John Stephen (28 August 1934 – 1 February 2004), dubbed by the media "The £1m Mod" and "The King Of Carnaby Street", was one of the most important fashion figures of the 1960s. He was also the pioneer of the high turnover, disposable fashion ethos of such contemporary operators as Topman. Sir Philip Nigel Ross Green (born 15 March 1952) is a British billionaire businessman, and the chairman of Arcadia Group, a retail company that includes Topshop, Topman, Wallis, Evans, Burton, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins and Outfit. The defunct BHS chain was also part of the group. Green has been involved in a number of controversies during his career, including his actions prior to the demise of BHS. In October 2016, the House of Commons approved a measure to ask the Honours Forfeiture Committee to strip Green of his knighthood for his role in the downfall of BHS.

The new year brought the Rumble Strips their first move into the charts, with their release of "Alarm Clock" on 19 March 2007 reaching No. 41 in the UK Singles Chart. It was in this year, that they were voted number 10 in BBC's "Sounds of 2007". The band were asked by NME to play their biggest headline tour to date, as headliners of the 2007 Topman NME New Music Tour throughout May 2007.The tour saw them play a number of venues around the country with other new bands Pull Tiger Tail, Blood Red Shoes and The Little Ones.

The designers at Timo Weiland have stated that collaborative efforts are great learning experiences for them in which one can see how a different company operates and how their creative processes work. Timo Weiland has participated in various collaborations with companies such as: Tsubo shoes, Topman/Topshop, Bing Bang jewelry with Anna Sheffield, Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Banana Republic. In November 2016, the company partnered with Zenni Optical to open its first brick-and-mortar location in New York City. A music video for the single, directed by Alan Del Rio, was released on 7 October 2012. In October 2012, Spector embarked on promotional tours in Singapore and Malaysia respectively, sponsored by Topman and Universal Music Asia. Following this, the band completed their third UK tour, supported by British indie rock bands Swim Deep, Splashh and LULS. Spector performed at XFM's 'Winter Wonderland' event in December 2012, alongside acts including Bloc Party, Maxïmo Park and Everything Everything. In March 2013, the band performed as main support act for Suede at an Alexandra Palace concert.

The Wonderful Flight to the Mushroom Planet is a children's science fiction novel written by Eleanor Cameron, illustrated by Robert Henneberger, and published by Little, Brown in 1954. It is set in Pacific Grove, California, and on Basidium, a tiny habitable moon of Earth, invisible from the planet in its orbit 50,000 miles away. The "Mushroom Planet", visited by the protagonists David Topman and Chuck Masterson, is covered in various types of mushrooms and is populated by little green people who are in a state of distress. The Wonderful Flight was published under the Atlantic Monthly Press imprint of Little, Brown in September 1954, and it received a starred review from Kirkus Reviews.

Personal judgment is required to interpret the ill-defined term smart casual based on its context, theme, people, location, weather and spirit. Italian fashion house Brioni explains smart casual is not an issue of inventory or classification but rather knowledge and good taste to understand the environment; demonstrating that smart casual during summer in Sardinia is different to smart casual during winter in Toronto. Christopher Shannon is an English fashion designer specialising in menswear. A Liverpudlian, Shannon graduated from Central Saint Martins with an MA in Menswear, studying under Louise Wilson. After working with the designers Judy Blame, Kim Jones, William Baker, and the fashion label Helmut Lang, he launched his business at the end of the first decade of the 2000s with sponsorship from NEWGEN MEN, a programme launched by the British Fashion Council and Topman for supporting up-and-coming British menswear designers. When Shannon presented his Spring/Summer 2011 collection at Men's Day at London Fashion Week in September 2010, the fashion journalist Charlie Porter named him as one of the two key designers of the day for his contemporary, colour-blocked streetwear-influenced pieces.

Spillers Records Cardiff is one of the top ten retail destinations in the UK, with three main shopping arcades; St. David's Centre, Queens Arcade and the Capitol Centre. The current expansion of St. David's Centre as part of the St. David's 2 project is allowing a huge piece of land between The Hayes and Charles Street to be demolished and redeveloped, bringing around 200 shops, flats and a John Lewis department store to the city. As well as these modern shopping arcades, the city is also home to many Victorian shopping centres, such as High Street Arcade, Castle Arcade, Wyndham Arcade, Royal Arcade and Morgan Arcade. Queen Street is home to the main chain stores such as Topshop, Topman, Boots, Gap, Dorothy Perkins, Primark, and Zara to name a few.

