John 5 and Tim Sköld were also prevalent composers, while The Pale Emperor and Heaven Upside Down were composed entirely by Tyler Bates. All of the band's lyrics are written by Manson, whose songwriting style varies between albums.
In July 1997, Manson collaborated with British trip hop group Sneaker Pimps for the single "Long Hard Road Out of Hell" from the soundtrack to the 1997 film Spawn. The band released their second EP, Remix & Repent, on November 25, 1997. It featured new versions of Antichrist Superstar's four singles: "The Beautiful People", "Tourniquet", "Antichrist Superstar" and "Man That You Fear". In February 1998, Manson released his autobiography, The Long Hard Road Out of Hell, as well as a live video entitled Dead to the World.
However, both discs appeared on BitTorrent networks in December 2006, presumably leaked by Trent Reznor himself. And All That Could Have Been, which features performances from the Fragility 2.0 tour, was released in 2002 as a live CD and double DVD. An easter egg in the DVD version features a performance with Marilyn Manson at Madison Square Garden of the songs "Starfuckers, Inc." and Manson's "The Beautiful People". In 2007, Nine Inch Nails released Beside You in Time, featuring performances from the Live: With Teeth tour.

The guitars are still loud, the beat still propulsive, and the chorus pretty melodic. It doesn’t quite hit the highs of big hits like "The Beautiful People" or "The Dope Show" but this is as tight as Manson has sounded in years."Entertainment Weekly "No Reflection" Review, 5th April 2012, EW's review of "No Reflection". Michal Roffman from Consequence Of Sound gave the song a positive review and said: "its chugging, Faint-friendly distortion offers plenty of sonic waves for Manson to glide over.
Hip- hop duo P.M. Dawn incorporated the "How does it feel to be one of the beautiful people?" line into their song "The Beautiful", from the 1991 album Of the Heart, of the Soul and of the Cross: The Utopian Experience. They also replicated part of the music from "Baby, You're a Rich Man" in their track, having been denied permission to sample the Beatles' version. The song has also been covered by Kula Shaker, the Presidents of the United States of America and Umphrey's McGee.
On May 28, Love defended her title again against Sojourner Bolt with all of her associates at ringside. After quickly defeating Bolt, Love questioned why Cute Kip was still appearing with them and officially fired him from the group. After this Love made a speech about the dominance of The Beautiful People and mocked the lack of competition in TNA. This led to the debut of Tara who laid out both Sky and Rayne and used her Widow's Peak finisher on Love, before accepting the challenge.

Preceded by "The Beautiful People", whose music video received three nominations at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards, the album was both a critical and commercial success. Lorraine Ali of Rolling Stone credited Antichrist Superstar with ending the dominance of grunge within popular music. In the years since its release, various publications have listed it among the best albums of the 1990s. The album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200, and has sold almost two million copies in the United States alone.
The Boston Repertory Theatre was founded in Hyannis, on Cape Cod, in the summer of 1971 by Esquire Jauchem; the company was dissolved in 1978. Jauchem recruited a group of local theater artists to form a true repertory acting company (performing several plays each week with the same actors). Their first season was presented as a summer stock company in Hyannis, Massachusetts performing William Saroyan's The Beautiful People, Edmond Rostand's The Romantics, and Jean Cocteau's The Knights of the Round Table in weekly performances that summer.
After returning from an injury in June, former member Angelina Love set her sights on the Beautiful People and regaining the Women's Knockout Championship from Rayne. Three weeks before Victory Road, Love was defeated by Von Erich via disqualification when she dropped Von Erich with a DDT on a steel chair. During the opening bars of "The Beautiful People" at the 2003 Rock Am Ring festival Manson was moving across the stage when he hit Lowery's guitar and chest with his boot. Lowery was outraged and threw his guitar while screaming at Manson, which led to much speculation. According to Lowery, the Grotesk Burlesk tour had been a high-pressure endeavour, and just weeks before he had suffered losses of very close family members. Lowery later commented on his behavior, calling it unprofessional and stating that there was no bad blood between Manson and him.
Around this time, Sky and Love added another factor to their gimmicks, placing brown paper bags over their opponents heads after defeating them. Soon after, Moose joined The Beautiful People, but she was quickly removed from the stable and the TNA roster after suffering an injury on the independent circuit. On July 17 episode of Impact!, Sky won a Knockouts battle royal to become the number one contender to the TNA Knockouts Championship, but lost the title match the next week, as well as two more title matches immediately following, to then-champion Taylor Wilde.
Eddie Trunk praised "Coma White". Joseph Schafer of Stereogum ranked "Coma White" the best Marilyn Manson song, writing "Manson always walks the line between entertainer and artist; the best musicians and pop stars are both, but it’s a difficult balance to strike, and Manson often fell more on the entertainer side. The difference between the two, however, is a matter of fine tuning, and on 'Coma White,' he nailed it." Loudwire Graham Hartman deemed "Coma White" the second- best Marilyn Manson song, behind only "The Beautiful People" (1996).
It became normal for a summary of the week's news to take place at the start of the show over his opening jingle, "Boogie Woogie" by Liberace (replacing the theme tune he had previously used: "The Beautiful People" by Marilyn Manson). During the show, he played various sound clips including quotes from films such as The Terminator, and clips from his former co-presenter Carol McGiffin. His first video for the band was "The Beautiful People". By using the stage name "Zim Zum", Linton became the first member of Marilyn Manson to not use a stage name that combined a sex symbol's first and a serial killer's last names. According to Jeordie White (Twiggy Ramirez), he got his name from his Dungeons & Dragons character, though Manson has said that the name refers to the Kabbalistic concept of Tzimtzum. Linton contributed to all but four of the tracks on the band's 1998 release Mechanical Animals.
