Suwordenco, the last operating ship, arrived in the port of San Pedro, California on 13 January 1930 with an uncertain future. Suwordenco was sold later in 1930 to operate with the Admiral Line of the Pacific Steamship Company and renamed Admiral Halstead.

The dry dock was first used June 23, 1921 when Transmarine corp's SS Suhulco docked. The Kearny yard was with of frontage on the Hackensack River. A wet basin was located at the southern end with a 100-ton 3-legged jib crane for fitting out new ships. On Sunday night, May 18, 1924, a fire destroyed the largest building at the Kearny yard causing an initially estimated $500,000 in damage.

The name was a construct given to all thirty-two ships. It was formed by a standard prefix "Su" and suffix "co" from Submarine Boat Corporation with an intervening "word" based on a person, place or company. Suwordenco was named for company general manager B. L. Worden. The ship, assigned official number 220862 and call letters MCBK, was registered in New York, New York operated by Submarine Boat's shipping subsidiary, Transmarine.

In 2008, the Mapúa-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training (CMET) was established in cooperation with the Philippine Transmarine Carrier, Inc. (PTC), one of the country's leading companies in crewing management. In 2009, MCL's College of Arts and Science (CAS) started the Bachelor of Arts in Communication major in Multimedia Arts. In March 2010, the maritime programs acquired ISO and DNV certifications in March 2010, barely two years after establishment, serving as a testament to the quality of MCL's systems and offerings.

Over 500 entries were submitted from a wide range of contestants ages 7–84. On Tatay's Boat, by Cey Enriquez, was declared winner. The Philippine Transmarine Carriers-Carlos Salinas Jr. Foundation then launched the children's storybook, On Tatay's Boat, in March 2010 at the Manila Ocean Park. At the launch, 80 children from Fort Bonifacio and West Rembo Elementary Schools were invited to listen to five out of the 10 short-listed entries, culminating in the reading of On Tatay's Boat.

On Tatay's Boat is a children's storybook by Cey Enriquez. It is about a boy who joins his father on a fishing trip. Tatay teaches his son great life lessons about respect for nature, the values of friendship, and the difference little acts of goodness can make – through his stories about his underwater friends. In August 2009, the Philippine Transmarine Carriers-Carlos Salinas Jr. Foundation, together with Outlooke Pointe Foundation, launched “Sagip,” a storybook writing competition on the theme “Saving our seas,” to foster English literacy and promote marine environmental awareness.

The Mapúa-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training is a maritime college under Malayan Colleges Laguna established in 2008 in the Philippines which trains students in the fields of Marine Engineering and Marine Transportation. Mapúa Institute of Technology (MIT) is known in the fields of mathematics, science and engineering studies with the Philippine Transmarine Carriers (PTC), a ship manning business and training company. MIT and PTC have joined in the first ever industry and academe cooperation. Malayan Colleges Laguna is the home of the Mapúa–PTC College of Maritime Education and Training.

April 10, 2008 marked an event for Malayan Colleges Laguna, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mapua Institute of Technology, and Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc., one of the country’s largest crew management companies, as they launched the Mapúa-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training. At the ceremonial launching, MCL was represented by Dr. Reynaldo B. Vea, president of Malayan Colleges Laguna and Mapua Institute of Technology, and PTC by Mr. Carlos C. Salinas, its chairman and chief executive officer. The ceremony took place at the PTC Office in First Maritime Place, Makati City.
