An efficient system of highways, flyovers, ringroads and underpasses serve the city, and allow for the transport of goods and vehicles. The roads are not always well-maintained however, and often have incorrect, poorly visible or no road markings, as well as potholes in some roads and inner city streets.
Both branches begin in Aarau south of the SBB railway station. There is a separate station called Aarau WSB with an own station building and three passenger tracks. The Wynental branch runs on the track of the former Swiss National Railway between Aarau and Suhr and underpasses the SBB railway line Lenzburg-Zofingen just before the station Suhr. It then follows the main road to Gränichen.
The Jeliana Bridge connects Jeliana with the city centre and old town. Benghazi is a transport hub in Eastern Libya and is an important city on the northern coastal road that crosses the country. An efficiently designed system of roads, bridges and underpasses cover Benghazi, however traffic jams and poorly maintained streets are not uncommon. A microbus system covers many areas of the city and has its base in Al-Funduq.
The town is located along the A43, A427, A6003 and is from the A14 at Kettering. Corby lies within two hours' drive of four international airports: Birmingham, Luton, Stansted and East Midlands. Being a new town, Corby's road network is different from that of older towns. There are several dual carriageways, most of the principal roads have wide reservations and high speed limits and pedestrian crossings over them are often underpasses.
TransPeshawar, a bus rapid transit system, is currently under construction with assistance from the Asian Development Bank. The line will stretch from Chamkani in the east, to Hayatabad in the west to replace Peshawar's current chaotic, dilapidated, and inadequate transportation system. The system will have 31 stations and will be mostly at grade, with four kilometres of elevated sections. The system will also contain 3.5 kilometres of underpasses.
Initially, a site in the Haller district (on the road to Schwäbisch Hall) was considered but eventually it was decided to build the station directly to the west of central Crailsheim in the Siechenäcker area. As is still clearly visible, the station has an exact north-south orientation. Worthingtonstrasse (formerly Kronprinzstraße), the Alte Postweg, and some other streets were rerouted. Underpasses were built for the roads to Roßfeld and to Altenmünster.
The T-way follows Old Windsor Road north from Westmead Hospital. At Memorial Avenue, Kellyville, the route branches, with one branch continuing north along Old Windsor and Windsor roads to Rouse Hill Town Centre and the other heading west along Sunnyholt Road to Blacktown. The alignment includes 10 new bridges and two new underpasses. Three of the T-way's 24 route- kilometres are bus lanes on existing roads.
Pullach station is located at Bahnhofstrasse 10 in the municipality of Pullach between federal highway 11 and the high banks of the Isar River. At both ends of the station there are level crossings; the level crossing barriers are to be renewed and fully automated in April 2013. Two underpasses were planned years ago, but these have been abandoned as creating too large an impact on the local landscape.
A special events entrance at the western end is opened during events at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne Park and AAMI Park. Tram route 70 runs past Richmond station along Swan Street. Punt Road underpasses directly under the station via a major interchange with Swan Street and Brunton Avenue. In 2025, Pakenham and Cranbourne lines will cease stopping at Richmond station as part of the new Metro Tunnel Project.
The north end of the Mainland section of the Venetian Waterway Park is at E Venice Avenue, right under its ICW bridge (This point is also the southern trailhead of the Legacy Trail). It heads south following the ICW and underpasses the Circus Bridge. From there it continues to head south parallel to the ICW all the way until ends at its southern trailhead in the Shamrock Park & Nature Center.
Cleave spent his early childhood in West Africa, which he credits for having partially inspired The Other Hand. Further inspiration came from Cleaves's temporary employment while studying experimental psychology at the University of Oxford. During the summer, Cleave painted underpasses, gardened and picked up litter, and hoped to use this experience to write a book. His final job was at Campsfield House in Oxfordshire, an immigration detention centre.
Three bridges are being built over the Bou Regreg, Yoem and Akkrach rivers or streams. Apart from that a total of 38 structures are projected: 14 overpasses, 16 underpasses, 5 road-tunnels (5×5 metre) and two pedestrian crossings. There will be one single toll-barrier. Some 15 million cubic metres (m3) of earth will be moved during the construction: 7 million m3 cuttings and 8 million m3 embankments.

Preliminary work involved erecting light rail bridges over Southeast Johnson Creek Boulevard and Southeast Harold Street, and excavating light rail underpasses below Southeast Stark and Washington streets. Crews were at work along the , two- station segment within Clackamas County by November 2007. The line was over 70 percent complete by November 2008, with tracks laid from Gateway Transit Center to . TriMet ordered 22 Siemens S70 cars to serve the expansion.
The passenger building is made up of three sections. The main one (where there are guest services for travellers and the local station master) is on two floors, while the other two sections are single storey. Next to the passenger building is a small one-storey structure that houses the public conveniences. The station yard is composed of five through tracks, with platforms connected by two pedestrian underpasses.
The playground opened in 2007. Nearby the playground is a pavilion and picnic area with outdoor grills. The eastern section of the park is also connected through trails and underpasses to the adjacent Rock Manor Golf Course. The public golf course, owned by the city of Wilmington, was first opened in 1921 and was named after the Rock Manor estate where Alfred du Pont stayed while Nemours was being built.
Many British, German, Ukrainian and Chinese families took up residence. In 1910, a pedestrian walkway was built over the train tracks at 20th Street so the public could safely cross the tracks on foot. The overhead wire was replaced with a third rail; this required all four level crossings, at Makrellbekken, Hovseter, Eiksmarka and Ekraveien, to be replaced. In the former three, the track was sunk under the level of the road, requiring several hundred meters of the line to be rebuilt. The Reichsbahn planned to replace the level crossings between the Ring and Südringspitzkehre with over- and underpasses together with the building of the north-south S-Bahn line in the late 1930s, but this was omitted as one of many planned changes after the proclamation of Hitler's Welthauptstadt Germania on 30 January 1937. In World War II, the Potsdamer and Anhalter stations were heavily bombed; the Südringspitzkehre was closed in 1944 and was never reopened.

Thus the A6 motorway has , or 21% of the route, located within such structures. The Rijeka–Zagreb motorway has a total of 24 viaducts, 13 tunnels, 5 bridges, 45 underpasses, and 26 flyovers. All of the bridges, viaducts, and tunnels on the A6 motorway have at least two driving lanes in each direction. Podvugleš Tunnel The longest tunnel on the A6 motorway route is the Tuhobić Tunnel, located on the Oštrovica–Vrata section.
Lake Shore Drive runs both north-south and east-west. Other streets in Chicago that run both north-south and east-west include Wacker Drive, Sheridan Road, and Hyde Park Blvd. The Lakefront Trail, a multi-use trail, parallels Lake Shore Drive on the east side for most of its length. Pedestrians can access the lake at several points along Lake Shore Drive through underpasses that connect the lake with the rest of the city.
This extensive transportation, flood control and park complex, is the new hub of Lincoln's trails. A trail lines the Antelope Creek flood control channel from Military Road on the north to an extension connection of the Billy Wolff Trail on the South. The Parkway trails and connections to other trails, are made possible by a series of underpasses and bridges. The MoPac Trail intersects the Antelope Valley Project trail between W and Y Streets.
Connected to the Bill Wolff Trail, the Rock Island Trail extends from Antelope Park, South to Wilderness Park. Through a series of underpasses and bridges, e.g. Highway 2 and South 14th bridges, the trail runs virtually uninterrupted by streets and highways. There is a crossing at Calvert Street (little auto traffic), another on Essex Road (even less auto traffic), and finally a crossing at Old Cheney Road (pretty busy), near 14th Street.
The S$4 million swimming lagoon was opened in May 1976, along with refreshment and sanitation facilities. Upon its opening, the lagoon immediately became popular with swimmers and picnickers, with over 70,000 people visiting in the first week. To provide access between the park and nearby areas, six underpasses were constructed at a cost of S$1 million. In January 1977, plans to build a aquatic centre to complement the lagoon were announced.
The station consists of three large buildings, joined together by two lower wings. The main building, which includes the ticket office, is characterized by high pillars topped by an arch with windows, and large vertical windows. Its interior is dominated by its impressive ticket office, decorated with marble and stucco, with lateral branching corridors and entrances to the platforms. Several of the main boulevards have been equipped with interchanges, overpasses and underpasses, allowing for sections of controlled-access highways, but considering that even the city's beltway does not entirely circle the city, the roads are generally limited-access. Intense webs of electrical and telephone lines above the streets are a common sight in the capital, and in virtually all Honduran cities, since implementation of underground utility lines has only been adopted in recent years.
This project will reduce congestion in Ashram-Badarpur-Faridabad- Ballabhgarh region. This Expressway will have three lane service roads on either sides for about 29 km, 7.350 km of elevated section with two level crossings at four locations of the metro line, 18 new underpasses, and nine interchanges with improved junctions. The cost of project is nearly 3580 crore. This Expressway is part of Delhi pollution check plan to tackle high air pollution in Delhi.
The properties have suffered from a lack of long-term care. Since TfL took responsibility for the road, land for future schemes has been left dormant, resulting in urban decay with derelict properties. Compulsorily purchased properties were let out to various short-term tenants, which led to them housing prostitutes and migrant workers living in increasing squalor. Pedestrians have become too frightened to use underpasses along the road, particularly to access North Middlesex Hospital.
Tunnel portals In the 1960s and 1970s, some underpasses were created to allow pedestrians to safely cross the street. One of them was artistically designed in 1992 by the Frankfurt architect Christoph Mäckler under the title "subway underpass". The underpass is clad with bricks, which results in a different surface appearance depending on the location. The tunnel ramp on Humser Straße is designed so that the route can continue without problems in the tunnel.
The station is owned and operated by the Swiss Federal Railways. It contains four tracks, arranged with flanking side platforms and a central island platform. The main station buildings are on the platform on the city centre side of the station, but there is also access from the Besso side of the station to the adjacent platform. On the WEH end, the project comprises of elevated road, a tunnel with ramps measuring , three vehicular underpasses each at , and of six-lane at-grade roadway. The plan also includes a pedestrian underpass on the WEH. The road will also have four ramps measuring on the airport end. The road reduces travel time from the highway to the airport to five minutes from the 30 to 45 minutes it previously took.
The MCC Line later underpasses the southern lanes of Third Ring Road, thus ending its purpose as a median strip. There is also a ramp on the beltway leading to Trofimova Street. The Third Ring Road then forms an interchange with Avtozavodskaya Street and then intersects with Leninskaya Sloboda Street and the southern portion of Avtozavodskaya Street. The beltway later overpasses the Moskva River on the Avtozavodskii Bridge, leading the beltway to the Donskoy District.
Greenbelt is laid out as a crescent of "superblocks" containing two rows of frame or concrete block multi-family dwellings. Houses are linked by footpaths and are grouped around central service courts, with the public sides facing the communal "garden" space. A central town common includes the original commercial district, community center and school, linked to the residential areas by pedestrian underpasses. A recreation area, lake, and allotment gardens are located beyond the common.
Carbrain is supposed to have the Town Centre as its focus, so there was thought to be no need for serious scale entertainment or grocery shops. Underpasses between Glenhove and Torbrex Roads Carbrain was split into two sections: North and South. North Carbrain, which was built first, included Glenhove Road, Torbrex Road, Stonylee Road, Craigyburn Road, Beechwood Road and Glenacre Road. North Carbrain is within five minutes walking distance from the Town Centre, health centre and sports centre.
The station was closed for passenger trains on 2 March 1987, although it remained in use as a passing loop. The station received automatic train stop on 18 July 1990. Three new underpasses for road traffic were built under the line at the station in 1991. Since 2012 a new high-speed section of the Vestfold Line is being built between Porsgrunn and Farriseidet, and thus Eidanger Station will in the future only be located on the Brevik Line.

