After the death of Friedel, Henri Moissan took the reins of the school.

Mr. Wood opened Amarillo's first Weather Bureau building in June 1903 on the southeast corner of Taylor and Seventh Streets. This two-story building housed the weather office on its first floor, with quarters for the Official in Charge on the second floor. In November 1906, Mr. T.J. Considine took the reins of the Amarillo Weather Bureau and held them until he died in January 1925. Rafael Garza Gutiérrez, nicknamed "Récord" (13 December 1896 in Mexico City– 3 July 1974), was a Mexican footballer and coach. He, along with other members of the Garza family, are recognized as the founders of Club América. He was a defender for that club as well as the Selección de fútbol de México (Mexico national team). Upon retiring, he took the reins of his beloved club as an executive and later served as the national team manager on four separate occasions.. He is an Olympian.

The first Mughal Emperors Babur and Humayun ruled from Agra, unlike the preceding Delhi Sultanate. In the mid-16th century there was an interruption in the Mughal rule of India as Sher Shah Suri defeated Humayun and forced him to flee to Persia. Sher Shah Suri built the sixth city of Delhi, as well as the old fort known as Purana Qila, even though this city was settled since the ancient era. After Sher Shah Suri's death in 1545, his son Islam Shah took the reins of north India from Delhi.
For the first time, the fansite House of Eurovision presented the Barbara Dex Award, a humorous award given to the worst dressed artist each year in the contest. House of Eurovision would continue to provide the Barbara Dex Award until 2016, when another Eurovision fansite, songfestival.be, took the reins of the award and will present it every year starting with the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest in Ukraine.
The La Picasa International Film Festival (FICILP, ) is an international festival of independent films organized each year in the month of February, in the city of Cinco Saltos, Argentina. The festival is managed by Linea Sur Cine, the Cinco Saltos County, with the collaboration of the Río Negro Province. It was founded in 2018 by Ivan Iannamico (artistic director) and José Sepúlveda. Since 2019 Daniela Caruzzo took the reins of the general production of the festival, orienting it to regional film production and the union with other Patagonian festivals.
Patcha Ramachandra Rao (21 March 1942 – 10 January 2010) was a metallurgist and administrator. He has the unique distinction of being the only Vice- Chancellor (2002–05) of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) who was also a student (1963–68) and faculty (1964–92) at that institution. From 1992 to 2002, Rao was the Director of the National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur. After his tenure as Vice-Chancellor of B.H.U., in 2005, he took the reins of the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) as its first Vice-Chancellor.
Muhammad was the son of Imam al-Mansur al-Qasim who restored the Zaidi imamate and began the cumbersome process of conquering back Yemen from the Ottoman occupiers. When he took the reins of government from his father in 1620, much of the highland was in Zaidi hands, and there was an uneasy truce with the Turks. In 1622 the population in and around Sa'dah in the north refused to pay taxes to the imam. Muhammad then sent his brother Saif al-Islam al-Hasan who put down the revolt.

In February 2007 he became Guus Hiddink's assistant, as Boris Stukalov took the reins of the U-21s.

Guigues V was the son of Guigues IV, Count of Albon (1133–42), and Margaret of Mâcon. He inherited when he was considered too young to rule on his own and so his mother controlled the regency until 1153. In that year Guigues took the reins of government and immediately set about to avenge his father, who had been killed in a surprise attack by the Count of Savoy, Amadeus III, during the siege of Montmélian eleven years earlier. Guigues V besieged Montmélian a second time, but was driven off by Humbert's relief force.

Sweets helped keep the American alive for more than 45 years as an owner-publisher. Throughout the 1940s, ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s, the American continued to gain respect and readership, through its venerable editor Bennie G. Rodgers, who worked for the paper for more than 50 years, and is still known as the “dean of black journalism in St. Louis”. Current publisher Donald M. Suggs took the reins of The St. Louis American in the early 1980s. When Suggs took over the newspaper, it had a circulation of approximately 4,400.
In 1919, Caroline Lesaffre founded a textile company, "Les Tricotages de l'Aa", which combined a factory with a school for young women whose fathers, brothers and husbands had not returned from World War I. In 1964, Patrice Milan, Lessafre's grandson, took the reins of the company and modernised it by installing high-performance knitting machines. In 2001, he took the reins of the New Zealand national team. By winning the 2001 FIBA Oceania championship, the Tall Blacks — as New Zealand are known — qualified for the 2002 FIBA World Championship, and even reached the semi-finals; this is the best performance by an Oceania team in the history of the World Championships.

