The Ocean Parkway eastbound approaching the Babylon town beaches Through Gilgo State Park, the Ocean Parkway develops a wide, grassy median between the six lanes. Passing another section of the Great South Bay, the parkway soon leaves the park, where the median returns, thins out and access is provided to another beach and recreational facilities, as the road passes the Cedar Beach Golf Course. Entering another section of Gilgo State Park, the Ocean Parkway evens out eastward before leaving the park for the hamlet of Oak Beach.

Informally, dynamical systems describe the time evolution of the phase space of some mechanical system. Commonly, such evolution is given by some differential equations, or quite often in terms of discrete time steps. However, in the present case, instead of focusing on the time evolution of discrete points, one shifts attention to the time evolution of collections of points. One such example would be Saturn's rings: rather than tracking the time evolution of individual grains of sand in the rings, one is instead interested in the time evolution of the density of the rings: how the density thins out, spreads, or becomes concentrated.

The Dunvegan Formation is thick in its type locality in Peace River Country and up to in the sub-surface of the Canadian Rockies foothills. It occurs south of Fort Nelson and the Liard River in north-east British Columbia, thins out south of the Peace River Country. South of the Athabasca River, the Dunvegan grades laterally into the Blackstone Formation. The Dunvegan Formation is exposed in outcrop along and near the Peace River east of the foothills, in the Peace River Country and the Chinchaga area, as well as patches in north-western Alberta and south of the Caribou Mountains.

Radiation hardening of the warhead's electronic components as a countermeasure to high altitude neutron warheads somewhat reduces the range that a neutron warhead could successfully cause an unrecoverable glitch by the transient radiation effects on electronics (TREE) effects. At very high altitudes, at the edge of the atmosphere and above it, another effect comes into play. At lower altitudes, the x-rays generated by the bomb are absorbed by the air and have mean free paths on the order of meters. But as the air thins out, the x-rays can travel further, eventually outpacing the area of effect of the neutrons.

NY 55, now a four-lane boulevard, runs southeast through the Arlington district, becoming known as Manchester Road. The route passes north of the Vassar Golf Course before turning east into the town of LaGrange. In the town of LaGrange, the route crosses through the hamlet of Manchester Bridge, where it passes under the Dutchess Rail Trail and then over Wappinger Creek before it junctions with CR 46 (Overlook Road) and CR 49 (Old Manchester Road). The route soon thins out to a two-lane roadway, changing names to Freedom Plains Road as it bends to the southeast and soon east past the other terminus of CR 49 (Titusville Road).

As an anti-ballistic missile weapon, the first fielded ER warhead, the W66, was developed for the Sprint missile system as part of the Safeguard Program to protect United States cities and missile silos from incoming Soviet warheads. A problem faced by Sprint and similar ABMs was that the blast effects of their warheads change greatly as they climb and the atmosphere thins out. At higher altitudes, starting around and above, the blast effects begin to drop off rapidly as the air density becomes very low. This can be countered by using a larger warhead, but then it becomes too powerful when used at lower altitudes.

The columella is smooth and slightly twisted. The outer lip in adult specimens has a thin edge from the sinus to the anterior lower margin of the siphonal canal, with a well-marked varicose thickening behind, extending from the anterior canal up to and then round the sinus to the suture, where it thins out in a pad-like form on the inner lip. The outer lip is somewhat effuse anteriorly. The colour of the shell is white to creamy, with a pale or faded violet-brown broad band on the anterior slope of the body whorl, and a faint narrow band near the suture, and usually just discernible above the anterior suture of the penultimate whorl.

A pond in The Big Cypress Although The Big Cypress is the largest growth of cypress swamps in South Florida, such swamps—as well as portions of sawgrass marshes—can be found near the Atlantic Coastal Ridge and between Lake Okeechobee and the Eastern flatwoods. Hardwood hammocks and pineland are often interspersed with the cypress ecosystem. Much like tree islands that are colloquially referred to as "heads", cypress trees grow in formations that resemble domes, with the tallest and thickest trunks in the center, rooted in the deepest peat. As the peat thins out, cypresses continue to grow, but are smaller and thinner, giving the small forest the appearance of a dome.

The grassland is dominated by purple moor grass (Molinia caerulea), with some mat grass (Nardus stricta), Festuca spp. and Agrostis spp.. This thins out on the ridges and summits. The dry alpine heath supports heather (Calluna vulgaris), bell heather (Erica cinerea), crowberry (Empetrum nigrum), roseroot (Rhodiola rosea), St. Patrick's-cabbage (Saxifraga spathularis), heath bedstraw (Galium saxatile), dwarf willow (Salix herbacea) and viviparous fescue (Festuca vivipara), together with the ferns Wilson's filmy-fern (Hymenophyllum wilsonii), hard fern (Struthiopteris spicant ), brittle bladder-fern (Cystopteris fragilis), green spleenwort (Asplenium viride), fir clubmoss (Huperzia selago) and the moss Cyclodictyon laetevirens. The Caha Mountains are notable for the presence of Minuartia recurva, a montane sandwort otherwise not found in Ireland.