In a decision from the Land Consolidation Court in September 2008, the land owners were giver permission to remove five underpasses between Sannidal and Neslandsvatn, located at Tveitereidvegen, one north of it, at Tveitereidsbukta, at Saga and at Øygardsmyra. The removal would be at the cost of the forest owners. This permanently terminated any possibilities of running draisines on the line. In 2009, Syklistenes Landsforening stated that they wanted the line to be converted to a bicycle path.
The mountainous topography in Sauerland meant that the plans included large tunnels, bridges and underpasses, such as on the ridge between the Verse and the Ahe valleys, where a 650 metre long-tunnel was planned. Another 300 metre- long tunnel would have run in Herscheid from Helle to below the shooting range. A total of four tunnels were planned with a total length of 2,175 metres. The estimated cost for the tunnels amounted to 1.84 million marks.
Building work began again in January 2014, beginning by demolishing the temporary urban park which had occupied part of the site since 2010. In the 1950s and 1960s, much of central Bradford was redeveloped to the design of Stanley Wardley. This included a new main road, Petergate, linking a remodelled Forster Square to Leeds Road at Eastbrook Well roundabout. Part of the gardens remained as a walled enclave in a busy traffic roundabout, accessible to pedestrians only by underpasses.
Vehicle-bear collisions are a threat to regional populations and the top known cause of death for Florida black bears. Since 2012, when accelerating habitat modifications began in key locations, over 230 bears have been killed each year on roadways statewide. The Florida Department of Transportation partnered with the FWC to examine the effects of roads on bear populations across the state. As a result, over 90 bear crossing signs and numerous wildlife underpasses are found statewide.
In south-central and northeastern Maine, precipitation totals between flooded basements, underpasses, and low-lying roads, resulting in traffic being delayed by detours. Strong winds were also observed in eastern Massachusetts, with the strongest wind gust being in Chatham. Despite gale and storm force wind gusts in eastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire, damage was minimal and consisted mainly of downed trees and isolated power outages. Some features, such as roads with street intersections or overpasses and underpasses, should be handled differently from other types of features. ArcGIS is built around a geodatabase, which uses an object-relational database approach for storing spatial data. A geodatabase is a "container" for holding datasets, tying together the spatial features with attributes. The geodatabase can also contain topology information, and can model behavior of features, such as road intersections, with rules on how features relate to one another.
There is a beach at 31st Street, a skatepark at 34th Street, a stone beach at 49th Street, and a model boat pond at 51st Street in Hyde Park. The park ends with a flourish at Promontory Point at 55th Street. Footbridges and underpasses provide access to the park over the barriers of the train tracks and Lake Shore Drive. A section of the Chicago Lakefront Trail bicycle and jogging path runs the length of the park.
The same year, an interchange in Suffern opened providing access to the newly opened New Jersey portion of I-287. In 1997, tolls for cars were eliminated at the Spring Valley toll plaza, with tolls remaining for trucks and other commercial vehicles. The I-87/I-287 interchange split near Tarrytown began a $187 million reconstruction in 2001 in order to add additional lanes and rebuild overpasses and underpasses. Reconstruction in this area was completed in May 2004.
Precast concrete transportation products are used in the construction, safety, and site protection of road, airport, and railroad transportation systems. Products include: box culverts, 3-sided culverts, bridge systems, railroad crossings, railroad ties, sound walls/barriers, Jersey barriers, tunnel segments, concrete barriers, TVCBs, central reservation barriers, bollards, and other transportation products. Precast concrete can also be used to make underpasses, surface-passes, and pedestrian subways. Precast concrete is also used for the rail ways of some rubber-tyred metros.
The cost of developing this expressway has been revised several times since it was first proposed. Originally estimated at Rs 5.1 billion, as of March 2006 it is expected to cost Rs 8 billion once completed. It will be a 16.5 km 8 lane expressway that will consist of four lanes on both sides, with two interchanges, five overpasses and five underpasses. Moreover, two lanes each will be constructed on either bank of the Lyari River.
NY 164 westbound at its terminus in Patterson at NY 311 In the west, NY 164 splits off from NY 311 a short distance east of I-84. It crosses under the Metro North tracks three times, including two one-lane underpasses with limited sight to the other side. It passes along the northern base of a small mountain and turns slightly southward. The highway turns due eastward and intersects with County Route 64 in the hamlet of Towners.
These variations in the tyre circumference can be due to wear or variations in tyre pressure due to variations in speed, payload, or ambient temperature. Other measurement errors are accumulated when the vehicle navigates gradual curves that inertial sensors (e.g. gyroscopes and/or accelerometers) are not sensitive enough to detect or due to electromagnetic influences on magnetic flux compasses (e.g., from passing under power lines or when travelling across a steel bridge) and through underpasses and road tunnels.
Southbound in Agawam, Massachusetts Route 159 officially begins at the Hartford-Windsor town line as Windsor Avenue, near an interchange with I-91. In Windsor, it underpasses I-291, with access to and from the east provided by Deerfield Road. Almost immediately, it meets the eastern end of Route 218. After passing the east end of Route 178, Route 159 enters the center of Windsor, passing the town green before intersecting the southern end of Route 75.
Pura Ramos The Tarlac–Pangasinan–La Union Expressway starts in Tarlac City as a physical extension of the Subic–Clark–Tarlac Expressway. The expressway passes through the municipalities of Victoria, Pura, Ramos, and Anao. Significant portions of the expressway in Tarlac are built on raised land or embankments, and existing roads cross through underpasses built on cuts on the embankment. The road enters Cuyapo in Nueva Ecija without any major junction, before entering Pangasinan, at the municipality of Rosales.
The route stretches Project details from Silivri, on the European side, to Akyazı on the Asian side. Connections to the O-4 as well as both the Bosphorus and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges will be built as the Northern Marmara Motorway will bypass Istanbul to the north. Up to 2016, the only section under construction was the section from Odayeri to Paşaköy. In this section, 14 tunnels, 61 viaducts, 45 underpasses, and 63 overpasses will be constructed.
The Murray, East Kilbride East Kilbride is divided into a number of smaller neighbourhoods bordered by main through- roads. Part of the new town design was that each of these would be a self- contained entity, with local shops and primary schools, and accessed safely via paths and underpasses separate from main roads. This is true for the original areas of the town but newer developments, such as Stewartfield, Lindsayfield and Mossneuk do not adhere to this model.
Since it was raised onto an embankment with an average height over the flanking lands of 5 m in the latter half of the 20th century, it has been a conspicuous barrier running across the Upper Rhine Plain to the Palatinate Forest, pierced only by a few underpasses. Just how much the roadway influences the local climate and whether, for example, it can lead to the formation of lakes of cold air has never been systematically investigated.
The beltway then intersects Bashilovskaya Street, Raskovoy Street, Nizhny Maslovskiy Driveway, Vyatskaya Street, and Pravdy Street. The Third Ring Road then interchanges with Butyrskaya Street-Novoslobodskaya Street with a hybrid folded parclo diamond interchange, coming into the Maryina Roshcha District. The beltway later intersects Savelovskiy Driveway, Tikhvinskaya Street, Dvintsev Street, Novosushchevskaya Street, and Vysheslavtsev Lane. The Third Ring Road later underpasses both Sheremetyevo Street-Oktyabrskaya Street with a diamond interchange and intersects Maryinoy Roshschi Street a few meters east.
According to one legend, there was an underpass earlier from the territory of modern trolleybus management which is located down the street from Aleksandrovska to port. 15 new bus transfer terminals were added to integrate commuter service with the citywide bus service ESHOT. All grade crossings were converted to overpasses or underpasses with the exception of 7 crossings that were operational when service began. Today, only 3 remain and will be removed in the near future. Two railway tunnels were built in Karşıyaka and Şirinyer with a total of 4 underground stations and the railway's former right of way were converted into parks.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike and Bangalore Development Authority have planned a series of flyovers and underpasses to make this arterial road signal free. The project is a part of the BETL (Bangalore Elevated Tollways Ltd), project as part of the National Highways Development Project and the Elevated Highways Project. It was initiated in early 2006, and was inaugurated on 22 January 2010. It starts from Bomanahalli after the Central Silk Board flyover and goes on up to Electronics City.
The station was opened on 18 April 1868, upon the inauguration of the Casalduni–Benevento section of the Naples–Foggia railway. On 1 August 1868, the station became a through station, when the next section of the Naples–Foggia railway was completed, between Benevento and Montecalvo Irpino. Over the years, several other lines converged on the station. During its life, the station has undergone several changes, such as the construction of a new passenger building, and the restructuring of its underpasses.
Xi'an has many areas that are easily accessible on foot. In many commercial, residential, educational zones in the city, especially in the shopping and entertainment districts around the Bell Tower, underpasses and overpasses have been built for the safety and convenience of pedestrians. Electric bikes are popular among students and offer easy transportation in and around the city for many residents. A bicycle-sharing network started operating in 2013 and today has 52,000 bikes, used by over 200,000 people per day.

The Tram was produced from 1942, however it was only in service for around 10 years since fierce competition from bus travel in Buenos Aires meant that there was less demand for high capacity trams of this kind. During its time in service, it was limited to lines that ran near the centre of the city since its great height meant that it was unsuitable for safe clearance under certain bridges, tunnels and underpasses.
These would be closed even longer than before by an upgrade to four tracks carrying more traffic. The area east of the line is also planned for a large residential area, which would then also be connected via the crossings. Possible solutions are the relocation of part of the track in a tunnel or the construction of road bridges and underpasses in the area. Another aspect is the impact of noise on the neighbourhood, which therefore has demanded a tunnel.
The work was carried out by Iorio Vivarelli. On the Lungotevere lay also another monument, dedicated to the patriot Angelo Brunetti (Ciceruacchio), moved elsewhere in 1959 during the construction of vehicular underpasses between the Passeggiata di Ripetta and Lungotevere in Augusta. Near the Lungotevere was built a port, dedicated to Francesco de Pinedo, along the lines of the porto di Ripetta, destroyed in the late nineteenth century. One can access the airport from the Lungotevere via a series of ramps and stairways.
Dozens of bridges experienced total collapse under the force of swollen rivers and creeks. In Kingston, many underpasses became totally inundated as the prolonged rain overwhelmed storm drains; the flooding that followed left many of the city's roads impassable. Destruction to the infrastructure was especially extensive in Westmoreland, Saint Elizabeth, and Hanover parishes, though overall, 543 of the island's principle roads sustained at least some degree of damage. The total costs linked to the infrastructure neared J$20 billion (US$235.4 million).
The SGR passes through the transportation corridor between Tsavo East National Park and Tsavo West National Park, which is also host to the Nairobi–Mombasa Road and the Uganda Railway. Because the road and metre-gauge railway were built at ground level, collisions with wildlife can occur. Viaducts and embankments elevate the SGR above ground level, with underpasses allowing wildlife to pass safely underneath. Passenger trains run between Mombasa Terminus in Miritini and Nairobi Terminus in Syokimau, near the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
Boulder, well known for its bicycle culture, boasts hundreds of miles of bicycle-pedestrian paths, lanes, and routes that interconnect to create a renowned network of bikeways usable year- round. Boulder has 74 bike and pedestrian underpasses that facilitate safer and uninterrupted travel throughout much of the city. The city offers a route- finding website that allows users to map personalized bike routes around the city. The headquarters of the free and non-obligatory hospitality exchange network Warm Showers is based in Boulder.
Along with recent efforts aimed at infrastructure rehabilitation, the recent adoption of safety measures by Vietnam Railways has led to a decline in railway accidents. These measures include: public awareness campaigns on railway safety in the media; construction of fences and safety barriers at critical level crossings in major cities; mobilization of volunteers for traffic control at train stations and level crossings, especially during holiday seasons; the installation of additional auto-signal systems; and the construction of flyovers and underpasses to redirect traffic.
The trail follows the Little Econlockhatchee River, past Blanchard Park, and under two underpasses (at Dead Road and at Econlockhatchee Trail). Two road crossing are at Harrell Road and Goldenrod Road as the trail continues to its western terminus at Forsyth Road. Even with the level of industrialization and commercialization, Jankomir does have pockets of family houses.