The saviour of the Excelsior appeared in 1919 in the form of Curt Elschner (1876–1963). In 1903 he took out a lease on the Hotel Metropol in Erfurt, before taking over the Hotel Esplanade in Hamburg and then a number of other hotels and restaurants across Germany. After his war service Elschner spent a short time in 1919 working as an advisor and frontman to the politician and industrialist Hugo Stinnes, when the latter was elected into parliament in Berlin, before Elschner finally took the reins of the Excelsior.
Mir was appointed director of youth football at Benidorm CF in 2002, remaining in the position several years. Afterwards, he took the reins of Alicante CF's reserves, promoting from the regional championships in his first year and nearly achieving the feat the following campaign, with a team full of youngsters. For 2010–11, Mir joined Valencia B, leading the club to the third division at the first attempt. He was relieved of his duties in December 2011, having recorded four wins, four draws and nine defeats during the season.

Despite the numerous legends regarding this queen, she is mentioned little in Assyrian records of the time. In 806 BC, Adad-nirari III took the reins of power.
Saint Thomas Aquinas College STAC started after World War II settled down when Fr. Luis Caintic saw the need for the town to have a learning institution named after the patron saint of Catholic education, Saint Thomas Aquinas. In 1952, the Saint Thomas Aquinas Academy or STAA Normal Department produced 26 graduates with Elementary Teachers' Certificate (ETC) as well as 17 pupils from the Elementary Department. However, enrollment suffered a major setback in December 1951 when Typhoon Amy, one of the most destructive in that decade, ravaged the town. In 1952, Fr. Sergio Osmeña took the reins of running STAA from Fr. Caintic.

Due to the surprise defeat of the United Workers Party at the polls in 1979, a new SLP- Administration under Sir Allan Louis took the reins of power, which resulted in a new Speaker being elected. After three years of governance, the Labour Administration of 1979 eventually fell apart, thus paving the way for general elections in 1982. The United Workers Party was returned to power, Sir John G. M. Cael Sanderson, arguably the greatest collegiate wrestler of all time, took the reins of the Iowa State wrestling team at the start of the 2006–07 season. Sanderson led the Cyclone grapplers to an NCAA runner-up finish in his first year at the helm and guided the Iowa State squad to three consecutive Big 12 Conference championships. ISU didn’t finish outside of the top five at the NCAA Championships under Sanderson’s direction. After posting an undefeated record of 159–0 as a collegiate wrestler for ISU, Sanderson won an Olympic gold medal at the 2004 Summer Games in Athens, Greece.

Mansur Shihab () was the Emir of Mount Lebanon between 1754 and 1770. He and his brother Ahmad took the reins of power from their ailing brother Mulhim Shihab and ruled jointly until Mansur became the sole emir after winning a power struggle with Ahmad in 1763. Mansur aligned himself with Zahir al-Umar and Ali Bey, the autonomous rulers of Galilee and Egypt, respectively, in their rebellion against the Ottomans. Mansur was subsequently forced by the Druze sheikhs of Mount Lebanon to step down in favor his nephew Yusuf Shihab after Zahir and Ali Bey were defeated in 1770.
Henry's widow, Theresa, took the reins on behalf of her young son, and allied herself with Galician nobility in order to challenge her sister queen Urraca's dominance and briefly used the title Queen. However, she was defeated by Urraca in 1121 and forced to accept a position of feudal subservience to the Leonese state. Her own son, Afonso Henriques, took the reins of the government in 1128 after routing his mother's forces in the Battle of São Mamede, near Guimarães. After this battle, he began to exhibit a seal with a cross and the word "Portugal".

After two years under the management of Alfonso "El Pescado" Portugal, the Spaniard Ángel Zubieta took the reins of the team. Mirer attended the University of Notre Dame from 1989–1992, accumulating a 29–7–1 record as starter – including 3 bowl games. He began his tenure serving as backup to Tony Rice, then took the reins of the Notre Dame offense in 1990 and led the team to the Orange Bowl. In 1991, Mirer set the single season touchdown record with 18 and was named co-MVP with teammate Jerome Bettis leading Notre Dame past Florida in the 1992 Sugar Bowl. He finished his career at Notre Dame by leading them to victory in the 1993 Cotton Bowl Classic.
In 1992, following the death of John Sloan, Jack Faris assumed the role of president and clearly defined NFIB's role in affecting public policy at the state and federal levels through political and grassroots activism, and lobbying with lawmakers in an integrated manner. In 1992, NFIB headquarters was officially relocated to Nashville, TN. Jack Faris announced his retirement in early 2005. The board formed a search committee and selected Todd A. Stottlemyer as the fifth president of NFIB. Stottlemyer took the reins of NFIB on February 15, 2006, with a goal of improving NFIB's non-partisan reach and technology infrastructure.
He returned to coaching in 1994 with the Utica Blizzard of the Colonial Hockey League, leading the team to a 31–38–5 record and an eventual first round loss in the postseason. Seiling even donned the Blades as an emergency replacement, but failed to record a point. The following year he took the reins of the Ontario Hockey League's Owen Sound Platers, but was replaced midway through the year. He spent parts of the next three seasons behind the bench in the Central Hockey League, first with San Antonio and later with the Tulsa Oilers.

