaqueros, or cowboys, being an important part of the state's identity. Today, most are employed in industry and tourism, but the dress and folklore of the vaquero is still important. Jeans and cowboy hats are still extremely popular, especially with men.

Oil in the South Cuyama Basin comes from two primary pools, the Miocene-age Dibblee Sand and the Colgrove Sand, porous units in the Vaqueros Formation underneath the largely impermeable Monterey Formation. The sedimentary Cuyama Basin is cut by many small faults, and the oil exists in a series of stratigraphic traps, where it is in most cases blocked in its upward motion by impermeable blocks of Monterey, often offset by faults. The Trinity River Vision Authority, Tarrant Regional Water District, City of Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Streams & Valleys Inc, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are cooperating in an effort to redevelop Panther Island, an 800-acre area north of downtown along the Trinity River. The first part of the redevelopment plan calls for infrastructure improvements and flood protection. The second part calls for mixed-use development and sustainable growth along the Trinity River, which would result in a vibrant urban neighborhood. Panther Island is home to several attractions, including Coyote Urban Drive-In Movie Theater, Panther Island Pavilion, and LaGrave Field (former home of the Fort Worth Cats and Fort Worth Vaqueros FC).

In 1868, Devine decided to establish a cattle ranch in southeastern Oregon. To manage the business, he joined W. B. Todhunter to found the Todhunter and Devine Cattle Company. The following summer, Devine and Juan Redon as head Buckaroo with a dozen California vaqueros along with a chuck wagon and a Chinese cook trailed a herd of 2,500 cattle from California to southeastern Oregon while Todhunter stayed behind to look after the company's holding in the San Joaquin Valley. Once tamed somewhat by hunger and thirst, they were hauled out up a steep ramp, and tied by their horns to the horns of a tame, older steer (or ox) that knew where the paddock with food and water was located. The industry grew slowly under the reign of Kamehameha's son Liholiho (Kamehameha II). Even today, traditional paniolo dress, as well as certain styles of Hawaiian formal attire, reflect the Spanish heritage of the vaquero. The traditional Hawaiian saddle, the noho lio, and many other tools of the cowboy's trade have a distinctly Mexican/Spanish look and many Hawaiian ranching families still carry the names of the vaqueros who married Hawaiian women and made Hawai'i their home.

Solomon Schutz, mayor of El Paso, made an exception for the Mexicans, allowing them to enter the city limits with their firearms. The corpses of the two missing men were located near Hale's ranch and were carried back to El Paso.

Nat Love (1854 – 1921), an African-American cowboy and former slave. After the Reconstruction of the South after the American Civil War, freed slaves were still denied land ownership and other rights in many states, and about 20,000 Exodusters headed west to Kansas between 1879 and 1884, with smaller migrations to other Western states. Many trained under Mexican vaqueros, cattle-raising Native Americans, or their former masters; they then worked as ranch hands for wages equal to their white counterparts and offering more opportunities than existed for freemen in the South. Black men, typically former slaves, children of slaves, or working in plantations, and farms would have been exposed to kitchen work and stables as well.

Barnsdall-Rio Grande gas station, built in 1929 next to the Ellwood Oil Field The field is named for Ellwood Cooper (1829-1918), who owned the large Ellwood Ranch in what is now Goleta and the adjacent hills. His first name lingers in several local place names including the oil fields, Ellwood Canyon, Ellwood School, Ellwood Station Road, and the Goleta neighborhood "Ellwood". The first oil discovery in the area was in July 1928, by Barnsdall Oil Co. of California and the Rio Grande Company, who drilled their Luton-Bell Well No. 1 to a depth of into the Vaqueros Sandstone. After almost giving up they not only struck oil, but had a significant gusher, initially producing .

A cowboy, 1887, wearing shotgun-style chaps The earliest form of protective leather garment used by mounted riders who herded cattle in Spain and Mexico were called armas, meaning "weapons". They were essentially two large pieces of cowhide that were used as a protective apron of sorts. They attached to the horn of the rider's stock saddle, and were spread across both the horse's chest and the rider's legs. From this early and rather cumbersome design came modifications that placed the garment entirely on the rider, and then style variations adapted as vaqueros, and later cowboys, moved north from Mexico into the Pacific coast and northern Rockies regions of what today are the United States and Canada.