The Magazine in 2009 with road alterations and repairs to the building underway. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike and Bangalore Development Authority have planned a series of flyovers and underpasses to make this arterial road signal free.
There are two intersections with Polikarpova Street and Begovaya Street of which they intersect with the beltway and some ramps of the interchange. The beltway later intersects with Begovaya Lane, Botkinskiy Driveway, and Proyektiruemyy Driveway. The Third Ring Road then underpasses the 12-lane Leningradsky Avenue with a variant diamond interchange that includes a few overpasses. The beltway then intersects Petrovsko Razumovskiy Driveway and overpasses Nizhnyaya Maslovka Street, in which the street served as a ramp, bordering the Savyolovsky District in the north.
Track 1 is accessed by passenger from the platform at the rear of the passenger building. The city's road network is generally well designed. An efficient system of highways, flyovers, ringroads and underpasses serve the city, and allow for the transport of goods and vehicles. In total in order for this project to be completed it "will require the construction of 24 bridges, 1 viaduct over the lagoon, 34 pedestrian footbridges and 8 underpasses." The T4 line, even more than the T1 line, corresponds to a "light rail standards" line, in that its at-grade stations are made up of fortified platforms in the central median of the road, which allows for flat run-starts. The Ostbahn company built its own terminus in 1859 during the construction of the line to Hersbruck, east of the existing one, which was linked in 1876 with the western one by a through station. Felidae's scientific research projects are based in field locations around the globe. The Bay Area Puma Project in Northern California is the first comprehensive study of mountain lions in the San Francisco Bay Area. A primary goal of this study is to determine priority locations for wildlife overpasses and underpasses to maintain connectivity for the region's wildlife populations. In addition, the study uses GPS collars equipped with accelerometers to record detailed information on mountain lion movements that will reveal new insights into their behavior and physiology.
A41 west of Hemel Hempstead at its junction with the A414 North of the M25, the road is a near motorway standard "A" road with all junctions grade-separated via underpasses or flyovers, but curves and gradients a little steeper. There are no hard shoulders but frequent lay-bys. It climbs through the Chiltern Hills then descends into the valley of the River Bulbourne crossing water meadows just outside Hemel Hempstead at Boxmoor. There are grade-separated junctions with the A414, A4251 and A416.
Even after the service launch of the metro bus service, the issues regarding the drainage of rainwater still remained unfinished resulting in the inundation of the underground bus stations during monsoon rains. However, rainfall in the area was above normal throughout the year resulting in greater delay during construction. The people of Pawtucket feared the construction of I-95 as early as 1949. Editions of the Pawtucket Times and The Providence Journal in 1949 recall how neighbors in the Woodlawn section of Pawtucket feared the construction of the highway. According to Rhode Island Department of Transportation blueprints, the highway was originally planned for the west side of Pawtucket, avoiding the Pawtucket River. The highway was originally designed to be constructed east of the New York–New Haven railroad tracks and create underpasses on Mineral Spring Avenue, Broad Street, and Dexter Street.
Gardenvale railway station is located on the Sandringham line in Victoria, Australia, and serves the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Brighton. Wildlife-collision mitigation systems vary in complexity, cost and design. A number of studies indicate a high success rate when mitigation measures are designed with target species in mind, rather than being applied broadly to a region. Other studies indicate the highest rate of success when several mitigation measures, such as crossing structures and fencing, are used in conjunction. The Teton County Wildlife Crossing Master Plan evaluates and recommends the site-specific use of warning signs and animal-detection systems, speed management, wildlife fencing, wildlife crossings (overpasses and underpasses), and multiple-use structures.

University Drive veers East and the path and creek continue due North, with the wetlands giving way to a concrete-bottom storm drain. The path passes under Main Street and Alton Parkway, each of which includes an access ramp. Ultimately the path reaches a fork in the creek near Colonel Barber park, which has excellent public restrooms and water available. The path crosses to the opposite side on a bridge and continues on the Eastern branch of the creek, leading under more underpasses with street access at Harvard Avenue and Culver Drive.

Traveling into the city from Avcılar requires winding up onto this highway from Avcılar's network of bridges and narrow underpasses. Apartments in the center of Avcılar near the sea are expensive . The first of the new Siemens SD-160 light rail vehicle train cars for the new extension were shipped by rail from Florin, California, on April 24, 2008, arriving in Edmonton on May 9, 2008 (37 vehicles in total). The LRT expansion was developed entirely at surface level with several underpasses after 2006, one at Belgravia Road and the other under 111 Street south of 61 Avenue. A short busway has been constructed from the South Campus station roughly parallel to Belgravia Road in conjunction with the South LRT expansion.

There are 3 major bridges along the route along the Haro, Indus and Kabul rivers, 18 flyovers, 27 small bridges, 137 underpasses and 571 culverts.
In the initial construction, the junctions were at grade separation. Although reconstruction at the Nicosia end has obliterated any evidence of this, drivers can still see the filter lanes at junction 17. The motorway was opened in stages, with the final stage (Kornos to Kophinou) completed in October 1984, while upgrades within the city of Limassol were completed in summer 2008. These upgrades included the Polemidia and Troödos junction, Agia Filaxis Junction, Agios Athanasios junction, Linopetra junction, and Germasogeia junction, and involved the replacement of a series of roundabouts with flyovers or underpasses.
The A1 is dual carriageway south from Sprucefield tbut some junctions remain relatively low specification as they necessitate right-turning movements across the central reservation. The busier junctions have been improved by the provision of bridges or underpasses. A flyover was constructed at the busy Rathfriland Road junction in Banbridge and an underpass at the very dangerous Hillsborough road junction in Dromore was completed in June 2005. The line begins in North Cambridge west of the Sherman Street at-grade crossing. The branch line proceeds west, and then south, where it has at-grade crossings at New Street, Concord Avenue, and the entrance road to the Walter J. Sullivan Water Treatment Facility at the Fresh Pond reservoir. From there, the line proceeds to several underpasses, namely one below a second road into the Fresh Pond reservation, one at Huron Avenue, and one at Mount Auburn Street, where it then crosses the town boundary of Watertown.
It is commonly referred to as Black Friday due both to its aberrant characteristics and the emotional shock it generated. Then-mayor Laurence Decore cited the community's response to the tornado as evidence that Edmonton was a "city of champions," which later became an unofficial slogan of the city. A massive cluster of thunderstorms occurred on July 11, 2004, with large hail and over of rain reported within an hour in many places. This "1-in-200 year event" flooded major intersections and underpasses and damaged both residential and commercial properties.