In 1971 the Group acquired Evans, a major operator in the field of fashionable clothing for women wearing larger-sized clothes. In the 70s, and as a complement to the suit business, the Group began to develop itself significantly in mainstream clothing retailing by beginning to target chains to precisely defined markets - for example it launched Topman for young men in 1970. This development capitalised on the success of Topshop in catering for a young, fashion-savvy audience, and reflected the growth in men's casual clothing, with formal-wear sales declining due to the trend for more casual general clothing. The firm also expanded its horizons by acquiring businesses outside its fashion heartland, at one point owning Ryman, the stationery chain, but later scaled back to focus principally on clothing.

Around 350 stores were transferred from one of the company's brands to another. Alfred Karindi was born on 30 May 1901 in the village of Kõnnu, Illuka Parish. In 1920 he entered the Tartu Higher School of Music where he studied organ under Johannes Kärt and composition under Heino Eller. He graduated in 1927, and then studied under August Topman and Artur Kapp as an external student of organ and composition at Tallinn Conservatory, graduating in 1931. He belonged to the "Tartu school" of musicians who studied under Heino Eller, others being Eduard Tubin, Eduard Oja, Olav Roots and Karl Leichter. Karindi taught music at the Tartu 2nd primary school (1921–1927), Tartu Higher Music School (1925–1928) and University of Tartu (1928–1932). Menswear brands such as Tommy Bahama, Topman, Barutti Brooks Brothers, Nordstrom, Thomas Pink, J. Crew Nigel Cabourn, Hugo Boss, Paul Smith, Primark and Prince of Scots use the fabric for jackets, outerwear and suiting. Footwear brands have also used Harris Tweed, most notably Nike, Dr Martens, Aigle, Red Wing Shoes, and Clarks.

Principles was a UK-based fashion retailer founded in 1984. The firm was launched by the Burton Group (now Arcadia Group) as an attempt to capitalise on the new modern trends in fashion; the mid-1980s was the boom era for the yuppie, a new upmarket cultural movement, and power dressing was a key trend: at the time, the Group's ladies' fashion operations (chiefly Dorothy Perkins) were more mainstream and traditional. Principles was the first newly launched chain from the firm since Topman in 1978, with the majority of the company's growth over the years having come from acquisitions. In 1985 a sister brand aimed at upmarket male shoppers, Principles For Men, was launched; this chain was phased out in the late 1990s/early 2000s as part of a scaling-back of the group's less successful operations.

For Autumn-Winter 2013, Green presented his first collection as part of a Topman/Fashion East initiative hosted by the British Fashion Council's London Collections: Men event. His work was widely commended in the fashion press, although the wearable wooden sculptures he showed were made fun of in a Daily Mail headline, and his debut collection was publicly mocked on national television by the event ambassador, David Gandy. Despite this, Green returned to Spring-Summer 2015 with his first solo catwalk presentation, which led to even wider recognition from influential retailers such as Comme des Garçons, who allowed Green to showcase his work in the window of their London store, Dover Street Market. Fashion photographer Nick Knight commented in 2015 that Green's work had opened new avenues for menswear designers by encouraging them to make statements and bolder choices.

Retailers which have formerly traded at the Broadway Shopping Centre but no longer do so include Dixons, Topshop and Topman, HMV, Miss Selfridge, Woolworths, Safeway, Rosebys, Radio Rentals, Our Price, Dolcis, JJB Sports, Waterstone's, The Link, Rumbelows, Krisp, Principles, Bay Trading Company, Next, and Birthdays/Pure Party. JD Sports traded inside the mall for a time (in what is now T-Mobile) after their merger with First Sport, which previously occupied the unit, but subsequently closed this small store to focus on their larger and more recent Broadway Square site. Mothercare and Early Learning Centre were located in separate stores inside the shopping centre for a number of years, but relocated in September 2010 to a former Aldi store on Market Place, outside the centre's boundaries.

In February 2009, it was announced that the BHS department store chain, also owned by the Greens, would be integrated into Arcadia. As part of the changes, some administrative functions previously run separately were intended to be consolidated to improve efficiency, and some BHS retail stores were to begin to carry Arcadia brands as concessions, enabling Arcadia to expand the presence of its brands without having to lease large numbers of new stores, and allow the firm to cut store costs by moving some operations from stand- alone stores into BHS locations. In The Mall Bexleyheath, the firm was able to introduce Wallis to the retail portfolio without having to lease a separate store unit to do so, and was also able to close the existing Evans store and relocate its operations into BHS. Meanwhile, at Lakeside Shopping Centre in Thurrock, Essex, the existing two-floor BHS was replanned to a reformatted single-level store to allow Topshop/Topman to relocate from their prior site (itself earlier expanded into the neighbouring ex-Etam premises) to take up what was previously the upper level of BHS.