As Coyote Canyon, what is now Crowder Canyon, was the route that first the Old Spanish Trail and then the Mormon Road passed through the Cajon Pass. Antonio Armijo, who pioneered the Old Spanish Trail, did not cross over the San Bernardino Mountains by the Mojave Trail route over Monument Peak but followed a route he called "Cañon de San Bernardino" from the upper Mojave River west through Cajon Pass and down Crowder Canyon and then Cajon Canyon. It was known to the vaqueros of the San Bernardino de Sena Estancia who had come to the aid of Armijo's party with food.LeRoy R. In the late 1890s, a crowd of vigilantes headed by Reginald Fernald, a local newspaper publisher, tore down a drilling rig erected on Miramar Beach itself (now adjacent to a luxury hotel). The Summerland field had an early peak in production followed by a precipitous decline. A severe winter storm in 1903 destroyed many of the flimsy wooden derricks on the wharves and beach, and by 1906 most of the oil production had ended, leaving behind abandoned derricks, many of which stood for decades. Drillers discovered a new deeper pool in the field in 1929, in the Vaqueros Sandstone, at a depth of about , but the wells at that time were less numerous and obtrusive.

In 1839 and 1840 Canales was able to freely travel both sides of the Rio Grande and was successful in recruiting a small army of both Tejano and Mexican vaqueros and Caddo Indians, as well as receiving the assistance of the Texian Auxiliary Corps. On the 3 October Canales and his army marched to the town of Mier, where they faced the Mexican army. During the battle, Colonels Reuben Ross and Samuel Jordan charged at the centralist forces and encircled them in a hacienda, where the Mexican army was forced to surrender. Three hundred and fifty centralist soldiers who were taken prisoner ultimately defected and enlisted in Canales’ army.

An unknown amount of Mexicans (whether mestizo or criollo) have some amount of Basque descent and that community has increased in size from immigration from Spain in the early 20th century. The Spanish Civil War in the 1930s brought over tens of thousands of refugees from the Basque Country to political asylum in Mexico and Latin America. Most Mexicans of Basque descent are concentrated in the cities of Monterrey, Saltillo, Camargo, and the states of Jalisco, Colima, Zacatecas, Durango, Sinaloa, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Coahuila, and Sonora. The Basques were important in the mining industry, many were ranchers and vaqueros (cowboys), and the rest small shops owners in major cities like Mexico City, Guadalajara and Puebla.

Since the 1960s, the California Department of Water Resources has maintained temporary barrier dams to control the flow of water, a system which has improved water quality and circulation. The Head of Old River barrier is routinely installed during spring at the point where the Old River diverges from the San Joaquin, in order to prevent outmigrating young salmon from entering the longer, winding Old River where they are less likely to survive the journey to the sea. A pumping station on Old River east of Discovery Bay provides fresh water to Los Vaqueros Reservoir via pipeline. The Peripheral Canal project, proposed since the 1960s would have bypassed diverted water flows around the Delta and eliminated the reverse flow in the Old River.

Decauville locomotive Alcañices of the Decauville railway at Láchar on the Eiffel bridge The bridge was built in 1897, commissioned by Don Julio Quesada-Cañaveral to connect the station of Íllora by the Decauville railway at Láchar with two important factories that the nobleman had in Láchar, thus becoming the second railway of the province of Granada. Years later, the railroad disappeared and the bridge was used decades later by cars as a means of communication between Láchar, Daimuz Bajo, Valderrubio, Fuente Vaqueros and Escóznar. In 2006 it became unusable after the accident of a vehicle that caused the breakage of a small part of the support and the subsequent collapse of the entire structure. Since 2007 there's another bridge built next to the previous one.

In 2003 with the Vaqueros folding, the stadium seemed doomed to be relegated to a youth stadium or to demolition, but late that same year the stadium became home of the Puerto Rico Islanders. Its "L" shaped stands were not suited for the sport and it originally had an awkward feel to it since the stand behind the goal angles away from the pitch. Another name that has been used for the stadium is "La Islandera" since it was the home of the Islanders. It was home to Bayamon FC, a professional football team in the Puerto Rico Soccer League now playing in the Bayamon Soccer Complex, And Sevilla Bayamon FC, now called Sevilla-FC Juncos, they moved to Juncos.