Pennsylvania Route 880 (PA 880) is a state highway located in Centre, Clinton, and Lycoming Counties in Pennsylvania. The southern terminus is at PA 192 in Miles Township. The northern terminus is at PA 44 in Limestone Township Though it does not have a direct junction with Interstate 80, it underpasses the highway in Carroll and drivers can enter I-80 one mile (1.6 km) east by turning left onto East Valley Road. South of this intersection, PA 880 is known as East Valley Road until Loganton, where it becomes Main Street.
Only the reopening of a second track between Dresden-Neustadt and Radebeul Ost in September 1964 eased the situation on that line. All four tracks over the Marienbrücke towards the Hauptbahnhof were returned to operation in October 1956\. On the northeastern approaches to the station important track connections, overpasses and underpasses are still missing, so that the station has not yet achieved its original capacity. German Unity Transport Project (Verkehrsprojekte Deutsche Einheit) No. 9 is a continuing project designed to eliminate these bottlenecks among other things and to accelerate traffic.
In 1963 the old entrance building of the station was demolished, underpasses for the U-Bahn tracks and also a pedestrian subway were built under Langenhorner Chaussee, and also the western train depot was constructed. Cupertino has completed an approximately section of trail that runs north along the creek from McClellan Road to Stevens Creek Blvd., passing the 4-H farm and community gardens in McClellan Ranch Park nature preserve, and the Blackberry Farm Park.Stevens Creek Trail Map, City of Cupertino The trail is entirely separated from vehicular traffic, using numerous overcrossings and underpasses.
The asphalt-paved bike path is up to wide, divided into two lanes so cyclists may ride abreast in many portions, adjacent to a hiking & riding trail. Many intersections with local streets are grade separated with bridges or underpasses making it a Class I bicycle facility. Cyclists must yield to pedestrians and runners (who are considered pedestrians by the law) at all times. As of 2006, of the path were complete; when finished, in conjunction with the equestrian trail, the bikeway is expected to bridge three counties, touching on 17 cities and two national forests.
It lies at the intersection of the same street with the Ludwig-Landmann-Straße, opens up the adjacent residential areas of Hausen and Rödelheim and offers the possibility to change bus line 34. The bus stop was the first to be rebuilt according to barrier- free guidelines. The former ground-level platforms were replaced by elevated platforms and built traffic-light pedestrian crossings instead of underpasses. In contrast to the previous two stations, the underpass could no longer be connected to the platforms because the new ramps to the pedestrian crossing are located above.
The Milton Keynes redway system (locally known as Redways) is an over network of shared use paths for cyclists and pedestrians in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England. It is generally surfaced with red tarmac, and criss- crosses most of MK. A Redway runs along the disused track bed of the former Wolverton to Newport Pagnell Line. Some of these Redways run next to the grid roads and local roads, with underpasses or bridges where they intersect major roads. Others run through park land and along the floodplain of the Great Ouse and its tributaries.
Construction of the second stage of the project from Mirigama to Katugastota, will also be a four-lane divided carriageway for a length of , with thirty overpasses and five underpasses. Interchanges are proposed at Dewalegama, Rambukkana, Hetharaliyadda and Hedeniya. The tentative cost of construction for Phase Two is Rs. 90.0bn. Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe launched the construction of the expressway by laying a foundation stone in February 2017 for this Phase and will be completed in 2021 This Phase will be totally completed by local construction companies for the 1st time in Sri Lanka.
Several parts of the approach to the pass feature large fences that prevent wildlife from crossing the freeway and direct the animals to one of several underpasses. At least one underpass is located along a natural migratory path and has been landscaped to encourage deer to cross. The highway descends to Dillon Reservoir, near the town of Frisco, and begins one final ascent to the Eisenhower Tunnel, where the freeway crosses the Continental Divide. At the time of dedication, this tunnel was the highest vehicular tunnel in the world, at .
Many of the busy roundabouts in East Kilbride feature underpasses which allow pedestrians and cyclists safe access across roads. On 19 June 2009, National Cycling Route 756, connecting East Kilbride and Rutherglen with the City Boundary, was opened. In November 2007, South Lanarkshire Council published three cycle routes, named the "East Kilbride Cycle Network" which start at the East Kilbride Shopping Centre in the centre of the town and are signposted. Route One is route is to Strathaven, via Newlandsmuir; Route Two to St. Leonard's Shopping Centre, and Route Three is to Calderglen Country Park.
The station building was a brick chalet construction, which was far more attractive than the 1970s concrete buildings seen at many other stations on the line. Just to the east of the station, the local road passes over the railway on a bridge and there is a footpath underneath. In line with the local council policy of decorating all pedestrian underpasses, they commissioned two railway-themed murals for the overbridge walls in 1989. On the north wall is a Great Western scene and on the south wall, a Southern railway scene.
In the 1990s, the station was rebuilt and provided with platforms on the outsides of the tracks. In a second stage, the line was upgraded to a maximum speed of 230 km/h and all level crossings were removed and replaced by overpasses or underpasses. The crossing of the former federal highway in the station area was completely closed, but cyclists and pedestrians can use the platform tunnel. Today (2014) Karstädt Station is served by RE 2 every two hours from Cottbus via Berlin, Wittenberge and Karstädt to Ludwiglust, Schwerin and Wismar.
In the early 1950s, the government planned to protect essential communications by building a series of hardened underground telephone exchanges. Construction of the Anchor exchange in Birmingham started in 1953 with a cover story that a new underground rail network was being built. Work progressed until 1956 when the public were told the project was no longer economic; instead Birmingham got its underpasses through the city to help relieve congestion. An underground exchange and tunnel system 100 ft below Newhall Street had been completed at a cost £4 million.
In 2011, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike announced that the road would be widened in several places while underpasses and flyovers would be built at major junctions. The Government of Karnataka cleared the second phase of Namma Metro, which proposes a third line from Gottigere to Nagavara via the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B). The project was designed to significantly reduce the traffic load on Bannerghatta Road. Under the upgrade plans, the road was to be widened to 45 metres from 20–25 metres at an estimated cost of .
In countries following the Vienna convention, the motorway qualification implies that walking and parking are forbidden, and they are reserved for the use of motorized vehicles only. A controlled-access highway provides an unhindered flow of traffic, with no traffic signals, intersections or property access. They are free of any at-grade crossings with other roads, railways, or pedestrian paths, which are instead carried by overpasses and underpasses. Entrances and exits to the highway are provided at interchanges by slip roads (ramps), which allow for speed changes between the highway and arterials and collector roads.
Later, the beltway overpasses Rizhskaya Place, Mira Avenue, Bolshaya Pereyaslavskaya Street several railways near the Riga Railway Station, and Sokolnicheskiy Val Street, thus leading it into the Basmanny District. The Third Ring Road later intersects Rybinskaya Street, underpasses Lobachika Street and Mitkovskaya railway with a tunnel, and overpasses Rusakovskaya Avenue-Krasnoprudnaya Street with a diamond interchange and another railway. The beltway then intersects with Novaya Perevedenovskaya Street and goes into the Lefortovo Tunnel, but not without a folded diamond interchange with Bakuninskaya Street. This ends the limited-access highway section of the Third Ring Road.
The Third Ring Road then turns southwest, over passing and under passing a few railroads, and forming a hybrid interchange with Ostapovskiy Thoroughfare and Volgogradskiy Avenue. The beltway then touches southeastern part of the Moscow Central Circle (MCC) line, also known as Line 14, of the Moscow Metro, in the south. Later, the Third Ring Road forms a hybrid interchange with Yuzhnoportovaya Street and the beltway splits to make the MCC line as a median strip. The beltway then underpasses the Velozavodskaya Street, leading to the Danilovsky District.
The A7 will be the most expensive road project ever being held by the Republic of Cyprus, with a 447 million Euros price tag. Plans include 3 tunnels 7 bridges, 8 grade separated interchanges and 25 underpasses. The scheme is projected to take 4,5 years to complete and it will branch off the A6 right after the Anatoliko Industrial zone exit and bear North. It will travel East of Armou and Marathounta, west of "Minthis Hills" Golf Resort, and Stroumpi where it will meet the current B7 road and follow the current path.
A week later, his successor, Gordon R. Young, suggested that the then- under construction freeway should be named for him, in honor of his leadership in constructing many highway and bridges, including the new Chain Bridge; the Dupont, Scott, and Thomas Circle underpasses; the Fourteenth Street Bridge; the Calvert Street Bridge; and the Klingle Street Bridge. The Commissioners of the District of Columbia approved naming the freeway after Whitehurst. The Whitehurst Freeway opened on October 8, 1949. Whitehurst's granddaughter Maria cut the ceremonial ribbon during the opening ceremonies.
A redevelopment project that took place between 1986 and 1987 featured the construction of the Marriott Convention Hotel which caused the removal of several original structures in Oceanfront Park. The original structures that were demolished included the small rectangular pavilions, octagonal kiosks, bathhouse, coquina rock veneered shops and stores, and the concessions and game rooms. (The original underpasses were closed in 1974 and completely filled in with gravel and dirt to prevent vagrancy.) The surviving parts of the original park are the Daytona Beach Bandshell and its spectator seating area, the Edward H. Armstrong Monument, and the Daytona Beach Clock Tower and Fountain.
However, his administration (called "The Armstrong Machine") was able to accomplish many positive changes, including the award of New Deal funding for municipal projects that included upgrading city waterworks, public docks, the bus system, the municipal airport, and the building of the Oceanfront Park complex (which originally included a large beachfront park that had several small rectangular pavilions, octagonal kiosks, a bathhouse, coquina rock veneered shops and stores, concessions and game rooms, and two coquina rock veneered pedestrian underpasses). The surviving parts of the original park are the Daytona Beach Coquina Clock Tower, Daytona Beach Bandshell and the Edward H. Armstrong Monument.Jaye, Randy.
The line has 180 bridges and 1,000 tunnels and underpasses, including passage ways for Mongolian gazelle in the of wilderness from Wuliji to Ejin. The Ceke railway is designed to serve as part of a longer rail corridor between North China and Xinjiang, and to carry coal produced from the Nariin Sukhait mining complex (Ovoot Tolgoi) in southern Mongolia near Ceke. In the first year of operation, the line carried 390,000 tons of coal, and also delivered 3,000 tons of water, 15,000 barrels of drinking water and 20,000 kg of food to stations and remote communities along route.
The project is estimated to cost , including the cost of 24 trainsets, interest during construction and import duties. JICA agreed to fund 81% of the total project cost , through a 50-year loan at an interest rate of 0.1% with a moratorium on repayments up to 15 years and the remaining cost will be borne by the state governments of Maharashtra and Gujarat. 20% of the components used on the corridor will be supplied by Japan, and manufactured in India. Most of the line will be constructed on an elevated corridor to avoid land acquisitions and the need to build underpasses.
The complaint centered on the problem that they are above ground and act as underpasses for a 2000-apartment central-London housing estate, meaning the noise would reverberate through the apartment block. This combined with the time of the runs caused some tenants to complain.Islington Gazette, 24 January 2007. Bid to halt tunnel racers The council named the problem group as the "London Tunnelers", in doing so, they described them as a "clandestine group of sports car enthusiasts" and stated that they were "quite notorious in certain circles" due to their choice of location and activity.
Because development and the multilane U.S. Highway 101 pose barriers to migration of mammals such as tule elk (Cervus elaphus nannoides), puma (Puma concolor), coyote (Canis latrans), bobcat (Lynx rufus), gray fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus), American badger (Taxidea taxus), etc. the Coyote Valley and its permeable multiple highway underpasses/culverts serve as the last remaining safe passages between the mountains to the west and east. De Anza students have used motion activated cameras to document that these passages are used by deer, bobcats, puma, coyote, and other large mammals. Tule elk were re-introduced to Mount Hamilton from 1978 to 1981.
Many of the city's sidewalks and underpasses are littered with prostitutes' calling cards. Macau's economy is based largely on tourism with significant input from gambling casinos, drugs and prostitution which has led to the city being called a Sin City. As the Macau administration relies heavily on taxes from prostitution and gambling, the authorities have traditionally been reluctant to reduce the size of the sex industry. The trade is said to be controlled by Chinese organized crime groups with different gangs made up of people from different provinces in China, a system which has led to violent clashes.
Yuanlin Station Yuanlin has a station on the Taiwan Railways Administration's Western Line. A project is underway to redevelop the station in combination with converting the current at-grade line to an elevated line through the city, a plan designed to improve road traffic flow and promote investment. The elevation of the track will eliminate three level crossings and five underpasses, and the area currently comprising the station will be converted into a mixed-use development with commercial space, parking and green space. This redevelopment was scheduled to be completed in 2013 and has a budget of NT$4 billion.
The Metropolitan City currently has a large number of rail and road work sites. Although this activity has increased as a result of the 2006 Winter Olympics, parts of it had long been planned. Some of the work sites deal with general roadworks to improve traffic flow, such as underpasses and flyovers, but two projects are of major importance and will radically change the shape of the city of Turin. One is the Spina Centrale ("Central Spine") project which includes the doubling of a major railway crossing the city, the Turin-Milan railway locally known as Passante Ferroviario di Torino ("Turin Railway Bypass").
Al- Qubeiba along with Beit Duqqu, Beit 'Anan, Beit Surik, Qatanna, Biddu, Beit Ijza, Kharayib Umm al-Lahim and at-Tira form the "Biddu enclave". The enclave is linked to Ramallah by underpasses and a road that is fenced on both sides. Two underpasses were created during the renovation of 1885/86; these still exist today and lead to stairs connecting to each platform. railway freight bypass and the stations The station was named Hauptbahnhof ("main station") following the opening of the Hell Valley Railway (Höllentalbahn) and Freiburg Wiehre station in 1887. Freight warehouses and loading areas in the station hardly increased in the late 19th century despite an increase of about 20 percent of traffic since 1878. Therefore, between 1901 and 1905, a separate freight yard and an freight bypass line was built between Gundelfingen and Leutersberg for the relief of the main line.
Vail Fill where it passes over Mt. Hermon Road in the Vail section of Blairstown, NJ. This location was also referred to as Molasses Junction. Cars are not officially encouraged in the city centre. Some areas have been pedestrianised to prevent cars interfering with pedestrian traffic, and some roundabouts with pedestrian subway systems have been replaced with signal-controlled junctions, e.g. on Smallbrook Queensway, Moor St Queensway, James Watt Queensway and St Chad's Circus near St Chad's Cathedral. However, there are still the remnants of the Birmingham Inner Ring Road (Queensway) in existence despite much demolition and downgrading, with a de facto heavily trafficked "half-ring" with vehicular underpasses for through traffic on St Chads Queensway, Great Charles St Queensway and Suffolk St Queensway.
The Expressway includes many over and underpasses which are designed in typical Glasgow style using prestressed concrete beams fabricated on site. Unlike most motorways in Scotland, corner radii were set at 150 feet, and the road has a unique electric road heating system installed which, during the winter months, is used to reduce the need to grit. The Expressway has a number of unique grade separated junctions designed to enable efficient movement of traffic whilst minimising land take. Whiteinch Interchange is an example of such a junction, designed to allow traffic to move freely between the Expressway and the Clyde Tunnel.
The cost of project was expected to be but was completed in and in record time of 22 months. It would cut travel time between Lucknow and Agra from 6 hours to 3:30 hours. The expressway is 6-lane wide (expandable to 8-lane in future) although the structures (major, minor bridges and underpasses) on the expressway are already being constructed as 8-laned to be in tune with the expanded width of the expressway in future. It is proposed on minimum distance and minimal agricultural land formula and will be financed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
The FTRA is sometimes claimed to have been founded by a group of Vietnam veterans in 1984 in a Montana bar. Members of the FTRA claim to be a loosely knit club of people who share a similar lifestyle, organized for mutual support. FTRA members are most frequently encountered along the BNSF Railway's Hi-Line, which stretches from Chicago to Seattle, often sleeping in switching yards, bridge underpasses and boxcars along the route. An offshoot of the FTRA, known as the Blood Bound Railroad Gang, distinguishes themselves by wearing red bandanas, as opposed to the FTRA's black bandanas.
A second stop complex to the north-east of the station and known as Bahnhof Oerlikon Ost is served by tram routes 10 and 14, and buses 75, 768 and 781. A third stop complex to the north-west of the station and known as Bahnhof Oerlikon Nord is served by buses 64 and 80. Between them these connect the station to much of the city of Zürich and to the Glatt Valley between Oerlikon and Zurich Airport. The renovation of the station underpasses, completed in 2016, added more than 20 store fronts to the Bahnhof Oerlikon complex mostly below ground level.
The system was to feature improvements over the light rail lines: a third rail power supply, cab signaling with automatic train protection, stations long enough for six-car trains and level crossings replaced by bridges and underpasses—specifications christened "metro standard" by Oslo Sporveier. The Østensjø Line would be converted to metro standard, and three new lines would be built. The Lambertseter Line opened as a light rail line from Brynseng station, where it connected to the Vålerenga Line, to Bergkrystallen station on 28 April 1957. Originally it had overhead wires, low platforms and was served using trams.
Now on the Southern Parkway section of the Belt, the Belt continues eastward into exit 19, which connects to NY 878 (the Nassau Expressway) and indirectly with I-678, the Van Wyck Expressway. This interchange also serves as access to John F. Kennedy International Airport. Now with North and South Conduit Avenues serving as westbound and eastbound frontage roads for the parkway, passing exit 20, a junction with the JFK Expressway and the airport. Crossing under the Van Wyck, the Belt continues east through multiple underpasses and overpasses before reaching exit 21A, westbound side, which services 150th Street and Rockaway Boulevard.
BPR then abandoned this idea, and produced a final report in January 1927, advocating the river's edge route. The river's edge route was relatively flat (unlike the ridge-top route, which had steep grades), had few intersecting roads, needed few underpasses and overpasses, and nearly all the land was already owned by the federal government. It was admittedly more expensive than the ridge-top route ($4.2 million, or 25 percent more). The Secretary of War, Commission of Fine Arts, National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Virginia Highway Commission, and Alexandria Chamber of Commerce all supported the BPR proposal.
The New York to New Haven line has long been completely grade-separated, and the last grade crossings between Washington and New York were eliminated in the 1980s. In 1994, during planning for electrification and high-speed Acela Express service between New Haven and Boston, a law was passed requiring USDOT to plan for the elimination of all remaining crossings (unless impractical or unnecessary) by 1997. Some lightly used crossings were simply closed, while most were converted into bridges or underpasses. Only thirteen remained by 1999, of which lightly used crossings in Old Lyme, Connecticut and Exeter, Rhode Island were soon closed.
The top of the bridge is covered in the native grass of the area so that it blends in better and animals will not know the difference. Gates were also put on either side of the overpass to help guide animals in the right direction (Semrad 2007). Wildlife underpass for bears in Florida, United States In Southern California, 15 underpasses and drainage culverts were observed to see how many animals used them as corridors. They proved to be especially effective on wide-ranging species such as carnivores, mule deer, small mammals, and reptiles, even though the corridors were not intended specifically for animals.
Between 1878 and 1880 the trackage for passenger traffic was again expanded and in 1880 goods traffic moved to the newly built Nürnberg Hauptgüterbahnhof (main goods station) at Kohlenhof. As early as 1897 new plans for the conversion of the Hauptbahnhof were proposed, which included rebuilding the station building, raising the entire track system by about 3.27 m and building pedestrian underpasses (the West and Ost tunnels) under the tracks. Building work began on 19 April 1900 and was finished on 10 March 1906, the Westtunnel and the southern exit was not completed until 1927, however.
For the remainder of the parkway's length, I-15 is located approximately east. Upon entering Farmington, the parkway gains one lane in each direction and terminates at a triple-junction with I-15, SR-225 and U.S. Route 89 west of Lagoon. This interchange is referred to as the Wasatch Weave. Legacy Parkway approaching 500 South The design of the road was re-envisioned to include extensive wetland protection west of the parkway and in the parkway median, a trail system along the side of the parkway, and numerous pedestrian overpasses and underpasses for ease of access to the trail system.
The village was part of the history of street paintings in South Korea, with locals and visiting artists carrying out similar projects around the country. In the mural village, buildings and surroundings became part of the art; flowerpots, telephone poles, stone fences, stairs and even "the crack on a wall has been transformed into a wrinkle on a smiling woman’s face". The 2006 project took about six months, with citizens and college students, including nearby Hansung University students recruited to volunteer. About 70 artists participated with the paintings and installation art that covered the walls, streets, homes, businesses, underpasses and schools.
The cost of procuring the technology is estimated to be around . India and Japan signed agreements for the project in December 2015; the Japanese government will fund 81% of the total cost with a soft loan fixed at a nominal interest rate. A special committee has recommended the trains be run on an elevated corridor for an additional cost of , to avoid the difficulties of acquiring land, building underpasses, and constructing protective fencing. Indian Railways will operate the corridor for a five-year period after its commissioning, and afterwards will be turned over to a private operator.
Lions Park The Cheyenne Community Recreation and Events Department operates an Ice and Events center, swimming pool, spray park, skateboard park, two golf courses, Cheyenne Botanic Gardens (including the Paul Smith Children's Village at the Gardens), paddle boat rentals in Lions Park (summers only), cemeteries, forestry operations, community house, Youth Activity Center and a miniature golf park. The Cheyenne Parks and Recreation Department also operates a ) Greater Cheyenne Greenway system. The greenway connects parks and neighborhoods of greater Cheyenne. It includes many bridges and underpasses where travelers can avoid high traffic roads and travel above waterways and drainages.
Lines around Altenbeken Station exit The station has eleven platform tracks with a length of 140 metres to 403 metres and platform heights varying between 38 and 76 centimetres. The opening of platform 200 on 30 May 1958 to allow a connection between the lines from Hanover or Herford towards Warburg and Kassel means that were now platforms of three sides of a triangle. The track on the third side is now only used by freight. Altenbeken station is an Inselbahnhof ("island station", with the station building surrounded by tracks), which means that the reception building is only accessible through underpasses.
In the 1970s, housing in the Meadows was deemed unsuitable by the council and a large part of the Meadows was demolished to make way for a new development of modern council housing. The new development was based on the Radburn model of planning which consisted of segregating traffic and pedestrians by constructing cul-de-sacs, feeder roads and underpasses. In 1975, the viaduct carrying the Great Central railway and Arkwright Street station was demolished as the new development started to take shape. Today there is absolutely no trace of any part of the Great Central Railway in the Meadows.
Coalition of Advocates for Lake Merritt (CALM), an Oakland group proposed an alternative plan involving a remake of the 12th Street Dam halving the number of traffic lanes from six to three in each direction. The underpasses and overpasses were proposed to be eliminated, with stoplights installed where the road intersects with 12th Street and 1st Avenue. The beach was proposed to be widened, with a gently sloping lawn leading up to the roadway, new walking and bike paths in each direction. Crosswalks with pedestrian-activated stoplights were proposed to replace the tunnels under the freeway.
Austin Station, 9 July 2019 Inspired by the Lennon Wall in Prague, Czech Republic, a banner reading "Lennon Wall Hong Kong" was set on the outside wall of an Admiralty district staircase, turning the wall into one of the landmarks of the occupied district. The original Lennon Wall was set up in front of the Hong Kong Central Government Offices staircase. During June and July 2019, Lennon Walls covered with colourful post-it messages about freedom and democracy "blossomed everywhere" (), appearing throughout the city. They are typically found on the walls of underpasses and pedestrian bridges, on shopfronts, and inside government offices.
In Canada, the extension of Highway 401 into Detroit, known as the Herb Gray Parkway, has been designed with numerous tunnels and underpasses that provide land for parks and recreational uses. Freeway opponents have found that freeway expansion is often self-defeating: expansion simply generates more traffic. That is, even if traffic congestion is initially shifted from local streets to a new or widened freeway, people will begin to use their cars more and commute from more remote locations. Over time, the freeway and its environs become congested again as both the average number and distance of trips increases.
At each interchange, bridges and underpasses for the mainline had an extra set of graded lanes, indicating that the turnpike was expected to be widened in the future. According to the West Virginia Turnpike CAF Report: > The $1.5 million cost per mile was only one of the staggering statistics > used by journalists as far away as Michigan and New York to describe their > "amazement at an engineering achievement of such heroic proportions". Three service areas, each served by an at-grade intersection, were constructed at Morton, Bluestone and Beckley. The service areas were originally referred to as "Glass Houses".
Under this project, NHAI will construct a new 40-km cement concrete, four-lane road from Gondkhairi on Amravati road to Bhilgaon- Sirpur on Kamptee-Jabalpur section of NH 44 road via Fetri on Kalmeshwar-Katol road, Bharatwada, Panjara on Koradi-Chhindwara section of NH 47. It will also widen 21 km stretch Gondkhairi to Gavasi Manapur on NH 44 from existing two- lane to four-lane and convert it to concrete road. The ORR will also have an interchange with the under construction Mumbai–Nagpur Expressway. NHAI will construct five railway overbridges, 20 minor bridges and 15 underpasses under the project.
This scheme involved redeveloping the Yarra River frontage, partially roofing the rail yards, constructing a bridge from Russell Street to Batman Avenue, and building underpasses below Princes Bridge and Batman Avenue. 1958: Kenneth McDonald This plan was proposed by Kenneth MacDonald and Associates to the City of Melbourne, and proposed the roofing of the rail yards between Swanston and Spring Streets, with public space, shops, car parking, apartment and hotel towers, a theatre and an office tower built above. 1961: Matthew Flinders Square This proposal was put promoted by ex Lord Mayor William Lempriere and was prepared by architects Montgomery, King and Trengrove.
Spanning 7.87 kilometres, Kallang Park Connector is the third longest park connector in Singapore, after Coastal Park Connector and Jurong Park Connector which are 15 kilometres-long and 9.4 kilometres-long respectively. Points of interest along Kallang Park Connector include Kallang River @ Bishan–Ang Mo Kio Park, as well as the Kolam Ayer ABC Waterfront. Plans to further rejuvenate the Kallang riverside, including the construction of bridges and underpasses to facilitate seamless connection across major traffic junctions, have been proposed. Other park connectors that run through Kallang include Geylang Park Connector, Pelton Canal Park Connector, Whampoa Park Connector and the Tanjong Rhu Promenade.
The centre of these junctions are within half a mile of each other, with a tangle of inter-weaving slips roads, flyovers, and underpasses between and either side of them. The A71 meets the bypass at a roundabout over the carriageway, and the M8 terminates at a roundabout under the carriageway, along with access to Hermiston Gait retail park. The A71 provides one of the main routes into Edinburgh via Calder Road, and west to Livingston and Kilmarnock. The M8 runs to Glasgow and provides direct access to the M9 for Stirling, and via the M90 to the Queensferry Crossing.
After crossing Viale dell'Oceano Pacifico and Viale dell'Oceano Atlantico, the street leaves the EUR Quarter and the more densely inhabited area of the town. Soon after the trunk road nr. 148 "Pontina" comes off on the left and after a few kilometres the street underpasses the Grande Raccordo Anulare; Via Colombo can be accessed from the Raccordo just from its outer lane. Starting from Via del Risaro it runs along the presidential estate of Castelporziano, then reaches Casal Palocco and, after passing the pine forest of Castelfusano, ends in Piazzale Cristoforo Colombo in Ostia, close to the railway station with the same name.
While the four-track section between the tunnel and Wayne Junction and the two-track section from Wayne Junction to Jenkintown are grade-separated, the two-track section from Jenkintown to Lansdale and the single track from Lansdale to Doylestown has both at-grade railroad crossings and over- and underpasses. Electrified service between Philadelphia and Hatboro, Lansdale, Doylestown and West Trenton was opened on July 26, 1931. Equipment consisted of dark green painted electric multiple unit cars built at the Reading's own shops. Some of the cars were rebuilt during the 1960s receiving air conditioning, refreshed interior and a new blue paint scheme resulting in their being referred to as "Blueliners".
U.S. Department of Transportation – Federal Highway Administration (April 2005). , severe freight train congestion caused trains to take as long to get through the Chicago region as it took to get there from the West Coast of the country (about 2 days). According to U.S. Department of Transportation, the volume of imported and exported goods transported via rail to, from, or through Chicago is forecast to increase nearly 150 percent between 2010 and 2040. CREATE, the Chicago Region Environmental and Transportation Efficiency Program, comprises about 70 programs, including crossovers, overpasses and underpasses, that intend to significantly improve the speed of freight movements in the Chicago area.
The Baltimore and Ohio Related Industries Historic District comprises a portion of Martinsburg, West Virginia to either side of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad line as it runs through the city. The district includes the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Martinsburg Shops, a National Historic Landmark, and a variety of industrial and commercial concerns that depended on the railroad. Along with buildings, the district includes the infrastructure associated with the building of the railroad in an urbanizing environment, such as the channelizing of Tuscarora Creek and a variety of culverts, underpasses and retaining walls. Significant buildings include, apart from the roundhouse/shop complex, the B. & O. Railroad station and hotel.