Though Hamada dominated the match, Young was able to retain his title by pinning her with his feet on the ropes. The following week Hamada and her new tag team partner Awesome Kong defeated Sarita and Wilde and the Beautiful People (Madison Rayne and Velvet Sky) in a three-way non-title tag team match. On the December 31 edition of Impact! The Beautiful People On April 13, 2008, he faced former partner B.G. James at Lockdown and lost. After the match, he appeared to want to make amends as he raised B.G.'s hand after the match, only to clothesline him down to the mat and taunt him with a DX crotch chop. Kip went on to declare himself "The Megastar", an arrogant gimmick similar to "The One" gimmick from his WWF tenure. Kip later stopped making appearances on Impact! until April 24 when he was attacked backstage by Matt Morgan for no reason.

"Baby, You're a Rich Man" was the result of combining two unfinished songs written by Lennon and McCartney, in a similar fashion to "A Day in the Life" and "I've Got a Feeling". The working title, based on Lennon's verses, was "One of the Beautiful People", to which McCartney added the "Baby, you're a rich man" chorus. In a 1980 interview, Lennon described it as "two separate pieces ... forced into one song". The two songwriters worked on the composition at McCartney's London home, on Cavendish Avenue in St John's Wood.
Musicologist Walter Everett writes that the song "asks an unnamed Brian Epstein what it's like to be one of the 'beautiful people'"; Everett adds: "This appellation was used of both communal hippies and those who mingle with the most celebrated entertainers." Lennon claimed that the meaning of the song was that everybody is a rich man, saying, "The point was stop moaning. You're a rich man and we're all rich men." George Harrison said the message was that all individuals are wealthy within themselves, regardless of material concerns.
Reznor and Manson had been exchanging verbal barbs in the press during this time, so the video marked a brief reconciliation with the pair, with Manson appearing in and co- directing the video. Manson also made a surprise appearance at Nine Inch Nails' concert on May 9, 2000 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, performing with the band during "Starfuckers, Inc.," followed by a performance of Manson's "The Beautiful People." A remix album for The Fragile, entitled Things Falling Apart, was released on November 21, 2000.
College Music Journal, October, 1997. Within this context, "The Beautiful People" deals explicitly with the destructive manifestation of the Will to Power ("There's no time to discriminate / hate every motherfucker that's in your way"), while also exploring Nietzsche's view of master-slave morality ("It's not your fault that you're always wrong / The weak ones are there to justify the strong"), particularly the concept's connection with Social Darwinism and its relation to various political and economic systems such as capitalism and fascism ("Capitalism has made it this way/Old-fashioned fascism will take it away").
A six-woman tag team match between all of Mi Pi Sexy against Tara, Kong and ODB turned into a three-on-one handicap match when Tara and Kong began to brawl between themselves. After a kiss from Deaner at ringside, Love was stunned and lost the match. After more mistimed hair spraying from Rayne, ODB won the title by virtue of Deaner pinning Sky.
On the January 5 episode of Impact Wrestling, The Beautiful People (Angelina Love, Madison Rayne and Velvet Sky) were supposed to take on The Dollhouse (Jade, Rebel and Marti Bell) in a six-woman tag team match but Love withdrew from the match due to her pregnancy and selected Gail Kim as her replacement. They would go on to win a further seven Slammies over the next three years, making them the second-most decorated band in the awards' history. The band had its first legitimate hit in 1995 with a cover of Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)". Its video was nominated in the Best Rock Video category at the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards. The lead single from the band's second studio album, "The Beautiful People", was nominated for three awards at the 1997 ceremony, while Marilyn Manson was named 'Best New Artist' by Rolling Stone.
Prior to the match, it was announced that the title would change hands via disqualification, if either Velvet Sky or Lacey Von Erich interfered in the match. On the following episode of Impact!, The Beautiful People imploded, as Sky said she didn't approve of Rayne's recent attitude, behavior, and apparent affiliation with the mystery woman at the pay-per-view, to which Rayne responded by saying that she didn't need Sky anymore. Sky and Von Erich then walked out on Rayne, as she and the mystery woman ganged up on Love.
The Beautiful People were vain and narcissistic prima donnas. After a brief initial period without these traits, they became villainous characters who emphasized an interest in looks and created the motto "cleansing the world, one ugly person at a time." The team was created by then-TNA booker Vince Russo, with Love and Sky drawing inspiration for their performance from celebrities like Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie and the movie Mean Girls. Their fixation with physical beauty is emphasized when they use cosmetics and hair spray as weapons.
Rayne's hazing continued after The Beautiful People won an Impact! tag team match against Kong and Saeed, after which Rayne tried to cut the braided hair of the Knockout Champion Kong. With Sky in her corner, Angelina Love faced Kong and perennial nemesis Taylor Wilde in a three-way cage match for the Knockout Championship at Lockdown. Love narrowly escaped a somersault leg drop from Kong, and as she was recovering Love pushed her towards the cage while Sky pulled her frayed hair through the holes in the cage and tied her to it.
