In 2000, the City of Kanata approved a plan to shift the focus on the city's town centre central business district to lands to the north, on the other side of Highway 417 and away from the existing Kanata Town Centre building. The town centre developments to the north initially consisted mainly of big-box store retail development, but subsequent phases included the more pedestrian-oriented urban development originally contemplated for Kanata's core.
This expansion resulted in a number of buildings being demolished and some roads having to be re-routed while one road (Market Street) was completely obliterated. This new road changed the face of Bilston town centre forever. During 1995, the final phase of the Black Country Route between Bilston town centre and Junction 10 of the M6 was completed. This new road has seen a major improvement in the traffic flow around Bilston town centre.

In 1979, Coquitlam Centre Mall was built and became the main catalyst for the creation of a Town Centre. Over the following years, rapid population growth took place as new housing and low rise apartment developments were built over previously forested areas. In the early 2000s, the City of Coquitlam updated the Town Centre Plan.
It includes a number of landmark buildings and urban plazas, including a 'Spanish Steps' style area. A number of high rise city style apartments were constructed on the town centre side of the development. Construction began in early 2006 and opened to the public on 30 October 2008. Controversy surrounded the new build, as several shops already located in the town centre moved to Eagles Meadow and closed their shops in the town centre.
The road network in Ballyclare is centred on Main Street, North End and Market Square in the Town Centre. A number of roads lead into the Town Centre including the Hillhead Road from the south, the Doagh Road from the west and the Rashee, Ballyeaston and Ballycorr Roads from the north and north east. Car parking available in the town centre ranges from surface-level parking to free and paid on-street parking.
Winchcombe has a primary school and a secondary school, Winchcombe School. The latter is in Greet Road, east of the town centre. Winchcombe Abbey Church of England Primary School lies near the town centre in Back Lane, next to Winchcombe Library and Cowl Lane.

The OC Transpo transit hub was moved from the Kanata Town Centre north to the big-box Kanata Centrum retail centre in 2005 with the construction of Terry Fox Station. Rapid- transit route 96 and local route 168 continued to stop at the building entrance of the Kanata Town Centre until 20 April 2014, when OC Transpo stopped diverting buses onto the Town Centre property. Both routes were still available on nearby Katimavik Road until 28 June 2015, when route 168 was re- routed through Beaverbrook and Marchwood-Lakeside. "Dundrum Town Centre" was originally a local government term, defined by Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council, before the shopping centre was built. It was described as "the area between the Luas line, the Dundrum Relief Road, the Taney Road / Upper Churchtown Road junction, and the Wyckham By-Pass Route. Sites along Abbey Road include Dalton town centre, Furness General Hospital, Barrow Park, Barrow-in-Furness railway station, Barrow town centre and several of Barrow's retail parks. Until 1932, the Barrow-in-Furness Tramways Company operated a tram line along Abbey Road from Ramsden Square to the current location of Furness General Hospital.
During the construction of the expressway, Jalan Semantan could not be widened to 6-lane expressway, therefore the highway concessionaire took another main road at Damansara Town Centre for the Eastbound route such as Jalan Johar and Jalan Beringin. As a result, Damansara Town Centre became as the "island" of the separated carriageways.
Almondvale Boulevard Livingston town centre sits on the southern edge of the Almond Valley. It is bounded by a ring road and has been purposely planned, distinguishing it from West Lothian's other town centres. Howden Park is located immediately north of the town centre. Livingston is the sub-regional centre serving West Lothian.
The Fairways estate was built, starting in 1978 and continued into the 1980s. The town centre was redeveloped to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety. Services from the various suburbs generally pass through a bus interchange located at the Gungahlin Town Centre from where they connect with light rail to Civic. Some services operate direct to the Belconnen Town Centre. The Gungahlin bus interchange is located in Hibberson Street.
Bus route 74 - operated by local company Central Buses - provides a direct link from the suburb into the town centre, and also to the nearby Gillity Village. Bus route 22 - operated by Walsall Community Transport - provides a direct link from the suburb to Walsall town centre via The Butts and Mellish Road.
Road – Kidwelly is connected to Llanelli and Carmarthen by the A484 road. Bus/Coach – There are local buses running through Kidwelly, linking the town with Llanelli and Carmarthen, with a main stop in the town centre. Some services were withdrawn in 2014. To the north of the town centre is an area called Ashbrook; here the Carding Mill Valley meets the town, with the stream (known as the Ashbrook as it runs through the town) running between the town's two main recreation fields (named Russell's Meadow and Richard Robinson Field).