The English price of returning James to Scotland was English overlordship of Scotland, something that few Scots were prepared to accept. At this time Murdoch Stewart was still a prisoner in England, but in 1416 he was exchanged for Henry Percy, 2nd Earl of Northumberland, and he returned to Scotland. The Albany Stewarts took James's lands under their own control, depriving the king of income and any of the regalia of his position.
Allan Jeans was recruited to St.Kilda after playing in Finley Football Club‘s 1954 Murray Football League (MFL) senior premiership and he was also runner up in the 1954 MFL O’Dwyer Medal. After a modest 77-game playing career with the St Kilda Football Club (1955–1959), Jeans, known as "Yabby", took the reins of the Saints in 1961 for a remarkable 16-year career as senior coach. He coached St Kilda to successive grand finals, in 1965 and 1966, including the Saints' first (and only) VFL premiership in 1966. He took the Saints to another grand final appearance in 1971.
Benson became Director of Operations (accounts), putting him in charge of 100,000 people, and by the time he left the army in 1945 he was an acting Brigadier. After leaving the army he was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in recognition of the work he had done. After returning to Coopers after the end of the Second World War, Benson became enthusiastic about expanding the firm, something the firm's senior partner Stuart Cooper disagreed with. After several meetings in 1946 Cooper resigned, and Benson and his coworker Sydney John Pears took the reins of the company.

In spring 557, Yuwen Hu, believing that Yuwen Jue's youth meant that he needed to take imperial title to affirm his authority, forced Emperor Gong to yield the throne to Yuwen Jue, ending Western Wei and starting Northern Zhou.
After his schooling and at the age of 17, he took the reins of his grandfather's farm. His work organizing one of the first farm cooperatives during that period brought him to the attention of the West Virginia Agricultural Experiment Station. The State was looking for an entomologist and Hopkins volunteered, making it clear that the pay was not important to him, and asking only that he be allowed to work from his home. Butch Grover took the reins of the Ohio program in 1922, and led the team to a newfound level of success. His inaugural 1922–1923 season was marked by an 11–8 record, and wins over teams such as the Cincinnati Bearcats and the Marietta Pioneers. In 1923, the Bobcats marked their move into the brand new Men's Gymnasium with a 16–5 record and a near miss of an Ohio Athletic Conference title. Several winning seasons later, the Bobcats moved into the Buckeye Athletic Association in 1926 and started off with an 8–13 mark in the 1926–1927 season.
In 1977, while working as a journalist for the Far Eastern Economic Review, an English Asian news magazine based in Hong Kong, Ho was detained under the Internal Security Act for writing articles in the Review and held in solitary confinement for two months. After Ho's release, he continued to work as a journalist, settling on Banyan Tree Bay in Hong Kong with his wife for three years. Ho's foray into the business world came several years later when he decided to join the family business after his father suffered a stroke. Assuming the mantle as the eldest son, Ho took the reins of the company.

In 2005, after Telesur was founded, it was described as a network showcasing the diversity of Latin America. Telesur also "won praise for its high production values and its intensive reporting about Latin America for Latin Americans". After 2007, however, some began to argue that Telesur was a propaganda tool for Hugo Chávez and his Bolivarian Revolution, with the network being described as "a mouthpiece for Chávez". According to Aram Aharonian, the founder of Telesur who was removed from the network in December 2008 by former Venezuelan Minister of Popular Power for Communication and Information Andres Izarra, Chávez "took the reins" of Telesur and used "propaganda as rolling news".
This time Esteghlal turned to Parviz Mazloumi, a former Esteghlal player in the 1980s. The OEO projects injected Indian country with confidence and determination and brought many benefits, but the generalized gifts of leadership and tribal control proved equally enduring. Although many problems were encountered along the way, more than a thousand Indian people, never before given the chance to assume major responsibilities, took the reins of OEO projects and then moved into leadership positions in the tribal councils, national and regional Indian organizations, and federal and state offices. Native Americans had finally been given the power to either succeed or fail. Although the Office of Economic Opportunity was abolished in 1981, its effects are still being felt today.