At Slammiversary, Tara had her chance at the title but with the help of some hairspray from Sky and Rayne, Love retained the championship.
At one point, Devine performed his signature Devine Intervention maneuver on Rave, with Rave landing awkwardly on his neck. The winner of the contest was Lethal, who climbed the cage and escaped through the hole while everyone was preoccupied. A Six Person Intergender Tag Team Bimbo Brawl match with Traci Brooks as the Special Guest Referee was next, pitting the team of ODB, Rhaka Khan, and Rhino against The Beautiful People (Angelina Love, Cute Kip, and Velvet Sky). In this bout, both male and female wrestlers could fight each other and all weapons were legal to use.
Near the end of the match, Sheik Abdul Bashir walked out to the ring and bashed Creed across the back with a steel chair, which allowed Williams to force Creed's head into the mat with his signature Canadian Destroyer maneuver. Williams followed with the pin to win the match and retain the TNA X Division Championship. After the bout, Bashir continued to attack Creed. The second contest of the show was a Six Woman Tag Team match pitting the team of Gail Kim, ODB, and Taylor Wilde against the team of Awesome Kong and The Beautiful People (Angelina Love and Velvet Sky).

On the following week's episode of Impact Wrestling, Sky fought The Dollhouse again, only to be assisted by Angelina Love and Madison Rayne, thus reuniting The Beautiful People. On April 22, 2016, Sky left the company for the third time, with her being written off the Impact Wrestling series by being told that she was being put in a match against new Knockout roster member Sienna, with her job in TNA on the line if she were to lose the match, which she did by pinfall.

Finger Eleven's song "Slow Chemical" (Kane) is a bonus track on some versions of the album as well.

"Baby, You're a Rich Man" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles that was released as the B-side of their "All You Need Is Love" single in July 1967. It originated from an unfinished song by John Lennon, titled "One of the Beautiful People", to which Paul McCartney added a chorus. It is one of the best-known pop songs to make use of a clavioline, a monophonic keyboard instrument that was a forerunner to the synthesizer. Lennon played the clavioline on its oboe setting, creating a sound that suggests an Indian shehnai.

The latter was screened at the 1997 San Francisco Film Festival, depicting Manson on a podium, bearing a lightning bolt symbol and, in one scene, tearing apart the Bible and dumping it on the public. The Beautiful People continued to harass the fan favorites, including ruining Kim's chance at winning the TNA Women's Knockout Championship, injuring her, and unsuccessfully attempting to shave ODB's head after a match. This led to a Street Fight on June 5 between Sky and ODB, during which Mickie Knuckles (later renamed Moose) debuted as The Beautiful People's ally on Impact!. At Slammiversary the new trio lost in a six-woman tag team match against Roxxi, ODB and Kim when ODB pinned Moose. On July 18, Sky won a ten-wrestler Battle Royal to earn a shot at the Knockouts Championship.
Love and Tara teamed up to challenge for the vacant Knockouts Tag Team Championship, but were defeated by Rayne and Sky, after interference from Daffney, with whom Tara was involved in a feud. On the April 5 episode of Impact!, Love teamed with Tara, ODB, and Hamada to face the Beautiful People and Daffney in the first ever Lockbox elimination match, contested for four keys to four boxes containing prizes. Adopting the personas of superficial prima donnas, who loathe and insult anyone they consider to be physically unattractive, they dropped the Velvet-Love Entertainment moniker and became The Beautiful People. In 2008 at Lockdown, they participated in the first ever "Queen of the Cage" match, which was won by Roxxi, when she defeated Love in the finals. The following month's pay-per- view, Sacrifice, saw a Battle Royal where the last two in the ring competed in a Ladder match with the loser having their head shaved; the week before on Impact! Gail Kim won immunity in a Shears-On-A-Pole-Match.

After the match, Love and Sky would pose and laugh at Rayne, officially reuniting the original heel incarnation. On the April 10 episode of Impact Wrestling, Love defeated ODB, Gail Kim and Brittany in a fatal four-way match to become the number one contender to Rayne's Women's Knockout Championship.
During this time, Love and Sky formed an alliance with The BroMans (Robbie E and Jessie Godderz). On the January 23 episode of Impact Wrestling during the Feast or Fired match, Sky grabbed a briefcase for Robbie E, and because Sky had retrieved the briefcase, she was forced by Robbie to open it, revealing a "fired" slip. Later, it was revealed that Sky's contract had legitimately expired, and TNA had opted not to renew it. On the May 8, episode of Impact Wrestling, Sky made her return to TNA, emerging from the audience to attack Angelina Love, thus, turning face in the process and ending her association with The Beautiful People.

On September 22, 2012, Rayne made her debut for Northeast Wrestling, teaming up with Rosita to defeat The Beautiful People (Angelina Love and Velvet Sky) in a tag team match. Rayne made her debut for National Wrestling Superstars (NWS) on December 12, 2012 at the NWS Jingle Brawl, where she, along with Danny Demanto, accompanied Nikki Addams where Addams competed against Nikki Richardson. Later that night, Rayne teamed up with Demanto in a losing effort to Chris D'Andrea and Rosita in a mixed tag team match. The following night, Rayne teamed up with Demanto in a winning effort defeating D'Andrea and Rosita in a rematch.