The Woden Town Centre was established in 1966, following when Phillip was gazetted on 12 May 1966. Like Phillip, except for Swinger Hill, street names in the Woden Town Centre are associated with the First, Second and Third Fleets. Construction began around 1968, when the Fishburn and Sirius buildings, along with the Alexander and Albemarle Buildings were among the first buildings to be built at the centre. On 26 January 1971, a flash flood occurred near the Woden Town Centre, where 95 mm of rain fell in one hour and killed seven people.
Disability Access – Lytham town centre has limited disabled parking; Blue Badge holders take heed that if the disabled bays are already in use then parking in a non-disabled bay will require the purchase of a parking ticket or risk a parking fine. The town centre non-disabled bays are very narrow therefore getting in and out of the car may prove difficult for people with disabilities. There are other car parks outside the immediate town centre however these may be too far away for those with restricted mobility.
Rouse Hill Town Centre built on the old golf course is the town centre, owned and managed by The GPT Group, is located at the intersection of White Hart Drive and Windsor Roads. The first stage opened in September 2007 with the launch of the town centre on 6 March 2008. The first stage comprises Woolworths and Coles supermarkets, a food terrace, and 80 specialty stores . Metrobus route 100, part of the Crawley Fastway network, runs through Northgate along Woodfield Road, calling at several stops in the neighbourhood. The route serves Maidenbower, Three Bridges, Crawley town centre, the Manor Royal industrial estate and business district, Lowfield Heath, Gatwick Airport and the Surrey towns of Horley and Redhill. Several stops along London Road, the western boundary of the neighbourhood, are served by routes 4 and 5 (Gatwick Airport–Lowfield Heath–Langley Green–Crawley town centre–Three Bridges–Pound Hill) and 10 (Gatwick Airport–Manor Royal–Crawley town centre–Southgate–Broadfield–Bewbush).
Heritage Valley Town Centre is a neighbourhood in southwest Edmonton, Alberta, Canada that was established in 2009 through the adoption of the Heritage Valley Town Centre Neighbourhood Area Structure Plan (NASP). It is located within Heritage Valley and was originally considered Neighbourhood 5 within the Heritage Valley Servicing Concept Design Brief (SCDB). Heritage Valley Town Centre is bounded on the west by the future extension of 127 Street SW, north by the future 25 Avenue SW, east by the future extension of James Mowatt Trail SW, and south by Heritage Valley Neighbourhood 9.
From Volksrust, the N11 proceeds south for 45 kilometres to reach the town of Newcastle (bypassing its town centre). Just before Newcastle, the N11 is joined by the R34 until they split at an off-ramp north-east of the town centre. After being the Newcastle Eastern Bypass, the N11 proceeds south for 95 kilometres, meeting the R68 (which connects to Dundee), to reach the town of Ladysmith. It crosses the Klip River in the town centre and turns westwards to reach an off-ramp intersection with the R103 Road.
In March 2012, it was confirmed that a Wetherspoons Public House would be opened in the Town Centre, along with a Fulton Frozen Foods superstore, as part of the ongoing regeneration plans. In August each year the town centre hosts the Billingham International Folklore Festival - now in its 54th year (2018). Dancers and musicians perform traditional and contemporary dance. In November 2013, a time capsule was buried in front of 'The Family' statue in Billingham Town centre under a stone with the inscription 'FOREVER FORWARD 30 11 2013'.
In 2003 Cookstown District Council in conjunction with Cookstown Town Centre Forum launched Cookstown's ten-year Town Centre Regeneration Strategy and Action Plan which details a range of short, medium and long range regeneration actions. Today, Cookstown has been almost completely regenerated with plans for further regeneration work to be carried out throughout the town centre. Another large retail and office development on Molesworth Street was built in 2007 on the site of the former Market Yard. The old Gunning and Moore Weaving Mill at Broadfields has been transformed into a retail park.
Several new blocks of flats have also been built adjacent to the town centre. Following a public consultation during the winter 2011–12, a 'town centre prospectus' outlining extensive redevelopment plans for the whole centre, including the building of a new cinema, a significant expansion of the available retail space, a new look for Queensmead shopping street and a community-led theatre or cultural venue was published. On the edge of the town centre, is Farnborough Leisure Centre, which has a swimming pool, gym, indoor bowling, squash courts and ten pin bowling.
The Eccles line for the Metrolink was approved in 1996, with the station being built next to on Regent Street in the town centre, next to existing bus stops in the town centre. The station was opened for service on 21 July 2000, while the station was given the official opening, along with the Eccles line, in January 2001, when the Princess Royal visited the town centre. The new bus station was built next to the existing tram stop and opened in 2001, with additional stops and shelter added adjacent to the station in 2005.
Dumfries has a long history as a county town, and as the market town of a surrounding rural hinterland. Dumfries is a relatively prosperous community but the town centre has been exposed to the centrifugal forces that have seen retail, business, educational, residential and other uses gravitate towards the town's urban fringe.DGC -Document: Dumfries Town Centre Urban Design Strategy – Part 1 This was started in the 1980s with the building of the Dumfries bypass. The immediate effect of this was as intended the diversion of transiting traffic away from the town centre.
Wyong has an efficient and compact town centre, housing the Wyong Shire's Council Chambers, Village Central Wyong Shopping Centre, Hunter Institute of TAFE Wyong Campus, Wyong Police Station, Wyong Local Court House, The Art House Wyong Performing Arts and Conference Centre, and banks, government offices, local businesses and community services. Wyong Public School is located on Cutler Drive, north of the town centre. Wyong High School is west of the town centre on Alison Road. An area south-east of the shopping centre has made room for a Tesco superstore, which opened 1 November 2010, rivalling the Sainsbury's store in the town centre and the recent Lidl store in Wollaton Road to the north of the town centre. Beeston Fire Station on an adjacent plot was closed and relocated to a new site on Hassocks Lane. Beeston town centre was redeveloped when the Nottingham Express Transit extension was built, including the construction of a large gym and a Costa Coffee shop. This redevelopment was undertaken by Henry Boot.
The Abbey Walk Shopping Centre was developed on recreational land that runs parallel to the town centre. The expansion not only increased the volume of town centre shops but also provided large scale, convenient parking for the town centre. In more recent years, the Three Lakes Retail Park has opened on the outskirts of town and continues to expand with more developments under construction. Two of the town's supermarkets, Tesco and Morrisons are both looking to expand their stores, the latter meaning the re-siting of the Abbey Primary School.
The route passes through the villages of Waringstown before meeting the A50 from Gilford and Portadown at a roundabout. The A26 then multiplexes with the A50 through the village of Seapatrick on its way into Banbridge town centre. The route splits into two spurs in Banbridge, both ending at the A1, with one carrying traffic north out of the town centre towards Belfast, Lisburn and Dromore, and the other carrying traffic south towards Newry and Dublin. The A50 leaves the A26 in the town centre and travels southeast towards Castlewellan and Newcastle.

Barking Town Centre has a number of recently commissioned sculptures and public art works. Other major roads generally radiate spoke-like from the town centre. Wellesley Road is an urban dual carriageway which cuts through the middle of the central business district. It was constructed in the 1960s as part of a planned ring road for Croydon and includes an underpass, which allows traffic to avoid going into the town centre.

Erin Mills Town Centre has not had many incidents since opening in 1989. But the mall did have a few incidents and they include: A 2012 robbery at Erin Mills Town Centre was the first crime to occur at the mall. The former Whitchurch Town railway station (closed 1960) was closer to the town centre.
The town centre is the commercial centre of the district since shops were built there in pre war. The town centre is known to locals as the 'Main Road' or 'Jalan Besar'. The shops there are mostly run by Chinese traders and suppliers. The shophouses still bear the architecture from the colonial era, when Bahau was a Chinese settlement.
Wythenshawe Town Centre is a tram stop on the Manchester Metrolink Airport Line. It opened on 3 November 2014. It is in Wythenshawe town centre next to shops, the library and Wythenshawe Forum. A new Wythenshawe bus station was built next to the Metrolink station, which replaced existing stops at the former bus station and Wythenshawe Forum.

The Watford Ring Road is a road located in Watford, Hertfordshire, UK. It is numbered A411, and serves as a one way system around the town centre. From here the original A21 cut through the town centre to meet the A259 at a roundabout near Pelham Crescent however since the town centre has been pedestrianised the A21 heads down on the sub- urban streets to the east. From here, the southbound stretch of A21 is reserved for buses only and terminates on the A259.
The Conservatives increased their majority on the council after winning 21 of the 24 seats. They gained both of the seats in Portfield ward from the Liberal Democrats, with Conservatives Margaret Phipps and Lisle Smith being elected. A further gain came in Town Centre where Conservative Gillian Geary took one of the two seats for the ward, while Paul Hilliard was elected for the first time in Grange ward. The Liberal Democrat defeats in Portfield and Town Centre wards reduced them to just one seat on the council, with Peter Hall in Town Centre ward being the party's only councillor.
The Apprentice Boys of Derry, a Protestant fraternity similar to the Orange Order, had planned to march along Garvaghy Road and through the town centre on the afternoon of 1 April (Easter Monday). On 31 March, police decided to ban the march as it believed loyalist paramilitaries were planning to hijack it. That evening, cars with loudspeakers toured Protestant areas and summoned people to gather in the town centre to contest the ban. At 1am, at least 3,000 loyalists gathered in the town centre, forced their way past a small group of police, and began marching along Garvaghy Road.