It was developed for the purpose of working cattle across vast areas, and came from a combination of the saddles used in the two main styles of horseback riding then practiced in Spain—la jineta, the Moorish style which allowed great freedom of movement to the horse; and la estradiota, later la brida, the jousting style, which provided great security to the rider and strong control of the horse. A very functional item was also added: the saddle "horn". This style of saddle allowed vaqueros to control cattle by use of a rope around the neck of the animal, tied or dallied (wrapped without a knot) around the horn. Today, although many Western riders have never roped a cow, the western saddle still features this historical element.

In 1921, he homesteaded land near Mescal, Arizona (located southeast of Tucson) and its believed this land would become part of the larger Double X Ranch that he would come to own. Three years later, Leighton Kramer, an Easterner who wintered in Tucson, Arizona conceived the idea of a rodeo and rodeo parade in Tucson and turned to Echols for advice on creation of what would be called La Fiesta de Los Vaqueros. For his many years of involvement in the Tucson rodeo he would later gain the nickname "Mr. Rodeo." In 1934, Echols ran for sheriff of Pima County, even going so far as to have his friend and movie star Will Rogers campaign for him but still lost the election.

Dangerous was the last album in which the rapper Christian Ramos, most known as Syko, worked as lyricist, as he died in his sleep in Orlando on December 27, 2015. Syko had co-written also in Yandel's previous two albums in the songs "La Cama" and "Jaque Mate". The catchphrase "Dangerous" was first used in Yandel's 2011 song "Tumbao" featuring De La Ghetto (written by them and Tainy), from the duo's deluxe edition of the album Los Vaqueros: El Regreso, and wasn't used again until his 2014 EP Legacy: De Líder a Leyenda Tour. The Basques were important in the mining industry, many were ranchers and vaqueros (cowboys), and the rest small shops owners in major cities like Mexico City, Guadalajara and Puebla. Basque names are found in many places throughout north central and Northeastern Mexico, such as Durango, Victoria, Zuazua and Arramberri - the first province in the north of the Viceroyalty of New Spain (Mexico) to be explored and settled by the Spanish, Nueva Vizcaya, comprised the territory of today's states of Chihuahua and Durango. Many notable Mexicans have been of Basque extraction, such as Agustín de Iturbide, emperor of the First Mexican Empire, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, seventeenth century conquistador, Juan de Oñate, Francisco "Pancho" Villa, Vicente Fox, as well as directors and actors: María Félix, Dolores del Río, and Alejandro González Iñárritu.

In 1971, when MDSP included , the non-profit organization Save Mount Diablo was formed and open space preservation accelerated. MDSP was the first of twenty-nine Diablo area parks and preserves created around the peaks, today totaling more than . These Diablo public lands stretch southeast and include the Concord Naval Weapons Station, Shell Ridge Open Space and Lime Ridge Open Spaces near Walnut Creek, to the State Park, and east to the Los Vaqueros Reservoir watershed and four surrounding East Bay Regional Park District preserves, including Morgan Territory Regional Preserve, Brushy Peak Regional Preserve, Vasco Caves Regional Preserve, and Round Valley Regional Preserves. The new Marsh Creek State Park (California), formerly known as Cowell Ranch State Park, and Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve, are among the open spaces stretching back to the north.

Livermore Valley was named after Robert Livermore, an immigrant American rancher in Mexican Alta California, who with his business partner José Noriega were keeping livestock in the valley since 1834. Livermore and Jose Noriega received the Mexican land grant for Rancho Las Positas, which encompassed the valley, in 1839 from Governor Juan Bautista Alvarado. In 1847 Noriega and Livermore purchased Rancho Canada de los Vaqueros adjacent to the north of Rancho Las Positas and Livermore Valley in the Diablo Range. Livermore's name became well known during the California Gold Rush in the late 1840s−early 1850s, for an inn at his adobe ranch house in the valley that served miners and other travelers eastbound on the road from the Bay Area through the Diablo Range's passes to the Mother Lode region in the Sierra Nevada.

