Frustrated, the fox tries one last ditch effort to capture the duck, who's flying just out of his reach. Using many boards and nails, he creates himself a crude wooden bridge to reach him, though the duck outsmarts him yet again by almost-completely sawing off the part of the tree the boards were attached to, leaving it on the verge of collapsing should even the slightest bit of movement be had... and as luck would have it, the bridge is balanced dangerously over a rather large ravine. Though he's frightened, the fox still persists on capturing the duck, who then lets loose one of his feathers onto the wooden bridge... which the extra weight proves to be just enough to cause it to collapse, along with the fox, who falls to his death. Satisfied, the duck starts to fly away, but he's stopped by the angel spirit of the now-dead fox.

Dillon Phillips is twelve years old, and also burdened with a father who is the Prime Minister and has just been voted "Naffest Man in Britain" by his favourite pop magazine. His dad's smarmy and unlikeable spin doctor, Duncan Packer, interferes with everything and the slightest bit of bad behaviour may trigger an international crisis. Dillon's mother, Clare, is a successful businesswoman and has little time for him, while his older sister, Sarah, is annoyingly bossy and dismissive of her brother and his problems: however, the pair do occasionally join forces in order to fight against their oppressive regime, and especially against Packer. At school, Dillon's only real friend is a boy known as 'Geezer', the other boys (a boy known as 'Flash', his main nemesis, in particular) frequently picking on him because of his father's position, especially when the latter shows him up, for example by arriving at the school's sports day in a helicopter.

Back on the airstrip in Sabana del Ponton in La Vega, Garcia reassembled the plane himself. The reassembly was often falsely reported as the actual construction. Using the knowledge he had acquired as a pilot, he attempted to correct the design errors, taking the plane on various test flights along the Ponton air strip. In the Santiago newspaper El Progreso appeared an article by Rafael Sanchez Gil describing a test flight as: [...]I myself have touched and have seen the device rising to a very high altitude... The most perfect balance I have seen him keep the device in the air was at the moments when Mr. García let it fall abandoned to its weight to show the slowness with which, in a given case and without the slightest bit of danger, a descent could be made, when for some reason the engine or any other part of the apparatus would deprive it of its initial impulse[...] The same article shows that Garcia later approached the directors of the Aviation Center to recommend the dissolution of said organization.