The Canberra light rail network, also known as Canberra Metro, is a light rail system serving the city of Canberra, Australia. St Peter's Church, Darby End Primrose Hill, despite its name, is an industrial area immediately to the south of the town centre.

Many bus services pass through Ditton. There are two main frequent and reliable routes provided by Arriva Southern Counties. Prior to service 10, Freshbrook's buses were 8: to Link Centre, town centre, Great Western Hospital and Chiseldon and 9/9A/9B: to Link Centre, town centre, Wroughton and Thorney Park. Community and commercial leisure facilities within the town centre include the Rothes Halls complex; Glenrothes' principal theatre, library, civic and exhibition centre. A cinema, restaurant, pub and bingo hall complex are located adjacent to the Kingdom Centre at Carrick Gate/Church Street. Ten-pin bowling facilities are available at Albany Gate. Shops and services have also expanded beyond the original boundaries of the town centre.

Shrewsbury School is a public school. Its building on the skyline constructed circa 1765, is Grade II listed. After leaving Worcester, the A44 continues west past the village of Broadwas, following the River Teme until Knightwick where enters Herefordshire as it climbs over Bringsty Common before descending towards Bromyard. The A44 bypasses Bromyard town centre and heads west over the downs to Bredenbury. It then crosses the River Lugg before meeting the A49 Leominster bypass, where it turns left and heads through the town centre.

The town centre was the first prototype in Singapore. When the Evergreen Extension opened in late 2016, eastbound trains crossed the westbound tracks to access the new northernmost platform (Platform 3) at Lougheed Town Centre station. Trains then operated left-track running to a crossover junction just before Burquitlam Station, where trains crossed back to right-track running. Westbound Millennium Line trains crossed over to left-hand running just south of Burquitlam station, which allowed them to access westbound Platform 2 at Lougheed Town Centre station. This unusual service design allowed same-platform interchange for Expo Line passengers arriving at Lougheed Town Centre and continuing west towards VCC–Clark station on the Millennium Line.
The culvert was extensively modified in the 1960s during the redevelopment of the town centre - it now runs underneath Ainsworth Street and between Blackburn Cathedral and Blackburn Bus Station. In recent years, the town has undergone a phase of regeneration with future proposals to open up parts of the culverted river so that the Blakewater will once again flow openly through areas of the town centre. On the western side of the town centre the Blakewater continues under Whalley Banks and through the Redlam area. Biddulph Community Fire Station in July 2011 The supermarket chain Sainsbury's opened a new store in Biddulph in November 2010. JD Wetherspoons opened The Bradley Green on Biddulph High Street on 3 September 2001. In addition to the supermarket development, a number of derelict and semi-derelict buildings were refurbished or rebuilt by the local Councils and private owners. These were in line with the intentions set out in the Town Centre Area Action Plan (2007),Biddulph Town Centre Area Action Plan, Staffordshire Moorlands District Council (February 2007) which aimed to reverse the spiral of decline that had threatened the long-term viability of the town centre since the early 1990s.
The A5191 goes north-south via the town centre, while the A5112 runs north-south to the east of the town centre. The A5064 is a short, one mile (1.6 km) stretch of road to the southeast of the town centre, called "London Road". Additionally, the A5124, the most recent bypass, was completed in 1998, and runs across the northern edge of the town at Battlefield (connecting the A49/A53 to the A528), though it did exist before as Harlescott Lane (which has since become unclassified). Construction of a major new artery referred to as the North West Relief Road (NWRR) was granted central government funding in April 2019.
The development of the Brackla Housing Estate in the 1980s, housing developments at Broadlands to the south-west of the town centre and the continuing expansion of Brackla to the north-east have caused Bridgend's population to swell dramatically. The trust put forwards its own proposals for the regeneration of Swindon Town Centre in 2004, as it felt the omission of Further Education or University campus' by Swindon Borough Council and the New Swindon Company was flawed. "The trust strongly believed that a town centre university was vital for the successful economic and social regeneration of the central area." The New Swindon Company originally rejected the idea of a campus in its scheme, claiming there was no room in the centre for such a development. Swindon Civic Trust canvassed the local population and identified various sites in the Town Centre where such a complex could be constructed.

Benschop is a town in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Lopik, and lies about 4 km west of IJsselstein. Benschop is an extremely long village: apart from a relatively compact town centre, it consists of a long ribbon (over 8 km long) of houses (mainly farms) on both sides of the Benschopsche Wetering. Richland Town Centre is a power center in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located on U.S. Route 219 at Elton Road and Theatre Drive. The center opened in 2004 on the site of the former Richland Mall, a dead mall which opened in 1974, closed in 1998, and was demolished in 2003. Richland Town Centre currently encompasses more than of retail space with more than 30 stores and restaurants.

Southill, Weymouth is a modern suburb of Weymouth, Dorset, England, and lies about 2 miles (3 km) north of the town centre. It was developed on the western shore of Radipole Lake in several phases from the 1960s onwards.
The majority of Netherton's shops lie along or just off the A459 Halesowen Road. Most of the shops in the centre of Netherton are fairly small including a bakery and a butchers shop. Due to high volumes of traffic passing through the town centre, a bypass was built in the late 1980s to reduce congestion in the town centre. A new, dual carriageway A96 bypass is planned by the Scottish Government. The A940 connects Forres with Grantown-on-Spey, Aviemore and the south directly without the requirement of driving via Inverness. The B9011 connects Forres to Kinloss Barracks and Findhorn Bay.
The Capital Line of the LRT ends at Century Park station in the median of 111 Street just north of its intersection with 23 Avenue. There was a proposal to extend the line east along 23 Avenue to Mill Woods Town Centre; however, it was not adopted in favour of the Valley Line, which runs north from Mill Woods Town Centre, and a possible BRT between the two LRT stations.

A devastating fire in 1846 destroyed the town centre, sparing only a little red wooden cabin which is still standing today. In late 2006 and early 2014 other fires affected the town centre, and construction works are currently ongoing to restore the loss of wooden buildings. The town remained small until the 1960s. The municipal reform of 1971 made it the seat of the much larger Kungsbacka Municipality.

