The length of the shell attains 7 mm, its diameter 3 mm. (Original description) The small shell is tumidly ovate. It is whitish, thin opaque. It contains 6 whorls, convex, subangulate, neatly keeled.

The size of the shell varies between 13 mm and 30 mm. The solid shell has a rather tumidly conical shape. The whorls are slopingly convex, densely strongly grained, here and there linearly engraved. The lines are obliquely minutely crenulated.

The color is a dead creamy white, with the underlying nacre gleaming through. The spire is high and conical. The apex is flattened, with the minute, smooth, 1¼ embryonic whorl somewhat tumidly projecting. The 8½ whorls show a slow and regular increase.

The shell is depressedly tumidly conoid, umbilicated, solid, rather flat on base. The sculpture is very regular, longitudinal, sharply defined, broad-ridged ribbing. Color is rich olivaceous with ochre tint. It vary in colour and size, often being of a pale ochraceous-grey tint.

The whorls convexly slope next the suture, then become tumidly rounded. They are longitudinally rudely ribbed with ribs irregularly wrinkled and tuberculated. The convex base of the shell is very closely irregularly scaled, with indistinct spiral lirae and fine radiating lamellae. The margin is more or less lobed.

The apex is very small and sharp, flattened on the one side, and with the minute 1¼ embryonic whorl projecting tumidly on the other. The 7½ whorls show a gradual increase. The upper ones are rounded. The later whorls are flat below the suture, then angulated, then flat on the conical slope of the spire, and then very slightly constricted above the carina, very slightly rounded on the base, with a flat and slightly impressed, but sloping border round the outside, sharply angulated at the umbilicus.

There are about two embryonic whorls on the protoconch, which are small, nearly cylindrical, with scarcely appreciable suture, and end in a blunt, round, laterally flattened-down tip. The shell contains 10 whorls in all, rather short and broad, scarcely at all convex. The body whorl is large, being broad and tumid, but not long, with a tumidly conical lop-sided base, ending in a short, broad, flat snout which is abruptly and straight cut off. The suture islinear, but well defined by the swelling of the infrasutural row of tubercles.