Teton County allocated $150,000 in the 2019 fiscal year budget to jump-start early planning and design for wildlife crossing and other mitigation. Although the county has used the master plan to prioritize projects, it does not have a public assessment of their total cost. In addition to the Teton County plan, WYDOT has completed a project along a stretch of US Highway 191. The project built six underpasses, two overpasses and installed fencing to enhance safety during the annual pronghorn-sheep migration. WYDOT has allocated $3.5 million for a crossing at the HWY 22 / 390 intersection, with an estimated total project cost of $7.5 million.
Wildlife crossings, such as wildlife overpasses or underpasses, are generally seen as the most effective mitigation measure to help make roads more passable for wildlife while increasing both driver and animal safety. To funnel wildlife towards these crossings, many studies have called for a combination of both wildlife crossings and exclusion fencing, making the crossings under or over the road the only available path for wildlife. With a combination of both wildlife crossings and suitable lengths of fencing, the barrier effect of roads is expected to decrease, allowing animals to access both sides of the road and therefore allowing for important life cycle processes including migration and mating.
Since 1951 the station has been used by the ÖBB and DB jointly as an internal station. For that reason there were two separate pedestrian underpasses under the tracks, separated by a wall, that enabled border and customs checks to be carried out. Since the entry of Austria into the EU in 1995 and the associated scrapping of these checks, this wall has been removed apart from a small section. On this section of wall there is a memorial tablet for the two policemen, Klaus März and Georg Schachner, who were murdered on 11 November 1993 in an Intercity from Linz to Passau near Schärding.
Access to the platforms was available by stairways at the Penn Avenue, South Avenue, and Franklin Avenue underpasses, in addition to the station tunnel which also served as the Ross Avenue pedestrian underpass. There was also a separate tunnel at the station to deliver mail, express, and baggage to the platforms (a U.S. post office was later constructed across the street from the station, forming a sort of civic center in conjunction with the municipal building/public library, also across the street). The station's strategic location visible down Ross Ave. was negated when that street's motor traffic was made one-way in the opposite direction.
Some districts of Bahçelievler – such as Bahçelievler, Basın Sitesi and Yayla – are well lit, with tree-lined avenues of attractive buildings and small parks, big shopping centers, cinemas and many small cafés. Traffic in these districts is congested, despite efforts undertaken in 2006 to relieve pressure with new roads, bridges and underpasses. Outlying districts such as Yenibosna or Soğanlı consist largely of factories, retail and small businesses (including many textile wholesalers), intermixed with extremely dense housing (typically, 6–8-story apartment buildings packed together in long rows) and run through with arterial roads. The infrastructure is poor, and the narrow streets are often choked with traffic.
Due to its proximity to the flood- prone Buffalo Bayou, the underpasses are subject to flooding during heavy rains and flood gauges can be seen. In June 2001, though, heavy rains from Tropical Storm Allison caused Buffalo Bayou to overtop its banks and flood the entire parkway, in some places, to a depth of eight feet.20 A closer view of a 3-way intersection located at Allen Parkway and Sanford Street (sic) . East of the northbound overpass and southbound underpass with Squire Bowers Road, a pair of rest areas which contain the North Carolina Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park are entered from the right, but are still in the median. Only after the underpasses beneath Johnsontown Road does the northbound lane run over the southbound one returning to its proper location. Approximately northeast of the Charlotte area is the Triad area, anchored by the cities of Winston-Salem, Greensboro and High Point. I-85 bypasses High Point and also largely bypasses Greensboro. Up until February 2004, I-85 went through the heart of Greensboro and joined Interstate 40 near downtown.
North–South Expressway in west coast of Peninsular Malaysia Known dual carriageways in Malaysia include the North-South Expressway (the main motorway system in Peninsular Malaysia), the East Coast Expressway (serving the Peninsular east coast), the Federal Highway (serving Kuala Lumpur), the AMJ Highway (linking Malacca and the Johorean towns Muar and Batu Pahat) and the under construct Pan Borneo Highway of Sabah and Sarawak. Some highways inside Klang Valley have underpasses, tunnels and flyovers e.g. SMART Tunnel (mostly tunnel section) and Ampang–Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (mostly elevated section). In Apart from major motorways and expressways, treelined dual carriageways also pass through most urban areas.
The $1 billion Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project added a high-occupancy vehicle lane and associated changes to freeway entrances, exits, and underpasses along a 10-mile stretch through the Sepulveda Pass between I-10 and U.S. 101/Ventura Boulevard. The project was completed as a design-build in contrast to the traditional design-bid-build used typically in infrastructure improvement. This section of I-405 was closed for a weekend in mid-July 2011 to demolish the Mulholland Drive Bridge, and a section was closed for the last weekend of September 2012. Jamzilla was the name for the I-405 closure on President's Day Weekend 2014.
U.S. Route 12 through Idaho has been proposed as a route for shipment of huge equipment from Lewiston, an inland port,"Columbia-Snake Corridor: The West Coast Alternative" website Port of Lewiston, accessed October 22, 2010 to oil sands facilities near Fort McMurray, Alberta and to a refinery in Billings, Montana. On two-lane portions of the road, the equipment, weighing as much as 300 tons and as much as high and wide, would occupy the entire roadway. The route is preferable to other routes due to the lack of underpasses and the great distances involved. The alternative is transport across the Great Plains from Texas or New Orleans.
Porta Susa railway station The city currently has a large number of rail and road work sites. Although this activity has increased as a result of the 2006 Winter Olympics, parts of it had long been planned. Some of the work sites deal with general roadworks to improve traffic flow, such as underpasses and flyovers, but two projects are of major importance and will radically change the shape of the city. One is the Spina Centrale ("Central Spine") project which includes the doubling of a major railway crossing the city, the Turin-Milan railway locally known as Passante Ferroviario di Torino ("Turin Railway Bypass").
The Westlink has garnered much negative publicity over the years, owing to rush-hour traffic bottlenecks at its major intersections. The major renovation work from 2006-2009.Northern Ireland Roads Site - Westlink Upgrade URL accessed 17 July 2006 has seen the full grade-separation of the Broadway and Grosvenor Road junctions via underpasses and a third traffic lane is being added in both directions between Broadway and Divis Street. Left-in/left-out sliproads provided at Mulhouse Road (for access to the Royal Victoria Hospital), the closure of access to Roden Street and the provision of a segregated busway from Broadway into the Europa Buscentre were also completed.
Statistically, modern roundabouts are safer for drivers and pedestrians than both older-style traffic circles and traditional intersections. Compared with these other forms of intersections, modern roundabouts experience 39% fewer vehicle collisions, 76% fewer injuries and 90% fewer serious injuries and fatalities (according to a study of a sampling of roundabouts in the United States, when compared with the junctions they replaced). Some larger roundabouts take foot and bicycle traffic through underpasses or alternate routes. At junctions with stop signs or traffic lights, the most serious accidents are right-angle, left-turn or head-on collisions where vehicles move fast and collide at high impact angles, e.g. head-on.
The Hub:MK, home to several businesses and a trade centre along with apartments, flats and two hotels. The Hub:MK is a 2006-built development between the station and the church, consisting of towers ranging between 10 and 14 storeys. The complex includes two high-rise hotels and a number of residential and office towers set around a central piazza. The site controversially involves the closure of one of the original pedestrian underpasses and is built right up to the edge of the adjacent boulevard, the first of several proposals that would have changed the unique character of Milton Keynes Development Corporation's original design for Central Milton Keynes.
Cycle storage can be found along route 51 at Milton Keynes Central train station (covered cycle racks) and at the junction of Midsummer Boulevard and Witan Gate where there are storage and changing facilities available. There are also frequent Sheffield cycle racks near the station, and outside the shopping centre and theatre, on both sides of Midsummer Boulevard. Cyclists appear to be encouraged to cycle through car parks (with two-way lanes) on each side of Midsummer Boulevard, and use pedestrian underpasses at the major junctions (cars use the roundabouts and/or traffic lights). The Swan's Way long distance footpath also uses part of the Redway system.