There are two licensed clubs in the Town Centre: the Raiders Club located at the intersection of Hibberson and Gozzard Streets; and Eastlake Gungahlin Club located at the intersection of Hinder and Efkarpidis Streets. The Gungahlin Public Library officially opened in June 2011, and adjoining senior high school opened later that year.
The usage of the station was not very high when it opened in 1982 as the station was located in the northern edge of Tsuen Wan town and the connecting infrastructure was incomplete, making it difficult to attract residents in the town centre to take the MTR. With over 20 years of development, the area around the station gradually took over as the town centre. Several shopping malls were constructed near the station, and an extensive footbridge network was built to connect to nearby shopping malls, the original town centre, and some villages to the north. The station also acts as an important transportation interchange, with numerous bus and minibus routes serving near the station.
The Cwmbran Development Corporation prepared the Master Plan for the development of the New Town which resulted in the creation of the original seven neighbourhoods which contained some local services, and housing and were located within easy reach of the Town Centre. The early years of the New Town were dominated by housebuilding with a lack of services for the town. In 1959 construction of the central retail area began, although considerations of its design began in 1951. The Town Centre was developed as a purpose-built central area by the Development Corporation and the Town Centre has been the focal point for retail development in Torfaen since its inception as a New Town.
Northgate is one of the 13 residential neighbourhoods in Crawley, a town and borough in West Sussex, England. Crawley was planned and laid out as a New Town after the Second World War, based on the principle of self-contained neighbourhoods surrounding a town centre of civic and commercial buildings. Northgate was one of the four in the "inner ring" closest to the town centre, and was the second to be completed: almost all building work on the site took place in the first half of the 1950s. Northgate is bordered by West Green to the west, Langley Green to the north, Three Bridges to the east and the town centre and Southgate to the south.
East Croydon station footbridge, installed 2013 It was announced in 2010 that Network Rail had proposed a £20m project to revamp the station with an additional entrance and a shortcut into the town centre. In September 2010, Croydon Council pledged £6m towards the revamp, ensuring that a bridge was included in the plans. The new bridge was officially opened in December 2013, providing pedestrian transfer between platforms as well as a new entrance at the northern end of the platforms and a more direct link to the town centre. The new walkway may be accessed from the town centre on the west via Lansdowne Walk, but access from the Cherry Orchard Road on the east has not been built.
The Teesquay Millennium Footbridge links the rear of the Castlegate Centre to Castlegate Quay on the north side of the river and then onto Teesdale Business Park and the Durham University - Queen's Campus on the south side in the Ceremonial County of North Yorkshire. Situated at the north west end of the town centre is Wellington Square shopping centre, built upon the old Wellington Street area of the town centre. Opened in 2001 at a cost of £43 million, it provides 46 shop units, anchored by Debenham's car parking. The A6182 is a dual carriageway in Doncaster that runs west and north from Doncaster Sheffield Airport to junction 3 of the M18 and then on to Doncaster town centre. The road is named "White Rose Way" north of the M18, and "Great Yorkshire Way" south of the M18. The road's purpose is to link the town centre with the M18, from which drivers can reach the A1 and M1, and Doncaster Sheffield Airport.
Clay Cross town centre is currently undergoing a £22m redevelopment which has so far included a new supermarket, new bus station and new relief road. The second phase of this is due to start which will see a new parade of shops plus a new medical centre. Eventually the site of the former junior and infant schools which is located in the town centre will be redeveloped. M1 motorway junction 29 is five miles away.

Westfield Woden includes major supermarkets (Woolworths and Coles), department stores such as David Jones and Big W, Hoyts cinemas and many other stores on several levels. Separate buildings house multi-storey car parks. Westfield Woden is intended to increase in size due to a redevelopment plan to improve the town centre.
It is now managed by the Maison Dieu Trust and closely associated to the Faversham Society as a museum of Roman artefacts from the surrounding area. Davington Priory lies to the northwest of the town centre and was founded in the mid 12th century. It is currently owned and occupied by musician and activist Bob Geldof. Brogdale Farm, to the south of the town centre, has hosted the DEFRA National Fruit Collection since 1954.
For three days and three nights the town was under heavy artillery fire, which destroyed most of the buildings of the city. Two hundred people were killed and 90 percent of the town centre and 65 percent of the buildings of the whole town were destroyed; the American army had nearly no losses. Eilenburg was one of the most heavily damaged cities in Germany. The town centre was rebuilt in the 1950s.
West Green is one of the 13 residential neighbourhoods in Crawley, a town and borough in West Sussex, England. Crawley was planned and laid out as a New Town after the Second World War, based on the principle of self-contained neighbourhoods surrounding a town centre of civic and commercial buildings. West Green was the first neighbourhood to be developed, and is one of the smallest and closest to the town centre.
In 2007 a major redesign of the railway station and its surrounding area started. The original railway station building (built in 1878) was demolished to make room for a tunnel underneath the railway and a bike storage facility. The new tunnel links the old town centre with the new district "Kerk en Zanen", which used to be separated from the town centre by the railway. The tunnel and bike storage facility opened in mid 2010.
In 1907, however, the municipality asked for the post office to be moved to the town centre, but the postal authorities in Speyer insisted on it staying in the station, partly because the route from the town centre to the station was not long and because the postal services and railways depended on each other. The post office remained in the station until 1920. The station had been built together with a crossing keeper’s house.
The plans for a new dual carriageway were revived in the early 1980s. This time the planners had decided on a slightly different route, which would run much closer to Bilston town centre. The first phase of the road (to be known as Black County Route) was completed in 1986, though initially running around half a mile east of the A4123. It was extended in 1990 to Oxford Street in Bilston town centre.
Parish church of St James at Taxal The Church of England parish of Whaley Bridge has two churches. St James, Taxal stands on a site a mile from the town centre and was established in the 12th century. Parts of the tower may date back to that time, although much of the church was rebuilt in the 17th and 19th centuries. Holy Trinity, Fernilee was established near the town centre in 1905.
Blackheath has always been a predominantly working class area dominated by modest housing. The town was hard hit by the economic slow- down of the 1970s and unemployment of the early 1980s. However, in the 1990s the town became more prosperous with improving housing stock and some substantial development in town centre stores and improvement in the road network. A J Sainsbury supermarket was also added to the town centre around this time.
Holy Trinity Church on Trinity Hill north of Sutton town centre Holy Trinity Church is one of the oldest churches in the town, having been established around 1300. The church has been expanded over time, notably by John Vesey, Bishop of Exeter who built two aisles and added an organ. His tomb is located within the church. Outside of Sutton town centre, there are numerous other churches, many of which are listed buildings.
Estepona's small and medium-size local shops, particularly in the old town, offer locally made produce and goods. The recently renovated indoor market in the town centre has stalls offering fresh meat, fish and vegetables. Boutiques in the main town centre offer contemporary international clothing brands and other goods. Typical of Spanish towns of this size, a market is held in the main square (on Wednesdays), featuring clothing as well as food and vegetables.
In 1939, Darlington had the most cinema seats per head of population in the United Kingdom. The town centre has undergone a full refurbishment entitled The Pedestrian Heart, which has seen the majority of the town centre pedestrianised. Initially, the project received criticism surrounding changes to public transport, and removal of Victorian features along High Row. There is now growing evidence, however, that the now-completed changes are meeting with local approval.
Kingdom Shopping Centre Retail jobs accounted for approximately 11% of the total number of jobs in the local economy in 2011. The majority of shopping, retail services and administrative facilities in Glenrothes are concentrated in the town centre (central business district). With approximately 120 shop units the Kingdom Centre provides the largest concentration of shops in the town centre. New shop and restaurant units were delivered at North Street in late 2018/early 2019.
Carluke town centre Today Carluke's population stands at 13,300 and has 6 primary schools. Carluke Streetscape, a £2.35M town-centre redevelopment project funded by South Lanarkshire Council, was completed in April 2006. As a result, after many years of pedestrianisation, unidirectional vehicular traffic is now permitted along the town's High Street and Hamilton Street outwith business hours. Carluke high School was also redeveloped to make it bigger and more up to date in 2008.
State Highway 30 runs southwest to northeast through the town. It enters the town in the southwest (running concurrently with SH 5), before crossing the southern suburbs to the shore of Lake Rotorua east of the town centre. It then runs through the suburb of Te Ngae, before splitting off SH 33 to continue eastwards. State Highway 30A runs northwest to southeast, connecting State Highways 5 and 30 with each other via the town centre.
Lissett is a village in the Holderness area of the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated south of Bridlington town centre and north-east of Beverley town centre on the A165 road that connects the two towns. Together with Ulrome it forms the civil parish of Lissett and Ulrome. In 1823 Lissett, with a population of 95, was in the parish of Beeford, and the Wapentake and Liberty of Holderness.
They shared an example of a town centre's management team developing synergy between the surrounding location and the retail stores. A location bound with historical richness could provide an opportunity for the town centre and local businesses to connect at deeper level with their customers. They suggested that town centre management and retail outlets should work cooperatively to develop an effective customer experience. This will result in all stores benefiting from customer retention and loyalty.
The Evergreen Extension (previously known as the Evergreen Line and, prior to that, part of the Millennium Line Phase II project) is a extension of the Millennium Line. It extends the SkyTrain network from Lougheed Town Centre in Burnaby to Lafarge Lake–Douglas in Coquitlam, with the addition of six new SkyTrain stations and major upgrades to two existing stations (Commercial–Broadway Station and Lougheed Town Centre). It opened on December 2, 2016.
John Platt was elected in 1865 to become MP for Oldham, and was re-elected in 1868; he remained in office until his death in 1872. A bronze statue of Platt existed in the town centre for years, though was moved to Alexandra Park. There have been recommendations for it to be returned to the town centre. Abraham Henthorn Stott, the son of a stonemason, was born in nearby Shaw and Crompton in 1822.
As with many other market towns, the rise of out-of-town retail parks with free parking caused a decline in town centre trade; Sainsbury's, Tesco, Halfords, and Next moved to newer larger premises out-of-town. More recently, major retailers Asda, Wilko and Aldi have opened stores in the town centre. Whitbread PLC, which manages Premier Inn, Beefeater, Brewers Fayre and Table Table, is headquartered on the Houghton Regis/Dunstable industrial estate.
Kilmarnock railway viaduct Constructed from 1843 until 1850, the Kilmarnock railway viaduct is a bridge crossing the town centre of Kilmarnock. It is a most distinctive feature of the town centre with 23 masonry arches. It was built in the 1840s to enable the Glasgow - Kilmarnock line to continue to . At present, the viaduct is currently lit by blue lights when it is dark, which makes it more of a noticeable feature in the town.