Two weeks later on Impact!, she once again teamed with Sky and Rayne in a six-Knockouts tag team match, where they defeated ODB, Christy Hemme, and Hamada, when Von Erich pinned Hemme, scoring her first victory in TNA. On November 5, Von Erich began carrying a pink nightstick with her to the ring, which was dubbed "Lacey's Ugly Stick". At Turning Point, the Beautiful People were unsuccessful in gaining both the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship and the TNA Knockouts Championship, as ODB pinned Rayne in a six- way tag team match with all the titles on the line to win the match for the reigning champions.
This resulted in a six-woman tag team match at Final Resolution against ODB, Wilde and Roxxi, which they lost. Also in December it was announced on TNA's website that the company had extended an invitation to United States Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin which The Beautiful People looked forward to as they considered her husband to be attractive. A Governor Palin parody character, often referred to simply as The Governor, appeared on December 4 played by Shannon Spruill. Love and Sky were oblivious to The Governor being an imposter, resulting in some comedy skits where Kip tried to convince them they were being fooled while others mocked their stupidity.
Rayne and Sky defeated the teams of Love and Tara and Sarita and Wilde in a three-way match to win the vacant TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship, after interference from Daffney. The three members of the Beautiful People then defended the title under the Freebird rule. At Lockdown Rayne pinned Tara in a tag team steel cage match, where she teamed with Velvet Sky against Tara and TNA Women's Knockout Champion Angelina Love, to win Love's title and become the first person to hold both Knockout Championships simultaneously. At Sacrifice Rayne successfully defended the TNA Women's Knockout Championship against Tara in a Title vs.
Saturn went on to feud with Eddie Guerrero and Ernest Miller before beginning a rivalry with Chris Jericho. After Jericho cost Saturn a number of matches with the help of crooked referee Scott Dickinson, he mocked Saturn's complaints and accused him of crying "like a schoolgirl." This led to Jericho challenging Saturn to a "loser wears a dress for ninety days" match at Souled Out on January 17, 1999, which he won after some suspect officiating from Dickinson. Taking on a bizarre, goth transvestite gimmick, Saturn began wearing a variety of dresses to the ring and using a variation of Marilyn Manson's "The Beautiful People" as his entrance music.
Green Day's "Hitchin' a Ride" also spent five weeks at number one, while Jon Bon Jovi was number one for five weeks with "Midnight in Chelsea" (three weeks) and "Queen of New Orleans" (two weeks). Marilyn Manson's "Tourniquet" spent three weeks at number one and one week with "The Beautiful People", while "In the Meantime" by Spacehog, "Song 2" by Blur and "Monkey Wrench" by Foo Fighters were all number one for three weeks. Five singles - "Swallowed" by Bush, "Falling in Love (Is Hard on the Knees)" by Aerosmith, "Freak" by Silverchair, "Afraid" by Mötley Crüe and "Anthem" by The Wildhearts - spent two weeks each at number one on the chart during 1997.
Manson also received their Icon Award in 2005, as well as their Lifetime Achievement Award ten years later. The publication has ranked Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death) as the eleventh greatest rock album of the 2000s, and in 2015 they listed Manson as the twenty-eighth greatest rockstar in the world. VH1 included Marilyn Manson at seventy-eight on their list of the '100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock', and also included "The Beautiful People" at number eighty-six on their list of the 100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs. Similarly, Gigwise included Manson at number thirty-six in their list of the '60 Greatest Solo Artists of All Time'.
On 4 October 2012 at the Back 2 Brooklyn pay-per-view, Waters, under the name Katarina Leigh, teamed up with Maria in losing effort to The Beautiful People (Angelina Love and Velvet Sky) in a tag team match. After the match ended, Waters was attacked by the evil Ivelisse Velez, who was making her FWE debut. Winter made her debut for House of Hardcore, on 6 October 2012 at the promotion's first show, where she lost to Jazz in a singles match. Under the name Katarina Leigh, she participated in Pro Wrestling Syndicate's Bombshells Championship tournament making the final where she was eliminated last by Missy Sampson in a four-way elimination match.
Following her departure from TNA, Sky reunited with Angelina Love as the Beautiful People on September 22, 2012, at a Northeast Wrestling event, where they were defeated by Madison Rayne and Rosita. Sky made her debut for Family Wrestling Entertainment (FWE) on October 4, 2012 at the Back 2 Brooklyn internet pay-per-view, where she teamed up with Angelina Love to defeat the FWE Women's Champion Maria Kanellis and Katrina Lea in a tag team match. Sky made her debut for Maryland Championship Wrestling (MCW) on October 27 at MCW Monster Mash event, where she teamed up with Angelina Love in a winning effort defeating Jessie Kaye and Niya in a tag-team match.
In 2002, Oliver joined NWA:TNA (later Impact Wrestling) where he writes, records and produces music for entrance theme and pay-per-views. Oliver sang on Jeff Jarrett's entrance theme "My World" and AJ Styles' "I AM", for which he collaborated with rap group GRITS, rapped on Samoa Joe's "Nation of Violence" and played guitar on Sting's entrance theme. Oliver co-wrote, produced and played all instruments for James Storm's theme, "Longnecks and Rednecks" by Serg Salinas featuring Montgomery Gentry, and also appeared in the 2012 music video. Oliver also supplied the entrance themes for The Beautiful People/Velvet Sky, Madison Rayne, Dixie Carter, Tara and Ethan Carter III, as well as others.