The travelers would have then to endure without usable water while crossing the valley, regardless of which of the two routes across the valley the travelers followed. I-80 closely approximates the path of the emigrants between the Humboldt and Truckee Rivers. alt=A 6-lane freeway passing under a series of underpasses A marker stands at a rest area on the eastern edge of the valley, near the junction of I-80 and US 95, that honors travelers who suffered crossing the valley, thousands of whom abandoned possessions, animals and even loved ones in the desert. Per the marker, this portion was the most dreaded portion of the California Trail.
For the majority of the creek's area in the city is considered to be a protected area. This also includes other protected areas such as Larch Sanctuary, which is a 59-acre reserve south of 23rd avenue which officially opened in the spring of 2017 Whitemud Creek acts as an important wildlife corridor to allow for free movement of species around Edmonton. Upstream of the river there are various wildlife underpasses as various roads dissect this landscape, this keeps the creek contiguous, the most notable of which is that at the Anthony Henday Drive, where there is space for both animals to travel and pedestrians.
After the passing of the Hong Kong national security law on 30 June 2020, notes on Lennon Walls were replaced by blank notes to maintain a form of protest that was not punishable by the law. Portraits of pro-Beijing lawmaker Junius Ho plastered on the ground near a Lennon Wall. Hundreds of portraits of key government supporters and officials were plastered on the ground on footbridges and underpasses, allowing pedestrians to step on them as a way to vent their anger. On some Lennon Walls, citizens can use a slipper hung by protesters to strike the portrait in a manner that resembles something called "villain hitting".
Airside facilities are controlled by the Indonesian government, while landside facilities would be owned by a joint venture with PT Angkasa Pura II, which is expected to provide $350 million as an initial investment in return for a 30-year lease, after which ownership would revert to PT Angkasa Pura II. The airport will be linked to the city of Medan by a $10.7 million railway project. An 18 km highway is under construction improving the airport's road connection to the city of Medan. It will cost $1.5 billion and will have 4 interchange, 4 underpasses, 7 flyovers, and 3 toll gates. Series of Citilink check-in counters at the airport.
Nevertheless, these roads continue to provide access from London to nearby communities and locations in much of Western Ontario, including Goderich, Port Stanley and Owen Sound. Intersection along the Veterans Memorial Parkway, an at-grade expressway Since the 1970s, London has improved urban road alignments that eliminated "jogs" in established traffic patterns over 19th-century street misalignments. The lack of freeways directly through the city as well as the presence of two significant railways (each with attendant switching yards and few over/underpasses) are the primary causes of rush hour congestion, along with construction and heavy snow. Thus, traffic times can be significantly variable, although major traffic jams are rare.
The opening of Central Station (Centralbahnhof, now called the Hauptbahnhof) in 1859 required the building of a connecting line to the West Rhine Railway (), running around the city to the west. The Prussian government built a new line of fortifications around Cologne and the new district of Neustadt (new town) inside the fortifications from 1881, requiring the reorganisation of the railway lines. On 9 January 1883, the City Council approved the relocation of the line on an embankment, which was built further from the centre than previously. This embankment ran on the inside of the new inner ring of fortifications through the new town and underpasses were built for all roads running to exits in the fortifications.
Many crossings were replaced with underpasses, and railway stations were rebuilt in order to provide space for the route. Operationally, the line is run as two separate two track routes, the one having the VzG number 1700, being built and maintained for passenger services and allowing speeds up to 200 km/h, whilst the route with the VzG number of 2990 is used mainly for freight and has a maximum speed of 120 km/h. Between Ahlen until shortly east of Gütersloh route 2990 uses the two southernmost tracks, whilst 1700 comprise the northernmost pair; west of Ahlen and east of Gütersloh route 1700 uses the southernmost pair of tracks. The lines were electrified in the mid-1960s.
The fine detailing extended to the restrooms with imported panelling, light fittings, period-style furniture and porcelain sanitaryware. Underpasses and ramps linked the station building with an extended platform network to the rear, built with elegant concrete canopies and other elements as integral parts of the original design and function. With modifications, the building was used as the main point of arrival for rail passengers in Auckland for most of the century. The station building was sold during the privatisation of part of the New Zealand Railways Corporation during the 1990s, partly because of the impending construction of Britomart Transport Centre, which would become the new railway station for the city centre.
Many buildings in the vicinity of the Market Place were damaged or destroyed on the night of 12 December 1940, when German aircraft bombed Sheffield. The bomb sites were cleared but most remained empty for many years. In 1968 many old streets were cleared to make way for the new Arundel Gate, a dual carriageway road that terminated at a large roundabout built on the former market place. Underneath the roundabout a network of underpasses and shops was built (with a central area open to the sky), this formed a complex that was officially designated Castle Square but became affectionately known locally as "Oyle in t' Road" or Hole in the Road.
Traffic wardens were not sent out at all for security reasons. On 14 August, it became known that Sauerland admitted to deceiving the public about the expected number of visitors at the event. The "several million people" he had been referring to prior to the parade were only "pushed numbers" for media attention in accordance with the organiser of the event. The organiser and the administration had also claimed 1.4 million visitors on the day the disaster occurred but it turned out that the festival area proper (excluding the ramp, tunnel, underpasses, and crowded streets outside the access points), which had been approved for 250,000, was apparently not filled at the time.
A motorway was even planned which was to cross the city partly underground, but which now by-passes the city to the north. The problem of four railway lines from north, west, south, and east meeting at the central station south of the city centre and strangulating city traffic has been eased by a considerable number of underpasses on the main arteries. Nevertheless, despite 28 bus lines, traffic jams are frequent nowadays as in most cities of similar size. Ideas of a rapid transport system using the existing railway rails, of an elevated cable railway to the football stadium, or of a regular motorboat service on the Lend Canal from the city centre to the lake have not materialized.
In 2003, Gökçek tried to ban the pedestrian crossing in Ankara's busiest crossroads, demanding that pedestrians walk through the underpasses. Activists protested the city center being closed off completely from pedestrians and declared that the mayor unilaterally taking such a decision was against the law. Gökçek announced that he would call for a referendum; a court eventually found the mayor's proposal unlawful on the basis that Gökçek had bused in supporters from Ankara Province's rural areas to vote in favor of his pedestrian ban. Gökçek also drew criticism after he replaced the middle four lanes of a major road to a new underpass and constructed a recreation complex on the over plot named Gökkuşağı ("Rainbow").