The first part of Ang Mo Kio was being built by 1979, and the Yio Chu Kang part of the town was completed in 1981. The key features of the new town were its unique housing and estate designs, segregated pedestrian pathways, Busway, extensive landscaped green space, separate industrial areas and new town centre. The new town centre was designated at the geographical heart of the expanded town with Shopping City, an American style enclosed mall, as its focus. This was a source of conflict between Arthur Ling, the new town Master Planner, and Fred Roche, Chief Architect. Whereas Ling envisaged a centre reminiscent of a citadel or acropolis at the base of Halton Castle, Roche preferred to expand the existing town centre, partly to placate the Urban District Council and existing traders. The new Halton site was favoured and Shopping City opened in 1972.
Hong Kah Point is the town centre of Hong Kah, located at the junction of Jurong West Avenue 1 and Jurong West Street 52, accessible by all the bus services that ply through the precinct. The town centre boasts the 'Jurong West Street 52 Market and Food Centre', which was built in 1985 and was the latest hawker centre in Singapore to be built over the past 20 years, before the next hawker centre opened in Bukit Panjang. Apart from the hawker centre, the shops in this town centre provides Postal, banking, dining, baking, dental, medical, D.I.Y, education and fashion services to meet the daily needs of the residents. The town council office and HDB service centre are also located here.
The second phase of the Millennium Line was to be an extension from Lougheed Mall to Coquitlam (then known as the Port Moody–Coquitlam (PMC) Line), which would have provided a "one-seat ride" from Coquitlam to VCC–Clark station. A short spur and switches to the PMC Line were installed to the east of Lougheed Town Centre station and a third platform was roughed-in in anticipation of the extension. Phase II was placed on hold following a change in provincial government. A SkyTrain extension from Lougheed Town Centre station to Coquitlam Town Centre was proposed when the original Millennium Line was built and the necessary junction tracks for such an extension were built at the station during its initial construction.
In 2018, alongside other towns and cities in the UK, Northampton suffered from a significant decline in the fortunes of its retail economy. It had seen the closure of several major town centre stores, including House of Fraser, British Home Stores, and Marks & Spencer. Alongside that homeless people sleeping rough, some in shop doorways, contributed to what was regarded as a poor image of the town. To highlight the issues, the need for regeneration of Northampton town centre, and to provide a platform for a positive approach, BBC Radio Northampton launched an initiative using the title and hashtag "Love Northampton". On 28 November 2018, the radio station held a debate, open to the public, in All Saints’ Church in the town centre.
The Millennium Line has 17 stations, three of which are transfer stations with the Expo Line (Commercial–Broadway, Production Way–University, and Lougheed Town Centre) and two which connect with the West Coast Express commuter train (Moody Centre and Coquitlam Central). The original Millennium Line's stations were designed by British Columbia's top architects and are very different from those on the Expo Line. In 2004, Busby and Associates Architects, designers of the Brentwood Town Centre station in Burnaby, were honoured for their work with a Governor General's Medal in Architecture. Construction on the Millennium Line's Evergreen Extension, from Lougheed Town Centre in Burnaby to Lafarge Lake–Douglas in Coquitlam, was completed in 2016 and it was opened for revenue service on December 2, 2016.

