By the 1960s, he said, the band, under the name Lil' Buck and the Top Cats, had up to 17 players, including an organist named Stanley Dural Jr. Playing the accordion, Mr. Dural would form his own band, Buckwheat Zydeco, which would help make zydeco music a worldwide phenomenon.

The band took part in Melodifestivalen 2012 with "Baby Doll" written by Mårten Eriksson, Lina Eriksson and Susie Päivärinta and made it to the final after winning a spot from the "second chance" round alongside Thorsten Flinck & Revolutionsorkestern. In the final they finished in sixth place. In 2015 Top Cats started their own record label TC entertainment. Päivärinta helped write Baby Doll by the bad Top Cats, which was selected for Melodifestivalen 2012 and reach 20 on the Swedish national radio chart. She helped write I Am Somebody by Pink Pistols, which competed in Melodifestivalen 2014 and placed 7th in the second semi-final.

There are other championships held on a regional or franchise basis, for example the Midlands, Ceroc Scotland and Welsh champs, and the Australasian. Ceroc also hosts the European Neo-Blues Championships.

Land of Broken Dreams is a song written by Thomas G:son and Thomas "Plec" Johansson, and performed by Dynazty at Melodifestivalen 2012, participating in the fourth semifinal in Malmö, successfully progressing to Andra chansen, where it was knocked out by the Top Cats song Baby Doll. The song was tested for Svensktoppen on 11 and 18 March 2012, but failed to enter that chart.

Top Cats is a Swedish rockabilly band formed in 2001. The earliest line-up was made up of Jon Kleppenes (as lead singer), Daniel Kjellberg (drummer), Henrik Törnevik (contrabass), Fredrik Lilja (guitar), Olle Sätterström (guitar, trumpet, piano), Erica Larsson and Sandra Zackrisson (both backing vocals). When in 2004 drummer Daniel Kjellberg left, he was replaced by Robert Jansson. In 2007, double bassist Henrik Törnevik left and was replaced by Martin Lindahl.

The Phoenix had their best season ever in 2013/14 finishing runners up to Whitley Bay. They made their first appearance at the women's playoffs in Sheffield losing 1-0 to the eventual winner, Swindon Top Cats, in the Semi Final. They then beat Cardiff to finish on 3rd place overall. The Club ran a series of free "Learn to Play" sessions, providing loanable kits, in the summer of 2014.

Harvey was born in Plymouth, England, and grew up in a small tin-mining town in rural Cornwall listening to the country, rock'n'roll and blues music. He started playing guitar and writing songs at the age of 13. Harvey began to develop his own distinctive style, taking bits from his early influences and adding in his own personality. In 1995, he recorded his first album Night Of Passion with his band The Flat Top Cats on a Prince's Trust grant.

The group was put together by investment manager Peter A. Scott, who in his own words "decided to create an alternative history in which Cuban ska had emerged".ScottMeadley He travelled to Santiago de Cuba with Top Cats singer Natty Bo (Nathan Lerner) in 2001 and there they rehearsed and recorded the Ska Cubano album over a two-year period mainly with local musicians including singer Beny Billy (Juan Manuel Villy Carbonell). In late 2004, Scott and Bo decided to go for a less Cuban sound and formed a line-up in London mainly using UK-based Cuban and other Caribbean musicians (three of whom were/are also members of Top Cats, Natty Bo's traditional ska band ). After some experimentation, with Natty Bo as leader and vocalist, the permanent core of Ska Cubano became : Cubans (from Havana) Rey Crespo and Ernesto Estruch, Jesús Cutiño (Las Tunas), Oreste Noda (Matanzas) and Kico Cowan (Camaguey), together with, from Montserrat, Dr Sleepy (Reuben White), from Spanish Town, Jamaica, Eddie "Tan Tan" Thornton, from Chiba City, Japan, Miss Megoo (Megumi Mesaku) and Londoner Trevor Edwards, with Beny Billy commuting from Santiago for recordings and performances.

After more than a decade of inactivity, the Go-Katz resurfaced in 2003 in St Petersburg, Russia, with founder member Howard Raucous backed by members of Russian surf/psychobilly band The Bombers. With this line-up they occasionally gigged in St Petersburg and recorded "When A Stranger Calls", a cover of a Meteors song for the tribute album "Sympathy For The Devil". Meanwhile, interest in 1980s psychobilly bands increased, leading to a UK reformation in 2005, again with Howard Raucous being the only original member, with musicians from rockabilly trio The Top Cats drafted in. This lineup lasted until 2010 to play psychobilly events around Europe.