This high and low move, named and popularized by The Eliminators (Perry Saturn and John Kronus), sees both wrestlers stand facing a standing opponent before Saturn executes a spinning leg sweep to the back of the opponent's legs, and Kronus executes a spinning heel-kick towards the opponent simultaneously, knocking the opponent backwards. Another version is performed by The Beautiful People (Angelina Love and Velvet Sky), called the "Makeover". The execution involves Love with a high roundhouse kick to the chest and Velvet with a low roundhouse kick to the legs to sweep their feet, simultaneously, knocking the opponent backwards. A running variation of the move is used by The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor) called the "Fall of Man".

However, Hole left the stage after only 45 minutes into their show (out of a scheduled hour and a half set) due to Love's disappointment with the audience turnout. Marilyn Manson was due to perform after Hole's scheduled exit from the stage, but started 90 minutes late due to problems that arose from having to construct their complicated theatrics in a rush after Hole's impromptu walkout. After the problems were resolved, they played an hour and a half show marked by deliberate destruction of their instruments and explicit onstage antics that were the band's trademark. They ended the show with a performance of their signature song "The Beautiful People" followed by an encore.
At Slammiversary, Tara had her chance at the title but with the help of some hairspray from Sky and Rayne, Love retained the championship. Tara, whose name alludes to the tarantula spider, began taunting the group with tarantulas over the next few weeks on Impact!, which resulted in Sky voicing her frustration about Love leaving her alone with the tarantula and threatening to leave the group, if Love didn't back her up. Love and Sky evicting Rayne from The Beautiful People Consequently, when Tara defeated Sky and threatened to place a tarantula on her, Love agreed to put her Knockout Championship on the line immediately afterward, and without Rayne for support, Love lost the championship.
In her first title defense, on the May 22 episode of Impact Wrestling, Love defeated Brittany in an open-challenge match. After the match, Love and Sky would attack Brittany and Gail Kim would make the save. This led to a tag team match, where The Beautiful People defeated Kim and Brittany on the edition of May 29 of Impact Wrestling. Love and Kim would finally face off in a title match on June 15 at the Slammiversary pay-per-view, where Love would successfully defend her championship. On June 20, during the tapings of the July 3 episode of Impact Wrestling, Love lost the Women's Knockout Championship to Kim, ending her reign at only 67 days.
The single was generally praised on its release. AllMusic's Stephen Thomas Erlewine highly praised the song, stating that "With its mock menace and pummeling metal triplets, it was the first Manson song with an oversized hook -- the kind of song that even the group's detractors couldn't get out of their heads". In its 1996 review of Antichrist Superstar, Rolling Stone magazine described "The Beautiful People" as "suspense-filled", with "a zombielike, repetitive quality [and] ghostly electronic sounds. . .", adding that in his vocal delivery, "Manson hisses his lines, punctuating certain words with a shrill, insane pitch, others with a retching scream".Lorraine Ali, "Antichrist Superstar" (starred review) , October 29, 1996, Rolling Stone № 748, reported by RollingStone.
"The Beautiful People" was released as the lead single, and both the song and its accompanying music video were critical and commercial successes. The track was a hit on alternative rock charts in the United States, reaching number 26 on Billboards Modern Rock Tracks, and number 29 on Mainstream Rock. It was successful internationally as well, peaking within the top fifty in both Australia and New Zealand, and was their first top-20 entry on the UK Singles Chart. Floria Sigismondi directed the song's music video, which was included at number fifty-four on MTV's list of the "100 Greatest Music Videos Ever Made", and at number 100 on MuchMusic's "100 Greatest Videos Ever".
The Makeover Battle Royal-Ladder Match saw Kim and Roxxi survive the Battle Royal and with Kim having immunity this meant the third runner-up, Angelina Love, would have her head shaved if Roxxi won. Knowing this, Love interfered in the Ladder Match to ensure Kim's victory and Roxxi's head being shaved bald. While the Knockouts watched the haircut in pity, Love and Sky paraded around celebrating with Roxxi's freshly shaved hair cementing them as villains in one of TNA's most controversial moments. The Beautiful People continued to harass the fan favorite Knockouts, including ruining Kim's chance at winning the TNA Women's Knockout Championship, injuring her, and unsuccessfully attempting to shave ODB's head after a match.
On the September 24 edition of Impact Wrestling, Knux took part in the Gold Rush tournament for a potential title opportunity facing Austin Aries in a losing effort. Rebel made her in-ring return teaming with Crazzy Steve and Knux on the October 15 episode of Impact Wrestling, defeating Angelina Love and The BroMans (Jessie Godderz and DJ Z). On the November 12 edition of Impact Wrestling, The Menagerie defeated BroMans and The Beautiful People in an Elimination Match. On May 15 episode of Impact Wrestling Rebel participated in a Knockouts tag team match, in which it was referenced that The Menagerie had gone back to the carnival business, signalling the disbanding of the group. On May 19, 2015, Knux left TNA.
Le Dôme Café in Paris Café society was the description of the "Beautiful People" and "Bright Young Things" who gathered in fashionable cafés and restaurants in New York, Paris and London beginning in the late 19th century. Maury Henry Biddle Paul is credited with coining the phrase "café society" in 1915. Members attended each other's private dinners and balls, and took holidays in exotic locations or at elegant resorts. In the United States, café society came to the fore with the end of Prohibition in December 1933 and the rise of photojournalism to describe the set of people who tended to do their entertaining semi-publicly—in restaurants and night clubs—and who would include among them movie stars and sports celebrities.