Northgate was to cover immediately north of the expanded town centre. Anticlockwise from the south, the neighbourhood is bounded by The Boulevard (forming the northern limit of the town centre), Northgate Avenue (the A2004), Crawley Avenue (the A2011) and London Road, historically the main north–south route through the town but now bypassed and downgraded. When the New Town was planned, each neighbourhood was allocated a colour, which appears on street name signs together with the neighbourhood's name.
A four-star hotel recently opened next to Rugby Park, the home of Kilmarnock F.C., and new restaurants, such as Merchants and the Jefferson Restaurant, have opened in the town centre. Regeneration activities have been discussed for Kilmarnock town centre; in early 2006, an application to Historic Scotland's Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme was successful, and in July 2006 an application under the Heritage Lottery Fund's Townscape Heritage Initiative Scheme was pending. Work has finished on a quality housing development on the site of the former Kilmarnock Infirmary, north of the town centre. In the past there have been major efforts to improve the quality of life for residents in the town's worst housing estates, especially in parts of Shortlees, Longpark and Onthank.
The town centre contains the largest number of high street multiples of any town in the Borough of Pendle. Stores currently include: Boots, Wilko, Specsavers, Home Bargains, Peacocks, Costa Coffee, Greggs, Post Office, and Martin McColl. The Pendle Rise Shopping Centre has been the focal point of the town centre for over 50 years. It opened as the Arndale Centre in June 1967 and was rebranded as the Admiral Shopping Centre before taking its current name.
Carbrain is supposed to have the Town Centre as its focus, so there was thought to be no need for serious scale entertainment or grocery shops. Underpasses between Glenhove and Torbrex Roads Carbrain was split into two sections: North and South. North Carbrain, which was built first, included Glenhove Road, Torbrex Road, Stonylee Road, Craigyburn Road, Beechwood Road and Glenacre Road. North Carbrain is within five minutes walking distance from the Town Centre, health centre and sports centre.
The B5302, now called King Street, continues in an easterly direction out of the town centre, running almost parallel with the Cumbria Coast Line. It crosses over the railway line approximately one mile after leaving the town centre, and this marks the eastern terminus of the road at the junction with the A596. King Street, now without the B5302 designation, continues in an easterly direction for another two-and-a-quarter miles, terminating at the A595 at Woodcock Wood.
A new town square featuring shops, restaurants and apartments is currently under construction between the central library and town hall. The Chapel Arches retail and residential development is under construction. Part of the scheme involves restoring the old Thames tributaries which run through a historic section of the town centre. The redevelopment will bring an attractive waterfront quarter with new apartments, boutique stores, restaurants, bars, and cafes are to be a feature this new part of the town centre.
In 1892 the school withdrew from its town centre site to a position about half a mile north-west of the town centre. Around this time the school took fee-paying boarders, had a strong reputation for mathematics and science, and a tradition of sending students to the University of Cambridge. The school remains on this site. The school was originally an all-boys grammar school, with girls being admitted for the first time in 1907.
The town was only ever meant to be there on a temporary basis until the completion of the proposed dams. The city planner Ernst Plischke who emigrated from Austria in 1939 developed a plan for the town centre of Mangakino, which was put into action in 1947–1948. Swindon has an oceanic climate (Cfb in the Köppen climate classification), like the vast majority of the British Isles, with cool winters and warm summers. The nearest official weather station is RAF Lyneham, about west southwest of Swindon town centre. The weather station's elevation is 145 metres, compared to the typical 100 metres encountered around Swindon town centre, so is marginally cooler throughout the year. The absolute maximum is 34.9 °C (94.8 °F) recorded during August 1990.
Hindley covers an area , mostly pasture and the underlying rocks are the coal measures. Some ancient woodland remains today in Borsdane Wood which is protected as a Local Nature Reserve. Hindley town centre is approximately three miles east of Wigan and adjoins Leigh on its south east side. The pattern of roads is little changed from medieval times, the road from Prescot to Bolton, A58, and road linking Ormskirk with Boothstown, the A577 cross near the town centre.
It passes the Esso Brookside Service Station and the headquarters of East Midlands Councils, and Melton Borough Council on the right. It meets the A607 and A6006 at traffic lights and crossroads. Previously the road went straight through the town centre, which is now pedestrianised as Nottingham Street. The southbound road now follows the A607 to the east on Norman Way, then follows Thorpe End and Sherrard Street to the west, in a convoluted route through the town centre.
The A412 is a road in England between Slough and Watford. It was the main artery for this corridor and used to continue to St Albans prior to the construction of the M25. It provides interchange to the A4 in Slough, the A40/M40 at the Denham Roundabout, the M25 in Maple Cross, the A404 in Rickmansworth town centre, the A411 on a partially grade separated dual carriageway in Watford town centre, and the A41 in North Watford.
The redevelopment of the existing town centre Tesco store in Chalon Way into alternative high quality retail use, enhancing the retail available in St Helens town centre. 3\. The development of the existing St. Helens site at Knowsley Road to create high quality residential accommodation, regenerating the local area. The club stressed that if one of the three parts fell through, the whole project would have been in jeopardy. However councillors in St Helens approved the new Saints’ stadium.
It features local bands and is supported solely by fundraising events held throughout the year. The town has a number of historic pubs and eating places, most of them near the town centre. It also has a "Broadplace" facility, a small centre for community usage of laptop computers, help and guidance and free Internet access. Broseley Library, which also has computer access, is located to the south of the town centre, next door to the health centre.
The Dyers Almshouses are a group of 30 almshouses belonging to the Worshipful Company of Dyers, a London Livery Company. Built in three stages between 1939 and 1971, they are located close to the town centre of Crawley, a New Town and borough in West Sussex, England. The distinctive Arts and Crafts-influenced buildings are arranged around a courtyard on a street close to Crawley town centre, and have been granted conservation area and locally listed building status.

