This often includes the use of hood mounts, side mounts, suction cup mounts and proprietary clamps to attach film equipment to vehicles without causing damage. Grips also do "blackouts" and "tenting-out" windows and doors. When shooting interiors day-for-night on location, grips need to eliminate all daylight entering the set. If windows or other openings are not visible in a shot, the light may be blacked out with a cloth known as duvetyne or rags, and in rare cases, plastic sheeting.

Poisonous bromomethane was widely used as pesticide to fumigate soil and to fumigate housing, by the tenting method. Ethylene bromide was similarly used. These volatile organobromine compounds are all now regulated as ozone depletion agents. The Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer scheduled the phase out for the ozone depleting chemical by 2005, and organobromide pesticides are no longer used (in housing fumigation they have been replaced by such compounds as sulfuryl fluoride, which contain neither the chlorine or bromine organics which harm ozone).

Each year, the Upper Grades attend a camping trip in September to Kejimkujik National Park in South Central Nova Scotia. It is usually about a 3-day trip and includes bike trips, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, camp fires, swimming, large games of capture the flag/track down/manhunt, tenting, playing of musical instruments, and much more. In the mid-1930s, Lascoe was active with the Little Theatre in Brooklyn, New York. His Broadway credits include Arturo Ui (1963), Carnival! Centre Hall Reformed Church Centre Hall hosts the Centre County Grange Encampment and Fair, known to most as the "Grange Fair". The Fair attracts tens of thousands of people during its run, and takes place the last full Thursday to Thursday week in August annually. It is one of the few remaining tenting fairs in the United States, with nearly a thousand "army- style" tents laid in rows throughout the grounds. It was gradually enlarged to handle up to 100. In 1886 it was purchased by a group of investors who renamed it Saranac Inn, and began a program of renovation and construction that brought the capacity to 250 by 1909. The opening of the Mohawk and Malone Railway in 1892, dramatically reducing travel time from major east coast cities to the Adirondacks, had a major impact on the hotel.

For the next third of the season, tents must have 1 person in the tent during the day and 6 people each night. For the final third, before the game, tents still must have 1 person during the day but only 2 people each night. The two weekend nights prior to the game, or the weekend before the game, are personal check nights, during which each of the twelve tent members must be at the tent for 3 of 5 personal checks spread over the two nights.

In 1872 'Dr.' Spalding again put Dan Rice on the road with a show managed by his son Harry W. Spalding, who was dangerously wounded by a pistol shot in Baxter Springs, Kansas, which was probably the cause of his death, which took place at his father's residence in Saugerties in New York on February 4 1874. 'Dr.' Spalding's last venture in the circus business was during the tenting season of 1875, when he was the principal backer of Melville, Magintey & Cooke's Centennial Circus and Thespian Company. Spalding & Bidwell dissolved their co-partnership and in the division of the property David Bidwell retained the Academy of Music, New Orleans, and Spalding the Olympic Theatre, St. Louis, which was successfully managed by his son Charles Spalding.

Located on Loon Pond, Sabattus, Maine, Camporees have been held on this council property since at least 1947. The camp has been a regular site for Abnaki district (surrounding Auburn, Lisbon, Lewiston, Norway, Pris, and Bethel in Androsscoggin and Oxford Counties) events including camporees, Cub events, and district Cub Day Camps. Although a favorite of Abnaki, many units from other parts of the Council have camped there, taken part in "Beaver" work days, and done service projects to improve campsites. With open fields and wooded campsites for tenting, a clean water source and latrines, a pond, a pavilion, and back country roads in the area, Camp Gustin hosts troop shakedowns and junior leader training, design-your-own second class rural hiking, troop challenges, Cub family camping, picnics, and field days, and for older Scout retreats.

Kelk began his career as a child actor in the 1930s. He made his film debut Sam in the 1931 short, Play Ball, made by Warner Bros. In 1932, he was cast as a snobby bow-tied boy named "Georgie Bassett" in the Penrod Vitaphone comedy shorts. The shorts were similar to the popular and long running Our Gang shorts, and were based on books by Booth Tarkington. At age 10, Kelk appeared in the 1934 drama Born to Be Bad. He also had roles in Broadway productions included Young Jim Bailey in No More Frontier (1931), Peter Burroughs in Bridal Wise (1932), Henri, the Son in The Perfect Marriage (1932), Mr. Clayton in Goodbye Again (1932-1933), Prince Rudolph in Jubilee (1935-1936), "Chub" Tolliver in The County Chairman (1936), Percy in Flare Path (1942-1943), Elliot Smollens in Tenting Tonight (1947), and Herbie in Me and Juliet (1953-1954).

The University Band played Dixie while "students formally accepted the monument", and the program concluded with a rendition by a quartet of "Tenting on the Old Camp Ground". The Governor of North Carolina, Locke Craig, also spoke; regarding the service of students who died in the war: The dedication speech which has attracted the most subsequent notice was given by Julian Carr, a prominent industrialist, UNC alumnus and Trustee, former Confederate soldier, and the largest single donor towards the construction of the monument. This speech has been described by UNC history professor W. Fitzhugh Brundage as one in which Carr "unambiguously urged his audience to devote themselves to the maintenance of white supremacy with the same vigor that their Confederate ancestors had defended slavery." In it, Carr emphatically praised the student-soldiers and soldiers of the Confederate Army for their wartime valor and patriotism, adding that According to Brundage, Carr's phrase "the four years immediately succeeding the war" is a clear reference to the Reconstruction era, when the Ku Klux Klan, working to restore the dominance of traditional white hierarchy in the South, terrorized blacks and white Republicans.