Nazeer Akbarabadi (1735–1830) wrote one of the first nazms (poems) in Hindustani language on Rakhi. This is the last "band" (stanza), the poet fantasizes that he (a Muslim) would like to dress up as a "Bamhan" (Brahmin priest), with sacred thread and mark on forehead, so that he too can tie the threads on the wrists of all the beautiful people around him. Sociologist Yogendra Singh has noted the contribution of American anthropologist McKim Marriott, to an understanding of the origins of the Raksha Bandhan festival. In rural society, according to Marriott, there is steady interplay between two cultural traditions, the elite or "great," tradition based in texts, such as the Vedas in Indian society, and the local or "little," based in folk art and literature.
Drowned in Sound gave the album 8/10. In 2000 the band began to work on 'The Ugly People vs The Beautiful People' with Simon Raymonde providing his production services gratis once again, leaving his young family back in London while he and The Czars battled their way through the new songs in snowy Denver. The Czars also appeared on the compilation album, Sing a Song for You: A Tribute to Tim Buckley after being asked to cover "Song to the Siren" and were also asked to compose the soundtrack for the independent film I'd Rather Be... Gone. The EP, X Would Rather Listen to Y Than Suffer Through a C of Z's was self-produced by the band and released during the 2002 tour.
On the May 22, 2008 episode of Impact!, after Tomko interrupted an interview to interrogate Styles about teaming with Super Eric, Styles quit the Angle Alliance, including his team with Tomko, in a fit induced by Styles having faced many pointed fingers in recent weeks mainly pertaining to his relationship with Karen. From there, Tomko would align with Kurt Angle and characters such as Booker T, Team 3D, and The Beautiful People in a loose collective self-identified as "the Bad Guys". That same night, and the following week, Angle, Booker, Team 3D and Tomko ended the show by viciously attacking Styles (and Cage in the second week), marking the official disbandment of Styles and Tomko as a tag team.
On March 13 at Victory Road, Rosita and Sarita defeated Angelina Love and Winter to win the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship, with Sarita proclaiming that their victory would start a Mexican takeover of TNA. They then went on to successfully defend the title against the teams of The Beautiful People (Love and Velvet Sky), Madison Rayne and Tara and Velvet Sky and Ms. Tessmacher. Meanwhile, after defeating Ink Inc. (Jesse Neal and Shannon Moore) on May 15 at Sacrifice and the team of Alex Shelley and TNA World Tag Team Champion James Storm on the June 9 episode of Impact Wrestling, Hernandez and Anarquia began demanding a shot at the TNA World Tag Team Championship, claiming that they were being held back because of their race.
This resulted in a six-woman tag team match at Final Resolution against ODB, Wilde and Roxxi, which they lost. Madison Rayne (left) joined in March 2009 to make the sorority Mi∇⦵ (Mi Pi Sexy) Also in December it was announced on TNA's website that the company had extended an invitation to United States Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin which The Beautiful People looked forward to as they considered her husband to be attractive. The latter group, consisting of Noko (guitar and vocals), Simon Hoare (drums), Mark Sanderson (bass) and James Gardner, released a total of three songs before folding, which were released on an EP called Make Hell (For The Beautiful People). Founder Buzzcock and Magazine frontman, Howard Devoto, started writing with Noko in 1986 with a view to putting a band together to play Factory Records' Festival of the Tenth Summer at the G-Mex arena in Manchester that summer to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Punk. They played a short set as Adultery, borrowing backline from The Smiths. (Noko also played a set with Pete Shelley at the same gig in a line-up that also included ex-Magazine drummer John Doyle).
On August 15, 2015, Manson had New Orleans brass ensemble the Soul Rebels perform "The Beautiful People" with him live in Japan at the Summer Sonic Music Festival. Shooter Jennings' album Countach (For Giorgio) (a tribute to Giorgio Moroder) features Manson performing guest vocals on a cover of David Bowie's "Cat People (Putting Out Fire)". The album was released on February 26, 2016. On September 30, 2017, Manson was injured by two large falling stage props while he performed on stage at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, breaking his fibula in two places, requiring a plate and ten screws to be inserted in the bone, as well as another screw in his ankle, which he had sprained during a show in Pittsburgh.
In her first match since The Menagerie split, Rebel teamed with Brooke in a losing effort to The Dollhouse (Jade and Marti Bell) in a tag team match on the May 15 episode of Impact Wrestling. A few weeks later, Rebel was seen in a backstage segment, congratulating Brooke on her winning the TNA Knockouts Championship, only to be attacked by Jade and Marti Bell. On the August 26 episode of Impact Wrestling, Rebel turned heel for the first time in TNA by attacking Velvet Sky and aligning with The Dollhouse. On January 5, 2016, during Impact Wrestling's debut on POP, Awesome Kong allied with Rebel, Jade and Marti Bell and became the new leader of The Dollhouse after she attacked The Beautiful People (Velvet Sky and Madison Rayne) and Gail Kim.
"Our hope is that we can keep Darfur in the spotlight and spur on governments to help keep peace in the region," said Tutu. He has also travelled with Elders delegations to Ivory Coast, Cyprus, Ethiopia, India, South Sudan and the Middle East. During the 2008 Tibetan unrest, Tutu marched in a pro-Tibet demonstration in San Francisco; there, he called on heads of states to boycott the 2008 Summer Olympics opening ceremony in Beijing "for the sake of the beautiful people of Tibet". Tutu invited the Tibetan Buddhist leader, the 14th Dalai Lama, to attend his 80th birthday in October 2011, although the South African government did not grant him entry; observers suggested that they had not given permission so as not to offend China, a major trading partner.