Unlike many oil fields in central California, the Russell Ranch field is not an anticlinal formation with an obvious surface expression – indeed the geologic formation containing oil is quite invisible from the ground surface, being covered with alluvium and masked by the mountain ranges running almost perpendicular to the oil field. The oil is in a large homocline, including porous sedimentary units dipping northeast and essentially planar, which terminate at the Russell Fault, a normal fault with an approximately vertical offset which has barricaded upwards movement of hydrocarbons against impermeable rock of Pliocene age. Alvarado and Pico were second-generation Californians and San Diegans and were citizens of Mexico and the United States. Rancho Monserate, a 13,323-acre grant stretched from the San Luis Rey River and Bonsall to the south to Stagecoach Lane and the Palomares house to the North to Mission Road to the west to Monserate Mountain to the east. Pio's nephew and local vaquero, Jose Maria Pico, had been residing in the area now known as the Fallbrook High School during the 1860 census and his family had registered to vote in October 1868, in time for the November presidential election, the first election after the Civil War ended. The first known image of the area was an oil painting done by James Walker in 1870 called Roping the Bear at Santa Margarita Rancho, which depicts Mexican vaqueros capturing a grizzly bear.

Rodríguez was brought to the BSN by the Vaqueros de Bayamón, a team that pioneered the tendency of bringing players from the New York diaspora to play in the archipelago. After gaining prominence in the BSN, he was among the first players to join the team following the end of the "Nuyorican barrier" in the late 1960s and early 1970s, which served as the spearhead to an influx of players to the program. The second member of the triad was Neftalí Rivera, who brought his own shot from the courts of New to the BSN. "El Tornillo" (Spanish for "The Corkscrew"), was a 360° 35-feet jumpshot that gained a fame as "the unblockable shot" in the BSN and was effectively used by Rivera, who established a pre-three-point line BSN record of 79 points in a single game that still stands.

The Guijarral Hills are a segment of a long anticline which includes the Kettleman Hills to the southeast, and which continues to the northwest as the large eastern extension of the Coalinga Oil Field (named there the Coalinga Anticline, and Anticline Ridge on United States Geological Survey maps). The uppermost productive units in the field are sand lenses within the Miocene-age Temblor Formation, named the Smith and Allison respectively from upper to lower. The most productive unit, and the first to be discovered, is the Leda Sands, which reside in the Miocene-age Vaqueros Formation, underlying the Temblor.

Gillespie's garrison was compelled to withdraw in October when the residents, Californio Lancers, vaqueros on horseback without firearms, only lances, revolted and chased the US occupying force back to the San Pedro Harbor. Los Angeles was not retaken until Commodore Stockton again captured the city on January 10, 1847, after the battles at the Siege of Los Angeles, Battle of Dominguez Rancho, Battle of San Pasqual, Battle of Rio San Gabriel and the Battle of La Mesa. These battles, in which the Californios were greatly outmanned and outgunned, represented the important overt resistance to the establishment of the American regime in the Los Angeles Basin. Lieutenant-Colonel Frémont and Governor of Alta California Andrés Pico signed the Treaty of Cahuenga, an informal agreement to cease fighting in California at the Campo de Cahuenga in the San Fernando Valley in January 1847.

In the 1895 Diccionario de Mejicanismos by Feliz Ramos i Duarte, the burrito or taco was identified as a regional item from the Mexican state of Guanajuato and defined as "Tortilla arrollada, con carne u otra cosa dentro, que en Yucatán llaman coçito, y en Cuernavaca y en Mexico, taco" (A rolled tortilla with meat or other ingredients inside, called 'coçito' in Yucatán and 'taco' in the city of Cuernavaca and in Mexico City). Some have speculated that it may have originated with vaqueros, the cowboys of northern Mexico in the 19th century. An often repeated piece of folk history is the story of a man named Juan Méndez who sold tacos at a street stand in the Bella Vista neighborhood of Ciudad Juárez during the Mexican Revolution period (1910–1921), while using a donkey as a transport for himself and his food.See, e.g.

After Wisin & Yandel's hiatus in the mid 2013, both artists had a great success with their respective studio albums, Wisin with El Regreso del Sobreviviente and Yandel with his Latin Grammy Award nominee gold record De Líder a Leyenda, as well as their hit singles as soloists. Yandel released two albums more before Dangerous: an EP and a live album both recorded at mid 2014 and titled Legacy: De Líder a Leyenda Tour, reaching the top position on Billboard 's Latin Rhythm Albums. On the other hand, Wisin focused entirely on his next studio album, Los Vaqueros: La Trilogía, which was later published in September 2015. In that year, before Dangerous' release, Yandel was nominated for four Lo Nuestro Award and a Latin American Music Award, with no wins, as well as two nominations at the Latin Grammy Awards in November, two weeks after his album's release.

