A flammagenitus that produces lightning is actually a type of cumulonimbus, a thundercloud, and is called cumulonimbus flammagenitus. The World Meteorological Organization formerly classified flammagenitus and cumulonimbus flammagenitus respectively as cumulus (mediocris or congestus) and cumulonimbus.

Daniels worked many jobs before becoming a stuntman—cowboy on cattle ranches, miner, rodeo performer, and tour guide—before he went to Hollywood to try his luck at acting. From there he graduated to character actor status. His title "Chief" was a Hollywood invention, a stage name. He had the title role in Geronimo (1939) and played Tonto in both Republic Lone Ranger serials, The Lone Ranger (1938) and The Lone Ranger Rides Again (1939). Throughout the 1940s, Daniels continued to work as a character actor, maintaining the Chief Thundercloud persona.

The positive end of the leader network fills the negative charge region before the negative end fills the positive charge region, and the positive leader subsequently exits the cloud and propagates upward. It was previously believed that blue jets were not directly related to lightning flashes, and that the presence of hail somehow led to their occurrence.

In June 2007, the town of Elie, Manitoba was struck by an F5 tornado. A tornado is a violent, rotating column of air in contact with both the surface of the earth and a cumulonimbus cloud (otherwise known as a thundercloud) or, in rare cases, the base of a cumulus cloud. Tornadoes come in many sizes but are typically in the form of a visible condensation funnel, whose narrow end touches the earth and is often encircled by a cloud of debris and dust. Most tornadoes have wind speeds between , are approximately across, and travel several kilometers (a few miles) before dissipating.

Anderson was born in Laurens, South Carolina, and raised in nearby Greenville and Spartanburg. He joined Dr. William R. Kerr of the Indian Remedy Company in 1914 to entertain the crowds, while Kerr tried to sell a concoction purported to have medicinal qualities. This was in the years around 1730. The only cumulonimbus clouds that could be usable by a glider pilot, subject to all necessary reservations, might be isolated small cumulonimbus or at a pinch the flanking lines associated with strong thunderstorms. However, examples above show that a seemingly innocuous cloud can rapidly become very dangerous. Squalls and supercell thunderstorms are definitely deadly hazards to uninformed pilots. Based on visual flight rules, flights in pre-storm areas must be visual; the pilots must be able to watch the evolution of a thundercloud and take the necessary actions of avoidance or to quickly land when appropriate.

Livingston was born in Quincy, Illinois, and died in Tarzana, California from emphysema. Often billed as "Bob Livingston," he was the original "Stony Brooke" in the "Three Mesquiteers" Western B-movie series, a role later played by John Wayne for eight films. He also portrayed Zorro in The Bold Caballero (1936) and the Lone Ranger in the 1939 film serial The Lone Ranger Rides Again directed by William Witney and co-starring Chief Thundercloud as Tonto. Livingston also appeared as the title character in The Lone Rider series starring alongside sidekicks Al "Fuzzy" St. John and Dennis "Smoky" Moore.

She was brought up in the traditional tribal religion; later, she converted to the Peyote religion (Native American Church) after her second marriage. Traditionally, brothers arranged their sisters’ marriages, but she did not like the man her brothers chose and, after the birth of her second child, she left him and later married a man of her own choosing. Leaders are electrically conductive channels of ionized gas that propagate through, or are otherwise attracted to, regions with a charge opposite of that of the leader tip. The negative end of the bidirectional leader fills a positive charge region, also called a well, inside the cloud while the positive end fills a negative charge well.

Gigantic jet in Oro Verde, Argentina, February 2, 2014 Where blue jets are believed to initiate between the upper positive charge region and a negative screening layer directly above this region, gigantic jets appear to initiate between the upper positive and lower negative charge regions in the thundercloud. In a similar process to how blue jets form, the higher charge region is discharged by the leader network before the same occurs in the lower charge region, and one end of the leader network propagates upward from the cloud toward the ionosphere. Gigantic jets reach higher altitudes than blue jets, and the upper portion of the jet changes color from blue to red.

Liverpool porcelain is characterized by foot-rims vertical or undercut on the inner surface; flat bases to mugs; areas of blue ground marbled in gold; a blued glaze giving a 'thundercloud' effect where thick under the base. Once the POW camp closed, one of the buildings, Building T-9, was on a list acquired by the Federal Land Bank on June 7, 1947. In October 1947, the City of Concordia purchased 166.7 acres of camp acreage, including buildings, with the intent of establishing a park and re-locating the Cloud County fairgrounds to the site. Plans for the park never came to pass and the city eventually sold Building T-9 as well as other buildings and acreage. T-9 was subsequently used as a skating rink, hog farm, canoe factory, and during the 1960s, as storage for a horse racetrack called Thundercloud Park located on the camp property.

Queen's Blade: Rebellion is a 2012 anime television series based on the Queen's Blade series of gamebooks by Hobby Japan. Set after the events of the original Queen Blade, Gainos and the entire Continent have fallen under a tyrannical rule led by Claudette, the Thundercloud Queen. The series focuses on Annelotte, an exiled knight who leads a band of rebels in her fight to overthrow the Queen. The anime is produced by Arms under the directorship of Yousei Morino, with the script written by Hideki Shirane, music by Masaru Yokoyama, and characters by Rin-Sin, Takayuki Noguchi, and Yukiko Ishibashi. The anime aired on AT-X from April 3, 2012, to June 19, 2012, with subsequent broadcasts on Tokyo MX, Chiba TV, Sun Television, and BS11.

In the series debut, "Fight for Geronimo", Chief Thundercloud portrays the Apache Geronimo. In the story line, Bill and Calamity uncover a plot to release Geronimo from the custody of the United States Army so that the culprits can capture him and obtain reward money. In "Red Hawk", Michael Hall plays the title role, the adopted Indian son of Jess Sundy, portrayed by Stanley Andrews, the host of Death Valley Days who appeared in different roles in six episodes of Buffalo Bill, Jr. In the story line, Sundy seeks a freight contract with a mining company to fulfill his life dream that he enter into business with his son, Red Hawk. One of Sundy's rivals tries to gain the contract himself by using racial prejudice to frighten the company owner into avoiding Sundy.

In June 1998, Arch Coal expanded into the western United States with the acquisition of the coal assets of Atlantic Richfield. Included in this transaction were the Black Thunder Coal Mine and Coal Creek mines in the Powder River Basin of Wyoming; the West Elk longwall mine in Gunnison County, Colorado; and a 65% interest in Canyon Fuel Company, which operates three longwall mines in Utah. De Vol was also an actor specializing in deadpan comic characters, especially as the dour bandleader Happy Kyne on the talk show parodies Fernwood 2 Night and America 2-Night, in 1977–78. He also had a recurring role in I'm Dickens, He's Fenster, as Myron Bannister, Dickens & Fenster's boss; as well as appearances on The Cara Williams Show, I Dream of Jeannie, Gidget, Bonanza, Petticoat Junction - (1967 episode: "That Was the Night That Was" & 1969 episode: "The Organ Fund" - as Reverend Barton), Mickey starring Mickey Rooney, The Brady Bunch, Get Smart (at least 2 appearances as Professor Carleton) and The Jeffersons. De Vol had also comic roles as Chief Eaglewood, the head of the Thundercloud Boys' Camp in 1961's The Parent Trap, and as the onscreen narrator in Jerry Lewis's 1967 comedy film The Big Mouth. De Vol also appeared as a bandleader in the last season of My Three Sons, in addition to writing the theme music and serving as in-house composer for most of the show's twelve seasons.