Bob and Linda split up to support both shows, but eventually, the crowd watching Working Girl thins out, attracted by Louise's fliers. Just past the end of "The Strip", the road passes the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign (located in the median) as it abuts the western edge of the McCarran International Airport property (the sign is often considered the de facto south end of the Strip, even though it is presently some distance from the nearest resort property. "South Strip" is now used to describe the section of Las Vegas Boulevard between Russell Road and Blue Diamond Road. Along this stretch, development thins out, except for newer shopping malls, hotels, resorts, casinos and condominiums (such as South Point Hotel & Casino and The Grandview at Las Vegas) as the Boulevard continues to travel south, just to the east of Interstate 15. After passing the M Resort, the Boulevard enters rural desert areas.

The Two Medicine Formation is a geologic formation, or rock body, that was deposited between 83.5 ± 0.7 Ma and 70.6 ± 3.4 Ma (million years ago), during Campanian (Late Cretaceous) time, and is located in northwestern Montana and southern Alberta. It crops out to the east of the Rocky Mountain Overthrust Belt, and the western portion (about thick) of this formation is folded and faulted while the eastern part, which thins out into the Sweetgrass Arch, is mostly undeformed plains. Below the formation are the nearshore (beach and tidal zone) deposits of the Virgelle Sandstone, and above it is the marine Bearpaw Shale. Throughout the Campanian, the Two Medicine Fm. was deposited between the western shoreline of the Late Cretaceous Interior Seaway and the eastward advancing margin of the Cordilleran Overthrust Belt.

After crossing the right-of-way for a series of power lines,Location of Power Lines across State Road 19 south of Palatka (Google Maps scan) the forest thins out as road turns north momentarily then curves to the northeast again. Near Mud Lake, the road crosses the five-way intersection of Silver Lake Boulevard and Round Lake Road, CR 310 branches off to the southeast and Round Lake Road branches off to the north. North of West Rellim Drive, the right-of-way for new eastbound lanes are exposed, then widens to a divided highway near the Palatka City Limits in the vicinity of the local Wal-Mart Supercenter. After the intersection of South Moody Road, SR 19 curves slightly north and SR 20 (Crill Avenue) is the first major intersection in Palatka.

It is named after Henry Cutting, the founder of the Port of Richmond. It begins in the historic neighborhood of Point Richmond at the base of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge and flows through the South Richmond forming the border with that neighborhood and Marina Bay as does the parallel Interstate 580. The road continues past 23rd street until reaching San Pablo Avenue (State Route 123) the major north-south artery for the West Contra Costa County area, adjacent to the regional transit hub of El Cerrito del Norte BART station, where buses from several counties converge to link with this metro system. This boulevard then thins out into a street as it climbs the hills of El Cerrito until reaching its end at Arlington Boulevard, a major north-south trunk road between the Richmond and Berkeley hills through El Cerrito.

V603 Aquilae (or Nova Aquilae 1918) was a bright nova first observed (from Earth) in the constellation Aquila in 1918. It is a binary system, comprising a white dwarf and donor low-mass star in close orbit to the point of being only semidetached. The white dwarf sucks matter off its companion, which has filled its Roche lobe, onto its accretion disk and surface until the excess material is blown off in a thermonuclear event. This material then forms an expanding shell, which eventually thins out and disappears. First seen by Zygmunt Laskowski, a medical professor and amateur astronomer,The Contribution of Amateurs to Astronomy, Proceedings of Colloquium 98 of the International Astronomical Union, June 20–24, 1987, page 41 and then confirmed on the night of 8 June 1918 by the UK amateur astronomer Grace Cook, The nova is estimated at between 784 to 839 light years distance from Earth .

All around, the park develops along most of the promontory of Bellagio with vast tracts of thick woods where the Serbelloni gardeners had traced paths which nowadays still lead the way amongst the small clearings and English style gardens. As noted by Balbiani, rather than being a garden, it is a real "wood, opened by spacious and comfortable paths, and plants with all generations of high trunk trees”; amongst which, oak trees, conifers, fir trees, holm oaks, osmanti, myrtles and junipers, "… but above all trees, here situated is the pine tree, which, with its gnarled trunk acts as a screen against the storms”. Occasionally, the vegetation thins out at panoramic points which overlook the two branches of the lake, offering a prospect from the slopes of the hill, where the rose bushes flower during the season with their varied colours. The roughness of the rocky plane along the winding path which goes up to the villa has not stopped the construction of terraces and flower beds with yews and boxes trimmed geometrically.