Crowned with oaks and bays with grassland below on the west side, heavily wooded on the east side, the ridge is visible for miles. It includes views west to Highland Ridge (much of the scene depicted in his pivotal photo Winter Storm Over Marsh Creek) and north to Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve. To the east it overlooks Round Valley Regional Preserve and the Los Vaqueros reservoir and watershed, with more distant views across the defeated Marsh Canyon landfill, the new Los Meganos State Historic Park, Vasco Caves and Brushy Peak Regional Preserves, the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, and across the Central Valley to the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Bob Walker Regional Trail is also found in Morgan Territory Regional Preserve, stretching from Mt. Diablo State Park within Riggs Canyon across Highland Ridge, down into the Marsh creek drainage and back up and north around the Bob Walker Ridge and finally south to the Preserve main staging area.

The Polluelos returned to the BSN Finals, where they were defeated by the Titanes de Morovis in seven games. However, Melendez's numbers climbed again during the 1988 season, when he scored 16.9 points a game, with 209 assists for an average of 6.3 per game and 70 rebounds for 2.1 a game in the rebounding category. The Polluelos reached the playoffs but were eliminated during the quarterfinals. In 1989, Melendez played during 30 games, scoring 327 points, assisting 170 times and rebounding 60 times for averages of 10.9, 5.7 and 2.0, respectively. Between 1990 and 1991, Melendez was traded three times between the Aibonito Polluelos and the Vaqueros de Bayamon in the northern Puerto Rican city of Bayamon. His production numbers decreased as he was getting older and playing against younger competition; nevertheless he completed a 30-game season during 1990 between Aibonito and Bayamon, averaging a total of 9.2 points per game, with 3.9 assists and 2.1 rebounds a game.

El Texano left the UWA and joined rival EMLL where he began working both as a singles wrestler and as a regular tag team with his cousin El Dandy, collectively known as Los Vaqueros or simply as Los Cowboys. Later on El Texano began teaming with Silver King, replacing El Dandy as one of Los Cowboys. Los Cowboys began working for other promotions than just EMLL both inside and outside of Mexico, which led them to work for various international promotions such as International Wrestling Association both in Japan and Puerto Rico as well as working the UWA. In 1991 the team won their first tag team championship together, winning a tournament to become the first ever World Wrestling Association (WWA) World Tag Team Championship. On January 19, 1992 they added the UWA World Tag Team Championship to their collection when they defeated Gran Hamada and Kendo for the titles on a show in Japan and brought the titles back to Mexico.

Larry Tidwell was hired to coach the team for the 2013–14 season, which was the first for the Broncs in Western Athletic Conference play. They finished 14–16, with an 8–8 conference record. The following year, the Broncs, in their final year before transitioning into being known as the UTRGV Vaqueros, finished the history of Pan American with a winning season. It was their first since finishing 10–5 in the NAIA Division II level back in their first ever season. They also broke the record for most program victories (which had been 14 in 2013) with 19 victories. Other school records were set, such as conference victories, conference tournament wins (two), victories at home (12), victories on the road (4), and victories on a neutral site (3). Ultimately, they finished 19–15. In the 2015 WAC Women's Basketball Tournament, they beat UMKC and Cal State Bakersfield to reach the Championship.

Morgan Territory Regional Preserve, called "Top of the World Park" by area historian and resident Anne Homan, and the surrounding region are named for pioneer settler Jeremiah Morgan. Established in 1976, the East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD) preserve's nearly 5,000 acres (20 km²) are an important wildlife and recreational corridor stretching east from Riggs Canyon and Mount Diablo State Park to the Contra Costa Water District's Los Vaqueros watershed and EBRPD's Round Valley Preserve. The original preserve was located on Morgan Territory Ridge, east of Morgan Territory Road, and including the headwaters of Marsh Creek, but was expanded in the late 1980s and afterwards across the parallel Highland Ridge west of the road and into Riggs Canyon. Morgan Territory's sandstone hills include the headwaters of Marsh and Tassajara creeks, feature more than ninety species of wildflowers, and are home to mountain lion, golden eagles and the endemic Diablo sunflower and Diablo manzanita.