An outer circle for automotive traffic surrounds a second sunken circle for bicycles and motorscooters; ramps from the bicycle lanes along the nearby streets lead into the lower circle via four underpasses. This design for a traffic circle is one that is called a berenkuil (meaning bear pit) in the Netherlands. Insulindeplein is part of the Eindhoven ring road and connects the center of Eindhoven to the highway to Helmond.
As his reputation grew, Kuntz joined the stable of artists represented by Felix Landau, a leading Los Angeles art dealer who maintained a prestigious gallery on La Cienega Boulevard. The relationship continued from 1957 to 1968. As Kuntz matured, his paintings evolved from relatively traditional landscapes, still lifes and figure studies to much more reductive and dramatic views of freeway overpasses and underpasses, cropped highway signs, and signs carved in deep shadow and light; they embodied Kuntz's search for the union of formal abstraction and mundane reality. Produced from 1960 to 1962 in a palette generally limited to black, white, grays and greens, these paintings compose his most highly acclaimed body of work.
The planned route of the motorway runs roughly parallel to the existing National Highway and Indus Highway at various portions. In July 2016, the Pakistani government announced that the project would be open to international bidders on a build-operate-transfer basis, with Chinese and South Korean companies expressing interest in the project. The 392 kilometers Sukkur to Multan section of the motorway is estimated to cost $2.89 billion, with construction works inaugurated on this section of roadway on 6 May 2016 and completed in September 2019. . The road will be a six lane wide controlled access highway, with 11 planned interchanges, 10 rest facilities, 492 underpasses, and 54 bridges along its route.
In March 1976 Mary Ann Gaido (Democrat) was elected to the Irvine City Council and re-appointed Moe to the Transportation Commission. In May 1976 construction of the first of two bike underpasses at the ends of Turtle Rock Drive and the Riparian Corridor trail was completed as proposed. In 1978 when her term as Transportation Commissioner expired, Moe continued to attend meetings of the Transportation Commission, the Planning Commission, and City Council on behalf of the committee. The City Council asked Moe to attend the National Bike Planning conferences at Palo Alto, California, University of California, Davis, and San Diego that helped Irvine develop the best planning criteria for the city's Master Plan of Trails.
View of Birmingham from Railroad Park Before the first structure was built in Birmingham, the directors of the Elyton Land Company developed a plan for the city's . The streets were numbered from west to east, leaving 20th Street to form the central spine of downtown, anchored on the north by Capital Park and stretching into the slopes of Red Mountain to the south. A "railroad reservation" was granted through the center of the city, running east to west and zoned solely for industrial uses. As the city grew, bridges and underpasses separated the streets from the railroad bed, lending this central reservation some of the impact of a river (without the pleasant associations of a waterfront).
As a result of these lawsuits, TDOT chose to slightly modify the design and employ new construction methods on the remaining sections the following year. These changes included construction of bridges over streams feeding the South Harpeth River instead of culverts, multiple wildlife underpasses, and designation of the remaining sections as a scenic highway, which prohibits billboards and uses brown powder-coated guardrail. They also formed a citizen's resource team, made up of nine local residents who worked with TDOT to select the final designs and alignment of these stretches. On February 9, 2006, TDOT announced that the realignment of the final segment of I-840 had been chosen and that work on the unfinished sections would proceed.
Following the parkway concept of Calvert Vaux and Frederick Law Olmsted, designers of New York City's Central Park, the planners of the Colonial Parkway used a model of a limited access highway with broad sweeping curves, set in a landscaped right-of-way devoid of commercial development. These features, derived from 19th-century Romantic landscape theories, created a safer and more pleasant drive compared to the increasingly congested urban strips. In addition to protecting the views, culvert headwalls and parkway underpasses were clad in "Virginia-style" brick laid in English and Flemish bonds to promote a "colonial-era" effect. Design features such as molded coping rails, string courses and buttresses followed the historical prototypes found at Williamsburg.
The A12 starts just north of the Blackwall Tunnel at a junction with the A102 and the A13. From here to past Ipswich (including the entire section through London) the road is a dual carriageway. North of the junction, the A12 heads northwards as a 2/3 lane dual carriageway mostly at street level. This stretch of road is known as the Blackwall Tunnel Northern Approach. This stretch ends at the triple-layer interchange with the A11 at Bow Road where it becomes the East Cross Route. This is mainly a 3/4 lane dual carriageway built mainly on flyovers and underpasses and was built in the late 1960s, previously called the A102(M).
Once more, redevelopment efforts failed to materialize. Barry defeated Dixon in her attempt to win renomination for mayor, and Barry won the general elected held in November 1994. Barry announced his second effort to redevelop the New York Avenue Extended corridor in July 1995. A more thorough analysis of the corridor found several problems: The roadway was poorly maintained and traffic was far too heavy; the intersection of New York Avenue and Bladensburg Road was a confusing mass of exit and on ramps, medians, and underpasses; poor zoning laws had allowed businesses to erect bright, visually distracting signs; and an excessive number of curb cuts permitted too many motorists to access the road and slow traffic.
As of 2010, around 90% of all railway accidents occurred at level crossings without safety fences, and most were said to have been caused by motorists failing to follow traffic safety laws. Along with recent efforts aimed at infrastructure rehabilitation, the recent adoption of safety measures by national railway operator Vietnam Railways has led to a decline in railway accidents. These measures include: public awareness campaigns on railway safety in the media; construction of fences and safety barriers at critical level crossings in major cities; mobilization of volunteers for traffic control at train stations and level crossings, especially during holiday seasons; the installation of additional auto-signal systems; and the construction of flyovers and underpasses to redirect traffic.
Barbaros Boulevard at Zincirlikuyu Zincirlikuyu is a major bus interchange of the European site in Istanbul. It features bus stations in all four directions, to Levent, Mecidiyeköy and Beşiktaş as the first stop before the Bosphorus Bridge and the last one after the bridge for commuter bus traffic coming from the Asian side of the city. It is served by more than forty İETT city bus lines, and five of the eight metrobus lines, being the terminal of some. Zincirlikuyu metrobus station is connected to Gayrettepe metro station and to Zorlu Center with pedestrian tunnels of a total length of and -long pedestrian underpasses, which include 6 escalators, 7 elevators for disabled persons and 14 moving walkways of length.
The P. V. Narasimha Rao Expressway, longest flyover in India Hyderabad, the capital of the southern Indian state of Telangana, is the fourth largest city in terms of area in India, with a total metro area of 7100 square km and has a population of over 10 million. As the city was founded in 1591, the present roads are not sufficient to the ever-growing city population. To respond to the rising population of the city, the Government of Telangana and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has taken up the Strategic Road Development Program for the development of roads in Hyderabad. As a part of this program, the government is planning to construct numerous flyovers and underpasses across the city.
Along with private car owners, bus users also complained about bad planning. Despite the claims of DIMTS, the agency in-charge of the stretch, bus users say they are forced to scamper across the stretch to cross between the bus stands and the pavement. Without proper underpasses from the central median, where passengers get down or board the bus, a passenger does not know how to reach the bus stop as it's in the middle of the road. Not only are there no proper pedestrian crossings for road users on the BRT, the maintenance of the stretch is so poor that most of the safety markers, like bollards and speedbreakers, are broken and in a state of severe disrepair.
Only after crossing Pond Path Drive does Nicolls Road return to a north-south road before reaching NY 347, which is slated to get a cloverleaf interchange. Beyond NY 347, Nicolls Road is surrounded by suburban development of the 1960s, although very few of that development leads directly to the road. At some point, the developed area ends, and CR 97 winds through the hills of Stony Brook University with numerous underpasses mainly for pedestrians. As St. George's Golf and Country Club becomes more visible, CR 97 approaches the penultimate intersection between the northernmost driveway into Stony Brook University before descending back into suburbia and intersecting a connecting road to Lower Sheep Pasture Road.
The DND Flyway Noida–Greater Noida Expressway connects Noida with Greater Noida, which is an upcoming financial and commercial hub and is also to have a new Jewar International Airport. A 135.6-km long Western Peripheral Expressway, also known as the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway(KMP), which became operational on 19 November 2018, will relieve Delhi of the congestion of heavy night traffic and will act as a bypass for the night vehicles. NH 24 or Ghaziabad Road is a four-lane national highway which connects Delhi to Lucknow via Ghaziabad. As the Commonwealth Village is located close by Yamuna bridge on this highway, underpasses and flyover being built will help facilitate traffic between the eastern areas of Delhi/ Western UP and the rest of the city.
In the early 1950s, the same railroad that had been the cause of its creation also became the cause of its destruction, as the town was razed to accommodate the expansion of the B&O;'s Curtis Bay terminal. The railroad sought to avoid antiquated and dangerous underpasses and at-grade crossings, and the required land required the purchasing of the land under the town by B&O;, who in turn deeded it to Baltimore city for demolition and redevelopment. The last buildings were destroyed to make way for the Harbor Tunnel Thruway in 1957. The remaining land north of the railroad yards remained in the hands of the Arundel Corporation for many years, which operated a dump at the site.
It is in length with its source in the northeast of Bernau bei Berlin. The headwaters were overbuilt with the construction of the railway from Berlin to Stettin in 1842, today the Panke waters leak beneath the railroad embankment. The river flows southwestwards parallel to the railway line through the Bernau town centre and reaches the municipal border with Panketal, underpassing the Bundesautobahn 11. South of Panketal, the river crosses the border of Brandenburg with Berlin, where it traverses the Pankow borough from north to south, running through the locality of Buch, where it underpasses the Bundesautobahn 10 (Berliner Ring) and forms the border with the Berlin locality of Karow and the western border of Karow and Blankenburg with Französisch Buchholz.

Biddu along with 9 other Palestinian villages, Beit Duqqu, Beit 'Anan, Beit Surik, Qatanna, al-Qubeiba, Beit Ijza, Kharayib Umm al Lahimand and at Tira form the "Biddu enclave" which, according to Tanya Reinhart, are imprisoned behind a wall, cut off from their orchards and farmlands that are being seized in order to form the real estate reserves of the Jerusalem Corridor and to create a territorial continuity with Giv'at Ze'ev.Reinhart, 2006, p. 202 The enclave will be linked to Ramallah by underpasses and a road that is fenced on both sides. From the "Biddu enclave" Palestinians will travel along a fenced road that passes under a bypass road to Bir Nabala enclave, then on a second underpass under Bypass Road 443 to Ramallah.
A promotional video for "Underpass" was produced by Virgin at the time of the single release. It featured Foxx dressed in suit, tie and overcoat roaming a post-apocalyptic basement with neon light tubes, two keyboard players and two abandoned young children while a black and white film is being projected onto a suspended screen. Since August of the same year, the Georg Mayer company from Alzey had been working on the Cramberg tunnel, the east portal of which lies south of Balduinstein. The resulting material was used as fill for the railway line, which required the demolition of many houses by the summer of 1860. The inhabitants' access to the Lahn was ensured by a number of underpasses and overpasses.