The GP surgery also has a small Boots pharmacy in addition to the larger Boots store in the town centre. Felling has one small dentist practice located on the B1426 main commuter road that connects Heworth to Gateshead town centre Levels of unemployment in Felling are high.
Bus route 4, operated by Stagecoach Midlands, connects the railway station with Rugby town centre and the suburbs of Cawston and Bilton. Bus route D1 and D2, operated by Stagecoach Midlands, previously connected the railway station with Rugby town centre, now replaced on this section by services 1 and 2, which connects with buses D1 and D2 to the suburbs of Barby, Braunston, Brownsover, DIRFT, Hillmorton, and Kilsby. The service then continues onto serve the nearby town of Daventry.
Bus route number 12 operates from Bradley Park to Grimsby town centre, Cleethorpes and New Waltham, while route 3 runs from Bradley Cross Roads through Nunsthorpe, linking it with Grimsby town centre and Cleethorpes. Both services are provided by Stagecoach Grimsby-Cleethorpes. Adjacent to Bradley Park is the Bradley Recreation Ground, with its state-of-the-art community sports stadium, home to amateur sides Grimsby Borough and Cleethorpes Town football clubs.Bradley Football Development Centre plays first game.
The Malvern extension would be long. The extension to Malvern Town Centre would have seven stops: at Pan Am Drive, Sheppard/Morningside, Brenyon Way, Murison Boulevard, Sheppard/Neilson, Wickson Trail, and Malvern Town Centre. In April 2019, Doug Ford announced a plan for transit which included the Eglinton West LRT, the Scarborough Subway Extension, the Yonge North Extension and the Ontario Line. The Eglinton East LRT was noticeably not included and was left off the accompanying map.
However studies show that only about a quarter of the town's population do their non-food shopping in the town. Banks and building societies have branches in the town centre. Markets are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays in the town centre: some in the Market Yard car park, and others in the former agricultural warehouse, the Cheese and Grain. From March to December, on the first Sunday of each Monday, a street market known as 'The Independent' is held.
Development in the Bayswater town centre and around Meltham railway station was a contentious issue in the 2010s and 2020s. The City of Bayswater started work on a structure plan for the Bayswater town centre in November 2015. The structure plan would plan for building heights, land uses and connections for cars, pedestrians and cyclists. A draft for the structure plan was released in July 2017, and public comments on it were invited in August 2017.
In Southend, the short dual carriageway Queensway bypasses the original route through the town centre, and while much of this is pedestrianised, it can be followed on foot. East of the town centre, Shoebury Road was bypassed by the single-carriageway Bournes Green Chase, just a few yards to the north, linking Southchurch with Shoeburyness. Finally, the terminus of the A13 has been truncated, the road formerly ending on Shoeburyness High Street at the railway station.
It lies south of Central London, and the earliest settlement may have been a Roman staging post on the London-Portslade road, although conclusive evidence has not yet been found. The main town centre houses a great variety of well-known stores on North End and two shopping centres. It was pedestrianised in 1989 to attract people back to the town centre. Another shopping centre called Park Place was due to open in 2012 but has since been scrapped.
The old route used to go into the town centre and rejoin the current route at the junction with the A1039 road. The A1039 now merges with the A165 for a short distance. The road continues through open countryside until it reaches the outskirts of Bridlington. The route diverts away from the original road that went into the town centre, now the A1038, and instead goes around the western side to the junction with the A164 near Bridlington Hospital.

It is served by GO Transit buses, Coach Canada, Megabus, Can- ar, and other private coach services. The terminal is adjacent to the Scarborough Town Centre and Scarborough Civic Centre.
Wainwright Bridge, in October 2017King George's Hall The Wainwright Bridge was opened in June 2008. The £12 million bowstring arch bridge crosses the East Lancashire and Ribble Valley railway lines west of the town centre and forms part of the A6078 Town Centre Orbital Route. The bridge is named after Alfred Wainwright following a vote by the townspeople. Blackburn Arena, which houses an ice rink and is home to the Blackburn Hawks ice hockey team, opened in 1991.
Erin Mills Town Centre has been used as a filming location for several films, including Noam Chomsky's Manufacturing Consent: Noam Chomsky and the Media (1992), Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001), and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (2004) starring Lindsay Lohan. The now-closed Erin Mills Cineplex Odeon theatre was also used as a set for the film Dirty Work (1998). Erin Mills Town Centre has served as the scene for the Canadian game show Instant Cash.

High Street, which is the widest in the UK, heads north through the town centre, from the junction of Bridge Road and Yarm Lane, culminating at Maxwells Corner, where Norton Road and Bishopton Lane begin. Dovecot Street runs west from the midway point of High Street and further north, Church Road extends east toward Northshore and the River Tees.
It starts a descent into Rugby as a dual carriageway with 5 local access roundabouts. Approaching the Town Centre the road becomes single carriageway again and crosses under the West Coast Main Line. It passes the main Town Centre to the West and heads Southwards out of the town towards Dunchurch after which it passes over the M45 and once again becomes a rural road for its final length to terminate on the A423 Southam bypass.
Objections to a canal route through Swindon town centre are believed to arise from misconception that canals contain "stagnant water". However canals are permanently moving water slowly downstream, and are thus not stagnant. The passage of boats keeps the water stirred up making it muddy-looking, but this is essential to prevent the growth of weeds. In January 2008 Swindon Council considered a report, prepared by their consultants, on the feasibility and implications of restoring the town centre route.

The town centre is home to several national high street retailers and chain stores including Clinton Cards, GAME, House of Fraser, JD Sports, Sports Direct (formerly JJB), W H Smiths and Wilko; up until January 2008, it also had a Woolworths. Cwmbran railway station () is in the northeast of Cwmbran town centre, within five minutes' walking distance. It is part of the British railway system owned by Network Rail and is managed by Transport for Wales, who operate all trains serving it. It lies on the Welsh Marches Line from Newport to Hereford. The station was opened at this site in 1986 to serve the commuter route to Newport and Cardiff, and shoppers to the town centre.
Crompton Pool was a swimming pool built in 1899 on Farrow Street in the town centre and served the community until its closure in July 2014 and subsequent demolition in February 2016. Crompton Cricket Club, is located on Glebe Street. Playhouse 2 is a 156-seat theatre in the heart of Shaw and Crompton town centre, which used to be an Odeon cinema. It has been the home of the Crompton Stage Society, an amateur theatre company, since 1966.
Brandlesholme is a suburb north of Bury in Greater Manchester, England, half- way between Bury town centre and Ramsbottom. Brandlesholme Road (B6214) is the main road through the area. At its furthermost south junction it meets with Tottington Road and Crostons Road, providing access to Bury Town Centre. Northwards at a stretch of open farmland, the road forks, bearing left to Greenmount with links to Tottington and Bolton, and right to Holcombe Brook, Summerseat and Ramsbottom.
Compassvale is a neighbourhood of Sengkang New Town, and is located between Rivervale and Anchorvale. The house numbers of the public apartment blocks in Compassvale begin with the number '2' (2xx). Compassvale encompasses the Sengkang Town Centre. The existing housing estates nearer to the Sengkang Town Centre were completed by the Housing and Development Board (HDB) in 1999 and 2000, while those in Anchorvale, many of which are under Build-To-Order, are being developed or nearing completion.
Cusack Park on Francis Street in the town centre is the main county Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) playing grounds and the home of Clare GAA. Ennis has numerous football clubs (soccer, GAA and rugby) that play in various leagues from schoolboys to senior. The Lees Road Sports and Amenity Park, 1 km from the town centre, is set in of wood and parkland. There is ample car parking and the main building includes modern changing rooms, showers and toilets.