On December 11, 1996 William Bennett organized a bipartisan press conference, along with Senator Joseph Lieberman and Secretary of Pennsylvania State C. Delores Tucker, wherein they questioned MCA--the owner of Interscope--president Edgar Bronfman Jr.'s ability to head the label competently whilst profiting from "profanity-laced" albums by artists such as Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg and Marilyn Manson. Tucker had previously called the band's 1995 EP Smells Like Children the "dirtiest, nastiest porno record directed at children that has ever hit the market." The day after the press conference, Snoop Dogg met with Manson after the latter's first UK stop at the London Forum on December 12, 1996. Snoop Dogg's label, Death Row Records, confirmed the two frontmen discussed plans to collaborate on a rap rock remix of "The Beautiful People".
In a 1970 interview, when asked about Haight- Ashbury, the district of San Francisco that represented "the city of the beautiful people" in 1967, Lennon recalled that he was "all for going and living" there, but "George went over in the end." During this visit, on 7 August, Harrison was handed an acoustic guitar in Golden Gate Park Available at Rock's Backpages (subscription required). and briefly performed "Baby, You're a Rich Man", leading a crowd around in a manner that press reports likened to the Pied Piper of Hamelin. Although the visit was viewed as the Beatles' endorsement of a youth movement that they helped inspire, Harrison was disappointed at how Haight-Ashbury represented a haven for dropouts and drug addicts, rather than a community looking to explore the possibility of enlightenment that LSD presented.
The song reflects the Beatles' disdain for consumerism and materialism, a theme that, inspired by the band members' use of the hallucinogenic drug LSD, they introduced in the lyrics to Revolver tracks such as "And Your Bird Can Sing". Authors Russell Reising and Jim LeBlanc highlight the lines "You keep all your money in a big brown bag inside a zoo / What a thing to do" as particularly dismissive of the acquisition and hoarding of material wealth. The same authors recognise an element of ridicule towards some of the "beautiful people", specifically those that, in Lennon's words, travel no further than "As far as the eye can see" and, even then, see "Nothing that doesn't show". Music critic Tim Riley identifies a droll quality in the answers that Lennon provides to his own questions.
Following the match, Zoravar confessed that he was in love with Love. On September 22, 2012, during her time with TNA, Love and Velvet Sky reunited as The Beautiful People at a Northeast Wrestling event, where they were defeated by Madison Rayne and Rosita. Love made her debut for Family Wrestling Entertainment (FWE) on October 4, 2012 at the Back 2 Brooklyn internet pay-per-view, where she teamed up with Velvet Sky to defeat the FWE Women's Champion Maria Kanellis and Katrina Lea a in a tag team match, with Love pinning Kanellis. Because of the win, Williams was named number one contender, and faced Kanellis for the FWE Women's Championship on February 16, 2013, but was unsuccessful in winning the championship after Mike Bennett helped Maria take advantage.
It was announced by TNA that a former TNA Women's Knockout Champion was signed to a contract and would be returning, which would later be revealed to be Love. Love made her return to TNA on the March 13, 2014 episode of Impact Wrestling, calling out Velvet Sky wanting to reunite The Beautiful People. Sky would later accept Love's offer on the March 20 episode of Impact Wrestling, while Madison Rayne declined due to Love's attitude towards her. Later in the show, Love attacked Rayne, after the two hugged, establishing herself as a heel in the process. On the March 27 episode of Impact Wrestling, Love defeated Rayne in her returning match due to interference from Sky, who also turned heel, officially returning the original heel incarnation of the stable.
The Beautiful People was a stable known for its time with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) where Angelina Love, Velvet Sky, Madison Rayne, Lacey Von Erich and Cute Kip were all members throughout its several incarnations. The team are known for their narcissistic gimmick, and holding the TNA Knockouts Championship and the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship simultaneously. Their characters were portrayed as arrogant blonde Barbie dolls, whose main goal as a team was to "cleanse" the TNA roster "one ugly person at a time", based on the belief that their physical attractiveness was greater than that of others in the company, however various incarnations have portrayed them as faces. Original members Angelina Love and Velvet Sky came up with the characters, inspired by Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie.
The song was recorded and mixed at Olympic Sound Studios in London, making it the first of the Beatles' EMI recordings to be entirely created outside EMI Studios. Lennon wrote his portion of the song after attending the 14 Hour Technicolor Dream, an all-night festival held at London's Alexandra Palace that served as a key event in the emergence of the counterculture in the UK. His lyrics address the "beautiful people" of the 1960s hippie movement and combine with the chorus to present a statement on the universality of non- material wealth. The lyrics have also invited interpretation as a message to the Beatles' manager, Brian Epstein, and alternatively as a comment on fame. George Harrison performed the song during his visit to San Francisco's Haight- Ashbury district in August 1967, at the height of the Summer of Love.

