Flags are sometimes used for permanent trails, but they are the most vulnerable to the elements of any trail blazing method and may be more difficult to see. Trail flagging is the predominant method to mark a mountain hiking trail in Japan. Red ribbons usually indicate an ascent route while yellow ribbon indicate a descent route.

The significant change in this game is that followers are no longer automatically removed when a terrain feature is completed: they must be removed as a game action, in lieu of placing a new follower that turn. Players may choose to remove a follower from, and score for, a terrain feature before it is completed, albeit for fewer points; followers remaining on the map at the end of the game also suffer a score penalty even if the features they are standing on are completed. ;New World: A Carcassonne Game (Carcassonne: Mayflower, 2008): New World is a stand-alone game that allows players to play Carcassonne in the New World, aka America. Stryker is Professor of Gender and Women's Studies at the University of Arizona, and is the former director of the university's Institute for LGBT Studies. She has served as a visiting professor at Harvard University, University of California, Santa Cruz, and Simon Fraser University. She is an openly lesbian trans woman who has produced a significant body of work about transgender and queer culture. She came out as transgender and began to transition shortly after earning her doctorate. Her scholarly article "My Words to Victor Frankenstein Above the Village of Chamounix", published in 1994, was her first published academic article, and after trail-blazing Australian transgender academic Roberta Perkins who began publishing her research on female sex workers in the 1980s, one of the first articles ever published in a peer-reviewed academic journal by an openly transgender author.

Gharwali Uparwali is considered as a milestone on Indian television on two counts. Firstly, Gharwali Uparwali is Indian television’s first-ever indigenous fantasy-comedy franchise and the instant popularity of this trail-blazing new fantasy-sitcom genre, replete with top-of-the-line visual effects [VFX], and which appealed to children as well as adults at the same time, set a trend that was followed by a plethora of similar shows such as Karishma Ka Karishma, Shararat, Meri Biwi Wonderful, Jeannie aur Juju, et al. Secondly, Gharwali Uparwali, which marked the television debut of Indian film actor Mukul Dev and which also starred critically acclaimed Indian film actress Ratna Pathak Shah, not only rapidly acquired cult status as an urbane and classic sitcom but also instantaneously caught the fancy of almost the entire Indian film industry. Consequently, Gharwali Uparwali went on to become the first and only show ever in Indian television history to feature such a huge ensemble of popular film celebrities.

First implemented in Malaysia, the risk sharing contracts (RSC) departs from the production sharing contract (PSC) first introduced in 1976 and most recently revised last year as the enhanced oil recovery (EOR) PSC which ramps up recovery rate from 26% to 40%. As a performance-based agreement, it is developed in Malaysia for the Malaysian people and private partners to both benefit from successfully and viably monetizing these marginal fields. At the Center for Energy Sustainability and Economics' Production Optimisation Week Asia Forum in Malaysia on 27 July 2011, Finance Deputy Minister YB. Sen. Dato' Ir. Donald Lim Siang Chai expounded that the trail-blazing RSC calls for optimal delivery of production targets and allows for knowledge transfer from joint ventures between foreign and local players in the development of Malaysia’s 106 marginal fields, which cumulatively contain 580 million barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) in today’s high-demand, low-resource energy market.

Simply put, John Fahey pushed the acoustic guitar to its limits via his trail blazing applications and investigative spirit..." In his retrospective review for Allmusic, music critic Richie Unterberger referred to the album as a "hodgepodge of tracks" but also stated, "Nevertheless, it stands as his most, well, far-out work, and one of his most innovative... The six briefer pieces that comprised the rest of the record also broke ground with their unsettling moods and dissonances..." Despite his disdain for hippies and the 1960s hippie culture, then and later in life, The Great San Bernardino Birthday Party & Other Excursions was marked as psychedelic despite Fahey's remonstrances.