Out-of-town development has taken place. In 2008 Meadowland retail park opened with an Argos Superstore, Mattressman, Carpetright, Halfords and The Original Factory Shop. Tesco also extended their store to a significantly larger store next to B & M. The town centre has several bars and restaurants.
Town centre of Neston, Cheshire, England. The first example in the UK of a purposely planned commercial or town centre is Newcastle's Grainger Town in the 1840s. As changes in shopping patterns occurred, town centres have been forced to adapt and meet those changes. Comprehensive redevelopment of many British town centres occurred in the 1960s and 1970s, which often resulted in development of larger store formats, often with modernist styles of architecture significantly different from their surroundings.
The Diamond is the main square in Donegal Town. It forms the town centre with an extensive pedestrian area with seating and trees. It includes a prominent 'obelisk' celebrating 'the Four Masters', four Gaelic historians led by Brother Mícheál Ó Cléirigh who wrote The Annals of the Four Masters in the 1630s. The Plantation of Ulster and the establishment of 'plantation towns' often included a meeting area or market place (often with a 'mercat cross') in the town centre.
The Rushes shopping centre has also been built on the site of the former bus station and is occupied by national chains. In June 2006, Worthing Borough Council agreed a masterplan for the town's regeneration, focused on improving the town centre and seafront. A new £150 million development is proposed for Teville Gate, between Worthing railway station and the A24 at the northern approach to the town centre. It is expected to include two residential towers, a multiplex cinema, hotel and conference and exhibition centre. The developers are expected to apply for planning permission in the summer of 2010.

Until 1905, the town's municipal area was limited to the area on the Lauter's left bank between Rutsweiler to the south, Lohnweiler to the north and Aschbach to the west. According to the original Bavarian cadastral survey (about 1840), Wolfstein's area measured 616 ha. In the 174 houses at that time lived 826 persons. Spreading out from the old town (known as the Flecken, meaning “market town”) in the hollow, the settled parts of town lay in the 19th century on the slopes between the Tauchental (dale) and Schlossgasse (or Obergasse – a lane), on the narrow strips of land either side of Lauterstraße (or Untergasse) and on Hauptstraße (“Main Street”, but in an outlying neighbourhood). Worth mentioning are several old buildings in Wolfstein: the Evangelical church (1868, beside the town hall), the Catholic rectory (1845, outside town centre), the Evangelical rectory (1899, outside town centre), the court and prison building (1902/1903, outside town centre) and the former Kurhaus Lautertal (spa hotel, 1862, renovated in 1912, outside town centre).

From Breyten, the R36 heads southwards for 20 kilometres to reach its southern terminus, at a junction with the N17 National Route about 8 kilometres north- east of the town centre of Ermelo.
The Gurnee Town Centre, a shopping district in West Gurnee Six Flags Great America Hurricane Harbor at Great America Gurnee is home to Gurnee Mills, Six Flags Great America, and Great Wolf Lodge.
The designer outlet mall, Livingston Designer Outlet, contains a VUE multiplex cinema, a food court with many chain fast-food outlets, bars, restaurants and cafés, as well as around 100 popular outlet stores. Livingston town centre has an abundance of car parking. The south western edge of the town centre is dominated by retail parks. These contain a number of well-known retailers such as Pets at Home, PC World & Currys as well as fast-food outlets including: KFC and Frankie & Benny's.
Until 2016, there was also a large B&Q; in the south- west of the town centre, as well as a large Morrisons supermarket; which remains open. The Homebase store closed in July 2010 and Argos moved to premises across the road. The former Homebase and Argos stores were converted into a large Sainsbury's supermarket that opened in December 2010. Also in the town centre, are discount supermarkets such as Aldi, and a Lidl which is located beside the Almondvale Stadium.
In January 2016, Jim McMahon, MP for Oldham West and Royton, proposed two loop extensions to the metrolink system around Oldham. The link would add a spur from Westwood tram stop to Middleton town centre, before joining the Bury Line near , in line with the proposed Middleton extension. The Ashton Loop would extend the line beyond Ashton town centre to Oldham Mumps. Both would connect Rochdale to its neighbouring towns without the need to travel in and out of Manchester city centre.
It is a habitat of many animals, fish and insects. The 12th-century Clattern Bridge, one of the oldest road bridges in England, crosses the river in the southwest of Kingston town centre. The Coronation Stone, now sited close to the river in Kingston, is believed to have been used for the coronation of Saxon kings in the 10th century. It was used as a horse mounting block until 1850 when it was mounted on a plinth in the town centre.
The Orchard Theatre Central Park The Orchard Theatre, located in the town centre, is a fully professional theatre, providing audiences with a large range of drama, dance, music and entertainment. The Mick Jagger Centre, within the grounds of Dartford Grammar School on Shepherds Lane, was completed in 2000 and provides facilities for community arts across a wide region. library and Museum are located on Market Street. Central Park is a formal park in the town centre, used for various community events.
The town is an important junction point on the railway network, as it lies at the point where the Reading to Taunton line, forming a link from London Paddington to Penzance, intersects the Wessex Main Line, linking Bristol and Bath Spa to Salisbury, Southampton and London Waterloo. Westbury railway station is northwest of the town centre. A smaller station, Dilton Marsh, is to the southwest of the town centre between the suburbs of Dilton Marsh and Westbury Leigh; this is a request stop.
The original Friars Square (or Friar's Square) was created in the 1960s as the Aylesbury Town Centre Redevelopment. It transformed the south-west part of the town centre including the Market Square and Silver Street areas. Opened in 1967, it included a number of shops in an open-air pedestrian only area, and included a new location for the town's market. The Cadena cafe, which later became a Wimpy, was housed in a modern architectural pavilion over the open market.

The Evergreen Extension (previously known as the Evergreen Line) is a long extension of the Millennium Line of Metro Vancouver's SkyTrain rapid transit system. The extension runs from Lougheed Town Centre in Burnaby to Lafarge Lake–Douglas in Coquitlam and included six new SkyTrain stations and an upgraded existing station (Lougheed Town Centre) on the Millennium Line. It began operations on December 2, 2016. Since the extension opened, the Millennium Line has operated between VCC–Clark and Lafarge Lake–Douglas.
Bewsey and Whitecross is a ward to the west of the town centre of Warrington, England (and includes much of the town centre). The town's General Hospital is within the ward. The area is served by the 16/16A bus route from Dallam to Warrington.Warrington Borough Transport Sankey Valley Park runs through Bewsey, there are community centres at Whitecross and Bewsey Park, and a community and health hub is to be built to serve the former council estates of Bewsey and Dallam.
The government banned prostitution from the town centre, but this was unenforceable. The governor appointed a commission that included the police, the public health department and the clergy with a view to solving the prostitution problem. They concluded that the best alternative was to concentrate prostitution in one location away from the town centre, The plan was for a complex of appeasements where prostitutes could work independently. On May 30, 1949, the complex named Campo Alegre (also called Le Mirage) was opened.
Chaucers Lane, Woodstock The River Glyme, in a steep valley, divides the town into New and Old Woodstock. The town has two main suburbs: Hensington to the south and east of the town centre, and Old Woodstock to the north. The town hall of Woodstock was built in 1766 to designs by Sir William Chambers, and there are a number of 17th- century buildings in the town centre. The almshouses were built in 1798 on behalf of Caroline, duchess of Marlborough.