As automobile traffic increased, planners saw a need for such an interconnected national system to supplement the existing, largely non-freeway, United States Numbered Highways system. Upon reaching Clifton, US 46 has an interchange with the western terminus of Route 3 and Valley Road (CR 621), with the Valley Road exit stitched into the Route 3 side of the highway fork. Prior to reconstruction of the interchanges, the Valley Road ramp exited before Route 3 began, and Route 3 branched off immediately after Valley Road. Past Route 3, the highway narrows to four lanes, continuing east-northeast as a limited-access divided highway with some RIRO-accessed businesses still on it, though many roads are accessed through over and underpasses. US 46 has an exit for Van Houten Avenue/Grove Street before coming to a large interchange with Route 19/CR 509 and the Garden State Parkway.
During their annual breeding migration, red crabs will often have to cross several roads to get to their breeding grounds and then back to forest. As a result, red crabs are frequently crushed by vehicles and sometimes cause accidents due to their tough exoskeletons which are capable of puncturing tyres. To ensure the safety of both populations, crabs and humans, local park rangers work to ensure that crabs can safely make their journey from the centre of the island to the sea; along heavily travelled roads, they set up aluminium barriers whose purpose is to funnel the crabs towards small underpasses so that they can safely traverse the roads. Other infrastructure to assist the crab migration includes a five- metre-high "crab bridge".

Starting in 1937, the construction of the Reichsautobahn (now the A3, Bundesautobahn 3) changed the face of the environment considerably. The surveying and construction of the first four-lane motorway in the area took place over several years before the segment through Aegidienberg opened in September 1939. As typical of many Rust Belt cities, the economic downturn of the railroad resulted in the closure of many of the downtown's landmark stores and industries; and the simultaneous rise in prominence of the automobile shifted commercial development to the suburbs. However, through recent revitalization efforts, Altoona's downtown maintains a significant level of economic vitality and hosts few office and residential vacancies. The downtown maintains a significant focus on pedestrian-oriented development, as evidenced by the presence of more pedestrian bridges and underpasses across the railroad tracks (connecting the two parts of downtown) than automobile crossings. Penn State Altoona has bought several downtown buildings, including the former Playhouse Theater building, the six-story Penn Furniture building, and the former WRTA building.

FrontRunner South opened with service to Utah County at about the same time as the I-15 CORE project was completed (which was a rebuild of I-15 along much of the same corridor as FrontRunner South.) Both projects added substantial transportation improvements to Utah County. The city of Lehi continues investigating options to build overpasses or underpasses to separate the rail traffic from the Main Street vehicle traffic, though the status of this is unlikely as the cost of the project would exceed twenty million dollars. Since the original planning for FrontRunner South, two additional east-west alternative routes in Lehi have opened that do not have at-grade crossings for rail traffic: 2100 North (SR-85) and Pioneer Crossing (SR-145).
Even with overpasses and underpasses, neighbourhoods are divided—especially impoverished ones where residents are less likely to own a car, or to have the political and economic influence to resist construction efforts. The Suhre, after it underpasses the A1, it traverses Oberentfelden right in the middle of this larger village and also now in the middle of the valley, to be joined by the Ürke in Unterentfelden (406 m a.s.l.) just after Oberentfelden and runs now almost westwards to circumvent the Gönert hill (468 m a.s.l.). About after 2 km it runs through the middle of Suhr, turns again to the north, being joined by the Wyna from the right just before Buchs (AG). After underpassing one of the major Swiss railway lines (running between Bern/Basel/Olten and Zurich), the Suhr passes Aarau on its eastern end and joins the much larger Aare running east-north-east at 362 metres above sea level.

Widening of the entire Segment 1, which is approximately , from 3x2 lanes to 2x4 lanes. ;Bosphorus crossing Construction of a , two-deck road tunnel with two lanes on each deck, a toll plaza and an administrative building on the western end and ventilation shafts on both ends of the tunnel. ;Asian side Widening from 2x3 and 2x4 lanes to 2x4 and 2x5 lanes along an approximately stretch of the current D100 road that links at Göztepe to Ankara-İstanbul State Highway, and construction of 2 bridge intersections, 1 overpass and 3 pedestrian bridges.
In 1913, the city of Erie appointed a committee of city planners and civil engineers led by John Nolen that was tasked with determining the best course of action to support the continued growth of the city. In its final report, the committee recommended, among other civic improvements, that "for the improvement of the railroad facilities in Erie" a new Union Station be constructed, as well as the "abolition of all [railroad] crossings". At the time, the only streets in Erie where the railroad was grade separated were State, French, and Ash Streets, and Buffalo Road, while the remainder had level crossings. The committee felt it was desirable that, on account of Erie's topography and the existing railroad grades, the tracks be raised in the downtown to accommodate new roadway underpasses.
A partial cloverleaf interchange here would permit parkway traffic to access either Arlington Memorial Bridge or Ohio Drive SW. Ohio Drive SW would be extended north past Arlington Memorial Bridge and the parkway (via underpasses) very near the shoreline at a level below the plaza. It would cut through the watergate steps to connect with this interchange. Parkway traffic wishing to access Constitution Avenue NW could do so by passing around the Lincoln Memorial circle to Henry Bacon Drive or 23rd Street NW. Another partial cloverleaf interchange at the foot of Arlington Memorial Bridge would allow bridge traffic to access northbound Ohio Drive SW and on-ramps to the parkway, or (via the Lincoln Memorial traffic circle) 23rd Street SW and then either Independence Avenue SW or southbound Ohio Drive SW.
After the neo-classical entrance building was demolished for the quadruplication of the Hamm–Minden line, Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft (DRG) opened a new monumental station building at its present location on the street then called Queckwinkel on 21 December 1925. The extensive rebuilding of the extensive rail facilities, which replaced all the level crossings with underpasses, was completed in 1930 with the opening of the new freight yard beyond the freight tracks on Langer Weg. The ticket hall and the south wing (with the ticket office, express freight and baggage handling facilities) were damaged by air raids on 14 March 1945 and blown up by American troops in April 1945. For about six years it was necessary to buy tickets and to despatch baggage a temporarily constructed shed on the station forecourt.
When Melbourne's railway network was built, because of the city's flat topography and sparse population, many railway crossings were via level crossing rather than bridges or underpasses. As traffic levels increased, these began to become bottlenecks, both for road traffic as well as limiting the number of trains that can be run, especially at peak times. The former route through the south of Sunderland is now the B1522. At the point where a former railway crosses (now NCN Route 1) the road enters the City of Sunderland. Hylton Bridge At this point, the A19 makes a large deviation from its former route, by bypassing Sunderland from the west. Its former route went near the coast. The 8.75-mile Sunderland Bypass opened as the A108, and was built by W.C. French, with fourteen bridges and five underpasses, with the contract awarded in February 1970. The A108 was also previously the number of an A road in north London, for a re-routed A10 to Hoddesdon. At Herrington the A19 meets the A690 (for Houghton-le-Spring) and the B1286 at an interchange. It is crossed by the B1286.
Antares had originally said the retail space in its plans was only to service the South End neighborhood, but in summer of 2006 it submitted a proposal to the city Planning Board for . The Downtown Special Services District objected, and officials of that organization told the Planning Board at a hearing on August 10, 2006 that the retail space could hurt Downtown stores. In 2009, Pitney Bowes paid an engineering consultant to study traffic in the South End, particularly in connection with plans for new office buildings and residences. According to the study, the new developments will clog traffic in the neighborhood, even with the planned improvements to Washington Boulevard and Atlantic Street (including reconstruction of the railroad underpasses of Atlantic and Canal streets) in the South End.

There are currently ongoing electrification works on the line, most notably on the Buenos Aires - La Plata service which has received a US$500 million investment from the state, 300 of which come from an Inter-American Development Bank loan. Other works on the line include the refurbishment of stations and the raising of platforms to match the height of the new CSR rolling stock, while the construction of new underpasses and other infrastructure improvements is due to reduce travel times by around 50%. The section of the old Radford Road between Light Lane and the city centre was cut off from the rest and left as a dead end. The slip roads on the section were brought into use in early June, allowing traffic to travel between the junctions but not yet on the flyover or the underpass. This opened up a through route from Warwick Road and Queen's Road in the south all the way through to Foleshill Road in the north, via the Moat Street flyover and the stage four slip roads, allowing traffic to bypass the city centre for the first time. The Hill Cross flyover and Holyhead Road underpasses were both opened on 18 July 1966, three months ahead of schedule, with construction workers removing the barriers and allowing traffic to flow.
The Arc de Triomphe during the World War I centenary celebrations on 11 November 2018 The Arc de Triomphe is accessible by the RER and Métro, with exit at the Charles de Gaulle—Étoile station. Because of heavy traffic on the roundabout of which the Arc is the centre, it is recommended that pedestrians use one of two underpasses located at the Champs Élysées and the Avenue de la Grande Armée. A lift will take visitors almost to the top – to the attic, where there is a small museum which contains large models of the Arc and tells its story from the time of its construction. Another 40 steps remain to climb in order to reach the top, the terrasse, from where one can enjoy a panoramic view of Paris.
Adelbert W. Lee, chair of the bridge committee, pointed out that more than 15,000 vehicles a day crossed the bridge (the oldest in the city), and that modern firefighting equipment could not cross the bridge due to weight restrictions. Lee said Collins' claim about opposition was untrue, and that both the Dupont Circle and Thomas Circle underpasses were opposed by some citizens while not a single protest had been registered against the bridge proposal. Nonetheless, the bill went to the House floor on January 27, 1938, without the bridge appropriation. Representative Stephen Warfield Gambrill (D-Maryland) attempted to amend the bill on the floor of the House on February 1 by restoring the funds, but the amendment was not offered after Collins won a Point of order vote against it.
With the construction beginning from 5 December 1993, the existing Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim from Tuas West Drive to Jurong Town Hall Road was widened and merged into Ayer Rajah Expressway which was opened on 18 November 1997. The expressway was extended to Tuas from the Teban Flyover in conjunction with the opening of the Tuas Second Link to Johor on 2 January 1998. This construction, which followed the alignment of Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim, involved the expansion of the existing road to match with the width of the rest of the AYE, construction of "filter" roads on both sides of the expressway (which eventually took the name of Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim), and the building of five flyovers and two underpasses. It meets up with the Pan Island Expressway at the Tuas Flyover.
The passenger tracks separate from each other immediately north of the station. While the north-bound track runs relatively directly towards Cologne Central Station (Hbf), the south-bound track runs in a wide arc north of the operations station (Betriebsbahnhof, where trains coming from or going to Cologne Hbf are assembled, disassembled or parked), meaning that it is almost 500 m longer than the other track. The freight train tracks separate at an at-grade junction at the northern end of West Cologne station; one line connects to the Ehrenfeld district and on to the Cologne–Aachen high-speed railway and another runs to Cologne-Nippes and on to the Lower Left Rhine Railway. In addition, sidings branch from the so-called Schlundgleis (gullet track) that runs through the dismantled Köln Gereon freight yard and pass through several underpasses to the operating station.

The station precinct incorporates a platform-length series of bus bays (only one of which is currently in use) on the northern side and a pick-up/drop-off zone on the southern side. On the southern side of the Centenary Highway is a 100-vehicle car park, with an additional 400 spaces available off Springfield Greenbank Arterial Road, connected to the station concourse by a footbridge. The 400-space car park was completed in early 2014 following a reassessment of parking availability, as it was determined that 100 spaces would be insufficient for the number of people using the station. Road and pedestrian access to the station is via two highway underpasses from Southern Cross Circuit—one on Trackstar Drive, and the other on Sir Llew Edwards Drive—as well as via the 400-space car park.
Gateway East and Gateway West are notable, in particular, for TxDOT's liberal usage of the Texas U-turn at most underpasses of I-10 on this stretch. I-10 is the western terminus for Interstate 20, and the two highways intersect at Scroggins Draw, about 41 miles Southwest of Pecos, at mile marker 186. A small portion of I-10 from Loop 1604 to Downtown San Antonio is known as the Northwest Expressway or the McDermott Freeway, while another portion from downtown to Loop 1604 East is called East Expressway or José López Freeway. In Downtown San Antonio, it has a concurrency with Interstate 35, and throughout most of the northwest side of the city it has a concurrency with U.S. Route 87, which begins in Comfort, before turning off and heading east out of the city.