His quarterback was a rookie from the University of Miami named Jim Kelly. The "Mouseketeers" offensive unit lit up the USFL in their first year of existence passing for 5,793 yards and 45 passing touchdowns - ending their expansion season with a (13-5) record. The Gamblers' offense became the first team in pro football history to have two receivers with over 100 receptions in a single season: Richard Johnson with 115 and Ricky Sanders with 101. In 1985, Davis took his first head coaching job at the professional level when he took the reins of the Denver Gold, bringing his run-and-shoot offense to the Mile High City.
The Montreal cartoonist Doug Wright (1917–83) took the reins of Juniper Junction, which went on to become English Canada's longest-running comic strip. In 1965 the Canadian publisher McClelland & Stewart printed a treasury of Birdseye Center with commentary by Greg Clark and an introduction by Gordon Sinclair. Clark continued publishing his tales for a time with illustrations by Duncan Macpherson (1924–93), but soon moved on to different topics. Scugog Shores Museum in Port Perry holds some samples of Frise's original artwork, and the Province of Ontario erected an Ontario Historical Plaque in front of the museum to commemorate Frise's role in Ontario's heritage.

The war eventually concluded soon after Turenne's victory at the Battle of the Dunes near Dunkirk in 1658, in which a corps of English veterans sent by France's ally Oliver Cromwell played a notable part (3–14 June); a victory which, followed by another successful campaign in 1658, led to the peace of the Pyrenees in 1659. On the death of Cardinal Mazarin in 1661 Louis XIV took the reins of government into his own hands, and as one of his first acts appointed Turenne "marshal-general of the camps and armies of the king".
Governor Sloughter's sudden death on July 23, 1691, was viewed in some circles with suspicion that he had been poisoned, although the autopsy indicated that the cause was pneumonia. He left behind a letter in which he claimed to have been "constrained" by the forces around him to order the execution. Other acts during his tenure also sparked comment. Ingoldesby took the reins of government after his death and accused him of pocketing £1,100 intended to pay the troops, and he was said to have seized a prize ship that had been captured and sold at auction during his time in office, and then sold it a second time.

After his retirement, Paciência was assigned to coach Porto's youth teams, and later the reserves. After completing his level three managing course, he left Porto and was hired as manager of U.D. Leiria for 2006–07; he also opened a football school in Matosinhos, with former Porto teammate Rui Barros. Despite a good work overall, leading the team to a seventh-place finish in the top flight, Paciência left the club before the end of the season, after having fallen out with its president and also player Adriano Rossato. The following campaign, he took the reins of fellow league side Académica de Coimbra after Manuel Machado resigned.

Giorgos Sterianopoulos (, born April 1962 in Thessaloniki, Greece) is a Greek businessman and president of the Bulgarian basketball club CSKA Sofia. Sterianopoulos became widely known in the Greek public when he tried to purchase one of the most successful European clubs of the 90s, P.A.O.K. Thessaloniki, in 2005. The agreement with the then president of P.A.O.K., Takis Paneloudis seemed to be in the right track, but in the end Paneloudis refused to transmit his amount of shares. In 2007, after former CSKA owner and chairman were killed in an accident, he took the reins of CSKA, became president of the team and hired Greek/Serbian former basketball legend, Bane Prelević as a Sports director.

Ricardo Poma (born 1946) is the Chief Executive Officer of the family owned conglomerate Grupo Poma, based in San Salvador, El Salvador. Poma obtained an industrial engineering degree from Princeton University in 1967 and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1970. When he returned to El Salvador, Ricardo joined the family business; he took the reins of the conglomerate from his father Luis Poma in the 1980s. After the death of Pietro Barilla Sr. his sons Riccardo and Gualtiero took the reins of the family Company, increasing the production and distribution of products, thanks to technological innovations which allowed the company to rapidly transform itself, over the course of the 1920s and 1930s, into the most important bread and pasta company in Emilia- Romagna. After Ma Xisheng took the reins of the state, he began to run into conflicts with Gao Yu, and he was also suspicious of Gao due to the prior seeds of suspicion sewn by Emperor Zhuangzong and Gao Jixing (who, while alive, had publicly stated that he wanted to enter into a blood brotherhood with Gao because he believed that Gao would become Chu's ruler). Separately, the Goa People's Party and the then-undivided Communist Party of India had also been mobilising among Warli Adivasi in neighbouring districts since the mid-40's. Com.
They pooled their efforts and created the Laguna Academy. The academy began with 16 students and reached an enrollment of 1,500 in 1941. Upon the death of the first two presidents of the board of trustees and co-founders of the institution, Don Melecio Fule and Don Zacarias Sahagun (a municipal president of San Pablo who was responsible for the opening of a town government hospital), one of the academy's alumni in the person of Dr. Nicasio B.