Doyle and Walker strategized about how to create public support for expanding the Preserve from its original 970 acres (3.9 km²), and in 1987 the square mile Marshall property was added to the Preserve. Seth Adams, staff for Save Mount Diablo, aided Walker and Doyle even as SMD worked to expand the nearby Mt. Diablo State Park with its Morgan Ranch acquisition. This first connection between the two parks, marked by SMD's acquisition of the 631 acre (2.6 km²) Morgan Ranch, was celebrated by a 1988 backpacking trip that eventually led to the 1994 creation of the Diablo Trail across six parks from Walnut Creek to Brentwood. In quick succession large square mile sections were added to the Preserve even as the 19,000 acre (77 km²) Los Vaqueros watershed was preserved to the east and Round Valley, threatened by Contra Costa County landfill proposals, was made into another new adjoining Regional Preserve.

Middle Tertiary formations found on Santa Rosa and Santa Cruz include the Vaqueros Formation, while those two islands plus San Miguel have exposures of the Rincon Formation, and Monterey Formation. Santa Rosa and San Miguel have exposures of the basaltic and dacitic San Miguel Volcanics, which include pillow structures, while the San Onofre Breccia is found on Santa Rosa, Santa Cruz, and Anacapa. Santa Rosa Island Volcanics consist mainly of basaltic breccia, which erupted about 19 Ma. San Miguel Volcanics consist of basalt and andesite flows, which erupted between 17-18 Ma. Santa Cruz Island (SCI) Volcanics on the north side of the island consist of andesitic flows and volcaniclastics, overlying the San Onofre Breccia, and dated at about 16 Ma. The eruptive center is east of Devils Peak, and juxtaposed against the west- northwest trending strike-slip Santa Cruz Island Fault to the south. These 2400 m of SCI Volcanics have been further subdivide into four members, consisting of the lowermost Griffith Canyon, followed by Stanton Ranch, Devil's Peak, and Prisoner's Harbor, the uppermost.

In 2007, Romero joined local team Villa Clara, where he played for four seasons. On October 31, he was selected by the Grand Rapids Drive in the fourth round of the 2015 NBA Development League Draft. On January 28, 2016, he made his D-League debut in a 90–87 win over the Iowa Energy, recording one point and one rebound in seven minutes. On March 20, 2016, Romero had a double-double in a 102–97 win over the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, finishing with 13 points, 14 rebounds and three steals, including nine points in the fourth quarter. In 27 games, he averaged 5.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. On April 6, 2016, Romero signed with Atléticos de San Germán of the Puerto Rican League. The next day, he made his debut for San Germán in a 90–75 loss to Vaqueros de Bayamón, recording 11 points, three rebounds, three assists and one steal in 17 minutes. On May 26, he was named the BSN Rookie of the Year. In 17 games, he averaged 13.0 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 steals in 24.1 minutes.

Vassallo debuted in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional tournament on April 17, 2009, scoring 22 points against the Gigantes de Carolina. He closed his first week scoring 26 and 19 points in games versus the Vaqueros de Bayamón and Cangrejeros de Santurce, as well as capturing 15 rebounds in these two games. He closed the month of April scoring 17 and 19 points against the Atléticos de San Germán and Piratas de Quebradillas. On May 2, 2009, Vassallo scored 26 points and captured 7 rebounds in a game versus the Leones de Ponce, before taking a hiatus of three weeks while he participated in NBA training camps. Upon returning, he scored 34 points and recovered 7 rebounds in his first game. On May 30, 2009, Vassallo scored 53 points versus the Indios de Mayagüez, recording the highest number of points in his life and tying the career-high of his father's BSN career. He closed this week scoring 36 points and 9 rebounds against Ponce. From June 10–16, Vassallo scored 30, 14,18 and 26 points in games against the Mets de Guaynabo, Mayagüez, Bayamón and Carolina, capturing 32 rebounds.

On April 21, 2016, Ledo signed with Santeros de Aguada of the Puerto Rican League. Two days later he made his debut for Santeros in an 80–79 loss to the Atléticos de San Germán, recording 21 points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 28 minutes. On May 12, he was waived by Santeros. On August 12, 2016, Ledo signed with Turkish BSL club Yeşilgiresun Belediye for the 2016–17 Basketbol Süper Ligi season.