In the second series, Simon and Sacha have split up and Simon returns to the family home in Reading; he soon finds a new job at Selfridges in London. He comes out to his mother (through a letter, read in voice-over while he and his crush Mickey dance on the roof and almost kiss) in the last episode of season 2, after she tells him that she loves him no matter what and that other boys are crap (after he says that he isn't "like other boys"). Simon becomes engaged to Mickey in the last episode of season 2 (in the 2009 epilogue). In the end, Simon states that even though he spent his life wishing he was with the beautiful people, he now knows they were with him all along, quoting Judy Garland 'There really is no place like home'.
On the January 30, 2015, episode of Impact Wrestling, the villainous Rayne unsuccessfully challenged Taryn Terrell for the Knockouts Championship in a three-way match, also involving Gail Kim. On the TKO: Night of Knockouts edition of Impact Wrestling on April 24, Rayne competed in a four-way number one contender's match against Angelina Love, Brooke and Gail Kim, which was ultimately won by Brooke. On the September 2 episode of Impact Wrestling, Rayne and Angelina Love came to the aid of Velvet Sky, who was being beaten down by Dollhouse members Rebel, Jade and Marti Bell, turning face and reforming The Beautiful People in the process. During October and November (taped in July), she participated in the TNA World Title Series, where she ended third of her block, tied with Brooke, failing to advance to the finals.
On June 15, 2014, at Slammiversary XII, The BroMans (Godderz and DJZ) were defeated by Marshall and Ross Von Erich of the Von Erich family by disqualification who were being accompanied by father, Kevin Von Erich. On the July 3, episode of Impact Wrestling, Godderz and DJZ unsuccessfully challenged The Wolves in a three way tag team match for the TNA World Tag Team Championship that also included The Menagerie (Knux and The Freak). In August 2014, The BroMans began allying themselves with The Beautiful People (Angelina Love and Velvet Sky). On the September 10, episode of Impact Wrestling The BroMans teamed with Velvet Sky defeating The Menagerie (Knux, Crazzy Steve and Rebel). On October 22, 2014, The BroMans (Godderz and DJZ) entered a number one contenders tournament for the TNA World Tag Team Championships losing to The Hardys (Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy) in the first round of the tournament.
Rayne returned to TNA on the December 12 episode of Impact Wrestling, saving ODB, who was being attacked by Lei'D Tapa and Rayne's former partner, the Knockouts Champion Gail Kim, establishing herself as a face in the process. Rayne made her in-ring return on the December 19 episode of Impact Wrestling, when she teamed with ODB to defeat Lei'D Tapa and Gail Kim, after Rayne pinned Kim. On the January 2, 2014 episode of Impact Wrestling, Rayne defeated Kim in an open challenge match, thus earning a match for the Knockouts Championship. On January 16 at the Impact Wrestling: Genesis special episode, Rayne defeated Kim to win the Knockouts Championship for a record-tying fifth time. On the January 30 episode of Impact Wrestling, Rayne and her former The Beautiful People partner Velvet Sky teamed up in a tag team match, which they won against Kim and Tapa.
With Sky and Madison Rayne scheduled to receive a shot at the Knockouts Championship at Lockdown, the Beautiful People turned the Leather and Lace match into a three-on-one beat down, in order to soften Love up for the pay-per-view the following Sunday. At the pay-per-view, Rayne and Sky defeated Love and Tara, and Rayne became the new Knockouts Champion. Sky faced Love once again on the June 24 episode of Impact, and won by disqualification after receiving a DDT onto a steel chair, just like Von Erich the previous week. Sky with the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship belt In the summer of 2010, Sky began showing signs of a face turn, when Rayne began talking down to her and Von Erich, declaring that she did not need either of them, and then recruited a mystery woman hiding behind a motorcycle helmet to help her in her feud with Angelina Love.
Burlesque: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack comprises ten songs: eight performed by Aguilera and two performed by Cher. The soundtrack has a "brassy, jazzy" sound inspired by jazz, in contrast to Aguilera's last electronic music-inspired studio album Bionic (2010) but similar to her fifth 1920s, 1930s and 1940s-influenced studio album Back to Basics (2006). Four of the songs performed by Aguilera are cover versions, two of Etta James' works: "Something's Got a Hold on Me" and "Tough Lover", a cover version of Mae West's "Guy What Takes His Time", and a dance version of "The Beautiful People" by Marilyn Manson, including the "unmistakable" drum beats and guitar riff in the original version. "I Am a Good Girl" "sticks to the sassy swing of a bygone musical era", while "Express" has a similar musical style to Aguilera's previous single "Lady Marmalade" and lyrically evokes sexual theme as Aguilera "seductively" sings, "Show a little leg / You gotta shimmy your chest".

A persistent misconception about Swains Island is its supposed discovery on 2 March 1606 by Pedro Fernandes de Queirós, a famous Portuguese navigator who sailed for Spain. On that day, he reckoned an island at 10°36'S 171°W, and his ship's historian named it Isla de la Gente Hermosa (meaning "island of the beautiful people" in Spanish), after its inhabitants. The closest island to that reckoned location is Swains Island at 11°03'S 171°05'W, leading later authors to identify it as the same, and thus refer to it by that Spanish name or by the Spanish version of the navigator's last name, Quirós (also spelled Quiros in English). However, the island described by Queirós was significantly larger, and at the time the calculation of longitude had a much greater uncertainty than latitude, leading later scholars to conclude that the island found by Queirós was actually Rakahanga, lying 1100 km to the east at 10°02'S 161°05'W.
The album was recorded at Reznor's Nothing Studios in New Orleans.
